Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is the Fitting and Whip with Kate Richie podcast.
Speaker 2 (00:03):
We tracked down the main man yet.
Speaker 3 (00:05):
Oh mate, we've been lucky enough to see this documentary,
but it's out on Prime Video tomorrow. It's called Kids
Are Growing Up. It's the story of the kid LaRoy
and he's well, he's huge rise from a young kid
in Redfern. It's an unbelievable story and we're just getting
him up right now.
Speaker 4 (00:23):
There is kiddl ROI where are you?
Speaker 1 (00:26):
Bro? I just stepped away. I was just grabbing some food.
I was just doing a bunch of interviews and stuff earlier,
so I just kind of snag some food really quickly.
Speaker 4 (00:35):
Chicken burger? Did you get your own chicken burger?
Speaker 1 (00:37):
Unfortunately?
Speaker 3 (00:40):
Do you know what, like when you started in this industry,
did you think one day you'll have your own burger?
Speaker 1 (00:46):
Uh? That wasn't on the top of.
Speaker 5 (00:50):
That's not what you set out for.
Speaker 4 (00:52):
But do you know what?
Speaker 2 (00:54):
I would love to be your manager and see the
amount of stuff that would come your way.
Speaker 6 (00:59):
And yeah, I want to see the list of knows,
the list of knows?
Speaker 2 (01:03):
What is the ridiculous request? Could you give us one?
Speaker 1 (01:06):
Could I give you one don't. I don't know off Tom,
but I've had some pretty crazy requests.
Speaker 2 (01:14):
Definitely, this is a really exciting project that you've been
working on. Kids are growing up now. This is basically
your story, isn't it. I mean, from Redfern to where
you are now.
Speaker 1 (01:25):
Yeah, it's a story of the past like three years,
maybe four years. It's not the it's not like a
full you know, like come up story situation or like
the triumphant like this is it documentary is at the end.
It's just it's a little bit of just like a recap,
a little bit of insight to the past couple of
years and just hopefully yeah, I mean the goal of
(01:47):
the film is basically, I guess, just to hopefully maybe
inspire people a little bit and just, I don't know,
show a bit more of myself. That's what everyone's love
telling me to do, is show a bit more of myself.
Speaker 3 (01:58):
Well, watching this documentary and the amount of anxiety and
depression that you suffered as a young child, and you
know what, it's amazing to think because I mean there's
you know that there's a lot of young artists and
rappers out there, kid that are trying to make it
these days, but just to get that tiny foot in
the door and for Juice World to do that for
you and say come and support me on the Australian tour.
(02:20):
Like it's just tiny moments, sliding doors, moments in people's
careers that would you be here now if that didn't happen?
Speaker 4 (02:29):
Kid, I don't think so at all.
Speaker 1 (02:31):
I know, I think everything you know comes together the
way it's supposed to, and you know, you can't predict anything.
You know, everything comes you know, different timing and it's
all just a combination of yeah, of all that stuff.
But I definitely there's no there's no chance I would
be here without Juice at all.
Speaker 3 (02:49):
Is there anything from the Red Ferndaigs that you couldn't
put in the documentary?
Speaker 4 (02:53):
There would have to be some videos.
Speaker 1 (02:54):
I want to do something later on down the line
where we do a proper you know, like everything about
but my life and said this was I really wanted
to just focus on the past couple of years of
doing the whole music thing and just like that was
you know, more so the space of keeping it about
like that and just like you know, showing people like
(03:15):
just the different moving parts of like being you you know,
going through whatever has happened the past three years for.
Speaker 6 (03:21):
You, So saying that you're not ready to be canceled
just yet, you're going to keep some of it.
Speaker 5 (03:27):
You're going to keep some of those things in your
back pocket.
Speaker 4 (03:31):
That's up.
Speaker 5 (03:35):
I need to ask you about the footy.
Speaker 6 (03:37):
I know you've been hanging out with some of the
rabbit Os, maybe even at your own pad in La.
Are you going to get to the game in Vegas?
I think it's what ten days, you know, And.
Speaker 1 (03:48):
I wish I was going. I'm going to be in Malaysia.
I get back the day after, I get back the
day after, so I'm I'm not going to be able
to make it.
Speaker 4 (03:59):
Who did you hang out?
Speaker 1 (04:00):
We saw Cody, We saw Ji. Yeah, we got Yeah,
we got to hang out with them for a little bit.
They come, they came past to the studio and we
had a good time.
Speaker 4 (04:10):
Little little link. I was trying to.
Speaker 1 (04:12):
I was giving him some sponts to go to our
heir because they were pretty keen to hit the town.
Speaker 2 (04:18):
Is Russell there?
Speaker 1 (04:18):
Now?
Speaker 2 (04:19):
Was Russell involved?
Speaker 1 (04:20):
No?
Speaker 4 (04:20):
So we just it was only a link with us.
Speaker 1 (04:23):
And I'm yet to I'm yet to go and get
around everything but I think I think when I get
back from Alges, they said they're going to stay here
for one extra day, So am I I might going
down to Vegas and hang out.
Speaker 5 (04:35):
For a bit, can I can? I?
Speaker 6 (04:37):
As the middle aged of the group, I'm just giving
you some motherly advice here. I feel somewhat responsible, and
I'm listening to you say that you're going to fly
back and spend the last night with the rabbit Oaks
in Vegas.
Speaker 5 (04:52):
I'm saying a bought mission.
Speaker 1 (04:55):
Now.
Speaker 4 (04:57):
No, do you know what? You're probably the responsible one kid.
That's that. That's what Kate saying.
Speaker 1 (05:06):
I like to think I'm pretty pretty responsible.
Speaker 5 (05:09):
Well, I think you couldn't have had the career you've had.
Speaker 6 (05:11):
I mean, we we love all the quirky and fun
and naughty parts of you, but you have to be
responsible to have such or have built such a great career.
Speaker 5 (05:21):
It's been lovely to watch.
Speaker 1 (05:23):
I have to say, that's really sweet. Thanks for saying that.
Speaker 5 (05:26):
That's okay?
Speaker 6 (05:26):
Can I quickly ask, though, if you did kick the
footy around and you were out on the field yourself,
which position would you be playing for you?
Speaker 1 (05:33):
Honestly, yeah, I suck.
Speaker 4 (05:38):
You'd have a bit of pace, kid, you'd be out
in the wing. Speed a wing.
Speaker 1 (05:44):
I am fast, I am fast.
Speaker 5 (05:55):
Got your lunch on China? Is that China?
Speaker 2 (05:58):
That's the chicken burger.
Speaker 1 (06:00):
That's not the chicken burger. But sorry, that was really funny.
But yeah, maybe we'll go with a wing. Definitely not forward,
but maybe maybe maybe a wing. I'm pretty fast, but
I suck at footy. I'm so bad.
Speaker 4 (06:10):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (06:13):
Is that Tatem Craye she jumping in the car now
with you? Or is she she's not there today?
Speaker 4 (06:18):
You guys?
Speaker 2 (06:18):
Are you?
Speaker 1 (06:19):
Guys are crazy?
Speaker 5 (06:21):
Right with.
Speaker 1 (06:24):
You?
Speaker 4 (06:24):
Guys are crazy?
Speaker 1 (06:25):
You know?
Speaker 4 (06:29):
Can we just ask are you happy? At the moment?
We're just we're worried about you?
Speaker 5 (06:33):
My question.
Speaker 1 (06:34):
I am very I'm very happy. I most definitely am very,
very very happy. So I'm actually the happiest I've been
maybe ever.
Speaker 6 (06:42):

on that plate right now.
