Speaker 1 (00:00):
Previously on your Morning show with Michael dil Choono.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Roory O'Neil, who I couldn't help over here talking friendly
with Jeffrey. His tone will chain quickly now that he's
with me. He's covering our story. So the President did
promise to secure the border. I think he could bow
and claim a mission accomplished. As far as lowering the
costs in America, it's far too early to judge him,

(00:26):
but tariffs would seemingly, and even he admits, create a
little bump in the road and maybe actually cause costs
to increase temporarily before stabilizing. Tackling the high cost and
the necessities of living from housing and food. One thing
the President's going to do is now have an affordability

(00:47):
So hour tell us how that'll work.

Speaker 3 (00:49):
Well, right, this is probably going to come under the
Treasury Department, as we heard from the Secretary saying they'll
have a panel to essentially look at the issues you
just listed there. But we also heard from the President that,
you know, there may be these tariffs that have an
inflationary effect. But at the same time, his policy of drill,
baby drill, you know, he's convinced that lowering energy costs

(01:10):
across the board will help bring down all pricing, so
perhaps we can balance one with the others so that
the tariff impact won't be maybe offset or better by
having a more aggressive energy policy. So I think that's
his goal.

Speaker 2 (01:26):
Isn't it interesting we never go ahead and get like
a number to gauge that. I mean, when you think
about it, everything we order that comes to our front
door arise by vehicle. Everything that is virtually everything that's
arriving in our stores is by ship and then vehicle.
I mean, what percentage is rail and train will train? Yeah,
but I mean what percentage of costs it would go

(01:49):
down if fuel costs go down?

Speaker 3 (01:52):
Well, And that's because and that's where it gets so
tricky to find, right, because is it the cost of
the fuel for the tractor on the farm. Is it
the cost of the firm, which is usually petroleum based,
So you know at what level? And also to the
president's thought process being it's at every level, and it
is it throws in a couple of pennies here there

(02:12):
on top of things. And that's why he thinks if
he can bring down those overall energy costs, you can
find more success in lowering costs overall.

Speaker 2 (02:20):
Yeah, at least when you're pumping gas. You know, it
would be nice if you knew of that three dollars
and six cents a gallon. This is a boutique blend
in post fee. This is a state tax, a municipal tax.
And you know, if people saw all that, because you
know we've.

Speaker 3 (02:38):
Often heard especially especially buy an electric car, well then
maybe they should do that.

Speaker 2 (02:45):
I can't pull the trigger and do that, but yeah,
I wish we could see that, you know, like on
our on our packet of oreos, which I haven't stopped
thinking about since pre Tennis, is report on OREO day.
All right, So this affordabilities aari. He will probably be
in the Treasury Department and work directly with the President,
and his mission.

Speaker 3 (03:00):
Is to try to focus on you put this, find
the legislation or create the legislative priorities that need to
be implemented, to try to bring down prices overall, and
find any other faster mechanism that could help in that process.

Speaker 2 (03:15):
Roy O'Neil, I know you happen to be off tomorrow.
Enjoy yourself. And I once served as subpoena. I used
to deliver subpoenas coming out of high school for my
coach for a law firm that my coach had a
contract with. And I went to the NASA site in Mississippi,
and I remember I.

Speaker 3 (03:32):
Had to find this guy.

Speaker 2 (03:32):
I had to find this guy to serve a subpoena.
But I went ahead and took the tour.

Speaker 3 (03:35):
While I was said, it's fascinating. You're going to visit
a rock and I can't wait to hear about.

Speaker 2 (03:40):
That when you get back. Roory O'Neil, have a great
day off and a great weekend.

Speaker 3 (03:44):
We'll talk to you Monday.

Speaker 1 (03:45):
Miss a little, miss a lot, miss a lot, and
we'll miss you. It's your morning show with Michael del Churno.
