Speaker 1 (00:00):
Previously on your morning show with Michael Del Choono.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
And it is cold throughout central and eastern United States,
and especially in our nation's capital for the inauguration day.
Twenty four degrees feels like fourteen. That's where we find
Simon Conway, who is morning host of Good Morning Orlando
as well as afternoon host Don Who in Des Moines.
Where are you now, Simon on your journey to be

(00:25):
in place for the inauguration.

Speaker 3 (00:28):
I am in a hotel in Arlington and Virginia, and
I'll be headed out to a watch party very very shortly.
I think it's interesting that Trump has still not left
Blair House. He is now at least fifteen minutes late
in doing that. And we can speculate because that's fun, Michael,

(00:48):
isn't it.

Speaker 4 (00:49):
Maybe he's after the partons.

Speaker 3 (00:51):
He's like, I'm not having tea with Biden.

Speaker 4 (00:53):
Maybe that's what the delay is.

Speaker 2 (00:55):
Well, that would be shocking if they change up much.
It's only about a four minute journey to the church,
but the church service should be starting even as we speak.
I can't they have completely tarped off the Blairhouse. Is
that for the cold? By the way, there are some
people getting in the Secret Service vehicle, so maybe he
is making his way. Is it security, is it cold?

(01:18):
We just don't know, but you and I are a
little suspicious that it's more security. The more we watch this.

Speaker 4 (01:23):
Patty, we are definitely suspicious of that.

Speaker 3 (01:25):
Also, they are already making their way in to the
Capital arena. The line is going on literally for blocks plural.

Speaker 4 (01:36):
It only takes twenty thousand.

Speaker 3 (01:39):
There's a quarter of a million people in DC that
are not normally in d C. So it's going to
be an interesting day, to say the very Let me
ask you this hes very late, Yeah, he is very late.

Speaker 2 (01:50):
Simon Conway joining us. He's in d C. So normally
it's done on the steps of the Capitol. You could
have a sea of people all the way down the mall.
Now it's moved inside. You broke down the numbers for us.
If every member of Congress, we know there are a
handful that are boycotting, but if every member of Congress
were to attend the oath of office, that's five hundred

(02:11):
plus of one thousand that are being allowed in. So
where are all these Americans that traveled for the inauguration
going to be watching this?

Speaker 4 (02:19):
Well, that's the issue because they've taken away the.

Speaker 3 (02:22):
Ability to watch from the mall. They're not putting up
any video screens.

Speaker 4 (02:26):
They're not going to let you do it.

Speaker 3 (02:28):
So you either have to find a watch party, which
is where I'm going put on by a congress woman,
or you're going to end up in a bar with
TV screens. Frankly, if you can't get the Capitol Arena,
that's it.

Speaker 4 (02:42):
That's it.

Speaker 3 (02:43):
There's no nothing else going on.

Speaker 4 (02:47):
But it's sad. You know, even if I hated the incoming.

Speaker 3 (02:51):
President, this is such an historic moment.

Speaker 4 (02:55):
You've got only the second time in our.

Speaker 3 (02:57):
History we've got a president who is being inaugurated.

Speaker 4 (03:03):
It's to non consecutive terms, only the second time that's.

Speaker 3 (03:06):
Ever happened, and we haven't done the inside thing in
forty years.

Speaker 2 (03:11):
The last one was raised Reagan.

Speaker 4 (03:13):
I don't know that.

Speaker 2 (03:13):
I would boy call this.

Speaker 4 (03:15):
I think I would be there.

Speaker 2 (03:16):
And if I hated him, well yeah, I mean it's
being sold as a two edged sword, so cold. The
worried about people that would be going to the hospital
with exposure. That wouldn't explain tarping the Blairhouse so that
you could not see the president go from the porch
to the curb. I mean that's a very short walk.

(03:36):
It's only twenty four I mean, I say it's only
twenty four, but twenty four degrees. Come on, he could
have made that short walk. It's starting to feel a
lot more like security. You brought up great historic moments
I always love, and it's when you have a new
president and they're greeted by the current president at the
front door of the White House. That's a great moment.
This one's more like, honey, I'm home again, So it'll
have a little bit of a different feel. What are

(03:59):
your favorite moments on a day like today, and how
will that be affected, especially the parade, Like what does
all this weather do for the parade?

Speaker 1 (04:06):
Right?

Speaker 3 (04:07):
The parade we're being told is going to be at
the arena, and I'm trying to figure out how that
even works. Five vehicles was the last time I heard.
I'm hoping one of them is the garbage truck, but
it will be by vehicles, right, But we're down to
five vehicles in this parade. Everything is much much tied out.

(04:28):
A lot of people are going to stay in their
hotels and watch it from the lobbies. The TVs they've
got in the bars. I mean, it's definitely not what
people have planned, Michael, that is for sure, and it's
a shame, but it is what it is. And you
are correct in saying that Secret Service are getting these
vehicles ready. There's no doubt about that.

Speaker 4 (04:47):
Yeah, he's definitely.

Speaker 2 (04:50):
Yeah, he's still running ten minutes late, no matter how
you cut it. All right, Well, Simon is not going
to be the inauguration day that you were expecting and
the proximity you were expecting or outside as you were expecting.
But it did bring us to meet and I'm very
grateful for that. And thanks for sharing your listeners with
us this morning. Go make a memory and go enjoy history,
and we'll talk again soon. And don't forget you got

(05:11):
sauce in Nashville next time you visit.

Speaker 4 (05:14):
Absolutely we will forward a sauce in that field.

Speaker 3 (05:17):
I can't wait to see him, britt eat a little uh.

Speaker 4 (05:22):
You know balls they see, Michael, I can't let you
get away with that.

Speaker 3 (05:27):
An American time.

Speaker 4 (05:29):
I went on a seven and a half year journey
to become American, and.

Speaker 3 (05:32):
I am not a hyphenidd American either. I'm American.

Speaker 2 (05:36):
Oh then You're gonna love being Italian for the day.
Hey go have the time of your life. Simon, we'll
talk against soon. God, bless you, my friend. It was
great meeting up.

Speaker 3 (05:43):
Bless you too.

Speaker 1 (05:43):
Miss a little, miss a lot, miss a lot, and
we'll miss you. It's your morning show with Michael del
