Another good dude joining us now live from the beautiful
land known as California, the city known as Oxnard. Nate Newton,
Now you're doing, Nate, Welcome to the show.
Speaker 3 (02:18):
I'm doing great, man, Oh, Greg, glad to be a
part of you, guys. Man hanging, I'm hanging.
Speaker 4 (02:24):
First off, Man, I hate to hear about the news
with your good buddy, your best friend, Dion.
Speaker 6 (02:29):
Man, how's he doing? How's his spirits?
Speaker 3 (02:31):
Oh? He's doing great? Man? Then up and running now. Man,
it was about six weeks ago when he wasn't. That's
when he was. He was down and beat up a
little bit and dealing with this situation. Man. He called
me man out of the blue one morning, like seven o'clock.
You know, I'm housing the phone. I'm like, you know,
it's raining early, and and he said, big fella, he said,
(02:52):
I got something to tell you. I say, what's that? Prime?
You know, I'm getting ready to joke and clown you
know me. And he's like, man, I'm gonna have third
I'm like, sir, his surgery for what? Man? And uh man,
you know, gonna get some cancer cut out? Well, man,
I almost came on glue because the first thing I know,
I'm like, well, okay, where do I drive to? Where
do Where am I coming? You know, it's important Colorado
(03:14):
is I'm coming? You know? You in Canton, Texas. He's like,
i'may in Colorado, but don't just jump in your truck yet,
you know. And I was like, okay, well, explain to
me what's going on. And you know, he told me,
you know, how they found it. He was doing this
and then they you know, found that he had cancer
and what they needed to do and how long it's
gonna take and stuff like that. So, you know, then
(03:36):
he got off the phone. I'm telling my wife like
this dude, you know, and they have surgery tomorrow, man,
and and so we just prayed on it, man. And
then he broke out of the hospital a week before
they wanted him leave, you know, for real, man, I'm like,
people like, I'll be home in a week, you know,
he telling me this why you know, you know, while
(03:57):
we're talking about the surgery, is be home next week,
And I'm like, prime, you can't get out of the
hospite of that quick got to having a major service,
and he just got quiet, you know, and they held
him in there, you know, but then he forced him
out of there, you know, a week later than you know.
They wanted to keep him for a month, but he
got out of there in two weeks. So he came
(04:19):
to camp and that's where he was, you know, just
hanging out, and you had different goals, you know, he
was down one hundred and seventy. He wanted to get
up to one hundred and ninety, he wanted to go
to the Big twelve meeting, you know, opening up the season.
So he met all his goals and went out to
see each one of his kids practiced. And now he's back,
you know, doing what he's got to do in Colorado.
Speaker 6 (04:41):
Man, well that's.
Speaker 1 (04:43):
Good to hear. Man, it's uh, are you talking about
that little Tenderronnie that he got? No mind, I'm not
gonna be messy.
Speaker 3 (04:48):
Come up, you know, yeah, I ain't gonna be messy.
I'm now now you can be mess to go. When
I first saw him, like Prime needs to show it.
You one to the other. We got, you know, like elf,
you know, I bet I'm like, you know, my first time.
Speaker 1 (05:05):
You know, wow, Man, she find to cry out crushing
her for a long time.
Speaker 3 (05:14):
Man, I thought it was one of these kids. I'm like,
come on, Prime, come on Belichick.
Speaker 1 (05:18):
Yeah, yeah, he's prom Belichick. At least she had thirties
though he was in his sixties.
Speaker 3 (05:26):
So yeahgether and I'm like, yo, Prime, come on, young Belichick.
But y'all all got that problem man, man, Okay.
Speaker 1 (05:36):
All right, listen, probably got no toes and no bladder.
He's still pulling. He still he ain't got no toes
and no still I'm just saying he.
Speaker 3 (05:49):
Got a half a leg. Yeah, half a leg.
Speaker 4 (05:53):
Godg they just they just willing that poor man away
insteadily just losing body.
Speaker 1 (05:58):
Partge, that's your famous boy. You could be losing buddy limbs.
Speaker 4 (06:03):
And you know what just listening to listening to parts
of his press conference and how you know he struggles
with things, but you sit in it for a minute
and then you just you move on, you know, just
like you said, man, you set goals, you hit him
you day at a time, and just he some people
don't care for prime, but man, we need more, the
(06:26):
more most prime we can get because he's such a
positive you know, he's very there's a very thin line
between being confident and arrogant, and he walks that line
very well. But man, he he is such a positive
influence and just things that he's gone through and overcome,
a lot of people would have given up and here
he is doing what he's doing.
Speaker 3 (06:45):
Man, Man, you got I'm telling you. And when me
and him, and that's the thing about when you get
to see to see the human being, and uh, you know,
he's like God got me, you know, And then he
just move on. You know, He's like, hey, you got
a plan. You know I'm gonna share this. So he
(07:07):
he got a faith, man, that's unreal. So that that's
the key to it all. You know that you know
what you believe in and who you believe in. So
but anyway, you're right, Shannon. I mean, it's just line
between love and hate with that guy. Many those that
love property those that hate just crying away.
Speaker 4 (07:29):
Well, thanks for sharing that, man. That's a that's a
good appreciate the insight.
Speaker 3 (07:33):
Well, I'm glad. I'm glad he's trying to talk about
it because everybody looking at me like, you know what's wrong? Man,
You won't say that. I'm like the reason I know
what's wrong. But you know I'm not gonna say.
Speaker 4 (07:43):
That, you know, yeah yeah, oh man. Well let's talk
a little football. You get to watch some practice on Sunday, some.
Speaker 3 (07:50):
Paths, man, bruhe's injuries.
Speaker 6 (07:54):
My guy that mid tent has been busy this week.
Speaker 3 (07:58):
Huh Gym and uh Brett Brown. They have no smiles
on his face right now. Every time you speak to him,
little a quick grunt, you know what I'm saying, fin Line,
bro On. They faces so I mean Louise Rob Jones
and then to turn around and lose guiding. I mean
they rolled up on his leg and holler, boy, I
(08:20):
thought it was I thought that. Yeah. Boy. I was
standing right next Doorn and I boy, he was just
you know, moaning. I'm like this, this ain't good because
a lot of times players you know, you know, they
won't loan or they you know, you hit that initial
scream a hollow, but after that, you know, they kind
of he boy, he would not let them. You know,
(08:40):
I was glad when he walked off the field. I said,
it ain't as bad as you think, y'all. You know,
and then you know, everything started leaking out and and
uh but I talked to Will maclay and I said, Will,
what y'all what y'all gonna do? Is this Austin Richard's time?
He said, nah, no, this Nate. Nate commons time so
each position and has a backup in each position. If
(09:03):
your guy head of you go down, your backup gets
the majority of those reps. You say, you know, Austin
Richards was still a little bit of left tackle, but
right now it's can Nate Thomas number seventy one handlet
you know, and so.
Speaker 5 (09:17):
So huhate Thomas stepping in yet.
Speaker 3 (09:22):
Nate Thomas stepping in like Terrence Steele missed the first
day of pads and it was it was awesome. Richards
taking all the reps. You know, he didn't see a
lot of left tackle unless he's the third team left tackle.
You know, he's the second team right right tackle. So
(09:43):
each one of these guys got a position and they're
really letting them compete. I mean when I when I
brought up Austin Richards, you know, it wasn't a hesitation
in what Will McLay said, He's like Nate Thomas. I mean,
Richard would get some look over there. So uh, but
we'll see how you know, Jess, we'll see how this
(10:03):
hold up with with the preseason. So we'll see if
everybody's gonna get that fair shape with the preseason.
Speaker 1 (10:09):
Absolutely, Nick, you always get excited because next week the
Rams come rolling into uh into town. You know, who
is somebody that kind of has shown you that they
might have a little bit of that a little bit
of that dog get him.
Speaker 3 (10:25):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (10:26):
This training camp.
Speaker 3 (10:26):
So far, it's been it's been t J bas Uh
stepping up to the plate. You know, mixing it up. Uh.
Other than that right there, I can't get a feel
on our booker, you know, uh he he he, he's
a rookie. He's a rookie and he and he's one
minute he's looking good. He you know, he done rolled
(10:48):
a few people out of there, and the next minute,
you know, they're they're getting especial on his pulling. His
pulling kind of got me worried because he doesn't miss
more than none to hit, you know what I'm saying.
So I want to see what he's gonna do when
we get against rams and we started getting him out
there pulling, you know, verse even versus past when he pulled,
and even when it's run, he ain't getting a good
(11:09):
shot on these guys. He's kind of half man in it.
And I don't know if it's because they you know,
they don't want to hit nobody, dig nobody out of there.
But he needs to get a little bit more physical
on that. But right now, you know, everybody's you know,
you win a battle, you lose a battle, you it's
a draw, but it's not as physical as it was
(11:30):
when there was just no paths at all. I mean,
there was one hundred miles an hour where they got
on the paths, they kind of trying to feel their
way through it and trying to build some continuity and
how they duce blocking because this rally a single block.
You know, we have had no one on one pass
rushing and no one on one run blocking. It's been
(11:51):
teen blocking, and there's been a lot of deucee blocking.
It's been a lot of help blocking, so we you
haven't seen a lot of one on one and let
been at that at your tackle positions, but in the
guard and center position it always kind of been helped blocking.
So ain't nobody's been out there on the I one yet?
Speaker 5 (12:07):
I guess that's by design? Is that something new?
Speaker 3 (12:10):
Yes, it's just the way they run plays. Instead of
bringing in a tight ender as the extra block, and
they bring in uh uh Shadip Charles. So either they
have Austin Richard as that extra block or so it's
like aligneman always on an outside linebacker or deep or
small defensive end. I'll tell you what on the defense. Know,
with Sam Sam Williams, I mean you wouldn't have thought
(12:33):
that he had his knee rip reconstructed and he helped
tossing cats and running past cats man and uh, you know,
I mean that that number fifty four. Sam Williams has
been kind of getting after us a little bit.
Speaker 1 (12:47):
And to answer your question, Kurt, it is by design.
That's one of the things that Shotty talked about was
he's not pretty much into the one on one drills
like you normally was seeting, uh, nine on seven, the
seven on seven. He wants to use every opportunity to
do a lot of the eleven on the eleven team stuff.
He feels that he feels that that's a better use
(13:10):
of the time instead of doing individual drills and the
one on ones and all kinds of teams.
Speaker 5 (13:14):
That's how as players, How do you guys feel either way?
Speaker 3 (13:18):
I can deal with it either way. Either way, I
can deal with it as long as I'm getting the
opportunity to go through the plays, go through the routine,
because you get a lot of good individual work with
coach Connor, you get a lot of high intense individual work.
As long as I'm that guy, as long as I
(13:39):
can put my hands on it and see it and
do it while I'm seeing and doing it at the
same time, I'm good. I'm good. How do you feel
about it.
Speaker 1 (13:48):
Yeah, yeah, you know, because one on ones aren't for everybody,
and every position has them. But I don't know if
sometimes that gives you a clear evaluation of a player.
I think more of the eleven on the level stuff
gives you a very good look because everything now is
it's it's you know, even when you're when you're doing
one on one routes right with a dB, sometimes the
(14:13):
quarterback don't have that long Sometimes the dB, you know,
he may be looking at something. No, there may be
something that's coming up, like, so it doesn't give a
true indication. I get that it's fun, it's competing and
all that kind of stuff, but I prefer I would
prefer to do more of the eleven on the level.
That's going to be what the game feels like. That's
gonna be what how we break the huddle, how we
line up? You know, all that stuff is happening around
you from a receiver perspective, you know, learning what it
(14:36):
means to settle in a hole, knowing what it means
to be the third progression, knowing what it means to
be a hot in site. You know, all these different things.
So I would prefer to do more of the level
and level like Koshati is doing. I think that's a
better use overall.
Speaker 3 (14:51):
The time many they would run one hundred plays right quickly.
It's nothing, but this the temple that they've running that
and the way they're coaching it is they coaching it
off films and then if you come back right on
for the second practice to walk through. They are coaching, coaching, coaching.
But when they are running uh these padded practices, they
(15:14):
are they going one hundred miles an hour. It don't
always look good, but because you don't, because you have
guys running in and out, like I said, you'll you'll
see uh back and get four, number ten to get
four and then you know, and then maybe uh gri
or get three or four. But they are running one
(15:34):
hundred miles an hour trying to get through these things.
Music gets loud, but you cannot hear yourself. Think they
be bamming that that young boy music guy because I
can't understand a word they're saying. I understand my grandma's saying.
I can't understand the word they discussing. Grandma, don't worry
about it.
Speaker 6 (15:54):
Are they are they do?
Speaker 4 (15:56):
Is that serving like a dual purpose is that the
Pete Carroll mentality of let's stay young, let's stay hipeless,
high energy, and then also the crowd noise and more
game like situations.
Speaker 6 (16:09):
Is that what they're doing making it so loud for.
Speaker 3 (16:11):
Yeah, they want they want to assimilate. Like Jesse was
saying that that leven On level that s similates closest
to the game as you can get it. And and
there these coaches are hollering, they are screaming and running
and back in the players speed and they try and
especially the wide receiver, the quarterback guys like that. They
(16:33):
going one hundred miles an hour. Man, And it seemed
like everybody got a coach. It's like, you know, it's
two hour. Receivers be running back for two guys, be
running back with them. You know, I'm like, where's the
wide receiver? Coaches? Like eight of them look like you know,
they with the officers, like everybody got a coach. So
and everybody's moving one hundred miles an miles. Nobody seems
(16:56):
to run over nobody. That's why these injuries are a
kind of weird, you know. Uh, these are the type
injuries they could have happened when they were out of pads.
It ain't like the pass is the reason these injuries
are happening. It's just guys are going one hundred miles
an hour and all of a sudden somebody a tripped
and roll on somebody's leg, and I thow, these injuries
(17:17):
are happening.
Speaker 4 (17:17):
You know a couple of positions. I have questions about
what are you seeing? I'm hearing good things back in Dallas.
Speaker 6 (17:28):
Two things.
Speaker 4 (17:28):
One Miles Sanders hearing good things about him, and then two, Yeah,
Cavante Turpin is a huge part of this offense right now?
Speaker 6 (17:37):
Is that right?
Speaker 3 (17:38):
Yeah? They featured him at running back one a couple
of runs, and then yesterday they threw him that ball
like seven eight, gave him seven eight targets and he
seemed to be catching the majority of them. And that
if I have one grite this training camp, fellas, and
if I have one.
Speaker 6 (17:56):
Gripe like no, sir.
Speaker 3 (18:00):
Is Jaen Tober. I was jayling tober uh Illinois. These guys, uh,
you know, I ain't gonna catch the ball. We've had
a lot of drops, I mean even pickings, and CD
has dropped a few, but our third receivers the best
(18:22):
hands we've had out here has been the tight end. Uh.
You know, Jason, he's had the best hands out of
I mean, everybody else seemed like they don't get started
unless they drop two or three balls. I mean, Dak
has put it on uh Jalen a couple of times, Jess,
And I'm saying to myself, is this kid not getting it?
(18:45):
I mean, if they throw two hundred passes this year, Bro,
you're gonna be lucky if you get twelve of them.
All of this balls are going to CD and the
pickings show these people who you are.
Speaker 5 (18:56):
I mean, he can't afford.
Speaker 3 (18:59):
Them. Cavnte picked it up yesterday. He had a nice
day yesterday.
Speaker 6 (19:05):
And what about the running backs.
Speaker 3 (19:08):
The running backs, like you say, Miles Centers has been
looking sweet. Uh Uh. The the Jayda't the blue guy.
He's had some nice, sweet runs. But it's been a
grind for everybody else. But because they they they hit them,
they come through the holes and they thuwed them up.
So uh, and it ain't been a whole lot of
(19:29):
places to run because they be getting after and in
these statanies be filling in down on the holes and stuff.
So uh, it's been it's been kind of disjointed for
the offense. Round. Like I said, you will see a
good play. You know, every two or three plays the
defense is leading the charge. Right now, I will say, then.
Speaker 4 (19:48):
One other thing and I'll turn it over to curtain
Jesse before we let you get out of here. I
know we always it's just tradition, tradition as a Cowboys
fan to always talk about the backup quarterback, no.
Speaker 6 (20:02):
Matter I'm not doing it, no matter who is.
Speaker 1 (20:04):
I'm not doing this.
Speaker 6 (20:05):
But I just know I don't I'm not doing it.
Speaker 4 (20:06):
I just want to know Nate because I've heard player interviews.
I'm not saying he's going to start. I'm not saying
he needs to start. But arm strength and ball velocity
is Joe Milton.
Speaker 6 (20:17):
That much? Does? He got some zip on the ball.
Speaker 3 (20:22):
He can go one hundred miles an hour, but just
don't never know where. That's all I want my number ten, right,
you're talking about number ten. It's two people that don't
have names for me yet, and I hope I don't
get in trouble. But it's two people that don't have names.
Number fifty eight a number ten, okay, and I see
them do something special their number fifty eight at number ten.
Speaker 6 (20:45):
All right, fair enough, Jesse Kirk.
Speaker 4 (20:49):
Any final questions before we let Nate go enjoy the
day off.
Speaker 5 (20:53):
What's going on out there right now? They got a
day off or they just relaxing everybody?
Speaker 3 (20:59):
No, the players, A few players are walking around or
a lot of them. You know, the veteran guys are
taking out. You see the rookiees are walking around, you know,
just doing their thing. And you know the training room,
training room full with the injured players. Everybody just trying
to chill it out because I guess coaches, coach, Hey,
(21:20):
we'll be back in Pad tomorrow. So the next few
days going to be back in Pad. So they tell
them you may not want to straight to a far
away because you're gonna be getting after it now.
Speaker 1 (21:30):
I do want to have I do have one question
before you head out with Brian schottenheiman talking about he
wont a physical he wants a physical, physical, physical football team.
And the only way that you get to that point
is when you put pads on. You play at the
physical style of football and you're hitting your thud and
all that kind of stuff. But what the injuries that
are happening. What side of the finch do you fall on?
(21:54):
Are you one of the guys that are saying we
might need to pull back a little bit because of
the injuries that are happening, or hey, keep shotty Stantinos
down on what you what you believe in, and keep
pushing forward.
Speaker 3 (22:06):
Keep practicing, because these injuries are not because uh uh
of because they have them passed. We we lost uh
the big tight end span Ford. We didn't have them passed.
So it it ain't all about to pass. You know, everybody,
(22:26):
you know, if these guys flollow on the ground, get
rolled up on, you get a pull hamstring, they cause
the pad. This guy gotta keep pushing forward because uh,
unlike last year, I think offensively that we have enough
veteran offensive alignment that we can continue to push forward.
Now the secondary that is that is a mass unit.
(22:49):
So it's boy nutrition, whoever survives out of them makes
the seed. If you're not playing or if you're not digs,
you know, everybody else whoever survived makes the team. That's
how Jimmy Donney, that's how all the good good, the
great coach, Hey, whoever survived. We'll just use what we
have that's how this th ain't got to go.
Speaker 4 (23:11):
All right, Nate, Well we'll talk to you on Thursday.
Go enjoy the day off, Go ride your bike, do
whatever you're doing.
Speaker 6 (23:19):
What are you gonna do today?
Speaker 3 (23:19):
Yeah, I mean I'm just gonna chill. Man, just read
my book. Man, probably go down there and get me
a little helmet. I forgot my bike helmet, so go
get me a helmet, so you know, I can. You know,
if I do ride, I'll be okay. But man, y'all enjoyed.
Man yourselves back at the crib man, and just I
thought you was coming out, y'a'll.
Speaker 1 (23:40):
Be there August time through the fourteenth.
Speaker 3 (23:42):
Well how about how about you, Shannon? Has you worked
it out?
Speaker 6 (23:46):
I know I'm gonna be here with Kurt.
Speaker 3 (23:49):
I know Kurt wasn't coming. I ain't.
Speaker 6 (23:54):
All right, brother, We'll take care and we'll see you
on Thursday.
Speaker 3 (23:57):

Speaker 6 (28:01):
They will do whatever we ask him to do.

Yeah, if you are listening over at Wingstop, shout out
because y'all have been the perfect partner for us in
our craziness.
Speaker 1 (28:21):
God tell you something about Wingstop that my boy. First
of all, Wingstop, I appreciate the new fry change. I
appreciate the new fry chain, the change the fries. No,
did they better? They still have the like the sugar
salt know that state. Okay, fries are different, not those
other ones.
Speaker 6 (28:37):
Go check it.
Speaker 1 (28:38):
I wasn't a fan of the other one and I
couldn't say it publicly. But now that they've changed. You
can't thank you, appreciate you for my whole boy changed
my life. I never never even do'n on me to
even do this or think about eight bones wings that
I almost said something.
Speaker 3 (28:56):
To say more.
Speaker 1 (28:58):
Mis came down like she's my come here. Yeah, no,
we're not eating bonus wings. We're not doing that. We're
not children and we're not doing that.
Speaker 6 (29:08):
Okay some of us are.
Speaker 1 (29:10):
But my boy told me, because I like to get
the hot honey, the hot honey rub Yep, it's good,
he said, get the extra seasoning on it.
Speaker 6 (29:19):
Really yeah, hotter or honeyer.
Speaker 1 (29:22):
It's it's a savior.
Speaker 6 (29:25):
It's like saltier.
Speaker 1 (29:26):
It's better.
Speaker 4 (29:27):
Extra extra honey rub on the hot honey. Oh, extra extra.
Speaker 1 (29:31):
Never dawned on me. And I went there and I
did it, and I called them immediately and I said, man,
not only do I love you, I said, but because
I said, I'll run somebody over for.
Speaker 6 (29:40):
You right now.
Speaker 1 (29:40):
It was I was like that good huh. I was like,
why did I think of this? And then when you
like dip it in the blue cheese and then it
comes out, it's like, oh it's so, I might go
get me a ten piece after we done this ship.
Speaker 6 (29:51):
Man, I might have it for dinner.
Speaker 1 (29:53):
It's so good man. So if y'all out there, I'm
sorry we stopped. But if I make God run out
of salt the little the little season, then get the
extra season. And on actress.
Speaker 6 (30:02):
Good tip. Inside tip from from Jesse Holly to.
Speaker 1 (30:05):
You always rumping on your chest.
Speaker 5 (30:06):
Yeah, the inside tip last week was right on the money.
Speaker 6 (30:09):
Oh, speaking of you nailed it. Go ahead, you nailed it.
Patch yourself on the back. You nailed it.
Speaker 4 (30:16):
Not only did you nail the Hey, while we're waiting
on this part, they're gonna sign somebody less high profile,
you said, someone that needs to prove themselves coming off
of a maybe just to kind of a year.
Speaker 6 (30:30):
And you, I mean, did you know.
Speaker 4 (30:32):
This was going did you get some inside info or
did you just guess it because it always happens every year.
Speaker 1 (30:39):
Blueprint that the joy nailed it. It's the blueprint. It
is the blueprint. It is the blueprint. It is the blueprint.
And they they and this is why Michael sits back
and Dave Buda Gutis's back and they go, oh, we're
right on schedule. This is what they do. Yeah right, Oh,
I was a coming next. This is what they do.
Speaker 6 (30:56):
They Are you worried about Mica and getting a deal done?
Speaker 1 (30:59):
No?
Speaker 6 (31:00):
Before camp?
Speaker 1 (31:01):
I mean I was never worried.
Speaker 6 (31:03):
No.
Speaker 1 (31:03):
No, he's practiced, and so that should tell you practic.
Speaker 6 (31:06):
He's practice, he's out there, he's out there practices.
Speaker 1 (31:10):
No, he's guys. When you're you're arguably the best defensive
player on the planet, you're getting a deal done. Yeah,
you don't let these guys back, you know.
Speaker 3 (31:22):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (31:22):
I laughed. I was like, oh, stiff back. But you
helped the three hundred pound off the field in the
locker room. Okay. I was like, that's three hundred pounds.
Do is putting all the weight on your on your
shoulders and back, But that stiff back to keep you
out of practice? Speaking up the leadership though.
Speaker 6 (31:35):
They had Uh.
Speaker 4 (31:38):
Ferguson was on the fan yesterday and they replayed it
this morning. Whenever I was driving, takes a little shot
at uh.
Speaker 1 (31:46):
He said.
Speaker 4 (31:46):
He No, I'm not taking shots at anyone. But when
people leave here and you're complaining about tours, you should
be focusing on something. He goes, I had tours at Wisconsin.
He goes, that's not an issue. That's not, he goes.
I just feel like some people are just a little salty.
Speaker 1 (32:04):
I was like, Oh, that's that's that new money talking.
Speaker 4 (32:10):
Said I'm not taking shots, but then took.
Speaker 1 (32:14):
No disrespect, no disrespect followed by disrespect.
Speaker 6 (32:18):
So I thought that was I thought that was interesting.
Speaker 5 (32:20):
But do you guys like the deal Ferguson, Yeah, no
reason not to guess.
Speaker 4 (32:25):
It's the blueprint, right, get him on the cheap, had
an off year, signed him doing a lesser deal, and
then hope he breaks out.
Speaker 5 (32:31):
Right another one coming anybody next?
Speaker 1 (32:33):
Well, I think that the.
Speaker 6 (32:37):
Besides eleven.
Speaker 1 (32:39):
His the crazy part about it. And Jeff was talking
about this earlier today, Jeff Kavanaugh, His is the easiest
deal to make, Like Mike is the easiest deal to make.
It's already you go right to the.
Speaker 6 (32:52):
Top of the list, like one dollar more than what
the last get.
Speaker 1 (32:54):
Jayson, Like like Jake Ferguson, you had to figure out
where do you fit? Like right, like you're not at
the top?
Speaker 4 (33:00):
Who is he?
Speaker 3 (33:00):
Yeah? Right?
Speaker 1 (33:01):
You know at the bottom end. You had a good
year two years ago, two years ago you had a
last year. Where do you fit? Right there? There's some
more maneuver we had to do with your deal to
figure out where you fit in the in the in
the in the lineage of tight ends and salary.
Speaker 6 (33:16):
This one you just google TJ. Watt contract. Hey, go,
Michael one dollar.
Speaker 1 (33:20):
More and and do a couple more million dollars a year.
I should say the Miles Guart deal, the Miles Gua deal,
because it's four years. TJ got three miles d day,
getting him four. They're not getting him get out of
here with three. Yeah, but he.
Speaker 5 (33:34):
I can't remember the reporter. One of the reporters wrote
that the speculation is though, that Parsons camp once four
years for total compensation to be about fifty million a year,
total conversation being two hundred million a year for four years.
And that's two hundred million a year for four No
fifty years, but about fifty average. That's a pretty good
(33:54):
jump from the forty one or whatever.
Speaker 1 (33:56):
That No, that's negotiating one on one. We know what's
at forty. We act for fifty. You say forty seven,
you say forty forty two, We say forty seven, you
say forty three. We say you got a deal.
Speaker 5 (34:13):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (34:13):
Yeah, So you start, really, because here's how here's how
David is looking at it because remember this is going
to be what an extension, right, this is an extension,
so this won't take hold until next year. So they're
just foreshadowing, saying, if it's forty this year, if it's
forty this year. The numbers just came out, right, green
(34:34):
Bay has to release there is because they're a public company, right,
So the numbers just came out about what the owners
were getting in. We already kind of kind of know
what the salary cap is going to be for next year.
So now what David Marla Gatta is doing is he's
saying it's an extension. So I don't want to be
just the highest paid this year. I want to make
sure we're hitting the market next year too, because that's
(34:56):
when the market, that's when it starts for us. So
they're looking at it saying, yet, next year is when
he starts, So I want it to be higher because
next year the number is gonna go up, and I
don't know who the next pass rusher is in, is
in line for a contract.
Speaker 6 (35:11):
It never goes down, right, It's always gonna.
Speaker 1 (35:14):
Go And so for the extension part of it, they're saying, yeah,
next year when it starts. We want to make sure
that we're keeping pace with how the league is going. Yeah.
So now I don't think it's gonna jump from forty
one to fifty, but it might be forty four next year. Wow.
So they're saying, like, we want to be in that ballpark.
We want to make sure.
Speaker 6 (35:33):
That my back the next my back be stiff.
Speaker 1 (35:36):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (35:37):
Yeah, we want to make sure my whole body be
still for forty million dollars.
Speaker 5 (35:41):
I don't know the the details of Watson deal with
Was he doing the same thing, Like he's extension for
next year, so he's saying forty one next year?
Speaker 1 (35:50):
No, WAT was just more so see like well what
he's just trying to get his end? Why is more
so like I'm thirty something, this is my last hurrah.
I don't know how this thing gonna go. Wat's probably
see that. He's probably looking at it and saying, I
want to retire a Steeler. I don't know how much
of a window we have open. So let me get
mom before I get out of here. You know what
(36:11):
I'm saying, Because I don't think he's looking at it
as being the highest paid. Mike is looking at HS
being the highest paid. And this is the like because
I believe, I believe TJ was one of the people
that set the market his first contract. This is like
contract three for him, the rookie, the big deal, and
now the second big deal. Michael is on the front
(36:32):
end of the of the of the the big big deal,
the first you know, I mean, the first big deal.
Speaker 4 (36:38):
All right, let's take our second and final break and
when we come back, we will talk more football Dallas
Cowboys and close out the show when we come back
on hanging with the.

Speaker 1 (40:12):
Days you get five off the rip. You're getting five
cents off every time you use it.
Speaker 4 (40:16):
Yeah, really, no matter what, every time, you know, it's
always amazed me how much time and effort people will
spend driving to different gas stations across town to save
fifteen cents a gallon.
Speaker 1 (40:30):
I do it?
Speaker 4 (40:31):
Do you?
Speaker 1 (40:32):
If I'm not on the if I'm like.
Speaker 4 (40:34):
Like the total is like four dollars, I'm like, I
ain't driving all the way over there my four dollars.
Speaker 1 (40:40):
But like sometimes like if I need gas right and
I'm like up here up north and or I'm in
Holland poll, tell me you.
Speaker 6 (40:47):
Go put five dollars off, you get back to eleven.
Speaker 1 (40:51):
Give me, give you another side of town. I swear
to go save the four dollars. Swear it's three or
five over here, I know when it's two eighty nine.
Speaker 6 (41:01):
Just a mental thing?
Speaker 4 (41:02):
Or is that like growing up poor you save money
like I'm cheap a lot of stuff.
Speaker 1 (41:07):
I'm super I'm cheap.
Speaker 4 (41:08):
Like I'll go and if something's on sale, like my kid,
poor thing will go.
Speaker 6 (41:13):
He'll be like is that on sale? Because I tell
you no toys listen.
Speaker 1 (41:19):
I'm cheap man. I'm trying to save every dollar I can.
Speaker 6 (41:22):
Is that just growing up at you grew up? Or
you just pinch pennies?
Speaker 1 (41:26):
Is it from no? Because I wasn't always like that.
Speaker 6 (41:29):
Where did it change when you get cheap?
Speaker 1 (41:31):
I think you just you do these waves like you go.
You you start poor, then you get money, you start
spending like you got money, and then you kind of
come back down in reality and.
Speaker 4 (41:40):
Then you realize how stupid some of the stuff is
you spend money on. And then you're like, I'm like,
I don't take that four dollars over here?
Speaker 1 (41:46):
Who needs that? Who needs this expensive thing? Who needs that?
Speaker 3 (41:48):
Now?
Speaker 1 (41:49):
Does it fit? Is it comfortable? Sign me up?
Speaker 6 (41:52):
Give me five of them?
Speaker 1 (41:53):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (41:53):
Under each color.
Speaker 1 (41:54):
I don't want to go shopping, don't need the name
brand on it. I'm me.
Speaker 6 (41:58):
Are you? Are you curd?
Speaker 1 (41:59):
You cheap?
Speaker 3 (42:00):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (42:00):
I mean more than I want to be. But it's
I agree with the wave thing we think we're we're
about over that tipping point. We're gonna be okay. And
it's like, you.
Speaker 4 (42:09):
Know, something breaks their kids up wind up having another kid.
Speaker 5 (42:13):
Yeah it was as car trouble or whatever.
Speaker 4 (42:17):
Oh I thought you meant by like having them? Here
comes another. What's something you guys will spend money on
like you would probably be like petticure something you.
Speaker 1 (42:27):
Would, by the way, So we leave here, I'm gonna go.
Speaker 6 (42:31):
We still got to do that as a show. We
haven't done that yet.
Speaker 4 (42:34):
What's something you'll spend money on that that is out
of the norm.
Speaker 5 (42:39):
This past weekend, I spent like fifty bucks on albums.
Speaker 1 (42:42):
Okay, I got done with that.
Speaker 6 (42:43):
I'm like, why why did the vinyl?
Speaker 1 (42:45):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (42:45):
Okay, so you still listening to as That's cool.
Speaker 1 (42:48):
But see I try to justify it, ass you know
I deserve yeah, yeah, right, like I work pretty darn hard.
I deserve this for me. It's probably it's probably seafood.
Speaker 6 (43:02):
Really, yeah, you like you like seafood? Did they have
good seafood Jersey?
Speaker 1 (43:06):
Yes?
Speaker 6 (43:08):
Right, we're right down right now, you're on the coast.
But that water up there is questionable.
Speaker 1 (43:11):
That's all good. We caps can run out of that
water baby seafood.
Speaker 6 (43:15):
So you'll go spend, you'll go drop money on a
good out to eat. What's your what's your favorite seafood
place around here?
Speaker 4 (43:20):
So I go to and and it's because it's hard
to find good seafood.
Speaker 1 (43:24):
So it's part the food I like it's and another
part is really customer service. Like that's so I go
to the shell Shock right over here off of top
till On. That's crazy. I watched.
Speaker 6 (43:36):
I thought it fell off. Sounds like I'll get it
after the show.
Speaker 1 (43:40):
It's the sholl Shock right out here off of like
Parker was a park or something, Parker Road plan. I
go there and I can easily and it's a little
bit of a habit, like it's like my Saturday thing.
I can easily go and spend over one hundred dollars
and you don't.
Speaker 9 (44:00):
No, what the hell a lot of f if you're
not in a steakhouse lobster and I get it all
to sketch it just I get bread man, I get
the I get the crab legs, the shrimp I'll get.
Speaker 1 (44:14):
I'll get some broccoli mixed in there, catch his sink hot.
I'll get a loft of tail in there, I can easily,
I can easily do a buck twenty five, buck thirty
with no look.
Speaker 6 (44:23):
That's impressive.
Speaker 1 (44:25):
And then like the customer services.
Speaker 6 (44:26):
Just they take care of you.
Speaker 1 (44:27):
It's just it's just phenomenal. It's phenomenal. My boy Dom,
he's an Eagles fan too.
Speaker 6 (44:33):
But and his name is Dom.
Speaker 1 (44:35):
That's crazy. I didn't even think about that. I didn't
even put that together. That's crazy. And he's white and
he's ball head, just like that. It's not as big
as Dom. But like Dom sees me walking in from
the parking lot, I come sit down and he just
like water eliminade. Yeah, the orders already in there.
Speaker 6 (44:54):
There are very few already in there are very few.
Speaker 4 (44:57):
Experiences to me, like going to your favorite bar or
restaurant where they treat you like that, no matter where
it is, where they know you. They're personable, especially if
you go with somebody or you take somebody and they
you know, they know your name, they know your order.
Speaker 1 (45:14):
They are taking nobody. It's too expensive.
Speaker 6 (45:18):
Hell yeah, if you spend one hundred twenty five bucks
a person.
Speaker 1 (45:21):
Here's the thing you want to know. You want to
know if I love you I'll take it a get
and see food. There you go if I love you,
because it's gonna be two hundred it's gona be two
undred pus of dollars. It's gonna be two hundred dollars.
Like what tip? What I eat?
Speaker 4 (45:36):

More than we should? Probably, but we bounce around a lot,

in Arlington that once pretty regular occasion, yeah, which is
Connie Rosso and Division Brewery and stuff like that. So okay,

curus seafood.
