ביום חמישי הבא יציינו בישראל את יום העצמאות, השנה נחגג ב-1 במאי. בעבר היה האחד במאי, הוא יום הפועלים, יום חגיגי ומלא במשמעות בישראל – ובעולם כולו, אבל היום זה רחוק מלהיות המצב.
בעשורים האחרונים נסוג השמאל העולמי מהבמה הכלכלית, והרעיונית, ולפחות במערב, איבד גם את הקשר עם המעמדות העובדים.
במקביל, מתתזקים במערב כוחות פוליטיים שלא היו בו זה עשרות שנים – כאלו שמעודדים לאומנות, בדלנות, נסיגה דמוקרטית ואפילו פאשיזם, ואפשר לשאול האם גם המרקסיזם צפוי מתישהו לעשות קאמבק?
לבעיות הכי קשות של המין האנושי יש קשר הדוק לשיטה הקפיטליסטית. משבר האקלים יוצר בעיות חסרות תקדים שרחוקות מלהגיע אל שיאן, חוסר השוויון הכלכלי מערער את הסדר העולמי הדמוקרטי וריכוז המשאבים בידי פחות ופחות בני אדם מקשה על קבלת החלטות שמשרתות את הכלל.
בפרק הזה אנחנו חוזרים אל קרל מרקס, בניסיון להבין האם העולם מיהר מדי לזרוק את הרעיונות של המבקר הכי חשוב של הקפיטליזם. נבדוק גם למה המצב כל כך טוב ב"דיקטטורות" של שוודיה ונורווגיה, ולמה כדאי לנו להיזהר כשאנחנו אומרים שטבע האדם לא מתאים לחיי שיתוף ושוויון.
