At the same problems you had, Yes, you got it fixed.
Speaker 3 (00:59):
Though, here we go.
Speaker 4 (01:00):
Why does somebody turn that on because they.
Speaker 2 (01:03):
Know you're going to sit there.
Speaker 5 (01:06):
Him.
Speaker 3 (01:06):
They want they want us to false start on this, right, yeah,
all right? Oh, but there is so much happening around
here at the Star and Frisco.
Speaker 4 (01:16):
Is just wait a day for an hour.
Speaker 3 (01:19):
That's right. Usually it's what it's been the case in
the past. Uh is usually the breaking news happens as
soon as we get done with mixed shots and uh
so that everything that's true.
Speaker 2 (01:32):
I know the feeling. Uh huh, I know the feeling.
Speaker 3 (01:34):
But we got a run list today or right nearly
after your come on. Three miles, three miles. That's all
you need at four am.
Speaker 6 (01:43):
Yes, I wait till eight though to send it, to
make sure that Mickey's in the middle of this workout

Speaker 4 (01:51):
No workout today.
Speaker 3 (01:52):
Okay, what's going on?
Speaker 2 (01:54):
It's your cheap day, hump day.
Speaker 3 (01:56):
It's back to work Wednesday.
Speaker 4 (01:57):
I had to get a haircut. Oh oh yeah, I
didn't even notice.
Speaker 7 (02:01):
All right, here we go, there we go.
Speaker 3 (02:08):
And where would you like to start, Mickey? Would you
like to start with the reports out there?
Speaker 4 (02:12):
Might as well premises here that Nadian Clowney was here
for a visit.
Speaker 3 (02:18):
Look, ever, said, I watching what's he doing out there?
Speaker 4 (02:25):
I would imagine he's coming in for a visit.
Speaker 8 (02:28):
A y z out there?
Speaker 4 (02:30):
Well, probably two reasons. Number one, the first game's over with,
so now veteran contracts aren't guaranteed. This is vested veterans,
vested veteran weak. And uh number two, he doesn't have
a job. And number three, this number salary cap space
(02:51):
at number four veterans that like him don't want to
go to training camp. So now training camp's over for sure,
and now it's time to play foot all and so
they're kicking tires.
Speaker 7 (03:02):
So now we got to ramp him up if we
sign him. And no for like, no ramp up.
Speaker 4 (03:10):
Well we'll find out if he was tires.
Speaker 3 (03:13):
They're they're figuring that out.
Speaker 4 (03:16):
You didn't have to ramp up Michael Parsons, did you.
Speaker 8 (03:19):
No, didn't have to which.
Speaker 4 (03:20):
By the way, did you see what Quinn said yesterday?
Speaker 3 (03:24):
Quinn?
Speaker 4 (03:24):
Yeah, Dan Quinn, sorry, Washington head coach. They asked him, so,
what are your plans for for Michael Parsons And he goes, well,
i'll tell you what he goes. It's a short week
and I would sit him.
Speaker 2 (03:37):
I wouldn't absolutely.
Speaker 8 (03:43):
Just looking just looking out for him.
Speaker 4 (03:46):
Yeah, right now, I think I'll sit.
Speaker 8 (03:48):
Him if I were you guys, Yeah, I got that.
Speaker 4 (03:51):
So anyway, so, uh, you know, you know what I think.
I walked by him today, I saw, you know, there
was a Mike nod Gavadian.
Speaker 3 (04:06):
I just wanted That's why I didn't say Clowny's game
off the top. I was hoping that Micky would.
Speaker 4 (04:16):
That's all I need to worry.
Speaker 3 (04:17):
There, you go, right?
Speaker 8 (04:18):
Uh?
Speaker 4 (04:19):
I think I walked by him because there was a
guy walking past me and he was really tall and
looked like a defensive end. So I'm going, oh, that
must be him. So he is here if that indeed
was him, and he didn't have any cowboy gear on
or anything, so he might have just got here. Yeah,
(04:40):
kick the tires. See what he's got. Now, there's got
to be a reason why in the last six years
he's played for five different teams.
Speaker 3 (04:50):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (04:51):
The only team he's played for more than one year
was Cleveland twenty two twenty three. But that twenty three
season he did have uh, you know, twenty three was
in Baltimore. He did have nine and a half sackri.
Speaker 2 (05:04):
Yes, he did with the.
Speaker 4 (05:05):
Raven So there's something there. Now, it's just a matter
of is he in shape, is he ready to play?
And how much?
Speaker 6 (05:14):
The big question for me is I think I thought
the most talented room post Micah was the defensive end room.
Speaker 2 (05:21):
And so post Micah post.
Speaker 6 (05:23):
Micah with you know, your second round draft pick, Dante
Fowlis and Williams, those names that are in there, why
do you think they brought him in though. That's the
biggest question for me if that's the most talented group
after week one.
Speaker 4 (05:37):
Tried to take advantage of maybe something that might not
cost you very much. Okay, I mean Carolina signed him
to a two year, twenty million dollars guaranteed, I mean
contract last year and twelve million was guaranteed. And they
cut him and they said, well, we needed the seven
(06:00):
million dollars in cap space, but you had six million
dollars in dead money against the cap. So they moved.
Speaker 3 (06:07):
Carolina also got rid of that Phelan who was quickly
picked up by the middlest Vikings where they was traded.
However that worked at but.
Speaker 4 (06:16):
Yeah, and they drafted some young guys, so they moved on.
Speaker 2 (06:20):
For me.
Speaker 4 (06:20):
He had five and a half sacks last year playing
what did I have? Sixty four percent of the snaps
thirty two, So this would be his eleventh twelfth, No,
he's eleven year veteran, this would be his twelfth.
Speaker 3 (06:36):
He was the number one overall pick in twenty fourteen
by the Texans.
Speaker 7 (06:41):
You know, you have to be careful at thirty two
years old, not being ready. Yeah, be very careful at
thirty two years old playing that position and just coming in.
Speaker 8 (06:53):
That's back in the old school days.
Speaker 7 (06:55):
You know what, none of the big guys worked out
all in the offseason, right till Bob Wallis does make
things happened, But for the most part, they stopped doing
that a long time ago. To where I rest in
the off season, then I get in shape during the season.
Speaker 8 (07:09):
I'm wondering how that process is going to.
Speaker 4 (07:12):
Take, like what he did.
Speaker 7 (07:13):
Yeah, how long is it going to take for him?
And that's what I say about ramp up. I know
it's not an injury, but he needs to ramp up
as far as getting his body prepared, like you said,
even after you kick the tires.
Speaker 4 (07:24):
So you hope he didn't go to the d D
Lewis of off season workout right sixteen. I asked d
D about that one time and I said, what did
you do in the off season? Did you work out?
He goes, yeah, man, he said, I got in the
swimming pool and I did sixteen ounce curls.
Speaker 7 (07:42):
The whole time. Yeah, And so that's the old school
way of thinking. They don't do that anymore, and I'm wondering, how.
Speaker 4 (07:49):
Well. Here's the thing I told Bill when we were
walking down the hallway, I said, see, this is the
benefit and the Cowboys rarely have this benefit of having
thirty seven million dollars available in cap space. You've got
room to make a mistake. Before they couldn't make mistakes, right,
So you can almost bet as long as it's not
(08:11):
a huge amount of money, you can bet on say Okay,
let's bring them in and see what we got, and
if we don't, we take out the eraser and say, okay,
see you.
Speaker 3 (08:20):
So, getting back to Hekma's question, Okay, let's look at
the inventory that the Cowboys have at the edge rusher position,
where you've got Sam Williams. You've got Dante Fowler, who
you signing free agency decent money. You got the second
round draft pick Donovanzeraku, you got James Houston who had
flashed in the preseason, and and Marshawn Neeland who looks
(08:44):
strong in the first game. And so, from the mindset
of the coaches in front office, why are you now
kicking the tires on Clowney? And I think one of
the reasons is, as Mickey is alluded to, this is
the window to do it with a vested veteran week
just to see what you got there. You okay, I
(09:07):
think you always are looking at okay, what if we
lose a player to injury? It is inevitable, of course
you are so how well stocked are you with guys
who can get to the quarterback? And he had five
and a half sacks last year for Carolina in what
Mickey said, sixty four percent of the snaps. He played
fourteen games last year. So I think it's prudent to
(09:30):
take a look and if you like it, you know
into long season, you got sixteen more regular season games
to go, and if he can fit in at a
reasonable price, then have at it. You always does and
does he fit also you're you're talking to him. Does
he fit the culture too?
Speaker 2 (09:48):
Yes?
Speaker 6 (09:49):
And I think you, as with that kind of cap space,
you're always scouting, You're always looking for new blood to
come in. I just asked a question because I thought,
after watching the Week one that there was other positions
that you may have brought someone else in.
Speaker 3 (10:02):
Here's another way look at it. They had Micah, they haven't.
I mean, Michaeh was on the roster and was set
to play in the first week. Supposedly, if they had
agreed to something, or if they hadn't traded him and
they haven't done anything to replace him, so why not?
Speaker 4 (10:25):
Well, and look at it. Also, you mentioned you mentioned Nelan, right, Yeah, okay,
he's flashed, But how much experience does he had because
he started the season last year? I think he started
one game maybe, and then he got hurt and he
didn't play that much. Sam Williams didn't play at all.
Speaker 2 (10:46):
Oh yeah, last year, and.
Speaker 4 (10:48):
Prior to that he didn't. I don't believe he had
any starts, you know, and then I don't know. It's
a rock who's rookie, and James Houston got picked up
off the stret free agent, don't Okay, So we're not
talking a lot of experience other than Dante Fowler.
Speaker 3 (11:07):
Yeah, is Niland's playstyle the same as Clowney's play style?
I look at Neiland, he is, Yeah, he can play
defensive end, but he can also rush, and from men's side,
he looks like.
Speaker 4 (11:21):
He's DeMarcus Lawrence replacements.
Speaker 3 (11:24):
So I don't even include Nielan in that edge rusher category.
Speaker 6 (11:29):
Right, that I guess. But the point that I'm I guess,
y'all won't. I tried to lay the bait and y'all
and go that way. So I'll just say it. You know,
the interior guys is you know, one in three is
defensive tackles. I look at niland As to be that
tw that tweener as well, a guy that could do both.
But I thought it would be inside that they would
would go looking because at some point ivra Flus obviously
(11:52):
he's gonna he's bringing the pressure, he's playings one on
the backside, but internally, you got to be able to
stop the run. And I think the guys showed. I
love what he did in the middle Osa. He had
his moments, good or bad, but I saw the rotation
what they're working with. I just didn't think that defensive
end was well.
Speaker 4 (12:09):
Is there a Javadian Jadejdavian Clowney out there at defensive
tax I don't know. I don't know Clark Kenny Clark
and they got him like Kenny Clark.
Speaker 6 (12:20):
Yeah, yeah, Mickey, I don't know that I'm even looking
for a defensive end because of the way that these
guys are hunting that we have. I saw Dante Fowler
make a mistake and we we've already talked about that.
Speaker 2 (12:30):
But as far as the rookie.
Speaker 6 (12:32):
The growing pains are there, but I think he's coming
along and I think after we get more of a
sample size of him, you'll be able, you'll be comfortable
with him as an edge rusher. Sam Williams as well.
I think knocking off the rust from not playing for
an entire season, you're going to be pleasantly surprised about him.
I don't know if the motivation needs to be bringing
another guy because, oh, we might lose.
Speaker 2 (12:53):
You got a room full of guys.
Speaker 4 (12:54):
Well, you got rosters.
Speaker 7 (12:56):
I think you got a room full of cap space left.
That's why they're doing it. That's the only reason they're
doing it.
Speaker 8 (13:01):
I think.
Speaker 4 (13:01):
Yeah, and they have a roster. It wasn't for that, right,
they didn't filled the roster spot for putting Winfrey on
injured reserve.
Speaker 2 (13:11):
Right.
Speaker 6 (13:11):
No, any thought that he didn't play special teams or
anything like that. Nothing, I mean, because he's he's just ah.
No thoughts about that. Okay, who clowny. Yeah, he doesn't
play special teams. He's not going to be a guy
that you play on special teams.
Speaker 3 (13:23):
Would Okay, Cowboys are playing the Giants this week. Yes,
the Giants signed a guy from the Cowboys in the
off season. Chauncey Golston, who, by the way, he got
three years, nineteen and a half million dollars and I
think he played fourteen snaps in their opener eleven fourteen
snaps something like that, which I thought they overpaid for.
Speaker 2 (13:46):
Good agent.
Speaker 3 (13:46):
Yeah, would you rather have Would you rather have Chauncey
Goldston or Jadeveon Clowney?
Speaker 2 (13:53):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (13:54):
On this team.
Speaker 8 (13:55):
I like Chauncey Golston. Is that the wrong answer? I like?
Speaker 2 (14:00):
Okay, I'm just wondering.
Speaker 8 (14:01):
Okay, only because he might know the defense a little
bit better. I guess man, he's a younger.
Speaker 4 (14:10):
I just think it's worth kicking the tire. I'm not
saying you're gonna sign him.
Speaker 8 (14:14):
Oh no, No, I'm very intrigued.
Speaker 7 (14:17):
I'm intrigued. I just hope that he comes in here.
I don't want him. I don't want him doing the D. D.
Speaker 8 (14:21):
Lewis off season work out.
Speaker 7 (14:23):
Ye, him at least doing something, you know, because you
know those days at once again thirty two years old,
and you're saying, I'm just gonna get work my way in.
It's gonna take some weeks for you to get back
in shape. You know, it's gonna take you a month
to get back in shape at that size, that age.
Speaker 4 (14:40):
He looked He looked good to me, but he had
a blussy sweat shirt.
Speaker 3 (14:45):
And the other reason that I mentioned he's big though,
the other reason I mentioned Golston, they both had five
and a half sacks last year. We know watching Golston here,
and I did not have a problem with letting him
go in free agency.
Speaker 2 (15:01):
You wouldn't have paid three at that price.
Speaker 3 (15:03):
At a at a more economical price, Yeah, because he
he fits the culture as far as being a really
try hard you know.
Speaker 4 (15:13):
Well that's what happened to Dorince Armstrong, you know.
Speaker 3 (15:18):
And Armstrong. Armstrong is more of a you know, Goldston
is more of a tweener, yeah, inside outside. Armstrong is
more of an outside guy. So he is a better
example to Clowney, I.
Speaker 4 (15:30):
Think, and he's starting these and a better athlete is
Doris Armstrong.
Speaker 2 (15:36):
Project.
Speaker 6 (15:37):
Yeah, let's get those two guys back in.
Speaker 4 (15:40):
The day when you were up against the salary cap
all the time. And you know, as I was telling Bill,
you know, usually at this point in the season, the
Cowboys have ten to twelve million dollars available under the
cap and you've got to account for guys going on
I are that's to operate.
Speaker 3 (15:58):
You have to wait. You have to wait until he
gets hurt, and then you make a move right now
you can be.
Speaker 4 (16:03):
And then you've got to replace the guy on the
rosters that count. So ten to twelve million doesn't go
very far. But now when you're at thirty seven million,
you can make a mistake.
Speaker 6 (16:13):
I on a list of guys that are in their
primo that I wish with Dallas Cowboys, that are probably
going to end up being Dallas Cowboys.
Speaker 2 (16:20):
The thirty three we.
Speaker 7 (16:23):
Should think the other guys out there. You know that
we can take a look at all We have all
this space.
Speaker 4 (16:28):
All for you your last two years.
Speaker 8 (16:30):
In Cleveland thirty two, thirty three.
Speaker 4 (16:32):
Thirty two thirty three.
Speaker 3 (16:34):
But he was in tip top shape.
Speaker 4 (16:36):
That's right out the year he worked out.
Speaker 3 (16:38):
Now, the other thing that has happened this week that
may have flown under the radar because it happened through
college football and NFL Sunday, is the Eagles did signs
of Darius Smith and the immediate aftermath of the game
on Thursday, they saw they had an issue at the
edge rusher position.
Speaker 2 (16:56):
And talk about kicking the tires.
Speaker 3 (16:59):
They immediate lead did that.
Speaker 6 (17:01):
And so this is a guy that's shown your production
the same as And I'm not saying that Jadavion isn't
in that same vein as him. I'm just saying that
we had a chance to get him with before he
got to Cleveland, and we passed on him.
Speaker 4 (17:14):
Probably didn't have the money pending.
Speaker 2 (17:16):
Obviously Cleveland paid, yeah, obviously.
Speaker 4 (17:19):
And then Carolina paid him big time, which.
Speaker 3 (17:22):
By the way, so I'm now looking up Zadarius Smith
and last year he had sixteen starts between Cleveland and Detroit,
and he had nine sacks total, okay production thirty five tackles,
nine tackles for loss, seventeen quarterback hits and I wrote
(17:43):
down clownies here where did I put it? Fourteen starts
last year, forty six tackles, nine tackles for lost, eleven
quarterback hits in five and a half sacks.
Speaker 6 (17:53):
Veteran guys gotta hate that if I'm not on the
opening day roster.
Speaker 4 (17:56):
That ye, and both about the same age thirty, Yeah,
you know, and the Eagles, can you name their defensive ends?
Speaker 3 (18:04):
Yeah, we just played them. Nolan Smith is the first
one that well, you didn't count.
Speaker 4 (18:09):
Oh, he doesn't count because he's studying the thing.
Speaker 8 (18:13):
Okay, Nolan Smith, Oh okay.
Speaker 4 (18:16):
And who's the other guy who's the.
Speaker 8 (18:20):
It's not Graham, it was I don't know, yeah, yeah, it's.
Speaker 3 (18:23):
That some some hunt and they lost Schweat. Yeah, in
free agency, and wh we go Arizona? Who got ganted Jonathan?
Speaker 4 (18:32):
They didn't have enough money. They didn't have enough money
to pay them.
Speaker 6 (18:36):
But I know who Davis and Carter is, well I
can I can tell you. I know you didn't ask me,
but I'm telling you who they are. I know who
they are.
Speaker 4 (18:44):
Well, he's fifty seven thousand dollars short, now, that's right,
that's right. And so uh, I don't think he got
enough for his sith.
Speaker 8 (18:56):
That's a two spin.
Speaker 3 (18:57):
He was for sure losing that. Yeah, So the question
is should there be more?
Speaker 4 (19:01):
Right, Well, spitting on a player, they basically gave him
a one game suspension.
Speaker 8 (19:06):
It's basically it's like an assault, right, yeah.
Speaker 3 (19:09):
So ever since do you what do you think? Do
you think you got.
Speaker 7 (19:12):
More than I don't really, I've never really seen a
guy assault someone, you know, because that's why the category
is something I've never seen one of the assault someone
on the field because it's football. So I don't know
how I have no merit to go, but I have
no guideline to go.
Speaker 4 (19:26):
Now, if he was only making twenty thousand dollars a week,
that's a different story. But fifty seven when find schedules
out there, that that's pretty significant. That's like a one
game suspension.
Speaker 2 (19:39):
It is, that is what.
Speaker 3 (19:41):
Yeah, but he's gonna make fifty seven thousand dollars this
week playing well, yes, I mean that's just his salary
is fifty seven thousand dollars a week, right.
Speaker 7 (19:50):
I think really, you know, Relat, we make a joke
about this, but you know your rep is all you got,
and you know when you know him for doing something
that disgusting, and I just look at you as a
totally different person period. I'm sure a lot of people
like its football, who can but that's a nasty crap?
Speaker 3 (20:06):
Do you okay, do you think it's just nasty? Do
you think it played that spit some of the people? Man,
do you think there.
Speaker 4 (20:14):
Was a have you ever done it?
Speaker 8 (20:16):
No? I don't even I'm barely spit period. Do you
think the I'm not even good at it?
Speaker 3 (20:22):
Yeah, there's some people they all the time, like on
the field. I can't even know how to do that.
Speaker 4 (20:28):
You know, Like if I had to spit right now,
I couldn't.
Speaker 3 (20:31):
Yeah, I would have to like really be like Jason
Garrett on the sideline all the time. Yeah, spitting spit,
you know. And there's some people that.
Speaker 2 (20:39):
Live a little.
Speaker 4 (20:43):
You've got spit, doctor of spit.
Speaker 7 (20:46):
Just once again, you got spit and then you have
a LOOKI difference.
Speaker 3 (20:53):
I'm afraid I spit it right, you know.
Speaker 8 (20:59):
Look that takes talent.
Speaker 6 (21:03):
You're the directionally challenge spit that's going on. Here we
go with this.
Speaker 3 (21:12):
One final thing on Jalen Carter. Do you think the
fact that the Eagles are playing the Chiefs this week
factored into the decision not to give him another game
game if they were playing Carolina this week, might he
have gotten that extra game. But that is the highest
profile game of the week.
Speaker 2 (21:29):
Good thought.
Speaker 6 (21:30):
So, I mean, look, what he did was agreedious, it
was nasty. Fifty seven thousand dollars. Don't do that again.
He won't spit on nobody else, you know. But no,
they weren't going to keep them away from the Kansas
City game.
Speaker 3 (21:44):
Come on, now, no, that's what I looked at it.
Speaker 7 (21:47):
Well, if you're going to spin on, somebody's best to
do it before the game starts.
Speaker 3 (21:50):
That's the lesson. If you're going to do something, do it,
then you can just serve your suspension.
Speaker 8 (21:56):
Now.
Speaker 6 (21:56):
Now, now that that may be the consideration there that
he did it before the first series, So that okay,
that's the one they said, Yeah, that is the reason
he did it in the third quarter. He would be
missing college.
Speaker 4 (22:11):
You got to miss the next half.
Speaker 2 (22:13):
That's get started.
Speaker 3 (22:14):
That's right, all right, we go to the run list
the Giants run list were.
Speaker 8 (22:20):
Sure we are.
Speaker 4 (22:22):
Wait, I got another topic.
Speaker 9 (22:27):
Hey, Cowboy fans, Keith Davis here, former Cowboys safety. You
know what separates Champtons from the rest making the right
move at the right moment. The blockchain dot Com. That's

Maybe one fifteen fifteen. And that's where we're going to

Speaker 4 (25:59):
Okay, we change sometimes the Omnis.

Booked for things.
Speaker 8 (26:02):
I have it right here.
Speaker 5 (26:03):
Miss.
Speaker 3 (26:05):
Here's the question I would like to pose in this segment.
Can the Giants offense survive the heat?
Speaker 4 (26:12):
What do you mean the boys heat?
Speaker 2 (26:15):
The heat?
Speaker 3 (26:16):
The heat heat heat table's seat is hot. Oh, I
was thinking made the decision on Monday.
Speaker 4 (26:25):
I was thinking. He knew the roof was going to
be open.
Speaker 3 (26:28):
It's going to be hot.
Speaker 2 (26:29):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (26:30):
I'm on your way to the even a noon. It'll
be warming up the way at the time you leave,
it's going to be ninety five degrees. By the way,
the roof will not be open.
Speaker 8 (26:38):
Yes, the Frisco Convention Center.
Speaker 4 (26:40):
That's what I thought.
Speaker 7 (26:41):
Yes, Okay, not at the Omni, not at the the
Frisco Convention Center, seven six palk Wait, thank.
Speaker 4 (26:47):
You, just right down the street, that's right.
Speaker 3 (26:49):
Okay, enough about that, Hey, I just't even though I
brought it up and we answer questions to it all, right.
Speaker 2 (26:57):
Okay, survive the heat.
Speaker 4 (26:59):
Well, which one the kad coach the quarterback?
Speaker 2 (27:04):
Can we put them both in the same barrelton? I
think they are. They're all in the same this thing together.
Speaker 8 (27:09):
Well.
Speaker 4 (27:10):
Schottenheimer was asked about is going to be difficult to
prepare for a team when you don't know possibly who
the starting quarterback is. Well, his answer was before he knew,
before Daballs said that Russell Wilson's starting, he said, well,
you know, they had a package for Jackson Dart for
(27:32):
that first game, so we got it prepared for at
least that package or whatever the package is.
Speaker 2 (27:39):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (27:40):
And I think at this point, just because Russell Wilson's
starting doesn't mean he's finishing if things go sour real quick.
So I think, as he said, I know Russell Wilson.
He had him for three years in Seattle. I looked
(28:01):
up the numbers, had best numbers of his career in
three years, he had one hundred and six touchdown passes
in twenty five interceptions. And they were all three years
they were ranked in the top ten in offense and
they went thirty three and fifteen I think it was,
and they won the West in twenty twenty and then
(28:25):
he and.
Speaker 3 (28:26):
Then got fired.
Speaker 8 (28:26):
He got fired, right, why did they get fired?
Speaker 4 (28:32):
Well, I don't know. Pete Carroll is buddy.
Speaker 8 (28:36):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I don't know.
Speaker 6 (28:38):
When you smile like that, that means Pete something else
going on, something in the water.
Speaker 8 (28:41):
He got something going something to do with Pete.
Speaker 3 (28:44):
They're they're still tight, yeah right yeah. In fact, schott
Enneimer says that when he's asked about who had the
greatest influence on him as a coach outside of his dad,
it's Pete Carroll.
Speaker 6 (28:58):
And that's apparent. That's by the way he runs the
runs practice and the music and putting a basketball.
Speaker 4 (29:03):
Goal, all of that and running around on the practice
field like Pete Carroll would.
Speaker 6 (29:08):
But yesterday we talked a little bit about about the quarterback,
and I felt like when we were talking about Russ,
we're talking about his talent diminishing, deteriorating as we see
him now.
Speaker 2 (29:20):
The Giants.
Speaker 6 (29:20):
But I'll just say this, he's probably one of those
quarterbacks that benefited the most from coach and quarterback relationship
with him and Pete Carroll when he was in Seattle.
Because obviously no one really gives him credit for winning
that Super Bowl because of the legion of boom, but
also just the way that he played. You're gonna call
him a bus driver whatever. But in those playoff games,
he came up big, and no doubt he came up
(29:41):
he plays one of his well, two of his strengths
to me has been always been his long ball and
when things break down, Russ getting out and running on you.
So he still has that dimension as well.
Speaker 7 (29:53):
And so I'm just he just doesn't have the offensive
line to help him out.
Speaker 8 (29:57):
I mean, when you look.
Speaker 7 (29:57):
At his Giants offensive line, it's bad. The fact that
he was trying to improvise. He didn't even have time
to improvise. Let's just be real. When you have a
quarterback that can get back there and do certain things,
it's usually because he has time, you have time to improvise.
I mean, even with Dak in the game, there were
times when he was under dress he had to break
(30:18):
a few tackles and save some sacks. But when it
all came down to it, his offensive line, they gave
him somewhere to step up. They always gave him a
way out for the most part in that game, and
that was consistent for the entire game. That has a
lot to do. First of all, with the quarterback's ability
to run. I don't think Russell's ability to run is
(30:39):
the same. His ability to throw is the same. His
ability to escape is not the same. And I think
that's where he's losing some of his credibility.
Speaker 4 (30:47):
What about his ability to stand in the pocket and
take a hit to get a throw off.
Speaker 7 (30:52):
No, I don't think he I think he shies away.
Speaker 8 (30:54):
He's take time. He shot, he takes.
Speaker 6 (30:57):
He's taken too many licks. Yeah, from Denver to Pittsburgh.
He gunshot now.
Speaker 7 (31:03):
And that's that's why he Once you cut off his
first option, he's done.
Speaker 4 (31:09):
See that's what happens to me with older quarterbacks. They
don't lose their armstring, they lose their nerves.
Speaker 8 (31:16):
That's right.
Speaker 4 (31:17):
They don't want to get hit anymore. They don't want
people nipping at their toes, you know.
Speaker 7 (31:21):
And as Aaron Rodgers, what just happened this past weekend
and we'll see how it feels this week.
Speaker 8 (31:27):
He got hit.
Speaker 7 (31:27):
He got hit a lot, and that's that's something that's
going to bold not bode well for him at all
for the rest of the season.
Speaker 8 (31:34):
Same as with Russell Wilson.
Speaker 7 (31:36):
It's just different when you don't have that youth that
you have in your legs. That you can have the brain,
you can have the arm even, but you don't have
that leg those legs like.
Speaker 8 (31:47):
You're used to.
Speaker 7 (31:48):
I don't care who you are, I don't care how
much you box. I don't care what you're doing. It's
going to deteriorate period forty years old less than that.
Speaker 6 (31:56):
Yeah, big difference between Lamar Jackson, johnsh Allen and the
quarterbacks that we're talking about. The guys don't have the
same escapability and the ability to take hits like that.
Speaker 7 (32:09):
And then me, the Cowboys should be working on Forget
the quarterbacks.
Speaker 8 (32:12):
We still need to be working on what we're weak at.
Speaker 7 (32:16):
We still need to be on side in training camp
mode to where we're still going to concentrate on things
that are going to make us successful. I wouldn't even
care about who's playing quarterback. I would care about what
you guys talked about yesterday. Who's playing defensive end. That's
what needs to worry about. How well we still need
to work on ourselves number one and number two. We
(32:37):
need to know where they are strong. And you said
it yesterday too, defensive ends, and those are the guys
that we need to worry.
Speaker 4 (32:42):
About because that this will be a bit I think
with Carter missing, this will be a better pass rush.
Speaker 3 (32:51):
Oh with Jalen Carter missing.
Speaker 4 (32:54):
You know, with Washington. But now these guys, because their
defensive ends are pretty talented, Thibodeaux pretty good, and they.
Speaker 3 (33:02):
Draft Brian Burns and Abdua Carter.
Speaker 4 (33:05):
And Carrill the guy from.
Speaker 7 (33:07):
Dexter Larrenes, And we don't need to be naive in that.
Let's concentrate on whatever that strength is. Let's concentrate on
negating their strength, and then from then on we worry
about what we do correctly.
Speaker 4 (33:19):
Because I thought, I don't know what you guys thought
or what you were expecting from the offensive line, but
I thought that was the biggest concern going into that game,
because you just didn't know those five guys never played
a game together.
Speaker 2 (33:33):
Well, you see that you see them playing.
Speaker 6 (33:35):
They played a lot of twelve personnel in that game
in the run, in the running game, and the commanders
didn't have any problems with it. And they scatterbooed Devin
Singletary uh and Tracy the running backs. And that's when
you talk about being in training camp mode and taking
care of what you need to take care of in
this game. It's stopping to run. Yeah, that's that's the
that's the number one thing. If we stopped we stopped
(33:58):
the run. I think the rest of it with with
with with their quarterback, with with with Wilson is we
know who his main target is. We got plenty of
guys in blad and digs that can stop that.
Speaker 7 (34:10):
Let's not be naive, that's what you're saying. Let's not
be it be naive on the problems that they're having.
But also we can't just run in there like you know,
we got everything. Taking care of the offensive line is
bad Wilson.
Speaker 3 (34:23):
And a thing to monitor this week is Andrew Thomas,
their left tackle, and say if he returns did not
play last week coming off of Liz Frank surgery last year,
and they've been ramping him up slowly.
Speaker 2 (34:36):
So yeah, man, that size he needs his feet.
Speaker 3 (34:42):
Schottenheimer will say at his press conference, which is starting
right now, that they need to rest him another week.
Speaker 6 (34:47):
Yeah, this would be a perfect time.
Speaker 3 (34:53):
Maybe he can.
Speaker 4 (34:54):
Brian, let me give you some And by the way.
Speaker 3 (34:57):
The connection coaching connection shot with the Giant staff, Well,
Brian Dable. And by the way, it's even though it's
spelled like dab all whatever it's it's it's Dable. It's
like table Okay, well they need.
Speaker 4 (35:13):
To like to look it up.
Speaker 3 (35:17):
Yeah, but it's Dable like table build anyway, Uh, he was.
Dable was Schottenheimer's quarterbacks coach when he was the offensive
coordinator with the Jets his first Shottenneimer's first offensive coordinator
job in seven and eight. Dable was the quarterbacks coach
for the Jets then and he became the offensive coordinator
(35:39):
with the Browns right after that. So there's that connection.
Speaker 6 (35:42):
Now you talk about Dable as as the head coach
in OC where you shocked that he relinquished the play
calling at the beginning of the season and was that
the first thing that.
Speaker 3 (35:51):
I don't know enough about him to be shocked about it.
But when you've got your job on the line, you
want to be as hands on as post.
Speaker 6 (36:00):
But if you were hired to be the office of
Guru and you give that up, that's like the first
sign of danger.
Speaker 7 (36:05):
And that's one of the first questions he had that
was posed to him after the game.
Speaker 8 (36:09):
All Right, what are you gonna be doing? Are you
called in the place now?
Speaker 3 (36:11):
Especially when they don't score a touchdown?
Speaker 7 (36:14):
They asked the same question that you said. They hired
you to be an official corner and then we do
give it up to somebody and then he does that,
what were you thinking?
Speaker 4 (36:22):
Just remember he's got the headset on. Yeah, he could
override if he needs.
Speaker 3 (36:27):
To, and his headset is working unlike Mickey's. All right,
we continue in more mix shots in just a moment.
Speaker 5 (36:36):

All right, Brian Schottenheimer having his Wednesday press conference as
we speak right now, and of course he was immediately
asked about your davy On Clowney's visit today, and he
responded with We're always in the business of seeing what's
out there. And by the way, Schottenheimer, when he was
in Seattle in twenty seen Clowney was a member of
(39:23):
the Seahawks.
Speaker 4 (39:24):
One of his one year stays. Oh, by the way,
this came up maybe last week when we were talking
about Javonte Williams. Yes, somebody brought up number thirty three.
Speaker 3 (39:36):
Yes, both okay.
Speaker 4 (39:38):
So they were talking to him yester Monday, and somebody
asked him about the valedictorian thing and he goes, well, yeah,
you know whatever. His grade point was four point six
or something. They said, well, what was your favorite subject?
And he said history? And it's like why history, and
(40:00):
he goes, I don't know. I like working. I had
an uncle that fought in World War Two, and I
like looking that stuff up, so I was probably history
of my favorite subject. So when everybody left, I said, so,
since you're a history buff, do you know who used
to wear number thirty three? And he goes, I absolutely do.
(40:20):
And he goes in by the way, he goes, how
old you think he is right now? And I said, well,
he got drafted in seventy seven, so upper sixties and
getting close to seventies. He goes, yeah, I looked that up.
He was pretty good. So he knew who Tony. Yeah,
he was pretty good. Pretty good To answer your question,
he knew what thirty three on his back.
Speaker 3 (40:40):
Meant try first ballot Hall of Famer kid.
Speaker 4 (40:43):
Yeah, yeah, right, And I told him, I said, you know,
I said, if you ever go back and look at
his highlights. You got reminded of how fast he was,
and not how fast four point whatever, how fast he
got from zero to sixty.
Speaker 8 (41:01):
Yeah, am I right?
Speaker 4 (41:03):
His acceleration was unbelievable.
Speaker 8 (41:05):
Everyone. You look at the film and you see him.
Speaker 7 (41:08):
You know, when he's comes out of a he breaks
the tackle and the other guys are like, okay, we'll
coming to get.
Speaker 8 (41:13):
Him, and no, no, no angle.
Speaker 7 (41:16):
Once he breaks that tackle, he immediately, immediately, immediately takes
away the angle that they had.
Speaker 4 (41:22):
He's like one of those air guns that they shoot
the T shirts into the crowd.
Speaker 8 (41:27):
Yeah, yeah, and he's gone.
Speaker 4 (41:28):
I saw his highlights a couple of years ago and
it reminded me, I go, oh my, look at that.
Speaker 7 (41:34):
And you know, there were games where he wasn't that
glamorous guy. There were games where he just pounded. That's
kind of why he has some of the issues he
has now because at five to nine, this guy had
on on every pad known to man. That's what he
was known for having. None of us wore like shoulder pads.
(41:55):
He had the big shoulder pads. He had the big
thigh pass we hated wharing those. He had, the hip pad.
No one wore the hip pads but him, and he
needed it all because he knew as a small guy,
he was gonna be taking some hits.
Speaker 8 (42:08):
And boy, I've seen him in some of.
Speaker 7 (42:10):
The coldest games ever playing in Philadelphia. Those linebackers cannot
wait to take him out. I mean they are trying
their best. When they catch him, they don't just let
him go to the ground. They would catch him, hold
him up. Here'll come some other guys, and all three
of them were just just twisting pound him on the
ground and he would just get up and he would
(42:32):
fix those hip pads and he walked back to the hubble.
Speaker 8 (42:34):
Next thing you know, he's gone again.
Speaker 6 (42:37):
Remember those days, and guy's carried the ball twenty eight
thirty two times, I mean, had those kind of carriages,
getting stronger with each unbelievable, Like you don't even see
that anymore. We talk about what kid and Williams that
had fifteen carries, fifteen carries, Tony's just getting warmed up
in fifteen, he just gets started.
Speaker 8 (42:58):
Unbelievable.
Speaker 4 (43:00):
Forget that year in eighty six when they signed Herschel
and I think he was late getting the training camp
that year. Dorset was Dorset was in just and somebody.
I think the first question was they asked him because
we were outside the coach's dorm there on the on
the street, the sidewalk, and somebody says, well, how do
(43:22):
you feel about the Herschel Walker? He goes, I feel
like a million dollar man, because that's what Herschel got
paid back then. A million dollars salary was big, right,
that was unheard of it.
Speaker 3 (43:37):
Did you ask Javante if he thinks he can break
the Dorsets record for the longest touchdown run.
Speaker 8 (43:42):
Over break it?
Speaker 4 (43:45):
Break it nine yards and.
Speaker 3 (43:47):
A half, right as Dandy Dunn said it. Okay, we
just got a few minutes left. Wow, we're in the wing.
Speaker 6 (43:56):
I just want to I just want to. I just
want to congratulate you guys at least tackling one topics
that were welcome.
Speaker 2 (44:04):
Man. Yes, we're making progress.
Speaker 4 (44:07):
One see things change from eight o'clock to noon.
Speaker 2 (44:10):
That's fine, that's fine.
Speaker 6 (44:11):
I could have I could didn't have the crystal ball
out today, but walk in.
Speaker 8 (44:16):
No, no, no, But I do you know tomorrow see him?
Speaker 4 (44:19):
If I did see him, I could have been somebody
else there.
Speaker 3 (44:22):
I'll go to I'll go to the number two on
your list.
Speaker 2 (44:24):
Real quick.
Speaker 3 (44:26):
Do you think Jackson Dart will get in the game
on Sunday?
Speaker 6 (44:29):
Mickey already said, hey, just because Wilson starts, don't mean
he will finish.
Speaker 4 (44:33):
There, be prepared.
Speaker 2 (44:39):
Cook it.
Speaker 8 (44:39):
I think our defensive line is gonna bring it.
Speaker 2 (44:43):
You think so? Hey, there was?
Speaker 3 (44:45):
He just went to number three on the list Cowboys
defensive opportunity.
Speaker 8 (44:49):
Wow?
Speaker 2 (44:50):
What a show this?
Speaker 9 (44:57):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (44:57):
Good?
Speaker 8 (44:58):
We can keep going.
Speaker 3 (44:58):
It's more so, Uh, do you think Clowney will get
signed here?
Speaker 4 (45:04):
I don't know, Bill, Why do you see something that?
Speaker 3 (45:08):
No, I'm not.
Speaker 4 (45:10):
He probably got a tweet.
Speaker 8 (45:13):
He's been quiet over there right then he comes up.
Speaker 2 (45:15):
With checking no breaking news, no breaking news yet.
Speaker 4 (45:19):
We're not off the air yet.
Speaker 8 (45:20):
In fact, yeah, that's right.
Speaker 3 (45:21):
As soon as we get off here.
