So yeah, I've been in the car park waiting for

Actually, Mitt, you've got one of your best mates here,
Ronnie Blake is well and Ronnie, you are a commentator
at the WSL so we hear your voice all the time.
Can you tell us when he was winning his World championships?
I mean you were that Like, what was it like
as one of his best mates to watch your mate
go out and win something huge like that? Ronnie? What
was it like?
Speaker 4 (00:46):
Oh? Mate? It was incredible, you know, amazing. You know
I was biased in my commentary of time. I'm friends
with all of them, but it was amazing, you know,
you just to be there seeing those those big moments
people realizing their dreams and the flesh is amazing. And
then obviously in South Africa as well, it's thrilled that, oh,

mate came back to the beach.
Speaker 2 (01:11):
Were you commentating at the time, Ronnie, when the shark
went No.
Speaker 4 (01:16):
No, I wasn't, but were Ronnie? I was choking on
a musely bar the competitors area.

There would have been. Actually we're at liv golf Dom
Dollars performing tonight. Fish is performing Sunday night. You're very
good friends with Fisher. When you won your first World
Championship and you went back home to the Gold Coast
and you arrived at the airport Fisher was he even
DJing then? Me? Because he wasn't as big as he

was Fisher? But back then was he.
Speaker 1 (01:45):
He's not that big? Fish was still trying to compete
on the Surfing World Tour.
Speaker 2 (01:53):
And because he's a great surfer.
Speaker 1 (01:55):
Yeah he can surf. Yeah, it's really good surfer. And yeah,
he he was sort of doing he was sort of
like YouTube before YouTube sort of took off, and yeah,
he sort of want to shock everyone. And I'm sort
of to tell you the story. I've jumped in the
limit to leave the airport to head head home and.
Speaker 2 (02:16):
A huge crowd there to see you in at the
Gold Coast at cooling gadda.
Speaker 1 (02:19):
Yeah, there's like hundreds of people. And he was just
on the way out as we're driving out of the
airport and he's got his big sign and he sort
of got it over his private area and it says
pick us up, Champ. And then as we got closer,
I've stuck my head out the window and he's fully
lifted the sign and he's totally naked. He's kidding me
on the side of the Gold Coast Highway.
Speaker 2 (02:40):
You're kidding Your mom was in the car, wasn't she.
Speaker 1 (02:43):
My mom was in the car, and the limo driver
pulled up next to him. He's like, give us a lift.
I was like, no way, Oh my god. I mean
they just left him on the side of the highway. Well,
I was going to.
Speaker 3 (02:53):
Say, you can be the best mate in the world
and pick him up with your mom, or you can
have him arrested.
Speaker 1 (02:57):
Well, that dude, guys. That's the other thing. When I
said no, my mom's like a fisher's She's put her
head out the window and he's turned around and gave
her a full fruit ball.
Speaker 3 (03:10):
I wonder if he's going to be doing that at
live golf.
Speaker 4 (03:13):
He was always going to be famous, right, He's just
really sure what it was going to be.
Speaker 2 (03:18):
It's crazy, isn't it.

So you guys had a hit yesterday you were lucky
enough to have a round Cam Smith was playing. What's
it like to watch Cam so close up in the
precision of his work.
Speaker 1 (03:28):
It's yeah, he's so pure that the noise that comes
off the club with the ball, it's just it's so perfect,
isn't it. And you know when he zones right in,
he's landing where people would dream of a shot, and
he's doing it consistently.
Speaker 3 (03:44):
Control, isn't it?
Speaker 4 (03:45):
And that the Ripper GC boys like you can tell
that they're all really good mates. There's a camaraderie there
amongst the Australian group that you know is tangible. You
really feel it. So they're having a really good time together.
But yeah, like Mix said pure Lucas Herbert, we played
nine holes with him. He crushes the ball. But Cam

everyone always talks about his putting. Ever seem rita green.
Oh yeah, it's incredible. And the fast of those grands
get the more comfortable to rip of teams.
Speaker 2 (04:15):
You've taken up a bit of golf. You've got the
Mick Fanning Golf Day, which is a great charity helping
out families. Is that correct me?
Speaker 1 (04:21):
Yeah? Yeah, we sort of. We've started doing too now.
We do one on the Gold Coast in the middle
of the year where we raise money for the twenty
twenty two floods, and then we've started one in Melbourne
as well at the Aria golf Course and that's for
Reach mental health and also eb which is a horrible disease.
(04:41):
And over the four events that we've done raised just
under two million dollars.
Speaker 2 (04:46):
Well done. So what are your duties this weekend?
Speaker 1 (04:51):
Now? Mick?
Speaker 2 (04:51):
Are you finished? So you had to hit yesterday with Cam?
But are you are you sticking around for the golfer
You're hanging out of the watering hole. What I'm doing?

Yeah, I'm just cruising around, kissing hands, shaking babies, kissing.

Hands and shaking don't shake babies.

You're not going down the medi boys, going for a

No? No, we didn't even bring boards. You know, running
is a mad, mad golfer, so he's he just signed
me up for all this. Well done and.
