Speaker 1 (00:00):

on the drive to work. We can be heard on
great radio stations like one oh four nine The Patriot
in Saint Louis, or Talk Radio ninety eight point three
and fifteen ten WLAC in Nashville and News Talk five
fifty k FYI and Phoenix, Arizona. Love to be a
part of your morning routine, but we're always grateful you're here.
(00:21):
Now enjoy the podcast.
Speaker 3 (00:23):
Well two three starting your morning off right.
Speaker 4 (00:27):
A new way of talk, a new way of understanding
because we're in this together.
Speaker 1 (00:34):
This is your morning show with Michael O'Dell John.
Speaker 2 (00:39):
Now, there are some mornings, if I was honest, I'd say,
you know what, go kick off fifteen minutes of NonStop music.
You won't miss a lot, right, this is not one
of them. Welcome to Tuesday, July the sixteenth, yev Our Lord,
twenty twenty four. If you are just waking up, you
are one of our esteemed platinum cards and shakers first
(01:01):
hour listeners. The ticket iss set Trump is selected Ohio
Senator JD Vance as his running mate Republican delegates formally
nominated Donald Trump to be their presidential nominee. That's three
for Donald Trump and a first to get three nominations
in servis as president. He'll officially accept a nomination in
a speech on Thursday that we made a triumphant appearance
(01:23):
with a bandage on his ear last night to an
electric convention center floor. Trump has one less legal worry
with a huge dismissal of his federal classified documents case.
The Director of Secret Service said saturday shooting was unacceptable,
but the buck stops with her and that's about where
the responsibility stops.
Speaker 1 (01:40):
Then she began to point figures at local law enforcement.
Speaker 2 (01:42):
Oopsie and said, all these reports about the shooter being spotted,
it was a very short period of time before the shooting,
and now we have video proof it was actually closer
to thirty minutes before the shooting. Vice President Harris is
calling on Republican vice presidential nominee jd Vance to accept
a proposed debate hosted by Steve Oh. He'll be there.
(02:06):
That's part of the selection reasoning. Tesla's CEO in the
World's Richest Man, Elon Musk, is preparing to give about
forty five million dollars a month to a new super
pack that supports Donald Trump for President Hernandez. The Dodgers
won the twenty twenty four home run derby last night
in the Major League All Star Game ninety fourth.
Speaker 1 (02:26):
I believe if I have my.
Speaker 2 (02:28):
Number right, Midsummer Classic will be tonight from Globe Life
Field in Arlington, Texas, seven o'clock on Fox. There's a
lot to cover today, and we'll cover it all. We
have a team sprawled out, including Rory O'Neil and John Decker,
Whitehouse correspondent, both reporting live from Milwaukee in the Republican Convention.
Chris Walker, a GOP analyst and consultant, we'll talk to
(02:49):
us about the JD vance running mate choice. I think
you know it wasn't my first pick, but I see
the sense of it, and I think in the end
I would point to the trump ism I guess see
moving forward would be the reasoning there. And James Carafano
and just what was the Secret Services failure? Was an
issue of poor planning, lack of personnel, or even worse.
(03:10):
We'll visit with Lieutenant Colonel later on, and as always,
we kick things off with Aaron Rayal, who has a
story on the value of bitcoin. Like everything else, jumped
with the news of Donald Trump a surviving an assassination
attack and b looking.
Speaker 1 (03:25):
More and more likely to be president again. Good morning
erin good morning.
Speaker 5 (03:29):
Yes, so we are seeing him survive this assassination Trump
and much like other things with Trump in his personal
life and in his professional life. The DJT stock ticker
that represents the Donald Trump media and technology group, it
had a serious jump Monday. Thirty percent of it's trading
around forty dollars fifty eight cents on Monday morning, and
(03:51):
this is incredible. That is interesting because it also comes
as Bitcoin rises, and now it's kind of this intrinsic
link between Donald Trump and big coin and a lot
of these what they're calling Trump trades. We discussed them
briefly yesterday, but they're all seeing a bump as of
Monday's trading, and we'll see what happens going into Tuesday.
Speaker 2 (04:10):
I'm trying to figure out, no, I guess not well.
The Dow finished at forty two hundred and eleven. I'm
trying to think if that's an all time high. I
don't think it is. I think four and twenty is
an all time high, but darn near close to it.
Speaker 5 (04:26):
Yes, we are. All the indexes finished close to record
high levels.
Speaker 2 (04:30):
So I mean, it's just across the board. And we
talked about that baked in the cake uncertainty that's in
the market and when it starts seeing One of the
largest jumps in Wall Street history, of course, was the
night after the election when Donald Trump defeated Hillary Clinton.
Speaker 1 (04:46):
Policies matter.
Speaker 2 (04:47):
Companies will make certainty out of uncertainty, but once certainly
clear is its way. You see a reaction this one
clearly across the board, and I guess we would see
it returned down if things look differently in the polls
in the near future. But right now, everything's riding high.
Speaker 5 (05:03):
Everything is riding high at the moment, and we don't
expect to see a downturn because again, these are all
associated with Trump and policies that if we're talking about
you know, it depends on what you're talking about specifically,
but if we're talking about bitcoin specifically, Trump has been
much more accommodating to bitcoin. He is actually his campaign
(05:24):
has begun accepting donations in crypto in May, and his
messaging around cryptocurrency.
Speaker 1 (05:30):
Has become really positive.
Speaker 5 (05:32):
He has taken the endorsement of the Winkelvoss Brothers, and
he's kind of positioned himself against Democrats who want to
reign in the sector we're talking about, like Elizabeth Warren
and many many others. So he has yet to have
any detailed proposals of how he's going to proceed with crypto,
but he's about to speak at the annual Bitcoin conference
later this month. It's a massive conference. Of the fact
(05:52):
that he's there says a lot.
Speaker 2 (05:54):
All right, that's bitcoin specifically. Then we get to his
organization and that is not one that is normally based
on business model, right, So I would say, I would
say the others are rising because of the policies he represents. Uh,
the one that is his company, well, that's got to
(06:14):
be writing.
Speaker 1 (06:15):
Out his name obviously.
Speaker 2 (06:16):
If Donald Trump is gone in November, what's the future
of you know, his social media sites.
Speaker 1 (06:23):
So that's why those.
Speaker 5 (06:25):
Were question Essentially, The company warned investors last month that
if Trump uses other social media platforms beyond Truth Social,
which is the company the parent company DJT Trump Media
and Technology Group owns Truth Social, Trump is the majority shareholder,
they warrant investors that it could have materially adverse effects
(06:45):
on the business and or operations, basically saying it could
go bankrupt. It brought in three hundred million in the
first excuse me, it lost three hundred million in the
first quarter and brought in seven hundred thousand. This is
a wildly volatile stock. Actually, following Trump's felony conviction of
the three weeks after, it was down fifty percent and
now obviously we have it up thirty percent on Monday.
(07:08):
It is not tethered to fundamentals in any conceivable way,
but it is tethered to Donald Trump. When he you know,
when his boat rises with the tide, so does this
dock brace.
Speaker 1 (07:18):
That's what I found so interesting about your report today.
Speaker 2 (07:20):
Bitcoin because of the policies he represents Nasdac dow All
because of the policies represents this last one because of
his name and the.
Speaker 1 (07:31):
Fact that it won't be going away for four years.
Speaker 2 (07:33):
Although I will add to that Tesla's CEO is going
to be giving forty five million dollars a month to
a super pac supporting Donald Trump. He might want to
do some posts on Twitter after elected as well. Super elected.
All right, I guess on the Trump stock itself might
be good to have and then might be good to sell.
Speaker 1 (07:50):
Right after the election, But I don't do this for
a living.
Speaker 5 (07:55):
Yeah, and it's only for people who have extreme tolerance
for risk. Some of it is a memes doc. It
is not. It has nothing to do with the company
that it actually represents in terms of its performance in
the market. It is almost completely tethered to Donald J. Trump,
and again he's the majority shareholder in it. So if
you're looking at I am always curious about the company
(08:16):
STLF because Donald Trump is so good at media and
it positions itself as a media and tech company, and
I guess like every media company is theoretically a tech
company in the world we live in today. But I
feel like if you just launched a TV network, it would.
Speaker 1 (08:30):
Do wildly well.
Speaker 2 (08:31):
This is exactly what we're going to talk about next
hour when you return, and exactly could be on the
plate if he wins. And I think in jd vance,
you know, I don't think Donald Trump Junior is far
off in four years somewhere on the ticket as well
for the Trump brand to continue more with Aaron Real
Next Hour, good reporting, We'll talk to them all right.
(08:51):
If you're just waking up thirty. The Republican National Convention
made plenty of headlines.
Speaker 1 (08:59):
On its first day.
Speaker 2 (09:00):
Former President Donald Trump made his running made choice Ohio
Senator JD. Vance, and he was officially nominated on the
convention floor.
Speaker 6 (09:08):
It is therefore my honor to nominate Ohio Senator JD.
Vance for the office of Vice President of the United.
Speaker 1 (09:17):
States of America.
Speaker 2 (09:19):
Meanwhile, Trump won the Republican Party's nomination for president. He
will officially accept the nomination in a speech on Thursday night,
but that didn't stop Trump from making a triumphant early
visit to the convention on night one. Rob Dawson begins
our team coverage.
Speaker 7 (09:33):
Republican nominee in twenty twenty four has made an appearance
into the five Serve Forum, lifting his fists up and
now the chance of fight, fight, fight as everyone looks
towards the former president and shouts those words, Those same
words that Trump shouted after he was shot on Saturday
(09:55):
in Butler, Pennsylvania. His ear is covered with abandoned and
he's looking on with his family and his newly minted
vice presidential running mates JD.
Speaker 1 (10:07):
Vance.
Speaker 4 (10:08):
Trump entered the Republican National Convention Monday evening to a
live performance of League green Woods Gone Bless the USA
and widespread applause from the crowd.
Speaker 1 (10:16):
The crowd also.
Speaker 4 (10:16):
Chanted fight, Fight, Fight, as Trump appeared in the arena
and took a seat in the VIP box alongside his
running made Ohio Senator JD. Vance, his sons Donald Trump
Junior and Eric Trump, and House speaker Mike Johnson. He
was sporting a bandage on his ear where he was
hit with a bullet. Trump on Monday officially secured the
GOP nomination for president. I'm Mark Neyfield.
Speaker 2 (10:36):
I had a friend of mine, Pete Cristiano, said, had
he come out with a American flag patch on his ear,
that would have been pro.
Speaker 1 (10:42):
That might have been too much. Listen.
Speaker 2 (10:45):
I think Donald Trump, and I'm in all indications from
those who have visited with him, is a changed man.
Coming that close to death, and we'll get our real
first glimpse of a change Donald Trump with his accept
speech on Thursday night. Meanwhile, Joe Biden, President of the
United States, says he should have never said bullseye when
(11:07):
discussing Donald Trump.
Speaker 8 (11:08):
With a mistake to use. I didn't say crosshairs. I've
been bulls and focus.
Speaker 2 (11:13):
On him will initially saying it was a mistake to
use the word. He continued to say he hasn't engaged
in that rhetoric, then accused Trump of using questionable language.
Speaker 1 (11:22):
Again.
Speaker 2 (11:22):
A lot of people who didn't quite hear enough from
Joe Biden on Sunday Night would point to that he
took no personal responsibility for his role in raising the
political temperature in vitriol in this country. And we're watching
both presidential candidates, the media and the American people. I'd
(11:46):
say Joe Biden is so far looking like the first
to be words only and not action. Meanwhile, and it
shouldn't take this independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Junior
will receive protection from Secrets Servis more for Mark Mayfield.
Speaker 4 (12:02):
Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Majorcis said President Biden directed him
to work with the Secret Service to provide Kennedy protection.
Biden's order came two days after an assassination attempt on
former President Trump. In a post on ex Kennedy thanks
Biden for granting him Secret Service protection. The candidate has
been asking for Secret Service protection for months, given that
(12:22):
Kennedy's father Senator Robert F. Kennedy and uncle President John F.
Kennedy were both assassinated.
Speaker 2 (12:29):
I'm Mark Mayfield, the director of the Secret Service, said
saturday shooting of shooting attempt at the life of president
to former President Donald Trump and Pennsylvania was unacceptable. In
an interview with ABC News, director Kimberly Cheadle said it's
her responsibility as the head of the agency to investigate
what happened. I disagree, and to make sure it doesn't
(12:49):
happen again. I also disagree. I think accountability would be
replacing her. However, she also responded to reports about the
shooter being spotted before the incident happened, saying it was
a very very short period of time.
Speaker 1 (13:04):
Really, Brian Shook has more.
Speaker 6 (13:05):
That's according to WPXI Channel eleven news in Pennsylvania, which
cited multiple law enforcement sources. The outlet says a source
confirmed one of Beaver County's team of snipers and spotters
saw a suspicious man on the roof at about five
point forty five pm local time, took a picture and
called it in. Channel eleven said it's not clear if
(13:27):
Thomas Crooks had a gun with him when he was
first spotted twenty six minutes after the picture was taken.
Shots rang out, killing one rally attendee and injuring Trump.
Speaker 1 (13:37):
I'm Brian Shook. Short period of time documented thirty minutes
prior to the shooting.
Speaker 2 (13:46):
He's not off to a very good start issue and
making sure this never happens again. Model rapper television personality
Amber Rose. What an interesting choice to speak. We're gonna
talk a little bit later about hits and flops at
the convention. Well, you're gonna I hear also about younger
polling numbers. It made perfect sense to have a model
(14:06):
rapper television personality Amber Rose give her support to Donald
Trump at the convention, and boy did she do it well.
Speaker 9 (14:15):
When you go to the store and buy food for
your family, you're shocked. When you fill up your gas tank,
you're pissed. I know, I am.
Speaker 2 (14:24):
She was part of the everyday people that we're speaking
in a segment, and she explained why hers she supports
Donald Trump at the convention.
Speaker 1 (14:32):
Here's how it sounded.
Speaker 9 (14:34):
My message to tonight comes from a humble place. The
left told me to hate Trump, and even worse, to
hate the other side, the people who support him. When
you cut through the lies, you realize the truth. American
families were better when Donald Trump was president.
Speaker 1 (14:49):
That's powerful messaging, all right.
Speaker 2 (14:51):
Top five stories of the day behind us Onto Sports
taoscar Harnandez is the twenty twenty four Major League Baseball

final round of defeat Royal shortstop Bobby Witt Junior in

(15:35):
That's roughly my age. Phoebe Kates is sixty years old today.
And if it's your birthday, you get very nice.
Speaker 1 (15:44):
This is your morning show with Michael Del Tuna.
Speaker 2 (15:48):
What a busy busy newsday. We'll try to bring it
into perspective for you. The ticket is set, Trump and JD. Vance,
the wisdom of Vance coming up convention hits and flops,
and some the flops and why they were positioned in
first impression versus in between or last impression, and then
the real hits Trump, JD. Vance, Amber Rose, Sean O'Brien
(16:11):
of the teamsters, Tim Scott, and the way they do
coverage in general. Listen, I on armchair quarterback. But you
know it's okay to fill for music or you know,
lower name speakers, but more when you get into prime
time to be doing interviews over speakers, which clearly happened
(16:33):
a lot on Fox last night. But I want to
I want to share with you a little bit when
we come back about how CNN picked and choosed. But
although they were mostly respectful to all speakers, they made
sure you didn't miss Charlie Kirk, they made sure you
didn't miss a second and Bargerie Taylor Green. You know,
is there anywhere to watch? I guess c SPAN be
the only way to watch the convention without interruption too.
Speaker 1 (16:55):
We'll have some too.
Speaker 2 (16:56):
Yeah, we'll cover the hits and flops of convention Night one,
when we come back, got your morning show. Hi, I'm
Michael del Jhno, and your morning show can be heard
live as it's happening five to eight am Central at
six to nine Eastern on great stations like six twenty
WJDX at Jackson, Mississippi, or Akrons, News Talk six forty
WHLO and Akron, Ohio and News Radio five seventy WDAK
(17:18):
and Columbus, Georgia. Love to be a part of your
morning routine. But we're glad you're here now enjoyed the podcast.
If I'm Michael del Jorno. It is Tuesday, July the sixteenth,
the morning after Night one of the convention. The ticket
is now set. Donald Trump has selected JD. Vance as
his running mate. I think Donald Trump Junior may have
(17:38):
had the biggest negotiating say in this, but he convinced
his father, and his father's made the choice in the end.
I think it's twofold one. I think it covers the
Rust Belt. It shows that Donald Trump realizes he's in
a big lead and he has the luxury of securing
trump Ism within the Republican Party.
Speaker 1 (17:59):
And JD.
Speaker 2 (17:59):
Van was probably a very tough call between Jdvance and
Marco Rubio a coin flip. I think what they really
liked were two things about JD Vance, his personal story
and the fact that he once didn't support Trump and
now does very similar Similar to Amber Rose's speech during
the Everyday American segment of the convention last night, this
(18:20):
is going to be powerful messaging, powerful messaging, especially in
light of the new hopeful United messaging versus Elect Biden.
Were at the end of the country, Elect Trump, It's
the end of democracy. This is going to be new messaging.
And I think that gave jd Event the advantage over
Marco Rubio. But also don't forget his appeal going into Michigan,
(18:41):
into Wisconsin, into Minnesota, and just across his border in
Ohio over to Pennsylvania. I want to tell Sa Gabbard,
and I could easily be wrong. JD Vance makes a
lot of sense, and it began yesterday. He was very
very well received in Night one. If we're going to
look at hits and flops at the convention, Night one,
(19:03):
Jade Vance was certainly a hit. Republican delegates formally nominated
President Trump, and though he will officially accept the nomination
in a speech on Thursday night. He made an appearance,
a triumphant return to the stage on night one, wearing
a patch over his ear and with one less legal worry,
a huge dismissal of his federal classified documents case, one
(19:25):
that will probably be appealed, but another example of law fair,
like the assassination attempt that failed. Speaking of the assassination attempt,
the Secret Service director, he said, the shooting was unacceptable,
and the buck stops with her, and then she blamed
local law enforcement, and then she misspoke. While all these
(19:49):
reports you're hearing about the shooter being cited early, it
was a very short period of time before the shooting,
and it turns out the timeline is closer.
Speaker 1 (19:56):
To thirty minutes.
Speaker 2 (20:00):
I mean, we're gonna talk to Littena Colonel James Carafano
a little bit later on about this. But the reality is,
is this lack of personnel, lack of priority, poor execution
one hundred and thirty yards away with a straight shot
at the stage, or was it something more sinister? Finger
pointing is all you have right now, and I don't
(20:21):
think we want the finger pointers and those that were
derelicting their duty to be the ones investigating this. I
love my favorite story of the day, believe it or not,
out of everything that went on. Vice President Harris immediately
responding to the choice of jd Vance and calling on
a Republican vice presidential nominee to accept a propose debate
hosted Oh He'll be there.
Speaker 1 (20:43):
That may be that what I'm in the middle of
doing a show? Are you serious? What is going on?
Fatty Jared wants to do an editorial? Oh wow? Cool
to say that.
Speaker 10 (21:01):
While I've enjoyed my stay in Milwaukee.
Speaker 3 (21:04):
And it has been a thrilling and exciting as a
nonpartisan to be a part of such a national don'tch
I am appalled at only a one hour and fifteen
minute dinner break. That is simply not enough time to
enjoy all the textures and the flavors that Milwaukee has
to offer. I could barely get down my whole Petral
(21:25):
white beer in that amount of time. Also, Wisconsin is
known for cheese.
Speaker 10 (21:33):
Oh my gosh, I have never met a cheese I
didn't love.
Speaker 3 (21:37):
In fact, sometimes when I get a cheese cracker, away
from me a cracker and just give me the cheese.
A very very low amount of pastries I'm very disappointed.
I thought there'd be more tasty pastries even at Krispy Green.
Speaker 1 (21:52):
Tray would have been a nice dible. People don't realize this,
but hey, hey, what's that way?
Speaker 10 (22:02):
Come on?
Speaker 1 (22:02):
Come on?
Speaker 3 (22:03):
Oh hey, my dogs just too hide based out. Anyway,
he's my emotional support. Well, he and a pot roast. Anyway,
there's a long story short. I couldn't believe I got
made my way to the concourse.
Speaker 1 (22:20):
Of the Something five center.
Speaker 3 (22:24):
They never named Marina's after some of our favorite eateries
like McDonald spurger king er, how about my holyland white Castle?
Speaker 10 (22:32):
Anyway, where was o hey right, hey, hey, hey.
Speaker 1 (22:37):
Wake up, wake up?
Speaker 3 (22:38):
No, So I made my way to the concourse and
all they had were dipping' dots. No stone cold creamery,
which I appreciate. There's nothing like the sight of.
Speaker 10 (22:47):
Them folding fold after fold of rich, creamy flavor and delicious. Anyway,
so a pretty decent convention, like well, I mean that
it's okay Trump, Okay.
Speaker 1 (22:57):
He's official. Hey, hey, hey, hey, wake up.
Speaker 3 (23:02):
But you know, gotta have more pastries, gotta have a
cold stolen creamery, and I think more textures and flavors
in the buffet.
Speaker 10 (23:11):
Liners shortly, a lot more time to eat.
Speaker 3 (23:17):
I'm Fatty Jared reporting live from Milwaukee in the Republican Convention.
Speaker 1 (23:21):
Thank you.
Speaker 2 (23:24):
Right in the middle of my show. Now I gotta
follow that. That is awesome, all right, hits and flops
real quickly.
Speaker 1 (23:33):
Hits. Donald Trump.
Speaker 2 (23:37):
A centimeter from being assassinated, is on the floor Monday
night giving everybody that didn't speak. You know, I went
all day long thinking, oh, I'd make him wait all
the way till Thursday to see your face. And then
I thought, okay, well, if he doesn't speak, what I
thought would happened, like, I'll be hypercritical for a second.
(23:59):
Lee Greenwood gets his hair done at the same salon
I do. I get to spend time only.
Speaker 1 (24:05):
True, my mother raised me, if you have nothing good
to say, say nothing at all. So I'll move on quickly.
Speaker 2 (24:08):
But if you're going to have him come out and
sing an iconic song that was really really came to
fame during the Reagan administration, very American, signature American song.
Speaker 1 (24:16):
I mean it's at George m cohan of Our.
Speaker 2 (24:18):
Day, just him come out and sing it, and then
right when he gets to the crescendo end, then have
the president come out out of nowhere with his new
running mate.
Speaker 1 (24:31):
That's the moment, right, and.
Speaker 2 (24:33):
Then let the moment just be kind of like Robert
Kennedy at the convention where the standing ovation for JFK
that he received lasted for minutes.
Speaker 1 (24:43):
That's an iconic moment.
Speaker 2 (24:45):
So first they show him on the screen back in
the concourse, so you can see him before you know,
you can get a reaction.
Speaker 1 (24:56):
Then while everybody's reacting to Donald Trump, ladies and gentlemen,
Lee Greenwood, and.
Speaker 2 (25:01):
Then the song starts, and then Trump comes out and
the song continues. And if you're watching Fox, they didn't
even show Lee Greenwood singing.
Speaker 1 (25:06):
In the song. You see Trump pointing at people and
waving as a song.
Speaker 2 (25:11):
Now, I think the moment might have played better in
person than on television, and everybody was there says it
was simply electric. I would have probably orchestrated it different.
Speaker 1 (25:19):
I would have definitely orchestrated and.
Speaker 2 (25:21):
Quite frankly, I would have had cold Stone Creamery and
a lot more cheese. If you're in Milwaukee, if I
can take a moment and agree with Jared, make a
long story short, Donald Trump's appearance electrify the so Donald
Trump a huge shit. Jd Vance a huge shit, sing
them together a huge hit. I thought Tim Scott's speech
was great. I thought A wrote Tim Scott, of course,
(25:43):
a great person to be speaking, and did a great job.
Amber Rose, I think was the most effective of the
everyday Americans. She addressed the youth, and she addressed those
that bought the lies and the narratives and the fear
tactics of Trump and is there to repent.
Speaker 1 (25:58):
That's a big part of Jade Vance's story.
Speaker 2 (26:00):
Two that will unfold, and I think it folds nicely in,
not like a cold stum creery, but folds in nicely
to the new message of hope and unity that's coming
Thursday night with Donald Trump. Amber Rose definitely hit. I
thought Sean O'Brien in the Teamsters Union, which is a
policy tricky thing, is a huge hit. Red said it
(26:23):
this way, and I can't say it any better, and
I won't steal his words. What it visually and audibly
represented as Democrats are no longer the party of the
blue collar working man and woman.
Speaker 1 (26:38):
They're now the party of Hollywood and elites.
Speaker 2 (26:44):
And that appearance by the Teamsters wouldn't go so far
as to call it an endorsement, but an endorsement of
at least having an open mind and welcoming the Teamsters
could represent along with JD. Vance the play for Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin,
I'll throw in Minnesota as well. It represents the Democrats
(27:09):
are losing the heart of their base, the working class Americans,
and not just to Donald Trump, but as JD. Vance
will be on the scene long after and Donald Trump
Junior long after trump Ism for years to come. That
was very significant. Then we get to the missus. Well
(27:30):
you put in you know, Katie bred after the rough
State of the Union response, Katie Britt, she was there,
shot her puppy, Christy Nome was there, Charlie Kirk was there,
Marjorie Taylor Green and CNN did a great job making
sure you heard all of their speeches uninterrupted, and it
probably gave some people the feeling of, well, why would
(27:52):
you do that? An opening night, I mean, bury him somewhere.
Open Night was a great an opening night that would
be overshadowed by JD. Vance and then later Donald Trump
and then a grand finale finish with everyday Americans, including
the Teamsters union head. I think it was a good
night to put him in, and it's a big party,
(28:12):
and you got to put him in somewhere, and you
got him out of the way. Those are the hits
and misses in my perspective from the convention. I will
remind everyone that Faddy Jared's commentary doesn't necessarily represent the
views of your morning show.
Speaker 4 (28:32):
Hey, this is Lee Murphy in Cottontown, Tennessee. My morning
show is your morning show with Michael Bill Jorno.
Speaker 1 (28:40):
We don't tell you how to think, it will get you.
Give you a lot to think about.
Speaker 2 (28:43):
I saw in Amber Rose's Everyday American address last night.
I see in the story of jd Vance. I see
laced early and throughout the Republican Convention, the messages. It's
okay to have hated Trump, it is okay to maybe
not even like him, but you've got to come to
an understanding of how he served and what America was
(29:06):
like when he served. Take away the person, focus on
the policy and us, and I think that's a brilliant
way to invite people to repentance. It's a brilliant strategy
playing out just some of what went on yesterday in
a very very busy news filled Day in Milwaukee. Top
(29:26):
five stories of the day.
Speaker 1 (29:30):
Well, It's official ticket. A set Brian Shook as our
Road to the White House.
Speaker 6 (29:37):
Rode to the White House. Twenty twenty four, Former President
Trump has picked Ohio Senator JD. Vance as his running mate.
Trump made the announcement on his truth social account. Vance
was elected to the Senate in twenty twenty two and
represents a key swing state in the twenty twenty four race. Meantime,
Iowa Republican Party Chair Jeff Kaufman formally nominated Trump for
(29:59):
p as the Republican National Convention got underway Monday in Milwaukee.
Speaker 2 (30:04):
It is my honor to nominate Donald J.
Speaker 6 (30:09):
Trump for the office the President of the United States.
Around twenty four hundred delegates from around the country are
also officially nominating Trump. In Washington, I'm Brian Shook.
Speaker 2 (30:23):
We While President Biden sat down with NBC and Lester
Holt had admitted he shouldn't have used the word bullseye
when discussing Trump.
Speaker 8 (30:30):
It was a mistake to use I didn't say crosshairs,
I've bulls on the focus on him.
Speaker 2 (30:37):
While initially saying it was a mistake to use the word,
he continued to say that he hasn't engaged in that
type of rhetoric and then accused Donald Trump of questionable language.
Speaker 1 (30:46):
It took him less than twenty.
Speaker 2 (30:47):
Four hours to break his promise and start blaming the
President for his own assassination attempt. Meanwhile, the director of
the Secret Service said saturday shooting in Pennsylvania was unacceptable.
In an interview with ABC News, director Kimberly Cheatle said,
a She's not going anywhere. The buck stops with her.
She takes four responsibility, but she ain't leaving. In fact,
(31:08):
the person who created the unacceptable outcome wants to be
the one to investigate it. Probably her worst woman was
when she responded to reports about the shooter being spotted
before the incident happened. She said, oh, it was a
very short period of time, as simultaneously the news was
breaking with all of the videos from phones to prove
(31:29):
the shooter who attempted to assassinate Donald Trump was reported
spotted by law enforcement almost a half hour before any
shots were fired, though Brian Shook reports.
Speaker 6 (31:42):
That's according to WPXI Channel eleven news in Pennsylvania, which
cited multiple law enforcement sources. The outlet says a source
confirmed one of Beaver County's team of snipers and spotters
saw a suspicious man on the roof at about five
forty five pm local time. He took a picture and
called it in. Channel eleven said it's not clear if
(32:04):
Thomas Crooks had a gun with him when he was
first spotted. Twenty six minutes after the picture was taken,
shots rang out, killing one rally attendee and injuring Trump.
Speaker 2 (32:14):
I'm Brian Shook. Obviously, JD Vance was a huge hit.
Trump's triumphant returned to the convention floor for an early
peak at him since the assassination attempt the hugest moment
of the night, Tim Scott had some good moments. Amberrose
in the Everyday American segment, giving everybody an invitation to
admit they were wrong in twenty six to believe narratives
(32:35):
and demonizations. But what a huge moment to have the
international brotherhood of Teamster's president take the stage and talk
about how the Teamsters themselves are not welcome among Democrats,
but are among Republicans. He also wanted to say that
(32:58):
American families know deep down the system is broken. Made
history is the first head of the Union to ever
address the RNC.
Speaker 11 (33:06):
I think we can all agree DC is a pretty
treacherous area. Most legislation is never meant to go anywhere,
and it's all talk. And in America, talk isn't cheap.
It's very expensive and it comes at the cost of
our own country.
Speaker 1 (33:22):
We call for policies that benefit the American workers.
Speaker 11 (33:25):
We need trade policies that put American workers first. It
needs to be easier for companies to remain in America.
Speaker 2 (33:36):
Teamster's president Sean O'Brien one of the many hits at
the Republican.
Speaker 1 (33:41):
Opening night of convention. There were some flops, but that
was a hit. Worst flop of the day.
Speaker 2 (33:47):
Do we have a little clip of the national anthem
before the Major League Baseball All Star Game home run contest?
Speaker 8 (33:53):
This?
Speaker 2 (33:54):
I never heard of her until today, Ingrid Andrews. And
she's a singer, right, Oh.
Speaker 1 (34:03):
Yeah, she is.
Speaker 6 (34:04):
The saddest part is she is a really good singer.
Speaker 1 (34:08):
I'm convinced she could not hear herself.
Speaker 2 (34:13):
My son looked at me Nick and said, Dad, I
don't want to say anything, but I could have sung
it better than that, And I'm told deaf. I had
the same initial thought you did we all owe Roseanne
an apology? Y?
Speaker 1 (34:28):
Yeah, we really do.
Speaker 2 (34:30):
That really was one of the worst national anthems.
Speaker 1 (34:34):
That poor thing. Can you imagine waking up people? Are
you know they're going to play clips of that? Speaking
of the home run derby, guess who won?
Speaker 2 (34:41):
Tao scar Hanandez of the Los Angeles Dodgers. Not a
very impressive last round of fourteen homers, but enough to
defeat Royal shortstop Bobby Witch Junior to win the home
run Derby.
Speaker 1 (34:53):
We're all in this together. This is your morning show
with Michael Hill showing up
Speaker 9 (35:00):
At the
