Speaker 1 (00:01):
Killog Fat. The super Delicious Cereal presents a adventures of
Superman faster than a speeding bullet, more powerful than a locomotive,
able to leave Paul buildings at a single bound. Well
up on the sky, it's a bird, it's a plane.
That's Superman. Yes, it's Superman. And today his friends Batman

(00:27):
and Robin find themselves prisoners of the secret society they
have been trying to find. Will join them in a moment.
But right now, here's a word from Dan McCullough. Say,
you know what I heard the other day? Well, I
heard that one of the kids in our block always
makes it a point to hang around when his mother
is making out her grocery list to remind her to
get some Kellogg's Pet. Yes, sir, that young fellow likes

(00:50):
to eat lots of that super delicious hole Heatlake cereal,
and he's mighty eager to collect more of those nifty
comic buttons Path is putting out, aren't they, honeys? The
colors so bright, and the pictures of your favorite funny
sheet characters stand out like anything against that clear white background.
And how those buttons do show off when you wear
them pinned on your jacket or your dress or cap.

(01:11):
Why they make you feel like strutting around and for
dog gone good fun. You can't beat the excitement of
trading dupicates with your pals and getting another comic button
to add to your collection. Maybe it'll be ske Zeek's
or Herbie or even Superman himself. And don't forget how
easy it is to collect all eighteen different buttons in
the series. Now you don't send in any money, not

(01:33):
even a box stop, and you can't buy him anywhere.
But every time Mom opens a new package of Kellogg's Pep,
there's a swell prize inside for you, one of those
Humdinger comic buttons, or a military insignia or warplane button.
Ask Mom to get you some pee e pe Pep
made by Kellogg's of Battle Creek. Now the Adventures of

(01:54):
Superman while Ady Superman and his search for two l
and pieces of Kryptonite, the strange deadly element which gave
the late Atomman his terrible atomic power. Batman and Robin
were captured by a mysterious criminal organization using the symbol
of a crescent, moon and star, believed by our friends
to have knowledge of the kryptonite. In the Gang headquarters,

(02:16):
a bogus sanitarium near Metropolis, Batman and Robin were placed
in a basement dungeon known as Room Zero, where, to
their dismay, they watched the ceiling. The steel ceiling slowly
moved down on them, a fraction of an inch at
a time. It is now eight thirty in the morning,
and we find them both seated on the cold concrete floor.
The lowered ceiling now only inches above Batman's head. Although

(02:38):
they have succeeded in loosening the ropes which bound their
hands and arms, the situation still seems hopeless.

Speaker 2 (02:44):
Listen, ceiling dropped again.

Speaker 1 (02:48):
What will we do? Batman? I had to say it, Robin,
I'm afraid this time we're in a spot we can't
get out of. I don't talk right there.

Speaker 2 (02:54):
Only someone knew we were here, Inspector hendersoner Oh, I.

Speaker 1 (02:58):
Hear dreaming, Sonny Boy, make it good? Why not? Superman? Sure?
Why not? What's it? The slot in the bottom of
the door. My friend mister Smith probably wants to tell
us another bedtime story. I can only get my hands
on him.

Speaker 2 (03:10):
I tell him one night put in a sleep for
a long.

Speaker 3 (03:12):
Time, are you gentlemen enjoying the view in there?

Speaker 1 (03:16):
Sure it's better every minute.

Speaker 2 (03:18):
Why don't you come in and enjoy it with us, Bud,
we're sociable.

Speaker 3 (03:21):
Guys, Thank you, but I prefer to watch from us here.

Speaker 1 (03:26):
Let me see. It's just eight thirty three.

Speaker 3 (03:30):
The ceiling lowers at the rate of one foot per hour.
At nine thirty three you will have to crouch on.

Speaker 1 (03:36):
Your hands and knees.

Speaker 3 (03:38):
At ten thirty three will be lying flat. At approximately
eleven o'clock.

Speaker 2 (03:44):
All what train leaving for Buffalow on track six?

Speaker 3 (03:49):
I wonder you'll find things so amusing. At eleven o'clock,
when the ceiling finally reaches the floor dropped another quarter
of an inch. Well, my friends.

Speaker 2 (04:02):
We're very well.

Speaker 3 (04:03):
Thank you.

Speaker 1 (04:03):
How are you, mister rat? No, don't be nasty to
the gentleman, Robin, You are stupid pools.

Speaker 3 (04:09):
And now it would be clear to you that we
are the present farming business and the metal of art.

Speaker 1 (04:15):
You will both die horrible.

Speaker 3 (04:16):
Death and let you tell us what we want to know.

Speaker 1 (04:20):
You mean, where we got the silver coin with the
crescent and star on a sad yes? And how much
you know about us? Tell me and I will release you.
I give you my word. I wouldn't take your word
if sworn a stack of bibles. Release us first, and
then maybe we'll tell you maybe. Yeah, he do you
hear that? The ceiling dropped again?

Speaker 3 (04:43):
This is your chance to save your lives.

Speaker 1 (04:45):
I will not give you another Well, what do you say?
Go paddle your papers on some other corner, bud all right?

Speaker 3 (04:52):
Then die diel like the stupid idiot you are, mister Smith,
come back?

Speaker 1 (04:56):
What sold you? TINCHU mean? I'll go ahead? Talk? No? No, no, yes,
I'll talk, I'll talk. What do you want to know? Robin?

Speaker 3 (05:03):
Where did you find that silver coin?

Speaker 2 (05:05):
And you fat as much as.

Speaker 1 (05:13):
Well?

Speaker 3 (05:14):
That's that?

Speaker 1 (05:15):
Yeah? Have me worried for a minute.

Speaker 2 (05:18):
I've been worried for the last five hours.

Speaker 1 (05:21):
Maybe he's right, that man. Maybe we are making jokes.

Speaker 2 (05:23):
To cover up.

Speaker 1 (05:24):
Are you frightened? I'm not too happy. Let's take another
look around the walls.

Speaker 2 (05:28):
Oh what's the use? We've been over them a hundred times.
They're concrete and there isn't a cracking them big enough
for an.

Speaker 1 (05:33):
Ant to cross.

Speaker 4 (05:34):
I know.

Speaker 1 (05:34):
But there goes the ceiling again.

Speaker 2 (05:37):
The ceiling zero soon, too soon.

Speaker 1 (05:41):
Lower and lower inch by inch, the heavy steel ceiling
descends to the floor and Batman and Robin give up
all Hope. Meanwhile, alarmed because he has been unable to
find any trace of his friends, Superman and his guys
of Clock, Kent is in the oppose of Police Inspector Henderson,
who was just completing a telephone conversation. Jury's not holding
on you, hear me? Okay, then bring him back to mcropolis, right,

(06:05):
come on? That still a pigeon you trail last night? Kent?
Squeally evers, Yeah, I sent here me at the Rockville
Uh huh. He and the local police put Squeally on
the pan. They all stoolies are yell and Squeally is
no exception. He talked, Yes, it won't help as much.
He doesn't know where Batman and Robin are, and he
doesn't know anything about the mob who used the cress
and moon and star for the symbol. All he knows

(06:28):
is that there is such a mob and if he
hears anybody asking about them. He supposed to tip off
Patsy at the Golden Willy nightclub. What was he doing
at the gold on Lily last night? And why did
he skip Tom? He says, when Batman and Robin fought
their way out of the dark ambush, he walked them
into He figured they'd add up the right numbers and no,
he'd put in the tip for the ambush at the
coffee shop. Uh huh. So he hustled back there and

(06:49):
hid across the street in the doorway, and sure enough,
about an hour later, Batman and Robin showed up with you.
So he rushed over to the Golden Lily and told
Patsy the coffee shop waiter might leak and to expect company.
Then then Patsy gave Squeally the keys to his car
and told him to beat it out of town and
lay low for a while. And then I trailed Squeally
half the night for nothing. Maybe not play me in,

(07:10):
Inspector Squeally's information gives me a little more ammunition to
use on Patsimo on home, Charlie. Patsimo is Patsy, the
owner of the Golden Lily, And I'll bet my shield
he's mixed up in the disappearance of Batman and Robin.
We know he's somehow tied up with the Crescent and
Star Mob and Batman and Robin were last seen at
his plate. Yes. For then how my hunch is they

(07:32):
followed the girl and she steered them into a trap
and Patsy minute, what girl? Oh yeah, yeah, yeah yeah,
I forgot to tell you I got right over here. Hey, huh.
Take a look at this photograph, Kent, Uh huh. You
see we do a little detective work too. You're not
the only shirlf like Scott look inspector. This girl's wearing
an ornament in her hair, and it's a crescent morning star.

(07:53):
Why do you think I showed you the picture? Oh?
But who is she? She was introduced as Gloria Garrett,
star of the London Music Halls. I called Scotland Yard
about an hour ago. And they never heard of Gloria
Garrett in London. Huh oh, and so far nobody's heard
of her here either. Wait, Averte, we can trace us
through Patsy, can't we. He and the Crest and Star
mob must have planted her at the Golden Lily and

(08:13):
arranged for her to be introduced, knowing that if Batman
and Robin were there, they'd follow. That's what I figure.
And as soon as we get Patsy down here, I'm
going to put the spruce on him. I've always been
sure he's a crook, but he's a smart potato, and
we've never been able to pin anything on him. Do
you think you can now at least enough to make
him talk? I hope. So I've got an alarm out
for him, and we should pick him up soon. Then

(08:34):
we're going to crack this case. White. Excuse me? Sure? Hello?

Speaker 4 (08:40):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (08:40):
Yes, thought of him? Did you get him?

Speaker 3 (08:44):
What?

Speaker 1 (08:46):
No?

Speaker 4 (08:49):
I see?

Speaker 1 (08:50):
Okay, yeah, that's right, feeling what it's a matter of inspector.
They just picked up Patsy.

Speaker 3 (08:56):
Oh good?

Speaker 1 (08:57):
Not so good. They found him floating in the harbor
with a knife in his back, stunned. Clark Kent's jaw drops.
The old owner of the Golden Lily was their only
link in the chain of circumstances revolving about Batman and
Robin's sudden disappearance. But that link is broken forever now

(09:17):
what we'll return in a moment to find out. But first,
here again is your announswer. Dang talk about bright, sparkling color.
Why you can't beat those comic buttons from packages of
Kellogg's pet Those red and black and blue pictures of
your favorite comic strip characters are real eye catchers, and
the pictures are so true to life that well, you'd
almost think they're going to talk to you. Take Haroltine,

(09:39):
for instance, his hair is comb just so liking the
funny papers, and he's grinning away as if he's just
heard a big joke, and smiling Jack looks mighty natural
too in his trim looking uniform. And Superman in bright
blue jersey with red Superman insignia and that red keep
flying in the wind. Yes, sir, every single one of
those eighteen different com buttons is really on the beam.

(10:02):
And you get the extra fund of trading jupigates with
your friends too, So better get busy on your collection.
Ask Mom to get you some of that super delicious
hole wheat flake cereal Kellogg's PEP, because that's the only
way you can get these comic buttons. You don't send
in either money or box stops, and you can't buy
them anywhere, but inside every package of PEP there's an

(10:22):
exclusive prize, one of these nifty comic buttons, or a
military insignia or a warplane button. It's your prize from
pe e P. PEP made by Kellogg's of Battle Creek.
Now back to the Adventures of Superman. Shocked when they
learned that Patsy, owner of the Golden Lily nightclub, had

(10:43):
been found murdered. Calke Kenton Inspector Henderson hurried to the
club on the waterfront, which in the bright light of
day is deserted except for a porter who listlessly sweeps
the floor between the empty tables. Searching the place thoroughly,
Kenton Henderson finally ended up in Patsy's small private office
on the little balcony above the dance floor, where the
inspector has gone through the dead man's desk. Not a

(11:03):
thing here to show that Patsy even knew about the
Cressendon Star mob Kenton. Not a no, not an unexplained
phone number. Nothing. The boys couldn't find anything in his
hotel either. How did he contact them? I don't know
what I'm worried, Inspector. It's a quarter past ten, Batman
and Robin have been missing since midnight, and I admit
him worried myself. But what can we do. Patsy is dead,

(11:24):
we can't find Gloria Garrett, and nobody else can tell
us anything about the Cressendon Star. I can't understand how
Wait a minute, what's that? What's one in here? That's
the storeroom. We went through it, yes, but I think
we missed something. Come on about us? Well what is it? Uck?
A phonograph? Well what about it? Listen to this? Oh

(11:46):
we haven't time to play records, candas and listen, ey hear?
That's so what you remember? The song? Of course? All alone?
Irving Berlin wrote it? But what did that goonograph record?
Is the answer to our prayers? What by you not? No?
I'm not. In a minute or two, the telephone on

(12:06):
that desk is going to ring, and you are going
to answer it here? And who'll it be? A member
of the Crescent and Star Mob. Now listen for a
long moment. Inspector Henderson stares at Kent as though he
were certain the Daily Planet reporter is out of his mind.
In the background, the phonograph needle scratches on the recording

(12:29):
of the once popular song all Alone. How does Kent
know the phone will ring? And why is he so
certain it will be a member of the Cressendon Star
Mob calling. In the meantime, Batman and Robin, with only
a scant forty five minutes to go before the ceiling
of their incredible torture chamber drops to the floor are
in mortal danger from now on. The action is tenth

(12:51):
exciting and mysterious, so don't miss a single word of it.
