Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is the Fitting in with with Cake Richie podcast.
Tell me when you make of this. A zoo in
Denmark has asked the local Denmarkians to donate pets as
food to the zoo. What so, They've put a post
on Facebook saying that if you have a pat that's
(00:20):
sort of nearing the end of their life, do you
reckon you could give it to the zoo so we
can feed it to our animals.
Speaker 2 (00:25):
Give me a break. So, like, what any type of
animal like your dog?
Speaker 1 (00:29):
Well reading this is quite interesting because it starts off
by saying, if you've got any chickens, any rabbits, or
maybe you've got a guinea pig that you're not really
into anymore, Look we'll come and pick it up. And
then see that lion over there in the corner of
the enclosure. It's gonna love a bit of guinea for
dinners for dinner.
Speaker 2 (00:49):
No, that is not how you know if you've got
a greyhound that's obviously not performing on the track, Well, here.
Speaker 1 (00:56):
We go, there's a tiger enclosure. I suppose you just
throw the greyhound in and let it goet. What's weird
about this because they've said if you have any animal
that is to leave life for various reasons. Feel free
to donate this to us. So what they've said is
the animals are gently euthanized, euthanized by the training staff
(01:18):
and then afterwards uses food. So they've said it's really
healthy for the animals at the zoo to experience real
meat like you would in the natural food chain of life.
Speaker 2 (01:29):
Give me a break. Do you get a little plark
or something? You know? And people we spoke about this
recently where the councils had to stop people putting plarques
on local benches because that's where people love to sit.
Speaker 1 (01:40):
That's right, Jo.
Speaker 2 (01:41):
I mean, if you donate your pet, can you just
have you know, in the line enclosure, is there a
little plark there that says.
Speaker 1 (01:47):
Speaking to greyhound? Yeah? Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:49):
Fifteenth of May we drop Rover off and he was
gobbled up within two minutes.
Speaker 1 (01:55):
He run around for a while, he tried to keep up,
but a pack of lines on unfortunately ripped him to shreds.
So not only as you said fits when you said
what animals do, they accept chickens, rabbits and guinea pigs.
That's what they list at the start of it. Then
the post goes on to say. The zoo's website explained
that it also gratefully accepts live horses walk. If you've
(02:20):
got a pony in the backyard and you're thinking, oh
my god, this donkey really is costing me too much
in carrots per week, here, donkey, I'm just going to
ride you for one last time down to Taronga. Everything's
going to be all right. I'll be getting an uber
home and you just stay here with our friendly lions.
Speaker 2 (02:40):
Oh. I don't know if you have to do the
sound effects, mate, I mean you would think if you were,
I mean, if this did apply here in Australia.
Speaker 1 (02:49):
It's a crazy idea and the backlash has been huge.
Got our neighbors have got a dog. I'm sort of
thinking if it went missing, who would really be too
concerned If you've got an annoying dog as a neighbor, Jess,
don't roll your eyes at me. You would we do.
But I would never take it and feed it to
a lion.
Speaker 2 (03:09):
Well it's not your dog. You just can't take somebody else's.
Speaker 1 (03:13):
I just would know.
Speaker 2 (03:15):
See they're not They're going about this the wrong way
by asking the public to give up a beloved pet
what they should do is go to Ramwick on a Saturday,
go to the owner's enclosure and just pick the guy
that's sitting there with his hands in his head, on
his head, just going oh my god, this horse. I'm
over it, on over it. That's where you find your
(03:36):
next feed for the line enclosure, or you bring the.
Speaker 1 (03:39):
Line to the track and it can actually make the
horses run faster than I've ever run before. Now that's
a good race, Now that'd be interesting. It's in Whippa
