Adam Cooper is joined by Dale Warburton for a look at the penultimate weekend of Central League football before the top three teams advance to the National League.
They look in particular at Miramar Rangers' chances of surpassing Napier City Rovers in third position.

Twenty one past seven here on the ill Sport Breakfast
on Wellington's News Talk z B well only a couple
of weeks left of the men's Football Central League around
Wellington and the Wide and Lower North Island before the
top three teams plus the Wellington Phoenix Reserves of course
advanced to the National League can buy out with teams
from the rest of the country for honors this year.

Of course, Wellington Olympic are defending champions of the National League.
They are safely into the next phase of the season
Western Suburbs and second they're pretty safe two with two
weeks to go. Interesting one could be though Napier City
Rovers who are in third spot. They are just three
points ahead of Miramar Rangers, so that third spot still
possibly up for grabs here, so an important weekend in

particular for third place Napier City Rovers and fourth placed
Mirramar Rangers. With two weekends to go in the Central League,
let's bring in our local football analyst, Dale Warburton to
preview what games lie aheads morning to your Dale and
let's start in Karrori where well one of those teams.
It's interesting for Mirmar Rangers heads to meet water side

Yeah, they kind of alluded to an important game here
for Miramar. They're just three points behind next sitting in
that final nationally spot and have the benefit of a
better goal difference which could come in handy after next
week's game. It was pretty tighty fear between these two
sides of the season. Mirrama scored three times in the
last fifteen minutes to end up winning four to three
and Mirrima Sorry. I also, Corey, they have only won

once in the last seven games and that was against
slow the Island Bay in their last game, so not
in a particular great run of form. And also I
don't really have much to play for given this having
their safety in the league. So with all that in
the part, you'd probably expect Mirram Marsher should have a
fairly comfortable one out there at Correy.

Okay, our next up two teams and that other end
of the table relegation sort of zone Stop Out and
Island Bay Units.
Speaker 2 (01:58):
Yeah, certainly a bit of a relegation battle here. Stop
Out still strong favorites to take that there are four
points behind, but was a better gold difference so that
the absolutely have to win this gavyats Island Bay, and
even if they do, they would still need probably at
least to draw against Miramar next weekend, so that's a
bit of a miracle needed for them. A draw for

Alan Bay, which in this game, which is their last,
would secure survival for them, which is pretty solid effort
after being promoted last season. But yeah, it'speaked a pretty
pretty tight and testy one out there at Heart Park.

And considering their run after advancing through the Chatham Cup
semi finals last weekend, Wellington Olympic hosting Patini today, do
you see Patony putting up much of a challenge here?
Speaker 2 (02:41):
Probably not. I'd say there's no signs of Olympics slowing
down at all. As you say that won through to
the Chadum Cup final last weekend with a comfortable five
to one win over Krushitch Krushi Coastal Spirit, So they're
still in the run for for the treble of the
Central League, Chatham Cup and National League. And you know, Olympic,
they've only considered I haven't I haven't conceived in their

last five games, so they're in a pretty good run
of form, Patoni, I guess they have, they have they
are coming off that surprise win over Nat City Rovers
last two weekends ago, so they might might put up
a battle, but you'd think Olympic, which is the superior
squad depth I should get. Should get to another three
points there at Wakefield.

Okay, and then the one game tomorrow North Wellington with
a trip up to Napier City Rovers, as we mentioned Dale,
pretty important for the host Southern Hawk's way to get
get a one on the board.
Speaker 2 (03:31):
Yeah yeah, Nape City they lost us to say to
Platonia last week and sort of throw up in a
chance for Marimart sneak into that that last National League spot.
Maybe you really need to win this one. They've got
Western Suburbs next week down down here in Pottidora, so
that's a pretty tricky fixture for them to to get
points out of, whereas North Wellington they're all but safe

and innate spot to take a fairly unlikely set of
results to drag them down into last place, so they
probably don't have too much going for them. And then
the Cup all the way up to make is a
pretty tough one. Naker do the other hand, have come
off back to back losses and I will be without
oscar Ford so as their top goalscorer has sil over
in Europe on trials. So with all that, you'd think

probably maybe very fairly comfortable when is there and puts
it the last National Lea spot down to the wy
next weekend.
