Speaker 1 (00:00):
National League Football continuing around the country today. Dale Warburton
back with us for a preview Wiley Dale from morning again. Okay,
well we're into things now. Good sort of week for
some of the Wellington teams last week Olympic getting on
the board, which they'll be happy with. But Dale, let's
start off with the game at Fraser Park this afternoon
half past twelve. The Phoenix up against Coastal Spirit.
Speaker 2 (00:21):
Yes Phoenix, Yeah, I had a pretty handy draw last
week and NTIA announced at fourth al in a very
congested table appenerally just after halftime from Luke Flower drew
secured points for them. Watching back on the highlight, that
looks like we were under the pump for large parts
of the game, but managed to eke out that draw.
Perhaps not surprising because it didn't look like they didn't
(00:43):
have any fringe first team players in their match day squad,
so maybe a little bit lighter on numbers. Coastal Spirit
they come into the game with a hammering of Western
Sumber's five mill last week in a four minute hat
trick from David Yuel was sported at either side bow
raised from Daniel mcclennan, so the equals Wellington Phoenix on
(01:04):
points but behind dot Con Gold difference. I think given
maybe this, Given this, the Phoenix's first team is playing
this week and I imagine maybe slightly Weekend and perhaps
Coastal Spirit will be our favorites going in to that one.
Speaker 1 (01:19):
All right. Then down in christ Church at English Park
playing host to Kashmir Technical and Olympic, back from their
first win of the competition last weekend.
Speaker 2 (01:28):
Yeah, I got their season a little bit back on
track with a comprehensive four one window based and suburbs
goals to Door Davenport Piece and Gavin Hoy, Joe Hopper
and Ben Metta cop points for them move them up
into third, just one point behind Napier and the second
and just three points behind Auckland City. It will be
(01:48):
without Tour Davenport Peterson who was received a very late
red card in that game. The Kashmir Tech. They're also
on four points and had a very solid one all
door with Auckland City in Auckland last weekend. I'm expecting
a pretty tight game in that one, and I think
the loser will have their chances of top two finished
heavily dented.
Speaker 3 (02:09):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (02:10):
Okay, Also this weekend napi City Rovers the second on
the ladder despite just one win, largely thanks to their
two draws to their name. They've got the trip up
to Birkenhead United in Auckland this afternoon. What do you
expect here?
Speaker 2 (02:22):
Yeah, doing well. I think we'd be pretty happy with
how they played so far. Obviously second second and there
with win and two draws. Although perhaps probably consider themselves
they blew a blue extending their points tally after that
draw with with Phoenix last weekend. It's a bit of
a tricky trip there up to as Burke and he
had heard a good win over since berken had always
(02:45):
sorted out for in a very tight team tight league.
Win for Napier would would set up nicely for the
last remaining five games.
Speaker 1 (02:52):
Yeah, wonderful. But actually back in Wellington tomorrow and Deva
Park Western Suburbs up against Auckland City.
Speaker 2 (02:58):
Yeah, suburb's a not starting well. I think we're well
our contention with somewhere close to a zero percent chance
of making the final. Even at this early stage, they've
already conceded twelve goals in three games and they've just
got that one drawer last week they considered four goals
and ten minutes just after half time to capitulate in
the second half and okuess based on that in Auckland
(03:20):
City I shouldn't have too many problems out there at
whipped and should remain top spot for another week.
Speaker 1 (03:25):
Yeah, wonderful. And then wrapping up the action tomorrow afternoon.
All Auckland affair Eastern Suburbs West and Springs.
Speaker 2 (03:31):
Yeah, both sitting down and eighth and ninth in the league,
but it's very tight sore, only a couple of points
off a second but yeah gain in a short season
lost for either side or particularly Springs given it a
bit lower, it probably makes them very hard to make
the top two. But yeah, probably should be pretty good
entertaining game up there in Auckland.
Speaker 1 (03:49):
Yeah, look forward to that. And Dale can't leave without
getting your thoughts on the big weekend of a league
getting underway. Obviously Phoenix at home to kick things off
tomorrow for them, but a few hours from Feat ex
fans such as yourself, I'm sure we'll be on Now
what Auckland's United offer in their first game tonight.
Speaker 3 (04:07):
Oh not particularly half them, honest, there's another another team
in the league so obviously it's Istra games and had
a bit of a bit of a derby.
Speaker 2 (04:16):
But just like every other you're other a league team.
I hope, I hope they lose every game, but they're
obviously not possible. But I'm sure, you know, they'll do
reasonably well. They've they've got enough, they've got to own
it with deep enough pockets that they'll Yeah, they'll they'll do,
They'll do. I'm sure they'll do well this season. But yeah,
another adds another dimension to the league this season.
Speaker 1 (04:34):
Yeah, And thoughts on the Phoenix resuming another campaign.
Speaker 2 (04:38):
Yeah, well, I hope so they can replicate last season
and go slightly better. Obviously they've had a few outs,
but have made a bit of a bit of cash
and doing so and have brought in some pretty pretty
solid recruits on paper at least. And the league is
sort of renowned for players you know, perhaps not performed
from their historical you know, our careers, or I'm doing
(05:00):
better than they have in the past, So what looks
on paper is always quite different to what you see
see on the pitch. And but yeah, I'm sure Jim
cal and Tali and I's got a game plan and
a plan for the season to return us somewhere to
the near the top of the table. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (05:13):
Great, looking forward to the game tomorrow at Sky Stadium.
