It’s looking like star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb could return on Sunday against Washington, but what’s that mean for George Pickens? He’s been a beast in his own right in Lamb’s absence. What changes? The Cowboys also need to try to establish the ground game. Can they do so against one of the best run defenses in the league? Better rush to the edge, my friend.

You come from the land of I cook my ribs
in the crockpots.

Speaker 6 (01:55):
Whatever if you ever had some good crock pot like
they starting the crock pot falling off the anyway, when
I come from the land of I don't want Crispy,
I just pancakes. I want light and fluffy. What actual butter?

Speaker 3 (02:06):
Okay? You know what I mean hot and I got
them that way this morning.

Speaker 7 (02:11):
You know.

Speaker 2 (02:11):
And I'm so with you on that, and it bothers me.
I mean, I'm not ordering this.

Speaker 7 (02:18):
You can come.

Speaker 2 (02:19):
If you come out with me in order a waffle,
a pancake or anything. I'm gonna look at you once
you make the order, and I'm gonna look at the
waiter a waitress and say bring it when it.

Speaker 7 (02:31):
Is hot, yes, yeah, I want it with my meal.

Speaker 2 (02:35):
No, yes, bring it when it's because when this meal
get here twenty minutes from now, and them pancakes and
cold and that butter just sitting there.

Speaker 6 (02:44):
Come on, my man, that's that thing while it's hot,
that's coming from an eater either right now, experience. I'm
gonna ask you to break. I'm gonna ask you in
the break where you where you got them from. Because
I've eaten at this place once and it was the
most luffy pancakes I have every eating.

Speaker 5 (03:02):
I want to see if it's where you at.

Speaker 3 (03:04):
I said it was so good, it was. It was good.

Speaker 5 (03:06):
I want to get by any free pub, and you
know that's.

Speaker 3 (03:08):
All I wanted. I didn't want I didn't want no side.
I didn't want to any weirdess.

Speaker 4 (03:12):
Sometimes you just crave something, just just and I hate
get it out of your mind.

Speaker 6 (03:15):
I was very specific with the waitress and I said,
I just want this hot.

Speaker 3 (03:19):
And to your point, I said, just bring it hot. Yes,
she said hot. I said, when they I said, you
look to the side like this, if the smoke ain't
coming up off of it, send it back and put
it back, put it in you.

Speaker 5 (03:30):
You got no side, just a pancakes.

Speaker 6 (03:32):
I just wanted three hot, fluffy, light and fluffy pancakes.

Speaker 7 (03:38):
But that's all I want.

Speaker 3 (03:40):
I wanted, I didn't want anything.

Speaker 2 (03:41):
I got a special place I go in and I'm
gonna start being that's what I'm gonna just be more specific.

Speaker 7 (03:48):
I just was like telling you man.

Speaker 6 (03:49):
And I told her, if you can do this for me, yes,
I said, I'm gonna tip you good.

Speaker 3 (03:53):
That's right, that's right because I'm not asking for it.
It's not complicated.

Speaker 6 (03:56):
Just if you give me this, I am going to
be so happy that your tip will your tip will reflect.

Speaker 3 (04:03):
By joy and uh, that's it.

Speaker 5 (04:06):
Did you get it?

Speaker 3 (04:06):
Smoke it?

Speaker 7 (04:07):
Did it reflect? It did?

Speaker 2 (04:09):
And I and I told the person to say, you know,
not about the the tip. I said, your tip is
going to be sweet. And so when they when I
finished and everything I was great. They say, I said, you're.

Speaker 7 (04:20):
Ready for that tip? They said, yeah, coin in the spring. No,
I gave a good tip.

Speaker 5 (04:31):
Get We got to give Nate a special shout out.

Speaker 4 (04:33):
He was on our flagship station this morning for what
three segments?

Speaker 7 (04:36):
Yeah, yeah, I just want a little bit crushed.

Speaker 4 (04:39):
If you don't, if you don't normally listen to them,
go find that segment on their uh, eight twenty, I
just stumbled across the by accident.

Speaker 5 (04:47):
I was going to pick my kid up this morning.
Was like, what isn't they doing?

Speaker 4 (04:50):
And I was like, you, I enjoyed it so much
like I turned the car off and just sat in
the car and listened to it until it was over with.

Speaker 3 (04:57):
Yeah it was good man. No, you crushed it, bro,
you did.

Speaker 7 (05:00):
I just had fun man, Bobby, because I like Bobby Man.
I like Bobby.

Speaker 3 (05:03):
You like everybody. You get along, You get along man.

Speaker 2 (05:08):
But you know what, I did not want to put
your name in that even they say who did?

Speaker 7 (05:13):
Why did they call you? Get along? Mate? That said
where it's four.

Speaker 2 (05:15):
People to work at They kind of like, I know Esse, Yeah, no, no, no,
I rob folks the wrong way.

Speaker 3 (05:26):
Yeah, you know what, people the wrong way?

Speaker 7 (05:31):
You know?

Speaker 2 (05:32):
And one thing all all four of these people have
in common, and whether you.

Speaker 7 (05:38):
Like them or not, they do their homework. You do
your homework, Nick do his.

Speaker 3 (05:44):
You could talk to Mickey.

Speaker 7 (05:45):
They all do their homework.

Speaker 2 (05:47):
That's what empowers them to say, like you were very
just coming. I ain't never gonna dout my eyes again.
And I know what I'm you know, and and brought
us to be like, well, when I looked at.

Speaker 7 (05:57):
The film, and you know, Mickey, I know.

Speaker 2 (06:02):
You know, and heck people don't know Hecker, but Hecklan
the same way they y'all do your work.

Speaker 7 (06:07):
Bro, I wish I was.

Speaker 3 (06:08):
I spent a lot of time I do.

Speaker 6 (06:10):
I spent a lot of time in the in the
in the studying part of it. That's why I'm like,
I ain't gonna spend all this time for you to
tell me I spent too much time.

Speaker 3 (06:18):
Doing it, Like, oh no, I just no, brother, You're
not gonna do that.

Speaker 5 (06:23):
People like me and Kurt, we're just happy to be here.
We just get along with that, like hey, doing the debate. No,
you know, I can come back off that point for
hold on, PFL.

Speaker 7 (06:35):
You don't put that on this computer?

Speaker 2 (06:37):
Yeall?

Speaker 5 (06:40):
No, that was good stuff, man, you crushed. That was
that was good.

Speaker 2 (06:43):
I just had fun because I like, I like the
people I was around. I hadn't met the one guy.
I knew Choppy and I knew Bobby, but I didn't
know the young man.

Speaker 7 (06:52):
So you know, and they all like Jess. I thought
everybody like Jes all like es. I could have found,
but one person, this one what that's what makes me
laugh like them.

Speaker 5 (07:16):
Well, let's move on before we get in trouble.

Speaker 3 (07:18):
That's what that's what we do, I know.

Speaker 4 (07:20):
Anyway, Let's get in trouble about something about our show,
not something in the past.

Speaker 5 (07:23):
Okay, all right, cowboys offense? Who Kurt?

Speaker 4 (07:27):
Who is coming back this week? Or do we have
any any words for sure on him?

Speaker 8 (07:31):
Definitive Lamb is supposed to start pcticing today. He's looking
like a return. Jerry had said that Turpin could possibly
be back and Booker could possibly.

Speaker 4 (07:41):
Jesse, what does your intuition tell you about those three guys?

Speaker 6 (07:46):
My first intuition in City Lands, I'm gonna say I'm
gonna go out a limited this Wednesday and say City
Lands playing Sunday.

Speaker 3 (07:52):
Okay, I really truly believe that. And you know, people
don't sometime good.

Speaker 7 (07:58):
He is good.

Speaker 3 (07:59):
He's going to play this weekend.

Speaker 6 (08:02):
People don't realize the importance of a good returner. And
I'm speaking about this for Cavante Turpin because I think
he's gonna play it as well this week. And I
hope that Booker gets back in there. This is a
young guy who doesn't get the reps. Man, It's just
young football players at any position. When you're when you're

(08:23):
when you're positioned to help this fort any football team,
I don't care what team in is this team, any team,
and you can't get on the field for certain reasons,
it just it stalls your growth. Now for this particular reason,
it's injury. And and no fault to his own.

Speaker 3 (08:40):
He got hurt.

Speaker 9 (08:41):
Uh.

Speaker 6 (08:43):
But a guy who's come in and even when he
was in there earlier in the year, wasn't at his
wasn't the best right.

Speaker 10 (08:52):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (08:52):
And then when you talk about because this train.

Speaker 6 (08:55):
Is like when the season comes, this train moves so fast, bro. Like,
it moves so fast, and every week it's a new
it's a new game plan, it's a new opponent, it's
a new this, it's a new that, and coaches and
teams and in the league, it'll pass you by. So
you if you're not a guy who has a ton
of experience banked up right like Ceedee Lamb has five

(09:18):
years of experience banked up in the vault with this quarterback,
with the league, with reps, with seeing defense already banked
for God like Tyler Booker, who doesn't. And this thing
is moving so fast and every week, it's a new
opponent that you've never seen before, because what you see

(09:40):
in Chicago is not what you're gonna see in Washington.
What you see in Washington is not what you're gonna
see in Minnesota. And so you you don't get a
chance to stack those things together, and all you're doing
is sitting back watching with no prior experience to go
off of. In this league, when you get back in,
you're trying, you're doing so much catch up it even

(10:03):
it can even sometimes hurt you because you're trying to
catch up so fast to what everybody else is doing, and.

Speaker 3 (10:09):
The coaches are still moving. That's because you're not in there.

Speaker 6 (10:13):
Clayton Adams are not saying well, because Tyler Book is
not in here, We're not gonna do this.

Speaker 3 (10:17):
We're not gonna no TJ. Hey, we're going now.

Speaker 6 (10:21):
We've got to a point now where you know they
got things going with Javonte, not last week, but prior
to you and skip we're not waiting on you. So
getting him back in the fold will help his progression.
You just hope that it just he's not so far
behind that.

Speaker 8 (10:38):
He's starting over here.

Speaker 6 (10:39):
Yeah, you know what I'm saying, It's like starting back
at square one, but back to the Cavante thing, having
him back in the mix with your defense, the Cowboys defense,
with them playing so.

Speaker 3 (10:51):
Bad, and I don't see that.

Speaker 7 (10:55):
I just don't.

Speaker 6 (10:56):
I'm sorry, I just don't see that changing anytime soon.

Speaker 3 (11:01):
Field position.

Speaker 6 (11:03):
Now, I want to give my offense shorter fields, whether
that's in the return game, kickoff return or pump return. Right,
I want my offense to have a shorter distance to
go because there's such an importance and there's such and
onnus on the offense scoring touchdowns as many touchdowns, not

(11:24):
field goals, touchdowns as they possibly can, and if they
have to go sixty yards opposed to.

Speaker 3 (11:31):
Eighty five yards or eighty yards.

Speaker 6 (11:34):
I've helped myself out a ton because when we get
to the end of the game and it's close, you
look back and you go, man, if we didn't have
to go seventy five yards, but we had we went
fifty five yards, maybe there's more plays in there for
us to make. When when there's more the offensive play

(11:54):
caller is willing to be a tad bit more aggressive.
When I know that my field position is at fifty
five yards to go get a touchdown opposed to seventy
five yards. And now I'm spending more time on the
opposing team's side of the field. I'm willing to be
more aggressive. I'm willing to go forward on fourth down.
I'm willing to take more shots. I'm willing to have
my calls be different. So getting to Avante back into

(12:15):
the mix, that helps your offense significantly because he allows
you to have shorter fields to work with and operate with,
which gives you a better opportunity to score points what
you're going to need in every single game going forward
because the remaining schedule. The Cowboys have the toughest remaining

(12:36):
schedule according to who they have to play in their
records in the National Football League, so points will be
at an absolute premium for them because the defense probably
won't be able to stop anybody.

Speaker 4 (12:47):
Let's take a break and then we'll come back a
couple more questions about the offense and then jumping to
Washington's defense when we come back on Hanging with the.

Speaker 5 (15:10):
Welcome back to the second segment.

Speaker 4 (15:12):
Hanging with the Boys brought to each and every show
by Blockchain dot Com. Thank you, change Chain dot Com. Nate,
I'll ask you this first, Kurt, you jump in, Jesse,
you jump in after Ceedee Lamb. Let's say he comes
back this week.

Speaker 5 (15:27):
How does that look? How does your ball distribution.

Speaker 4 (15:31):
Look with Pickings, Kurt had a great static in Lamb's absence.
Pickings had three hundred and fifty nine yards, four touchdowns
and a one fifty four point six rating when targeted.
How do you work those two guys together? Do you
bring CD back slow? Do you just throw them out
there and go? You here we go?

Speaker 7 (15:50):
You hit the ground running.

Speaker 2 (15:52):
That's why I believe And this is for Turping, this
is for Booker, and this is for CD Lamb.

Speaker 7 (15:58):
Make sure you're ready.

Speaker 2 (16:00):
This team cannot win games without thirty to thirty five
forty points.

Speaker 7 (16:06):
Hit the ground running.

Speaker 2 (16:07):
You got to and that. And I'm actually coach Shottenheim.
I know you didn't ask this. Coach Shottenheimer. If you
whoever your guy is up in the press box, he
should be able to look down and say, not a
very good day running. And man, just like this thing up.

(16:28):
You know what for all of us that we don't
want that to throw up more than forty five fifty
dak a't had what he had. This is something unique.
Like this thing up and just throw the ball out
of the backfield and throw it to my five yard
average guy tight end.

Speaker 7 (16:42):
We'll get this thing.

Speaker 4 (16:43):
Oh yeah, this is coming from the guy the last
fifteen years has been saying, run the rock, I pound
the ball.

Speaker 2 (16:50):
When you've had the office lineman to do it, and
you and you've had only one wide receiver a half
a tight end. You had to save yourself because the
defense did have some flair to it. He had a
little flair. Defense has no flare. So if you if
you ain't got no swag, you got.

Speaker 5 (17:08):
So you've always talked about on.

Speaker 2 (17:11):
This show, balance and make it right, play action passed,
you know, just run just enough so the linebackers can
come up and Dak and the rest of them pickings
CD for Flinoy. I'm sorry, Toby, you're gonna drop down Flinoy.
Let him rock, bro.

Speaker 4 (17:30):
But you've always said on here, like you think Dak
is a good quarterback, late action pass quarterback.

Speaker 5 (17:37):
Let me finish, sir. I know you're excited, but let
me finish because I want to hear what you unless.

Speaker 4 (17:44):
He he but he's got to have the tools around
him to be a great quarterback. So you're saying, now
he's got on the offensive side of the balls the
tools that you've been saying, he's needing to take that
next step.

Speaker 7 (17:57):
So and I'm gonna do this right here? Am I right? Kurt?
Do you think that Jesse? Am I right? Correct?

Speaker 2 (18:05):
I said this earlier, And I hate to do this
because you don't want to cross teams. But if that
was sitting where the Philadelphia quarterback is sitting, we'll be
talking about that a different right Because I know that
Jesse didn't even get a dude top billing yesterday for Philadelphia.
We will be giving Dak top billy like we given
Dak top billing with a what two and three whatever

(18:29):
our record is one in eight or whatever, he is
one nine. Yeah, we're giving him top billing. And and
see when CD come back, and Jesse, you can tell
me I'm wrong, But when CD come back, they still
gonna move to safety a little bit more to him.
That's gonna make it even easier for our other guy.

(18:49):
So this thing is finna get nasty, man. But if
CD come back with this limping stuff, man.

Speaker 7 (18:55):
Get on the sideline. We don't need that. Let from NOI.

Speaker 2 (18:59):
And then we have to move you back up, Jaylen
if you want to play.

Speaker 4 (19:02):
You know, Jesse, the mentality of Pickings going into this
if CD comes back is he does he wants CD
to come back, or is he like, you know, that's
contract here, I'm the man. I'm getting, you know, thirteen
targets a game, like what's his mentality because obviously he's
probably better, But then it's tart if CD's there taking

(19:24):
attention off of him, But targets aren't gonna be the same.

Speaker 6 (19:27):
Right on the surface, he'll tell you like, oh yeah,
I want Cedde Lamb to come back. Da da dah, like,
but there's always this This is not me trying to
make anything, you know, messy Jesse type. Yeah, but I'm
not trying to make everything. But he likes getting the targets, like,
don't make no mistakes about it. But he understands, like,

(19:49):
you know, when CD comes back, it's definitely gonna help
him out. But he also understands when CD comes back,
that's DA's favorite. Like I don't like I'm I'm the
middle of three boys, right, My older brother was my
grandmother's favorite. You gotta deal with it. You just got
to deal with it, like that's just what it was.
It wasn't that she didn't love me. She just loved

(20:12):
him a little bit more. And you know what, because
he had a four and a half year head start.

Speaker 3 (20:17):
On me with her. Okay, she raised him from from
from the hospital.

Speaker 5 (20:21):
That's a good analogy. Four and a half year head start.

Speaker 3 (20:24):
And so and that's what that's what they, that's what they.

Speaker 6 (20:26):
That's what he has with Dak right Like, he has
a four and a half year head start with Dak Prescott.

Speaker 3 (20:30):
So when those two come back together, it's.

Speaker 6 (20:32):
Not that it's a knock against George Pickts, is just
this is my baby.

Speaker 3 (20:38):
Yeah, this this this, this, this is my first born. Yeah,
we've we've.

Speaker 6 (20:42):
Built something so strong over the years. He's bailed me out,
I'm bailed. I've bailed him out. He's held it down
while I've been out. I've held it down while he's
been out. We have such a connection through the good,
bad and the ugly, that I'm always gonna be able
to count on him. And guess what, whether George Pickens
is here or not, next year eighty eight, gonna be here.

(21:02):
So it's always gonna be like that. This is my
first love. This, this is my boy. This, this my
boy blue Like nothing against George Pickens, but it's always
gonna be ced first. And then we're not not going
to you, but if there's an opportunity, why I need
to go and make a play.

Speaker 3 (21:22):
I know that you can make a play.

Speaker 6 (21:24):
But I've seen it. We've we've made plays. We've done it.
We've we've been in the trenches. We've been in as
as shot, he would say, been in the foxhole together.
So I'm a little bit more lenient to to take
a shot where I probably shouldn't take a shot to
eighty eight than I am the three. So, but George
Pickens is still like boy, when you were going it

(21:46):
was all about me, you know what I'm saying. When
my brother went to When my brother went to college,
well me and Graham's was like this, Well he Leving

Speaker 3 (22:15):

Speaker 2 (22:16):

thing can be great. You know Jamar Chase is I
got that and T Higgins, t Higgins.

Speaker 5 (22:28):

Speaker 3 (22:29):
T Higgins got his money.

Speaker 7 (22:30):
But you know when they hit the fan, he going,
he going. So it can work, bro, this thing can work.

Speaker 2 (22:37):
Don't worry about the tight end, don't worry about the
second and third receivers. Just every now and then throw
number nine something, keep him, keep him spicy.

Speaker 7 (22:44):
Yeah, Hey, we're gone man.

Speaker 3 (22:46):
Yeah.

Speaker 10 (22:47):
And and.

Speaker 6 (22:49):
The way that George operates, a lot of his stuff
is usually big play stuff. Yes, right, So it's it's
it's the part that keeps him involved because he might
get a thirty forty yard player down the field, play
or touchdown, right like he that's what he wants to
keep going.

Speaker 3 (23:06):
He wants to keep getting them touchdowns, so that part
you keep feeding them.

Speaker 6 (23:09):
He gets eight touchdown, nine touchdown, ten touchdowns.

Speaker 3 (23:12):
He okay, would have a sixty eight yards let's city.

Speaker 4 (23:14):
He works down the field and then just hit me
two big times in the game, and.

Speaker 3 (23:17):
I'm we're good.

Speaker 6 (23:18):
I'll take sixty eight yard sixty eight yards a game
for seventeen games.

Speaker 3 (23:23):
Get you through a thousand yards.

Speaker 5 (23:24):
Get you a nice new contract, get.

Speaker 3 (23:26):
You to a thousand yards. You got twelve thirteen to
fourteen touchdowns.

Speaker 5 (23:29):
See about twenty eight MILLI year, twenty eight to thirty.

Speaker 3 (23:33):
It starts at twenty eight that's what I'm saying.

Speaker 7 (23:35):
That started at twenty eight his per year.

Speaker 3 (23:38):
That's the just lost him.

Speaker 6 (23:40):
Yeah, the franchise is gonna cost you twenty eight four.

Speaker 7 (23:44):
Yeah, we just studio.

Nate tell us, we.

Speaker 4 (26:59):
Hear that that name we've been hearing for about ten years.
Durron payn is he He.

Speaker 2 (27:04):
Still watched two games and he's been okay, he's not
lit it up. I've watched the last two games only,
and I'm at halftime of the Chargers game. But what
I'm trying to tell you the defense, they run a
base four to three, and they will run the four
to three like this. They'll take the two tackles and

(27:25):
they'll just shade them one way or another over the
guards to the inside out, to the outside out, depending
on what they think the strength is. They will have
them defensive ends anywhere from a wide five to a
seven to a nine. They will put These are the
two games that I've saw. And I saw coming off
of the goal line and going onto the goal line

(27:48):
a bar look. It looked like a barrel look. But
they had the center covert covered, the two guards covered,
and they can have a wide nine with these two rushers.
These rushers can be inside linebackers. They could be what's
my what's my guy's name? Uh, it could be Wagner,
it can be Frankie Louvy. Uh, they'll even bring in

(28:08):
the n and the domester. They bring thirty nine up,
Frank Louisville, and they'll bring number thirty nine up and
let him play.

Speaker 7 (28:16):
Uh that uh that will linebacker.

Speaker 2 (28:18):
In a in a in a in a tweener position.
I mean what I'm saying between her is like it's
second and six, uh third and uh third and four
stuff like that. They'll bring him up and uh but
Louvy is always gonna be on the field. Is I'm
pronouncing that right? Loueville is gonna always be on the field.

(28:39):
They'll take Wagner off some time, number fifty four, but
number four is always gonna be on the field.

Speaker 7 (28:45):
You can have a ray of rushers Armstrong. I can't
think of these guys name right.

Speaker 2 (28:53):
Now, but they all of their their first for Devens,
Evans in first for tackles. Y'all gotta look it up.
I ain't looking at all this up, y'all. They gonna play.
They're gonna have a continuous rotation of players. They're gonna
give you that kind of Cadillac look where they're gonna

(29:14):
cover the center, cover the guards, and the guys out
wide are they gonna give you an even look and
the linebackers depend. It just depends, and they just play
that and they looking for you to make a mistake.
You can have big run after big run, but they
looking for you to make that mistake so they can
rush you to have eighteen sacks, two interceptions, and a fumble.

(29:38):
At this point, they seem like they concentrated hard against
the Charges versus run, but.

Speaker 7 (29:45):
They didn't do that against the Bears.

Speaker 2 (29:49):
Swift had one hundred and four yards and then he
had maybe a thirty or forty yard touchdown run past Jesse.

Speaker 7 (29:58):
So it just I don't know.

Speaker 2 (30:00):
What to think of them. I don't because, like I said,
if the film, I've watched Payne who you know who
I love to depth number ninety four. He just hasn't
dominated Javon Kenilock had a nice game against the Chargers,
number ninety nine.

Speaker 7 (30:16):
He had a nice game. So uh and they won.

Speaker 2 (30:19):
They beat them handily, but they lost to the Bears
at the last minute. Yeah, the Bears at the last minute.

Speaker 3 (30:26):
They fumbled.

Speaker 7 (30:27):
They fumbled.

Speaker 2 (30:27):
Man, the quarterback should have just tried to hold on
to the ball. He's fumbling in the ball and rushing
into the running back's hand and he didn't never got
a handle on it. Dude, they would have won that game,
or they could have won that game. I don't like
to say the bright team won. So uh, I don't
know nothing about the coverages, so I'm trying to figure
it out.

Speaker 4 (30:46):
Uh.

Speaker 7 (30:47):
They're solid team. They got like Jesse said, they got
that player where they.

Speaker 2 (30:52):
Got two of them because Darren Armstrong have five point
five sacks and he can rush the passer. Number nine
four can rush the passer. Ken Law can rush the passer.
But if you want to have if you want to
be in this game, you're gonna have to run the ball.
You're gonna have to balance up. You don't want to

(31:13):
turn these guys loose.

Speaker 8 (31:14):
On their third rushing defense or something in the league.
Yeah one of the top ones.

Speaker 4 (31:20):
Yeah yeah, they're in the top third. And what the
ranked tenth defensive lines ranked tenth there uh six and
sacks and tackles for lost seventh in quarterback hits and
blitz per sit.

Speaker 7 (31:33):
They want, we have to run that ball. You gotta have.
You got to because you can't.

Speaker 2 (31:45):
Last week, I promise you their deal was not uh,
and I'm talking about to Carroll. It was not to
rush the passer. Everything they did was you're not running
the ball. They thought, and they believed that if they
stopped one ass spec of our game, and that's running,
we can take our chances.

Speaker 7 (32:03):
With uh Pickens.

Speaker 2 (32:06):
I got it right, right, We're gonna take And they
took their chances with Pickens, and at the end they
won because we could not run it, and they gonna try.

Speaker 7 (32:15):
This team gonna try to do the same thing.

Speaker 8 (32:17):
Can we run it against him?

Speaker 6 (32:18):
Then if I'm if I'm the Cowboys, my runs are
on the edge, my runs are off tackle.

Speaker 3 (32:29):
Oh yes, sir, my runs are off the edges.

Speaker 6 (32:32):
Where I'm not going to kind of want to challenge
this particular front is in the middle. I don't think
we have the horses, especially when you know Booker maybe
just coming back. You still don't have any no bb
and Tyler Smith is still trying to find his legs.
So I'm not going to challenge I don't I per

(32:55):
se wouldn't want to challenge them in that middle with
Doran paying the javan in law, and then the way
that they the way that they do it it is
to keep their linebackers free.

Speaker 3 (33:05):
Frankie Louver and Bobby Wagner.

Speaker 6 (33:07):
Bobby Wagner is still a north and South linebacker, really
good at that coming downhill, really good at that when
you get them having to move east and west.

Speaker 3 (33:20):
Ninety seven years old, he just doesn't.

Speaker 5 (33:22):
Didn't he all when they're talking him coming here a
few years ago?

Speaker 3 (33:25):
Yeah, when Dan Quinn was here.

Speaker 6 (33:26):
Dan winning Quinn wanted to bring him here and he
wanted They said he wanted too much money.

Speaker 5 (33:29):
So and he's still, uh, what does he got sixty something.

Speaker 8 (33:33):
Tackles, second in the in the league?

Speaker 3 (33:36):
Yeah, tax, so he still got some.

Speaker 7 (33:37):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (33:38):
So, but it's coming downhill if and that's how they
want to design this thing up front. They want to
be able to have Frankie Louvou coming downhill?

Speaker 5 (33:46):
Where was he was? He always been in Washington?

Speaker 4 (33:48):
Because I didn't know anything about him until you started
talking about him?

Speaker 5 (33:52):
Was it last year? And now that seems.

Speaker 3 (33:54):
Though he was, uh Carolina?

Speaker 4 (33:58):
Was he Carolina before? I think you so, he was
out of the vision. That's why I didn'tn't really know
anything about him. But yeah, you started talking about him
last year and man, every game I watch him, Man,
it's like.

Speaker 3 (34:07):
He is Carolina, right, he is all over the place.

Speaker 7 (34:10):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (34:11):
No, he plays with his hair on fire.

Speaker 6 (34:13):
I think a lot of times, and this is not
I don't I don't want to put a comparison game,
but play a comparison game a lot of times. Frankie Louvi,
who they want Maris Lee a foul to be And
I'm not saying that he can't beat him, but Frankie
Louvi is a is a.

Speaker 3 (34:29):
He's a good football player. You don't come off the field, man,
No he doesn't.

Speaker 6 (34:32):
But like so I say, if I'm the Cowboys with
this particular defense upfront, I want to get to the edges.
Even the Bears, a lot of their runs that they had,
the big runs came whether the quarterback was doing the
swift was running it, it came off the edges. So
you know, maybe this is where you kind of insert
maybe a couple package runs for Jayden. Blue were being
able to use that speed off the edges. But if

(34:56):
if you think you're gonna be able to challenge this
team in between the tackles, you're gonna find out really
soon that you're just not equipped for that.

Speaker 4 (35:03):
Right now, let's talk about Blue for a second, because
we didn't really talk about him after this game.

Speaker 3 (35:07):
Does he ain't nothing to talk about?

Speaker 5 (35:10):
Are they? How? Because he looks very timid to me,
he looks like he's pausing just enough. He doesn't look fast.

Speaker 3 (35:19):
How he looks like a rookie.

Speaker 6 (35:21):
Yeah, I want to say like that, that's the problem
I was saying that I was talking about, like with Bookers,
when these guys don't get a chance like he missed,
you know, being inactive all those weeks. He's coming into
this game and he's trying to find and I said
this before. All you all we've talked about when it's
comes to.

Speaker 3 (35:37):
Blue is speed, speed, speed, home.

Speaker 6 (35:40):
Run hitter, home run hitter. So even in his mind,
he's like, man, I gotta hit a home run. I
got to hit a home run. And sometimes instead of
you being that's what that's what Javonte is so good,
and it's because of he lacks speed, is that he's
so patient and he allows blocks to be set up.
He allows, you know, because even a running back, a

(36:00):
running back can set up a block on the second
level before he even gets there, just by taking a
step or two one way, and allows my guard now
when he's on that dual block to if I set
it up right and that linebacker stays there, my guard
can break off that. And then now I go and
that when that linebacker comes, he ran right into that
guard and I'm right off his butt.

Speaker 3 (36:19):
Right.

Speaker 6 (36:20):
So like those are little the little nuances that come
along with learning the game. This is not it's not college.
You're just not gonna out athlete everybody on.

Speaker 3 (36:27):
The football field.

Speaker 6 (36:27):
You You're not just running by everybody on the football field.

Speaker 3 (36:31):
You got to set some of them things up.

Speaker 6 (36:32):
And then for running backs, it's how could I get
myself in the rhythm three or four plays might not
get it. I need to be in there for a
two series to kind of see how the game is
being played, what's going on the blocking assignments, And that's.

Speaker 3 (36:47):
Another thing to do that, huh, and afford to do that?

Speaker 6 (36:50):
No, and that And that's the thing is that the
way that the road chation goes because even offensive linemen
and that you can speak you can speak on this
better than I can.

Speaker 3 (36:57):
But you know, offensive linemen.

Speaker 6 (37:01):
Block, they're they're taught to block a certain way, but
the blocking differs depending on the back.

Speaker 3 (37:09):
Some backs are slower, some backs are quicker.

Speaker 6 (37:12):
So getting that rhythm will to how the lineman is
supposed to block, even even the lineman getting the rhythm
of how the back is supposed to the back is running,
so his his his alley or his or his track
that he's supposed to be on.

Speaker 3 (37:26):
That differs between each back.

Speaker 4 (37:29):
So would you the struggles he's had and the limited
playing time that he's had, would you continue to give
him real game reps? Or would you say, you know what,
let's take those four touches he's getting and put them
in somebody's hands.

Speaker 6 (37:42):
That no, you got to keep you got it because
eventually you got to know, you gotta know know, and
then the scene will open, right, the scene will open.
He'll he'll get one when that thing open up like
the Red Sea. And then and then he gets through
and you go there.

Speaker 2 (37:59):
See it's a difference, uh, Javonte Juggernaut.

Speaker 5 (38:04):
He is patient, Jugger Knaut, Yeah, he is patient like that.

Speaker 7 (38:07):
Yeah, what you call it is anxious.

Speaker 2 (38:10):
When you're anxious, you can't see, you know, he gets
the ball in the first feet go to chopping. He anxious,
he hoping that this ain't a drawing play.

Speaker 7 (38:18):
Son.

Speaker 2 (38:18):
You gotta go towards the whole, right, you gotta take
your time and you gotta see did like just say,
when he set up that block, when you hang back
just a little bit in that linebacker, try to hit
that week's side a gap and all of a sudden
you pop out of that on that strong.

Speaker 7 (38:32):
Side that linebacker. I mean that the guard's right up
there on it. Now you just ride. He just gotta
get rid of it.

Speaker 3 (38:38):
Just get patient, be patient, and that takes time.

Speaker 7 (38:41):
That takes time.

Speaker 6 (38:42):
Again, he missed time in training camp, he missed time
in the preseason, so all those reps that he didn't get.
Then he was inactive for the first four weeks in
a season.

Speaker 2 (38:52):
You know, it's amazing when you're a great athlete and
in college, no matter what you did, it always easter
not right.

Speaker 7 (39:01):
But it don't do that on this level.

Speaker 6 (39:02):
Yeah, because you're playing against the greatest of athletes like you.
Every everybody here at this level is the is was
the greatest athlete at their middle school, high school, probably
their college, right and now you're just putting a collection
of those dudes on the team together just and that's
that's the that's that's the difference. So but like on

(39:23):
the secondary part of this, they they play a lot
of cover Like Dan Quinn is very familiar with Dak Prescott,
He's very familiar with Ceedee Lamb, He's very familiar with
lots of the they have already run this game. He
won't say it, Joe Whitt won't say it. It's personal, right, right,
Like this personal. It was supposed to be one of

(39:43):
them deals where you know, hey, when you moved on
from that coach, you're supposed to, you know, give Dad
Quinn a head coaching job, and he's supposed to promote
with them.

Speaker 3 (39:50):
With Joe, it's personal.

Speaker 7 (39:52):
And so.

Speaker 3 (39:55):
One of the reasons why.

Speaker 6 (39:56):
I believe that they are as high as they are
ranked as far as rush defense, is because they do
what we are trying to get the Cowboys to do
with their rushes. They commit more guys they like, they'll
blitch you, right, and and it's kind of almost we'll
blitz on first down, we'll blitz on second down, which normally,

(40:18):
relatively speaking, our rundowns, right, It's not like it's third
down where you know the blitz is coming. They have
those where they'll put six, seven guys in the box
on the back end, they'll play cover six, they'll play
cover three, they'll play man and you'll see them a
lot of times where they're we call it rocking the
safeties right, So if the stript is to the defense
of the left right side of the right side for

(40:40):
the offense, and you'll see the safety down on this
side and the other safety kind of middle of the field,
and then you'll see emotion go and then you'll see
the safeties just rock. You'll see one come down and
the other one will replace him. So they're kind of
they'll they'll play it like that and that safety will
kind of fill into that gap, whether it's guarding that
man or coming down to that week side back or
so they're they're doing different things like that, which I

(41:02):
think a lot of time when you when you're doing
all that shifting and moving, they don't have problem with communication,
I guess because they're able to do all that kind
of stuff. But when you start running these crossers and
he start running these mess routes, that's when you can
start picking these guys off. When when when you can
when you can get guys like CD and interpend and there,
and they're moving across the formation and having a guy
come underneath the guy over top. That's when you can

(41:24):
kind of get off. But the problem is is that
they're Russian, so you got to be able to get
it off before Frankie Louvu, Preston Smith or kin Law
or one of those guys get to the quarterback Miller
and then they'll yeah, yeah he got he got anything left.

Speaker 7 (41:41):
Yeah, he just he just got somebody. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (41:44):
So you know, but they're active group. They're very active group.

Speaker 6 (41:49):
And and you can even probably see like like Marshawn Lattimore,
you remember him from from New Orleans, so they may
run different things whatever, like you know what, we're gonna
man over here, you're on George Pickens and we're gonna
double over here on CD or vice versa. Things like
that that you can do with Marshawn Lattimore because he's
still considered one of those type of corners that can play,

(42:10):
you know guys man man, I'm not saying that he's
gonna shut any of our guys down, but they would
be willing to at least see what that looks like
if we manned up over here and doubled another player
over here at different point in times in the game.
But if this defense, like I said, it's an active defense.
This is not a defense that can't be whooped. The

(42:32):
way that the Cowboys offense is playing right now, this
is definitely a defense that can be whooped if you
block it up and if you run the right runs. Again,
if their plan is to run in the A gaps
and the B gaps, I think you're setting yourself up
for failure.

Speaker 3 (42:48):
I just don't. I don't think we have enough.

Speaker 6 (42:53):
We don't have enough weight in our back pockets that's
gonna be able to control the line of scrimmage.

Speaker 3 (42:57):
In that part.

Speaker 6 (42:58):
I think when you get those guys that because again,
Bobby Wagner good linebacker coming downhill, I want Bobby Wagoner
to have to cover sutline the sideline that I want
the old man to have to move those puppies.

Speaker 3 (43:10):
He can't. He can't move those puppies.

Speaker 6 (43:12):
So I want to get running plays out on the
edge where I know I can get my younger, faster,
more athletic offensive lineman up to that second level and
get a piece of Bobby Wagoner, Because if you think
you're just going come right at him, he's shedding blocks,
he's taking on blocks, he's getting rid of He's still
that he got that old man's strength.

Speaker 3 (43:31):
He's still being able to you know, he's smart. So
he plays his keys very very well.

Speaker 6 (43:36):
He sees plays development like he's he has the mind
like Sean Lee where he'll beat you to the spot

off every edge mid games.

Speaker 2 (44:43):
They'll go slow sometime they won't. They won't do it
right away. They'll go they'll go slow to see where
that quarterback gonna go. If you if that's that guy
is penetrating, if he gets on the edge and make
that quarterback move where he's gonna get out, then I'll
go on and finish my stunt. But if he's just
gonna stand there and come back this way, I'm going.

Speaker 7 (45:02):
