Brendan Francis Newnam was the host of a popular radio show, coasting through a happy adulthood when it all came crashing down. And so, like many before him, he decided to hit the road, but not on his own. In Not Lost, Brendan and a friend travel to a new place every week, meeting the locals in hopes of understanding their homes. And angling for an invitation to dinner. As they veer from Montréal to Mexico City, from New Orleans to Bozeman, they discover it's possible to find yourself in places you've never been.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Taxi. So we are heading over to Georgetown. We're gonna
be a recording a little back here is that? Okay? Hi?
I'm Brendan Francis Nunham. I'm a journalist, a wanderer, a
bit of a bond pavant, but mostly a human just
trying to figure out what it's all about. And this
is my travel podcast about all of those things. It's
called not Lost. There's just this sexy vibe, imentary all

(00:25):
this pulse, this energy boisman is seen as a very
snotty city people calls bos Angeles. When my last radio
show ended fairly abruptly, yeah, I was. I was a
little bit lost. I was a little concerned about your
mental health. It's true. I had a national radio show
and a steady relationship both ended, and after licking my wounds,

(00:45):
I pitched this travel show I always dreamed about. My
friend and I go places, see the sites and try
to get invited to dinner parties along the way. Now
at this show, trying to get myself back out there.
Lucky for me, a company bought the pitch. Dude, isn't
exciting now? I just needed to make the show once again.
I am back on the market. And I thought, where
should I spend the most romantic day of the year,

(01:08):
Alcan the desert with my friend Brendan. I don't spend
as much time thinking about how I'm going to die
alone when I'm traveling, but I get to travel with
someone I love. I love you too, and also we
get to eat as money. Reason's here. I love you too,
Mikee's a lot of therapy bills behind that here so white.
I love it. So I'm a priest who does match it.
I made an agreement with Jesus. I don't do any

(01:30):
of his material, he doesn't do any of mine. And
then I moved to an old, renovated wine barrel. Did
you say renovated wine barrel. We're trying to get invited
to a dinner party because it's a place where you
can genuinely get but meek as. It's only meek as. Okay,
so I think I have a family commitment. You would
feel more comfortable. We've got an electric bear fans. If

(01:51):
I peet on this wouldn't electric you me. I don't
know if I have ever had anybody pe on one.
Pretty quickly I learned that, as with anythings related to travel,
things weren't going to go exactly as I planned. Hey, BRender,
you really want to proper from this episode if you
promise when you pitch the podcast, remember you're looking for
a dinner party. I'll have to get back here between

(02:14):
the driving and the rain, and you're looking at this bone.
You're gonna kill us. We just got here. How you
do a term without falling off that cliff? Yeah, I
don't do that. There's two people. There's a malamute doggle oh.
I bet to tell you, Brendon, I've got some gambling debts.
I got one, we got it. I got a bish.

(02:38):
Just come out of my bedroom. Brenda's laying off the
flo What are you looking at? You want to gain?
Holy shit? Or in Arizona? Are we supposed to be
in Arizona right now? You're in the Shangary Lana. I've

(02:58):
seen something movie right now that is definitely a UF.
Not Lost a show about finding yourself in places you've
