Since taking office for a second term, illegal border crossings have dropped to record lows under President Donald Trump. However, his mass deportation policies are facing criticism, as detractors argue that his administration is not solely targeting illegal immigrants with criminal records, and the crackdown could adversely affect industries that rely on migrant workers. In response, there is a bipartisan push to allow certain illegal immigrants who have lived and worked in the country since before 2021 to remain in the country.
