Speaker 3 (01:26):
Of course.
Speaker 2 (01:28):
Always great to have you on the show, Wes. And
you know this is one of those few times you

Speaker 3 (01:39):
Sn R H.
Speaker 4 (01:43):
I'll take you.
Speaker 3 (01:44):
That's a good Yeah, it is, it is. It is.
How you doing?
Speaker 2 (01:48):
But you know, I saw you Sunday, but you know,
it's it's been a while since we've talked talked.
Speaker 4 (01:55):
Yeah, man, I cannot complain. Things are good.
Speaker 5 (01:58):
Uh, had a had a lovely weekend, you know, had
a nice Halloween with the family, Steelers got a w
and uh you know, Max were heading off to sunny
southern California where it looks just absolutely beautiful weather this weekend.
So I got no complaints. Man, life is good. I
hope you're doing well as well.
Speaker 2 (02:19):
Yeah, I'm doing I'm doing okay. I think the best
way is putting it.
Speaker 3 (02:22):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (02:24):
A lot of stuff yesterday, but took my daughter and
her friends to a Tate McCray concert. Oh boy, yeah
yeah yeah so that was that was that was one
of itself right there.
Speaker 3 (02:41):
I mean, okay, concert, I mean a good concert.
Speaker 2 (02:46):
I mean she sounded great, you know she she dances
and a lot of choreography, a lot of pyro stuff
and and shooting up you know what, what's the what's
the one that's like the air with the with the
clouds like.
Speaker 3 (03:01):
You know that stuff.
Speaker 2 (03:03):
Yeah, a lot of bright strobing lights too not but
but it was it was like tough to why. At
one point I just I just had to go sit
in the back. Uh you know, it just just just
hang out, like okay, you girls just keep jumping and screening,
and why is it like and you haven't experienced this
west you have, you have a number of years my
(03:23):
young padwan too to have to deal with.
Speaker 3 (03:28):
Uh. You know when when.
Speaker 2 (03:31):
Young people, I do not want to say it because
I've not been to, you know, a concert with a
bunch of young boys. So but but with my daughter
and her friends, they don't necessarily try and sing a
song more so than yell loudly as though they think
(03:55):
the singer is going to individually and song oh my god, yes,
at the top of their lunge. And so you know,
I I wear my Apple Watch, right, it keeps giving
me loud DOI's environment updates that you know, long term
effects could to effect hearing.
Speaker 3 (04:14):
I'm like, yeah it can.
Speaker 2 (04:16):
But yeah, so I was like I was like I
kept plugging my ears when you started to hear the
rowdy even think of the crowd, even think about.
Speaker 3 (04:23):
Like wanting to like roar and scream and go crazy.
Speaker 2 (04:26):
I would just I would politely slide my fingers to
my ears, along, my along.
Speaker 3 (04:30):
My youngest daughter, Quinny. Quincy was not playing.
Speaker 2 (04:33):
She was like, she was like nope, She's like, I
don't need to be around this dad. I'm like, I know,
but technically we have to be here. It's just his
birthday party. So but we're He's.
Speaker 3 (04:43):
Getting grin and bear for the next half an hour.
Speaker 2 (04:46):
At that point, it was like almost forty five minutes left.
Speaker 3 (04:50):
So yeah, yeah, it was crazy. She was.
Speaker 4 (04:54):
She was just in Pittsburgh a few weeks ago. I'm
pretty sure.
Speaker 5 (04:57):
I think my sister, you know, my oh our our producer,
producer Justin was there as well too.
Speaker 4 (05:02):
I think my sister was there. There is like there
is there's this.
Speaker 5 (05:07):
Big new wave of like young women pop stars and
music right now, and like Tate McCrae and Sabrina Carpenter
and Olivia Rodrigo, like all these people.
Speaker 4 (05:20):
I know who they all are.
Speaker 5 (05:22):
If they walked past me, I could point them out
to you and be like, oh, yeah, that's Sabrina Carpenter.
I could not tell you one of their songs, not
any of those people that I just named. I know
Sabrina Carpenter has a song called Espresso. I just I
wouldn't know what it sounds like if I heard it.
I couldn't tell you a sing. I know Tate mccray's Canadian,
(05:42):
but I couldn't tell you a single song that any
of those people sing. But I know that pretty soon, Max,
that that is going to be my life as Yeah,
I've got a four year old and two year old,
so I am not too far behind the screaming concert
tours like you right.
Speaker 2 (06:00):
Now, that's right, Oh you just wait, my friend.
Speaker 3 (06:06):
Enjoy the enjoy these years.
Speaker 2 (06:08):
Enjoy these years where they want to hear you know,
Disney Disney tunes and you still get to control your
own radio and you know, life is life is normal
because they.
Speaker 3 (06:20):
Do not talk back, and it is.
Speaker 2 (06:24):
Yeah, it is a whole different category of understanding and
dealing with to get to.
Speaker 3 (06:32):
Anything.
Speaker 2 (06:32):
Like I mean, just this morning, like getting the girls rail,
I was making lunch and everything and trying to get
them ready. My youngest Like, second, you don't pay attention
to her sitting on her bed.
Speaker 3 (06:44):
Reading a book.
Speaker 2 (06:45):
I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, not that, not that,
I'm that I'm going to be mad about that.
Speaker 3 (06:50):
But you didn't get dressed yet for school. I'm like,
what what are you doing?
Speaker 2 (06:55):
Like what made you stop like like before getting rest
and say, you know what I've got to I got
to read this agenda real fast, just just go over everything.
I'm like it was like intently, like in the thinker pose,
like looking at this at this agenda sheet.
Speaker 3 (07:11):
I mean she was.
Speaker 2 (07:12):
I was like, girl, get dressed. Oh how do you?
How do you forget about getting dressed for school? That's
why I woke you up?
Speaker 3 (07:21):
Oh man?
Speaker 5 (07:23):
But yeah, enjoy my greatest, my greatest it's my greatest
battle right now though, Max is getting those getting those
girls dressed first. Well you know we call it school,
it's actually daycare at their age, but I I know
it's a battle. They'll be there'll be sweet little angels
and then I'll be like, hey, girls, come on, it's
time to get dressed.
Speaker 4 (07:42):
No, it's just like they flip a switch.
Speaker 2 (07:45):
Oh yeah, because it's like you try to use the
gentle approach, right and good morning, how are you. Let's
get up, let's start a new day. Is you're like
you're like coaxing them and trying to like be like
or as I called buttle them, you know, like a butler.
(08:05):
You know, so you see you're like buddle. I don't
know what butler ring.
Speaker 3 (08:12):
Technically?
Speaker 2 (08:13):
What what does a butler do per se? You know,
that's the question I'm thinking about this.
Speaker 4 (08:20):
I'm like, hangs out, hangs out with Batman. That's what
a butler does.
Speaker 2 (08:24):
Well that that that's that. That's a cool butler. Everybody
needs that butler. I mean, listen, if there was an
Alfred you know, to be got, I was like I
would have went after that.
Speaker 3 (08:34):
Listen.
Speaker 2 (08:34):
Okay, you know what, Yeah, I apparently have to be
you know, a billionaire to get that.
Speaker 3 (08:38):
Uh I don't. I don't have anything close to that.
Speaker 2 (08:41):
So uh so, yeah, can I just get keys you
like two days a week from like you know, like
nine to like one am. I mean, I'm not gonna
be back till two, but nine pm to one am,
so I can do my crime fighting at night. It'll
be early. It'll be early' I crime fight until last call?
Speaker 3 (08:57):
Is that? Can you do that?
Speaker 4 (09:02):
Alastalla?
Speaker 3 (09:05):
Oh god?
Speaker 2 (09:06):
Okay, this is where the delirium sits in right because
we got in probably that concert was long and then
like you know it was and then we I mean
we had it was fourteen girls total. That's a lot.
That's a lot of teenage energy.
Speaker 4 (09:26):
That's a lot of useful energy.
Speaker 3 (09:28):
Oh oh man, it was. It's wild.
Speaker 2 (09:31):
It's wild and so but I mean, but you know what,
all the girls were sweet, All the girls were nice,
and you know, it was a really good group. You know,
you always worry about, hey, what type of friends does
my kid have, you know, and who they hang out with.
Speaker 3 (09:46):
But honestly, all those.
Speaker 2 (09:48):
Girls super respectful, you know, very you know, yes, sir, no, sir,
thank you, sir, you know that that type of stuff.
I mean, just very very nice girls. So so that
you know that, that makes it a lot easier, you know.
And then of course with Tate McCray comes on and
she's just bat's an eyelash.
Speaker 3 (10:03):
They lose their mind.
Speaker 2 (10:04):
But you know that, but that, but I mean, but
that that's also an experience that you know, my daughter
could say she had with her friends on her birthday.
It was a significant moment for her. So, you know,
happy with all of that. Uh now, I know we
will talk about, uh all all of the trades and
(10:27):
everything else that went on a little bit. I do
have to share one bit of personal news. And the
only reason why I share this is because, you know,
he he, he was an awesome guy. And it was
yesterday that I found out that my uncle, my one
(10:53):
of my uncles, Keith Browner Senior, who played you see,
played for the Chargers Tampa Bay Bucks, a long time
uh NFL an Arena football player, passed away. Uh So
that was shortly after our show yesterday.
Speaker 3 (11:14):
It was just a.
Speaker 2 (11:17):
Just a short while afterwards, and I got that that
calls a gut punch, So amidst all the you know,
the fun I had, you know, had to deal with that.
But I do want to make sure that I acknowledge
that if anybody knows my family and my family lineage,
my uncle Keith was actually the youngest, uh of the
(11:37):
well second youngest, I should say, of the boys.
Speaker 3 (11:41):
On the Browner side of the family. And so.
Speaker 2 (11:44):
It was uh and he and you know he that's
why we weren't thinking about anything. So he passed away
peacefully at his home in uh in northern California.
Speaker 3 (11:59):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (11:59):
So, so yeah, dealing with that, I mean, my uncle
Keith was a was awesome. I'm sorry, Max, Yeah, awesome dude,
but long time NFL player and you know, he was
right there with my other you know, my.
Speaker 3 (12:10):
Pops and my uncles. They all went to college.
Speaker 2 (12:14):
You know, there are high school All Americans then he was,
he was he was actually he was actually an All
American at at usc at an outside linebacker and uh yeah,
so so yeah, so I just want to give I
want to give that little little shout out to those
that know my family yet dealing with that one. So yeah,
(12:36):
that's that's a tough one third third third browner man
in five years.
Speaker 3 (12:40):
It's crazy.
Speaker 4 (12:42):
Yeah, I'm sorry to hear that, Max. That's that's that's difficult, man.
And it's just been it's been a rough year in
that regard.
Speaker 5 (12:49):
It feels like we just every time, every time, you know,
it feels like we're getting our head above water. It
feels like somebody else is is unfortunately passing away way
too young.
Speaker 4 (13:01):
So I'm I'm sorry to hear that.
Speaker 5 (13:02):
Man. It's it's an incredible legacy though that you know,
of your your family and and just everything and you
guys accomplished on a on a football grid iron.
Speaker 4 (13:12):
And I mean, yeah, I'm looking here.
Speaker 5 (13:14):
He was, he was, you know, all packed twelve two
different times, was on the All Rookie Team his rookie
season with the Tampa bay Bucks second round draft pick
out of USC. A heck of a heck of a
legacy that that that you all have, and I'm I'm
very sorry to hear that, Partner. I'll be I'll be
praying for you and for your family this week.
Speaker 2 (13:37):
Yeah, now, thanks man, I appreciate it. And you know,
it's just one of those things I was like, you
know when we when we always give this opening salvo here,
you know, you just want to share thoughts of the day,
thoughts of yesterday, and then we dive into, of course
the minutia of all of the things that happened around
the league. Obviously, yesterday no practices for the Steelers as
(14:01):
the official league day off, but we did have Mike
Tomlin talk to and address the media. We'll have some
clips in the next segment kind of talking about that.
And then also you know, big news right trade deadline,
a lot of movement, a lot of people was clearing
house yesterday, and a lot of teams were trying to
(14:21):
bolster and make a playoff run. That of course, we're
talking about what the challenge looks like with the.
Speaker 3 (14:27):
LA Chargers coming up this week.
Speaker 2 (14:29):
They also were active in the trade before the trade
deadline yesterday, so we'll talk about that that trade and
how that affects things as far as how we're looking
at the game on Sunday, I personally don't think it'll
affect it too much, but we'll talk about it because
it is an area that I happened to be near
and dear and close to. So I cannot wait to
(14:52):
dive into this and the rest of the show. Wesley,
and we have a surprise today, Wes. Yeah, we are
officially opening up the phone lines today during our number
two not done all seasons. So Steeler Nation, you asked
(15:12):
for it. You guys kept xing me. No, that doesn't
even sound right, tweeting me and sending messages. I was like, because,
what what is it? What is it when you send
a because like Twitter, you send a tweet, an X,
I don't know, an eraser, I don't.
Speaker 3 (15:28):
Know, I don't know.
Speaker 4 (15:31):
Yeah, but that doesn't sound right.
Speaker 3 (15:34):
That just sounds weird.
Speaker 2 (15:35):
Yeah, you guys posted me or sent messages to my
to my message board and asking about when are you
guys gonna have callers on? Well, your your your wish
has come has come true? Will open up hour two.
I will give the number out of course later in
the later in this first hour. But with that we're
(15:58):
gonna step aside and we'll be back with more here
inside the locker room with King and Stark's annuler here
on SNR Radio.
Speaker 1 (16:14):
This is in the locker Room with King and Starks

Speaker 2 (16:36):
All right, we are back inside the locker room here,
and you know.
Speaker 3 (16:42):
It was a very busy day yesterday, Wes.
Speaker 2 (16:47):
But the Steelers were not that busy. The Steelers stayed put.
They didn't start mortgaging the future trying to get a
quick fix in a rental for a year or so.
Speaker 3 (16:59):
They said, No, we got Kyle Dugart. We're good.
Speaker 2 (17:02):
We dig him is what they kind of came up with.
And I tell you what, I'm starting to dig him too.
I mean, he he played it. I mean think about this,
four days it's all he had figure it out, communicate,
do all of these things. And I think, you know,
Mike town kind of talked about that, addressed that in
(17:23):
his press conference, you know, but you know, I do
want to I do want to get to Steelers News
first and then we can go around the NFL after
that with all these trades, because it is a laundry
list of trades that we're gonna have to read. And
you know, I feel like I need the micro machine
man voice to get through it because there's so much
(17:44):
stuff and I just wanted to be through as fast
as possible.
Speaker 3 (17:47):
But I digress. I will never get to.
Speaker 2 (17:51):
That point, you know, where I can read really really
fast and good. I feel like Derek Zulan to go
to the school good looking, yeah, really really good looking people.
But yet you know, it was Derek Zulander school for
kids who can't really read really good and stuff.
Speaker 4 (18:12):
I want to learn to do other stuff good too.
Speaker 2 (18:14):
Yeah, well I want to learn to do other stuff good.
But but no, I do want to go to I'd
love to get coach Coach Tomlin and kind of talk
about the press conference yesterday, some of the highlights of
the things that were noteworthy.
Speaker 3 (18:28):
So the first clip I want to play.
Speaker 2 (18:31):
I just want to give you the intro for those
that did not get to hear the beginning of the
Mike Thimelin press conference.
Speaker 3 (18:36):
Here it is right here.
Speaker 6 (18:38):
Over All the three phases of the game that was
significant was our ability to minimize Uh their outstanding running
back Taylor. Their offensive unit certainly had been on fire.
They had punted I think sixteen times in eight ball games.
You know, their success is well documented, but it all
(19:00):
from our perspective. Stem from their ability to run the ball,
to stay on schedule, to minimize one dimensional pass and circumstances.
It allowed them to stay one step ahead of the
defensive units usually, it allowed them to minimize the potential
of negativity, and doing so they protected the ball. I
think they'd only turned the ball over four times on
(19:21):
the season, and so a major component of the game
for us was was altering that, making them absorb some
more risk, having them be a more one dimensional pass
and circumstances, hopefully forcing them to punt a little bit more.
All of those things stemmed from my ability to minimize
the run game, and so just wanted to restate that
(19:43):
I thought largely we played complimentary football as well. Once
we started taking the ball away, the offense started scoring.
I think we put in put on two quick touchdowns
in the first half off of turnovers.
Speaker 3 (19:57):
It didn't always start that way.
Speaker 6 (19:59):
I thought that our inability to score when we when
we got that turnover in the special teams game was
a significant component early component of the game. And from
a negative perspective, and so complimentary football is big. Stopping
the run is big. Uh, the takeaway game obviously is
always big. These are core values man, that you know
(20:22):
that we hold and and certainly worked toward. And we
saw the fruit of that labor in stadium in terms
of how the game unfolded.
Speaker 3 (20:32):
All right, that was that?
Speaker 2 (20:33):
That was That was Mike t talking about just kind
of how the game unfolded against you know, a very
good Indian that was Colt's team, and what was necessary
and kind of what the tail.
Speaker 3 (20:45):
Of the tape looked like.
Speaker 2 (20:46):
I mean, you knew what it was wes come of
getting this game that you needed to stop Jonathan Taylor right,
he was he was he was.
Speaker 3 (20:54):
He was a straw that stirred.
Speaker 2 (20:55):
The drink for that offense and allowed Daniel Jones to
be Indiana gys And you know, the defense went out shorthanded,
uh you know, new additions, and they went out there
and they played like it was I mean, you know,
you know, you never want to throw around a phrase
(21:18):
it was it was at least a steel curtain shower
rod you know what I'm saying, version of that at least,
you know, because I can't say steal, I can't call
them steal curtain esque. Uh well, I guess I could
say esk and that kind of gives me away. It's
like the dot dot dot when when when journalists write
an article, no, this is a great game dot dot dot,
(21:39):
but they sucked. It's like, wait a second, whoa, whoa, wha,
where's the context? Context loss to the dot dot dot.
There there was a little bit of liberty there. But
but I think in this type of fashion you can
say they absolutely kicked their butts offensively. You know, they
didn't have an answer. They didn't they could not figure
(21:59):
out all of the multiple front deployments personnel groupings. And
that was the one thing that I think gave the
Steelers that quote unquote anonymity or ambiguousness of their offense
of the defense, and it just screwed up the timing.
It screwed up what Daniel Jones wanted to do. Like
(22:20):
you said, you know, Jonathan Taylor, I think, didn't he
finish the first half of forty five yards rushing?
Speaker 3 (22:27):
And then I believe so craveyards rushing.
Speaker 4 (22:30):
I believe so are pretty pretty stinking close at least.
Speaker 2 (22:34):
Yeah, pretty stinking close. And like I said, I mean,
and there was no answer. And you know, the Steelers
for all of that great work. Also they forced Daniel
Jones to pass the ball fifty times West fifty now
fifty and you had once again, this is almost like
and these are from around the league NFL fans. This
(22:56):
reminds me of when Philly was on their their losing streak.
They could not figure out which way was up when
it came to when it came to trying to, you know,
beat the Denver Broncos. I was there and they would
not hand the ball off to Saquon Barkley, which was
(23:18):
just absolutely beyond me. I was like, you have that
perfectly good weapon sitting there and you don't utilize them. Now,
the difference here is, you know, they tried to utilize
him and try to get him going, but it was
all for not because the Steelers were on Jonathan Taylor
anytime he tried to run up the hole. They were
(23:40):
their longest run rush of the day with nine yards
in total. You know, he's used to ripping off double
digit runs at will, and especially in like the second
half of games, but because you were playing so much
catch up, they could not figure out a way to
incorporate him because they had to keep passing the ball. Now,
(24:02):
I mean you did, you know, try and get a
couple of passes.
Speaker 3 (24:07):
His way, and he did cares both of those.
Speaker 2 (24:10):
You know, he was two for two for seventeen twelve yards, sorry,
two for two for twelve yards. Longest was seven years.
So Jonathan Taylor did not have a double digit yardage play.
Speaker 4 (24:24):
Yeah, no explosive plays.
Speaker 3 (24:27):
None that. Man.
Speaker 2 (24:29):
Once again, I don't know how many gold stars I
can give out for the day, but you know, they
get another gold star boom. They've gotten a gold star
for the last three days in a row because of
that performance on Sunday, And man, it was fun to watch, right.
Speaker 5 (24:45):
It, sure it sure was, Max And I think even
particularly like now, and you know, in hindsight and the
game being what three three days or so behind us here,
I think It's even more impressive what they were able
to do when you consider that they didn't have the
greatest start, right like they they give up a you know,
thirteen play touchdown drive to the Colts on their first possession.
(25:08):
Ends with that Daniel Jones push push on fourth down.
A couple chances to get off the field on that possession,
they're unable to do it. You fall down seven to
nothing after the offense goes three and out, and you're like,
oh man.
Speaker 4 (25:20):
Then the offense goes three and out again, right.
Speaker 5 (25:23):
And and you're like, oh man, well up, they muffed
the punt. Okay, we're gonna be fine. It's all good.
We got the break we needed. We're right back in this.
The offense turns the ball over on downs then Max,
So the Colts are up seven to nothing.
Speaker 4 (25:37):
They already dodged a.
Speaker 5 (25:38):
Major bullet and they're on their fourteenth play of the
next drive before TJ. Watt completely flips the game around
with that strip sack fumble recovery. I mean, now it's
it's you know, you for six turnovers, five of them
on defense. You limited Jonathan Taylor, you limited Tyler Warren.
You frustrated that Colts offense like that hadn't been frustrated
(26:01):
all season, but there was a point early on where
it looked like it might have gone the other way.
That's what I love to see. Even despite a less
than ideal start for this Steelers defense, they still had
that over my dead body attitude. And then starting in
the second quarter, they force a fumble, they get that
like with TJ. Watt on the strip sack like we
(26:23):
just talked about. Next possession, Peyton Wilson interception, bang bang.
They set the Steelers up for two touchdowns. All of
a sudden, you're in the lead fourteen to seven. What
does the defense do? Boom three and out for the Colts' offense.
So it's like the Colts were in this position of
we're in the lead seven nothing, Steelers.
Speaker 4 (26:41):
Aren't moving the football.
Speaker 5 (26:42):
Here we come again with another fourteen play drive turnover,
and then our next possession turnover, and then our next
possession three and out, and then our first possession to
open the third quarter, we're gonna punt like it. It
was a just a complete one to eighty from this
Steelers defense. Like you mentioned, h you know, gold star
for everybody involved. It's a real old cliche, Max, but
(27:05):
it's like you hear it.
Speaker 4 (27:06):
You know, hitting in.
Speaker 5 (27:07):
Baseball is contagious. Turnovers and football are contagious, and man,
has that been the case with this team. We saw
that against New England, we saw that against Indianapolis. They
are like if you give a mouse a cookie, you
give them an inch, they're going to take a mile.
And to do it against that offense, especially Max, which
had just four turnovers in eight games going into that one.
(27:30):
They were averaging half a turnover a game. And you
force that offense into five one on special teams as well,
that's just that's just fantastic stuff.
Speaker 2 (27:41):
And by putting, by forcing the ball into Daniel Jones's hand,
all five of those came at his cost, right at
his decision made yes whether whether you know on the
strip seck whether to actually get the ball out, because
let's face it, you're a right handed quarterback. The guy
is rushing from your offensive right, you should see him right,
but he doesn't. And strip sack, fumble, forced fumble recovered,
(28:08):
and you know t. J. Watt had had a triple
statter on that one. But then you know, like you said,
the other ones, right, that one to Peyton Wilson, you know,
trying to throw that check down and uh and Peyton
was just sitting back in the zone and just reading
the eyes of Daniel Jones and then reacting in a heartbeat.
Was pretty phenomenal to watch. But you're right, I mean
(28:31):
it was it was something that every time you felt
the Colts were about to do something, big play happens
right held swapping, you know, good energy type of play.
And that was what was impressive to see. And because
you saw sometimes where hey the pastor's not heading okay bo,
and we gotta get done, you know, we we we
(28:52):
have to we have to do something different, we have
to adjust and no, it was like, hey, we're gonna
sell out to stop this run. And guess what, we
are going to change up the coverages. So Daniel Jones
needs an extra second. He can't get it out like
Joe Flacco was doing. We needed him to just hold
the ball for a half a second longer. And then
(29:12):
you go from the get near guy to the get
there guy. And that's TJ. Watt is squarely a get
there type of guy. I mean, just look at the resume, right,
I mean, going into that game, you know, having one
hundred and twelve career sacks. Ridiculous number to even say
(29:33):
out loud. I mean those are like video game numbers,
like that's my dynasty on auto mode, when you know
all your players are like a ninety nine. I mean
that the amount of stats that he has over his
career are literally legendary stuff. And you're talking about Hall
of famers who have the only similar stats like that.
(29:53):
So for TJ, you know, he was just absolutely phenomenal.
I know, we went over it like after the and everything,
we talked about, oh here's here's who was good and
here's who wasn't. But you know, TJ now moves that
much closer to breaking his brother's record. He was at
two and a half behind going into the game. He
(30:15):
added one, so now you're looking at one thirteen and
now one and a half sacks away. His brother had
one hundred and fourteen and a half or one hundred
and fourteen sacks, and then you know, for him, two
whole sacks puts him ahead one and a half sack
ties his brother. His brother was intended, so I was
I was hoping it was going to happen then, but hey,
he chipped closer. It was it was not a goose
(30:38):
egg for one TJ. Watt and I thought that was
really cool. Before we get to break West, I do
want to make sure we get to this last Tom
mcclipp react and then we'll hit the brake. But if
just is ready injuries coming out of coming out of
the game, you know, and kind of of what to
(31:00):
forecast for the week, I think it'll be a good
little precursor to what we're gonna talk about with with
the with with the Chargers. So yeah, let's let's let's
roll that clip real fast. And here from Coach Styland
about injuries.
Speaker 6 (31:12):
You know, from a health standpoint, we had a number
of things going on with people. Don't have a lot
of significant updates. I'm certain uh that I will get
more clarity as we push forward through the week. Scotty
Miller is out with his finger. We'll see how he's
able to function at some point this week with that.
(31:32):
Cole Holcom is still out with his illness. Will keep
an eye on him and see what his level of
participation is. Isaac Ciamalo is still uh nursing a peck
like he was managing at the early portions of last week,
and he was able to function for us, Pep's got
a soft tissue injury. Chuck Clark is sick, he should
be returning to us. And then we have some other
(31:53):
bumps and bruises associated with play that may limit some
people at the beginning of the week, but not prevent
them from practicing and participating as we push forward through
the week as we always do. One man's misfortune is
another man's opportunity. We'll get taking as an opportunity to
grow and develop some others and ready ourselves in that way.
Speaker 3 (32:17):
Yeah you heard that.
Speaker 2 (32:19):
I mean that was a laundry list, right, you know,
no Cole Holcomb, no Jabrill Peppers, no Chuck Clark, no
Cole Holcom.
Speaker 3 (32:26):
I mean it was it was. It was just like and.
Speaker 2 (32:28):
Then you already were without Deshaun Shawn Watson, Jesus Shawn
Elliott as well. Jeez, that that name right, right exactly? Yeah,
Cleveland's on my mind, not but you know, just this
squad and that that's what that's what prompted the the
addition of cal Duggar.
Speaker 3 (32:47):
And so you go in that.
Speaker 2 (32:49):
Game and you're like, man, we don't have our full
compliment of guys, and you know, to come out there
and play the way that they did. Uh, you know,
just just once again, tip of the cap. I know
Aaron was a little frustrated they didn't put up more
points in that moment because of how well the defense played.
But that's also a competitor right there. You know, you're
always gonna look at, you know, what can we do
(33:12):
better and you know, to attain victory, how can we
do it more efficiently? And I think that's where you
look at the next step. The volume was there on
Sunday and that's what led to you know, jumping out
on them early, kind of keeping your your your your
thumb on them for most of that game. And uh,
you know, guys paid the price. Isaac Ciamalo obviously peck
(33:35):
issue he's still dealing with. And you know Spencer came
in and played. At least they got some of the
jumbo stuff in there. You know, this time around, you
know they were moving there. They move Spencer a lot
more than you know they did initially, Right.
Speaker 3 (33:50):
He was stagnant before. Now they're like, hey, he could
be an h back, he can double move.
Speaker 2 (33:55):
I mean you know, it was like, wow, okay, they've
expanded this. So it's going to be interested to see
Isaac's injury. That obviously affects that part of the run
game if Isaac is unavailable, And he.
Speaker 3 (34:06):
Said, beginning of the week, a lot of guys are.
Speaker 2 (34:07):
Gonna be under the rest radar to get ready for
late in the week and also a trip to the
West coast. So it's gonna be it's gonna be really interesting,
you know, as we take on the charge and we'll
start to like preview that, but we're gonna hit around
the league coming up next here inside the locker room.
You're inside the locker room with King and Starks and

Speaker 2 (35:04):
Oh, right back inside the locker rooms.
Speaker 3 (35:09):
And man, it.
Speaker 2 (35:11):
Was furious yesterday. I was, I was I'm not gonna
lie I was. I was a little bit nervous, you know,
with uh, with just all that that went down yesterday.
Speaker 3 (35:24):
You know, we we had just a.
Speaker 2 (35:26):
Lot of a lot of craziness, you know, with with
where we were with everything, and and I'm just like,
you look at it, and you're just like, man, the
trade deadline is never this crazy, Wes.
Speaker 3 (35:42):
You know what I'm saying, Like there's a couple, there's like.
Speaker 2 (35:45):
One maybe two moves you know that are like of significance.
But I mean, but you're talking about literally yesterday we
had one, two, three, four, five, six, seven eight. I
haven't stopped at nine, ten, eleven, twelve transactions yesterday. And
(36:09):
then that's not even including the ones that had to
get confirmed from you know, from the day before, because
we had two of those the day before. But you know,
just I want to run I want to run through these,
you know as we as we kind of get ready
and then of course power our number two. Of course,
(36:29):
a Wednesday would not be a Wednesday if it wasn't
a wex Wednesday.
Speaker 3 (36:32):
You know what I'm saying, We'll have hump Day.
Speaker 2 (36:35):
We'll have hump Day headlines with with Jim Wexel to
start off, our number two. But okay, so we were
sitting there, We're like, okay, well, what teams.
Speaker 3 (36:50):
You know are going to fire sale?
Speaker 2 (36:51):
Right, Which teams are going to be in the market
to get to offload to retool and rehaul and and
and which teams are trying to make the all in push, right,
You're trying to push their chips to the middle of
the table to make a run at the super Bowl.
Speaker 3 (37:06):
Because this year, of any years, it seems like the.
Speaker 2 (37:11):
Parody and the the levels are kind of balanced. It
just depends on what day of the week it is real, yes,
honestly for who's going to be good and who's not
going to be good? And I think that's kind of
where we're at with this.
Speaker 3 (37:26):
So we'll just go through these. Uh you know, the.
Speaker 2 (37:29):
Dolphins have had a very very trying is that is
that good?
Speaker 3 (37:36):
Where west? Trying year? They've had very fair.
Speaker 5 (37:41):
Way to put it might be a fair way to yeah, tasty, trying,
turbulent yet turbulent.
Speaker 2 (37:47):
Uh you know you know there dare I say, uh,
you know, uh, Rocky, it's a rocky road for them.
Speaker 3 (37:56):
And we're not talking about the ice cream.
Speaker 2 (38:00):
So the Dolphins were in the business and here's the
other part. These those pesky Philadelphia Eagles, bud those teams
over there.
Speaker 3 (38:09):
In the East. You know, they just table geez, come on,
not again.
Speaker 2 (38:16):
So they they trade for Jalen Phillips uh to the Dolphins.
And you're like, okay, here we go again. You know
you you you lost your pass rush you know, a
year ago and from a year ago, and so now
you're now you're going in bowlstring because you know, Miami's
not going anywhere. They're dead in the water, especially after
that Thursday night game against Baltimore. Uh, momentum had completely
(38:40):
shifted out of their way.
Speaker 3 (38:42):
So they trade for Jalen Phillips. Uh. You have.
Speaker 2 (38:47):
This is one that I guess because of that Chicago
Bears meltdown. This prompted them to say that we're this
is not our here.
Speaker 3 (38:55):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (38:56):
The Cincinnati Bengals trade Logan Wilson to the Cowboys. Now
that is significant because that's one less guy we have
to see, you know in two weeks when the Bengals
come to town.
Speaker 3 (39:13):
So they trade at the Cowboy.
Speaker 2 (39:15):
Now here's my thing is the Cowboys are pushing their
chips at the table for what why.
Speaker 5 (39:23):
You know, why three or four three or four games
behind Philly already the NFC Wild Card race.
Speaker 4 (39:31):
I mean, forget about it, like exactly.
Speaker 2 (39:37):
Yeah, yeah, that's what That's what Jerry Jones wants to do.
Speaker 4 (39:42):
That's what they want to do.
Speaker 5 (39:44):
I mean, immediately after Max I'm sure you heard him
say it, immediately after they lost that Monday night game
to Arizona, Jerry Jones was like, we're still all in,
like we're still we're still going for it this year.
I mean, God bless them, but I I think you
need a much more haul on that defense.
Speaker 4 (40:02):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (40:02):
Quentin Williams is fantastic, He's a great player, but is
he really is.
Speaker 4 (40:06):
He really going to change your defense?
Speaker 2 (40:10):
You know, legs, Is that what he's gonna do? Because
Harrison was ridiculous. Yeah, quin Williams can't stop that.
Speaker 5 (40:21):
No, and he can't you know, he can't run with it.
We can't rate exactly right, can't run with Marvin Harrison Junior.
And you know, listen, I think Logan Wilson is a
fine player, but there's also just something funny on the
surface of Dallas saying we gotta we gotta get a
couple of pieces and fix our defense. And one of
them is from like the only defense in the league
that is worse than theirs currently in the Cincinnati Bengals.
(40:46):
It's listen, if Dallas wins that game against Arizona, I
think they what they still be four four and one. Okay,
at that point you can kind of tell you can
kind of tell yourself you're still in it.
Speaker 4 (40:57):
Three five and one is a completely different story.
Speaker 2 (41:01):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (41:02):
I I understand Dallas never wants to go away. Uh
you know, I think kind of being at the forefront
of conversation to them a lot of times is just
as important as winning football games. So maybe mission accomplished
by them in that regard. But yeah, it just it
seems like a lot of collecting football cards for for
the Dallas Cowboys, you know.
Speaker 4 (41:21):
Max, just big shiny names.
Speaker 5 (41:24):
And cool football cards as opposed to really trying to
to build the best possible team.
Speaker 2 (41:31):
I mean, and you do that through the draft, You
do that through systematic you know, uh, building that way,
and then and then you go and you fill in
the the lighter parts with the veterans, right, Uh, you
don't go in desperation after it. Like literally there there's
there's very bleak of hopes for that team. And it
(41:54):
wasn't like it was just a deep The offense looked
dead in the water.
Speaker 3 (41:58):
I mean that was the.
Speaker 2 (41:59):
Other thing that even they were like, uh, you know,
this was the league's most efficient offense just four weeks ago, right,
you know, like, oh man, you know they can't get
anything on defense, this offense will be five. The offense
was just as bad on Monday night, Ceedee Lamb was
you know, very nonchalant going on a comeback route. They're
(42:20):
batting balls down, George Picking, stepping out of bounds. I
mean all kinds of stuff that was just very uncharacteristic.
But hey, nonetheless, you kind of previewed it. You had
the Quinn Williams trade from the Jets, and then the
Cowboys traded back to the Jets. Yeah, you know with
with Mozzie Smith, I'm like, oh, we gotta get something
(42:41):
on defense on this. But I will say this the Jets, man,
oh man, dude, they have firepowered in this draft, this
draft of next year's draft, they have five first round
picks between the net Over the next two years, he had.
Speaker 4 (42:55):
A bunch of second rounders as well.
Speaker 2 (42:57):
Too, and a humongous amount of second rounders and compensatories Yeah.
Speaker 4 (43:03):
It's gonna be interesting.
Speaker 5 (43:04):
I mean, now, this is one of those like you
just you just gave a bunch of you just gave
a bunch of money to invest to the guy who
just likes to buy crypto and blow it all.
Speaker 2 (43:14):
Yeah, but can't wait for that she sheba u coin
to come out.
Speaker 4 (43:21):
I'm not I'm not saying that.
Speaker 5 (43:23):
I'm not saying that the Jets will fumble all this
excellent draft capital that they have right now. But it
wouldn't surprise me if the Jets fumbled all this excellent
draft capital that they have right now.
Speaker 3 (43:34):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (43:34):
Let me just look here at the at the forecast.
Oh yeah, cloudy and a chance of meatballs out there
in New York for the Jets. But an Aaron Glenn listen,
a new guy at the head of the ship, right,
you know, Aaron Glenn is gonna he's gonna get every
opportunity to build this roster in his own image. And
(43:55):
that's the one thing I can say that I haven't
seen really from the Jets lately, like giving a coach
this many resources to kind of right the ship. So
you know, there is a possibility. I don't want to
completely poo poo on the Jets from that perspective, because
trust me, everybody else has over the last like I
(44:15):
don't know, since Super Bowl three, since Joe Namath was there,
have kind of done that. I mean, Rex Ryan did
give him some relevancy. They went into the AFC Championship
game a couple of times. But yeah, man, it's a
far cry and they've got a lot.
Speaker 3 (44:28):
Of things to pick up.
Speaker 2 (44:29):
And you just you just dug yourself in a bit
of a deeper hole, uh by trading away two of
your biggest defensive pieces, one in sauce Gardener and the
other in Quinnen Williams.
Speaker 3 (44:39):
And sauce Gardner goes to the cult.
Speaker 2 (44:42):
So glad that happened a week after our game.
Speaker 4 (44:45):
That's right, that's Max.
Speaker 5 (44:47):
That's another that's another piece of prop that's another piece
of propaganda we can spread this week. The Steelers made
the Colts panic and go trade two first round draft
picks for sauce Gardner.
Speaker 3 (44:57):
Yeah, exactly exactly. They were there.
Speaker 2 (45:00):
They were so worried after playing the Steelers that they
couldn't get the ball down the field that they went
and got sauce Gardener. So and I mean, and and
in reality, the Colts obviously have been battling a number
of injuries in the secondary. They lost a lot of
guys in their secondary, so I mean it makes it
makes it fun. But hey, hey, let's add our own
(45:21):
spin to the headline, right, We're allowed. We're allowed to
spin do a spin job on our on the headlines
for our benefit.
Speaker 4 (45:27):
Steelers. Steelers made the team with the best record of
the NFL.
Speaker 2 (45:30):
Panic exactly, I mean the and the and the hey,
book it, book it right there, you heard it here first.
But yeah, and also, do we want to see Sauce
Gardener a second time? We already saw him once and then
we won that game. Uh, so I'm not worried about
seeing Sauce a second time. Yeah, we're good. There, We're
good there, all right, moving right along. Okay, another another trade.
Speaker 3 (45:54):
The Colts traded back to the Jets.
Speaker 2 (45:56):
So once again we see this where the teams have
like made trades and they were like independent of those
ad Mitchell and Mitchell just to the jests, ooh, they
have another receiver that doesn't know across the gold line with.
Speaker 3 (46:13):
The ball in his hand.
Speaker 2 (46:14):
Anyways, But but we have a couple more. We'll get
back to those on the other side. But of course
first we got a break because we got coming up.
We got the man himself, we got mister Jim Wexel
coming in for Wex Wednesday with our hump Day headlines.
We'll have that and more on the other side of
this at the top of the next hour here inside
(46:34):
