Speaker 1 (00:00):
So let's continue to look at the club sporting scene

(00:01):
though kicks starting another Saturday morning. Cricket also getting closer
to the playoffs and Matt Wilson, the head of Competitions
at Cricket Wellington, is with us. Morning to you, Matt,
Good morning, Adam. How are we I'm good? Thanks and yeah, well,
crunch time for a lot of the teams today, Matt,
across the different prem divisions that we'll be talking about,
and especially in the final rounds ahead of the final
in the Women's Premier competition today.

Speaker 2 (00:24):
Yeah, that's correct. The silverware is getting very close for
those teams that are in the running with both women
and men's competitions. Women's competition last week was round nine
today round ten to finish off final next week. Last week,
just quickly to recap Pa Toni, we're up in your
stuffer hut at Patoni Reck and Patoni. We're looking to

(00:45):
keep pace with Javi and Norse in the top two.
They did that thankfully, posting one hundred and forty seven
all out and they managed to dismiss Upper Heart for
ninety four. If anyone remembers last last weekend Saturday, it
was a very weird day with the weather stopped start
across many grounds with the rain and some DLS outcomes
were certainly coming into player at least people were starting

(01:07):
to think about it. But thankfully in this game to
Tony got it done, bowling up out to ninety four
and getting the points. Sadly, at Crory Park, the City
Suburbs Johnsonville game was abandoned, so Johnsonville only picked up
two points in that one, but City Suburbs had made
two hundred and nine in their forty overs, so it
would have been a challenging target for them. So of course,

(01:28):
with them in competition direct competition with Patoni for that
top two, the two points probably wasn't favorable. However, they
do head into today a point above them, which will
be a big game, which I'll get to in a second.
And finally, Collegians, they were up against North City, but
Norse made very light work of that one bold Collegians

(01:49):
out for eighty and Norse got target, got to the
target in just seven overs, which keeps them top of
the table and they are pretty much ashueing for home
advantage next week in the fine at Lindon Park, so
they'll be wrapped about that. On to today. The big
one of course is at Carori Park. It is Johnsonville
against Patoni for a place in the final next week.

(02:12):
Both teams separated by just a point, so hopefully it's
a good day of cricket today for both teams and
they can effectively challenge each other. And what is a
semi final really to make the final next week against
Norse City. So that's the big one at today. Collegians
and City suburbs they see out there forty over campaign
in the round robin today at Anderson Park against each other.

(02:35):
North City. Meanwhile they are up against Upper Hearts at
Grenada North and mathematically they still need to secure your
home advantage, so they'll be looking to get the job
done there. So some really exciting final rounds in the
women's competition today.

Speaker 1 (02:49):
Great salasen to hear that Corri Park will be a
bit of a thriller, I'd say, all right, And the
race of the playoffs continues in well two day cricket
and the men's comp matts and they'll go to the
Pars Cup First Division one and we're into day two
of the latest round matches.

Speaker 2 (03:03):
Yeah, that's right, Day two of round four, so just
one round to go after today before the Perce Cup
Final at the Basin Reserve on the fourth of April.
So just recapping last week at Stump's Upper Heart. We're
up against Corrii at Bartonovle. That one, of course a
cookshield challenge Upper Heart beholders, and they batted first, made
two hundred and seventy eight In reply. Corori are currently

(03:26):
one hundred and ninety two for six, so fairly evenly poised. However,
I think from an Upper Heart perspective, they'll be looking
to wrap that one up and gain Matt first innings
lead today and get closer to locking away the shield
for the winter Hut District they're up against Easts at
heart Wreck and Huts District are in a very commanding
position there. They're going to be looking at the artright

(03:48):
today for sure. They made three hundred and fifty four
for eight declared and bowled Easts out late on day
one for one hundred and sixty one with bad lights
certainly a factor at certain points late in the days
across the games, but your Hut will be feeling pretty
pretty confident in that one. And at Fraser Park it

(04:10):
is the battle of the current top two on the
overall ladder for the Peace Cup Final. At this stage
Tighter and Onslow and Title made two hundred and thirty
eight in reply Onslower seventy eight for three, so that
one fairly evenly poised. But from both teams perspectives, they'll
be looking to get a few more points on the
board to get them closer to securing that spot in

(04:32):
the Pest Cup Final, which of course has competed between
the top two teams. So some really interesting second days
ahead today in Division one, Yeah.

Speaker 1 (04:41):
Great, and we'll go down to Division two Matt the
Haslet Trophy also in today two of their matches. Are
we close to any outrights in these games yet?

Speaker 2 (04:50):
Yeah, there are a few that are certainly heading that way,
but a couple are still evenly poised. At Linden Park,
North are up against Why now we that one is
evenly poised there North madj one hundred and three are
for eight declared on day one having batted first. Currently,
why I know you're two one hundred and twenty nine
for five, so that one could go either way at
this stage, but first innings lead. Both teams will be

(05:12):
eyeing that up and looking to get the edge this
morning Johnsonville there against nine eye. That one was very
stop start last week with the rain. Johnsonville are currently
just eight runs short of a first inning, so nine
nine eight, one hundred and forty eight all out. Johnsonville
currently one hundred and forty one for three. Johnsonville of
course right up there in the mix at the top

(05:32):
of the table, so they'll really be looking to push
on today and get those points. And at Potny Reck,
which was counted as the big one for the round
with again two of the top three taking on each
other and Patoni and vic Uni Tony batted very well
on day one three hundred and thirty five eight clead,
and they currently got vic in what you would say
as a spot of boller bother at fifty eight for four.

(05:54):
So Potoni will be thinking they can probably wrap things
up today with a good bowling performance and put into
that again potentially, So that's certainly worth keeping an eye on.
At Patonia Wreck today in that game, wow, all.

Speaker 1 (06:06):
Right, plenty to play for across the different competitions, Matt,
so appreciate that, and we'll keep an eye on those
results right through the day here on News Talks, EDB
and Matt. We'll have a bit more clarity around those
playoff pictures when we chat next week.

Speaker 2 (06:18):
Absolutely big week next week, Adam. Thank you for more
from News Talks EDB. Listen live on air or online,
and keep
