Speaker 1 (00:00):
But let's look ahead to the day's action in local football.
Now break in the Central League because the Chatham cupp
is into the round of sixteen stage across the country
this weekend. Couple of games featuring Wellington based teams Dale
Warburton our football analysts with us morning.

Speaker 2 (00:14):
Dale, Yeah, good morning Adam.

Speaker 1 (00:16):
How you doing Yeah good, thank you. Well into another
knockout weekend across the country. Couple of games Dale, as
I said, featuring local teams. Let's start off with the
one being played in Wellington. It's a home run four Olympic.
Bit of a mismatch though in terms of the way
the Central League's played out, the leaders playing the Central
League strugglers Stop Out.

Speaker 2 (00:36):
Yeah's I guess that the beauty of the Chatham Cuppers
stop Out, who haven't won all season, have somehow managed
to squeeze here. The two wins, both coming to penalty
shootouts to get themselves to one step away from the
quarter finals, which is a somewhat of amazing efforts for them.
Unfortunately for them, they've picked up one of this Olympic
in the draw. Well, let's not a comfortable five. No,

(00:59):
We're not over Western Suburbs to get through to this
round stop out. As they said they had one vpunities
against Tony after drawing three to three after extra time.
I guess for Olympics, I've the won the Gym Cup
once back in two thousand and nine, then they probably
have pretty good chances of adding to that this season.
It's a few big names who have been bundled out already.

(01:20):
The two big christ hitch Jeans and Kashmir and Christchich
United already out and some of the bigger sizes in
Auckland aren't through as well, so they could get a
pretty handy join the next round if they're they're fortunate
enough for nice suspect that they should have no problems
putting away stop out later this afternoon.

Speaker 1 (01:36):
And now the one that will be probably pretty interesting
across the weekends. Remember my Rangers setting up to take
on Napier City Rovers.

Speaker 2 (01:42):
Yeah, what should be a bit tighter. I suspect Maype
City beat North only too one in the last round,
but it did require a q fifth minute winner from
Lenn Schofield our Rangers. They had a pretty tight wind
as well. They beat one Sye Corry one nil. Could
have seen the Martin Budha girl Boy through the second half.
Both both sides have a pretty storied history of the

(02:03):
Chiam Cup. Miramar I have won at four times, the
last back in twenty ten. Nape their five time winners
after the last back in thousand and nine, and they
had a pretty good run through them in the late
or mid to late nineteen nineties where they won up
three times in a sort of ten year span. Besides
have played once or any of this season. Nape City
raced out to a three lead after fifteen minutes before

(02:25):
Miramar pulled it back to three to before halftime. But
that's how the game finished. But for the home game,
I think Napier will were probably be pretty warm favorites
to move into the quarterfinals.

Speaker 1 (02:33):
Okay, well we'll see what happens up there tomorrow, that
one at two tomorrow afternoon and the Olympic game at
Wakefield Park from two this afternoon. Appreciate the preview as always.
Dale will be back chatting Central League next week.

Speaker 2 (02:45):
Yeah, look forward to it.

Speaker 1 (02:46):
Yes, Dale Wilburton there and yeah, there are obviously Chatham
Cup games right across the country, Ferimid Bays and Coastal
Spirit in christ Church. Last night got things under way.
We've got Cambridge taking on Auckland City Melville against the
Hibiscus Coast. Then that local game we talked about Wellington
Olympic against Stop Out Mighty Day were taking on Honie
Hunger as well Western Springs up in Auckland taking on

(03:09):
Birkenhead United. The other local game Naple City Rovers against
Mirimar Rangers and then down south at Otago University taking
on Dunedin City Royals FC. So just looking at this
Christitch game from last night, it was to all at
the end of regulation between Ferimd Bays and Coastal Spirit,
but then Coastal Spirit won five three at the end

(03:32):
of the end of extra time, So yeah, an extra
time win for Coastal Spirit down there in christ Church
to secure a quarter final spot in that one. So
that's how things look for the Chatham Cup. Across the
weekend women's Kate Shepperd Cup, they're into the quarter finals
this weekend. One game featuring local Wellington teams and that
is Waterside Carrori hosting the Phoenix Women's Reserves. Obviously the

(03:55):
Phoenix women the reserves team are in the Kate Shepperd
Cup for the very time and well. As you'd expect
from a professional setup, they're doing pretty well. They've had
some dominant wins so far. So yeah, tough one for
Waterside Karrori today which we'll determine the one Wellington team
that will progress to the semi finals of the Women's
Kate Shepherd Cup. So that one underway at Carori Park
