Kay, you said you'd organize a special guest. We've been
talking about David Williams, and now he's not here.

Speaker 3 (00:08):
Well, he's not here because in true David Williams style,
we couldn't just get him into the studio and warm
him up a bit and intro him like every other guest.
He wants to make an entry. He wanted an entrance,
So bringing the guest, David, Welcome to the studio.

Speaker 1 (00:36):
And it only you. I haven't present, goodness. I've signed
my new book because I hear I was very surprised
you have children.

Speaker 4 (00:46):
Yes, of course, three times.

Speaker 1 (00:50):
My goodness, So I've signed it to them.

Speaker 3 (00:53):
Charge that would be sore. That would be so rude
for you to charge. And please don't take out as
though that's a special gift. You're just publicizing your Actually
I got them from this.

Speaker 1 (01:06):
This Kate is for you. Read what it says, dearest
darling Kate. I can never forget our time together. It
was magical. I want you more than ever, Jim, Oh
my god.

Speaker 4 (01:19):
They need some.

Speaker 1 (01:20):
Chocolates to bring you.

Speaker 4 (01:21):
Are they chocolates?

Speaker 3 (01:23):
Chocolates cocoa black as well you've done alright, and.

Speaker 1 (01:27):
You're buying the older.

Speaker 2 (01:29):
It's just extraordinary because we were completely not your name, David.

Speaker 4 (01:33):
We were left completely confused by this.

Speaker 1 (01:35):
I've eaten some of them.

Speaker 4 (01:39):
Look as Jim has Jim.

Speaker 5 (01:41):
The chocolates your hotel, that is, they may have been,
but they're not from me.

Speaker 1 (01:56):
They're from Jim.

Speaker 3 (01:57):
You know who you're talking about. But I'm glad to
have you.

Speaker 6 (02:00):
Mean this morning, David Williams. It is so good to
have you in this country. We've been speaking to you
quite a bit over the last few months, but it's
it's great to have you here soon and welcome to Sydney.

Speaker 1 (02:13):
Well you're well. You're not here though, well fit into
state today. Why is he there?

Speaker 4 (02:18):
He had had to go to film something.

Speaker 1 (02:22):
You shouldn't be on television. I don't think it is
a cool I need to get through.

Speaker 3 (02:29):
Yes, it has to be isolated.

Speaker 4 (02:32):
We got you for.

Speaker 1 (02:35):
As long as you want. There's so much to look,
there is so much to go through, a lot to process.

Speaker 4 (02:43):
Okay, yeah, we're going to want.

Speaker 1 (02:45):
Quite emotional already.

Speaker 4 (02:46):
You're feeling all right, Kate.

Speaker 3 (02:47):
I feel absolutely fine. Pleasure to have you in here,
to have.

Speaker 1 (02:54):
You in here, last night.

Speaker 3 (02:59):
I love that song and David.

Speaker 1 (03:02):
Their special star.

Speaker 4 (03:04):
Guest co hosting taking over the show. We're going to.

Speaker 1 (03:11):
Co hosting.

Speaker 3 (03:13):
What have you hosted in the past highlights?

Speaker 1 (03:16):
Missing? Nothing successfully. I'm more of a I'm more of
a funny guest than a host.

Speaker 3 (03:22):
Okay, have you have you performed at the Royal Hall
and I'm not at the Albert Hall at the Queen's thing?

Speaker 1 (03:29):
Yes, if you please, Kate, just let me finish. I
was at the Royal Royal Albert Hall, the Royal Albert Hall,
hosting the Royal Variety performance in front of Her Majesty,
the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh. Any feedback, Well,
you're not allowed to ask her a question, you see.
So afterwards she comes around and speaks to everyone and

(03:53):
she said, I think she said to one direction. Do
you all always work together? Yeah? Then I came down
on a wire at the start of the show, and
then she said to Robbie Williams, were you are the
man on the wire? Awesome? So your culture is big.

Speaker 2 (04:11):
Are you told in that incidents instance on that night
or is that a known thing that.

Speaker 1 (04:15):
You'd do the same. You can't ask questions and you
can't make eye contacts. Now, who's Jim? Well, you're just not.
I suppose if you said, oh, you know, who was
your favorite act, she'd have to give an opinion. And
then of course you tell everybody when you're on a
on a radio show in Australia many years later, and
then it would be like, oh, the Queen like this person.
But she was very nice. But the Duke of Vendword,

(04:37):
have you ever heard of of a group called Diversity?
They're a group okay, it's about twenty of them, and
they are a dance group that did very well on
Britain's Got Talent and there's like they're black, they're white.
There's like different ages and everything. And the Duke of
Edinburgh met them and went, are you all one? Family's amazing?

(05:01):
There's only twenty.

Speaker 4 (05:06):
I love those moments.

Speaker 2 (05:07):
We have had a band called Shepherd in a while
ago and I didn't know too much about them, and
I asked if anybody was getting it on within the band.

Speaker 1 (05:13):
Then found out the brother and Australia make any difference.

Speaker 4 (05:19):
You've got to do your research. Got to do your research.

Speaker 6 (05:23):
Actually, I wanted to ask you with the people that
you have met and and and you being in Australia
is just as big news as the Oasis reunion.

Speaker 1 (05:31):
But have you met the Gallagher brothers at old Liam
or Nole? I met him. I've met them both. Noel
I know quite well right, and he's quite funny. And
I texted him after the Oasis students said, oh, bollocks,
this is what we really wanted, was a bd I reunion.
And bd I was Liam Gallagher's not very long standing
sort of solo bad what he thought that was funny?

(05:56):
And he said, we you know, now the world can heal.
He said, you know, people of Israel and palast time
can look at what we've done and you know.

Speaker 4 (06:07):
It's possible.

Speaker 3 (06:07):
Yeah, will you get freebies to that? Or have you
brought there was a there was a chat yesterday around
the fact that people are paying twelve thousand dollars or
something for a ticket to see Oasis. But I'm guessing you.

Speaker 1 (06:22):
Know, if you're okay, what happens if if you're if
you're famous and rich and very successful, is it luckly
you don't have anything? Everything is for free? No well,
I know him, but how rude can I be on
this program?

Speaker 4 (06:41):
Very great?

Speaker 6 (06:42):
Go for it?

Speaker 1 (06:43):
Are you sure? Okay? Well, and Noel Gallagher's nice, he's
fun to me, He's he's he's a laugh. Liam is
a bit scary, right, And I mean, is this it's
going to be a bit.

Speaker 3 (06:56):
Rude, the option of turning on?

Speaker 1 (07:00):
All right? The first time I met him, he cornered
me in a toilet where hello, mister, mister, mister give
mister dick. I was like, what, I was terrified anyway,
the name is Stuck and it's.

Speaker 4 (07:19):
Mom.

Speaker 1 (07:20):
Mom calls me that now, so you know that's what
I'm known as you're listening to mister yeah, smarting.

Speaker 4 (07:33):
It's different when you do.

Speaker 1 (07:34):
It's rude.

Speaker 5 (07:37):
Is he like?

Speaker 1 (07:38):
Okay? There we go? Did you're giving off vibes or what?
He's mad? Mad as a hatter as a hatter. But
I think he likes unsettling you. I think that's his thing,
whereas Nol is just laugh So.

Speaker 4 (07:54):
Where does the conversation go from there?

Speaker 1 (07:57):
I just in the toilet and waited him to go
because I don't think what else can you do?

Speaker 3 (08:03):
How do you think the show? How do you think
the concerts are going to go?

Speaker 1 (08:05):
I mean, say, I'm not here to promote Oasis, right,
I mean good for them, you know, I mean great,
but I've been great. They were great about twenty years ago. Okay,
favorite song I do. Actually I did go and see
them live when I when I was I was going
to say a child, but I wasn't a child. I
was I was whatever in my twenties. So yeah, they

(08:28):
were a great bands. I mean only really like the
first two albums. To be honest with you, Wow, I
mean yeah, I loved all that. You know, don't look
back on Anger and Wonder Wall and all that sort
of thing.

Speaker 7 (08:39):
But anyway back to me, to me, me, and we
need to talk about Taylor Swift quickly.

Speaker 3 (08:46):
Did you go and see.

Speaker 1 (08:47):
Taylor whim go and see Taylor Swift. I'm not going
to pretend to be a Swift, ye, I'm not be interested.

Speaker 3 (08:55):
In actually seeing the show as hard.

Speaker 1 (08:56):
I just couldn't care less. I'm just not my thing.
I like the Petchup Boys, of course, of course you do.
You scream picture boys, don't you? Here we go? She
started here we go?

Speaker 4 (09:08):
You can finish it if you have a good laugh,
have a good.

Speaker 3 (09:12):
Laugh that you tell us something about you?

Speaker 1 (09:14):
Then?

Speaker 4 (09:14):
Now, why don't you tell us.

Speaker 1 (09:15):
Something about you? Then? Well, my name is David William.

Speaker 2 (09:21):
Can I ask a question for the two of you?
Has there been any further conversation around the return of
a g T?

Speaker 1 (09:28):
No, she killed it off starting dead.

Speaker 4 (09:32):
Are you're the reason it didn't come back?

Speaker 1 (09:34):
That's what they said? No, they did you not hear
about the audience research?

Speaker 3 (09:41):
Apparently I was very popular prese don't okay?

Speaker 1 (09:45):
Who would you say the four of us? Who would
you say was the most popular? Judgement? Who was the
least popular?

Speaker 3 (09:51):
Let's go, well, I think you'd have to start with
me as the most Popular's.

Speaker 1 (09:58):
Interesting, the research was very different.

Speaker 3 (10:01):
And then I would go to Alicia Dixon. Yeah, she's
definitely Shane Jacobson.

Speaker 1 (10:07):
Everyone was that his name because I never got his name.

Speaker 3 (10:17):
It's because David would be wheeled on at the last moment.

Speaker 4 (10:20):
It actually makes me I wouldn't.

Speaker 3 (10:22):
Be like this and look at the audience.

Speaker 1 (10:26):
Yes, well, it's good to engage with the audience.

Speaker 4 (10:28):
Bus swinging around on.

Speaker 3 (10:30):
I would love to do that show again. But the
other thing is, and I don't know if I'm allowed
to ask you about this. You did the one in
the UK as well, and then something new and then
something happened and.

Speaker 1 (10:42):
You're not there and I'm having to Australia. It's come
to this. Can you believe it?

Speaker 4 (10:52):
Can you stick around?

Speaker 1 (10:53):
I mean you no, I won't be going to Adelaide,
but everywhere else.

Speaker 4 (10:58):
This is the Fitting In with with Kate Richie podcast.

Speaker 6 (11:02):
David Williams in the studio and we're very very happy
to have David here. And tickets for an Evening with
David Williams and also the David Williams book show this
week in are on sale.

Speaker 1 (11:13):
At TG dainty dot com. What do you get more
nervous with?

Speaker 6 (11:17):
Is it in an audience with David Williams at night
or is it the kids during the day because they
get to ask you questions, David.

Speaker 1 (11:24):
Well, everyone gets to ask me questions if they want
in both shows. So yes, basically, I've come here to
Australia to do a show, an audience with David Williams,
which is me. It's a comedy show, me looking back
at my life and career. Were lots of surprises along
the way and in that show people in the audience
can ask me about anything wrong. But it's a show.

(11:44):
It's a piece of entertainment. Okay, So if we're not
like this just making up any ol shit. It's it's a.

Speaker 4 (11:51):
Proper, proper show to talk about these shows.

Speaker 1 (11:55):
Now I'll talk about it on Friday night.

Speaker 3 (11:59):
How do you choose our quest uestions? Do we go
into a hat or something?

Speaker 1 (12:02):
Yeah, everyone puts them on their they do something on
their phone or you know where the text them. But
we will bring people up onto the stage to ask questions.
So would one of you like to come onto the stage, Kate, Kate?

Speaker 3 (12:19):
Then I have to start worrying about what to wear
if you make me get up there.

Speaker 1 (12:25):
So yeah, So that's the that's in the evenings. I've
got lots of messages from people, well can I bring
my kids? You know, young kids and you both have.

Speaker 8 (12:33):
For thirteen ten ten, okay, and your children are forty two,
forty three, three eight the oldest one different mother children.

Speaker 1 (12:47):
And so in the days when it's the weekend, So
in Sydney this weekend there's a there's an eleven am
a three pm which is for the kids and it's
called the Day one of his Book Show, And that's
all about my books. It's a comedy show. It's shorter
than the one for the grown ups, and it means
you can get the kids home in time for bed,
but also the kids can ask any questions.

Speaker 3 (13:08):
Books have you written, because I have so many at home.

Speaker 1 (13:13):
Three it's quantity over quality, but I have been hammering
them out, as you said. So, yeah, So I'm touring.
I'm doing Australia Tasmania. I know it's part of Australia,
but it's a separate island. I know that now. And
I'm also going to have you ever had a place
called New Zealand? Yes, yes, I'm going to New Zealand,

(13:33):
which I'm very excited to love.

Speaker 3 (13:35):
Will you be doing any swimming getting into the ice?

Speaker 1 (13:37):
I'm going to swim. I think that I'm going to
go to uh to one of the beaches.

Speaker 3 (13:41):
Here and actually very well accomplished swimmer.

Speaker 1 (13:44):
What are we going to say that I was gonna say,
well equipped, won't I have a question? Yes, yeah, let
me just press praise see that with I was recently
had a pet Shot Boys concert and Noel Gallagher was
there and no no and I said, oh, I see

(14:05):
you're getting the big o back together moments after your
divorce was finalized. Because I think that's definitely been a fact.
I mean, you would you wouldn't like the day before
you you know you signed the papers. Oh, by the way,
I'm going to go out and earn a hundred million pounds. No,

(14:28):
no chance, no no love, no no chance of getting
the big back together. You're worried that's never going to happen. Quickly,
it was done, Liam, I'm just give a fifty million quids.
So yes, that's another about Oasis. My favorite Oasis song.

(14:48):
I think wonder Wall is pretty spine.

Speaker 2 (14:51):
Tinglingly can we go with wonder Wall boys?

Speaker 3 (14:55):
Okay, well maybe we'll play wonder Wall. But I've got
a little game for David to play this morning, and
basically it's he does tend to give me a bit
of a hard time and literally.

Speaker 1 (15:07):
Nothing.

Speaker 3 (15:11):
You know, I don't know what I'm saying.

Speaker 1 (15:15):
What are you saying? You've got a Q.

Speaker 3 (15:19):
You make up headlines in your head about me. But
there have been many lines, yes, and bring them to
the show. There have been many headlines about you written
over the years, David, and we're going to play a
little game where you can tell me whether they are
true or.

Speaker 1 (15:33):
Not, the real headlines, whether the stories are true.

Speaker 3 (15:38):
They can talk over that. Have you done radio before?

Speaker 1 (15:45):
Oh no, I'm on television. I know you a long time.

Speaker 3 (15:57):
Last year.

Speaker 1 (15:59):
I don't know.

Speaker 3 (16:04):
I've got some headlines for you. I just want to
know whether they are true or not. This is true
that your mom gave Prince William advice to pass on
to the Queen about what the comfiest shoe for an
older lady.

Speaker 1 (16:16):
Correct, she did. We were puppies. We were in the
Royal box at Twimbledon, and me and my mum and
we were sat behind Wills and Kate made a nice
long chat to them, and her Majesty the Queen was
alive at the time, and oh, it's funny. I have
a good laugh about it. Was an old, beloved, old

(16:42):
lady her and that's funny. I'm so sorry about Yeah,
he's not quite all there is he today? And she was,
you know, because at the time she wasn't very well,
and my mum was saying, you know, he was saying
she doesn't want to really wear flat shoes, and my
mom was saying, oh, I got some nice flat shoes.
It was just, you know, it wasn't the most amazing

(17:03):
story of all time. But but I think the thing
to take away from it is we know the right, yes.

Speaker 3 (17:08):
Yeah, that's the whole thing you're saying. It's not the
most interesting story of all time. But it opens with
we were in the Royal box sitting behind Catherine and
can I just.

Speaker 2 (17:17):
Point something out here? I am going to jump in. Kate,
Richie has a drink and maybe you can help. She
thinks Kate and Will would know who she is.

Speaker 3 (17:27):
I don't think that, do you think that?

Speaker 2 (17:29):
And she would like to come to the UK and
meet the royal family to see if they know who
she is.

Speaker 1 (17:38):
We know we did discuss you actually quite at length
with Wills and Kate, did you. Yeah. They said they've
got the They've got the whole box set of Home
and Away. They've got like DV Blu Ray, they have
got the God and as soon as they get to
the end, they go right back to the beginning to
watch it all again.

Speaker 2 (17:57):
Because Harry also spoke when he was at in the army,
I believe he watched Home and Away in his downtime.

Speaker 1 (18:04):
See he's the one that was with this.

Speaker 3 (18:06):
But I would like to come to Wimbledon next year
and meet.

Speaker 4 (18:09):
Them, if you could organize that place. I don't like
to ask, what.

Speaker 1 (18:13):
Do you want to you want to come in my
royal box, I can.

Speaker 4 (18:20):
I yes, if that's possible.

Speaker 7 (18:24):
I thought you I thought you were pre moving.

Speaker 1 (18:39):
My career over.

Speaker 3 (18:42):
Is it true that Lady Gaga wanted you to star
in the music video for Alan.

Speaker 1 (18:50):
No, I don't know anything about that. Okay, okay.

Speaker 3 (18:54):
Is it true that you've described yourself as Britain's Pete
Davidson and you're interested in dating Kimshian.

Speaker 1 (19:00):
No, that's not true.

Speaker 3 (19:01):
Oh okay, Well that's good. Don't shoot the messenger. Is
it true that, in twenty fifteen, after being crowned celebrity
most likely to inspire British the British public to get fit,
you sent David Beckham a life size cutout of yourself
wearing only your underwear.

Speaker 1 (19:19):
Oh where do these things come? Sure? You sure? That's
not true?

Speaker 3 (19:23):
Like you just kind of double down on the old
Google and they're popping up.

Speaker 1 (19:28):
Have you have a relationship with the Beckhams that do
you know? The Becams? Don't? Yeah? More hymn yeah and
but yeah, he's really nice, a lot of fun and
I mean I've bumped into the me and my ex
wife when we were married. It's best to have dinner
with your ex well while you're married and the type

(19:49):
of course. And we did have dinner with David in
Victoria a few times and they're fun. Yeah, he's really
nice and he was very kind to my son as well.
He was a big fan. Yeah, he's nice guy. It's
kind of what you see is what you get. You're
about to tee off on him, but then you held back.
Then you know, no, nice, He's fine. And I was
a big Spice Girls fan.

Speaker 3 (20:07):
So my favorite Spice Girl.

Speaker 1 (20:11):
Oh that's hard Ginger, probably Jerry. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I
love to say you'll be their video. They all look
amazing in that. But let's not hear it.

Speaker 4 (20:22):
Okay, so there was no cardboard cutout of you.

Speaker 8 (20:27):
Do you follow it?

Speaker 3 (20:28):
Don't sigh like that? Do you follow a football team?

Speaker 1 (20:32):
I follow footballers around sometimes, but natural team followed. No,
I've never followed a team. No, because I'm not. I'm
not that sort of man.

Speaker 3 (20:45):
What kind of man are you?

Speaker 1 (20:47):
That's the pet shop by the day last one?

Speaker 3 (20:52):
Is it true that you went on a handful Oh
I didn't know this. Is it true that you went
on a handful of spicy dates with Natalie and Brawley
and even talked about holiday and in Sydney together.

Speaker 1 (21:03):
Well, no, she's very much friend zoned me. You know
when that happens, that you have a huge crush on
someone and you sort of imagine like being married and
what your kids look like and all that sort of thing,
and and you're just completely friends friend zoned. Well, look
at me, but you should. Let's be honest. You can

(21:23):
do a lot better.

Speaker 4 (21:24):
Wouldn't you have moved in quicker?

Speaker 1 (21:26):
I'm sort of I think I'm seen as the sort
of gay best friend. Is how I'm seeing okay.

Speaker 3 (21:33):
And there's a place for everyone.

Speaker 4 (21:35):
A couple of does.

Speaker 1 (21:36):
No, we didn't go on any dates. We just became
very good friends and we hung out together. She's great.
It's hard not to kind of fall for her like
a ton of bricks. She's amazing.

Speaker 3 (21:46):
Were well done, friends, Thanks for playing that game.

Speaker 1 (21:53):
Date A great game filled a couple of minutes.

Speaker 3 (21:57):
Geez, well, I wanted you to stop talking at Oasis.

Speaker 2 (22:01):
Well Tom's Tom's now saying there's another game you have
to play on the board, says David, is sticking around
to play. I'm still standing. After the news.

Speaker 1 (22:13):
We're on it's time for hate Richie. Time still standing.

Speaker 8 (22:23):
Discover your next Kia at Sydney City keyer Oh reading
streak Alexandria.

Speaker 6 (22:29):
David, you're in the running for a Key Sportage Essex
Hybrid brand new car thanks to Sidney City Key.

Speaker 3 (22:34):
Congratulations David, and you could win one hundred dollars if
you wow.

Speaker 1 (22:40):
Wow, so generous. This show is gonna be.

Speaker 4 (22:42):
All yours today, life changing. Geez, spend it all at once.

Speaker 1 (22:47):
Well, I would pay off the mortgage, help my family
and friends. I put some away from Rainy Day, you know,
because I think that that's sort of a mound. You
really need to be sensible. Were its crossed?

Speaker 6 (23:00):
So David, you're our gifts. You're going first. Now, this
only goes for sixty seconds. You're going to start. If
you get one wrong, power goes over to Kate. Whoever
has the power at the end of sixty seconds wins
the one hundred dollars.

Speaker 4 (23:11):
Okay, So David, you're playing on behalf of Kelly from Richmond.

Speaker 1 (23:14):
Okay, you're there, Kel, Yeah, Hello, Hei going Kelly.

Speaker 4 (23:18):
Kelly's been a big fan of yours for years.

Speaker 1 (23:20):
David, really, where are you your Oh? Well, would you
like to come and see my show? As my guest, Kelly,
