Speaker 1 (00:01):
Is it fits in with kate Wiki podcast. Welcome to
the podcast special Thanks everyone.

Speaker 2 (00:09):
Producer Jess here with my own special moment from the pod.
Can I ask the team a question? Do you love
working in breakfast radio because we get out of all
the conferences and over put on from like eight to
ten am? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (00:24):
Yeah, I came across some audio.

Speaker 2 (00:27):
The best or should I say the worst conference performances?
You know how sometimes at a conference, Hey, do you
know I actually did host the sales conference back in
twenty sixteen. Do you actually helped me out with a video?

Speaker 1 (00:39):
And so did you? Kate?

Speaker 2 (00:40):
You wouldn't remember this at the time. Probably, I mean
it went down well, not all conference performances do, which
is why I loved this moment from the show so much.
Kate found the worst conference performances of all time. Just
have a listen to this audio, enjoy the pod.

Speaker 1 (00:56):
Love you.

Speaker 3 (00:57):
I don't know if you saw in normal workplaces that
aren't radio studios. Sometimes they might go away for a conference.
The way they get everybody up and about and they
build morale is that they have like a cool.

Speaker 1 (01:12):
Performance. Maybe some of the people that haven't show Yes,
did you see this thing?

Speaker 3 (01:19):
It was last week from Canva. Did you see the performance?
It was so cringe that they put on at the conference.
Now you know Canva? I actually had. I had to
look up Canva after my nine year old daughter started
talking to me in the car about it on the
way home from school, like can we get candor or

(01:39):
something because she's got to do a Harry Potter poster
or something like that. They're worth an absolute fortune. They
had this gathering, but it was like a It resembled
more of an evangelical church service rather than like a
normal presentation. They were unveiling the site and the apps
redesign alongside it, you know, a host of all of

(02:02):
new tools.

Speaker 1 (02:03):
It's pretty awful. Have to listen to the audio. You'll
read design your work him but got that glow up?
Read a sign from the flow, customize your workspace and
megags you're oh, now you'll when you're popping.

Speaker 4 (02:15):
The zone not sir, Yes, I'm talking to all of
you up there.

Speaker 1 (02:21):
Did you You guys know what's happening? Are they're acting?
But what about me? Who is just CI? I'm an
enterprise seat and I have some doubts. Sejourney that.

Speaker 3 (02:34):
No touching about some pretty this would need if we
were doing this, this would.

Speaker 1 (02:40):
This would be just closing.

Speaker 3 (02:46):
I mean it's quite professional, but when you see it,
it's like imagic. The people on stage, like most theater productions.
I shouldn't say that. The people on stage, they're having
a whole of the time. The people in the audience
are going.

Speaker 1 (02:58):
Oh my god. This so I fell into a bit
of a hole.

Speaker 3 (03:02):
Finding like other little conference performances Google, this was one
from Google.

Speaker 1 (03:08):
They hosted a conference. They had a.

Speaker 3 (03:10):
DJ DJ Loop Daddy perform This is and just remember

Speaker 3 (04:22):
Well, that's for Google. I don't know what they would
have paid for him and that. This is my favorite
audio though. This comes from a social media marketing work conference.

Speaker 1 (04:30):
It was a while.

Speaker 3 (04:30):
Ago now San Diego and a woman Mary McCoy, You

Doing things you.

Speaker 4 (05:33):
If you would like to see that, go to the
with Kate Ritchie Instagram.

Speaker 2 (05:39):
With social This is the Fit and Whip Her with
Kate Richie podcast. One of my favorite moments was when
Kate told us she found a book that her dad
had given her called Radio one oh one, and we
we introduced probably one of my favorite segments, Kate, I
think you were saying offair it was one of your
favorite segments too.

Speaker 1 (06:02):
We had a lot of content. I didn't think he
knew me that well, lots in.

Speaker 2 (06:08):
The book, lots of learnings to be had, lots of enjoyment.

Speaker 1 (06:12):
Here's the pods, guys.

Speaker 3 (06:14):
I've got something really good for you this morning. Coffee,
no breakfast.

Speaker 1 (06:21):
I've been doing a bit of spring cleaning of late,
getting rid of a whole lot of stuff. Again.

Speaker 3 (06:25):
One of the things I came across when I was
going through not the bookshelf, but the boxes of books,
because yes, I'm a bit of a hoarder, and I
have come across this book a few times. Thought about
throwing it out, but I haven't and it's caught.

Speaker 1 (06:37):
Hold bless him.

Speaker 3 (06:39):
Morning Radio number two. I don't know if you've ever
seen volume no exactly.

Speaker 1 (06:46):
Don't worry.

Speaker 3 (06:47):
I'm having it copied and everyone in the office is
going to get turning.

Speaker 1 (06:50):
The science into art. I'd love to see volume one.
I mean, how do you go past volume one? Tommy
is telling me that he has seen this book.

Speaker 3 (06:59):
Have volume one, so it has like you know, phone
topic suggestions, you got your call, yeah, all of that.

Speaker 1 (07:06):
Yeah, so it's you from this It's fantastic. In the
history of radio, the.

Speaker 3 (07:13):
Importance of personalities that truly make a difference has never
been greater. Now, this book was printed a long time ago,
so I don't think that a lot of the ideas
in it we could probably do in twenty twenty four.
But considering theme, Queen has been such an incredible success,
I thought, I've just got you know, you get one

(07:35):
good idea, Like now I'm just feeling invigorated.

Speaker 1 (07:38):
Right, you got some examples. I have Fortune Cookie Friday
does it without tech.

Speaker 3 (07:47):
No accents, No, it actually says accents. That's that's how
old the book is. I've got a few little ideas.

Speaker 1 (07:54):
Oh gosh, here we go, Here we go. This is
a basic one, and I know that you love working with.

Speaker 3 (08:00):
Kids, whip, so it's it's on page forty seven, chapter
forty seven.

Speaker 1 (08:05):
Sorry. In fact or fiction, truth or Lie would be
the segment. This is a simple feature that is easy to.

Speaker 3 (08:10):
Execute, Tommy, you'd like that interactive perfect for that material
you just didn't know what to do with. So you
get a caller on the phone. You read some statements
to them and it can be current events, trivia, just
about anything, and the caller has to identify whether the
statement is true or not.

Speaker 1 (08:27):
Oh yeah, every second, Like if I all work out
who's telling the liar. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (08:33):
Three, And with a twist on the lying element, you
could also get kids on to tell their biggest family secret.
That's another idea, like get kids on the line.

Speaker 1 (08:43):
I know that something's in prison, something it could go,
it could get dark. So let's get okay, what else
is here? We go?

Speaker 3 (08:54):
I do like this one. It caught my eye. Lie
like a guy, wine a woman. Again, Lie like a guy, wine.

Speaker 1 (09:08):
Like a woman.

Speaker 3 (09:09):
Now, these two features are cousins, though lie like a
guy is usually far and away.

Speaker 1 (09:14):
The most powerful feature. I don't know. You're always better
off bashing men than women. Why say that? Yeah? Listen.

Speaker 3 (09:22):
In fact, a good rule of thumb for many morning
shows is that the girl always wins.

Speaker 1 (09:29):
God. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (09:31):
So you create a scenario that could easily happen to anyone,
then solicit women to call in and lie the way
that they would expect a guy to lie to you
in that scenario. So you've got women basically playing the
role of the man being piggish.

Speaker 1 (09:46):
Like a man.

Speaker 3 (09:47):
That's rubbish, And I've got one last while personal Okay, please,
if you've just tuned in, I am reading from a
morning radio kind of textbook. Men a scum Day Scum Day.

Speaker 1 (10:05):
Well, exactly there we do. We've even got the opener.

Speaker 3 (10:08):
So Men of Scum Day, this is how it's This
is how it unfolds. This is a home run for
any female target show. You get laugh just open the phones.
But what has happened to you that proves that menace scum?
Just put women on to tell their story about their
personal experiences. It's a perfect bit to thread throughout the
entire show on the same day. Each week, you may

(10:31):
need to prime the pump Scum Day. Whatever that means, Tommy, what.

Speaker 1 (10:37):
A chat? I think it means have callers ready to go,
you know, okay for a week or two, you've got
to prime the pump. This wasn't written by a female.
I don't think it was. Oh it was Tracy is
a man? Oh is it? Tracy Johnson wrote this book
and two of them. Do you think it's just the
lines have flit up for mena Scum Day. I didn't

(10:58):
even have to say.
