So how many positions have big needs that need to be filled in 2026? Five? Six? More? Will they be able to fill those needs in one offseason? Are they at risk of spreading mediocracy throughout the team? Also, are the Cowboys hoping Jadeveon Clowney will be a rotational piece at defensive end next season or the main man? Plus, the trend toward tight ends, Dak’s day in Washington and more.

Good day to office?

Speaker 3 (02:01):
Good day at the office?

Speaker 2 (02:02):
Cowboys?

Speaker 5 (02:03):
One Cowboy victory makes it a little bit easier to
talk about what else you talk about football?

Speaker 2 (02:10):
Let's talk about football about the Coupboys.

Speaker 5 (02:12):
What did you think or let me rephrase that, were
you able to take anything from this game? Just knowing
that neither team was really in it and who was
playing and you know, some sloppy plays, Were there any
bright spots? Was there anything you could take away from
this game and go, Okay, this was a positive or
this was something to build on for next year or

(02:34):
is it just kind of is what it is?

Speaker 3 (02:36):
Second game to the end of the season.

Speaker 6 (02:38):
You know, one thing I did take from the game,
and I want to see this implemented, I guess in
the next game and something that I think that should
be looked at going forward. And I caution, not caution,
but I encourage I encourage the fans who are following football.
I've said this on the show before, but every year

(03:01):
there's some sort of trend that happens, right, whether it's
you know, the advent of the small slot receiver and
the advent of.

Speaker 2 (03:11):
You know, four wides, and.

Speaker 6 (03:12):
So every you know, everything takes this turn at some
point in time.

Speaker 2 (03:17):
And I just want people.

Speaker 6 (03:20):
To just watch in these playoffs where you start getting
to these sophisticated play callers, designers, schemers. And the thing
that I saw and I want to continue to see,
is you're going to see more tight end based personnels.
It's on the way teams are going to start running

(03:44):
more tight end sets twelve personnel, thirteen personnel, thirteen personnel
in particular.

Speaker 2 (03:50):
Why do you think that is?

Speaker 6 (03:52):
Because I'm creating a new mismatch. I'm creating because now
when I go thirteen personnel, which is the considered big personnel,
you match it with big personnel. So now I get
my athletic tight end on one of your big people.
So whether you're bringing in more linebackers, so now I
create the matchup. You're not bringing a nickel, you're not

(04:13):
bringing another safety. You're bringing in a linebacker. So now
you may have a safety cover one of the tight ends,
but the other two tight ends will be covered by linebackers. Now,
if I have an athletic tight end, I create the
matchup now with space, and now he gets to run
away from a linebacker in open space because I'll take
that other receiver and I'll have him clear out of side.

(04:34):
And now I got a tight end right there, man,
the man on a linebacker. So it's just all about
the new way that I can create an advantage. And
in the game, Brevist span Ford had a thirty something
yard pass in the game, and I'm like, Okay, we
know what Brevist span Ford is as a blocker, right

(04:55):
hillatious blockers, you know, God you can put on the
end line of scrimmage, can help with you know, blitz, pickup, chipping,
being that extra kind of office line in man a
lot of scrimmage. But if you can start getting him
more involved in the passing game. You got Jake Ferguson,
I won't put eighty six out there. You got Jake Ferguson,

(05:16):
you got Brether span Ford, And now maybe you can
add another tight end in the offseason. Right, So now
you start doing these, you start doing these matchups where
now you can have you know, you can go twenty
three personnel. No, you can go you can go hold
that personnel, be two wide receivers, three tight ends type situation,
empty backfield, or I can go twelve personnel or two

(05:37):
tight ends, two wide receivers. Now I'm creating that mismatch.
It helps in the passing game, right, big players in that.
So I want to see I thought, okay, what does
Brether span Ford now look like as a Brether span
Ford now look like as a as a pass catcher
in the Cowboys offense. I want to see that kind
of go forward a little bit.

Speaker 1 (06:00):
I'm just laughing. I picked a phone. Oh, I thought
you when you saw it, and.

Speaker 5 (06:05):
Jesse on one second, Kirk, come draggon ass in here late.
He's the one that texted us and said wingstop Jerseys
doesn't even.

Speaker 6 (06:16):
Have that run up and get that's crazy that what
is going on?

Speaker 3 (06:22):
Okay today.

Speaker 1 (06:25):
And everything?

Speaker 2 (06:26):
You were the main one that said up.

Speaker 3 (06:28):
Me and Nate and both thought, oh did we miss
a weed drop?

Speaker 7 (06:31):
Today?

Speaker 3 (06:32):
We're like, oh, cowboys? Jesse was like cowboys one. We're
like okay, all right.

Speaker 7 (06:35):
So I got stuck in a group of us went
out to lunch and the waiter just disappeared. And so
I'm sitting there waiting on the church.

Speaker 2 (06:42):
I thought she was late coming back from a meeting
with Derek.

Speaker 7 (06:45):
At the lunch.

Speaker 2 (06:46):
You out there, youll.

Speaker 3 (06:49):
Derek, Derek pay no.

Speaker 2 (06:53):
Man.

Speaker 7 (06:54):
But then yeah, in the rush, I forgot my jersey.
I'll run up there.

Speaker 3 (06:57):
You don't have to go ahead, Nate.

Speaker 1 (06:58):
More importantly, Uh, every team that's in the playoffs NFC wise,
it's Rams, forty nine, Ers, Seahawks, Bears. They're all three
tight ends. And if they're not hitting you with three

(07:20):
tight ends, they bringing in an extra lineman. They're bringing
in an extra lineman. You you is this a trend?
Just you talked about this eight weeks ago. This trend
is in full it ain't coming. It's in full effect. Bro,
It's full of blown. And I since you said, I've
been just watching every team. I like to look at

(07:43):
what does what is the new trend which you brought
and how many teams are in the playoffs because of it?
It's like six seven teams. And I'm not even going
over to the AFC talking about and talking about about
this there. What a lot of coaches have figured out

(08:04):
if you don't have that top four quarterback, that consensus
top four quarterback, you better find another way to win
and take that pressure off your quarterback. And to Jesse's point,
more and more offensive coordinators are saying, just like you said,
we're going to motion here, and we're motioning with a
purpose not just to confuse the defense, but to tell

(08:26):
our quarterback this is the most likely place you can
throw the ball. And so I'm with you one hundred
percent in that right there, because it's some trends that
we libit behind as far as exploiting other defenses with
the same things that Jesse is talking about. We got

(08:46):
to catch up. We have to catch up as a
football team.

Speaker 7 (08:49):
I remember two thousand and early twenty tens or whatever
that you know, we needed Gavin Escobar because we're going
to do a two tight end formation with Witten, and
Patriots made their they were killing it. Yes, So is
this drastically different than what was going on back then?

Speaker 1 (09:07):
Daniels, we laughed at him. Uh Daniels, jass mc daniels,
We laughed at him. But he was one of those
early birds that were doing things different. But under Belichick
he couldn't get and then when he went as a
head coach, he failed. Where it's Ben Johnson. We never
especially Jesson, never backed off of this guy. Ben Johnson

(09:31):
is Ben Johnson. And evidently he reached out to management
with the Bears to say, if I'm your head coach,
I have to control this. And you can tell by
the way this team is ran that he controls all.

Speaker 2 (09:45):
So Kirk got Kirk won't call it. Things get delivered.

Speaker 3 (09:52):
Miss Kate to the rescue. Yeah, even text her.

Speaker 2 (09:57):
She listens to every show.

Speaker 1 (10:02):
You know, I don't. I look for trends that win.
You know. You know. I had a lot of people
I hate this team, I hate that team. I hate
this team. I said, well, quit hating it and watch
why why are they winning?

Speaker 2 (10:14):
Why?

Speaker 1 (10:14):
Why is this team winning? So I'm noticing these big
tight ends running around for the bars and running these big,
big tight ends running around for the forty nine ers,
you know, and they stood over the dancing and pop
locking and they study winning the game. I'm like, wow,
our big tight end goes and we lose. We lose
a player, We lose, we lose a player, we lose.

(10:35):
Forty Nineers lost thirteen players over the the whole season
and they fighting for the NFL, not just backup stars.

Speaker 2 (10:43):
Start warners.

Speaker 6 (10:44):
Yeah, Kelsey was out, I mean Kittle was out. You
know they they've lost uh huh Williams Willis he had
our last night. They they lost Brock party for a moment,
the time of the season. So here they are they
they won game away, be at the first place.

Speaker 1 (11:01):
No more excuses, there's no more excuses for we are injured.
There's no more excuses. If you're looking for your team
to be perfect, they have a perfect season. Those don't
exist anymore. Coach your players up.

Speaker 6 (11:20):
But this is also this is also this falls back
on a on roster construction.

Speaker 2 (11:27):
Yes, right, and see our problem is we we often.

Speaker 6 (11:36):
We often look at the guys who may have been
high draft picks that failed elsewhere as people that we
can come here and be our starters when we should
be able. We should be able to look at those
scenarios and go, there's enough footage of these guys to
show us that they are more of a depth piece

(11:58):
than a starter. Because now once we go with a
death piece, that's that now sets your bar, right, Like
if if if Mozzie Smith is your starter, Okay, what
what's behind him?

Speaker 2 (12:15):
You know what I'm saying.

Speaker 6 (12:17):
If that's your starter, what's behind him? The guy behind
him probably is going to be either on the level
or he is on or worse, or you'll be starting
him over him. So now your starter is at that
below average level. So when he goes out, you put
in another below level type player where if you know,

(12:38):
and no, if I don't want you know, no offense
to this player. But you know, you you your starter
is Kenneth Murray. Well, what happens when Keith Murray goes out?

Speaker 2 (12:47):
You go to Logan Wilson.

Speaker 6 (12:49):
He's at like and this is I'm gonna get off
my soapbox.

Speaker 2 (12:57):
The question has been out, you know in the game.

Speaker 6 (12:59):
Logan Wilson didn't play a snap in the Washington game,
and even you know, Stephen Jones came out and said
something that I thought was crazy, that there was a
confusion between the linebackers coach and how to get these
guys reps on the snap. Okay, uh, But when.

Speaker 2 (13:14):
You get benched and you not a problem like if
you if you.

Speaker 6 (13:18):
Are a headache, like a serious, serious headache, when you
get benched on the worst defense in the league, it
ain't a change of scenery.

Speaker 2 (13:29):
It's just not.

Speaker 6 (13:31):
When you're talking about the worst defense in the league
and they decide to go an opposite direction of you,
that ain't a change of scenery that's needed. It's not
because they're gonna say, bro, can you play better than him?
Come on, let's try him out. Then you come here
and you're like, why you can't get on the field
for the same day, reason couldn't get on the film

(13:51):
on the worst defense in the league.

Speaker 1 (13:54):
That's the second worst, you see what I'm saying.

Speaker 6 (13:56):
So it's like, but these are the guys who are
projected to be a star, so what comes behind that?

Speaker 3 (14:04):
Do you think along that lines?

Speaker 2 (14:07):
That from a.

Speaker 5 (14:09):
Because it seems like a lot of times there's the
right mentality with this team when it comes to drafting
and adding depth. Like's take Bozzie didn't turn into the
player you thought you drafted a tight end a few
years ago when you had a decent tight end room,
pretty good tight end room. So the thought process is there,

(14:31):
Let's let's get to a place where we can use
multiple tight ends. Seems like the players don't quite live
up to what you want them to be.

Speaker 6 (14:41):
And then it was Schoolmaker was for your to your point, Yeah,
let's take school Maker for example, right, he is the example.
He wasn't he wasn't a start at Michigan. Right, He
didn't have big production numbers at Michigan.

Speaker 5 (14:54):
Right. But my question to that is when you figure
that out regards or less of what reason it is,
misidentified talent, whatever it is, It's almost like we give
up on that position and go, we got the guy,
We're gonna ride it out for three years anyway, and
then we're gonna go concentrate somewhere else instead of going,
we got Masie in here, and we knew, we knew

(15:16):
before the season started we may be in trouble.

Speaker 3 (15:18):
Let's go get another guy.

Speaker 5 (15:20):
It's like it's like we almost ride these players out
and until.

Speaker 3 (15:24):
Well, we're paying and we might as well just leave
and go to another position.

Speaker 2 (15:26):
That is part of it.

Speaker 6 (15:27):
But then the other part of it is is that
you have you you begin to have such great needs
because you go, well, we need a defensive tackle. But
have you seen your left tackle lately? Right then now
you go, oh my god, we got to get a
left tackle. And so you say, well, we can't pour
quite that been resources to this position, but you kind.

Speaker 5 (15:46):
Of spread mediocrity everywhere instead of writing a bit right.

Speaker 6 (15:50):
So now you're you're, you're, you're, you're trying to address
these needs by over I said this last week, over correcting,
and then what ends up happening is.

Speaker 2 (15:59):
You you swung, and you swung and you swung.

Speaker 6 (16:01):
And now you have mediocre spread across elite positions that
you need. You see what I'm saying. Like, So now
it's like, well, what do we do now? And now
you sit back and we're in this situation in twenty
twenty six. Guess what we're going to be at twenty
twenty six and a major deficit for a major need
in a lot of places. You have a major need

(16:22):
at linebacker, you have a major need at defensive end,
you have a major need at safety, you have a
major need at cornerback. And maybe you now I wouldn't
say a major, but you got a problem at left tackle.

Speaker 2 (16:39):
You can say whatever you want.

Speaker 1 (16:40):
You have a.

Speaker 2 (16:41):
Problem at left tackle. That's a problem.

Speaker 6 (16:44):
So now that's five positions for what you have a
major need from the only two spots right now that
you probably don't have a major need at quarterback, receiver, dtackle,
because it all depends on what Javonte decides to do
in the offseason. If he decided to go and let
and run that number up and feel like he gets

(17:04):
more money. If someone else says, you know what we value,
we're gonna pay you more money.

Speaker 2 (17:07):
Guess what. You gotta run it back?

Speaker 6 (17:09):
Problem now, because what you're gonna bring back Malik Davis. Cool,
that's a nice little addition, Milik Davis. Believe Davis not
a starter. You make believe Davis a starter, you'll be
now back to looking around for something to replace that.
He's not a starter. We don't know what Phil Maffa is.
And clearly Jaydon bluek get on the field, so you
might be stuck. See but yeah, so now how do

(17:31):
you address all of that?

Speaker 1 (17:33):
Mm hm, you address it with time.

Speaker 2 (17:38):
You address it with not much up.

Speaker 1 (17:40):
Yeah, you do here, you do, Dak May. Yeah, that
it may not fulfills that purpose. I understand you're looking
at your quarterback, but we can overcorrect. You talked about it.
We can start trying to overcorrect or when we're doing
when we're going in this draft, it's too things. You

(18:01):
cannot draft. You cannot draft an injured player. And don't
reach down into the second half of the of the
second round when it's a player may be sitting right there, Yes,
he may be.

Speaker 2 (18:14):
Probably we do have to worry about that.

Speaker 1 (18:15):
Okay, we don't have a second round pick, but I'm
just saying we don't have us We are known to
go pick a guy that's way down in the second round,
that's got a second round grade, and put him up
to a first No, if a guy is there, if
he a safety, if he a corner, if he's alignment
either side, get that guy. Get Fellas I've been saying

(18:41):
for the last year and a half, it ain't it
ain't no quick fix here. You can listen to it.
It ain't no quick fix. But it's no quick you
put off. You said resources. Anybody that's close, you better
jump the fence and put it all in if you're close,

(19:03):
because next year ain't promised, correct, but you got at
least have something that's promising. What's promising? Tell me what's promising?
We got too great where our receivers, We got a
way better average quarterback than most people in this league.
Where where do we dominate at? Where do we dumb

(19:24):
each team? For you fans, that hate other teams. That's winning.
Go find out they have dominating factors. They have dominating
Where do we dominate? Tell me and then we can
Then if we dominate somewhere, then we can go help
another position. Where do we dominate?

Speaker 5 (19:44):
Think about that. We'll take a break. See if you
guys have an answer. We come back the second segment,

Back to Hang in with the bull Welcome back to
the second segment, I Hang with the Boys brought to
each and every show by blockchain dot Com. True, Thank
you blockchain dot Com. I'd like to pat myself on
the back.

Speaker 2 (22:12):
Okay, I'll hurt your shoulder.

Speaker 5 (22:14):
I had the Cowboys thirty one Washington twenty one, just
about three points, and would also like to give credit
where credit is due. Jesse stat of the week came
true again. Johnson did not have over two hundred and
twenty five yards passing. He had one hundred and ninety eight.
And Nate, for the first time ever, gave us a
stat of the week and it came true. If we

(22:37):
have over one hundred and fifty yards rushing, they win,
you said, and five yards of carry they close enough
for will round up and eleven total.

Speaker 1 (22:46):
But now a quick caveat to that is everybody, including
dan Quinn itself say, if you rush one hundred and
fifty yards, you got he just get that up. If
you get, you get out of fit. I mean he
was here unfifted. He lost, he lost. That's that's easy now.

Speaker 5 (23:07):
So not quite the day you would like to have
for your what is he forty?

Speaker 3 (23:12):
What million dollars a year? Quarterback?

Speaker 2 (23:14):
Sixty sixty?

Speaker 1 (23:16):
Was that?

Speaker 3 (23:16):
Where did I get forty from?

Speaker 2 (23:17):
I don't know where you got forty?

Speaker 6 (23:18):
Is that what I'm thinking that George Pickens is gonna
they would have loved They missed that window to have
him at for Maybe that's what I was thinking, missed
that one should have.

Speaker 3 (23:26):
Had him at forty, got him at sixty?

Speaker 2 (23:28):
Uh what did he have?

Speaker 3 (23:29):
Sacks?

Speaker 2 (23:30):
What?

Speaker 3 (23:30):
Six times?

Speaker 2 (23:31):
Six times?

Speaker 1 (23:32):
He got and got hit eleven twelve?

Speaker 3 (23:35):
Really, so the question is should he have even been playing?

Speaker 5 (23:40):
Or was this one of those games where it's like,
hey man, it's Christmas. He's missing his kids first first Christmas.
He's like, try to take me off the field. Who's
gonna take my helmet? Like?

Speaker 3 (23:51):
You know, is this maybe second?

Speaker 2 (23:54):
Second?

Speaker 3 (23:55):
Guessing that the day after the game, little probably a
little sore, but.

Speaker 11 (23:59):
I think at half time I piled was like bro
hey whatever you Yeah, I guess it look like because
some of them side you saw it.

Speaker 2 (24:09):
It hurt some of them side. There was some big
dudes that was that.

Speaker 1 (24:13):
Was this was the middle, the middle of our offense
giving it up.

Speaker 3 (24:19):
What happened that?

Speaker 6 (24:19):
Because oh well, you said the guy that you took,
the guy that was in the middle of your defense offense,
and you moved him outside. He gave up one outside too.
But you know, all of a sudden, now your in
tiar comes a.

Speaker 2 (24:28):
Little bit weaker.

Speaker 1 (24:29):
Yeah, brother, I'm gonna take you.

Speaker 2 (24:30):
Funny how that happens.

Speaker 6 (24:31):
Take the all you take the all pro that from
your interior, move him outside, and all of a sudden
your interior now becomes weaker.

Speaker 2 (24:37):
That math, It's simple.

Speaker 1 (24:40):
You cannot you cannot do that. I'm with I was
with shout out, I roll with you, I roll with
you for two weeks. Take that man, put him back
in the left guard. I'm serious. Experiment center a center. Okay,
he's average, he's average to good. He's got a little

(25:04):
more learning to do. I think we know who he is.
Don't play no games. You can't be weak everywhere. You
cannot be weak everywhere. Bro, And I pose this question.
I can't through this.

Speaker 2 (25:18):
Whole draft process.

Speaker 1 (25:21):
Tell me that the best player available is not the
way to go for the Dallas Cowboys. Because when you
can tell me where we're dominated at, then I'll started
believe in you. You gotta tell me where we dominate at, Chris,
tell me where we dominate at. I just want to
know so I can go to harping that we don't
need this or we don't need this. Just tell me

(25:44):
where we're dominated at, Jesse, Please.

Speaker 6 (25:47):
I mean dominant. I don't think there's anywhere that we're dominant.
Like I said before, I think I think quarterback, we're fine, yes, right,
Like we have a top ten quarterback, we're good.

Speaker 2 (25:58):
Receiver.

Speaker 6 (25:59):
You have the top duo, if not the top, then
the second best duo.

Speaker 2 (26:03):
In the league.

Speaker 1 (26:04):
That's right.

Speaker 7 (26:04):
If one.

Speaker 2 (26:06):
If one stays all right, you're good.

Speaker 6 (26:10):
And I think you have a you have a You
have a much better interior defensive line than you had
in a long time. Yes, you do with Quinn and Kenny.
But you're not dominant there, right, because teams still kind
of run the ball at you. They still kind of
you know, you don't create that much.

Speaker 1 (26:32):
The thing is with defenses I think we're looking for here,
Jesse is can can you give us a stop? And
that's one thing they did as the season when we
got Quinny, they gave us a few stops at first
it was right right. So now we get another defensive lineman. Okay,
maybe we can get two or three extra stops. Maybe
you can go from twenty eight because you went from

(26:52):
thirty two to twenty eight. Maybe you can jump to
fourteen or fifteen if you get it. And I know
that's a big jump, but the bottom line.

Speaker 2 (27:00):
Is you probably need like a really good pass rusher
to Yeah.

Speaker 1 (27:03):
The bottom line is this fellas we we we we
owe it to our fans to be what we have
already named Jesse with his several names that they have
the voice of reason. We got to stay this show,
the voice of reason. You know, we we can't get
out there and go to hollering five weeks into this process.

Speaker 3 (27:25):
Well we need this.

Speaker 1 (27:27):
Come on, bro, we already decided we need everything except
the quarterback. And if he stayed the wide receivers, so
you think if he stayed at the brother with from
a name to if he.

Speaker 7 (27:40):
Stay defensive tackle, defensive tackles.

Speaker 1 (27:44):
Or they we got two of them. I don't know
if we're gonna we got two of we got.

Speaker 2 (27:49):
Three of them. Yeah, we're good. We're good at tackle.

Speaker 7 (27:52):
You can't spend more there.

Speaker 6 (27:53):
You can't got nothing, but you got to get something
outside like and and and as as as formidable and
productive as your Davion Clowney has been, that's another indictment.
That's another indictment. I'm talking about roster building. So Davian

(28:15):
County thirty three years old Mercenary didn't do anything all
off season. No ota, no mini camp, no nothing, no
training camp. He was signed week two, week two.

Speaker 2 (28:27):
What did they sign him week three?

Speaker 7 (28:28):
I don't think he played the fourth.

Speaker 6 (28:30):
They signed him week two, Chris, and then he didn't
play to week four, and then by week six he
was telling Shoddy, hey.

Speaker 2 (28:38):
Dog, I need to be starting.

Speaker 6 (28:44):
He ain't dog, Hey hey, they ain't better than me.

Speaker 1 (28:51):
I listened to Nate when he called in doing training camp,
saying y'all better be camp.

Speaker 2 (28:55):
Thirty three years old.

Speaker 6 (28:58):
Came to y'all and after being here for a week
and a half, two weeks assess the room, watch some film,
saw Matt practice and had to go tell Shoty, hey dog,
y'all know you splitting this time with me here. I
know you kind of want me to you know, Hey, dog,
I'm better than them. I got to get more playing

(29:20):
time now. When he got it, he showed, he showed
that he had the ability to do certain things right.
Still stop the run, still at least get pressure. I
mean him and James Houston finished the year. I think
they both had five and a half sacks, so right
now they're tied at sacks. So, but the thirty three
year old who did nothing in the offseason was your

(29:44):
best player. Think about it, outside of Quinn Williams on
the edge on your defense, Yeah, yeah, who was better
quinnin one maybe you could say Kenny maybe, But the
two oldest dudes Kenny and and and and and Jadeveon

(30:05):
on your entire defense. I don't think Overshown didn't get
enough snaps in to kind of qualify himself.

Speaker 2 (30:11):
But you know, not Fouler, not william.

Speaker 6 (30:16):
Not as a Roku, not not Kenneth from Oklahoma, not
Leah not Leah, foul not not not, none of the
DB's talk about Again, Jadeveon Clowney can't be your best player.
Jadavion Clowney can't be your best as Russia can't.

Speaker 3 (30:37):
He can.

Speaker 2 (30:38):
He shouldn't be. He shouldn't be.

Speaker 6 (30:42):
This is this is a guy Jadeveon at this point
in time in Jadeveon Clowney's career, this is a guy
who would be an absolute perfect rotational piece, almost a
specialist in the sense, you know what I'm saying, how
they do von Miller And you know, hey, you third
downs brother, You know, maybe you get you in us
some second downs, but you for him to for him,

(31:03):
for you to have a chance at creating any type
of pass rush and tackles for losses from the outside,
you have to rely on a thirty three year old dude.
And now if you resigned him to come back next year,
which I don't know, if he wants, like you know,
he says the right things. I want to come back here,
you know, YadA YadA ya. But he he gonna do

(31:24):
what he did. He gonna j Damon climb, is you
gonna do what he's always done. He's gonna get to
the off season, he gonna sit back and go eenie
meanie miney, And I'm gonna go pick a contender because
he understands that I don't got a couple more years left,
I'm gonna I'm gonna find a contender or whoever gives
me the most cash. This year was the least amount

(31:45):
of money that he got in his career in one year.

Speaker 1 (31:51):
The bottom line is this. Just just think of the
comment that he made. He said, this is this is
the best place to be. This is the dream land.
He came in and started training and tell you how
he was treated. He's like, man, I can put another
three years here, but the people that's here don't even

(32:13):
realize how good they got it, how great it can be.
And especially if you ball out.

Speaker 2 (32:21):
Just think about that.

Speaker 1 (32:22):
You you got one of the top three places that
treat you the greatest. And you come here and you
lay down in the day, y'all like, and they put
nobody in front of me.

Speaker 7 (32:32):
They already got it. You know they're here, They already
got the.

Speaker 3 (32:37):
Already been annoying.

Speaker 5 (32:39):
All right, let's take our last break when we come back,

Speaker 5 (34:52):
Final segment always brought to you by seven eleven Open
twenty four seven? Who had the best game offensively for
the Cowboys? Speaking of Open twenty four to seven, Malik Davis.

Speaker 3 (35:06):
First one hundred yard game right rushing? Does that give him?
Does that give let me?

Speaker 2 (35:11):
Let me not him?

Speaker 3 (35:13):
Does that give the team pause to go? Huh?

Speaker 5 (35:21):
We don't necessarily have to sign Williams I think we
got the guy here, we just haven't given him a chance.

Speaker 2 (35:27):
Is that something you're worried about?

Speaker 3 (35:29):
That's but that's that's the way around here, right.

Speaker 1 (35:31):
No, no, no, no, you proposed a question, you answer it
because that's what we've been talking about for the last
thirty five minutes. So you know the question.

Speaker 5 (35:41):
If it's me, I'm resigning, I'm resigning pickings, I'm resigning Williams.

Speaker 3 (35:46):
I'm finding the money.

Speaker 5 (35:48):
I'm going and drafting all defense in the draft, and
I'm going to spend money.

Speaker 1 (35:52):
And I'm going if draft the defense, if is the best.

Speaker 5 (35:57):
Play, yeah, because I'm fine with the offensive lineman if
it's the best player.

Speaker 1 (36:00):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (36:01):
But I'm going all in, Like you got, you have
the pieces in place on offense, offensive line.

Speaker 2 (36:08):
You need a little bit of help.

Speaker 3 (36:09):
Okay, let's go get somebody in free agency.

Speaker 5 (36:12):
I have two Jesse said it the best wide receiver
duo in the league.

Speaker 3 (36:16):
I have a.

Speaker 5 (36:19):
Top five quarterback now in dak I have a top
ten running back in the backfield with a good supporting
piece behind. I'm good on offense. Let me just I'm
going all in on defense. I'm going to fill the gaps,
which there. I don't know that's that would be the
only thing is like, do I have enough money and enough.

Speaker 3 (36:37):
Collateral to fill all the gaps this year? I'll try.

Speaker 7 (36:41):
They can always play with the cap obviously, right now
they're minus thirty five million in cap space. For next year,
they'll redo DAK, they'll reduce cd SPA digs, but steal
you know, it's sorry, can they.

Speaker 5 (36:57):
You can always Jesse talks about all the time you
can that you can find the money. Now you may
You're gonna have to cash the check. Eventually, you can
write the check.

Speaker 7 (37:05):
Next you invest ten twelve million or whatever it is
on Williams or will you invest that on a defensive help?

Speaker 6 (37:13):
See here's here's the thing about like Javonte and we
all know Samante was't a tar Hill. You know I'm
biased and I love them. There's nothing special about Javonte,
not a special pack. You can find another Javante in
free agency. Hope that they stay healthy.

Speaker 2 (37:29):
And you know, honestly, like look around the league.

Speaker 6 (37:33):
Yeah it's it's you love to have a Derrick Henry,
but I mean in the right system. The Bears running
back who funk us put just fine? Seventh round pick
I mean, there are a countless number of guys who
were R. J. Harvey and and uh In in Denver
late round pick again the the You don't have to

(37:57):
go and get the what's the in Uhriguez kid. I
there's a bunch of different guys around in this league
who you weren't high draft picks or are doing just
fine in the right system. Now, it would be great
to have a Christian McCaffrey, sure, a boy naming Buffalo Cook, sure,
Derrek Henry. Sure, but you don't have to invest that

(38:20):
amount of money to go and get a guy that's
productive if you have the right system for him.

Speaker 5 (38:24):
I'm good with bringing another Javonte in doesn't have to
be Johonte if he wants too much money, But give
me a guy. I don't want to go into the
season with just Maliite Davis and who knows what behind
it like. Give me give me a good solid running
back like Javonte. If he wants too much money, I'm
good with go get somebody else, but give me another one.

Speaker 2 (38:42):
Right, I'm with you. I'm with you.

Speaker 6 (38:45):
But when you start trying to like the old saying
is you get what you pay for. So when you
try to go out and to get these players for
a set price, right, Kenneth from Oklahoma seven million dollars?

(39:06):
Right now, that's it. There's no pushing it down the line.
There's no anything coming on the back end. One year,
seven million dollars. We can account for that right now.
That goes into the cap. That number is there. I
can now, okay, how much I'm willing to spend. I'm
willing to spend twenty million dollars. Cool, seven right there

(39:27):
goes to him. Let's go and get another guy. Oh,
four million dollars. Four million dollars goes to him. Six
million dollars goes to him. All right, we're at seven million,
seventeen million dollars and I get one. So so that
is like, those numbers are hard, hard numbers. Those aren't
numbers that go down the line. Now those players, what

(39:48):
you what you're paying for, is what you're going to get.
You're paying for a Kenneth Murray one year, seven million
dollars is exactly what you're going to get the play
that you get right now, or you could do like
the other good teams are doing, and you go get
a plus player or a a a really really good player,

(40:10):
and you can go player, are gonna cost me twenty
one million dollars? Now year one might before year two,
right before again, year three, there'll be thirteen million.

Speaker 2 (40:29):
You know what I'm saying.

Speaker 6 (40:30):
And but if you're one and two, we get to
the NFC Championship game, we pay at thirteen later, we
pay at thirteen later. If that means that it got
us to put a specific place. And so that's how
you can go and do. What we see teams like
the Rams and Philadelphia do is that you can go

(40:51):
get a bunch of those plus players and go, hey,
our window is three years, check for three years.

Speaker 5 (41:01):
Right.

Speaker 6 (41:01):
No, Look, now when we get to that third year,
we better have a plan, right.

Speaker 1 (41:06):
Like MS but it just so their whole team.

Speaker 6 (41:09):
But but but then, but how you but how you
how you supplement that is in the process of this all.
Now I can slow play my younger guys into position,
so that now when I.

Speaker 2 (41:23):
Have to tell those other guys and year three, you
gotta go. I now move those guys in there.

Speaker 6 (41:32):
If I have to do a reboot or reset, I
reset with those guys, shot the process all over again,
and now I go and go get those other guys
for another three more years, and now I bump them
into play next year, and now you're one there, four
year two, there, four year three, they're thirteen. All the while,
I'm now, as I'm getting these younger players developed and going,

(41:55):
one of the two of them gonna hit. So guess
what I got Now, I don't have to go and
spend that money anymore because.

Speaker 2 (42:00):
That got hit.

Speaker 6 (42:02):
Now he's my starter who's still on a rookie deal
for at least two more years.

Speaker 2 (42:09):
You see what I'm saying. That's how they get it now.

Speaker 6 (42:11):
Of course, yes, you're eventually gonna have to come pay
the piper. But if paying the piper means we get
to a place that we haven't gotten to him thirty years.

Speaker 7 (42:21):
Yeah, it's worth it.

Speaker 2 (42:22):
It's worth it.

Speaker 6 (42:24):
And then we figure it out when we get there,
because even that thirteen can be dressed up and moved
around again if we need it to. You know what
I'm saying, Add long on it, add long on it,
sign a bonus, add a couple more years onto it.
We got off three more year one because we give

(42:46):
him a signing bonus. Now year one three million dollars,
Year two five million, dollars year three seventeen.

Speaker 2 (42:56):
You know what I'm saying.

Speaker 6 (42:57):
But that's how you can play around with the numbers
and and and and manipulate this thing to get teams
that are way more of a threat in the long
game than what we've had here.

Speaker 2 (43:10):
And and like you.

Speaker 1 (43:13):
Know, but first, yes, I love I love it, man,
and you give hope. But at first you got to
get the players. You have to get the players. And
more to your point is when when when when free
agencies start? Now, I'm gonna remind y'all if we're not

(43:34):
in the first three weeks of heavy free agency and
we go into this fourth week, and y'all hear these
people say, we got a bargain. Remember when we played
Philadelphia and when we play Seattle, if we played in
the Rams, he's a bargain. That's why he's getting ran over.

Speaker 2 (43:55):
We got the Rams next year.

Speaker 3 (43:56):
He's a bargain.

Speaker 2 (43:57):
We got the Rams next year.

Speaker 1 (43:58):
When you pay for bargain, you get bargain, okay, And
then you get a team full of guys where we're saying, man,
we missed the playoffs. Man, let's get excited about the
draft again. You can't you can't keep going down the
bargain road. I'll promise you the bargain road gonna get
you the middle of the road. And that's just the

(44:21):
bottom line you go by. You know something, I don't
want to I don't know who I sponsored this. I
was gonna use a chip just tall this ship.

Speaker 2 (44:30):
Just for just for just for reference.

Speaker 6 (44:32):
You're talking about, you know you kind of better have
you better have you better have at least at all
a good offensive line because the team that you're gonna
play on the road next year, you're going to Seattle,
You're going to l A, the Rams. You've got to see.
You got to go down to Houston with that defense. Uh,

(44:56):
you you get saying Frank at home, Fred Warner will
be healthy by then. And then you also have I
don't know what the coach is in, but then you
have Green Bay as well, so you'll have to face
Green Bay again. Hm, depending on we gotta go to
limbo a road games except San Fran h Seattle, you

(45:16):
got Philly, New York, Washington of course, Seattle, l A, Houston, Indianapolis,
green Bay are all on the road. At home, you
got uh, you got your three and then you got
San fran Arizona can't count them as a loss anymore.

Speaker 2 (45:33):
It hasn't win anymore.

Speaker 6 (45:35):
Uh, you got the Titans, you got Jacksonville, and then
you have those I guess what was the second place
of the NFC South.

Speaker 2 (45:42):
So whoever the NFC two NFC South teams.

Speaker 13 (45:45):
They're they're playing in to see who went wins that division.

Speaker 2 (45:48):
So it's Carolina against Tampa Tampa Tampa. Okay, yeah, so
you got those two. Whoever loses that gam you get.

Speaker 5 (45:55):
Yeah, which you know, used to think Carolina was a
winn till we came to town to turn their season
around for them.

Speaker 6 (46:02):
We got to get to that because we got and
we only played one of them. That's only sixteen games.
So what we have to play two NFC toal teams.

Speaker 13 (46:12):
Right, No, NFC North is one in the a f
C North, which would be the loser of Baltimore Baltimore
and uh, who's Baltimore Pittsburgh.

Speaker 2 (46:23):
Yeah, okay, you get the loser of that.

Speaker 6 (46:25):
Okay, so we get one of those coming home. So
we'll have one of those two and the one of
the other ones a loser lose. Excuse me, good stuff?

Speaker 3 (46:33):
Where is it? Tomorrow is Tuesday? Cowboys Offense. We're off
Thursday and Friday and Friday.

Speaker 7 (46:44):
Yeah, we'll just do.

Speaker 1 (46:46):
Whatever y'all want to do.

Speaker 3 (46:47):
Man Cowboys offense.

Speaker 2 (46:48):
Un let's you tell your Nate right now. I got
your date. Don't worry about it.

Speaker 1 (46:53):
You didn't even talk last week.

Speaker 2 (46:55):
I had get to it. I was ready. I was ready.

Speaker 3 (46:59):
Maybe we won't talk. Bo Tom tuned in to find out.

Speaker 5 (47:01):

Speaker 2 (47:26):
And who's playing for them?

Speaker 1 (47:28):
Dark is dark back?

Speaker 2 (47:30):
It's about it?

Speaker 7 (47:31):
Give us Jamis defense.

Speaker 1 (47:33):
This guy Jamis would be fun.

Speaker 2 (47:35):
Jamis will be real fun.

Speaker 3 (47:36):
Would be fun.

Speaker 1 (47:37):
That's just pretty deep. That's pretty has already got you
know how to say, I get extra sack. That's pretty
already got.

Speaker 5 (47:46):
Chris, that's a favor if for well, we can't talk
about that. If he ever wound up on this team,
would you do me a favor and make sure he's
miked up every single.

Speaker 3 (47:57):
Game, But you're gonna say, get him on the show,
that too would be amazing. All right, we'll see y'all tomorrow.
