When you hear your voice on like a voice note
or a voicemail.

I hate it, somewhat embarrassed. I cringe when I hear
my voice like every time.

Speaker 1 (00:09):
I love my voice, but everyone says I have an accent.

Speaker 3 (00:12):
I just don't think I do you know?

Speaker 4 (00:14):
I don't know.

Hi.

Speaker 1 (00:16):
This is Lake Bell And that was me rolling up
on a bunch of random people, chatting to them about
their voice and the way they sound. Do you like
the way you sound? Most people don't, But our voice
is our most outward facing trait. As a writer, director,
and actress, I spend way too much time thinking about voices.

(00:37):
In my audiobook Inside Voice, I peel back the social science,
cultural constructs, quirks, trends, mechanics, and psychology around a piece
of our identity from which we rarely take much inventory
but probably should. At the end of the day, it's
all about identity, who we are and who we strive

Americans whose linguistic and cultural backgrounds may be very different

I got here.

And humility, the sound of courage comes in many forms.

Speaker 4 (02:07):
The fact that we think of some varieties is better
than others is not justifiable.

Speaker 2 (02:14):
On linguistic rounds.

Speaker 1 (02:16):
And we're going to exercise, Yeah, exercise with our voice.
We are at the ballet bar. We are working every
single muscle lipperty lipperty lipperity loop libberty lipperty lipperty enough. Yes, yes, yes,
the whole body gets involved. We will play games. We

asked a panel of also anonymous judges. Do they trust
it or will they bust it?

To reclaim the American dream and reaffirm the fundamental truth that,
out of many, we are one that while we breathe,
we hope.
