Speaker 1 (00:00):
Well, by golly, is this Justin Moore?
Speaker 2 (00:02):
It is?
Speaker 1 (00:03):
Okay, I am good. I'm so sorry. This has been
kind of a hot mess of a day and I
thought it was my equipment failing because your call didn't
come through. But then also I had another call later
and that didn't come through, and then they finally connected
with me, and now now I'm connecting with you, and
so I don't know what's happening, but well I'm super
glad that the.
Speaker 2 (00:24):
Will's in motion for that. This morning, I apparently at
forty one, I don't understand time zone, so I called
an hour late. So my apologies.
Speaker 1 (00:35):
Well, at that moment, I was probably wishing you had
connected with me because I was sweating my mind out
at a crazy workout. But yeah, so oh wow. So
I'm super glad to be able to talk to you
right now, super super super glad. Okay, So yeah, blackwise, Yeah,
So Justin Moore here on our podcast, and so excited
(00:58):
that tomorrow you are coming into town McGrath Amphitheater with
Joe Nichols. Now, you guys have been out touring for
the better part of this month.
Speaker 2 (01:06):
Yes we have. Yeah, and Joe and I have become
pretty good buddies over the last handful of years, and
I have done a number of shows together. We're both
Arkansas boys, uh so, uh we we commiserate over our
our razorbacks and and all that good stuff. But now,
(01:30):
Joe's a great guy. I've been a fan of Joe
and his music for ever since he came out, which
was before I did. And now getting to know him
and become you know, really good friends with him has
been has been awesome. And uh, it's always fun when
we have the opportunity to go out and do some
(01:51):
shows together. And like you said, we've been out for oh,
I don't know, two or three weeks, and uh, so far,
so good. I think either of us have ruined our
careers as of yet, so hopefully that'll continue. Well.
Speaker 1 (02:06):
Two, I would call you veterans as far as you know, performers.
But yeah, I mean, I don't know why anybody would
sit at home tonight or tomorrow night when you guys
hit mograth amphitheater, because that's going to be a real
lightning of a show so so so good. So that
brings me yeah, right, they need to get out there, right.
Speaker 2 (02:30):
Get yours out there? Yeah, it's you know, it's fun.
It's you know, a lot of hit records, and that's
a no way meant to be boastful, but you know,
it's a it's a three hours of being able to
sing along to a bunch of stuff that you know
that thankfully you guys have played for he and I
over the past twenty ish years. So yeah, it's it's
(02:52):
been a lot of fun.
Speaker 1 (02:53):
Mm hmm, time's ticking. That is your latest from the
This is My Hurt, which came out back in October,
and I just can't believe how good this album is.
It's so awesome.
Speaker 2 (03:08):
Oh well, thank you. I appreciate it. Yeah, I'm proud
of it. We're actually fixing to start working on a
new album and so you know, as an artist, once
you get the album out, you know, we've been living
with it for for years at that point. So uh,
(03:28):
you know, these songs were written I don't know, three
plus years ago, and uh, not that we're we're tired
of playing them by any stretch of the imagination. But
but yeah, it's an album that that I'm really proud of.
My my live touring band, uh played on the entire thing,
(03:49):
which I'm very proud of and they they did a
great job and and and thankfully, you know, you guys
have have supported it at radio and been kind to
us over the years and have continued to do so
on this album as well. Well.
Speaker 1 (04:07):
I don't know sometimes how you do it, juggling all
the music stuff with everything you got going on in Arkansas,
But kudos to you because you're making it work. Well.
Speaker 2 (04:21):
You know, we have a lot of help, and my
wife is a rock star, and and then you know,
having Grandma and Grandpa's around certainly helps as well. But
it's you just have to prioritize, you know. And and
that's different for different different folks, you know. For for me,
(04:46):
it's you know, music, which I don't know that my
record label enjoys when I say this, but music comes
about third on the list for me, you know, it's
you know, God and family and and then in music
somewhere down there. Not that it's not super important to me,
(05:08):
because it is, but you know, I think that's part
of it. You just have to to prioritize things. And
and so that's kind of the order in which my
wife and I kind of kind of live by.
Speaker 1 (05:24):
Absolutely so when you have downtime, which is not right now.
But what what do you like to do to sort of,
you know, just kind of quiet your mind. What is
that thing that you go to.
Speaker 2 (05:38):
You know, probably the most therapeutic thing for me, unless
I'm in the middle of having to fix it, is
getting on my tractor and doing stuff around the house.
And whether it be bush hogging or cleaning up, clearing
trees and that kind of stuff, that's kind of my
(05:59):
my inplace. I also really enjoyed the outdoors. I hunt
and fish as much as I possibly can, and the
kids have gotten into it the older they get as well.
Both of my well two of my three daughters. This
(06:20):
past year they both got their first dear and you know,
we have a couple of ponds on our property fish
quite a bit as well. And so anything really in
the outdoors, whether again it's it's on a tractor doing
something which you know, for a lot of people would
(06:41):
be work, but for me, it's you know, and turned
the radio on and and getting an air conditioning cab
and and just kind of chill out, or like I said,
being on a deer stand, or you know, fish with kids.
Speaker 1 (07:03):
Yeah, so there you go. Here's the question. Then if
you have the choice, would it be boat or deer?
Stand like, which do you prefer? Is it just on
the day.
Speaker 2 (07:15):
M that's a tough one. That's almost like choosing between
your kids.
Speaker 1 (07:24):
Well, I don't want you to do that, but.
Speaker 2 (07:27):
I just went. I just went fishing the other day
back home with my preacher, and he's got it dialed
in right now with the crappie, and we call probably
thirty in about three hours. And I'm better at hunting,
and I enjoy both, but I probably enjoy fishing more,
(07:51):
to be honest with you. A challenge, right, yeah, yeah,
for sure. And for some reason it's probably becau because
I'm a warm weather guy. I'm not much of a
cold weather guy, you know. I'll do it to hunt, obviously,
but I've got all kinds of garb one to keep
(08:14):
me warm and eater in my stand and all. But
for some reason, I can sit there all day and
fish even if I'm not catching fish. But if I'm
three four hours into hunting and don't see anything, I'm
(08:36):
I'm I'm getting a little antsy ah.
Speaker 1 (08:39):
Yes, oh yes, it takes a lot of patience. Yikes.
All right, So well, then let me ask you a
couple other just off the top of your head kind
of things. When you're picking out a shirt, buttons or snaps, uh.
Speaker 2 (08:59):
For first naps?
Speaker 1 (09:01):
Oh yeah, Okay, now you're talking my language. Beverage of choice,
would you choose milk or soda?
Speaker 2 (09:10):
Milk? Oh?
Speaker 1 (09:11):
Yeah, I don't.
Speaker 2 (09:13):
Really drink coke. We call every we call every soda
coke in the South. Yeah, that's what I said, coke.
But I may drink one or two a year. Outside
of that, I don't really drink too much of it,
all right.
Speaker 1 (09:31):
And then when you're grilling beef.
Speaker 2 (09:36):
Or pork, that's tough because I do love pork chops.
But I mean it's hard for me to pass.
Speaker 1 (09:48):
Up on beef, good steak. Oh it made me hungry.
I made myself hungry. Well, all right, so you're coming
in tomorrow. This is super exciting. We want everybody to
get out for the show. Just kind of a wrap
(10:09):
up on where do you go after cedar rapids.
Speaker 2 (10:14):
We're actually home for four or five days and then
we're out. I think we go to Missouri and maybe
Colorado or something like that. And then we have almost
three weeks off. My wife's birthday is July fifth, and
(10:36):
my youngest daughters is July fourteenth, and so we always
take off for the fourth of July through my youngest
daughter's birthday, and so that's our I guess two and
a half three week vacation for the summer, if you will.
And we've had a place down in Florida for oh god,
(11:01):
thirteen years or something like that, and so we always
go down there and hang out at the beach and
do all that, shoot fireworks off and do that that stuff. So, yeah,
we get show tonight, show tomorrow with you guys, a
couple more, and then we get about three weeks off.
So excellent, looking forward to it.
Speaker 1 (11:23):
Yeah, just a little downtime before you ramp it up again.
I love that. Well, justin thank you for connecting with me.
It has been nuts. I know it's been a little
crazy of a day for you. I'm sure too, and
tomorrow also going to be pretty crazy. So we're looking
forward to seeing you and Joe in town ceeda rapids
McGrath Amphitheater tomorrow night, and you know what, break a leg,
(11:45):
go have a great time and we'll have a great
time alongside you.
Speaker 2 (11:49):
Yeah. Absolutely, I really appreciate your time and please forgive
me again for messing up this morning and being an idiot.
Oh I apologie.
Speaker 1 (12:00):
Not a problem. I'm just so happy to be able
to talk to you. So save travels and we will
see you tomorrow.
Speaker 2 (12:07):
Yes, ma'am sounds great, look forward to
