In het Polderlab in Oud Ade werken wetenschappers van de Universiteit Leiden samen met mensen van de WUR, Naturalis, boeren en vrijwilligers. De landbouw zoals we die nu kennen kan niet zo doorgaan: de bodem daalt en daarbij komen veel te veel stoffen vrij die we niet in de atmosfeer willen. Maar hoe moet dat dan? In net Polderlab zoeken ze het uit.
Stichting de Buffelbes exploiteert in de polder een voedselbos, er groeien noten, fruit, cranberry's en zelfs hop en rijst.
