Speaker 1 (00:07):
This is in the Locker Room, presented by Ford and
brought to you by acro Sure, the official insurance and
cybersecurity partner of the Pittsburgh Steelers, by Bett MGM, Huntington Bank,
p n C, PEPSI, and by FedEx. Where now meets next?
Now here's Craig Wolfley and Max Stark's.
Speaker 2 (00:31):
All right, we're inside the power hour.
Speaker 3 (00:40):
No optimist, I need drop the drop the bag, drop
the bag.
Speaker 2 (00:45):
I need glove.
Speaker 3 (00:47):
No, you know, you try and he's trying to. He
is so focused on the job. You know, God, I
appreciate it. He is undeterred.
Speaker 2 (00:58):
Under tiered, under tiered.
Speaker 3 (01:00):
Yeah, here is Yeah, he is under teared. But also,
you know, we want to make sure that we open
up the other phone lines. We've got to do that
at the end because you know, we have Missy on.
But as we know, the phone number line is four
one two nine one nine one three one.
Speaker 2 (01:16):
Six Steelers Nation.
Speaker 3 (01:18):
We want to hear from you because obviously next week
we'll have a lot of things.
Speaker 2 (01:21):
But what are you most excited for? Steelers?
Speaker 3 (01:25):
Wise, all I want for Christmas is a Steelers what
And we're opening up to the Christmas weekend obviously, Christmas.
Speaker 2 (01:34):
Day we had that k C game. But you know,
what are you what are.
Speaker 3 (01:39):
You hoping for for this Steelers Christmas?
Speaker 2 (01:43):
We want to hear your.
Speaker 3 (01:44):
Thoughts out there on the phone line, so we're going
to open those up throughout the rest of this hour.
Speaker 2 (01:51):
But you know, Wolf, I think we should started off.
Speaker 3 (01:54):
You know, absolutely, what would you like for your Steelers
Christmas present to be?
Speaker 2 (01:59):
This year?
Speaker 4 (01:59):
We start off where I started off the program. I
want to see havoc plays. Havoc plays being sacks, tackles
for loss, forced fumbles, interceptions, pass is broken up by
our defense, and notably by the number one purveyor of
havoc plays. That would be TJ. Watt, who leads the
league with twenty seven total. I'd like to see him go,
(02:20):
you know, have a big day.
Speaker 2 (02:22):
You know that.
Speaker 4 (02:23):
I was so the whole week. Basically I felt like,
oh man, he's probably not going to play. You know,
I don't know how you rebound off an ankle, you know,
like that so quickly. I mean, it's different for guys
like you and me. You know, we basically tape your
ankle up like a ski boot and it doesn't really
hamper you all that bad unless you get out and
have to hoof it on in the flats, you know
(02:44):
what I mean. But you know, yeah, a guy like
TJ who's got to bend to be able to get
that pass rush, you know, duck under the ghost move
whatever you want to call it, that's a more difficult
thing to do. So I'm hoping and praying that today
he's okay number one, but number two, that we get
those havoc plays create that pressure that creates.
Speaker 2 (03:05):
Rule number one with one of the rules.
Speaker 4 (03:08):
With with Lamar, and that is to rush his reeds,
rush his option, reads, his everything, make him rush, because
I think that's when he makes he has problems, no and.
Speaker 2 (03:20):
And I think that I think that's a perfect gift
to ask uh bo or no bo on that on
that on that present.
Speaker 4 (03:27):
Oh, I think with a bow, you know, which means
you got to have a couple of those. You know,
you put a bow on it and it, yeah, gets
you put.
Speaker 2 (03:34):
It all together, right, you know there's multiple pieces.
Speaker 3 (03:38):
You put the bow in there. It keeps it all together. No,
I got got you, I got you, I got it.
Speaker 2 (03:42):
How about?
Speaker 3 (03:44):
All I want for Christman from the Steelers is angry
Naji to come back dashing through the snow, and there's
no snow.
Speaker 2 (03:53):
Going to be on the ground for this game.
Speaker 3 (03:54):
There might be for the case game, you know, and
a one man running play.
Speaker 2 (04:01):
You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 3 (04:02):
Oh thatunds good. I haven't worked out the rest of
the lyrics, but that's a good start. Yeah, I need
to I need to see angry runs back. I need
I need to see I need to see nause just
stiff arming a guy into the dirt after Like, you know,
I'm not asking for sakuad. I'm not asking for the
QT like I'm gonna spin move off of you do
a reverse alley, you twist, you know, triple axual LUTs.
(04:25):
But's just run through a guy's face, you know, and
then go for like an additional like ten yards.
Speaker 2 (04:31):
You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 3 (04:32):
I missed those runs. Those are the runs that I
would love to have. An offensive line just mauling a
raven defensive lineman, you know, in.
Speaker 2 (04:41):
The process, no doubt, you know.
Speaker 3 (04:43):
And I think the bow should be an AFC North
Division title shirt.
Speaker 2 (04:47):
That should that should wrap it all together, you know,
just just thinking, you know, thinking outside.
Speaker 3 (04:52):
The box here, you know, no doubt about it. But
that's what I'd like to see, Wes. What is your
Steelers wish a.
Speaker 2 (05:02):
Home playoff game? There we go, look at that. It's
been too long. I like that. Listen.
Speaker 5 (05:08):
I know this doesn't mean as much for Max because
he's got to travel regard. In fact, Max probably wants
us to play in Houston against the Texans because that's
as close as.
Speaker 2 (05:17):
But what a dolt a dome? A dome for a
playoff game? What that's let's ludicrous.
Speaker 3 (05:23):
Why would I ever ask for something as comfortable as seventy.
Speaker 5 (05:28):
And really has to fly half as far and not
all the way across the country.
Speaker 2 (05:34):
You mean no connections? What I don't understand this. You
guys are silly.
Speaker 6 (05:38):
Max.
Speaker 2 (05:39):
It's to ask that type of request.
Speaker 5 (05:40):
It's been too long, in my best Irish voice, since
the Steelers had a proper home playoff game, all right,
That twenty twenty COVID game against the Browns with seven
thousand people in attendance doesn't count.
Speaker 2 (05:53):
All right.
Speaker 5 (05:53):
The Steelers haven't had a proper home playoff game since
twenty seventeen, the Jacksonville Jaguars game. I mean, that's been
a long time, and just me selfishly, we're going to
the playoffs. Okay, I would rather at least start that
journey at home, all right. I got a feeling we're
gonna have to take some flights.
Speaker 2 (06:13):
But give me one at home, all right. Give me that.
Speaker 5 (06:15):
Extra playoff check without having to get on a plane
and leave the family for the weekend and all that stuff.
At the top of my Steelers Christmas wish list is
a home but division championship that gets us the home
playoff game.
Speaker 2 (06:27):
Baby, Okay, you know what I'm here for.
Speaker 3 (06:31):
It, I'm here for I will always sacrifice planes, trains,
and automobiles to get to a Steelers game, and no
better one than the friendly confines of the city. I
know best because I know where I can go get food,
and I know where my hotel room is. I don't
have to guess, and I know what time Zoman is,
So that would actually be the easiest thing, you know.
I mean, I'm not worried about distance. I mean, yeah,
(06:53):
I don't want to go to Houston. I don't want
to go to NRG Stadium and play a game. I
want to be in the the Burg, the Burg with
terrible paths everywhere, you do, I know we do take
over most opposing stadiums, you know, I mean, honestly, if
if Vegas was good enough to get a playoff spot,
(07:14):
I mean, Vegas would be my preferred chote, I mean
of away playoff games.
Speaker 2 (07:18):
I'm just saying, yeah, that is simply im possible.
Speaker 3 (07:23):
That would be playing for the Toilet Bowl Championship if
they were still playing. It's like the Loser's Bracket and
Fantasy football, you know what I'm saying, Like, it's.
Speaker 2 (07:31):
Like the n I Tournament.
Speaker 4 (07:35):
You know, I gotta tell you exactly. My mind just
blanked out when you said the Burg. I was thinking
Steve the Burg, the old quarterback. You know, I'm like,
what's talking about?
Speaker 7 (07:45):
Lord?
Speaker 2 (07:45):
I just that's wait, That's what happens when you get old.
Speaker 4 (07:49):
You know, you remember the exact names of guys that
you played in an era that came even after you
and it was shortly after you retired.
Speaker 2 (07:57):
You know, you said, there go wow, pulling up names like.
Speaker 3 (08:02):
Well, and I just got sent a clip from my
college crew of Dick Enberg saying Indiana. So yeah, so
so we're just going with dub Burg and Burg all
that stuff. A lot of Burgs, but the most important
one in Pittsburgh that's right, That's that's the only dub
Burg we're we're worried about right now. And like you said,
(08:23):
I mean I think, I think all three of us
are speaking the same language. Havoc plays, angry runs lead
to home playoff games. And that's what's on the line
come Saturday at four thirty pm and m T. Banks
Stadium against the Ravens. Is that should be the only
focal boy, that should be the only motivation flowing through
(08:43):
the minds.
Speaker 2 (08:44):
Of the Steelers players.
Speaker 3 (08:45):
I know that's what it was for me back when
I played, Like no, like there is no tomorrow, Like
like why why leave it up to chance when you
can handle it today? And that is what should all
these guys when you're doing your training, you know, going
through these walkthroughs, go studying your playbook on this short week,
(09:08):
like getting as much treatment as possible to make sure
you're as close to your new hundred percent as you can.
Speaker 2 (09:14):
And I think that's the key thing.
Speaker 3 (09:15):
Also, Wolf, you know when you talk about health this
time of year, right, it's not about being one hundred percent,
It's about being at your hundred percent. Yeah, And that
one hundred percent is different for each and every man.
Speaker 4 (09:26):
Right, absolutely, man, I'm I mean back in the day,
it was like you might be injured, but you know,
you're expected to perform at the same level, you know,
if if you weren't injured. And that's why I always
remember before my first playoff game, when I broke my
thumb on the last play of the last practice of
the week, with not even forty eight hours until kickoff,
(09:49):
and I broke my freaking thumb and I'm sitting there
icing it, and Elsie starts laughing, Elsie Greenwood laughing in
the locker room as I'm sitting there with a bag
of ice after practice, I ic in my hand down
sitting and going, oh my goodness, I can't believe I
did this. And he says, all right, boy, now we'll
find out what kind of ball player you are. Anybody
(10:09):
can play this game healthy, Like, I really don't want
to find that out. I'd just like to be able
to play with a full compliment of body.
Speaker 2 (10:16):
Parts, yes, exactly.
Speaker 3 (10:19):
And even then, you know, some of your body parts
are are on borrowed time, you know, I mean, you
know you're just like all right, well, yeah, like listen,
God God saw fit enough to give me a spare
when you have two knees, as as I did in
two thousand and five season and tore my miniscus like
(10:41):
we could actually stay on the tour it against the Ravens.
Speaker 2 (10:43):
Still played tore my laborum.
Speaker 3 (10:46):
Yeah, you know in my left shoulder, I had to
wear like a Gator cuff.
Speaker 2 (10:51):
Uh you know Gator a Gator cuff cater.
Speaker 3 (10:54):
Yeah, hey yeah, the University of Florida is the cuff
that restricts the upper arm movement but allows you to play.
Speaker 2 (11:00):
Still great cuff. Indeed.
Speaker 3 (11:05):
You know also you know that tour myl in the
AFC Championship game against against the Ravens. Once again, there's
a lot of injuries related to the Ravens game. But
you play through those things.
Speaker 2 (11:19):
You know.
Speaker 3 (11:20):
I think another meniscus that tour helading out, I said
on my kneecap one time while I was pushing. Yeah,
so anyways, sorry that was a little bit of trump.
But but the point is you still play wolf. That
was what I's try to get at. You still play
these games, and you know, injuries, you just take stock
and whatever. You know, your one hundred percent is what
(11:40):
you feel is the best that you can give.
Speaker 2 (11:43):
That's what you give.
Speaker 3 (11:44):
You know, whether that looks like seventy percent of a
healthy person, it's one hundred percent of an injured or
or unhealthy person. At that moment, you fight through that
because you know what's at stake, You know what the
prize is at the end of this game. These are
the games where you start playing for for apparel, right,
this is called an apparel game, meaning if you win this,
(12:08):
you get the hats and the T shirts and everything.
You're you're playing for garments, and those are the type
of games that you want to be in at this
time of year. You don't want to be in the
obscurity land. You know, it's like, hey, I'm just playing
for pride. Hey, don't embarrass my family. Hey no, this
this is these are the real ones, because well you
because this apparel leads to further apparel opportunities, and that's
(12:30):
all you can ask for.
Speaker 4 (12:31):
Apparently apparel is really important. How's that.
Speaker 2 (12:40):
Appealing? Apparel is apparently important? Boom boom one up.
Speaker 3 (12:47):
Yeah yeah, so so I mean so Wolf, I mean,
this is this is kind of the mindset, you know,
as we kind of dig into this, and you know,
obviously we'll be taking some call, but I'll also dive
into some of the stats as we get further along.
I don't want to blow it up too much right
now because our show is not about bogging down into
(13:10):
the analysts, but I think it's important to kind of
mention some metrics that will that will kind of further
either you know, enrage or engage the fan base as
you're watching this game tomorrow.
Speaker 2 (13:26):
I am going to say step aside here.
Speaker 3 (13:29):
It was a little bit early on the break, but
I didn't want I didn't want to run over time
because I want to make sure we leave plenty of
time on the back end for the next two segments
to get calls in to the show. So yeah, I know,
I figure we got some. So we'll step aside. We'll
be back. Stay on those phone lines. We appreciate it. Remember,
all I want for Christmas from the Steelers is blank.
(13:51):
That is That is the phrase we'll be going with
when we come back here inside the Locker Room on
the Steelers Audio Network.
Speaker 1 (14:15):
This is in the Locker Room, presented by Ford and
brought to you by acro Sure, the official insurance and
cybersecurity partner of the Pittsburgh Steelers. By Bett MGM, Huntington Bank, PNC,
PEPSI and by FedEx. Where now meets next? Now here's
Craig Wolfley and Max Stark's.
Speaker 4 (14:37):
All right, we're heading to the phone. Four one, two,
nine six. We've got Nathaniel. You're in the locker room.
All I want for Christmas from the Steelers.
Speaker 2 (14:46):
Is what.
Speaker 6 (14:49):
A win tomorrow against the race.
Speaker 2 (14:52):
That's pretty easy. Yeah, okay, I go that. What do
you what specifically?
Speaker 6 (14:58):
Huh, Well, you know, West kind of took my thunder
talking about the home playoff. Uh, you know, we haven't
had a home playoff. Yeah, but I want that too.
But we got to take care of business right at hand.
We do this tomorrow. That's already set. We got that
(15:18):
home playoff game already ready to go. And you know,
we don't have to worry about anything else. We don't
have to try to worry about beating Kansas City and
Cincinnati to get in take care of business at hand
while it's in your hand, and the rest of it
to take care of itself.
Speaker 2 (15:38):
What else do anything else? You got to say, No.
Speaker 6 (15:42):
No, that's the topic of the day. That's that's let's let's.
Speaker 2 (15:45):
Roll with it. That that sounds pretty good there, Yeah,
go ahead back yeah, yeah, no, no, no, I think you're
absolutely right. It's it's like, why why delay something that
that could be airmarked sooner rather than later, right? You know?
Guy kind of look at it like.
Speaker 3 (16:01):
You know, like when I talked to, you know, my
postman back back at my house, I'm like, you know,
I said, how do things get delayed? He's like, he's like, sometimes,
you know, people just don't feel like going out and
delivery again, He's like, but not me.
Speaker 2 (16:13):
He's like, as soon as it's here, I want to
get it out of my kid, I want to take
it off my list.
Speaker 3 (16:16):
And I was like, you know what, I like that
same swang. And he's my postal delivery guy, and he's always,
you know, he's never.
Speaker 2 (16:24):
About the delays. He's like, just get it out as
soon as you get it, so it's less that I
have to deal with later.
Speaker 3 (16:28):
And I think for the Steelers, why I have to
deal with the last two weeks of the season when
you can sew up what you need necessary to guarantee
a home victory to guarantee the division.
Speaker 2 (16:38):
Now, so love that right there.
Speaker 4 (16:41):
Nathanue excellent, Nathaniel, thank you brother, appreciated.
Speaker 6 (16:44):
Mary Christ you guys have a hoppy holiday season and
happy New Year and Merry Christmas, and you know, let's
go get them Steelers.
Speaker 2 (16:52):
You got it. Thanks for calling me, absolutely awesome. Thanks.
Speaker 4 (16:56):
Moving right along, next one up, we got cr cr.
All I want for Christmas from the Steelers is blank?
Speaker 2 (17:03):
What's that?
Speaker 8 (17:05):
I don't want?
Speaker 2 (17:06):
No blank?
Speaker 8 (17:06):
I want to rematch to the Philadelphia Eagles. That's what
I want for Christmas. I know, but I can have
when you are a Christmas present. Sometimes it's not in
the store. You know, it has to go to the
north fold it to do all in sect and balances that.
(17:28):
It's got to take the truck back here and it's
gonna stop in New Orleans and we're gonna be there
with the Philadelphia Eagles. That's what I want for Christmas.
Speaker 2 (17:39):
Okay, Okay, I love it. I love it. Okay.
Speaker 3 (17:43):
So how do we do that? Are we doing this
on the road? Do we do with this at home?
That that's the question. How are we accounted? I need
to give me the standard tracker.
Speaker 8 (17:53):
Okay, okay, okay. Charity begins at home. So the first
thing to make that happen is, of course, tomorrow, take
care of business. Tomorrow, people gonna be getting back healthy.
And I'm telling you, brother, we owe them guys in Philadelphia,
we owe them. That was a national butt whipping in
front of everybody. We need redemption.
Speaker 2 (18:17):
Wow, it's revenge reckoning.
Speaker 8 (18:24):
Yes, I said, I put that out on the on
the on a post. I set you guys one time,
so I hope you got that. Oh and the other
thing too.
Speaker 9 (18:30):
On the serious side, Hey man, I really appreciate all
you guys everything that you've been doing all year. And
to you and your families, I wish they're very, very best.
And I hope that you guys have love and happiness
and enjoy this whole holiday season. To all three of
you guys, you guys are special. Without you, guys, you'd
be surprised how many people out here would be l O. S. T.
(18:51):
Thank you so much for coming to work every day
and putting your heart and soul in what you do
and making us a better organization all the way around.
Speaker 2 (18:59):
Thank you, Thank you so much. CR that really and
thank you. We really do holidays well and you too. Thanks. Thanks.
All right, we're gonna move on, but thanks.
Speaker 8 (19:13):
Against the time. Here we go, Here we go.
Speaker 2 (19:19):
I forget that.
Speaker 3 (19:21):
Indeed exactly, Well, if you got he has to get
he has to get his light out. I mean that
that is a cr catch phrase right there.
Speaker 4 (19:27):
That is indeed. And I want to take a moment
just to say thank you to Steelers Nation. You you
folks are awesome. You know, appreciate the fact that you
let Max and I and Wes we get to come
in and spend time with you guys each and every
day that you know we're not in the game or
weekdays and stuff. And it's I don't take that lightly.
And it is a privilege to sit where I said.
(19:48):
I know Max you feel the same way. No, I
absolutely do.
Speaker 3 (19:53):
And you know, when you know that you have the
listeners you know, like the see ours Nathaniels at circus,
George just sarcastic Sores and all of Feeler Nation really
you know, across this great country and we've had we've
had callers all the way from the down Under to
know that, you know, you guys appreciate what we do
because we truly love what we do and we love
(20:15):
you know, bringing you you know, information, insights and of
course getting to talk about the game that we love
on a daily basis. You give us that platform, you
give us the ability to do those type of things,
and that's why it's never hard for me, depending on
whatever time zone I'm in or whatever times that I've
been in, you know, to come on these airwaves, because
(20:35):
this is truly a special place, and.
Speaker 2 (20:38):
Uh, we feel the love and we just want to,
you know.
Speaker 3 (20:41):
Show our appreciation to you all during this holiday season
and truly appreciative and thankful for all that you guys
bring to us and that you give to us. I
mean it's almost like you feel kind of selfish in
those ways that you feel like you're undeserving of of
of attention, but you guys give it to us, and
you guys allow us to be ourselves in that process
(21:02):
of delivering our information, our love, and our insights. So
we are truly thankful this holiday season a nation.
Speaker 2 (21:10):
Amen to that. All right, we're gonna move along here.
Speaker 4 (21:12):
We got Everett, I believe in the locker room here, Everett,
you're next up.
Speaker 10 (21:17):
Wow, that got sappy all of a sudden.
Speaker 2 (21:20):
Guys, Yeah, you know what, we're back. We're back, you know. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (21:26):
If you could, if you can give a big bear
hugged everybody, I would because you know, I got to
tell you it's special and it is a privilege and
we have a lot of fun.
Speaker 2 (21:35):
So uh, you got to put up with the sappiness too.
Speaker 10 (21:38):
Okay, Oh well, we all love you guys, so hang in.
Speaker 2 (21:42):
There, appreciate you.
Speaker 4 (21:42):
So hey, all you want for Christmas from the Steelers
is whatever?
Speaker 10 (21:47):
Well, obviously division crown tomorrow, Okay, Christmas Day, I'll be
at the game, coming over from the fort to witness
a butt whooping on Pat Mahomes. Okay, then, uh, I
think West, I think West probably knows what my third
request is. Taking crack at it. West.
Speaker 2 (22:12):
He just gave you a look. Red. I'm not sure
what it.
Speaker 10 (22:14):
Was loss, Penn State win win.
Speaker 2 (22:24):
That's right, I forgot about that every.
Speaker 10 (22:29):
Yeah. So AnyWho, you guys, keep up the good work.
We all adore you.
Speaker 4 (22:35):
Appreciate your brother. Lots of love back to you, your family,
your bride, and everybody out there.
Speaker 2 (22:41):
Merry Christmas, you two guys, take care you.
Speaker 4 (22:45):
Bet you continuing to move along, we have, of course,
Circus George from Parts Unknown, Florida, where it's got to
be warmer than it is here.
Speaker 2 (22:54):
Circus George Sarasota. Yes exactly, I'm gonna say we know
where he's at. We knows us every time.
Speaker 10 (23:05):
It's well known.
Speaker 2 (23:06):
It's Circus City, USA. Yeah.
Speaker 11 (23:08):
By the way, we are dipping down to forty five tonight,
so I wanted to bring out a light jacket.
Speaker 2 (23:13):
Oh my heavens. Does that shut down in the traffic? No?
It does it does it? Just both your people walking around,
That's all it is.
Speaker 11 (23:26):
There, you go, Nat, I know what Max is wishing for.
He's wishing for two front teeth.
Speaker 12 (23:32):
The way you're selling. I know that was low hanging fruit.
But I had to I know that was low hanging fruit. Yeah,
dang it, DeSantis family. Now you have everybody thinking that
false teeth in the front.
Speaker 2 (23:45):
Anyways, what do I want? I want a home playoff win.
Speaker 11 (23:50):
That's what I want for Christmas.
Speaker 2 (23:52):
I'm not I'm not a very demanding.
Speaker 11 (23:54):
But it starts tomorrow. Win that game. We got a
home game. Otherwise the road become a little bit tough
for winning against the Chefs and the Bungles.
Speaker 2 (24:03):
The chef when that comes up, googly moly, Right, I
love that.
Speaker 11 (24:09):
I I wish you guys all the best for Christmas
and blessings to you and the new Year. I can't
believe we're talking about a new year, right, got a
new year?
Speaker 2 (24:19):
It seems like it was just September, you know what
I mean.
Speaker 11 (24:21):
Actually, my real wish for Christmas is that my grandson
could be here. But this is the first time in
three years that we will not be together for Christmas.
Speaker 2 (24:29):
So that's hard.
Speaker 10 (24:31):
That's hard one.
Speaker 11 (24:31):
And you guys can appreciate that play on holidays often
if you're not always with your family, well you.
Speaker 2 (24:37):
Can't be with your family. It's difficult, man.
Speaker 11 (24:39):
That's well, I've got there'll be thirty of us at
Christmas Day dinner.
Speaker 2 (24:43):
Are you going to break out to You're going to
break out to the cycle? No? For what I got?
You can serve some dinner with while being on a unicycle.
Speaker 11 (24:57):
Huh, there's too many rats. My 's grandkids up getting
run over.
Speaker 3 (25:02):
So yeah, that no one wants to think Christmas in
the er wolf, trying to balance, trying to bring trying
to bring a fruitcake to the table on a unicycle.
Speaker 2 (25:11):
You know how tough of this? Who are you calling
a fruitcake?
Speaker 10 (25:16):
I can play with?
Speaker 2 (25:19):
That was good? That was really good. Anything else circus, George.
Speaker 11 (25:25):
I want to see Max hug Terrell Suggs tomorrow.
Speaker 2 (25:30):
Well, then I'm sorry that one just wished to never
get made. That will never happen.
Speaker 11 (25:37):
That would be like I don't know with uh, with
maybe uh one of the Browns offensive lineman who would
have been Dobler, wasn't he one of them?
Speaker 2 (25:46):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (25:47):
Yeah, I will say this. I will say this. I
actually shook the hands of Randy White at one point.
It was probably the manster. Yeah, it was like good
twenty years after we had retired Max and actually sat
with a mind of flight. Yeah, you know what Randy was.
Speaker 2 (26:03):
He was a nice guy when I.
Speaker 4 (26:05):
Met, you know, yeah Wed, yes exactly, but.
Speaker 2 (26:12):
Great player.
Speaker 3 (26:13):
Yeah, yeah he was.
Speaker 11 (26:17):
I don't know if I would rather see a hug
sugs or not, because neither one of those guys really
need to punch to the gut. Come in for the
hug and lower right on right to the gut and say,
you know what, I changed my mind.
Speaker 2 (26:31):
You know, I'm sorry old habits die hard. That that
the reflex and we win.
Speaker 11 (26:37):
If we win, then I want Wes to come up
with a backup beeper for the sound for the Ravens
going into the playoffs backing in. I want that sound.
Speaker 10 (26:46):
Effect you know, ye like a garbage truck.
Speaker 2 (26:50):
No, we're not going to take no, not for.
Speaker 11 (26:54):
Us for the race to have a nice backup beeper
as our as our Q for Monday.
Speaker 4 (27:01):
Okay, that's not bad. I like that, all right, George,
All right, Mary, George, we appreciate it.
Speaker 2 (27:10):
All right.
Speaker 4 (27:11):
Now, next one up, we got Ozzy. You're in the
locker room. I hope it's Ozzy because I didn't my
glasses on.
Speaker 2 (27:19):
Merry Christmas, guys, Merry Christmas.
Speaker 4 (27:21):
Brother, this is right, yes, sir, Okay, like I said,
and then my glasses on.
Speaker 2 (27:26):
So I took a shot in the dark.
Speaker 13 (27:29):
It's been a while, yes, sir, Southeast Kansas. Yes, I
want to I want to win tomorrow and win against
the chief because I don't want to have to hear
it a work every day.
Speaker 2 (27:38):
Oh yeah, that's right. Uh huh.
Speaker 4 (27:42):
I forget. You know, it's funny, you know you're so
locked in. I don't even think about the Chiefs on Wednesday,
just because of the fact, you know, there's this such
a big game tomorrow, and you know, I keep forgetting. Oh yeah,
that's that's just a few days away.
Speaker 2 (27:55):
Man. That's ridiculous.
Speaker 10 (27:57):
It is ridiculous.
Speaker 13 (27:59):
It's like the COVID year when we played three games
in one eleven.
Speaker 2 (28:02):
Days something like that.
Speaker 3 (28:04):
Yeah, yeah, but this one was actually planned and staying
on schedule versus versus the COVID year where he.
Speaker 2 (28:12):
Kept getting pushed back. Oh yeah, remember I got I
mean when we look.
Speaker 3 (28:16):
Back on that time, it's going to be crazy to
think about what what the hoops we jumped through to
get games played?
Speaker 13 (28:24):
Yeah, it's crazy.
Speaker 3 (28:25):
I'm a chef.
Speaker 13 (28:25):
When the guys, I wasn't worried about the division games
we went five and one last year, but just the
gauntlet playing that Philly we usually it's it's a physical game.
That's their style as well as ours.
Speaker 2 (28:36):
But what do you think about the game tomorrow? Eves?
Speaker 13 (28:40):
I'm disappointed George and Elliott.
Speaker 10 (28:44):
Elliott still outer?
Speaker 2 (28:45):
Is he doubtful?
Speaker 13 (28:46):
Which is I think almost the same thing.
Speaker 2 (28:48):
I think he questionable is what he is? Well, Elliott?
Speaker 10 (28:53):
If t J.
Speaker 13 (28:53):
Watt is the defensive player year, then Elliott should be
defensive player right there with t J. Far as I'm concerned,
Elliott has been a huge piece far as against the run,
and we saw that when he was missing against the
Philly I know we shut him down run and wise,
but he's just an enforcer back there, I think, and
that Lessonan could be Minka so.
Speaker 2 (29:16):
Well DeShawn, Yeah, Deshaun is doubtful. We got confirmation on that.
Speaker 13 (29:20):
So yeah, I got a disappoint in that. But I'm
my Christmas wish is they all get healthy before we
go on the playoff run and win the Super Bowl.
Speaker 4 (29:28):
So I would sure love to have Deshaun there with
Derrick Henry in the in the backfield. Yeah, and well
with Lamar too. It's a it's that's just a bang
bang bang type of affair there, you know, and.
Speaker 13 (29:41):
Then you go ahead, go ahead, go ahead.
Speaker 4 (29:44):
I'm sorry you don't think I'm saying. The third element
to that is you got that crazy Picard, Patrick Ricard,
who's that three hundred pound nose tackle that that also
moonlights as a h back, a full back, in line
tight end, what have you.
Speaker 2 (29:59):
They put him at the point of attack. He's a
pretty darn good blocker, he is. He is.
Speaker 4 (30:03):
Uh, the guy is very physical. And that with Derrick Henry, Wow,
there's just a lot of moving pieces there.
Speaker 13 (30:12):
Yeah, they said, last last three games, Henry has it
hardly got any of yours because but Lamar has been passing.
Speaker 8 (30:18):
So.
Speaker 13 (30:20):
I'm not too worried about Lamar. We got his number,
I mean, I believe in that. So he was definitely
looking forward to the game. I'm not too happy about
the NFL making it where you got to get it
on certain stations and all that, and you got to
buy this and buy that. It's just yeah, I just
want to watch football.
Speaker 2 (30:38):
Yeah, with a big belly food.
Speaker 13 (30:42):
Yeah, there you go, man, Yeah, I did get that.
My wife I told her about the game being tomorrow
and she's what And then so when I tell her
it's not going to be on Christmas as well, she's
not going to be very happy. Put it that way.
But Marry Christmas to y'all. Merry Christmas, West, thank them
(31:03):
to Aussie.
Speaker 2 (31:04):
Thank you, appreciate it. I appreciate it, all right. We
got care you bet you? All right?
Speaker 4 (31:09):
So the next one up is I believe it's Ricky. Ricky,
you're in the locker room. But you're in the locker
room there, my friend. Again, I'm taking a shot because
I again not reaching for my glasses.
Speaker 2 (31:20):
Why not, let's just roll the dice. Here is this Ricky?
Speaker 10 (31:24):
Yes, sir, how y'all doing?
Speaker 1 (31:25):
Ah?
Speaker 2 (31:25):
Doing good. All right, there we go.
Speaker 3 (31:28):
Hey, Marry Christmas, man, Mary Chris to y'all, Merry Christmas America.
Speaker 7 (31:32):
Yout Rick, hey man, No, I'm honestly, I'm just none smoothing.
I've been a little business morning. So pitch no with
the show so early y'all asked one of the guys,
like with y'all Christmas whist for the year in particular? Right,
that's a question, yeah, A My question is just a
win the rest of the game, get to the playoffs.
Through the world.
Speaker 4 (31:52):
What do you think what do you see is the
biggest obstacle tomorrow to the Steelers winning. What do you
got to fix first or have come through in a
big way?
Speaker 7 (32:02):
It's gonna be a slub fish. Yes, keep the marketain
in the pocket, keep him making making make it rat
decision and making making fit. Passion will watch him and
you never know he can get the first of the year.
So just keep Hikotain. We know we'll let they're here
and get his yards. But at the end of the day,
we're gonna we're gonna keep him on a hundred. I
do believe that. So uh and our offense just just
(32:24):
keep moving, just keep moving about whatever game play. Also
USMI got come up with. I just hope we got
got his Session nine. Just keep moving about no matter what, KEP.
Keep the offense on the field, keep defense on the field.
Speaker 2 (32:34):
That's the whole goal.
Speaker 7 (32:34):
We can come out with the win the ball because
it's gonna be kind of tough in Baltimore, but unfortunate
for them, we still own them right now. So we're
just gonna keep that breaker in mind. Hey, we still
gotta just keep it, keep moving about, keep moving stick.
That's what I think.
Speaker 4 (32:47):
Beautiful. Thank you, Rick, You appreciated, brother. Merry Christmas, and
thanks for joining in.
Speaker 7 (32:54):
That's that same thing you drag a lot of coffee.
Will come be right that with you on Christmas Day?
Speaker 2 (32:59):
All right, brother, you know it.
Speaker 4 (33:01):
You know it, baby, you gotta get rebbed up, all right.
Speaker 2 (33:05):
I appreciate it, Ricky, all right, man, that's that's excellent.
You know.
Speaker 4 (33:09):
One of the things about it, the one thing that
concerns me, those two run pluggers they have up front.
You know they got they got Travis Jones, who's a biggen.
But then you got Michael Pierce too. I got to
tell you something you want to talk about a stretched
uni Michael Pearce is like ten pounds of potatoes and
a five pound sack man, you know what I mean.
Speaker 2 (33:27):
It's like, wow, Yeah, he's maxed up.
Speaker 4 (33:29):
That is that's like three hundred and fifty pounds and
he's about six to two or something six ' one.
Speaker 3 (33:36):
That's uh yeah, he's quatty body.
Speaker 2 (33:39):
This is quatty body.
Speaker 4 (33:40):
That's the guy that I like, Oh my goodness him
between him and Travis Jones. But we'll get back with
more when he come back on the other side of
the power. And I'm sorry, we got the penn Ultimate. No,
this is the ultimate, last segment before the game. Coming
up right after this is Max takes over and takes
us two. What's going to be the kickoff because he's
(34:02):
gonna well, he's got a kick off tonight. There's a
lot of things going on here, Max, isn't there A
lot of moving parts, a lot of moving parties. Well,
let's move on out of here. We'll be back after this.
Speaker 1 (34:26):
This is in the Locker Room, presented by Ford and
brought to you by acro Sure, the official insurance and
cybersecurity partner of the Pittsburgh Steelers, by Bett MGM, Huntington Bank, PNC,
PEPSI and by FedEx. Where now meets next? Now here's
Craig Wolfley and Max Starks.
Speaker 2 (34:49):
All right, this is the Belop.
Speaker 3 (34:57):
Early lunch boarding system engaged. All of you Pittsburgher's and
Steelers nationers out there, go grab you something to eat,
because I know I am because I was driving to
one am this morning to get to South Bend, Indiana.
So I think it's time for me to go get
something to eat after this. Well, yeah, so I'm going
(35:19):
to forge. So I'm glad that I gave myself. It's
like setting an alarm clock every day, you know, at
a at eleven, you know, eleven fifty ish as usually
when the segment kicks off. But kind of want to
round this out with some stats, some notes, some information
to get people going before a game day tomorrow. Says,
this will be our last broadcast to you hear us tomorrow.
(35:41):
There's no daybreak anymore between the last time you hear
this show and what the broadcast is.
Speaker 2 (35:47):
We will be live, you know, twenty eight.
Speaker 3 (35:49):
Hours from now or less from now, broadcasting the Steelers
Ravens game.
Speaker 2 (35:58):
We kind of want to go over some kind of
tail of the Tate type stats.
Speaker 3 (36:01):
I think, I think I think that's the best way
of Do you agree with that, Wolf tailor of the
Tate type stats?
Speaker 2 (36:06):
Sure? Whatever you think? All right, yeah, you know, so
where do we want to go over? First?
Speaker 3 (36:12):
I thought one of the big eye popping stats was, Uh,
so we have here turnover differential. We could talk about
that or do you want to talk about season matchups
and his historical perspective start?
Speaker 2 (36:27):
Those are important? Okay, So.
Speaker 3 (36:31):
Last time we played the Ravens, which is only a
couple of weeks ago, the Steelers were plus two and
turnover differential in that game, which I think is huge
when you think about these games being one score games.
Turnovers that was one of the big difference makers that
really tilted this in the steelers favor. The last time
(36:54):
we played on the season though, the Steelers are plus
in turnover differential. Oh, how different from a year ago, Wolf,
when you're talking about protecting the football and taking the
football away. Ravens are only at plus two overall turnover differential.
Speaker 2 (37:19):
Interesting.
Speaker 3 (37:20):
Now, yeah, they they've only thrown three interceptions, but they
don't they're not really adept at getting the ball back. Steelers,
of course, have only thrown four interceptions this season, but
fifteen interceptions for the Steelers and also fifteen fumble recoveries,
(37:41):
amazing lead the league. We lead the league in fumble
recoveries and they were like third only behind the Vikings
and Texans in the interception category.
Speaker 2 (37:52):
Ravens have twelve takeaways this year.
Speaker 3 (37:55):
So just a stark contrast and our defense getting after
other offenses.
Speaker 2 (38:01):
So I thought that, So I thought that was a
huge one to start with. What you thought?
Speaker 4 (38:05):
Absolutely well, I you know, it's so important because remember
how it started off with the acrosure you got Nick
Kurbin comes from behind and whacks the ball out of
Derrick Henry's hand. That started the whole game, if you
ask me, I mean that was early on in the
first quarter.
Speaker 2 (38:18):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (38:19):
I just think that that's ginormous. When you're able to
get some draw blood. First blood is what I'm really
pointing it to. When you can draw first blood like
that and capitalize on it, that's that's huge in a
game of the of this stature.
Speaker 2 (38:35):
Yeah, absolutely no.
Speaker 3 (38:36):
I think you know, when when when you when you're
talking about two teams and you have a team that's
as dangerous offensively as the Ravens you know, you know
they've they've since that loss, they've they've been outscoring the
teams they've they've scored eighty six points uh since since
the loss of the Steelers. So now this is a
(38:58):
team that can put a lot of points on you
really quickly. So you want to make sure that you're
doing everything in.
Speaker 2 (39:03):
Your power.
Speaker 3 (39:05):
To keep yourself ahead of, ahead of that market, out
pace this Ravens squad, because, like you said, when you
have a Derek Henry in the backfield, you know what
Lamar Jackson is, and you got Isaiah likely Mark Andrews.
We'll see the status of the receiving corps right you know,
the only one healthy right now is Zay Flowers, but
Rashad Baitman, Nelson Agalore guys who are questionable going into
(39:28):
this game, whether they'll be able to muster it up
and play or not. You know, those are the things
that you want to make sure. When you have a
defense that is heady and as opportunistic as ours is,
you know that bodes well your favor in this type
of matchup.
Speaker 4 (39:42):
Let me throw you a stat you know they say
that the two different sites have said that the Steelers
had twenty or seventeen misstackles. They're at that, they average
six point four mistackles a game. To go from six
point four to twenty or seventeen, that's ridiculous.
Speaker 2 (39:59):
You can't have it.
Speaker 4 (40:00):
I understand, Yeah, you're gonna miss a few tackles, but
you can't miss that many, especially with Lamar Jackson, Derrick
Henry and the like.
Speaker 2 (40:08):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (40:09):
No, double digits is never unacceptable. Like you said, the
Steelers have been well below that mark throughout the season.
So to have essentially a three d increase in miss tackles.
Speaker 2 (40:21):
In one game, that's never good. That's never good for
the average.
Speaker 3 (40:26):
And I think, you know, for the Steelers getting back
to that, right, you know, Seaball hit ball, right, that's
the old axiom that you have to follow. And I
think for the guys, yeah, you know, you know, don't
lead with your head, but bring your head across the bow.
Speaker 2 (40:39):
Here's the deal.
Speaker 4 (40:40):
I got it from Tommy Bradley. Okay, former Penn State
head coach, defensive coordinator, terrific defensive mind.
Speaker 2 (40:48):
Feet face hands, That's how it goes.
Speaker 4 (40:51):
Feet face hands, Get your feet in position, get your
face in position, and then you lock up with the hands.
Speaker 2 (40:56):
Last of all. I thought that was pretty good. No,
that is pretty good.
Speaker 3 (41:01):
And you know what, that also works at buffets as well, Wolf,
Yes it does.
Speaker 4 (41:08):
And how how stud of you? Yes, how as student
of you to bring that forward? I love it. I'm
gonna remember that next time I go to the Golden
Golden Corral.
Speaker 2 (41:26):
Yeah, exactly, exactly. No, it's like, yeah, I gotta.
Speaker 3 (41:28):
I gotta bring all three square my feet in the
direction of the of the food, and then I gotta
use my hands to bring it to my face.
Speaker 2 (41:36):
No, no, bring your face first, and then you bring
your hands. Oh yeah, face first, and just corral it
with your hands. There you go. I love it. Oh
my gosh. You know.
Speaker 3 (41:46):
Another another thing is that that's this is a stat
that doesn't bode well there.
Speaker 2 (41:50):
I would love to break this trend.
Speaker 3 (41:51):
But did you know that Jamar that let Lamar Jackson
twelve and oh is a starter in games played in
week fifteen or later in the season.
Speaker 2 (42:00):
I didn't know that. Yeah. I didn't like that.
Speaker 3 (42:02):
And he's twelve and three again since twenty twenty three
against teams.
Speaker 2 (42:07):
That have a winning record. Wow.
Speaker 3 (42:11):
So that's that's one that was interesting, is just looking
through it, and I was like, WHOA, Okay, so this
is a challenge.
Speaker 2 (42:18):
Now.
Speaker 3 (42:18):
Granted you have to remember a year ago when we
played them and what was at week eighteen in the
season and getting to the playoffs. He was not the
starting QB in that game. So that's why he has
a good record. He usually doesn't make it to this point,
but when he does, look he's good. So that's something
(42:39):
that you want to keep keep in in the back
of your mind. But here's another grease set that counters
that Mike Tomlin sixty four and thirty six in his
career in games following a loss, which is the fourth
best among coaches with at least fifty such games.
Speaker 2 (42:58):
Wow, and you have to say that, Yeah, I like
that stat too.
Speaker 3 (43:02):
I mean, you know, that's almost two to one ratio
there and those opportunities, so that bows well, we got
advantage towards.
Speaker 2 (43:10):
Us and that one.
Speaker 3 (43:11):
So, you know, does a couple of stats wanted to
throw out there for everybody, I know, you know, as
we're getting ready.
Speaker 2 (43:17):
To wind down the show.
Speaker 3 (43:18):
I thought those were those were some funny you know,
some some fun stats.
Speaker 2 (43:22):
Not funny, but some fun stats, interesting stats.
Speaker 3 (43:27):
Yeah, and also just want to let you know Steelers
also dominated time of possession last time we played Baltimore.
Speaker 2 (43:33):
Gonna need that again.
Speaker 3 (43:34):
We held the ball for thirty six twenty two last
time we played them, so then we need to still
be north of twenty. When you talk about how do
you stop Lamar Jackson Wolf by having them sit next
to that Gatoray cooler, Yep, we made them sit next
to the Gatoray.
Speaker 2 (43:46):
Cooler for over half that game.
Speaker 3 (43:48):
So we got to continue that trend even in the
unfriendly confines of M and T Bank Stadium.
Speaker 2 (43:55):
Max I said, well, let me just say this.
Speaker 4 (43:58):
That's why possession is nine tenths of the law and
also nine tenths a win.
Speaker 2 (44:03):
Dad, there we go. I love it, love it. Yes,
sometimes you got to go to the rule book, Wolf,
you got to go to the rule book.
Speaker 3 (44:09):
Absolutely standard operating procedure there. Any who, Well that well,
that's been a show this week. We thank you, thank
everybody out there Steelers Nation. You remember, Happy holidays to
everyone that's getting started with the holiday season. We will
be back on Monday. And are we back on Tuesday too?
We're on Tuesday, right, Christmas Eve?
Speaker 2 (44:30):
Okay? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (44:31):
And then and then of course we do battle on Wednesday,
so against the chefs, but wanted to thank everybody for
tuning in and we appreciate it. For Craig wolf Lee,
I'm Max Starks, Wesley Euler, CJ Sinsey, Brian La Martina, Uh,
Happy holidays, but most importantly, go make it a great,
(44:52):
great day and a great weekend
