קובי פינקלר מארח את תא"ל במיל' אביגדור קהלני, גיבור ישראל, פצוע צה"ל שזכה לעיטור הגבורה ממלחמת יום הכיפורים ולעיטור המופת ממלחמת ששת הימים וגם עיטור הנשיא.
הגענו לצפון רמת הגולן. כוחות השריון הסורים - מאות טנקים מנסים לפרוץ ולהתקדם וזה היה כאילו המהלך האחרון שלהם להשלים את כיבוש רמת הגולן. היינו 4 ימים סגורים בטנק, והבנתי שהולך להיות יום קשה מאוד. אתה שומע צעקות 'לסגת, לסגת', אבל סגרו את הדרך מאחור ואין שום אפשרות לפנות את הפצועים וההרוגים לצפת. משאיות הדלק התחמושת והמזון לא יכולות להגיע אלינו. התחלתי לנסוע קדימה, העברתי את כולם לתדר האישי שלי, כדי שכל תותחן וכל טען בכל הטנקים ישמעו אותי. השתמשתי בפקודותיי בערכים של העם היהודי - נתתי להם ממש נאום ציונות נלהב. וככה התקדמנו. אני לא יודע אם אי פעם בחיי התפללתי חזק כלכך כמו אז. אם הסורים היו מצליחים ונכנסים, הם היו ממשיכים משם לכבוש את הגליל חלילה. ניהלנו קרב בלימה חזק, וב"ה הצלחנו לבלום ולהביס את הכוחות הסורים.
אני מאוד מוטרד מעתיד המדינה שלנו. אנחנו בתקופה נוראית. פתאום כל מיני דברים שאולי יהיו מוסתרים פרצו החוצה. אני מרגיש את עצמי שליח של האלפים ששוכבים בבתי קברות שהסתערו אל המוות ולקחו את גבורתם איתם. אני שואל את עצמי, האם אנחנו ראויים למותם של אותם אנשים אלה, ביניהם מפקדיי וחבריי הטובים, אחי וגיסי? אנחנו ראויים להם כשהם שוכבים בבתי קברות בני 20?
