לפני מאה שנה הגה הרב מאיר שפירא מלובלין רעיון שיאחד את כל עולם התורה - לימוד אחיד של דף גמרא אחד בכל יום, כך שבתוך 7 וחצי שנים מסיימים ללמוד את הש"ס. עד היום רבבות יהודים בכל העולם כולו מקפידים על לימוד הדף היומי בקביעות. לרב שפירא לא היו ילדים, והוא נהג לומר ששני ילדיו הם שני מפעליו הגדולים: ישיבת חכמי לובלין, והדף היומי.
בשנת 1933 הרב שפירא נפטר ונקבר בפולין. הנאצים הרסו את כל החלקה סביבו אבל הקבר שלו נשאר שלם והעבירו אותו לקבורה בהר המנוחות. אז פעם הבאה אם יוצא לכם להגיע להר המנוחות חפשו את הקבר של הרב מאיר שפירא מלובלין, ששינה את כל עולם היהדות.
