В нем Шнитке рассказал о том, почему он уехал из СССР жить в Германию в 1991 году, о том, как он сочиняет музыку пластами звуков из разных культур, разных религий и разных времен, и о том, как стихи Пастернака помогли ему понять свою идентичность немецкого еврея, рожденного в СССР. Он также говорил о легенде Фауста как о сквозной идее в своем творчестве. 24 ноября 1999 года, когда Альфреду Шнитке исполнилось бы 65 лет, на основе интервью, записанного в 1994 году, Джеральд Вуд подготовил передачу "В память об Альфреде Шнитке".
