Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is the fitting in with with Kate Richie podcast. Dragon.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
Thank you so much for this, you know what, you
guys have worked together so much platonic And also we're
talking about the movie before Bad Neighbors, which we didn't
know this but had to be changed too, Bad Neighbors
down in Australia because Rose Neighbors was already taken, which
is a huge show here in Australia.
Speaker 1 (00:23):
Huge.
Speaker 3 (00:24):
I would have thought it was merely a filmed version
of your popular soap.
Speaker 1 (00:28):
Opera, A Cultural Touchstow Cultural Touch.
Speaker 3 (00:32):
When I wondered what I was doing.
Speaker 2 (00:34):
A roach. Did you ever try out for Neighbors or
Home and Away when you were younger?
Speaker 1 (00:39):
Oh yeah, I did an ill fated soap called Echo Point.
Sure you're familiar with with some wonderful wonder black is
actually in all seriousness that was.
Speaker 4 (00:50):
Not did not have a long legs.
Speaker 1 (00:54):
I did not have the legs. And then, oh yeah,
I auditioned for Neighbors and Home and Away, all of them.
Speaker 2 (00:59):
What was your character? And Nicky Point Billy Billy.
Speaker 4 (01:02):
Billy, It was Billy well behaved or you were bad going?
Speaker 1 (01:05):
She was a good good What do you think? What
do you think? Look at what do you think? What
are we talking about?
Speaker 4 (01:11):
Yeah, you know, pity And I often talk about you know,
those moments you know in your career where you look
back and you really want to make a phone call
to someone who said you'd never make it or be
any good, and you want to go.
Speaker 2 (01:21):
Suck on that.
Speaker 4 (01:24):
I mean not literally in your career growing up, was
there anybody who said, oh, that's a drugging guy, never
gonna make it, no way, he's no good.
Speaker 3 (01:36):
Yeah, exactly. I mean I'm sure there was. They didn't
say it to my face. I think they have the
decency to say it behind my back, but uh no,
if anything, honestly, Like I look back and look at
like how much encouragement and support I got, especially for like,
(01:58):
you know, I was like a teenager doing stand up comedy,
and I was, like, you know, a teenager trying to
write movie screenplays, and other writers and directors and filmmakers
like really treated me with like respect and took time
to sort of instruct me and teach me. And I
look back at that and I think, like if I
(02:18):
was today, as a man in his forties confronted with
like a sixteen year old writing a movie I would
not spend any time talking to them in any way,
shape or for and so yes, the thank god I
was surrounded by people who are much nicer than I
am currently.
Speaker 2 (02:35):
I mean, we moved forward in season two of Platonic
Will and Sylvia, and I think we can relate to
this quite a bit watching season two. Is that you're
both going through a midlife crisis. I just bought myself
a brand new bike the other day and came off
at rise unfortunately, and I've got a huge bruise on
my bomb at the moment. But it's really something that's
(02:55):
confronting in our lives at the moment, is going through
this crisis and then finding that you just need to
buy things and make yourself feel happy.
Speaker 3 (03:04):
Yes, that's a real thing.
Speaker 1 (03:06):
I just spent and grabbed my bag off the floor
the other day in Melbourne and I sprained. I got
a lumbar facet sprain and I couldn't move for two days.
Speaker 4 (03:16):
Yeah, you dream, How did you get off the ground?
Speaker 1 (03:19):
I barely. I barely got off the ground. I had
to be shuffled back to the room and lay in
bed for two days, two days straight. It sprained my lumber.
Speaker 4 (03:27):
That's that's your age. I was told by builder the
other day that I was over forty and therefore no
one over forty should ever go up a ladder anymore.
Speaker 3 (03:34):
No, yeah, smart, I hurt my neck really badly shampooing
my head really yeah. I just like I literally like
just pushed too hard, like I was getting too vigorous
a lather going and I wow, heard for.
Speaker 2 (03:50):
Two weeks your hair looks amazing, that I said.
Speaker 3 (03:56):
But yeah, at the end of the day, worth totally.
Speaker 4 (04:01):
Any purchases for your midlife crisis seth. Have you gone
out and bought anything any fast cars or motorbikes?
Speaker 2 (04:06):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (04:06):
Of it, Jayla. I got an old timey fire engine.
I'm in a steam powered car. It's great.
Speaker 4 (04:19):
There is a comedian by the name of Ross Noble
who's hit the midlife crisis. He went, he's got a
farm in the UK. He bought a tank. He bought
a real life tank for his farm from tanks very much.
Speaker 3 (04:30):
Wow, there you go. That speaks to me middle I
get that. I get the instinct anything that makes you
feel a little bit more alive.
Speaker 2 (04:42):
It is season two Platonic. Your premieeres next Wednesday, August six.
Make sure you lock that in on Apple tv plus.
