Speaker 1 (00:00):
Previously on Your Morning show with Michael Dilchuno.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Our national correspondent Roy O'Neil always gets the final story.

Speaker 3 (00:07):
Good morning, Rory. Hey there, my good morning. All right.
So we kind of did this in the Platinum.

Speaker 2 (00:12):
Hour, but for those that aren't up that early, I'm
not even sure we were up that early. But odds
of going the launch being a goat today and what
did we solve on the.

Speaker 3 (00:21):
Ground with hydraulics. Yeah, good weather.

Speaker 4 (00:23):
Now in the forecast for tonight, the hydraulics issue should
have been resolved. We haven't gotten an official update yet.
They're targeting launch at seven to three pm Eastern time.
That would set up docking at the space station for Saturday.

Speaker 3 (00:38):
They're doing a two plus two.

Speaker 4 (00:39):
Schedule, so maybe they can splash down and return to
Earth with Butch and sunny Tuesday or Wednesday of next week.
That's going to depend on the weather because they need
some column seas for that capsule to splash down in
either the Gulf of America or in the Atlantic off
the coast of Jacksonville.

Speaker 2 (00:57):
You know, I was never one to worry about looking ignorant.
I did not realize we splashed down anymore.

Speaker 3 (01:03):
I want to watch that. I used to love the splashdowns.

Speaker 2 (01:06):
In fact, my dad and I when we did a
talk show together broadcast from the Ewajima, which was the
one that went and got Apollo thirteen out.

Speaker 4 (01:13):
Of the un So the issue they have with not
announcing the times in advance is because knuckleheads take their
boats out there to watch.

Speaker 2 (01:25):
Is that really a problem yep. So I've decided that
because I'm a space officionado eurospace expert, we both love space.
So the room goes black and white whenever we talk
about it. But I do want to come watch a launch,
and I've decided I'm going to stay with you.

Speaker 3 (01:41):
Well, all right, I'll move right.

Speaker 2 (01:45):
You can sleep on the long sofa, asleep on the
love seat, all right. So today's two way talk was
going to be about the possibility of a government shut
down today and the efforts to avoid it.

Speaker 3 (01:56):
I think they've been avoided, right, it looks like it.

Speaker 4 (01:58):
Senator Schumer last night saying that he's going to hold
his nose and vote for this thing, this continuing resolution
that will fund the government through the end of September. Essentially,
they don't want the political stink of a shutdown in
on the Democrats here, because they would look like obstructionists
trying to get this thing stop. So just a tactical

(02:20):
move as the Democrats also struggle with trying to put
together a message and someone to deliver it.

Speaker 3 (02:25):
To the American people.

Speaker 2 (02:26):
It would have also sent more federal employees home than
Doge has sent home, and then, of course, if that
is the president's intent, you could make it harder for
them to get back to work even after the shutdown
is over. So they were kind of in a check made.
I don't know where they were going with this, but
the fun part to watch now is how angry some
of the Democrats are at him for this.

Speaker 4 (02:49):
Right, but again, there's not much they can do about
it at this point. It seems it just shows the
powerless or the lack of any influence that this party
currently has right now in Washington. Even the one thing
that they could do be this barrier and allow a
filibuster to continue, they're not even choosing to exercise that.

Speaker 2 (03:09):
All right, So your take on Vladimir Putin, Look it,
I'm rooting for peace. I'm certainly rooting against any escalation
towards a world war. I mean, that's just natural Vlatier.
Putin's not a good guy, not a trustworthy guy. This
is a tough negotiation. Had a really rough time at
the Oval Office with the Ukrainian president. But that's been resolved.

(03:29):
They're at the table. Somewhere along the line. They're getting
the reassurances that there's a plan to not just create peace,
but lasting peace, so we don't live this again. And
now at first sign from Putin that he's at least
in principle.

Speaker 3 (03:40):
Now we don't know. There's a lot of principles in
there that have to be worked out. But are we
wrong to assume this is a good first start.

Speaker 4 (03:47):
Anyway, It's not bad, right, you know, you've got the Republic,
the Ukrainians at the table ready to talk. The Russians, though.
The trouble is that they used wort of want to
do this all at once. They want to wrap up
the whole deal, whereas we're just saying, let's.

Speaker 3 (04:02):
Just get through thirty days. Can we just pause for thirty.

Speaker 4 (04:05):
Days, whereas the Russians are looking at this more of
you know, let's let's solve this once and for all,
and doing that is going to take time.

Speaker 2 (04:12):
Well, the real heavy lifting is ahead, but at least
we got a shot at getting it done.

Speaker 3 (04:16):
You have a great weekend. Don't miss the Weekend Show.
Why do I alay forget the name the Weekend?

Speaker 2 (04:22):
Die the Weekend Dive with Ory O'Neal on iHeart Stations
and we'll see you all Monday.

Speaker 1 (04:27):
Miss a little, miss a lot, miss a lot, and
we'll miss you. It's your Morning Show with Michael del Churno.
