Speaker 1 (00:00):
Yes, lookst be on the All Sport breakfast. That's twenty
three away from eight. So let's talk club cricket now.
Matt Wilson is ahead of competitions at Cricket Wellington. He's
with us now, wanting to you, Matt. I imagine the
Basin Reserve. But quieter than it was this time last week.
Speaker 2 (00:13):
Yeah, absolutely, and obviously disappointing that the black Caps were
beaten by England and then we only had a Test
last three days. But yeah, definitely been a bit quieter
since Monday.
Speaker 1 (00:26):
Yes, yes, indeed, including the New Zealand supporters.
Speaker 2 (00:28):
Right.
Speaker 1 (00:28):
Well, let's go to club cricket for the weekend, Matt,
and we'll start with the men's Division one conversation. A
couple of weekends, including this week ahead before Christmas break?
What have we got to look forward to today?
Speaker 2 (00:40):
Yeah, so just recapping last week's results in Division one
for the men there was a top of the table
clash between Krrory and Tighter at Carrory Park, restricting Tighter
to one hundred and eighty eight. Karrori chase down the
total in just thirty four overs to take the contest
by five wickets. Shadan Chowdry he made fifty five Perori
(01:00):
with John O tough In making sixty nine for tighter
Calvin Park Hut District. They got back to winning ways
with a three wicket win over vi Uni. Batting first,
Vic made two hundred and thirty eight in Heart reach
the target after thirty eight overs. Deval vj Loisle he
made fifty five for Thick and a superb ninety five
from Saide Muhammad Kimani's Hut District Chanda Ravi. He picked
(01:25):
up four wickets for Hut District as well in that one.
It was a successful way day for Heart District in
picking up their second fifty over winn of the season,
so they'll be wrapped with that one. At Nanville Park,
it was a comfortable win for Onslow on what was
a fairly tricky and difficult pitch for both teams and
they beat Easts in that game. Bowling first, Onslow dismissed
(01:47):
East for just ninety eight with Matt Scopel the pick
of the Onslow bowl is four to seventeen for him
off off of seven. Onslow reached the target in just
twelve overs with both openers unbeaten and on the way
to a ten victory, so big big win for Onslow
over East last weekend there and the U and Chaffield
Trophy Ladder now has Karrori on top seventeen points there,
(02:09):
level with Tighter by by virtue of run rate set
above them in first spot. Onslow they sit in third,
one point back on sixteen. East, Vic and Heart District
all sit on eleven points. Heart remain bottom on current
run rate heading into round seven today, so it's really
tight in Division one, which is what we want, not
(02:29):
a lot, just six points separating first from last on
the table. So it's been a really good competition today
and today is going to be really exciting to see
who takes the w's in the division that just swings
left and right every week. So today East at home
(02:52):
to VIC at Kilburny Park, Onslow there at home to
Corori at Nnville Entier of their back on Phrase Park
in their home to Hut District there head of their
ninetieth birthday celebrations for Tighter, so it's going to be
a big day out at Fozer part today. So it's
some really good fixtures in Division one.
Speaker 1 (03:10):
Yeah, and congratulations Tighter on that mile side right, we'll
go down to the Hazlet Trophy. Matt, how's that looking
as we head into another weekend?
Speaker 2 (03:18):
Yep So the hast a similar very very tight amongst
a number of teams, which is great to see. In
Division two. It was a run fest across the board
last weekend, as all three matches produced well over five
hundred plus run contests. At Lindon Park, it went down
to the final over as Patoni got over the line
to defeat Norths by two wickets. Setting a target of
(03:40):
two hundred and sixty nine, Norths looked like they were
going to restrict per Tony. However, sixty four from Patoni
skipper Harry Wall and a well time forty seven from
Rogan Becanie got the men in Blue home with five
balls remaining really close one there, Jack Gaskin. It also
contributed forty four for the away side earlier. North Sam
All know he's having a good season with the bat,
(04:02):
produced a fantastic eighty eight from the middle order to
help North's reet reach a respectable total. Wade Mackenzie he
picked up figures of four for thirty one off his
ten overs with the ball. Tony at alex Moore, whether
the pitcher's ever increasingly being dubbed at the road on
the Hill, a lot of runs being scored there. This
year Johnsonville an upper heart. They produced another six hundred
(04:23):
plus rum thriller batting first upper heart. They made three
hundred and twelve for five and they're fifty overs with
two centuries as well. From the red hot Sand Morgan
made one hundred and eight off one hundred and thirty
four balls and upper hearts overseas player Dylan Bligno he
made one hundred and seven off one hundred and nineteen balls.
Lockie Bailey also produced a vital forty one for them
(04:44):
from the middle order to give up a heart, it's
mammoth target for Johnson Bill to chase. In reply, the
hosts gave almost as good as they got, Andrew Moore
opening the batting with eighty Matthew Now making fifty two
not out from number three and Janakan Karunaharan making eighty
nine from number seven again I hope I pronounced that
(05:05):
name correctly from number seven. There who got Javil to
three hundred and five to seven but falling just seven
runs short and what have what would have been an
effort batting show for any neutrals watching on in that one.
While it definitely wasn't a day for the bowlers, Cullen
Donaldson did manage to pick up three wickets well as
(05:26):
the upper heart while kind of lusty and not taking
any wickets for j Vil picking up very respectaful figures
of number twenty two off his ten overs, which should
be commended in a match that produced over six hundred
runs there. In the third and final match, it was
Weinui entertaining nine to eight Brian Heath nine I edging
the contest in the forty ninth over, winning by five wickets,
(05:48):
having been set a target of two hundred and sixty
nine to win by Wainui. Nine I produced a mature
batting performance in reply, Ethan got out a game solid
with the bat he's having a great season and informed
from the top of the will with sixty for nine
to I and Patrick Diamond made an important eighty six
not out and then a man in the match display
from nine eyes middle order earlier for Winoi, Jordan Jordan
(06:10):
and Callum macinif had made the runs in setting respectable
target for their wayside to chase down. So tightight game
there and just unlucky. They just couldn't quite get over
the line with that one. Winery. The Haslet ladder continues
to show Upper Heart at the top of the standings
there on twenty two points with an important five point
gap to Patni in second on seventeen North one point
(06:30):
back on fifteen third with nine nine fourteen, Johnsonville stay
off the bottom of six, one more than Whinery on five.
As the division moves on to round seven today. So
again from those points it is pretty tight and all
the teams are really gunning for it as we as
we get to the business end and the Haslet today
is Winery at home again to Johnsonville nine eye. They're
(06:53):
at home to Patni and a local derby there in
North City they're at home to Upper Heart at Linden Park.
That's versus in that one. So that could be a
good game to get along to at Lyndon Park today.
Speaker 1 (07:03):
Great, I'm good to they have things still coming down
to the wire. And what about over in the women's
Division one comp.
Speaker 2 (07:08):
Mat Yeah, women's Division one, So it was back to
the T twenty competition last weekend at Kilbernie Park Johnsonville
women they picked up their second T twenty victory of
the season, this time over City Suburbs by just eight runs.
Really tight one there, making ninety for nine. They restricted
the home team to just eighty two in reply. So
it was a day of the bowlers. With the Johnsonville
(07:29):
skipper Anissa Greenley, she picked up figgers a fourth for
seventeen off three overs, with the performance of the day
coming from City Suburbs Casey Bentham. She made five to
fifteen or four overs and a great individual bowling performance there.
Tabletop is North City. They were up against Collegians at
Granada North and showing once again why they continue to
be the team to beat this year with four with
(07:50):
a four work at win Collegians they made ninety seven
for seven and their twenty overs North Scott over the
line at ninety eight to six after eighteen they're trying
to memorial. It was Upper Hut who produced the win
of the round, defeating defending champions Patoni by thirty one runs,
setting a target of one hundred and forty four. Platoni
could only manage one hundred and twelve and they're twenty overs.
(08:12):
Sam Mackinder making fifty nine with the bat for Upper
Heart Henna Cows managed thirty eight Patoni on a day
they gave up a heart there, thirsty twenty one of
the season and put Patny five points behind leaders North
Johnson's All now st third on nine points, level with Patoni,
City Suburbs and fourth and fifth respectively on five points,
with Collegians yet to register a win or a point
(08:32):
at the bottom of the ladder. As the team's heads,
the team's head toward another teaching round this weekend, so
this is went out with women's Division one. We now
played t twenty until the final at Challo Base twenty
five and then remaining forty over and so out there
played from February one onwards onto the fixtures today and
(08:53):
the women's grace Bear with me one second. I'm just
going to bring them up at my trustee screen here
so I get them right. In Division one for the
women today it is up a hut against North City.
They are at Trenton Memorial. We've got to Tony. They're
against Johnsonville back on Patni Wreck one and at Carrory Park.
(09:15):
We've got City Suburbs and Collegians and a local derby
for the women. So some really good games again today
as we as we push on to another round of
T twenty cricket. So yeah, get along to your local
ground and see some We see some really good club
cricket at the top end. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (09:29):
