Speaker 1 (00:00):
And as we always do at this time on a
Saturday morning through these summer months, we talked bowls and
Jason Puddock as with us.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
Morning to you, Jace, Good morning Adam.
Speaker 1 (00:07):
Well let's look at the men's Masters first jays. Are
we to think sit there?
Speaker 2 (00:12):
Yeah? These were completed earlier in the week. It was
a good campaign for Wellington. Probably the first round is
what cost him in the end. We only picked up
half a point in the first round, while Manu Were
two picked up four points and the pretty man to
maintain that gap pretty much the whole way through that event.
So man and were two win that on sixteen wins.
Wellington was second on twelve and a half wins, Fong
(00:33):
Nui third on eleven wins, and then Capiti Coast Hawks
Bam Wirappa running out the top six.
Speaker 1 (00:38):
There, okay, I have great stuff. Now we were looking
at to inter club playoffs of course last week. Do
you want to run us through how things went there?
Speaker 2 (00:45):
Yeah? Look on the men's side of it up in Victoria,
this was a pretty close battle all the way through. Stakes.
Valley jumped out to a five point lead after round
one and maintain that through to round two. Over Victoria,
but Victoria on their home Greens came home strong, winning
two of their three games in the last round, while
Stakes Valley and He picked up one of three and
(01:06):
that pushed Victoria passed Stakes valleet, so Victoria finished on
forty five points, Stakes Valley on forty two nine nine,
third and thirty nine points, probably going to be a
little bit disappointed. They lost all three games in the
first round, two of those by one shot, and had
they won one of those games, they would have actually
won the events who came home very strong in those
(01:26):
last two rounds and Tony Central and He picked up
one win in their first campaign in the top four,
so they finished in eight points. Women's side, well, that's
a completely different story. Johnsonville athlete dominant from the start.
They jumped that quick and maintained that lead. They actually
went unbeaten through the day, winning eight and a half
games out of nine, so they finished on sixty four points.
(01:49):
Victoria was second on thirty seven Stakes Valley, the round
robin winners third on thirty one points, and Patuny Central
on five points. So Victoria and Johnson will now go
on to represent Wellington at the National Inter Club finals
and they will be played in Wellington from the fourth
to the sixth of April.
Speaker 1 (02:07):
Great stuff. And speaking of national tournament, obviously we've got
the national indecenters on at the moment Jays.
Speaker 2 (02:13):
Yes. So this kicked off in Wellington on Thursday for
our Woman, not a great start for them, but did
come up against a strong and Wykado side, going down
three new in that first game. They then had to
buy in their second game on Thursday. But heading into yesterday,
great bounce back which we'd like to see two big
three wins up first against Talk Spay and then followed
(02:36):
that up with the three and a win over South
Canterbury and then beating a very strong Canterbury team at
the end of the day two one. So that's put
them in a pretty good position and then the fates
in their own hands in that section at the moment,
Wykadow out in front on ten points, Canterbury and Wellington
tied on six points and Gisbon East Coast on four points.
(02:57):
Today the Woman head to the Wilton Bowling Club the
face Gisbon, Eese Coast and West Coast. If they can
finish in the top two next section and they'll be
playing their quarter final this afternoon at nine nine. At
three thirty, the men were there. Campaigns started yesterday with
a great win over a strong southn side three nil.
Then they had a tied match with Taraniki one and
(03:19):
a half wins apiece there and then a good win
over Thames Valley at the end of day two one.
So in their section, Wellington lead on five points, Gisbonese Coast,
Southland and Taranikei all on three points, so very tight section.
The men head up the parapround Beach this morning with
our face Gisbonese Coast and Marlborough. If they win that
(03:40):
first game that puts them in a strong position, but
it's a pretty close section, so maybe two wins are
going to be needed to get out of that one
and again if they can get out of that group,
they'll head down to Johnsonville for a three thirty start
in their quarter finals this afternoon.
Speaker 1 (03:55):
Right, Well, plenty happening Jason. That continues tomorrow, does it?
Should the teams get through those quarter finals yep.
Speaker 2 (04:00):
So we'll see the semifinals and the finals being played
at nine o tomorrow and they some of those games
will be tell advised as well, so keep an eye
out for that. But I mean, if if you're in
the Wellington region and you're a Bowl supporter, keep an
eye on the results. And if we've got teams, which
we hope to do in the semifinals tomorrow, head on
down and support them.
Speaker 1 (04:20):
Yeah and dat Sam. We'll bring you some of those
results through the day here on News Talks. I'd be
as well, Jace. Great to catch up. Another busy weekend,
so we'll let you get back to it. Appreciate your
time as always.
Speaker 2 (04:28):
No problem. Cheers at them For more from News Talk ZEDB.
