Speaker 1 (00:04):
I love how outraged you are that they're trying to
save Colbert.

Speaker 2 (00:08):
It's kind of bothering me. It's being a reported that
Jimmy Fallon, Seth Myers, and John Stewart, they're all going
to appear on The lad Show with Stephen Colbert and
show who is it? Jimmy Fallon, Seth Myers and John Stewart,
Oh the other host, the other host, right, They're they're
going to show solidarity with him for his show being canceled,
not not not to entertain you, not to inform you,

(00:30):
but just to mourn the loss of their own influence.
But why are they so outraged? This guy made millions
of dollars. He can right off to the sunset and
have a wonderful fall.

Speaker 1 (00:41):
Of his life because they're next. They know, like it's
hitting home like this this is over. It's over. Like
people don't want it, they don't like it, they don't
like you. They know they're probably next. So they're trying
to show some sort of you know, hey, we're all
all in it together, when the reality is that show

(01:04):
lost a lot of money, the advertisers were not supporting it,
people were not watching it, and again, let's face it
network television mostly dead, but network television mostly a thing
of the past.

Speaker 2 (01:16):
Yeah, with the exception of sports and some local news.

Speaker 1 (01:20):
Yes, because you know, it's like our WIBC does extremely well.
We could look you look at the ratings, you look
at the numbers. We are one of the few radio
stations out there that is crack the code is not
the right message. But in terms of a radio industry
which continues to have some struggles, we do very well

(01:40):
because we give the people what they want. And yeah,
we're competing against podcasting that can be more edgy. You know,
we're competing against satellite radio, which can be more edgy.
One of the reasons we do so well is we
bring people local stuff that they can't get anywhere else
and commentary on it because of the way we view
the world world and the way we view these people

(02:02):
that they can't get anywhere else, so they'll keep tuning in.
But network television, other than sports, one one off type
events and to some extent the local news, they're just
they're not they're not giving people that anymore. So they're
they're not they're not tuning in. And in a world
I mean, you know, you're old enough to remember, late

(02:25):
night comedy used to be the thing, right, what's Carson
going to say tonight? But even to extent from my generation,
those it was the battle of Letterman and Lino. Who
you know, who's side are you on? It's coke and pepsi?
You know, Oh did you see you? So and so
had on? Just nobody cares anymore. We're so connected into
the world. Like Kevin appreciate this. There was a time
where you might tape the late night show, even if

(02:46):
you were a late night than because my favorite band
is going to be on tonight. Oh boy, I can't wait.
You know, you see that, you see your band all
the time, Like every concert is on YouTube. You know,
that's just not there's nothing they're off fring anymore. It's
like it's like the fax machine. It's just a it's
something from a bygone era.

Speaker 2 (03:04):
Yeah, And the guests would just be on there pushing
their latest project. And the other thing is like Colbert
had like twenty riders on his staff and they still
couldn't get the eyeballs.

Speaker 1 (03:18):
Yeah. And do you think about who's more funny, Shane
Gillis or Stephen Colbert? Who's more funny? Dave Chappelle or
Stephen Colbert. There's all these Theovonne or Steve, you know,
like Stephen theovonn just sitting Kevin need to just like
sit at his house or something and talk to people.

Speaker 2 (03:35):
Yeah, but he's naturally funny, effortless for him.

Speaker 1 (03:38):
He's not a natural ale. And for so many years
guys of his generation, No, you're laughing, that's the truth.
They came up in the system. The system anointed the
next guy. He was connected to Stewart, he becomes the
next guy. I can behavior do whatever I want. People
just think I'm funny. No, it's works anymore. People have options.

Speaker 2 (03:55):
You're right.

Speaker 1 (03:55):
Theobann's a super cool, hyper likable dude who talks about
stuff in normal ways that people want to see. So
thus he's gonna blow about that.

Speaker 2 (04:03):
You've got You've got him. He might have one or
two people helping him switch, you know on his podcast.
Compare that, you know, shoestring budget compared to the millions
that they sunk into all authenticity.

Speaker 1 (04:18):
Authenticity is the key. We do a number one rated
radio program in which over fifty thousand people a day
tune in to hear this program, and it's you and
it's me and it's keV right, it's just us, a
couple of cackling hens, making it up as we go along,
because we're authentic everywhere that comes out of it. We
don't need a ton bunch of time to prepare, we
need twenty people to write for us. We don't need
a you know, somebody booking all the gap like it's

(04:42):
just real. Those guys are not real. The whole thing
is ridiculous. It's losing money, audios. I hope they all
go with him, fallon Kimmel, all of them out of here,
