“Киндертранспортом” называют в Великобритании операцию по вывозу еврейских детей из нацистской Германии и оккупированных ею стран. В декабре 1938 года по инициативе британской общественной организации в страну с разрешения правительства стали приезжать еврейские дети, которых брали к себе жить британские семьи.
Родителям же этих детей въезд был разрешен только при условии, что в Великобритании их ждет работа, так что большинство из них остались дома и позднее погибли. А почти десяти тысячам детей удалось спастись.
Эвакуация продолжалась в течение 1939 года до последнего транспорта в мае 1940 года.
Восемьдесят лет спустя усилия британских благотворительных организаций и помощь, которую они оказали еврейским детям, не теряет актуальности, когда многие дети беженцев из других стран мира, нуждаются в помощи недалеко от английских берегов.
