Look, man, I appreciate you guys, welcome me back, and
we will be outing this.

Speaker 3 (00:53):
I will be sitting here. Hey, listen, that's say double.

Speaker 5 (01:01):
Call him.

Speaker 6 (01:02):
You can't call him salt pepper, poppy school.

Speaker 5 (01:08):
But I can't get down with that.

Speaker 7 (01:11):
You tell that man double dip.

Speaker 2 (01:14):
I am the double destroyed now to show up around here.

Speaker 3 (01:18):
So yeah, you know, you know how double dip is.

Speaker 2 (01:19):
You know, you're a contract with one team, they let
you go still ow your money, and then you saw
with another team and they gotta pay you that new money.
Well that's a good double dipper. Shout out to my boy.
Jerald sits the balls. The ball was double dipp with
extraordinary I learned from Gerald senseiball nobody double dip like
old sense.

Speaker 5 (01:38):
He was gonna get the fun.

Speaker 8 (01:39):
He was sens the ball was gonna get them dollars.
Cowboy like did he go and come back?

Speaker 2 (01:45):
He just was going and going and going like every
year he was double dipping. He was getting the guaranteed both.
You know, you get that minimum to do that day one,
you get that whole minium. Halfway through the going, get
some ball somewhere else. That's that's my dog.

Speaker 8 (01:59):
I had worked the system.

Speaker 2 (02:02):
I would be remissed before we started because the last
time that we were all together.

Speaker 9 (02:06):
The building, I was, I was in the building.

Speaker 2 (02:09):
Last time we were getting uh you knew, and I
were together and the whole crew wasn't here.

Speaker 3 (02:14):
But the whole crew is here now.

Speaker 2 (02:16):
And and I would be remiss if I didn't, you know,
talk about this, because the last time that we were
all here as a group, there was there was there
was there.

Speaker 3 (02:25):
Was a little bitty a small wager. Oh it's it
was a small one. It's a small one.

Speaker 2 (02:38):
And I just want to make sure that we, I
mean we it happened publicly, so I want us to
address the public.

Speaker 5 (02:45):
Yes, please, I didn't.

Speaker 6 (02:46):
It wasn't when I had publicly, when you started, when
you started a group chat, he wasn't here, and you
brought him into the situation.

Speaker 7 (02:55):
That's publicly.

Speaker 8 (02:56):
No, that's public you. I got blamed for this too.
You know.

Speaker 2 (03:04):
I got to bring this up publicly because throughout the
college football season, there were some teams in this universities
that will remain nameless, that were.

Speaker 3 (03:12):
Kind of riding high. And there was some.

Speaker 2 (03:16):
There was some alum that attended these this said university
who was riding just as high as them, and thought
that that university was to remain nameless and that alumni
was to remain nameless.

Speaker 3 (03:31):
Who had the.

Speaker 2 (03:34):
Grandeous ideas about this team winning the national championship. And
I even cut him some bell and I said, you
don't even have to win the national championship.

Speaker 3 (03:44):
All you got to do is get there. We're gonna
get there. I was like, make it light of yourself, Church.
You don't me long. Make it light on you yourself.
You know, you lookself.

Speaker 8 (03:55):
Seemed like a pretty fair guy.

Speaker 3 (03:56):
I'm a fair I'm a fair dude.

Speaker 5 (03:59):
He's not right, So we make a light on yourself.

Speaker 3 (04:03):
Wow, Okay, you know, I'm a man.

Speaker 5 (04:06):
Of good tastes, like to find the things.

Speaker 2 (04:10):
Okay, you know I always tell a church. You know,
if you be a city, you can't hide money, nor
should you. Should they work hard enough for it, nor
should you hide it.

Speaker 3 (04:18):
I'm a man of fine cuisine who would appreciate the
finer delicacies in life. Yes, and so I made a bet. Okay,
I want to say a bet we friendly waged and
that if this said team that will remain nameless to

(04:39):
this alumni who remain nameless, if their team even made
it to the semi finals, then I.

Speaker 5 (04:44):
Oh, the semi you had to win it.

Speaker 3 (04:46):
You got I'm sorry, to the finals. You gotta just
get there. To the finals.

Speaker 5 (04:51):
Y didn't get there.

Speaker 3 (04:52):
Anybody didn't make a difference. Let's get to the game.
You didn't have to win it.

Speaker 2 (04:56):
That I will take some of the double dipping money
that I make and wherever it is.

Speaker 3 (05:03):
Your heart desires, will go and have dinner.

Speaker 8 (05:06):
You can have every.

Speaker 2 (05:07):
Lie I said, only only that I don't pay for
it because I don't I don't partake in it is alcohol.

Speaker 3 (05:15):
But you can eat to your eat your weight and whatever.

Speaker 9 (05:19):
Shrimp fish, steak, crash lost oysters.

Speaker 3 (05:25):
Oysters, and he said we'll make the bag. I should
say last, and I put my hand out, and when
I put my hand out, I reached my hand out.
And when I reached my hand out.

Speaker 6 (05:44):
He said, enough enough, past the ball, past the ball.
I appreciate y'all going to the wide angle. That's as
salt of hr hr. He came across the table on me.
I'm not having hand This is bullying. This is bullying.

Speaker 5 (05:59):
And then off, this is look a game.

Speaker 7 (06:02):
It was a good it was a great game.

Speaker 3 (06:05):
Only did they lose.

Speaker 7 (06:06):
Put the name on us.

Speaker 9 (06:08):
A CC team and a c C team and a
team Atlantic Coast come c C team. You know what
I'm saying something I'm familiar with with that kind of
game of the game.

Speaker 7 (06:21):
Game is the a CC team gonna make it to
the championship?

Speaker 3 (06:23):
Hey, I don't know.

Speaker 8 (06:24):
We're gonna be the same place your school.

Speaker 6 (06:26):
So here's no, there's not y'all wasn't in the playoffs.
But you're right, we are somewhat in the because you're not.
You know, you want you wanted to bring your school
in that quick, just like you and that he.

Speaker 7 (06:37):
Made that bet.

Speaker 6 (06:38):
You said, why don't y'all bet because you took new
his job with doing that. But there was a lot
of bowl games that were going on this weekend, so
let's go ahead and do this. I ain't the only
one that Toledo. Did y'all lose?

Speaker 7 (06:50):
Okay? Did y'all lose? Okay? So guess what nobody get
out of here.

Speaker 8 (06:55):
I'm the only person that made expect here's.

Speaker 3 (06:57):
What I'm gonna do. Here's what I'm gonna do. Here's
what I'm gonna do. I'm a good god, I'm a
nice man.

Speaker 2 (07:04):
I'm a nice dude. I'm a nice dude. I'm gonna
make it even easier on to some bail because, yeah,
because I would. I was gonna eat my weight, I
will eat my way. I'll gonna get seafood towers.

Speaker 8 (07:22):
I was getting what you mean, you were going get

going to allow you that if you make a charitable
donation to my chie Holly's Helping Hands.

Speaker 3 (07:43):

Speaker 5 (07:49):
That's that's all of the branch. Now now listen.

Speaker 9 (07:51):
Now, today's date is a weight knife at least a
weight on there.

Speaker 2 (08:00):
Wow, I need this, I need I need that. Charable
nation done in five business days and five take that.

Speaker 7 (08:08):
I take that.

Speaker 2 (08:13):
I'm letting you ask the hook one hundred and three
dollars donation to my charity of Holly's Helping Hands.

Speaker 3 (08:18):
I appreciate that in the next five business days. Today
is Monday.

Speaker 7 (08:21):

Speaker 3 (08:22):
I will send you the links.

Speaker 9 (08:24):
And.

Speaker 3 (08:26):
I'll let you off the hook. All right, all right,
let's get to this stand minutes here. Man, Yeah, gives.
I'm in the give. I guess so I'm in the
given spirit. You know, I'm in the giving.

Speaker 2 (08:40):
But sometimes you got to let the young people know.
Sometimes you can say, hey, now, don't do that. Don't
don't do see see see.

Speaker 3 (08:50):
That I forgot you.

Speaker 5 (08:51):
That's what that.

Speaker 3 (08:52):
Same energy is what got you in set the last time.

Speaker 5 (08:55):
I can't believe what's going on.

Speaker 3 (08:56):
You know what I'm saying.

Speaker 5 (08:57):
I believe it.

Speaker 6 (08:59):
What happened this weekend, you know, scoring that game this weekend.

Speaker 8 (09:04):
I don't know, but we scored more against Miami than
y'all did.

Speaker 7 (09:07):
But playoff, right, it doesn't matter. You shouldn't have been there.

Speaker 2 (09:12):
The Cowboys took on and defeated the Washington Commanders. Over
this weekend, a lot of talk about you know, who
should have played, who shouldn't have played.

Speaker 3 (09:24):
I do want to start here and have.

Speaker 2 (09:26):
This conversation of over the last two weeks, the Cowboys
have deployed Tyler Smith as their left tackle, and you
saw the Cowboys offensive line gave up six sacks in
that game. Dak Prescott was hit eleven times.

Speaker 3 (09:45):
It's getting worked up.

Speaker 2 (09:48):
Is this something that you guys look at. I don't
know if you had the conversation here or not beforehand.
Is this something that you look at you're saying, I
like this move for the future, or.

Speaker 9 (09:58):
Get my boy back to being in a guard spot,
solidify that interior part of your offensive line. In my opinion,
every quarterback I've talked to over the years I've played
and since coming over here and doing this media stuff,
all the quarterbacks say they hate pressure up the gut,
up the middle, like because you can't step up in
the pocket, you know, get you off your mark.

Speaker 5 (10:19):
They can handle that edge pressure.

Speaker 9 (10:21):
They can handle some guys coming off the edge and getting
pressure because you can chip those guys, you can you
can move up in the pocket. You can you can
maneuver all that good stuff and kind of get away
from those guys. But when you got pressure straight up
the gut, it's kind of hard to do your job,
especially passing the football. So for me, solidify that interior spot.
Tyler Smith is one of the best guards in the
entire National Football League. I mean it, hands down, he's

(10:41):
one of the best guards. Let that man play that position.
Let him go out there and dominate at that guard position.
You got BB at the center, He's a working progress.
He's gonna get better and better as as things go on.
You got the young rookie on the other side, Booker.
Solidify that interior spot now, just you need some help,
you know, steal, you need some help out there, and
that's something that the off season will bring. You can

(11:02):
maybe bring some guys into competing all that good stuff,
but for me, put them back in at the guard spot.
Solidify that interior spot for the next foreseeable future. That
got his you know, everything going in the front ways
ahead of him. So for me, leave him are at
that guard, let him do what he does best, and
then you can find a way to get that tackle
spot situated.

Speaker 6 (11:22):
Oh, for me, I'm going exactly what you said before.
Another reason. I'm gonna give you an example. I can't
help but think of Lee Collins when he was here.
That was I mean Collins Collins, big seventy one, mister
LSU like you. He was a phenomenal player within his
own regards, but when it came time, they kind of

(11:44):
they put more on them than what was supposed to
be there. Like if that makes sense, like, oh, he
can play this, but we're forcing him to play tackle.

Speaker 10 (11:51):
Now.

Speaker 7 (11:52):
Was he good?

Speaker 6 (11:53):
I mean, he was serviceable, even about right, but he
was an even better guard. Everybody always said, you have
the power, you're having the impact, Like sit the end
of the season, you're not making it to the playoffs.
I get you trying to throw it out there to say, hey,
maybe going into the draft, if he can handle playing tackle,
maybe we can go draft somebody into here. But where
he's made his money. Yet, what you paid him to do,
That's what you paid him to do, is to be

(12:14):
that guard. Go let him solidify that spot and be
that new Zach Martin or be the new guy in
himself and be the catalyst of this office line versus
playing musical chairs and now you're doing the disservice. You
what it ain't broke, don't fix it. And what they
say sometimes coaches out coast yourself, Well I look at
this as one of those times you out coast yourself

(12:35):
by putting that man out there, and now all of
a sudden you have six sacks. That was the most
sacks that this old line has given up in a
game this year.

Speaker 7 (12:42):
Like, you did yourself such a.

Speaker 6 (12:45):
Disservice, and it was, it was. It was a little
horrendous watching. So hopefully that won't happen this game. And
if we're being honest, sit him, rest him for the
rest of this year, Rest for for the rest of
this year. Stop playing music with chairs, and let's see
what these young guys.

Speaker 8 (12:59):
Hey, I mean, I'm not going to be the dead horse.
What you guys are saying is one hundred percent correct
in my eyes. You definitely want to solidify that offensive line.
Cowboys have been known, you know, over the past several
years ago when they were successful as having the best
offensive line and that money could buy or that was
in the league at that time, you know what I mean.
So that was one of the one of the least
words that was going on between the old line and

(13:22):
the run game. And you have of course Troy, Mike
and everybody else, but it all started up front, you
know what I mean. And it's just like so coincidental
at the same time that the edges on the offense
and the edges of the defense won't have the same problems,
you know what I mean. But I agree with both.
You guys said, yeah, let's solidify that offensive line. Make
sure Dak is secure back there because the football that

(13:44):
he played this past year, you hope that you have
several more years of that to come from him.

Speaker 2 (13:48):
All Right, we'll take our first break of the show
when we come back. You mentioned something, Anthony. I think
it's a conversation because it's is a player loud. This
is all former player that have played this game before.
And you get to the point in time the season
where you are not going to the playoffs, But.

Speaker 3 (14:03):
Do you want to sit? Who should the Cowboys sit?
And if you were in those spots, would you want
to be set down? You don't want to get this
players lounge right there. You want to get you know,
you can't get this on no other show but this one.

Speaker 5 (14:16):
That's true.

Speaker 2 (14:17):
That's it, right, here, So stay right here. We'll get
the answer to all those questions when we come back.
This is the players Lounge.

Barry Church, Demon Trait Moore, Anthony Dorset, and Jesse Howy.

Speaker 3 (16:47):
And like I said before we went to break, Anthony.

Speaker 2 (16:50):
Brought up about the Cowboys should think about considering sitting
some players. I want to have the conversation because there's
no other show on any network, uh that can give
you the level of perspective that you're going to get
here with three former NFL players that suited up in

(17:11):
this game. And so the question is who should you sit?
And then the other question is if you were in
that position, would you want to be set? There's no playoffs,
it's the last game of the year. Would you want
to come off the field. And since you brought the
question up, bring it up? Yeah, you brought it up.

Speaker 3 (17:34):
Brought up with you.

Speaker 2 (17:37):
The Cowboys have one game less against the New York
Football guys this Sunday at twelve noon at MetLife in
New Jersey.

Speaker 3 (17:45):
Hey, I'm from Jersey.

Speaker 2 (17:47):
Don't don't do that, Jersey last game of the year,
you the creed.

Speaker 3 (17:56):
But but but who should the Cowboys sit?

Speaker 9 (18:00):
I'll go around with that one first, and then I'll
go around with offense and then defense.

Speaker 8 (18:04):
Okay, so when I look at the offense structurally, I'm
only seeing one person that I'm naturally gonna sit immediately,
and that's gonna be number four. All right, I'm gonna
protect dk Okay from there, I might sit my run.
I might sit Williams, the running back. I mean, he's
had a solid year. He's rushed over a thousand yards.
He's shown that he's actually capable of being that guy,

(18:27):
you know, and so behind him, we haven't seen, you know,
basically a lot that's there to back him up. If
there's gonna be somebody from the team this year, they're
gonna go out there and find somebody else. But as
I look at those two and then you know, you
got two thousand yard receivers that have both gone out
there and played their brains out this year, and so

(18:48):
there's some question about the you know, a few guys
behind them too as well.

Speaker 7 (18:51):
You know.

Speaker 8 (18:52):
So with that Dak of course number one, I said,
the running back, maybe the two receivers, and that may
be it for me looking at it structurally on offense, Now,
would I sit all them dudes? Probably couldn't do it,
because we need to have some type of leadership out
there period, regardless so somebody's gonna have to play out
of those four, but the quarterback would probably be the

(19:13):
least one, the last one that I put out there.
Now looking at the defense side of the ball, it's
hard to say. You know, we got Quinnen in here, okay,
so you know he's set to be here for another year.
I think Kenny's in the contract too as well, right os, Okay,
so you got forty two, you got Clowney who signed

(19:34):
I guess right, and then everybody else really seems like
to me they auditioning for a job. So with that
being said, you know, I'm gonna look at Quinn, I'm
gonnaok at Kenny. I'm gonna see how they're feeling, you know,
as far as with their health wise. You know, if
they got anything it's banged up, nicked up, bruises or
anything like that, and it's you know, limiting them in

(19:57):
any type of way. I'm gonna go ahead and chill
them out, you know what I'm saying. But everybody else,
everybody else, we got to go. We got to play.
So that's that's, that's that's and you see most of
my guys are coming from the offense side, uh like.

Speaker 6 (20:13):
I said on the Loser team. Man, it's like that
pay Less Special logo. Everything must go. So with that
being said, ain't nobody in their own respectives have earnything right?

Speaker 7 (20:23):
Like it's a you can't even say a handful.

Speaker 6 (20:27):
So the people that I'm gonna sit, I'm sitting for
absolutely your quarterback in years prior. He's shown you that
he's gonna go out there, and you some guys you
gotta save from themselves when he's out there, he's going obviously,
we've seen it this last week, So sit him, saving
from himself. George Pickens your top three and uh in
categories everything, Receiver, you've done it already.

Speaker 7 (20:48):
I want to sit you already. So Loki, we can be.

Speaker 6 (20:50):
Sitting over here, rubbing elbows and you know, figuring out
what we're gonna do going into this next year. Javonte,
I might sit I might sit him. I'm gonna talk
to him and see, but I just might sit him.
And the only reason I'm gonna sit him so I
could see those other two young guys don't really just
go out there because I'm gonna tell y'all like this,
we're going out here and we're drafting this offseason. After that,
there's nobody else. I mean, Tyler Smith. I would only

(21:14):
reason I would say sit him is because what you're
doing right now and putting them at tackles. You got
that man out there on the edge of stuff like that,
give him an injury or something like that. That's your
best offensive alignment. But after that, CD, Yeah, you're a
thousand yard receiver, but you had a lot of drops
and key moments this year. So guess what I need
you to be out there? Like you said, we need
veteran leadership. As far as that defense, the only person

(21:37):
that needs to sit is Quentin Williams.

Speaker 7 (21:40):
Quentin Williams, but.

Speaker 6 (21:41):
I could tell you right now the type of player
that he is, he's probably not gonna want to fit.
He's like, hey, I just got here. We need to
establish ourselves going into next year. But after that, nobody else. Clowney,
you're on a one year deal. If this is if
for you, then hey, you're out of here. Like you
got to go out here and prove it this last game, Digs,
you just came back out here. You got to prove it.
Blame you're on ir. That was the only person that

(22:02):
you have guaranteed money, and so with the rest of
these guys, like I need it from all y'all. Kenny Clark,
but like I said, you have some injuries this year,
two big fellas, So I kind of want to see
you out there. And I need a defensive calalyus. When
it's only been one d tackle out here, this defense
has not been good. But if I can go out
there with Osa and Kenny and say, hey, we already

(22:23):
know what we got in this guy. We want to
see y'all get back into the mix. When he first
got here, I'm throwing him out there. But after that, bruh,
everybody else y'all might not be here at the end
of the year.

Speaker 7 (22:33):
So, and to get back to.

Speaker 6 (22:34):
Your very last question, because you asked all of us
if we were in that position and the coach came
to us and told us to sit. Because I've had it.
When I was a young guy, I hated it. Every
time I was a player. I wanted to be out
there at all costs. But now that I know that
I'm being a vet and stuff like that, sometimes you
got to be protected from yourself. In four is one
of those guys that's gonna bed coach to probably still
get out there.

Speaker 7 (22:55):
So that's the only one.

Speaker 6 (22:56):
But after that, everybody else, get your butty out there
and earn your job.

Speaker 5 (23:00):
I'm gonna make a three for three.

Speaker 9 (23:00):
Would when you guys talk about Dak, you know, of
course he's gonna want to go out there. He's gonna
want to be, you know, the leader of the team
and all that good stuff that he's been doing. You
kind of gotta save them from himself. So not only that,
I want to see what you know, your man Bazooka
Joe got. If he can go out there and you know,
orchestrate some offense, be productive, at least you see that
momentum going forward. So you're saying, okay, you know, maybe
we don't have to spend a third, fourth, you know,

(23:22):
fifth round draft pick on bringing a quarterback in here.
So I'm definitely sitting back out there when it comes
to the offensive side of the ball, you know, CD George,
just so you can get the mingos and you can
get the you know, the turps and those guys a
lot of valuable reps out there. So I'm sitting those
two wide outs and then I'm sitting Ferg as well,
not because you know, he's just his high prolific tight

(23:44):
end or anything like that. But I want to see
what I got out of Breven span Ford and Schoolmaker. Now,
I want to see if they can go out there
and be productive in the blocking game as well as
you know, catching passes out there. I want to I
want to give them a full game to just go
out there and see what y'all got out there. So
I'm sitting those two on the defensive side of the ball. Man,
everybody gotta play the outside of Quinn. Everybody got to

(24:05):
go out there and get reps. And on the second
level with those linebackers, I'm not sitting them because you know,
I want to get y'all rested up for next season.

Speaker 5 (24:13):
Man, More than luckily, y'all gonna be gone.

Speaker 9 (24:14):
So I want to see what I got in my
young linebackers, the chamar James, the Mayoras.

Speaker 5 (24:19):
Lee of Foules of the world.

Speaker 9 (24:20):
I want to see what those guys can go out
there and do when they're the catalyst. There are the
guys the quarterbacks of the defense making all the calls,
the checks, running sideline and sideline, all that good stuff.
So I want to see what my young dogs got
out there. And then the secondary. Everybody got to play
because the secondary has been it's been atrocious pretty much
all season long. No communication, no stability, no you know,
technique out there. It's been a pretty bad displayed secondary wise.

(24:42):
So I think everybody's auditioning for a job on the
defensive side of the football outside of a couple of
defensive linemen. But those are the guys I would sit,
you know, especially on the defensive side.

Speaker 6 (24:51):
What about you, Yeah, because you said because you made
the mistake early and said three former players it's for
this week.

Speaker 7 (24:56):
We got mister Holly so as a former player, So
that's what you got.

Speaker 2 (25:01):
Nobody sits none of y'all earned the shit. Nobody really,
it's six eight and one. There's seven eight and one.
Excuse me, right, nobody earned the shit. Nobody, George, Nobody,
nobody is.

Speaker 7 (25:18):
It's not it? Is it?

Speaker 8 (25:19):
Is it that you earned that right? Or is it
about more or less? Like at the same time, being
like you got it as an organization and being smart,
like we understand like you should have.

Speaker 2 (25:30):
Been smart three the games ago because you had a
playoff two games ago.

Speaker 3 (25:34):
So what's the difference. Yeah, you were you were out,
you were out. The Saturday before.

Speaker 5 (25:42):
Chargers game.

Speaker 3 (25:44):
No Charger. You you found out Philly one Saturday.

Speaker 2 (25:46):
You played the Chargers on Sunday, and then you came
back and played on Thursday. So you knew Saturday night
that you were out and you started doing them, backing
them on Sunday. You followed them back up and played
them again on Thursday. So don't tell me about being smart,
because you knew Saturday night that you were mathematically mathematically.

Speaker 3 (26:06):
Eliminated from the playoffs. So you could have you could
have said four you're done.

Speaker 2 (26:12):
That's true, but you still not, maybe because you wanted
to give uh, what was that game that.

Speaker 5 (26:18):
Does that home game charge?

Speaker 2 (26:20):
So maybe you want to give you if you want
to give your fans a home game, what that was
respectable with your quarterback? And then I said this before
you know you got I got relationship with Netflix, so
I gotta make sure I give them Netflix my my best.

Speaker 7 (26:32):
Right.

Speaker 8 (26:32):
Hey that's fact though from now, from from a business
standpoint of being around you guys this this season here
and being in here, being a part of this podcast
and just learning how like this whole thing works around here.
If if you let the people know, like three games ago,
two games ago that the number four ain't playing and

(26:55):
they basically like regardless of the situation, have packed it in.
So to say, more so anything, there's not gonna be
a lot of people in those stands, you know what
I mean? And from from what I hear about Jerry
Jones is that that's that's that's that's that's the one
thing that he does not want to tolerate, you see.

Speaker 3 (27:17):
So so so.

Speaker 2 (27:19):
What at what point in time is the business more like?
Because the business is important, it is the most important thing.
Was it not important those last two weeks? I mean,
was that not important enough? Those last two weeks? Does
business not count this Sunday?

Speaker 8 (27:32):
Oh, they'll tell you. I said rest number four a
long time ago.

Speaker 3 (27:40):
My thing is is that this is why one nobody's
earned the right to sit play everybody.

Speaker 2 (27:46):
And if you're worried about somebody being hurt nothing to
play for, well, you have two other games prior to
this that that was, you know, do me a favor.
I don't need to see Joka.

Speaker 7 (27:55):
Joe what for what? Because you like.

Speaker 2 (27:59):
There there's nothing that Joe's showed me on Sunday that
I don't know about him.

Speaker 3 (28:04):
Zuker I've had. I've had, there's there's that.

Speaker 8 (28:09):
You're very true and saying that.

Speaker 2 (28:11):
I've had and this is not this is not a
This is not a Joe Milton shade. This I've had
Joe Milton. Who else y'all say I've had. I've had
school Maker for a couple of years. I had bred
It for for a couple of years. Anybody, defensively, I
probably had around here for a couple of years. One
game for me is not gonna show me enough to
be like, oh, by the way you look, you did

(28:32):
so good in that last game. I think that you
should be No, I've had you since the spring. If
I'm a talent evaluator, I don't need nineteen months to
tell me who you are.

Speaker 3 (28:45):
Either you have it or you don't. Either you're a.

Speaker 2 (28:48):
Part of our future or you're not. One game is
not gonna change that this season.

Speaker 8 (28:53):
So how do you show And this is a question
for everybody in here, then like, how are you when
you have a backup quarterback in this situation? How are
you able to gauge his development throughout the season.

Speaker 9 (29:02):
I watch him if he's actually I watch him in practice, Okay,
watch him be reps going practice.

Speaker 3 (29:09):
You run a scout team. What does that look like?

Speaker 5 (29:12):
What is it telling you?

Speaker 14 (29:12):
Like?

Speaker 5 (29:13):
You hit this guy right here?

Speaker 3 (29:14):
What is that? Can you do that?

Speaker 9 (29:17):
Yeah? But you know are you you judging well? Are
you seeing the progressions?

Speaker 5 (29:21):
If you on that?

Speaker 3 (29:22):
All right, we all know how practice go.

Speaker 2 (29:23):
Right, there's there's so every So for those of you
who don't know, every practice has a practice playing right,
and you have periods on Monday, you might do something
on Wednesdays when you kind of do your big install.
You have third down, you have nine on seven, you
have seven on seven, you have team periods right Thursdays
you may do some Thursday and Friday you may do
some third down. Friday may do some red zone. However,
all that stuff plays out. Every single practice period has

(29:45):
anywhere from twelve to fifteen plays in the practice period
scripted right, So defense know what we're gonna run this
play offen tho, We're gonna run this play your first team.
If it's fifteen plays, your first team gonna get about
twelve live to twelve of them, right, and then your
backups gonna get the tail half. So Joe gets the
tail half right about two three, maybe four, depending on

(30:07):
how particular players, right, and now it is out of ten,
those three or four that he got, it's probably a
repeat of all the ones that the first team already
ran in those first twelve, Right, So I got seventeen
weeks of watching him get those backup reps. One game
is not gonna determine whether or not he got it
or not.

Speaker 7 (30:28):
It won't tell, It won't just throw some growth.

Speaker 3 (30:31):
Man, I kind of you said, you said momentum. You
think folks worried about momentum.

Speaker 5 (30:36):
When right, it ain't. Nobody worried about nobody can b.

Speaker 3 (30:39):
Man man January fifth, I remember Jack when we in April.

Speaker 2 (30:44):
Nobody nobody's carry that momentum into April.

Speaker 9 (30:47):
But if he would be balls and goes crazy, and
what if he does all for his sake, Let's say
he goes out, balls out and does what are you
thinking They're gonna be like that third round quarterback that
we were thinking about.

Speaker 3 (30:57):
You see what Joe did that last game.

Speaker 2 (31:00):
Game One game is going to negate everything that I've seen,
And that's that's a problem. If one game changes what
I've seen the last nine months of a player, we
have a problem.

Speaker 3 (31:09):
But we have a huge problem.

Speaker 8 (31:11):
Structuring, and you're saying you're done with Joe.

Speaker 2 (31:13):
No, no, I'm not saying I'm done with Joe. I'm saying
I don't need him to go out there and play
to show me anything. He gonna be a backup or
he's not gonna be our backup. And he develops in
the offseason, He develops in the OTAs he develops in
the mini cams, he develops in no spaces, and then
those times is when he earns himself an opportunity to
get more reps.

Speaker 3 (31:30):
He got every damn repping preseason. So what did you
want what he got reps in training?

Speaker 6 (31:36):
Can I'm gonna be real with you, I could Joe Milton.

Speaker 7 (31:42):
It's not a Joe Milton.

Speaker 2 (31:42):
Saying go for meing I don't need to see what
Mingo has. I know what Jenal Tober does, I know
what all these guys have.

Speaker 6 (31:47):
I don't need to see Miingo. I do need to
see a little bit more out of Tober and these
other guys, But tob for hre for four you have.
But the difference is with Tober and those other guys.
The reason I don't need to see them as much
is because they actually had opportunity. They've actually been out
there as much as we sit here and say, yes,
we've seen these reps in practice. As a defensive player,

(32:08):
I know I can't get close to that quarterback like
what they say we got, We got the guys that
are seven on seven guys like seeing those reps, like
as a quarterback to know that somebody can't come over
there and pass rush you from blind side and tip
the ball out your hand, but you can make that
throw or you can do this and that, like, yeah,
I might have seen something and maybe this goes to
show you like they've seen what they needed to see

(32:29):
to not throw him out there or whatever the case
may be. But he got to get out there. The
Giants guess what they went out there with. They starting
d line and they letting them go. You got Brian Burns,
a dual carter, sexy DEXI out there, like I want
to see Joe Milton go against the starters like they're
still out there shooting right now.

Speaker 7 (32:48):
They got live bullets.

Speaker 6 (32:49):
Well with those live bullets, guess what, how can I
really just pass off Joe without seeing live bullets in
his face? And like you said, it's not even just
so much about Joe. It's about these other guys. I
know Joe's gonna go out here and try to put
on a clinic to where, hey, we gonna see him
live by the sword and die by the sword. Some
guys aren't that good in practice, but when you see

(33:10):
him and they be like, yo, this guy is a gamer.
Like he doesn't run to the ball all the time
in practice because he knew all season he wasn't gonna play.
But now that he know he's getting his live reps,
it might be a little up. And so I'm with
you when you said Barry, because I want to see
him out there because with all these picks, let's the
Cowboys aren't one player away. Well, now, guess what, now

(33:30):
that I know I got a quality backup in dak.

Speaker 7 (33:33):
I'm gonna I'm not gonna draft a Q be that high.

Speaker 6 (33:36):
If I know that, Hey, my receiving core is gonna
be completely intact. Guess what we're throwing the kitchen sink
at defense right now. So for some of these guys,
I do want you all to get out there and
do that. I want you to go, Hey, you know
what it is they if you've been here for four
years and you ain't get your reps during the year
and all that stuff. You know right now that hey,

(33:56):
I'm only getting these reps because this is the Cinderella
is coming home at twelve o'clock. The glass slipper is
falling for some people. And right now, I want to
know what we got in Illinoid. I want to know
if you're really consistent and you're that guy pulling up
like a Cole Beasley, like that guy that's going to
be serviceable, that end up growing into a star. Out

(34:16):
of these guys. We don't have that many people on
the squad.

Speaker 2 (34:18):
All right, let's take our second break of the show.
When we come back, I have a question. You cannot
choose both. You cannot choose both.

Speaker 3 (34:29):
Do you want to.

Speaker 2 (34:32):
Sign George Pickens or go get a premiere pass rusher
who name would be left nameless coming up right after
this brick would be.

Speaker 3 (34:44):
Right back to just players.

More Barry Church.

Speaker 2 (37:05):
It's a great conversation on and off air that we're
having today. They're loving it in the chat. We appreciate
you all for listening. I hope that you all had
a very merry Christmas, and we'll be here through the
rest of the week. We won't be here at the
end of the week. So our preudence, you all have
a very happy New Year. I'll keep wishing that as
we get too closer to that. But the teams that

(37:27):
I had before we went into break was you got
one of two options, and both it's not an option.

Speaker 3 (37:37):
Okay. The Cowboys have many needs on this football team.

Speaker 2 (37:44):
They're face with the dilemma. They are faced with the
opportunity to say, hey, we can go sign a dude
who made the Pro Bowl this year, who's had his
best statistical year in his career, in George Pickens. We
know that the front office is all about the pie,

(38:05):
saving the pie, dividing the pie, cutting the pie the
way it's supposed to.

Speaker 6 (38:09):
Be, cutting what type of pies y'all got over the.

Speaker 3 (38:15):
Listen about five miles we're gonna said about the question
on the table is do you sign?

Speaker 2 (38:33):
Do you take the money and you sign George Pickens?
Or do you take the money and maybe some pigs
and you go when you try to get a premiere
pass rusher that may be that may come available in
this off season, we will keep the name name, we

(38:59):
will keep the nameless. You can't pick both, which one
of the two Battery Church will start.

Speaker 7 (39:06):
You open on me.

Speaker 9 (39:07):
Yeah, I one hundred and fifty thousand percent this one,
and I think this is only one right answer on
this one. But you go get the premier pass rusher.
You go get the guy that can affect the most
important position on the football field each and every down,

(39:28):
and that's a premier pass rusher. You've had the top
tandem in the National Football League wide receiver wise, in
my opinion, this year, and you've gotten what seven eight
and one, seven eight one? All right, that's not gonna
cut it. We've seen what this defense is lacking, and
that's helping the secondary and getting after the quarterback. I mean,

(39:48):
this defense allowed Russell Wilson to turn the clock back
and throw for four hundred and fifty yards. They allowed
a team in Arizona who's been the laughing.

Speaker 2 (39:56):
Shot, Kobe Burssett of the of the league coming here
in in Dice a month.

Speaker 9 (40:01):
We've seen JJ McCarthy come into this building, the Mantres.

Speaker 5 (40:06):
Board, first round pick, come into this.

Speaker 9 (40:08):
Building, struggled all year long, came in here and was
grittying into the end zone.

Speaker 5 (40:14):
We've seen that.

Speaker 9 (40:16):
To me, this defense and this team overall needs somebody
that can affect the passer, and so me, the bigger
impact would be getting that pass rusher helping your defensive
side of the football, because offensively, even if you don't
bring George back, you still got a CD Lamb, you
still got Dak Prescott out there. And we've seen even
when CD Lamb was missing, you had that one high
powered offensive weapon in George Pickens. The offense was still

(40:38):
putting up great numbers. So I don't think you definitely
need two number one receivers out there, but you need
a pass rusher one hundred percent, and if you want
to win games in the National Football League, so give
me the pass rusher.

Speaker 5 (40:50):
I'm glad you went first.

Speaker 7 (40:51):
So people didn't say I was biased, but.

Speaker 6 (40:53):
You you you go get your most important position. But
just like when you're playing a pickup game back in
the day, then you'd be like, it is my number
one draft pick, and everybody knew it was like, okay,
well go get him. I already got my one A
and one B. Well, one A on that offensive side
is your quarterback, and then on the defensive side. Back
in the day, it used to be middle linebackers, Ray
Lewis's and guys like that. But in this last fifteen

(41:15):
to twenty years, it's been the evolution of the pass rush,
the guy, like you said, they can affect them the most.
And for years prior when Cowboys did have somebody that
was that guy, guess what, they were always still in
the mix. And like you said, they had a good
one A and one B tandem this year. Now granted
they all wasn't just firing on cylinders, but you were

(41:37):
still in the mix with the Michael Parsons here, you
were still in playoff contention. You were still like, hey,
just get to the dance. They're gonna do that. DAK
and CD will do that. So for me, I'm gonna
go get that pass rusher every time, because not even
just thinking about now, if we're saying George Pickens and
when we say pass rusher, I'm not talking about a

(41:58):
drop off. If it's the elite, the Krim Dela Krim, like,
we're talking about that guy that's proven and stuff like
that pass rusher all day now, if it is a
subpart pass rusher, I'm gonna go ahead and go get
George like and when I say subpart, I'm not talking
about we know those guys that can be the guy
that you throw in and he changes any defense. And
then we got those guys where you'd be like, man,

(42:20):
he was really good over here, but that was because
the scheme, That was because.

Speaker 7 (42:23):
Of his environment.

Speaker 6 (42:24):
But when you put them over here, you still don't
have that same production. And I feel like the Cowboys
in years past, they haven't just went in and got
that pass rusher like that. Every pass rusher they got
was coming off of being a shell of their self
or and even then they wasn't the guy in the league,
like top five guys. So if it's top five, get
you your pass rusher, you can go find somebody that's

(42:45):
an undrafted free agent or a young guy. These receivers
pop out all the time, just like running back studs,
but pass rushers don't.

Speaker 8 (42:52):
I'm right there with y'all, man, I'm going to pass rusher,
you know, and we know and everybody out there who
never heard this turned before. But like at practice, we
got this thing and we'll be like ruin the drill.
And if you basically got a dude that can ruin
the drill on any snap that he wants to, you
know what I mean, And that's such a benefit to
the defense. But structurally, if you look at it, now

(43:13):
you got two dudes who can bring pressure up front. Okay,
so you keep those guys right where they are, and
now you bring in that that as you say that
Krim Dela Krim, that that top d lineman, that top
pass rusher in the league. I mean, you've totally changed
this defense. Even if you don't go out and get
some great secondary, you've already with the pressure that's there.
You could have some average dudes back there, hopefully some

(43:34):
serviceable guys, but like you definitely go and lock up
that pass that that number one pass rush guy and
and keep it rolling from there and see what turns out.
But I'm with y'all defense Championships. Yes, sir, offensive guy.

Speaker 2 (43:50):
What would you do as a former receiver as the
offensive guy, I'm going to get the pass rusher too,
and and and here's why. And the reason being is
I've seen this offense under Dak Prescott, under Jason Garrett,
under Michael McCarthy be top five offenses with CD and them, right,

(44:15):
I've seen this thing still function and be number one
in scoring, Dak being runner up in the MVP votings
with CD in them, CD CD and a bunch of babies,
you know what I'm saying. So that tells me that

(44:35):
And this is no shade or discredit to George. I
think George is phenomenal. Would love to have them.

Speaker 3 (44:41):
The the thing is is that if you go get
me another receiver who I mean, can who's got experienced
in this league?

Speaker 2 (44:52):
A free agent vet. I think the train keeps moving.
The train keeps moving, and you can still have a
prolific offense. And what you do you can't get after
the quarterback. This this league is a passing league. And
when you look at what you have to come up
against like in the future, you better being good the quarterback.

(45:15):
You better being with the quarterback. That that is the
name of the game. The name of the game is
to have a quarterback and have someone to go get
the quarterback.

Speaker 3 (45:25):
That is the name of the game. Because if you
don't have either one of those, the likelihood of you
making a serious run.

Speaker 9 (45:33):
Can you even name like a playoff team this year
that quarterback is just buns or just you know, just serviceable.

Speaker 5 (45:41):
Off the top of my head, I can't really in
the playoffs, That's what I'm saying.

Speaker 9 (45:46):
You got you know, NFC loaded. You know you got
everybody Stafford Party, Donald, I mean hurts Caleb. Caleb that
hurts By might not one booboo juice that is of
the crew. But again, he has one roster. He has
a roster that is elite. His roster is insane.

Speaker 8 (46:10):
So you could be there and they've done it.

Speaker 5 (46:13):
What about and they've done it?

Speaker 8 (46:14):
And they've done it Texans.

Speaker 3 (46:17):
I don't think he is bunn.

Speaker 7 (46:18):
Yeah he's not buns, but he is decent.

Speaker 3 (46:21):
He's a good player. And they got the number one
defensive they got you said, you said not having one?
They got they got pass rushers.

Speaker 7 (46:28):
Oh you're talking about he said, either.

Speaker 2 (46:30):
Or like not having a like who don't have a
pass rusher or a quarterback like you gotta have.

Speaker 9 (46:35):
He wanted to to make it. I'm off the top
of my head, that might be wrong. Off the top
of my head, I can't really they could not charges
you heard he's a good quarterback, but he.

Speaker 7 (46:46):
Got pass rushers.

Speaker 5 (46:47):
Yeah he got you got that, you got, you got
the mac attack, you.

Speaker 6 (46:51):
Got, you got, you got saying friend, I mean they
lost their best pass rusher, And I mean some people
aren't sold on party. I like Party like even do ball,
but got a rush, they got a pass rusher, but
they got cool on. They got Goldie locks down there.
So there hasn't been no subpar quarterbacks.

Speaker 5 (47:13):
Like remember Rex Grossman back he like he.

Speaker 8 (47:18):
Bowl, y'all gotta remember, was like Trent, Trent.

Speaker 3 (47:22):
Deal for with the race, depend on the best defense
in modern.

Speaker 8 (47:26):
Okay, Brad Johnson the same thing. And I'm speaking on
them because the two Super Bowls. You know what I'm saying,
It wasn't worried too much worried about the quarterbacks.

Speaker 2 (47:39):
You Brad Johnson on that on that team he had
was four Pro Bowls in that before Hall of Famers
on that.

Speaker 8 (47:45):
Counting.

Speaker 2 (47:47):
All right, yeah, man, all right, but here's here's a
fun thing. Here's the fun things. And I took away
the option of both, because if you want to, you
can actually do both. You can actually paid George Pickings
and go get the premier pass rusher. If they want
to divide the pot in that direction, you can tag

(48:08):
them to. Yeah, you can do a lot. So I
took the option away both to make us have to
make a decision.

Speaker 3 (48:13):
But you could you can do both.

Speaker 2 (48:16):
If you're listening, better, get somebody in the secondary, but
you have to be willing to be aggressive and.

Speaker 8 (48:24):
Or no, don't you say no, don't do both.

Speaker 7 (48:26):
No, no, no, I'm gonna do both. But I'm saying
put money into the secondary.

Speaker 3 (48:30):
Yeah you got, you got.

Speaker 6 (48:32):
You ain't gotta throw the whole kitchen singing. You go
get that like you said, you gonna get that premiere
pass Rusher, Man, it makes a lot. I mean, it's
tips and overthrows you. You got, you got, you got
riffles back there that's serviceable. There's a young guy that's shown.

Speaker 5 (48:44):
You some problems that that's gonna be today.

Speaker 7 (48:46):
What do you mean you so you haven't seen enoughing
level of this ship.

Speaker 3 (48:50):
But I didn't. I didn't.

Speaker 7 (48:52):
I didn't didn't expect to nothing.

Speaker 3 (48:53):
He done this ship. I was gonna be like, hold
that against him.

Speaker 7 (48:56):
I didn't see nothing to hold against him.

Speaker 6 (48:59):
But I definitely seen flashes where I was like, man,
if he's around a good vet like, I think he
can really develop. Give him some time with a healthy
plan and bring somebody else in there.

Speaker 8 (49:10):
They got to get somebody. You cannot go out here
and work and fix the secondary in the draft. You
got to get somebody out here that's got the reps,
that got the name that can actually, you know, help
fill in and teach these younger dudes too as well.
You this, this is not a thing that you go
out there and get draft some some kid high and
try to bring him in here and say he's going

(49:31):
to be the savior of the second.

Speaker 7 (49:32):
You don't think you don't think you can go get
you an old head vet where.

Speaker 6 (49:34):
It's like, I mean, but I'm saying like a cheap
like when you when you say throw money at the
second I think about going to get a guy that's
top five say throw money money, It's like I'm thinking
like you're going to get top talent versus like I'm
going to get a guy that's maybe on the his
last year, about to retire something like that, and be like,

(49:57):
hey minimum, I'm gonna get it, minimuny.

Speaker 3 (50:00):
Somewhere in between. I need somewhere in between on his
way out and top money dot.

Speaker 7 (50:06):
I need.

Speaker 3 (50:06):
I need somebody in between that and that with.

Speaker 5 (50:08):
Our hair is tight.

Speaker 7 (50:10):
I was just that was.

Speaker 5 (50:14):
A lot different.

Speaker 3 (50:14):
Can show tomorrow bring that up tomorrow.

Speaker 7 (50:18):
I got you.

Speaker 3 (50:18):
I'll put it on the docket. I'll put on the docket.
Remember we remember we can only talk about people who
are not employed by any other NFL team.

Speaker 15 (50:26):
Sorry, yeah, I thought that was just a player names
or coaches or coaches. Oh well, I was just saying
he was a good coach, Yeah, Tamper. So I gotta
change that number though, because that's at the secondary. You
can't handle thirty four. Then I come on, man, come on,

(50:48):
fall back up.

Speaker 5 (50:48):
That is for the day.

Speaker 2 (50:51):
We will be back here tomorrow, the same place, the
same time. I hope that you are with us, for married,
for Anthony. I am Jessy Holly And this is the
Players Lounges.
