Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is the Fits In with Kate Richie podcast.

Speaker 2 (00:03):
Hey, this is exciting guys. Paris Olympics not far away.
All eyes on Matilda's and now we've got the chairs
to chat to Australian goalkeeper and new Foods newly appointed
chief goalkeeper Mackenzie Arnold. She's on hand to help Bossie sets,
save and keep to their lifestyle goals. Mackenzie Arma, welcome
to the show.

Speaker 3 (00:21):
Hello, how are you?

Speaker 1 (00:22):
How are you sure? How are you feeling? You're pumped?

Speaker 4 (00:24):
I mean, it was so good to see you here
in Australia the last couple of games against China. I
thought it took a while for you girls to warm
up against China in the Adelaide game, but at a
core stadium, I just felt like that would have been
a big relief Mackenzie, because the girls started, you started to.

Speaker 1 (00:44):
Click and it looks really good going into the Olympics.

Speaker 3 (00:47):
Yeah, it was good. The first game we sort of allowed.

Speaker 5 (00:50):
Some players and don't get many minutes to get on
the field and yeah, I guess sort of show you
what they were about for the last game before selection
for Tony, so that was a great opportunity for them.
And then to yeah, I guess finish it off with
I guess the usual core group of players in Sydney,
and to get that win and also be able to

(01:11):
give many of that chance to have that send off
game that I mean was really special for all of.

Speaker 3 (01:17):
Us was pretty amazing, and to break another record was
pretty cool as well. So yeah, real good be Kenzie.

Speaker 2 (01:21):
Can I ask when we were talking about the swimming
earlier and the team selection and the why you know
your performance could be so fragile based on the elite
level of athleticism you guys have. Does that mean now
just sort of prior to the Olympics, you're on a
strict diet. I mean, what have you had to change
now that we look at a competition like the Olympics.

Speaker 5 (01:45):
Yeah, I mean I try and keep a pretty balanced
diet myself. Obviously with me being appointed the new chief
goal for you, food just recently has really helped me
sort of stick on that diet. They have some ready
made meals which helps for me where I need time
and all of that. So yeah, I've been trying to
lean on them as much as I can sort of
in the lead up to the Olympics, and a really.

Speaker 4 (02:07):
Big help obviously you're competing McKinzie, but it's the Olympics,
like this is every kid's dream.

Speaker 1 (02:13):
We watched it growing up.

Speaker 4 (02:14):
But were there any moments, I mean, are you girls
going to go to the opening ceremony?

Speaker 1 (02:18):
Are you going to be a part of all of
these celebrations.

Speaker 4 (02:21):
Were there any Olympic moments for you when you were
a young girl that sticks out in your mind that
you remember from the Olympics.

Speaker 3 (02:29):
I mean, I always remember watching the swimming growing up.

Speaker 5 (02:31):
I don't think I was never really a big football
fan and we didn't really have many our foot I
don't think we really had our football team in the
Olympics when I was growing up, so it was sort
of hard to aspire in that in that sense. But no,
I definitely remember watching the swimmers, Ian thought brand Hackett,
Susie O'Neil, that that kind of generation which was really
cool to watch. But in terms of us going to
the opening ceremony, we actually play the day before in

(02:54):
a different city, so we're not able to go to
the opening.

Speaker 2 (02:56):
Ceremony on Botunately, Yeah, McKenzie lean to consider too. I
don't think you already have one, but there would need
to be some serious consideration around whether you decide to
get the Olympic rings tattooed on some part of your body.
Is that something you've spoken about as a team.

Speaker 5 (03:15):
Some girls definitely have it. Yeah, this is going to
be my third Olympic, so I'm still I'm still that
idea three times now. Yeah, my body's going to be covered. No,
I haven't decided on that one yet, but we'll see.

Speaker 2 (03:31):
I mean, if we're Mackenzie, can you tell me this.
Let's say we have the ultimate result. Let's say we
win a gold medal at the Olympics. You're allowed to
dream and this is what it's all about. Can you
tell me who the number one person to watch it
the celebration is if we manage to take or bring
home a gold Who is the party animal within the team?

Speaker 5 (03:52):
I don't know about a party, but you can always
get a good celebration from Ellie.

Speaker 3 (03:55):
She's so animated you'll be able to see her from.

Speaker 1 (03:58):
Any angle from an ale yeap that is the one.
I love that.

Speaker 3 (04:04):
I had a question for you guys, did you get
my gift buddy gent?

Speaker 2 (04:08):
Yeah? We did, and you know what, thanks to your
foods and thank you Mackenzie for said, I've already smashed
the strawberry drag and fruit and apple pear college and juice.
I made that disappear, and I've got the course course
dish ready to go for lunch. So thank you for
sending in some beautiful food.

Speaker 1 (04:24):
Thank you.

Speaker 3 (04:25):
Okay, you're welcome. Just making sure.

Speaker 2 (04:26):
Cheezu look after us. I love that you're concerned about
my diet because I am too. Mackenzie Andnold.

Speaker 4 (04:34):
That well, thank you so much. We know how busy
you are. And good luck going into Paris.

Speaker 1 (04:40):
Mackenzie. We appreciate your time.

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
