Speaker 1 (00:10):
Pe Q. Are you ready for Week one and to
get out there and finally play some football?
Speaker 2 (00:15):
Training camp seems like it just started yesterday and I'm
already it's going to play football. But uh, we got
a great group of guys. Coaches are phenomenal. Everybody's really
excited about this season with all the new additions and stuff.
So I'm I can't be more excited myself.
Speaker 1 (00:29):
How much more comfortable are you in year two with
the green dot, the communication knowing what is supposed to
be happening out there.
Speaker 2 (00:37):
Yeah, it's way more simple now. I gotta feeling of
what the coaches wanna call, especially certain situations, more familiar
with the guys around me. Me and Payton got a
real good connection on who making what call and when
and while we're doing it. So I'm definitely more comfortable.
And I was just funding out there and making more plays.
Speaker 1 (00:53):
Pretty Much everybody TJ. Watt included, have talked about Peyton
and the growth that we have seen from that year
one to year two. What are some specific examples of
things you've seen where you're like, ah, Okay, he's got it.
Speaker 2 (01:05):
You talk a little bit more trash now, you definitely
got that but now he's just he's just so locked
in on the details. He's asked so many questions, so
many small questions that lead to bigger things. He's just
he's an ultimate competitor. I mean, he loves to compete.
No matter if it's coverage, running drills, whatever it may be,
he gonna compete. So it's definitely nice to have somebody
onside you. I'm gonna actually go back on what I said.
(01:28):
I think I'm fasting and Payton so and you got
two guys that can run to the ball. That we
do though, that's gonna be.
Speaker 1 (01:32):
Electric, so I can't with In terms of this defense,
you mentioned all the new pieces. Without giving away too much,
how would you describe this new look Steelers defense.
Speaker 2 (01:42):
I think it's a fierce defense. I think when you
got all the editions that we've got, you can play
any kind of coverage, you could biss any kind of
way you could bliss whoever you want. You can move
guys wherever you want, up front, back end, inside, it
don't matter. So I think we're gonna be a fierce defense.
I think we just gotta go out here, communicate at
a high level to run to the ball, get the ball.
Do it we gotta do to be the number more defense?
Speaker 1 (02:02):
Do you guys like that? Coach Tomlin is proud of
this defense, talking a lot about it. What it can
be is that pressure is that like, okay, yeah, he
gets us, he sees what we're doing, the work we're
putting in.
Speaker 2 (02:13):
I think as a coach you gotta do that. But
I think as players we got to own up to
the standard. And I think that starts from the day
on the training camp that started every single day just
building off that and making progress each and every single
day and not taking any steps back.
