Speaker 1 (00:00):
Wellington's All Sport Breakfast tweet Adam Cooper Thanks to Rutherford
and Bond Toyota and King Toyota on news Talks, there'd
be twenty nine away from eight on the All Sport Breakfast.
Let's check in with Premier Club Crickets heading into another weekend.
Matt Wilson's head of Competitions at Cricket Wellington's with us
now morning.

Speaker 2 (00:18):
Matt morning, How are we going?

Speaker 1 (00:19):
Yeah, because thanks and we obviously spoke last week Matt.
We were heading into day two of those Premiere one
and two grade men's fixtures and jeez, it looked like
it was a pretty exciting afternoon and certain parts of Wellington.

Speaker 2 (00:32):
Matt, Yeah, that's right. Obviously a bit about weather during
the week did make conditions a bit tricky on Saturday morning,
and unfortunately one game did did get abandoned and go
down and that was the tider Heart District game. So
those on missed out on a few points, but no
doubt they'll bounce back this weekend. But yeah, the other
two games had some pretty epic finishes, and we talk

(00:54):
about Red Bull Cricket and two Day cricket and where
it's heading and how we can keep it exciting while
it's cert was exciting. Last weekends Eastern Suburbs were up
against Upper Heart. Now they went into day two with
a lead and it was looking like they were definitely
in the driving seat. But credit to Upper Heart they
came out and performed and had to come back for

(01:16):
the Apes. Really. Sam Morgan hit two hundred and twenty
six not out for Upper Heart in a fantastic second
in that seeking innings batting performance for them. They managed
three hundred and eighty six for five declared in their
second innings with a huge lead of over three hundred
and fifty runs and they were left enough overs in

(01:38):
the day to win the match. They bowled Eastern Suburbs
out for eighty nine with two overs to spare, which
is fantastic and by all accounts there was ten eleven
players around the pitch trying to get those last two wickets.
It's exactly what you want from Rebull cricket. Great win
for Upper Heart, outright win for them to start their

(01:59):
two campaign and in doing so they wrestled the famous
cook shield from Eastern Suburbs who have held that for
a number of years. By all accounts, it's a very
heavy piece of ward as well, so they take that
back to Barton Oval to defend. And there remaining two
home games this season, so a big, big weekend to them.

(02:19):
And in the other match equally Onslower against Karori. That
game did end up in the draw, however, going into
the last throes of the day, Onslow had one wicket
in hand and fourteen to win, so it was it
could have gone either way there to Onslow or karor
Krori needing just the one wicket, but the end in
the draw. So and epic days finish to the Division

(02:41):
one Round one two day games. Moving on to today
we enter round two and we can see another exciting
rounds of two cricket in the Perce Cup. That's hut
District against Upper Hut. That one's at hut Wreck today
and next weekend Karrori against Tighter that's at Karori Park.
And we've got on Low at home again in the
bill there against Eastern Suburbs. So another really good round

(03:04):
of Pest Cup fixtures in Division one.

Speaker 1 (03:06):
Yeah great, and I hope that exciting nature of games
carries on to the next round. And what about Division two.

Speaker 2 (03:10):
Matt, Yes, Division two we actually had three outrights last week,
so some exciting games. Johnsonville they got a big outright
win against vic Uni to get their two day campaign
off to a great start. They didn't have such a
successful one day campaign, but this is really kickstart of
their season. North City and Patoni that one was really interesting.

(03:32):
Patoni were bowled out for ninety seven in their second inning,
so North didn't have a lot to chase going into
the last session on day two, but credit to Potoni.
They bowled out in North City for eighty seven to
get an outright win by ten runs, so really tight.
But Patoni we wrapped and that sort of continues their
form in Division two and then puts them top of

(03:53):
the hazld overall. And Wainui they also had an outright
win against nine to eight over at brian Heath so yeah,
p Tonyi and Johnsonville will be happy with the way
they've started their two day campaigns Onto today into round
two for them and it's nine to one at home
against Patoni, so a short short trip for po Toni

(04:13):
there winerw WE at home again brian Heath Park against
Johnsonville and Vicker at home again at Calvin as well.
They're up against North City. So another really good second
round of fixtures to look forward to and hopefully we
can see some exciting finishes next weekend for Day two
yeah great.

Speaker 1 (04:28):
And women's competition, Matt, they're still in the forty over
comp this weekend.

Speaker 2 (04:32):
That's correcting at round four last week. Round five today
last week City Suburbs they've got a win against Hut
by six wickets. Patni they went down to North City
again by five wickets. Those two are having some good
battles at the moment, but North City are finally getting
the rubb of the grain against them, those two that
are traditionally top teams and the women's comp So when's

(04:55):
the North City there by five wickets as I said,
Johnsonville they were against Collegiance. It was a very tight
finish with Johnsonvill warning by twelve runs. So some really
good type games in the women's grade this year as well,
which is good to see. On to round five today
in the forty over comfort's North City in Johnsonville there
clashing at London Park. Collegiance they're up against Upper Heart

(05:17):
that one at Karori Park and Patoni they Aregon City
Suburbs at Patoni reck All games starting at eleven o'clock,
men's games at ten thirty. So another really exciting round
in club cricket today.

Speaker 1 (05:28):
Yeah, it is indeed, and the weather's looking good too,
which is great, so hopefully our full days play for everyone.
Matt appreciates your time as always, have a great weekend
and we'll chat next Saturday.

Speaker 2 (05:36):
Absolutely, Thanks Adam.
