В ночь на 17 мая 1943 года группа бомбардировщиков из 617-й эскадрильи Королевских военно-воздушных сил Великобритании совершила налет на дамбы в глубине территории Германии.
В результате разрушения двух плотин экономике Третьего Рейха был нанесен огромный ущерб – вода разрушила военные предприятия, заводы лишились электричества.
Для того чтобы такая операция состоялась, потребовалось разработать специальную бомбу, построить особые бомбардировщики и подготовить эскадрилью, которая стала впоследствии легендарной.
О подготовке и проведении, возможно, самой эффективной операции КВВС рассказывает Павел Аксенов.
