בפרק השמונה עשר של שְׁכַר סוֹפְרִים מתארחת אצל שי עמית הסופרת יעל נאמן. סופרת יוצאת דופן. שנדמה לפעמים שהיא מנוכרת לתואר סופרת, מעין רואה שאיננה נראית מבחירה. כתיבתה בוהקת ומנצנצת, זוהרת ומוארת במרחבי הספרות העברית מבלי לנסות להיות כזאת. כתיבתה לוכדת את הזמן בעודו מתרחש (הרבה לפני שיהפוך לזיכרון). יעל היא סופרת קשת כתיבה שכל חייה נאבקת בצנזורה הפנימית שלה. היא לקחה אותנו אל ילדותה בקיבוץ, צעדנו בשביל עם הילדה שהחלה לכתוב כבר בגיל צעיר והאזנו לקראת שינה לספרים שקראו לה בבית הילדים. אלה לא היו סתם מילים עבורה, כי אם תחליף לחום וחיבוק של הורים הקוראים סיפור לפני השינה. בין לגימה ללגימה התבגרנו עם הנערה והעלמה שכבר הבינה שהקושי לחלק מהילדים הגדלים בחינוך הקיבוצי הוא שאין שוויון בתכונות חמקמקות כמו להיות אהוב. היא שיתפה אותנו איך למדה להילחם בצנזורה הפנימית שלה, ובגיל חמישים החלה הנביעה הפנימית לפרוץ, לא כדי להיזכר או לתעד אלא כדי לתת ביטוי להתעסקות הקיומית שלה בשאלה כיצד לחיות - לתת ביטוי שאינו מופשט, שאינו מדובר או מצוי רק במחשבה, לסיפור המתחולל בתוכה בכל רגע. מספר לספר יעל איפשרה לנו כניסה אל מרחבה הפנימי כדי הבין שהכתיבה היא ניסיון לכתוב בתוך עיוורון, שניתן לכתוב רק את מה שהצלחת לתפוס.
