Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hi, It's Michael. Your morning show can be heard live
weekday mornings five to eight am, six to nine am
Eastern and great cities like Tampa, Florida, Youngstown, Ohio, and
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. We'd love to join you on the
drive to work live, but we're glad you're here now.

Speaker 2 (00:14):
Enjoyed the podcast, Good Morning American, Y's Ride two three.

Speaker 3 (00:21):
Starting your morning off right, A new way of talking,
a new way of understanding because we're in this together.
This is your Morning Show with Michael O'Dell.

Speaker 4 (00:34):
Charm said, there special morning. See right now upstairs still
the seat like a buck under a blanket is Mike McCann.
He's sleeping upstairs, as whisper. He's in the house. Yeah,
it took him to dinner last night. I heard a
bunch of stories and then I put them to bed.

(00:55):
Drug But he's up there right now, probably whispering.

Speaker 5 (00:58):
Here. Take this vin adrip. How can you interrupt Paul
Harvey with that scream? The legendary Paul Greatest speech. It
was a benefitor. I never know what's going to fire.
I don't know, well I know, but I mean it's
he gave. It was for the salvation. Army to benefit
the Salvation Army and tells Oklahoma, and he came in
deliberatey speech. And I've heard some great speeches. Olliver North

(01:19):
gives a great speech. There's a lot of people give
great speeches, but I never like this Glenn Beck. Can
I give a shout out to my friend Glenn Beck.
Glenn Beck will do a speech. You'll be cracking up,
then you'll be crying, and you'll leave with a you know,
you depart with an impart always. But oh nothing like

(01:42):
Paul Harvey speech. Blew me away, and you know what
the topic was, the rest Tomorrow is always better than today,
which sitting there, I was thinking, No, it isn't.

Speaker 2 (01:54):
Who wouldn't go back to nineteen fifty six? Right when
he left the podium, did he say?

Speaker 5 (01:59):
Good day? Hey, what a Present's all right? You can't
hand you can't control the rotations. I can't control if
you hear Mike McCann snoring upstairs. But welcome to Friday August,
the twenty second year of our Lord twenty twenty five.
Trump administration can move forward with pulling hundreds of millions
of dollars from the National Institutes of Health grants any

(02:20):
that are linked to diversity initiatives. After the Supreme Court
ruling yesterday, I'm trying to think red he got that
ruling then Trisha's Tis James's five hundred million dollars civil
fraud case, another Democrat lawfare bites the dust that got

(02:43):
thrown out. Now they were going to appeal the actual
decision itself, and if you've now officially appealed the amount,
the whole thing's probably blown up. Yeah, it'll be interesting
to see, like with The Atlantic or Axios or the
New York Times does with this. Well, he's still guilty. Uh,
that looks pretty fragile right now, but not looking good

(03:06):
for the Democrat. Have they had a single lawfair victory.
I mean he's sitting at well. Actually he almost did
a ride along with the DC police last night, so
I you know, I still love the felonies, which that
will likely be Yeah, so some you know, we could cueue.

(03:27):
I don't want to insult people on a Friday, although
I love that song, but we're kind of with Donald Trump.
We're burning out. I'm winning by Santana Cracker Barrel. Wow,
just wow, you remember well? My hat? The senior marketing
director Audio where she was talking about intention out of

(03:47):
a and you know, customer experience and all the things
that you know, I'm out of college, I'm gonna kind
of cracker bear, I'm gonna bust the place up a
little bit. That'll be you know, it'll be next we're
gonna get rid of the gift shop. Well they did
from the logo, right, doesn't they please do every time
you walk in, I like shopping there? Why is it gosh?

Speaker 2 (04:06):
Because they're always like, would you like would you like
a Yankee candle?

Speaker 5 (04:09):
Can we introduce you? You did realize that the guy on
the uh next to the barrel was Uncle Herschel. That's
Uncle Hershel. Yes, Uncle Herschel. Well yeah, but he said
it was a cracker with leaning up against the barrel.
That's where the name came from. And then that set
my yard boy off. Next thing, you know, I'm in
you know, the CEO's office answered for you guys, But no,

(04:30):
they changed the logo and it was just so bad.
I mean, it looks like I would think any ten
year old. It was just the simplest, blandest you know
what's wrong with what was I mean, if you want
to change some of the knickknacks to freshen the place up.
I don't know, wait, why is it? You know, it's

(04:52):
kind of like I used to do this when I
thank god my daughter doesn't take after me. My daughter's
an exceptional artist. There was a story I was and
basically you e or think about you know, you ever
look get in the mirror and you go, oh, do
people see me? This ugly? Am I? This fat? You know?

(05:12):
All of that? Well, that's your mind. Your brain is
nothing but a computer. If you ask it a question,
it's going to give you an answer, and it's going
to give an answer based on your biases. It's not
a fact check. You can you can get up every
morning and see yourself the way God sees you. Or
you can get up every morning and see yourself the
way you see you. And when we look in the mirror,

(05:35):
we see our flaws. When we interact with people every day,
we look better to them than we look to ourselves
because they're not staring at our flaws unless it's a
more more, more laughing or how about liar liar when
he can't lie? That's it, you know, fat saddle bag.

(05:59):
But it's kind of fascinating how you know, well, we
we look and we see our faults. I don't know.
I was talking about my daughter being a great artist,
you know, I don't know how she does it start
to finish and it's finished at the perfect moment. Whenever
I would do something, whether it was an elaborate doodle

(06:19):
or art, I wouldn't stop messing with it till I
ruined it. You know what that temptation. I can't draw
stick people so well more as we used to. See
how many program directors did you work for? They come
into town and here's a radio station that they're taking
over that is eighty percent perfect, but they want to

(06:41):
make a one mark on it. I want to put
my thumbrint on it. Yeah, so what do they do?
They come and they jack around and break stuff and
then never get around and making it twenty percent better.
Copy U ut me copy copy that. See Trump's down
on the ground in DC with the National Guard, and
all of a sudden, you're talking milit copy roger that over,

(07:01):
okay to sixty seven. I'm ready for pushback. So I
don't know what they did. You know, the name of
the store is Cracker Barrel. It's themed a country store.
I'm with Mary. Do we have Mary's call from yesterday?
See if you could find it. I mean, I don't
want to use the word soulmate because I have one

(07:21):
in my wife. But what I mean is Mary my
If Red's my long lost brother that I don't know about,
is Mary my sister I don't know about? We think
so much like Yes, I'm a fan of waffle House too.
I prefer waffle House. And let me tell you something.
And I'd like to say this on behalf of Mary
before she even says it. The filthier the waffle house,
the better. But here's Mary, good morning. This is Mary

(07:43):
and Idaho.

Speaker 6 (07:44):
I think there's cracker barrel people, but I think there's
waffle House people, and I am totally team waffle House.

Speaker 5 (07:50):
They're not going to forget your toast.

Speaker 6 (07:52):
Nope, They're going to be open up until an hour
before a hurricane hits.

Speaker 5 (07:56):
And they're not going to tell you something that you're
putting out at a garage sale night years. Thank you.

Speaker 6 (08:00):
That's just me at the nearest the nearest one to
me is about six hundred miles away, so I think it's.

Speaker 5 (08:04):
Time for a road trip. You know you were Thank you, Mary,
you were talking about we need some merch for the show,
and we do. Yeah, you know, we're a little man
on the totable. We're a humble little operation around on.
We got second Billy, our boss, Julie tal but she
hates when I do this. I hope she's not up
to this s earily. But she's getting another big she's

(08:24):
going into the Radio Hall of Fame. But now she's
getting another big mover and Shaker award, and in it
they listed us second. We got second building, no kidding. Yeah,
they were talking about the success of Clay and Buck
six hundred stations. You know, what we're doing is a
little different in morning Dry that's a tougher clearer. Yeah,

(08:45):
people got to give up the morning show. So but
we were second billing, we were before, back before Hannity.

Speaker 2 (08:51):
Hey, you know, but we're a humble little operation. I
wonder who made that list? What do you mean, well,
I mean to put us in second, Well, we're quite
the success story. What are you looking at the mirror
seeing our floors? Well, yeah, but I don't really look
at that stuff. I don't talk about us because you know,
I don't like to boast. I know it's all about
the listeners. They have made this a great success story.

Speaker 5 (09:11):
But anyway, make a long story short, we're very humble, uh,
and we're kind of a waffle house family, you know
what I mean, a waffle house. They they don't mess
with that. They don't even clean. You're the short ordered cook.
So I've met the waffle house during COVID, right, and
you know you sit right behind the cook. I'm very

(09:31):
impressed how they do it. Waitresses are just screaming out tags, mother, mother,
and this guy's hearing all these things, and they and
the plates come out and they start. They have some
kind of system. I can't I can't figure it out.
But I'm watching this rather heavy set cook with his
mask on, with his gloves on, his pants are like

(09:53):
a plumber. I don't think I have to describe it
any worse than that. No, this is true. This is
the one time my son's face got his eyes got
as big as his nose and he went, uh dad,
And I saw it all right. Now, First of all,
we as customers, we have the plexiglass between each booth
because you know, COVID can't get through plexi glass. It

(10:15):
would never go around the plex The plexiglass where I
sat to get to me, So we got all these
precautions going on. This guy's got his gloves on, he's
got his mask on, he's perspiring a little bit. He's
a short order cook over a hot grill. His pants
are like plumber style. I watched him take his left

(10:37):
hand and pull the mask forward, take his right hand
and from the top of his forehead under his chin,
wipe the sweat off his face. He's standing over a
hot grill, lowered his masks. Nothing bad, hygie about this.
On his way down towards the toast, he gives a
little scratch along the top of the plumber line and

(11:01):
then he pats the toast smothered. And I can't say
what Nick really said. Nick has colorful language. I don't know.
I tried to raise him right, Uh what the and
I just said? And I didn't miss I did. I'm
telling Mary will Love. I hope Mary's up right now. Gosh,

(11:21):
what is it in Boise right now? Three o'clock in
the morning. I guess I don't hope she's up. I
hope she hears this later on the podcast. But I,
without missing a beat, stoneface, I just look at nick
and I go, and I love it. I I went
to one waffle house and I walked in and it
was clean. I was like, I want to eat it.

(11:41):
I don't want to eat the clean waffle house. Yeah,
and you know what you'll find too at the waffle
house where you eat is filthy.

Speaker 2 (11:47):
But then you go to the bathroom, it's clean. See
that's the mark of a good restaurant. If the bathroom
is clean, I can trust everything else. Well, yeah, but
a waffle I'll never forget. I had one time I
had to do something. So I ordered coffee, and the
coffee arrives and at a glance, I can see stuff
floating in the coffee. Why are we giving a cracker

(12:07):
barrel of free pass? They're the numbskulls today that lost
one hundred million dollars of value over changing a logo
that wasn't broke.

Speaker 5 (12:15):
But I gotta tell the swaffle all story. So at
a glance, I can see debris floating in my coffee.
And I grabbed the spoon and it's all dried egg
and cheese on the spoon. And so I called the
waitress over and I go. I think I'm an Indian
New coupaca. Oh, that's our stir spoon. So you're thinking

(12:37):
to yourself, well, you know what, I don't want that
stern what you're cooking either, but ended up in my coffee. Oh, Mary,
you don't know how much we love you. You're just
like us. Brian just called. You want to hear what
he's said. Brian in uh oh, Claire, Yeah, Oh, it's

(12:57):
gonna be stop wining pizza ball. No, no, not at all.
Who gets some merch and believe me, I'll be one
of your first customers. I'm gonna you know what I'm
gonna do. I'm going to schedule a merch conference call
this week. We've got a meeting on Tuesday. We can
bring it up. Oh we do. Yeah, Oh, I'll bring

(13:18):
it up to you. Did I mention? John Fogert He
was on the show this week. At eighty years old,
he finally got the rights to his music back. He
took good care of himself and his voice, and at
eighty years old, he's out with a new album called Legacy,
and he's got a fall tour. Oh I hope it
comes anywhere near Nashville. I will fly to go see that.
And it really has become a lifelong fight and now

(13:43):
a family celebration. Will tell you how. In our Spotlight
interview next half hour, Roy Neil has the latest on
the President. He did not do the what do they
call that when you, you know, go out on patrol.

Speaker 2 (13:54):
He didn't do a patrol Vetus patrol.

Speaker 5 (13:58):
He didn't do quotus patrol. But he did give them
a lot and all eyes around Jackson Hole. Kevin Sirelli,
our futurist, is going to be joining us from Jackson Hole.
Will we get finally an interest rate cut? And is
it many think it's coming in September? Will it be
big enough? My gosh. We got to talk about Russian peace.
We got to talk about fighting crime in the cities.
We got to talk about Trump arrangement now becoming Democrat demise.

(14:20):
It's Friday with forty seven. In the third hour, and
somewhere online we'll get to your top five stories and
sounds the day.

Speaker 3 (14:27):
This is your morning show with Michael del Trono.

Speaker 7 (14:31):
Hey, Michael, this is Vince Giordano on the Treasure Coast
in Florida.

Speaker 5 (14:35):
Just wanted to tell you trucker hats and hoodies are
the hot March items. See maybe coffee mugs as well,
but definitely trucker hats and hoodies. You put those out,
everyone will buy them. Have a birthday trucker hats. And
by the way, was Vincent's birthday yesterday? Oh? Was it really?
And I so glad you were born. Can't say my
favorite jor Dano, but my favorite Jordano. You my brother.

(15:00):
All right, we'll work on trucker heads. I'm sitting here,
you know. I did a little assignment while we were
on break, and I just put my ear up to
the bedroom door. It's closed where Mike mccannon is sleeping,
and I could hear your mooting show, your mooting show.
He must practice it. How come he's not. He normally

(15:21):
is up with us as soon as the show starts.
And I can't stop seeing my son's face at that
waffle what I had one listener text or email, He's like,
what did he say? What do you think he said?
What the uh? I did? Find? The story is Cracker
Barrel is making a lot of changes, and and so

(15:43):
are people. Just their new logo led to a plunge
in their stock. The company value plunged one hundred million
dollars just on the logo, but you know the transparancy, uh,
the intentionality of the corporate speak. Here's how this I'll
be again. You wonder what else.

Speaker 8 (16:02):
Over the past year, we have been very transparent about
our transformation platform, and one of our strategies is judged
on that physical guest experience, the guest experience the last
year testing and concepting various levels of remodels.

Speaker 5 (16:19):
Well, we just did a test of yesterday and you
should go back to college and they fired leave hershell alone. Heck,
you might have been better off switching to the name
the Cory my yardboard game and I can't even repeat it. Hey,
I'm Mike Aragon in San Luel, Arizona and my morning
shows your Morning Show with Michael dejo Ho. Hey, it's

(16:45):
me Michael.

Speaker 1 (16:46):
Your morning show can be heard live five to eight
am Central, six to nine Eastern and great cities like Jackson, Mississippi, Akron, Ohio,
or Columbus, Georgia. We'd love to be a part of
your morning routine and we're grateful you're here.

Speaker 5 (16:58):
Now. Enjoy the podcast. Why the President on the Streets
with law enforcement in DC, cleaning things up, making it safe,
allowing people to go out and eat again we catch
up with him. It's Friday, with forty seven. In the
third hour, all eyes are on Jackson Hole, Wyoming, where
the Jackson Hole Economic Symposium is going on. It could

(17:20):
be the last time we hear from the fed chair.
Our very own futurist, Kevin Surrilli is in Jackson Hole.
He'll join us next half hour and time for our
spotlight Interview of the week. Hands down was an easy choice.
At eighty years old, rock icon John Fogerty has the
rights to his music back, and I love what he

(17:42):
plans to do with it. Day with Me Fantasy, John Poverty,

(18:08):
What an honor. Thanks for being with us. Great to
be here now. I'm a huge fan. Obviously I can't
take Infield without the song center Field like everybody else. Well,
you wrote that song. Did you have any idea would
be in between every ending of minor league major league baseball?
You know, I just hoped.

Speaker 9 (18:27):
At the time, I think I knew I was kind
of swimming upstream without a paddle or something because I
wanted to make a rock and roll record, but talk
about baseball, and that just had never really been done
before the two things didn't seem to go together, and
I've been just so happily blessed with the way center

(18:49):
Field was received and adopted, especially by baseball and especially
by Little League. You know, kids, even my own kids
playing the league got to hear center Fece in between innings.

Speaker 5 (19:02):
Year every year I do a State of the Baseball address.
It goes back to when I met my wife and
she couldn't understand why I love baseball so much, And
it goes through everything, and it always ends with that
song and who's starting in center field that night? My
son wanted me to ask you when you wrote that,
were you the center fielder or is it just kind
of in general your love for baseball coming out in

(19:25):
the song.

Speaker 9 (19:26):
Well, it was a time at which I was sort
of making a comeback with my career. The album center
Field came out right well in nineteen eighty five. I've
been away since about nineteen eighty two, and this was
certainly a statement. And center field to me was a

(19:50):
mythical place in sports lore and to me was kind
of the center of the universe the team. I was
probably thinking about what centerfield at Yankee Stadium because my
dad had told me about Babe Ruth When I was,
you know, three, four years old, and that's you know,
these were days of yore to.

Speaker 5 (20:12):
A little kid. Oh babe, Ruth.

Speaker 9 (20:14):
I mean as I grew older, I realized he was
telling me about a man that had passed away long ago,
when at the time when I was three, I thought
he was still running around playing baseball, right, So that
was that was the mindset. I wanted to rejoin that place.

(20:34):
I wanted my music to be back in that center
of the universe, like what center field is. So it
seemed to be a I guess they call it a metaphor,
and you know I was symbolically trying to get myself
back in the limelights.

Speaker 5 (20:51):
So glad you did. John Forgerty is joining us, speaking
of my son, You and CCR they translate to one
year olds today. Still some of his favorite music, The Library,
Proud Mary, Bad Mood Rising. Yeah, I could go through
all of them, Green River, around the Bend, We'll Stop
the Rain, all these great songs. You finally have the

(21:13):
ability to sing these songs that you made magic in
our life, and now you get to do it with
your kids. Tell them about it. The new album and
the new tour.

Speaker 9 (21:24):
Well, yes, my sons, Shane and Tyler are in my band.
They've been in my band for some time now, I
mean officially, even when they were youngsters, teenagers, you know,
they would come and play a couple of songs with me,
that sort of thing. But they have become really great musicians,

(21:44):
and so it's always fun to have them playing, you know,
side by side. Really, you know, it's just a wonderful feeling.
And the whole show really that we do live it
just has a sense of joy and family and love
and togetherness, you.

Speaker 5 (22:02):
Know, all the right things in the world.

Speaker 9 (22:04):
I know that that's in some ways kind of corny
and maybe not rock and roll in some quarter, some quarters,
I guess, But for I don't care anymore.

Speaker 5 (22:17):
I gotta ask you, what is this secret? I mean,
you're eighty years old. You don't look it, you don't
feel it, you don't sing that way. It's like you're
trapped in time and we got all older. But I
am so looking forward to the album that is now out.
Tell me about the songs that are on it, because
this is kind of like you now with your kids,

(22:39):
singing all these great songs we've cherished for a lifetime.

Speaker 9 (22:43):
Well, it was and I think what the identity of
this record is is it's kind of a statement of
me reclaiming my complete in emotional investment.

Speaker 5 (23:00):
In these songs.

Speaker 9 (23:01):
You know, I wrote these songs a long time ago,
when I was in my early twenties, and then a
whole lot of book has happened in the time since.
Pretty confusing, let's say, to the average fan. And now,
you know, because of the process I think going through
this with my two sons. Of course, my wife kind

(23:23):
of overseeing as moms do the whole thing, and the
rest of my family kind of watching day to day
as this thing unfolded, the process of recording and figuring
out how to do things and make them sound right,
make them sound great, right, you know, lifting yourself up

(23:44):
to get to that level to where you're performing again
at that level that was on the original tracks. That
was a whole thing that we did together as love.
I mean, it's hard to describe, but it's a way
of doing it when you both look at each other,

(24:05):
you're not judging each other, you're helping each other, and
that's just a process that's we all need that, I
guess going through that together like we did, and then
having the result be this album that's so full of joy.
Has been a wonderful experience for me and my family,

(24:29):
and I believe that I think the fans now or
the world really will see this as Wow, John's got
it together. He's singing songs in a way that he's
sang of them all those years ago. And I think
more important, the feel of it is like it was
all those years ago.

Speaker 5 (24:49):
Well, you know, you at eighties one thing, and then
you and your twenties were one thing. I mean, these
songs are timeless, they're still relevant, they're still great. John
Fogerty is joining us. Will this come with a tour
as well? And know you're gonna do the iHeart Music Festival,
but will there be any kind of I'd love to
come see you.

Speaker 9 (25:07):
Well, yes, I'm looking forward to the iHeart Festival and
then in the fall there I think it's late October,
in the November, we're doing a tour, you know, publicizing
this album or behind this album as some people say,

(25:27):
and kind of showing the world, you know, trying to
spread the word I guess about the album and the music.
And I'll be out there with my son's kicking butt.

Speaker 5 (25:39):
I mentioned earlier. One of my all time favorites that
nobody ever talks about is looking Out my back Door.
I used to be an oldies radio, so I love
playing all these songs. Who'll Stop the Rain is an
anthem classic Proud Maria. I got to ask you, what
was your favorite?

Speaker 9 (25:53):
You know, my answer is probably all of them. It's
hard to pick one. But I do have a big,
fundamental spot for Proud Mary because at the time I
wrote it, I had never written a really good song.
I'd been writing songs since I was about eight years old,
had studied My mom, of course, had blessed me with

(26:16):
the concept of what a songwriter is just by talking
about some of the people she loved, like Irving Berlin
or Hogi Carmichael. And I began to find people on
my own that were, you know, my generation, for instance,
Lennon and McCartney, or liber and Stoller or bob Bylan,
you know, these great songwriters. And the day I wrote

(26:39):
Proud Mary, I crossed that line and finally went into
the room where great songs are, and I was aware
of it. I looked at the page that you know,
of my completed song that had come in just a
burst of energy. Oh my god, I've written the classic. John,
You've written the classic? Did you excited about it?

Speaker 5 (27:01):
Did you do? Was your process music first? Then words?

Speaker 10 (27:05):
Or?

Speaker 5 (27:06):
And do you hear it first? Do you get like
a chord, a medley? How does it come down?

Speaker 9 (27:11):
Mostly I'll be strumming the guitar that kept working about
some musical figure on the guitar, and that will trigger
some sort of vision or feeling, a musical feeling. And
then if it seems promising, is oh I like this,
you know I'll keep going and that will result in

(27:31):
a song.

Speaker 5 (27:32):
John Fogerty closing moments. I'm wearing a Yankees jersey and
a Yankee hat. I guess I dressed well for this interview.
I remember the great Mickey Mantles quote if I'd have
known I was going to live this long, and I've
taken better care of myself. You've obviously taken great care
of yourself and your voice, and you lived long enough
to get what was rightfully yours decades ago. And I'm

(27:54):
so glad that you finally have this music back. You
can perform it, I can download it, I can come
to the concert. You've made such an impact on so
many of my listeners in my life, and it's watching
my kid sing all your songs and love them all
these years later. What it means to me, and I
hope it means a lot to you, and we're all
looking forward to seeing you this fall. Wow.

Speaker 9 (28:15):
Well you've just described how I feel. I'm watching people
sing you know, they know all the words, and oh
we do it might be twelve years old. That just
blows my mind, and I feel absolutely blessed. I'm just
the luckiest guy in the whole world.

Speaker 5 (28:33):
You've always been a thrill. I look forward to the
album and we look forward to seeing you in concert.
God bless you, sir.

Speaker 9 (28:39):
Thank you.

somewhere they'll start the fall tour. Hey, what if you
could delay your next two mortgage payments. I guess that
would depend on what your mortgage payment is, especially right,
if it's twenty two hundred dollars, if it's five thousand,
that's a lot of money to put in your pocket.

(29:22):
That's a lot of what I call breathing room. Well,
it's possible with American Financing, but only if you call
them today. So if you're feeling stretched by everyday expenses,
and who isn't. We all are groceries, gas bills, they
pile up, surprises, they happen, and then we use our
credit cards next thing.

Speaker 9 (29:38):
You know.

Speaker 5 (29:39):
It's amazing how fast those balances can rise. We're buried
in high interest credit card debt and we feel like
there's no way out, But there is. American Financing can
show you how to use your home s equity to
pay off that debt. All you need to do is
call American Financing today, and you should do it before
you can't make payments. That's when it gets problematic. They

If you're just waking up on this Friday, the twenty
second of August, these are your top five stories of
the day. The Democrats in California are moving forward with
their own redistricting efforts. Brian Shook has more.

Speaker 11 (31:13):
The Democrat controlled Assembly approved a measure Thursday that calls
for a special election aiming to redraw state maps that
would most likely give Democrats five additional House seats. California
lawmakers are set to finalize and approve the maps on Monday.
California's redistricting push comes as Texas Republicans move closer to

(31:34):
finalizing their own reworked districts.

Speaker 5 (31:37):
I'm Brian Shook. A federal judge in Miami has ruled
that no more detainees can be sent to Alligator Alcatraz.
We get the latest from Tammy Trehillo.

Speaker 12 (31:46):
The order issued Thursday night also requires much of the
detention facility in the Florida Everglades to be dismantled within
sixty days. The ruling of polls and injunction that was
requested over alleged violations of the National Environmental Policy Act.
Court records show the state of Florida plans to appeal.
I'm Tammy Truheo.

Speaker 5 (32:03):
Vice President J. D Vance was in Metro Atlanta on
Thursday promoting President Trump's big beautiful bill.

Speaker 13 (32:09):
During his stop at all Time an industrial refrigeration manufacturing
facility in Peachtree City, the Vice President wasted no time
talking about the tax cuts for working class families.

Speaker 5 (32:21):
So how nice is it in Washington, d C.

Speaker 7 (32:23):
To have a government that is going to protect your jobs.
It's going to fight for this facility and say, very simply,
if you're building it here, if you're making it here,
if you're producing it here, we are going to give
you and already have given you a big fat tax cut.

Speaker 5 (32:36):
That's a good thing.

Speaker 13 (32:37):
And Georgie's US Democratic Senator John Assof also wasted no
time criticizing Vans for trying to sell an agenda that
Alsoft tells MSNBC is defunding hospitals and nursing homes to
cut taxes for the wealthiest people in the country. I'm
Liz Kennedy.

Speaker 5 (32:53):
Investors will be watching for any clues on interest rates
as Jerome Powell delivers what will likely be his last
address is chair later today. Economic reporter Kevin Sirilli is
at the Federal Reserves conference in Jackson, Hawayoming, what they
hope will provide some clarity and clues around his decision
on whether or not he will cut rates in September.

(33:14):
Trump has been a harsh critic of Powell over the
refusal so far to cut rates. This is likely his
last speech, given that his term runs out, but it's
a time when he's facing significant pressure. A tropical storm
warning has been lifted for parts of the East Coast
as Hurricane Aaron moves away from the United States. The warning,
spanning from North Carolina really to the northern coast of Virginia,

(33:37):
was discontinued last night, but NBC Stephen Glover says the
threat isn't over yet.

Speaker 9 (33:42):
Carterick County official state beach erosion is expected along the
Crystal Coast, along with red flags as rough conditions persist
even after Aaron's left our coast.

Speaker 5 (33:51):
Connecticut's Little leaguers will face a familiar foe in their
quest for a Little League US World Series championship. Andrew
Whitman reports.

Speaker 10 (34:00):
The Fairfield National Little League Squad will take on the
Mountain Region champs from Las Vegas Saturday and the US
Finals at the Little League World Series. Fairfield beat them
Wednesday seven to three, Nevada down South Carolina five to
three Thursday to earn a rematch and the chance to
play for the US title. The winner of Saturday's game

(34:21):
will face either Aruba or Taiwan for the World Series
title someday. Andrew Whitman, NBC News Radio, Connecticut, didn't we
have the.

Speaker 5 (34:31):
Anyway, the goubaatorial candidate that was running around with his
underwear and got arrested. I don't think his campaign is
going very well anymore now. Rapper Little Nasx is being
treated after he was hospitalized in Los Angeles. The twenty
six year old Grammy winner was apparently spotted strolling down
the middle of a major street wearing only his underwear

(34:52):
and cowboy boots. Look Jeffrey has sported on an occasion
or two. Law enforcement sources tell TMZ no decision has
been made yet on whether Little Naseex will face any charges.
In sports, we had two Thursday night football games. Last night,
Steelers nineteen ten over the Panthers in Carolina. And let
me tell you something. The New York Football Giants are good. Serious.

(35:14):
You better duck. The Giants are for real. This defense
is unbelievable. They beat the Patriots forty two to ten. Baseball,
Brewers beat the Cubs four to one. Cards one seven
to four over the Rays, Dodgers nine to five over
the Rockies, the Pods beat the Giants eight to four.
A's one eight to three over the Twins, Tigers, d Backs, Guardians, Angels,
