Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is the Fits In with Kate Richie podcast.
Speaker 2 (00:03):
It was a very special moment because this man said
we need to celebrate, and we said get in here
and bring some champagne. Pain Prime Minister Anthony Albaniz recently engaged.
Speaker 3 (00:16):
Yeah, thanks very much for the warm welcome. I've got
to say that there's no champagne here. It's got a
bit of a given recent incidents with plants.
Speaker 1 (00:28):
We're not drinking it this time of the morning, and.
Speaker 4 (00:32):
You can celebrate without champagne.
Speaker 1 (00:33):
And although we did have champagne on.
Speaker 5 (00:38):
The night, albout you haven't fallen over out the front
of the Unity Town all in Balmain or not.
Speaker 3 (00:45):
No, you would know about it because all your mates
in Balmain would have filmed it and they would have
walked past.
Speaker 1 (00:51):
They wouldn't have stopped.
Speaker 2 (00:55):
How was the night after the celebration, because I think
it's always exciting once you do pop the question to
be able to go, wow, this is actually happening. Let's
live in the moment. What did you do after that?
Speaker 1 (01:04):
It was fantastic.
Speaker 3 (01:06):
So we were by ourselves, obviously the lodge on a
balcony which overlooks one of the side balcony overlooks a
whole lot of greenery, big trees, and see you.
Speaker 1 (01:18):
Could be somewhere in the bush. It's quite nice. So
we Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:22):
When things settled down, Jode said, well, I'll I'm seeing
her parents on the weekend, so I'll get to tell them.
Then I said to her, darling, have a look at
where you are. I don't think it's going to hold
like it's held pretty well. I didn't tell anyone beforehand,
so we facetimed her parents, her mum and dad, mister
(01:46):
and missus Hayden were up there on the coast, there,
central coast. We woke them up and they were wrapped.
Speaker 4 (01:55):
Did you have to ask for permission, even as the
prime minister? Did you need to put in a call?
Speaker 1 (02:00):
No?
Speaker 3 (02:00):
I think Jody is a very strong feminist would have
objected to me asking asking her dad for permission. But
I think I think that was a sure thing anyway,
given when when Jody told her dad that we were
going out she was seeing someone, she'd met someone, and
(02:21):
she told.
Speaker 1 (02:23):
Him who it was.
Speaker 3 (02:24):
His first response was, I've loved him longer than you.
They're good labor people, teachers, public teachers out there on
the coast, wonderful people.
Speaker 2 (02:38):
Has there ever been a child conceived in the lodge?
Speaker 1 (02:42):
I don't know. I don't know, but that isn't going
to happen, right.
Speaker 2 (02:47):
I wasn't sure if you two were thinking maybe we
could start a young family.
Speaker 1 (02:51):
No, Kurrabilly House, Kiribilly House.
Speaker 6 (02:55):
Has there been on.
Speaker 2 (02:56):
Any conceived kids?
Speaker 4 (02:59):
It's been fam live there children. I understand what you're doing,
but I'm trying to probably respectful, probably over the thanks, Kate,
someone's got to be around.
Speaker 1 (03:12):
We've got your back, these boys, you Kate.
Speaker 5 (03:15):
A lot of people were saying cheesy to do it
on Valentine. What was the reasoning behind the Valentine's Day?
Speaker 3 (03:22):
Well, well, I did notice another broadcaster saying it was
a suspicious day for goodness sake. You know you've got
to work these things out. And what day do you ask?
Will never We'll never forget the date. And I just think,
(03:43):
you know, we've been seeing each other for four years
and it was time both of us want to spend
the rest of our lives together.
Speaker 1 (03:54):
So what better day than Valentine's Day?
Speaker 2 (03:56):
When are you going to get married? And where would
you do it? I mean your mind must have run.
Would you go back to or something village.
Speaker 3 (04:01):
Since since the proposal, I've been on the Central coast, Newcastle,
Nara and Perth. I got back last night, so we
haven't actually had a chance to talk these things through.
Speaker 2 (04:13):
But we'll talk if we can help out.
Speaker 3 (04:16):
My diary is pretty full, I've got to say, so
we'll work out a time and a place between us.
Speaker 6 (04:24):
What about the cricket match this year?
Speaker 4 (04:26):
We can We could kind of like you could have
a nice ceremony in the morning and then we could
have a game of the cricket and a bit of
a reception.
Speaker 3 (04:35):
Roman gret Lee coming in off the long run with
the wedding ring.
Speaker 2 (04:42):
You have thought about it, do it right.
Speaker 3 (04:46):
That's not going to have another cricket game it is.
Speaker 1 (04:51):
Don't push it too much.
Speaker 5 (04:53):
You do have some new text cuts. The other thing
I wanted to ask you about our bow as well.
It's a bit alarming at the moment with some of
a lot of these music for and I know you
were funding a lot of the arts at the moment,
but it's scary. Groove and the Moo just got canceled
and a lot of people are worried about these festivals
and if there is a future. You know, coming out
of the pandemic, the music industry got absolutely decimated Albow
(05:14):
and unfortunately now they're hearing that some of these festivals
are getting canceled as well.
Speaker 2 (05:19):
There's a lot of people worried.
Speaker 1 (05:20):
Well.
Speaker 3 (05:20):
The pity about Groove and the Moo is that it's
held in regional areas in Maitland and Canberra and places
that don't get access to the sort of artists. I
know that Alice in Wonderland was headlining Grooven the Moo
and I think King sting Ray were playing as well.
Love one of my fave, amazing, my favorite album of
(05:42):
last year was Kingstingray.
Speaker 1 (05:45):
But so it is a real pity.
Speaker 3 (05:47):
I was in Newcastle on the weekend and they were
really disappointed. There were all the surfers there. They had
a big surf carnival and it got raised with me
spontaneously by a few people. Have you heard about grouping
the movie and can you do anything about it? So, look,
we're providing support for the music industry. We think it's
(06:08):
really important. It's also of projecting Australia to the world.
I mean bands in excess and midnight oil and cultures
and others have broadcasts, have big fan bases internationally and
it's a way of showcasing that I gave the Sting
King Stingray album to Dave Grohl from the Food Fighters.
(06:32):
He gave me an album, so I gave him that
one back. Well, I don't know because I gave it
to you played at the time he went on stage,
but how could you not like it? And it is
a way of showing so much of Australian music is
unique and a showcases when you listen to a band
(06:53):
like King, stingrayl or Oils or other bands, you feel
that they're Australian. They couldn't come anywhere else.
Speaker 4 (07:00):
It's not just about kind of projecting to the to
the world, is it. It's about what music does for
you and getting people together as a community and.
Speaker 6 (07:08):
Some kind of outlet like it just ticks so many boxes.
Speaker 3 (07:12):
And I've got to say my son who's twenty three,
is a very big fan of going to the music
festivals and he was at Lame Way recently and love
various things. So it's a great way as well for
an old bloke luck me to keep in touch with
the latest music because he'll say this is who I
saw and you'll look it up and listen to it.
Speaker 2 (07:32):
So ask in terms of you talk about Dave Grohl.
But you know, when say the Royals are here, obviously
there's a meet and greet and you spend some time
with him because it's you know, the colony that we are.
But when you look at artists that come to town,
how does that interaction happen? Do you like Taylor's in
town now? Would you put in an invitation to an
event for her to come along to meet or you know,
(07:55):
how do those catch ups happen?
Speaker 3 (07:57):
Well, the Dave Grohl one happened because from Food Fighters,
because their management got in touch with us and he
was ower having a chat with him. He was feeding
the homeless, which is one of the things that he
does down there in Melbourne at fed Square.
Speaker 1 (08:13):
He brings across.
Speaker 3 (08:17):
A barbecue cooker that does meet in that very American style.
Speaker 1 (08:24):
That they do and.
Speaker 3 (08:28):
Feeds people for people who wouldn't cover a clue who's
coming up. It's just one of the things he does
to give back to the community. It's something he does
in California and he did it here and we had
a chat on the phone and then he said, you know,
catch up. So we did catch up for a beer
before the gig. But that's not usual what happens. No,
(08:51):
but I do like music. I go back away. I
got to see Nirvana at the first big day out
a long, long time ago.
Speaker 5 (09:01):
Imagine having an elbow on your shoulders at Horden Pavilion
watching vanat now, that is a moment in time. We
we was just talking about Taylor Swift. She's in town.
We've heard that you're a bit of a fan, You're
a huge fan. Three and a half hours. That's a
good effort.
Speaker 2 (09:16):
That's a long giit it is.
Speaker 3 (09:19):
It is a huge effort. That's like Springsteen, but of
length of gigs.
Speaker 5 (09:25):
So it is well, we've been giving away tickets a week, Olbow,
and the reactions that we've been getting from people to
get tickets, to these the mother's father's kids, to get tickets.
Can you help us out here if we gave away
a couple of tickets, can you make the call for us?
Speaker 3 (09:41):
Prime Minister, Mate, you're asking a politician, do they want
to make someone exceptionally happy.
Speaker 1 (09:50):
As the job? The answer to my friend is yes.
Speaker 6 (09:55):
Welcome to the.
Speaker 7 (09:56):
Error, the growing Swift.
Speaker 1 (10:07):
Thank you I love you.
Speaker 8 (10:08):
Thank you.
Speaker 4 (10:09):
Kate Richie's unreal sweet cit snobn eety six point nine.
Speaker 2 (10:14):
I'm nervous. I'm very, very nervous. The Prime Minister is
in the studio and at this time each day, Prime Minister,
we make a phone call that changes somebody's life. Normally,
Kate Richie surprises them with this wonderful news. But it's
your job today.
Speaker 4 (10:27):
I know, and I'm sorry, Prime Minister. Not that I
want to doubt you at all, but it's a very
big job giving out job Taylor Swift tickets. Are you
sure you're up to it?
Speaker 3 (10:36):
Well, we'll see how it goes. But I reckon I
have to do some difficult tasks.
Speaker 6 (10:42):
Oh okay, I've done a few before.
Speaker 1 (10:44):
This won't be at the top of them. This will
this will be you know you you announce.
Speaker 3 (10:50):
Tax cuts, as we did, go well, giving you a
tax cut, but you always get the initial blowback from
any big announcement.
Speaker 1 (11:00):
I reckon this, there'll be no blowback.
Speaker 4 (11:02):
I'm not at all to be a very happy person
on the line.
Speaker 2 (11:05):
Whoever. Okay, the Prime Minister got the details of the
core we're about to make. Okay, good luck everybody. You've
got this.
Speaker 8 (11:13):

Speaker 3 (11:29):
I'm sitting here in the studio with FITCHI and Whipper
and Kate on Nova and I'm calling to give you
the news, which I reckon it's pretty good news that
you have won tickets to Kate's sweet Seats.
Speaker 1 (11:46):
You're after Taylor Swift.
Speaker 5 (11:48):
Why Tarlia, Tarlia, what are you crying about that you
got the Prime Minister on the line or that's youts.

Speaker 1 (12:09):

been trying to get the tickets for like crazy?
Speaker 8 (12:17):

and round and then add on top ticket to take marketplace.
Speaker 7 (12:25):
Thank you so much.
Speaker 1 (12:26):
Good on Italia.
Speaker 3 (12:27):

I think right around the country just went down to
zero when the tickets were available. I went in the office.
Emma's just on their phones on computers. No, I was
doing any work.
Speaker 5 (12:43):
Barnaby was on the ground, he was trying to get tickets.
Speaker 1 (12:47):
That might have been the call he was making.
Speaker 2 (12:50):
It was swearing a ticketmaster.
