В рамках проекта “Куда пойти лечиться?”, к шестидесятилетию системы бесплатного здравоохранения в Великобритании, Русская служба Би-би-си подготовила тематическую передачу “Английский пациент” о плюсах и минусах этой системы.
5 июля 1948 года в Великобритании начала действовать Национальная служба здравоохранения - NHS. Премьер-министр Клемент Эттли объявил, что медицина будет на 100% финансироваться из налогов, а медицинская помощь будет оказываться бесплатно всем нуждающимся.
К 2008 году NHS стала самой крупной системой здравоохранения в мире. В ее основе не только врачи и пациенты, но и государство, которое в ответе за все “проколы” в отношениях между первыми и вторыми.
