Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hi, I'm Michael.
Speaker 2 (00:00):
We'd love to have you listen every weekday morning to
your morning show live, even take us along with you
on the drive to work. We can be heard on
great radio stations like one oh four nine The Patriot
in Saint Louis, Our Talk Radio ninety eight point three
and fifteen ten WLAC and Nashville, and News Talk five
fifty k FYI in Phoenix, Arizona. Love to be a
part of your morning routine. But we're always grateful you're
(00:21):
here now, enjoyed the podcast.
Speaker 1 (00:23):
Just wouldn't say that, I'm so sorry?
Speaker 3 (00:25):
Well two three starting your morning off right, A new
way of talk, a new way of understanding.
Speaker 1 (00:34):
Because we're in this together. This is your Morning Show
with Michael O'Dell charm.
Speaker 2 (00:42):
Seven minutes after the hour, and good morning and welcome
to Wednesday, January twenty ninth, twenty twenty five. Do you
know I noticed yesterday I sten said twenty twenty four
A couple of times.
Speaker 1 (00:52):
No way, I did. Remember the old days. You do
that with a check? Yeah, yeah, what's a check? How
I do it with a time check? Well?
Speaker 2 (01:03):
I remember the days where the woman in front of
you was writing a check for a dollar sixty seven
and you had to wait. Those were the days. Good morning,
What do you want me to put it in a memo?
Today is all about sweet Caroline Good. Well, here's how
(01:25):
if you did a quick comparison, because I had this thought.
First of all, Caroline Levitt is twenty seven years old, yes,
the thirty sixth White House Press secretary. And I've seen
a lot of them on their very first day, nervous,
(01:48):
Some perform you know, adequate, and get better and better
and better. And Jean Crumpierre, you know, also got better.
She it was a tough sell, but I mean she
did get better at being comfortable in front of the camera.
So as I was watching Caroline yesterday, I was struck by, Okay,
(02:12):
if this is the starting point, how good is she
going to get? You're not opening up a folder, although
you could see her look down every now and then
in reference a note. But so I was impressed at
you know, this is the beginning, how good is she
going to get? And then I came across this clip
which actually had Joan Crimpierre's first day and first comments,
(02:34):
and I thought, what a contrast.
Speaker 4 (02:36):
Listen, I am obviously acutely aware that my presence at
this podium represents a few First, I am a black,
gay immigrant woman, the first of all three of those
two hold this position.
Speaker 2 (02:51):
Okay, that was a time in America. This is actually
a much different time in America.
Speaker 5 (02:57):
Listen, thirty five hundred arrests ICE has made so far
since President.
Speaker 2 (03:01):
Trump came back into office.
Speaker 5 (03:02):
Can you just tell us the numbers how many have
a criminal record versus those who are just in the
country illegally, all of them because they illegally broke our
nation's laws and therefore they are criminals as far as
this administration goes. I know the last administration didn't see
it that way.
Speaker 1 (03:15):
So it's a big culture shift.
Speaker 5 (03:16):
In our nation to use someone who breaks our immigration
laws as a criminal. But that's exactly what they are.
Speaker 2 (03:21):
Here, Caroline bag We'll have more obviously in our in
our sounds of the day, but yeah, you know, this
whole there's a new sheriff in town kind of feeling
is definitely real. Speaking of Carolines, today's day, RFK Junior
(03:42):
faces confirmation hearings and his cousin, Caroline Kennedy, decided to
speak out. I play this also to bookend the two
Caroline concept. This is the kind of hard work we
put in too, not just preparing a show for you,
but frame the show as we execute the show. We
(04:03):
combine two carolines, one who is extraordinarily different like her
president is extraordinarily different from her predecessor, and then now
we follow that up with another Caroline, different spelling. By
the way, I like to just go on record as
saying that different outcomes. We did the research. No, you
know what this one screams to me, and it's a
(04:24):
lost virtue.
Speaker 1 (04:26):
I think.
Speaker 2 (04:28):
Everything negative in life doesn't have to be said. Let
that sink in for a second. You walk by somebody overweight,
it's not necessary to tap them on the shoulder and
tell them they're fat. You walk by somebody dressed particularly poorly,
(04:54):
or using the wrong verb or ad.
Speaker 1 (04:56):
Verb, it's not necessary to correct.
Speaker 2 (05:00):
Everything in life doesn't require your opinion. What am I
talking about? The very simple concept of I don't even
know if this is taught anymore by parents. I don't
know if this is taught anymore by teachers. But the
concept of if you have nothing good to say, just
(05:21):
remain silent. Saying it isn't going to change it anyway.
I don't know what you think you're accomplishing. So I
have always lived by that. It always felt right to me.
It tends to build over a lifetime as you perfect it,
(05:41):
and people will notice your silence, and you know what,
that's all that really needs to be said. Listen, if
I am not talking about you, if I am not
thinking about you, that's if I'm your subject. That's the
worst position.
Speaker 1 (05:58):
To be in.
Speaker 2 (06:01):
But I'm kind of that way. When I'm quiet. I
don't think much of you. If I'm joking, if I'm
poking fun, I really like you, and I really think
you're significant. So I was just you know, and looking
at this clip first and foremost, I'm thinking, if you
(06:21):
had nothing nice to say, why would you come right
out and say? Why would you hold a news conference
to say it. It's even worse when it comes to
Caroline Kennedy. It seems like the only time we ever
hear her is when she's being a political pawn, and
it's usually directed against her family, who didn't change with
the party, a party that I would remind her is
(06:43):
unrecognizable from her father.
Speaker 6 (06:46):
I know.
Speaker 2 (06:47):
I've made a study of both one in history and
one in reality. Then there's the second part of it,
which is you're talking about it your first cousin. You're
talking about your father's brother's son. I guess I would
throw out tertiarily both killed, and we might be about
(07:11):
to find out by their government, by their confident government. Wait,
how many things are going to go through your head
while you're staring at this. I like to think of
these things, like when I see a really bad idea
(07:31):
with a company and I'm like, you know, this all
started in a conference room. Somebody probably raised their hand
and came up with this dumb idea, and in a
room full of people, nobody recognized it was dumb. And
then it began to take shape, and then it went
into planning, and then it went into execution. You're like,
(07:51):
what kind of morons in that vein? Hey, Caroline, your
first cousin is about to go up for nomination. Now
there are senators that will ask him all the tough questions.
Speaker 1 (08:07):
Let me interrupt myself.
Speaker 2 (08:09):
There are senators who will attack him on everything you're
about to say. It really doesn't need to have a
first blood cousin betray him in an unasked for news
conference with a written statement.
Speaker 1 (08:24):
Read with your reading glasses verbatim.
Speaker 2 (08:32):
The first one, sweet Caroline, this one, thank.
Speaker 1 (08:38):
You, this one.
Speaker 2 (08:43):
This would be cheap shot, Caroline, Caroline Levitt, Winner of
the day, Caroline Kennedy.
Speaker 1 (08:57):
I'll let you be the judge.
Speaker 7 (09:00):
Bobby has been nominated by President Trump to be Secretary
of Health and Human Services, a position that would put
him in charge of the health of the American people.
I feel an obligation to speak out.
Speaker 2 (09:13):
You feel an obligation to speak out. What are the
credentials of Caroline Kennedy on anything pertaining to health in
human services? What has been the body of her life
(09:33):
work that keep in mind as she reels all this up,
This is nothing that isn't going to come up and
attack in a Senate hearing. So it's really again, you
got nothing nice to say? Why won't you say anything
at all? Why now? Why against your first cousin? Why
(09:53):
did it defend a party in big government that may
be responsible for your own fauthers to I mean all
that's going through my head. The contrasting carolines well, having
nothing good to say, but being totally partisan over blood,
she continues, overseeing.
Speaker 7 (10:12):
The FDA, the NIH, the CDC, and centers for Medicare
and Medicaid services agencies that are charged with protecting the
most vulnerable among us. Is an enormous responsibility, and one
that Bobby is unqualified to fill. He lacks any relevant government,
financial management or medical experience. His views on vaccines are
(10:36):
dangerous and willfully misinformed. These facts alone should be disqualifying,
But he has personal qualities related to this.
Speaker 2 (10:47):
So never mind his qualifications, never mind his differing views
from her. Oh no, let's get really filthy and personal.
I don't know if in the courtroom of public opinion
I made a great case against her so far, But
who would defend this?
Speaker 7 (11:06):
Listen job, which for me pose even greater concern. I've
known Bobby my whole life. We grew up together. It's
no surprise that he keeps birds of prey as pets,
because Bobby himself is a predator.
Speaker 2 (11:24):
Contrasting carolines, one couldn't have impressed me more, the other
couldn't have impressed me less.
Speaker 1 (11:36):
What a way to start the day, Right, it's your
morning show with Michael del Jorno if you're just waking up.
Speaker 2 (11:43):
Homeland Security Secretary Christy Nomes says dangerous people are off
the streets after targeted raids against the legal immigrants.
Speaker 1 (11:50):
Mark Mayfield has his story.
Speaker 6 (11:51):
Appearing on Fox News Tuesday night. Nome claimed the ringleader
of a violent Venezuelan gang was among those picked up
during a reign in New York City.
Speaker 8 (11:59):
We did counter and incarcerate a trendy AGRAS member, the
one of the ring leaders.
Speaker 9 (12:04):
He had warrants out for his arrest in Colorado.
Speaker 6 (12:06):
The former South Dakota governor was embedded with ICE agents
during Tuesday's raid. Noma said, raids my ICE and other
law enforcement agencies are picking up the worst of the
worst in this country. She added that she appreciates President
Trump following through on promises that he'd make America safe.
Speaker 1 (12:21):
I'm Mark Mayfield.
Speaker 2 (12:22):
The Trump administration is planning to offer buyouts to federal
workers who don't want to return to the office.
Speaker 3 (12:27):
This deferred resignation would include a severance package of roughly
eight months pay and benefits. The administration says it expects
five to ten percent of the federal workforce to quit.
A senior administration official says that could lead to roughly
one billion dollars in savings. The buyout offer is set
to go out through a new system that allows officials
(12:48):
the ability to email all federal employees at once. The
resignation period opened Tuesday and runs through February sixth. I'm
Brian Shook.
Speaker 2 (12:58):
The White House is putting a spotlight on action taken
by President Trump in his first week of office. Tammy
Trehilo has that story.
Speaker 9 (13:04):
Press Secretary Caroline Lovett highlighted the executive actions taken by
Trump in his first week back in office during the
first White House Press briefing of his second term on Tuesday.
Speaker 5 (13:14):
Since taking the oath of office, President Trump has taken
more than three hundred executive actions, secured nearly one trillion
dollars in US investments, deported illegal alien rapists, gang members,
and suspected terrorists from our homeland.
Speaker 9 (13:30):
To write a list of some of the illegal immigrants
who have been detained during raids this week, Immigration and
Customs Enforcement has said the Trump administration's cracked down on
illegal immigrants has resulted in over thirty five hundred arrests.
I'm Tammy TRUHIEA.
Speaker 2 (13:42):
Not on that list is some moas coming to the
table for a ceasefire and a release of hostages. Just
goink at inkily as he's getting ready to take the
oath of office. Speaking of that, here's another chance for
Donald Trump to be a hero. He has asked Elon Musk,
CEO of SpaceX, to go and get the two assstronauts
who are trapped in space. You remember Butch and Sonny.
(14:06):
This is the Gilligan's Island of our space program. They
were just going for a three hour tour, ended up
being three years in syndication. Sunny and Butch were a
part of Boeing's mission to the space station back in June.
Were supposed to last around eight to ten days, and
they're still in space. Issues with their spacecraft have left
(14:30):
them up there for months longer than planned, with a
return mission now delayed until March. And I don't think
anybody's holding out hope March is going to happen. Donald Trump,
posting on truth Social blamed the Biden administration for leaving
astronauts in space and said Elon will soon be on
his way. What a brilliant move that would be. Speaking
(14:51):
of travel, I don't know. I'm never that much in
a hurry to get somewhere. A new prototype passenger jet
Boom Supersonic XB one it broke the sound barrier during
a supersonic test flight. I don't know that i'd want
to be a passenger on a plane that breaks the
(15:12):
sound barrier?
Speaker 1 (15:13):
Would you?
Speaker 2 (15:14):
Absolutely? Do you get to wear the funny suit? People
are jumping over a little turbulence. Can you imagine a
sonic boom?
Speaker 1 (15:20):
That'd be awesome?
Speaker 2 (15:21):
Today is a very special day for the lovable grump
in your life. Pree Tennis says details a National Curmudgeon Day.
Speaker 8 (15:31):
To the grumpy, sourpuss, nitpicker, overbearing and the downright cranky.
Today is all about you. Although most curmudgeons are portrayed
as negative, we know under that krusty exterior is an
old softie and a man. Female curmudgeons are called Tremaggin's
and you're in good company. Rgi Bunker, Sophia Petrillo, Oscar
(15:51):
the Grouch. Even comedian George Carlin was a curmudgeon. And
today we celebrate your inner know and ask for a
little more. Yes, I'm bree Tennis.
Speaker 1 (15:59):
I love Breton Tennis far and away my favorite. I'm
the hardwood. Last night, give me some sneakers.
Speaker 2 (16:04):
Lakers lost one eighteen one oh four to the seventy
six ers in Philadelphia, Trailblazers beat the Bucks one twenty five,
one twelve. Warriors won one fourteen one oh three over
the Jazz on the ice lightning loss of the Blackhawks.
Speaker 1 (16:15):
That's not easy.
Speaker 2 (16:16):
Caps three went over the Flames and the Ducks outscored
the crack in six to four.
Speaker 1 (16:23):
Good morning, guys.
Speaker 5 (16:24):
This is Jeff and pleasant Few, Tennessee, and my morning
show is your Morning Show with Michael Dale.
Speaker 4 (16:29):
JOHNO.
Speaker 1 (16:35):
Hi, it's me Michael.
Speaker 2 (16:36):
Your morning show can be heard on great stations across
the country like Talk Radio eleven ninety in Dallas, Sport Worth,
Freedom one oh four point seven in Washington, d C.
And five point fifty k FYI and Phoenix, Arizona. We'd
love to be a part of your morning routine or
take us along on the drive to work, but as
we always say, better.
Speaker 1 (16:53):
Late than never.
Speaker 2 (16:54):
Enjoy the podcast. Can't have your morning show without your voice,
which is why we talk to you about the iHeartRadio app.
If you're listening on your iHeartRadio, you see a little
microphone press it. It's a talkback button. This is the
time where you don't have to rot on hold anymore.
You just ask your question, make your comment you're a
part of the show like that using the talkback button,
or you can email me at Michael di at iHeartMedia
(17:15):
dot com. We had a couple, one on Caroline. Of
course I'm singing sweet Caroline because of the reference of
Neil Diamond, and yes, she was the inspiration for the
name anyway used in the song. I don't think the
song is necessarily about her, but which one of our
listeners was hip too, I don't remember where this.
Speaker 10 (17:36):
Is Jeff at KF YI, do you realize that Neil
Diamond when he was writing that song needed a person
to rhyme to, and Caroline Kennedy was on the TV
and he said, that's it.
Speaker 1 (17:49):
This song is about Caroline Kennedy.
Speaker 10 (17:52):
You've got a great duality there, Yeah.
Speaker 1 (17:55):
Carol Lyne.
Speaker 2 (17:59):
I mean it would more if it was anything else
sweet Susanie, but good thing Caroline Kennedy was on television.
And the other one the bookie, John the booky.
Speaker 1 (18:13):
So he hit the betting line on Robert F. Kennedy.
Speaker 11 (18:18):
Yes, minus one thirty no plus one seventy mm m
bookie ookay.
Speaker 2 (18:27):
Uh so that's leaning pretty heavily towards him. Getting confirmation
by odds, and the odds have bared out again. I
didn't see anybody on this cabinet that wasn't going to
get approved, and I still don't. I don't think Caroline
Kennedy attacking her cousin is going to have that much
of an effect.
Speaker 1 (18:45):
We had one other John kb.
Speaker 11 (18:48):
In, Michael Caroline Levitt. Her first day on the job
was a lot like hitting a home run in your
first at bat in the major leagues. And Jean Pierre,
I don't even so irrelevant whatever her name was, she
was like swing. She swung at like three pitches in
the dirt and just walk back to the dugout Carolinas side.
Speaker 1 (19:15):
He you know, because I'm a d D I can't help.
Speaker 2 (19:17):
But it was kring Jean Pierre, by the way, and yes,
I'm really anxious to forget her. I went through the
list of I mean, think about a major league baseball player.
You got to be the best of the best in
the league. To start in high school, you gotta be
the best and best in high school to play at
(19:37):
college or to go through the minor league system. Only
the best of the best of the best of the
best of the best get to the major League and
you're first at bat, you hit a home run.
Speaker 1 (19:44):
Wouldn't that be extraordinary? Be awesome?
Speaker 2 (19:46):
Or you could There is a rather lengthy list of
people who have done it. You will be shocked to
know none of the biggest names are on that list.
So the greatest baseball players who ever lived do not
get home runs of their.
Speaker 1 (19:59):
First batt although that's got to be a great feeling.
Of names.
Speaker 2 (20:03):
You might remember Gary GAYETI did it, Hall of Famer
and pitcher Wait Wilhelm did it. And Adam Waynwright for
those listening to on A four nine, and the Patriot
in Saint Louis, the Cardinal Adam Wainwright is one of
nineteen pitchers to hit a home run in their first
(20:24):
major League get bat. And it just led me to think,
you know, as extraordinaries it would be to get a
first at bat in the major leagues ahead a home run.
How about a pitcher in their first bat getting a
home run? It doesn't have it very well, And I
don't have to tell people in Saint Louis and Adam
Wayne Wright could pitch to boot well, so good, Wait Willhelm?
All right, so always use that talkback button. We'd love
(20:46):
to get here. We did a by the way, if
you missed it, I'll do a shameless plug for the podcast.
We just compared the two Carolines. One was Caroline Levitt,
who is the twenty seven year old White House Press
secretary who tore it up yesterday. The other was Caroline Kennedy,
who tore up her cousin just being used by a pawn,
by a party that's abandoned her father's policies. And yes,
(21:10):
when I was singing Sweet Caroline, I know everything there
is to know about John F. Kennedy and Neil Diamond,
So why not combine them? All Right, this would fall
under the rooster, but it's too early to rooster chrome. Yeah, cox, crow,
(21:34):
be careful and crows. I forgot what crows do. Anyway,
we used to do the I don't remember what it was,
so do three cocka doodle doos. White House says it's
opening the briefing room to podcasters, social media influencers, and
(21:58):
content creators. We were in the midst of It was
just an extraordinary year, wasn't it. I mean, I know
it just happened, and we should give it some time
to really appreciate it. But I mean, we watched Donald
Trump just get attacked from every angle and every source.
(22:19):
We saw lawfair lock him up in court with a
gag order, and he's still on the primary, never appeared
at a single primary debate, and still on the primary,
and with the gag order and everybody having to do
the talking for him, kind of united the party long
before the convention. Before the convention, he exposed Joe Biden
(22:42):
for what he was cognitively impaired, and they start going
to the bullpen to Kamala Harris and then he defeats her.
An extraordinary alliance kind of formed. This has got to
be very troubling to the Democrat Party. Two of their
former presidential candidate are now facing confirmation in this Republican administration.
(23:08):
So they once owned Elon Musk with the ZVS, Now
Trump does. They once owned RFK, They once owned Tulca Gambett,
Now Trump does. When push came to shove and it
was still closed and everybody was living on a Kamala
(23:28):
sugar high. You know, the creation and narrative of Kamala,
not the reality reality would set in that visit with
Joe Rogan, you know, Kamala said well, he can always
fly him. We'll build his scant and it looked just like,
(23:50):
I'm there, but he'll have to come to me. Donald
trumpet to Joe Rogan? What did that end up being
sixty million viewers? Something insane? Wasn't it read?
Speaker 1 (24:05):
Over? Sixty million people? Watch that?
Speaker 2 (24:07):
Then jd Vance did the same thing, and then like
in real time, I was like, they don't get it,
do they? Legacy media is dead, ABC, NBCCBS, Msnbccnnfox, nobody cares,
nobody's watching, nobody's listening. Where are the millions? Joe Rogan, Megan, Kelly, Tucker,
(24:32):
Carlson and Trump mastered that, And so in real time
we said that wouldn't it be neat if he wins
the election and he opens up? And he should because
that's the reality for America, right. That's why we have
a White House press room, not because we still press newspapers.
(25:00):
We're a government of the people, and the media's job
is to hold them accountable for us. I know that's
not what they became, but it's returning to that and
where are the people now? They're now with these digital mediums,
there were these influencers, there were these podcasters, so Why
(25:20):
aren't they in the room. Why don't they have access
to the president. Why would you continue to sit down
with sixty minutes or an ABC News anchor and do
an interview doing with Joe Rogan after your president if
he'll let you. Caution to Joe Rogan, don't get sucked
into being political. You'll lose your twenty million. But it
(25:45):
was just an obvious nobody's claiming brilliance here. If these
are the people you went and talked to that reached
the masses, that's who needs to be in the room
for the weekly news conference. Well, our favorite story of
the day, more Trump brilliance. Hello to the new media,
(26:07):
Goodbye to the bias legacy mainstream media. After all, it
was the new media that Trump embraced that gave him
the unthinkable victory. Big changes are coming to the Brady
Press Room in the West wing of the White House.
Press Secretary Caroline Levitt, making her debut behind the podium Tuesday,
(26:28):
announced that the Trump White House would open up the
briefing room to independent journalists, podcasters, social media influencers, and
content creators, potentially even not us. Wouldn't it be funny
if I showed up in the press room with a
third row position and Decker's four rows behind me, and
(26:54):
I text him a picture of me in the third row.
This is brilliantly with in the screen. You know, I
don't even know. I'm not even gonna call this brilliant.
This is obvious, this is reality, This is necessary, This
is where we are. To Not do this would be
an injustice. They're even going to create a dedicated seat
(27:17):
in the first row for new media. I don't even
know where to begin in thinking, should Joe Rogan go?
I don't know, but Megan Kelly should, Tucker Carlson should?
I can think of a lot of people that should
(27:38):
and will. And keeping with his revolutionary media approach, Levin
announced the White House will speak to all media outlets
and personalities and not just the legacy media. This is
really one of those from a media standpoint, one of
those now used can't leave moments. Donald Trump one point
(28:02):
oh fake news, fake news? Donald Trump two point oh
news is dad? Now, You're not even anything I have
to deal with. As for the legacy media and the
(28:26):
cable news media, they're all trying to reinvent themselves and
into what they're in the same position as the Democrat party,
they were carrying the water for Now, what's your move?
Because your only move is to stop being what you are?
And we know they're not capable of that. I mean,
favorite story of the day. Trump is following through and
(28:51):
you might start seeing Joe Rogan. You might start saying,
you know, the people were really watching and listening to
said these people on TV that nobody watches anymore. We
all act like they're a big shot. Put them in
the seventh row. Get get Joe down here in the
front row, Megan.
Speaker 1 (29:11):
Wow, what a sign of the times. Favorite story of
the day, hands down, This is your Morning show with
Michael del Choono.
Speaker 9 (29:20):
That was the sickest rooster I have ever heard.
Speaker 1 (29:25):
Well, I don't.
Speaker 2 (29:28):
Who wants to wake up to? That was the wake
up done that. I kind of like the imagine if
you had a really sensitive, considerate rooster just came to
the window, just.
Speaker 1 (29:47):
See your face. You just stop it.
Speaker 2 (29:53):
We said throughout the campaign the Democrats have an eye problem,
an Israel problem, and it certainly split their party. Donald
Trump does not have an eye problem. In fact, Phoebe's
going to meet President Trump next week.
Speaker 6 (30:04):
Netanyahu will travel to the White House next Tuesday, where
he'll become the first foreign leader to meet with Trump
during his second term. Trump wrote a letter to netyaw
Who's saying he looks forward to discussing how they can
bring peace to Israel and efforts to counter our shared adversaries.
Speaker 1 (30:19):
I'm Mark Mayfield.
Speaker 2 (30:20):
White House says President Trump is sending a loud and
clear message on immigration.
Speaker 1 (30:24):
Brian Shook reports.
