Are you kidding me with this Paris Olympics opening ceremony?
It's all going to be in the open and no
(00:59):
ten required. I'm shocked anyone would even allow this to
take place this way, all this risk for an optic Yeah,
I'll remind you a billion people expected to be watching
to boot, although I'm sure it will be breathtaking. What
could possibly go wrong? Well, we've already had an attack
on the rail system that may prohibit.
Speaker 1 (01:22):
A quarter of a million people from being able to attend.
Speaker 2 (01:25):
Thoughts and prayers for the security of these Olympic Games,
and I know a lot of money has been spent
as well, Kathy wrote, Harris told eighteen to twenty four
year olds they were stupid.
Speaker 1 (01:35):
Sean handed He played the clip on his TV and.
Speaker 2 (01:37):
Radio show yesterday. Well, I'm very ware of the clip.
That's not your biggest problem with eighteen to twenty four
year olds. It's the cost of college. It's the dream
of home ownership looking out of reach. I don't have
to tell you the younger you are that four dollars
a gallon gets really tough. Rent gets really tough. Groceries
(01:59):
and nights out on the town get really tough. There
is a lot of problems, not the least of which
is this candidate once called them stupid, And we did
have that poll earlier today that showed they are really
struggling with young voters, still even with Kamala. So the
Democrats put a new face on the party, but they're
(02:21):
still struggling with black votes, still struggling with the Hispanic votes,
still struggling with the youth vote, still struggling with mail.
Speaker 1 (02:26):
Vote, and the poll showing Donald Trump is still in
the lead.
Speaker 5 (02:29):
So about the only thing new to add to that
is the Obamas finally came out and joined the Kamala
train with a video recorded call endorsing Kamala Harris this morning.
Speaker 1 (02:40):
All right, we're all set down, you're up to speed.
It's Friday. Let's bring on the former president. It's Friday
with forty five. Good morning, mister president.
Speaker 6 (02:54):
Well it's a great morning to you. Pezza boy.
Speaker 7 (02:56):
I have to say this, and a lot has changes
the last time we talked. But at least we saw
Crooked Joe, and we hope he's feeling okay.
Speaker 6 (03:05):
It looks like he's not feeling okay. But I don't
know if if he's ever felt okay.
Speaker 7 (03:10):
But we're doing very well, and I heard you're doing
very well. I got the writings again this week. We
haven't said that in a long time. I got the
writings through the route like a rocket ship.
Speaker 6 (03:19):
You understand that we're going to the moon, We're going
to Mars.
Speaker 7 (03:21):
We're actually going to beat Elon there.
Speaker 6 (03:23):
We love a lot.
Speaker 7 (03:24):
We actually loved Elan a lot, and we have forty
five million reasons per month to love Elan a lot.
Speaker 6 (03:29):
But we're doing very.
Speaker 2 (03:31):
Well well and those ratings are always highest on Friday,
So our thanks to you.
Speaker 1 (03:35):
All right, so Joe's out, Kamala is in. You've already
made the pivot.
Speaker 2 (03:41):
I thought one of the more interesting stories was that
if they're going to pull a bait and switch and
he's fine to finish this hundred days, maybe you should
get your money back for all your advertising that you spend.
Speaker 7 (03:51):
Well, we should. You know, they talk about you know,
Ejeen Carroll. They talk about Latisia James, fraud, misrepresentation, falsifying,
and we were told for a very long time we
were running against crooked Joe, who I would consider I've
never said this about him before. He's a highly respected person,
as is doctor Jill.
Speaker 6 (04:12):
I call her Doppler Jill, like.
Speaker 7 (04:13):
The Doubler radar, because you've seen her dresses. It looks
like a severe thunderstore morning.
Speaker 6 (04:18):
But these are people, and they're not very happy about it.
I can tell you that they're not very happy.
Speaker 7 (04:23):
About it, about what went on, and it's very unfortunate,
very unfortunate to see what they did to the poor guy.
Speaker 6 (04:31):
Very unfortunate.
Speaker 7 (04:33):
But you look at this and you look at what happened,
it really is terrible.
Speaker 6 (04:39):
We should be.
Speaker 7 (04:40):
Getting a lot of our money back. We really should
because we were making ads and putting things out about
Crooked Joe. We talked about how he pooped in front
of the pulp.
Speaker 6 (04:49):
And he dealt it. I smelt it. I can tell
you that, and it was terrible. We had that happen
on the Debense stage.
Speaker 2 (04:54):
If you know, by the way, just for the record,
the Vatican has neither confirmed or denied that event took place.
Speaker 6 (05:00):
Oh it is confirmed. It's confirmed. Don't be fake news.
Speaker 7 (05:03):
It's confirmed, people, And we can even say it in Spanish,
just in case anybody doesn't know. Sleepy Hopefuek and Frinday
Day Papa. But we had the ads all ready to go.
We had the ads and the October surprise is going
to be on Halloween. We were going to talk about tutsios.
Now we can't do that, so we want our money back.
Speaker 6 (05:22):
We'll see what happens.
Speaker 2 (05:24):
Already, the lawsuit has been filed over the transferring of
money that has been donated the delegates.
Speaker 1 (05:29):
Kind of looks like lawfair might be in your court.
Speaker 6 (05:31):
Now, well, we'll see what goes on.
Speaker 7 (05:33):
You know, these processes take a very long time, but
we want the American people to know there is one
threat to democracy in this country.
Speaker 6 (05:41):
And it's the Democrat Party.
Speaker 7 (05:42):
You look at this, they elected somebody fifteen million people.
Speaker 6 (05:47):
That's a lot of people. Fifteen million. Not as many
as I get at one rally.
Speaker 7 (05:51):
I usually get about forty million, but it's okay, fifteen
million people.
Speaker 6 (05:55):
It's a lot of votes, a lot of votes.
Speaker 7 (05:57):
And they were thrown now, they were throwing right out
the window, which is a shame, it really is. It's
a shame they threw them out. The people voted for
a crooked Joe. I don't know why they did that,
but they've voted the crooked Joe. And now those people
are being told your voices don't matter, your votes don't matter,
nothing matters, and it's really unfortunate, it really is.
Speaker 1 (06:18):
And the threat, you're the threat to democracy.
Speaker 7 (06:21):
That they call me the threat except I've never thrown
a single vote out. We take all the votes. We
love the votes, we love the people. If you vote
for me, we say we love you. If you don't,
we say you know not so.
Speaker 6 (06:32):
Great things about you. But you know, you could look
at this and you see what they did.
Speaker 7 (06:37):
They took these votes, they threw them out, and they
have completely usurped the process. If I was a Democrat
Party voter, I would be very upset.
Speaker 6 (06:45):
I would be very upset about it. But we see
these people are going along to get along, and it's
a shame. But this is horrible.
Speaker 7 (06:52):
These are the real threats to democracy. They've completely destroyed
their process, and they want to be ashamed of themselves.
Speaker 2 (06:58):
A lot has happens. Visited Friday with forty five. Well,
we saw the hearings with the Secret Service director. You
had to be pleased. Democrats and Republicans and alike, outraged,
outraged at the lack of transparency, the lack of answers.
She steps down the next day, But that doesn't solve
anything in terms of giving us answers as to what
(07:19):
happened and that it's going to be prevented from ever
happening again. You must be pleased to know that the
investigation is going to continue and the House plans to
move forward that because we still don't know. I mean,
we know we had a bad director, but we still
don't know why all that. I mean, what really happened
that day.
Speaker 7 (07:36):
Well we have to find out because there was a
terrible day July thirteenth. You know they talk about January
sixth was the greatest attack on our country. I think
July thirteenth was a bigger attack. Nobody should have to
worry about it. Nobody should have to worry about going
to a rally and having violence or anything. It doesn't
matter what party you're in. Nobody should have to worry
(07:57):
about it. And now people are worried about it, and
that's a shame. We need the truth, We need the answers,
and it shouldn't be very hard to get those answers,
but nobody wants to talk about it.
Speaker 6 (08:07):
You have the FBI, they're hiding things like crazy.
Speaker 7 (08:10):
You have the secret Service, and the director is out,
but now there's a new director and that person is
horrible too. I have to say that too.
Speaker 6 (08:17):
It's horrible.
Speaker 7 (08:18):
So we need the answers and we're looking to get
the answers, and hopefully the House GOP. They haven't done
a great job, but now they're doing a good job.
Hopefully they can get the answers because somebody was hurt,
somebody was killed, other people were hurt, and they.
Speaker 6 (08:34):
Deserve answers too.
Speaker 7 (08:35):
The country to what the hell happened on July thirteenth.
That never should have happened and it should never happen again.
Speaker 2 (08:41):
Believe, I never thought I would say these words, but
I had to AOC. There was a lot of great moments,
but AOC really had the most important moment, which was,
not only are your answers unacceptable? Waiting sixty days for
answers is unacceptable. And then she pointed to this, had
that shot taken you out, we would have had chaos,
(09:05):
potential unrest, maybe even civil war. And that still looms.
So we got to keep her candidate safe in the meantime.
You're going to keep things indoors, right, Well.
Speaker 7 (09:14):
We're looking at indoors, or we're looking at outdoors in
big beautiful places where you can't have a hiye ground.
Speaker 6 (09:20):
You know, you look at some of these beautiful stadiums.
Speaker 7 (09:23):
Maybe we'll do something like that, and AOC I'm surprised
she even said that AOC. Now here's the problem. If
she ever had that issue, it wouldn't be that much
of a close call, because you know, and we don't
want to make light of it. But I do want
to say if she did take a bullet to the head,
which we don't want, she doesn't have a brain in there.
She's a very low IQ, so she would have been
(09:44):
just fought.
Speaker 6 (09:45):
I'm only kidding. We don't want to talk about that.
We don't want to make a joke. We all know
it brings.
Speaker 2 (09:49):
It brings up where, it brings up where I wanted
to go, which is I think people got a glimpse
of what it would look like if we didn't have
a death in journalism or as you would call fake news.
Look how for two weeks they were doing their job
on the assassination attempt, and they were doing their job
(10:09):
on President Biden.
Speaker 1 (10:10):
Because they wanted to force him out.
Speaker 2 (10:12):
And now how quickly the same people that lied about
Biden's abilities cognitively then outed him. And now they're right
back to covering for Kamala Harris, whether it's the border
or whatever issue. But for a brief moment, a glimpse
of what it would be like if we had real journalism.
Speaker 6 (10:29):
The fake news has always been the fake news. They're
always going to be the fake news.
Speaker 7 (10:33):
So this is why we love you. We call you
pizza boy, but we love you.
Speaker 6 (10:36):
We love you a lot. I have to say that
God enough.
Speaker 1 (10:38):
To be vice president though.
Speaker 6 (10:40):
Well, because we have jd Vance.
Speaker 1 (10:43):
I know, but I watched the movie, mister President.
Speaker 2 (10:45):
I watched the movie, and let me tell you something,
my childhood was way more dysfunctional. I mean, I if
that's the reason the story of his life, I think
I competed pretty well.
Speaker 1 (10:56):
I mean, I'm not a senator. I'm not even a politician.
Speaker 6 (11:00):
Excuse me, Well, we have all of these beautiful things.
Speaker 7 (11:02):
Okay, he had a dysfunctional childhood, but he's no longer dysfunctional,
and you're still kind of dysfunctional. Okay, we love you,
just this's the way we love you. And we think
you're a tremendous person. I have to say that. And
you have your own you know, we need you to
fight the fake news like you're doing that, and you're
doing a tremendous job.
Speaker 6 (11:19):
The ratings are through the roof.
Speaker 7 (11:20):
You're in market after market your show is doing incredible,
and so everybody has their role in the administration, and
so you are going to do a tremendous job. Maybe
you could be press secretary who the hell knows? Maybe
they hell knows, Press secretary. Pizza boy, Okay, so you
can bring out at de joor No every single time
and eat it in front of these people, watch them
out to order.
Speaker 6 (11:41):
Chris Christy fuss into the press room like the kool
aid Man and steals it all from it. Yep, but
never know what's gould to happen. I tell you this,
I will tell you this.
Speaker 7 (11:50):
You're doing very well, and the fake news is not
doing very well. And these people are now asking whether
or not I got shot where they held of the
blood come from?
Speaker 6 (11:58):
You have Newsweek. These are fake we call fake newsweek.
These are terrible people, horrible fakers. I have to say.
Speaker 7 (12:04):
These are horrible, fake, sick people. And they are covering
for Kamala. You know they're covering for this person. I
called her the Hyena because she cackles like a hyena.
Speaker 6 (12:15):
She's awful.
Speaker 7 (12:16):
We can't have a hyena as president, and we're going
to make sure that she's not a president.
Speaker 1 (12:21):
Friday's forty five. Last question is what is on everybody's mind.
They're concerned. Now they're trying to make it look like
she's winning the polls. She's not.
Speaker 2 (12:29):
I've dissected the polls, but a lot of people are concerned.
Do they have a chance of winning with Kamala? Are
you concerned? How do you think the race is going
to go?
Speaker 6 (12:37):
Well, here's what happens.
Speaker 7 (12:38):
Okay, these are sick people, these are cheetahs, these are liars,
these are fraudsters, and I want to tell everybody they
always have a chance. They always have a chance. Never
take your foot off the guess.
Speaker 6 (12:49):
We have to continue to go, go, go like nobody's
ever gone before.
Speaker 7 (12:52):
Go worse than Crooked Joe at the Vatican.
Speaker 6 (12:54):
We keep coming back to that because he went. We
look at that he went, and you know what I'm
talking about it. We have to work. We have sleepy
Jose Kaka and Sa del Papa. Okay, that's what happened.
But we have this that made me work very hard.
Speaker 7 (13:11):
We have to work very hard, and they always have
a chance. We have to work very hard. We have
to be, as I call it, too big to rig,
Bigger than Rossio o' donald, Chris Christy and Stacy Abrams
put together.
Speaker 6 (13:23):
And you know, speaking of these people, I saw a.
Speaker 7 (13:25):
Video of a whale attacking a boat and I said,
I had no idea, I had no clue.
Speaker 6 (13:31):
Rossi o'donald was such a talented swimmer that much. I
can tell you, all.
Speaker 1 (13:35):
Right, you stiffed me, you sniff snoop.
Speaker 2 (13:37):
Although he will be carrying the fly or carrying one
of the one of the final torch carriers at the Olympics,
he did get that honor.
Speaker 4 (13:44):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (13:46):
What a big, big weekend news, mister president.
Speaker 2 (13:48):
Have a great weekend, enjoy the Olympics, and we'll talk
again next week.
Speaker 6 (13:52):
Thank you. We'll see you next week. God bless.
Speaker 1 (13:57):
This is your morning show with Michael del Trono.
Speaker 2 (14:01):
Welcome to your morning show. I'm Michael del Jorno and
here is your top story. Well, the Left got their
final piece of their narrative puzzle. The Obama's endorsed Mamala Kamala.
Speaker 8 (14:12):
I can't have this phone call without saying to my girl, Kamala,
I am proud of you. This is going to be historic.
Speaker 2 (14:21):
Obama can be heard in the background saying Michelle not
couldn't be prouder to endorse you and to do everything
we can to get.
Speaker 1 (14:28):
You to the election and into the OVID office.
Speaker 2 (14:29):
In a joint statement, we don't know when this was
actually filmed, it was released this morning, the Obama said
there is no doubt in our minds that Kamala Harris
says exactly what it takes to win this election and
deliver for the American people that final piece of their
narrative puzzle in place. The Obamas joined the Clintons and
the cabal behind Kamala Harris. Meanwhile, Kamala Harris says she's
(14:53):
ready to debate Donald Trump. Mark Mayfield has more.
Speaker 4 (14:56):
On Thursday, Harristol reporters she has agreed to debate Trump
at the pre scheduled presidential debate on September the tenth
with ABC. She said Trump had previously agreed to the
debate with Biden, but it's not backpedaling, and added that
voters deserve to see the split screen that exists in
this race on a debate stage. Since announcing her candidacy,
Trump has suggested he may not want to go through
(15:16):
with the debate if it's hosted by ABC and not
Fox News.
Speaker 1 (15:20):
I'm Mark neefield and let me guess she's going to
demand its ABC.
Speaker 2 (15:24):
The US House of Representatives says, okay, the Director's Secret Service.
Speaker 1 (15:27):
Is gone, but that doesn't give us any answers.
Speaker 2 (15:31):
They're setting up a bipartisan task force to investigate the
Trump assassination attempt.
Speaker 1 (15:35):
Michael Kastner reports.
Speaker 3 (15:36):
House Speaker Mike Johnson and Democratic Leader Hakim Jeffrey said
this week the task Course will be made up of
seven Republicans and six Democrats, and we'll have subpoena authority.
In a joint statement, Johnson and Jeffrey said the task
Force will move quickly to find the facts, insure accountability,
and make certain such failures never happen again. The resolution
(15:57):
to establish the task Course was approved unanimously Wednesday by
all House members. I'm Michael Kasner.
Speaker 2 (16:03):
Well, the year is a little over half over, but
it's been a bad year for Joe Biden and it's
been a bad year for Boweing. They're finalizing a plea
agreement with the Justice Department that involves pleading guilty to
conspiracy and paying nearly a quarter of a billion dollars
in penalties.
Speaker 1 (16:18):
Lisa Taylor has the details.
Speaker 9 (16:19):
This comes after the DOJ concluded a year's long investigation
into Boeing crashes in twenty eighteen and twenty nineteen. Federal
investigation said software errors cause the crashes that resulted in
close to three hundred and fifty deaths. Boeing was accused
of misleading the FAA about the safety of its software.
I'm Lisa Taylor.
Speaker 1 (16:37):
Marvel Studios.
Speaker 2 (16:38):
Deadpool and Wolverine is expected to break all the records
for best opening weekend by an R rated film. The
estimates are somewhere between one hundred and sixty seven million,
and that's what billions of us watching the Summer Olympic Games.
By the way, the opening ceremony will be about twelve
thirty Central one thirty Eastern, though most of us will
(16:59):
watch it tape delayed on NBC tonight, and Baseball raised
in Rangers one, Guardians Nats lost, and the Mariners, Dbacks
and Cards were off.
Speaker 1 (17:08):
Mick Jagger of.
Speaker 2 (17:08):
The Rolling Stones is eighty one years old today, looking
exactly like he did at fifty one. Honest, he do
it so now he's finally looking good for his age.
Actress Helen Marron always looks good for age seventy nine
years old. Today, Olympic gold medalist Dorothy hammil sixty eight
years old, and actress Sandra Bullock beats me to sixty
by a month. If it's your birthday, Happy birthday, We're
(17:30):
so glad you were born, and thanks for waking up
with your morning show.
Speaker 1 (17:33):
Hey, it's me and Michael.
Speaker 2 (17:34):
You can listen to your morning show live on the
air or streaming live on your iHeart app Monday through
Friday from three to six Pacific, five to eighth Central,
and six to nine Eastern on great radio stations like
Talk six fifty KSTE in Sacramento, one oh four nine,
The Patriot in Saint Louis had Impact Radio one oh
five nine and twelve fifty w HDZ in Tampa, Florida.
(17:55):
Sure hope you can join us live and make us
a part of your morning routine. In the meantime, enjoy
the pot cast the Olympic opening ceremonies coming up from Paris.
And we're joined now by John Decker, White House correspondent
and attorney. And John's been examining all the new polls
on how America feels about the Harris Trump matchup.
Speaker 1 (18:13):
I've been doing the same now.
Speaker 2 (18:15):
One of the things I like to do is look
at voting blocks, issues with the young voters, black voters,
Hispanic voters, mail voters. That's been an ongoing problem for
the left, and then the swing states and how they look.
I'm wondering how you look at these polls and what
you're looking at to get an initial glimpse of if
they're better off with.
Speaker 10 (18:35):
Kamala Well, you certainly would have to agree, even if
you are in the Trump campaign, meaning literally working for
Donald Trump, that the dynamic has changed dramatically in just
one week time.
Speaker 11 (18:48):
One week ago, I was leaving Milwaukee after the Republican
National Convention. Republicans were energized, buoyant, they were overconfident about
their chances in November, and one one week later, there's
a change at the top of the ticket. They may
still be confident, but they must acknowledge that the dynamic
has changed quite dramatically in just a few days time.
(19:10):
And so we have a New York Times poll showing
it's essentially a dead heat nationally forty eight percent Trump
forty seven percent Harris, within the poll's margin of era.
The battleground states, of course, will decide who wins the
White House. But that New York Times poll I think
is very instructive. In miss Vain Michael youth vote young voters,
(19:31):
Harris now has a twenty point lead over Donald Trump.
That's significantly better than where Joe Biden was versus Trump.
He just had a seven point lead. So that's a
big change, a big difference. And then also with Hispanic
voters as well, Hispanic voters view Kamala Harris more favorably
than they do Joe Biden. So we'll see if that
(19:53):
has an impact, especially in states that have large populations
with Hispanic voters. Hi.
Speaker 2 (19:59):
And then you have Rasmus who comes out with their
poll and it shows Trump fifty percent Harris forty three percent.
Some of these polls you gotta be careful if they're
not including third party candidates, especially with the overlay of
the swing states and the voting blocks. But in this
particular case, Trump's still up by seven over Kamala Harris.
(20:19):
And then there's another youth vote poll that I was
delving into this morning from Quinnipiac University. Now this is
a different glimpse it found and this poll was done
July nineteenth, and the twenty first among eighteen to thirty
four year olds, and you had Trump faring better against
Harris fifty eight percent of those surveys supporting the former
(20:41):
president thirty nine percent Harris. That's a nineteen point lead
for Donald Trump, and it was his seventeen points.
Speaker 11 (20:49):
That polls taken. Read when that poll's taken, Michael.
Speaker 1 (20:53):
Right before. I understand that, But so well, you.
Speaker 11 (20:56):
Can't go by that the world's course, I can.
Speaker 1 (20:58):
I'm to the point over the as an attorney. You
got to wait for me to finish my case.
Speaker 11 (21:02):
You've got a party coalescing around Kamala Harris. The world
has changed. You can't go by a poll that's so stale.
You have to go with a recent poll in order
to evaluate in a real way the dynamic.
Speaker 1 (21:14):
Of the r Let me do it this way.
Speaker 2 (21:15):
Polls are what the American people are feeling today, not
what they're going to be feeling on election day in November.
So it's a glimpse of today that if you don't
let me finish, that's a glimpse of how it was
coming out of the Republican Convention.
Speaker 1 (21:28):
The poll you just shared as a glimpse.
Speaker 2 (21:30):
Now riding high on the switch, now you've got to
maintain that for a month and then through the convention,
then through the debates, and through the general election. So
I think there's no question they're better off with Kamala
than Joe Biden. I mean, I think everybody with a
pulse can agree on that. Can it maintain and will
it maintain and will it come to a head in
(21:54):
unity and energy? Because the one number I saw that
troubled me the most for them, which is it's still
fifty to fifty fifty percent of their voters are supporting
Kamala Harris because they're against Donald Trump. Fifty percent of
supporting Kamala Harris because of Kamala Harris. They still have
about six weeks to bridge that gap and get people
really excited about their candidate, not a glimmer of hope
(22:15):
that they can win that they didn't have a week ago.
Speaker 1 (22:17):
That was gonna be my post.
Speaker 11 (22:18):
Okay, okay, Now let's look at what has actually happened
in terms of results, In terms of just not relying
us on a poll twenty twenty, you talked about fifty
percent of voters versus fifty percent of the voters. Let
me ask you this question, Michael, do you think that
Joe Biden won in twenty twenty because there was this
great outpouring of love, of affection, of energy for Joe Biden.
(22:41):
Where do you think it was more a negative vote
against Donald Trump?
Speaker 1 (22:45):
Absolutely a negative vote.
Speaker 11 (22:47):
Agree, it was a negative vote.
Speaker 2 (22:49):
And well in addition to in addition to weaponizing COVID,
in addition to changing election laws, in addition to winning
by a very narrow margin in swing states, and that
lead no longer exists in those swing states.
Speaker 1 (23:01):
So it is a little different.
Speaker 11 (23:03):
Well, energy is energy. It doesn't matter where that energy
is derived from. So if it's energy that's negative, you're
voting against somebody rather than voting for somebody. It's still energy,
and that energy is still ever present on the Democratic
side because as you know, if you speak to any
Democrat out there, they do not have a lot of
love for Donald Trump. But now there's new energy that's
(23:26):
been found on the Democratic side, and it's actually energy
for the person at the top of the ticket. And
that's what is given Democrats over the course of the
past few days so much confidence about their chances, not
that necessarily they're going to win, the confidence of the
possibility of making this surreal race against Donald Trump.
Speaker 1 (23:45):
How important is her selection for vice president.
Speaker 11 (23:50):
It's so important, it really is. I think that it
will give us the first glimpse into what type of
person she is, how she would like to govern. Will
she choose someone that would be a a real boon
to progressives in the Democratic Party, or someone who has
broad appeal as someone like mar Kelly, who's won statewide
(24:14):
in Arizona twice, with a diverse population. It comes from
a border state, by the way, I think that that
would be a good choice for her. Another option for
her as Roy Cooper, but he's up there in age.
And if you're thinking about okay, if I'm fortunate enough
to be elected in November and then re elected, Roy
Cooper in eight years is seventy five years old, So
(24:36):
you really do have to think about the future when
you make one of these choices.
Speaker 1 (24:40):
Shapiro out.
Speaker 11 (24:42):
Shapiro I think is in the mix. But keep in mind,
I think we're going to see a lot of division
at the DNC on the issue of Israel, and Shapiro,
like Fetterman, has been ardently pro Israel, and that's going
to be problematic with progressives. Those are the far left
of the party. That's why it's unfortunate for him. I
(25:03):
think he's a great candidate, but timing's everything in politics,
and I don't think the timing is good for him
right now.
Speaker 2 (25:08):
If we agree that most of the unity in the
party is against Donald Trump more than for Kamala Harris,
and this is a map play right primarily.
Speaker 11 (25:19):
Well, that's right, you know, And that's why it's going
to be important, Michael, not to pay as much attention
to the national polls, which would tell us something but
not everything that pay more attention to those battle ground
state poles. And in those battle ground and state poles
that have come out in the last few days, Donald
Trump still has an edge. He still has an edge
(25:40):
over Kamala Harris in Pennsylvania by two points, within the
pole margin of era, but still by two points. In
Arizona it's five points. You know, this is where elections
are won. It's in the swing states. It's not nationally.
We know that you can win nationally like Hillary Clinton did.
You could win, you know, and she never became president.
(26:01):
You can win nationally like Al Gordon, and you don't
become president. You have to win the electoral college, and
that is done by winning individual states.
Speaker 2 (26:08):
All right, So if we prioritize them, we would say
Pennsylvania number one, Michigan number two. Michigan was pretty key
to Donald Trump's coast in twenty sixteen.
Speaker 1 (26:19):
Pennsylvania.
Speaker 2 (26:20):
There's really hard to find a path forward for Kamala
Harris and the Democrats without Pennsylvania and Michigan. The problem
is the governor in Michigan's also a woman. You go
to with two women. The problem is the governor of
Pennsylvania is Jewish. You can't do that with the divide
and your party. I mean, it leaves only if you're
doing a map play Kelly. Of course, the negative that
is you open up a Senate seat, and that's a
(26:40):
whole other piece of this puzzle. All right, final thing
I want to say to you, and we get the
final piece of the Kumba Yah puzzle with the Obamas today.
Speaker 11 (26:49):
I know you were waiting for not a surprise. You know.
First of all, I got that news last night at
nine pm. That was a bargain until five am this morning,
not a surprise. And it's the Obama plural. So it's
President Obama and the former first Lady both coming together,
coalescing around Kamala Harris. Remember, he put together an incredible,
(27:12):
diverse a coalition in terms of winning the White House
in both two thousand and eight and two thousand and twelve.
And the idea here is to try to put that
coalition once again together for twenty twenty four.
Speaker 2 (27:23):
All Right, I promised ten seconds the delay. What's our
explanation for. Could they have negotiated potentially who this vice
presidential pairing is?
Speaker 11 (27:33):
You mean, could they have come out with it already?
Speaker 1 (27:35):
No?
Speaker 2 (27:35):
I mean, was the final thing that made the Obamas
come on board now with something they might have negotiated
like who the other half of the ticket is?
Speaker 11 (27:44):
Oh no, no, no, no. I think they just wanted
to date it themselves. I mean that's you know, look
what happened on Sunday. The former President Bill Clinton, the
former First Lady Hillary Clinton, the former Democratic nominee John Kerry,
all in this same day endorsing Kamala Harris. And I think,
you know, look, Barack Obama, he likes the spotlight, and
(28:07):
he's getting the spotlight today. I think that's one of
the reasons why they waited so long in terms of
ultimately rallying around Kamala Harris. As the Democratic presidential nominee.
Speaker 2 (28:18):
Had a fun time, John, you have a great weekend.
We'll talk again next week. John Decker, Whitehouse Correspondent. Always
a pleasure, all right, if you're just waking up. That's
the biggest story of the day. The Obamas have come forward.
NBC leaked to kind of yesterday late, and then of
course the video was available five am this morning, so
it was embargo till six am Eastern. But the Obama's
(28:39):
they're out and they're on board with Kamala Harris. Here's
how it sounded about saying.
Speaker 8 (28:45):
To my girl, Kamala, I am proud of you. This
is going to be.
Speaker 2 (28:51):
Historic you, hear Barack in the background. Later chime in Michelle,
and I couldn't be prouder to endorse you and to
do everything we can to get you through this election
and into the Oval office. They also released a joint
statement there is no doubt in our minds that Kamala
Harris has exactly what it takes to win this election
and deliver for the American people. So the Obamas, for
(29:12):
whatever reason, they were delayed. If you're John Decker, you're
thinking they wanted the data themselves. They wanted to create
the anticipation, get everybody to take the bait and say
there's division in the party, and then silence it.
Speaker 1 (29:25):
That's possible.
Speaker 2 (29:27):
It could be that they were negotiating. Don't forget there
was a negotiation that got Ya Kamala Harris when Biden
won the election. To appease the Clinton crowd, they gave Harris,
the Clinton candidate, to the ticket. There might have been
some negotiating that was taking place. We'll see wh Kamala
makes her choice. Meanwhile, the House is approving a resolution
condemning the Vice President Kamala Harris for what Republican lawmakers
(29:49):
say is her mishandling of the southern border.
Speaker 1 (29:51):
Mark Mayfield has more.
Speaker 4 (29:53):
The resolution condemning Herris as the Biden administration's borders are
passed with support from six Democrats. Iden in twenty twenty
one selected Harris to lead the administration's efforts to address
the root causes of migration. The focus on the Vice
president's handling of the situation comes as she appears to
be the likely Democratic nominee for president after President Biden
(30:13):
dropped out of the election.
Speaker 2 (30:15):
I'm Mark Meefield and then the media turned into a
big debate over whether or not she was a for
the czar. Of course, then the clips started airing of
Joe Biden handing her the border Axios who says she
was never the czar. Then everybody shows the Axios headline
from twenty twenty.
Speaker 1 (30:30):
One, Zaga she was the czar. Oh, the narrative games
that are played.
Speaker 2 (30:34):
Meanwhile, the House of Representatives is setting up a bipartisan
task force to investigate the Trump assassination. Sure, an incompetent
director is gone, but we still don't have answers. And
if you thought you had a bad day yesterday, how
would you like to be Elon Musk? He just lost
sixteen billion dollars in a single day. Mike Kastner has
the details.
Speaker 3 (30:53):
Shares in Tesla collapsed on Wednesday, causing the CEO's net
worth to plummet from two hundred and forty nine billion
dollars to two hundred and thirty two million dollars. According
to Forbes, stock in the electric car company dropped over
eleven percent after Tesla's second quarter earnings fell short of expectations.
Musk is still the world's richest person and is worth
(31:13):
about thirty billion dollars.
Speaker 1 (31:15):
More than the.
Speaker 3 (31:15):
Second richest person, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos.
Speaker 1 (31:19):
I'm Michael cass.
Speaker 2 (31:20):
Now, well, they say it's one of the toughest things
to quit smoking, but you got to do it or
you'll die, right, So then you do only to die
because of your yard work. Pesticides could post a cancer
risk on bar was smoking. Lisa Taylor has that story.
Speaker 9 (31:35):
That's according to a new study published in Frontiers and
Cancer Control in Society. In major corn producing states in
the Midwest, the widespread use of pesticides could lead to
hundreds of thousands of more cancer cases. In February, scientists
also raised concerns that there was no safe exposure level
to many common pesticides, which have been linked to lung, pancreatic,
and colon cancers in children and adults, as well as leukemia.
(31:58):
I'mly citailor Oh.
Speaker 2 (32:00):
Look now, the Olympics are here opening ceremonies about twelve
thirty Central one thirty Eastern. Though most of us will
watch this beautiful boat down the Sene River entrance of
the athletes tonight in primetime on NBC.
Speaker 4 (32:16):
I'm Jim Silt in Tampa and my Morning show is
your morning show.
Speaker 2 (32:20):
We always give the final story to Rory, because he's
a big deal. He's Rory O'Neil Rory. Let's start with
an update on the Olympics and the attack on the
infrastructure there, and did we get any more details on
that real quick?
Speaker 12 (32:34):
We still don't have a group claiming responsibility. Again, they
think this may be some sort of extremist group, but
incendiary devices we're found at three separate locations on high speed.
Speaker 1 (32:45):
Rail lines throughout France.
Speaker 12 (32:48):
It looks like most of the train service from England
to France will be able to run. It'll be a
bit delayed, but they should be able to get all
the trains back and forth today, so that's encouraging. And
again the Harris Metro seems to be functioning, justifying this
is the high speed long distance trains that have been
mostly affected. Here Again, we don't know who's responsible for
(33:09):
this sabotage. They're not calling it terrorism instead calling it sabotage.
Speaker 1 (33:14):
Everybody's a little on edge, you know.
Speaker 2 (33:15):
Obviously security has been a great focus, a great investment
by the Paris Olympic Committee and this is a little
bit of a concern at the start. This could affect
some people's ability to get there for the opening ceremonies,
which will happen America time about twelve thirty Central, though
most of us won't see it till tonight, and they're
dodging rain drops potentially as well. And then we get
onto the Olympic Games, which I think is a welcome distraction.
(33:38):
Quite frankly, the President. I thought it was in two
things that are interesting from the left's perspective. I believe
they have an eye problem Israel within the Democrat Party,
and Biden and Kamala decided to address that separately separate meetings.
Your thoughts on that, and then give us an update
on the meeting with Trump at Marlago, Right.
Speaker 12 (34:00):
So the meeting at mar A Laco is happening today.
Yesterday there was that separate meeting, as you said in
the Oval with Joe Biden in the earlier part of
the afternoon, late afternoon with Kamala Harris. She had been
in Texas for the first part of the day, so
she couldn't get back to DC until about the time
of this meeting. So I think that's why it was
(34:21):
two separate meetings. But her tone was quite different from
what we heard from Joe Biden. I think the message
has been the same of let's get to a ceasefire,
let's get the hostages turned over, let's get the relief
flowing into Gaza. But her tone just seemed a bit
more equilateral than we hear from Joe Biden, essentially saying
(34:43):
that Gaza is about as important as Israeliness.
Speaker 1 (34:46):
Two things.
Speaker 2 (34:48):
Oh, I don't want to take the last twenty seconds,
but you got Michigan and Minnesota with high Islamic population
that can be trouble if they go too far. They
also have other issues in terms of potential convention in Chicago,
and you don't want to fan the flames of protest.
This is a very difficult issue for That's why I
say it's an eye problem. It's not a talking point
(35:08):
or a cheap shot. It's very difficult. There'll be no
problems at mar Lago between BB and Donald Trump. It'll
be very interesting to cover how that meeting went on Monday. Rory,
appreciate your reporting all week long.
Speaker 1 (35:19):
We're all in this together. This is your Morning Show
with Michael Ndheld, Joiner
