Speaker 1 (00:02):
Get a and welcome to AFL.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
Today's wrap for the bottom ten sides that have missed
the finals. On mcwall in again for Leam McCallum. I
don't know if he's coming back, boys, I don't know
what's going on. I might have to I might have
joined the payroll to be honest. Joined by Marcus Bizzant
on le Lea MORALEI how are we boys?
Speaker 3 (00:20):
They're not bad, not bad, feeling good. I kind of
wrap up some crap team season.
Speaker 4 (00:24):
Let's just say before we get into it, just a
reminder make sure you're subscribing on YouTube so you get
all the content and follow us across all the social
media channels.
Speaker 2 (00:38):
You got Instagram, you got x, got TikTok, Facebook, get
around us everywhere to make sure you're not missing any content.
Speaker 5 (00:45):
Boys.
Speaker 1 (00:46):
Let's just get stuck into this now. We're going to.
Speaker 2 (00:48):
Go from top down, so from the teams that just
missed the eighth down to the teams in.
Speaker 1 (00:53):
That bottom four spot.
Speaker 2 (00:54):
So we're going to start with the Western Bulldogs obviously
painstakingly close to the eight, missed out on a bucket
load of wins and realistically should have been there. But
obviously Frio stepped in and ensure they missed. What we're
gonna need is we gonna need your best player. We're
(01:15):
going to need a young gun to watch out for,
and also what they need to do in the off season,
and of course a grade.
Speaker 1 (01:21):
So let's get to start it. Leo, you're going to
take the dogs.
Speaker 3 (01:24):
Let's do it best player. Look, I got to stick
with the Bond. I was thinking about this. Ed Richards,
I think probably eclipsed him in terms of season, But
Bond is their best player.
Speaker 2 (01:39):
The best reason it's a season, Rod, I know that
we've just gone straight into a contract is.
Speaker 6 (01:44):
Like the most handsome man. I can't say no to that.
Speaker 5 (01:48):
It's only lead to be wrong in the first category.
Speaker 1 (01:53):
That's where we're at.
Speaker 6 (01:53):
Now, That's where we're at now.
Speaker 3 (01:55):
All right, fair enough if I just think he is
their best player, like when he gets going this season,
he's been their best player.
Speaker 5 (02:01):
Negative all right?
Speaker 6 (02:05):
Can I can I win?
Speaker 3 (02:06):
You're back with this one, young gun, Sam dars That's good.
We're back on good terms of that one. What do
they need this offseason? I think it's simple. It is
defensive stocks. I do question lobby and James O'Donnell down
back at times. I think we saw in that Frio
game they were a little bit susceptible and Jones just
(02:26):
can't find a spot in this team, which I find strange.
Speaker 6 (02:28):
He was an emergency last week.
Speaker 2 (02:31):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (02:31):
I feel like he would be one that would be
in that side for me.
Speaker 2 (02:35):
The one he's always is always been a bit understated,
but he's just so consistent year on year.
Speaker 1 (02:43):
I just don't know why you anyway.
Speaker 3 (02:44):
Yeah, it's a strange rue. And speaking of strange ones,
they apparently want Stephen May.
Speaker 6 (02:49):
Now.
Speaker 3 (02:49):
I don't think they've watched much football this season, but
Stephen May has not been his best self.
Speaker 6 (02:54):
He's not I think he might be entering there the
sort of twilighters.
Speaker 3 (02:58):
He definitely is firmly and that so bring him over.
I don't know if that's the answer if they do
pursue that. The ones I would look at, I think
Brandon stasifch is one that they should be throwing some
coin at. He's just a fantastic lockdown defender, and they
desperately need someone on that small forward Like you look
(03:18):
at their defense, like who is their lockdown player that
can that can shut down that exciting.
Speaker 5 (03:24):
Small I thought my head Lockie Bramble could.
Speaker 2 (03:30):
Awful.
Speaker 3 (03:32):
You know, That's where I struggle to see him and
Mitch McGovern the other one we talked about his contract,
like not getting the contract extension by missing one game
in our rap show.
Speaker 6 (03:42):
Is he one that comes in for that.
Speaker 3 (03:43):
Third tour role that they that they could be playing
out for all the other two?
Speaker 2 (03:46):
I want to they need to whatever they need, whatever
they're going to do there, they need to do plenty
down that back on because Daron Norton now is in
an option the way he plaid forward this year, he
needs to stay forward.
Speaker 1 (03:55):
There's no Jamara now.
Speaker 2 (03:57):
They may have found another one, we know that, but
the bttom one is the forwards operating well. They've probably
got the deepest midfield in the competition. They do have
the deepest midfield in the competition. So it's a great shout.
We'll move on to Sydney. Marcus, look, Sydney, I think
we're going agree. The only reason that hmentire part in
September was injuries. Because when they got their team back,
they were playing good footy and good enough to be
(04:17):
in that top eight definitely, but they they they did
miss I just probably go, you're great.
Speaker 1 (04:24):
What was your final grade on.
Speaker 6 (04:25):
The bad d for the Dogs?
Speaker 3 (04:26):
Yes, that should be making top four tops at least Marcus,
you're going to.
Speaker 1 (04:31):
Take the Swans.
Speaker 5 (04:32):
Yeah, look, best player. This was actually hard to decide
for me and I'm even changing on the floor on
the run seet keen in there because he had multiple
twenty plus five goal games. It's just so hard to
leave Brodie Grundy. Yeah, because he's going to be for me,
he's going to be the start. Do you think he'll
win their best in Paris Brodie Grundy.
Speaker 1 (04:53):
Yeah, Oh that's a great question.
Speaker 5 (04:55):
Because if you put you put it in that way,
I think, well there, But regardless, you can't really go wrong.
It's hard to pick between the two.
Speaker 1 (05:03):
Both should be all Australian. They both had great years.
Speaker 5 (05:05):
Yes, absolutely, absolutely, young gun. Look, this was actually another
one that was hard to decide for Sydney because they
don't have any store walk guys that are you know,
twenty one and under that absolute guns that you thought
this season they're going to be great, Like you've obviously
got the likes of it's a totally cleary that we're
in and out of the side, but they never really
(05:26):
made a statement like Riley Bis's limited games, but then
he is also twenty five years already sort of mature.
They do.
Speaker 2 (05:33):
They're in a good position where they don't have they're
not all aging, but they are really quite established in
that mid twenties range.
Speaker 5 (05:39):
Aren't that. So I've gone with Matt Roberts just to
certify a bit more bit more possession. He's a lot clean,
He's got a lot more games under his belt this season,
he's had an increased role. I think with Callum Mill's
missing majority of.
Speaker 2 (05:52):
This it was very good when Calum Mills was out
at the side, and I think he still found his
place when Calm came back into so good cheer.
Speaker 5 (05:59):
So I think a role on their side at least
for the next season and beyond what they need in
the off season, well, I just think it's a proven
tool goalkicker, because someone who can certify fifty sixty plus
a season. That's why we've already seen them linked with
Charlie Kurno, who was rumored with a move away from
the Blues. And I think Amarti he's a great player.
(06:21):
I don't think he's the number one key time. He's
a great second tool, I think Joela Marty. So he
needs someone with the pressure on him, a pressure to
take away from him, and he will get that second
tool defender.
Speaker 3 (06:33):
So can I pose a question just off the cuff,
if they did land Charlie Kerner, are they all of
a sudden like a premiership favorite for next season?
Speaker 6 (06:41):
If they are, provided they stay fit with.
Speaker 2 (06:43):
That midfield they have, they have to be in the
discussion to top.
Speaker 5 (06:46):
Two or three.
Speaker 6 (06:47):
Yeah, definitely.
Speaker 1 (06:47):
So they're in a Grand final a year ago.
Speaker 2 (06:49):
The only problem with them is that Sydney is the
sort of team as we've seen in recent years. Love
him to make the Grand Final, but you can't back
hitting it if I want to be on for the flag.
So I just want to get to go deep, win
a minor premiership, win some finals. Yeah yeah.
Speaker 5 (07:06):
And there's some players there that just heaven hasn't haven't
hit the heights for in these positions like the tall
four withd like Logan McDonald, he has just fallen off
a cliff really from the heights.
Speaker 2 (07:16):
We thought all in on Charlie Kurno and give up
your draft capal and just have a crack, right I think.
Speaker 5 (07:21):
So that's so what's their great I want to give
them a fair sea just because I believe injuries derailed
the start of.
Speaker 2 (07:29):
The in the middle for what it is like you
get to see an examine.
Speaker 5 (07:35):
Obviously meals missed a lot good and missed the lot
pappily missed a lot. Injury sort of derailed and we
saw at the end of the season they beat some
bloody good sides as well to play some good footing.
Speaker 2 (07:46):
One of the most form sides at the back half
of all right, to get onto one of the funnest
clubs to review there is, and that's the Carlton.
Speaker 6 (07:54):
It's a great way to say up.
Speaker 1 (07:56):
All right, so Baggers.
Speaker 2 (07:58):
They showed some signs throughout the year, but obviously disappointing.
We're talking about a team that's recently played in a
premium team that played in the finals last year, a
team that has been touted as having the best five
payer top five in the AFL, which we know doesn't
mean a thing when it gets to finals. It's about
how your bottom five or six perform, not about your
best five. They definitely don't have the best five anymore,
(08:20):
there is no doubt about that.
Speaker 5 (08:23):
Will they finish eleventh, come so yeah.
Speaker 3 (08:25):
Pretty Grim, best player, I've gone with George Hewart. He's
had a sensational season.
Speaker 2 (08:30):
He's great, But I'm sorry, if George Hewart is your best,
is car't with least?
Speaker 6 (08:35):
Dad is why he's probably going to win their best
in Farrest deserves it.
Speaker 3 (08:39):
On South the six rounds, we're talking about him, Him
Weding right him?
Speaker 5 (08:43):
Are weading?
Speaker 6 (08:44):
It's got to be one of those two. Now, young gun,
pretty Grim, I've gone with Jagga Smith.
Speaker 5 (08:49):
He hasn't even played a games, mate, mate, Come on,
what who else? You've got to take this seriously, Yiki?
First of all, who else is there?
Speaker 6 (08:57):
Young gun?
Speaker 5 (08:58):
He hasn't played a game?
Speaker 6 (09:01):
One young gun?
Speaker 5 (09:02):
Name?
Speaker 6 (09:02):
One younger?
Speaker 5 (09:03):
Can you be the young girl?
Speaker 3 (09:05):
Name?
Speaker 5 (09:06):
So at least do someone who's played a game? You
could do? Run?
Speaker 2 (09:09):
Can we just recap the first ten minutes this show?
So the first thing he said is I'm doing Bond
because of his good looks and he's a better even
though I know Richard's had a better year, but maybe
he hasn't. All right, and now I'm going I'm going
with the young gun as a player.
Speaker 6 (09:23):
Name one other young gun?
Speaker 5 (09:25):
Well, at least someone who's played a game. You can
do one of the Camper Alley boys.
Speaker 1 (09:30):
He's probably right. It's grim.
Speaker 6 (09:32):
They literally don't have a young gun. Is literally just
Jagger Smith who hasn't played the game. Look good in
that preseason game.
Speaker 1 (09:42):
All right, So what do they need?
Speaker 6 (09:43):
They need a lot they do good boar users is
an absolutely must. Let it go, mate, let it go.
Speaker 1 (09:51):
The worrying thing is that we don't have an alternative
for it.
Speaker 6 (09:54):
If you can name one other young gun, I'll rest
my case. But you kind of exactly there you go.
Speaker 5 (10:00):
Do someone's played a game man?
Speaker 3 (10:01):
All right, Well, let's get into what they need. They've
got the inside contested stuff. They need the good ball
users and they need to go out and find ball
users in every part of the ground.
Speaker 1 (10:14):
How old's Obie Award three? It's probably still yeah.
Speaker 6 (10:19):
Frank Evans, No, I think he's like.
Speaker 3 (10:24):
Liam Ryan. Look, he's most likely going to the Saints.
He requested a trade, but.
Speaker 6 (10:28):
I think he fit the Blues perfectly.
Speaker 3 (10:29):
Great kick in that front half of the ground, and
I want to throw out a very rogue shout Bailey
Williams from the Dogs.
Speaker 6 (10:35):
Now I looked at his stats.
Speaker 3 (10:37):
He's got to seventy six percent kicking efficiency playing that
half back wing role nicely, and over eighty percent in
terms of disposal efficiency. I think he's one that could
definitely play a role for the Blues in that position
and potentially in McGovern Williams swap with a few.
Speaker 1 (10:52):
Ex need to Didraycraft pick in there to get that done?
Speaker 5 (10:55):
Do they have one? Do they already have one in there?
Speaker 2 (10:57):
Though?
Speaker 5 (10:58):
And also actually just in on the top of my head,
he could be shout for young gun for Carlon Ollie
Hawins because I feel like he's a similar sort of winger.
Who is Bailey Williams a gun?
Speaker 6 (11:08):
Yeah, this is about Bailey Williams being a gun.
Speaker 5 (11:10):
I'm talking about for the young Star. Yeah, but I'm
just thinking he was, so he would have been a shout.
Speaker 2 (11:15):
Well they need a lot and that it's not I
like what you're doing here. In terms of this, I
actually think they should let Kono go.
Speaker 6 (11:26):
Really.
Speaker 5 (11:27):
I think it depends on how going.
Speaker 2 (11:29):
And I think that you just and absolutely get as
much capital as you can for him. So what you
do is you try and you make it work. You
can involve other clubs and you get him what you need.
Because if you have one really good key forward, you're
in a better position than some other clubs.
Speaker 1 (11:47):
If you have two, you're better than just about everyone.
Speaker 2 (11:50):
So we've seen We saw Colinwood do it with Frampton
and Cox. We saw Melbourne do it with a cooked
Ben Brown and Tom McDonald. You don't need two key
forward guns to win a flag. In fact, we don't
really see it. When's the last key forward that won
a Norm Smith Medal? Gary Abbut nine point eighty.
Speaker 1 (12:12):
Nine, Plenty of small forwards win them.
Speaker 2 (12:15):
We've seen that midfielders win them, defenders even win I
don't know if having the two keys is the answer,
so I think that there is so many other areas
around the ground that you need to fix, starting with
your kicking and the delivery, because I would suggest working
on better delivery.
Speaker 1 (12:32):
The one key forward is far better than just continually
bombing it to two.
Speaker 2 (12:37):
So I know that they're tied to to Kurno or Mackay,
whoever it is. I think that And the other one
you could you could look at is maybe you look
at Walsh.
Speaker 1 (12:46):
Well, these are the options. Maybe it's time to start again.
Speaker 3 (12:50):
Don't mind are getting out whilst bringing in someone who's
a little bit more polished, but doesn't get as much
as the of the ball. There.
Speaker 1 (12:56):
You go, exactly right, they're.
Speaker 5 (12:57):
Already losing jacksonl Vanney as well.
Speaker 1 (13:00):
Well, that's that's shocking that they've lost him.
Speaker 2 (13:02):
They should never lose a soy and and he is
so underrated as a player, and if he goes to
Collingwood that will be heartbreak because he will be there,
and he'll be in their starting eighteen and he will
be playing gratefu.
Speaker 5 (13:14):
Craig McCrae did come out and say it's not with us,
but he is a lot of talk fly that he's saying.
Speaker 1 (13:20):
That he's going right where.
Speaker 5 (13:24):
Yeah, so imagine.
Speaker 1 (13:25):
That's got him. The dog's got him. Now you're talking.
It's all right, all right? So what's the grade for Carlton.
Speaker 6 (13:32):
I'm giving them an F. Of course everyone said top
four and they don't make finals. They pitiful F.
Speaker 1 (13:39):
I genuinely felt bad for the bag.
Speaker 2 (13:43):
I sat with some supporters on multiple occasions and I
watched them go through it, and I'm like, well, you
you guys are going through it. I saw him at
the Collingwood game that I was doing there, some of
the Hawthorne games, and I.
Speaker 1 (13:56):
Was just and they went from a bit of fun.
Speaker 2 (13:59):
To actual like I'm feeling you here, proper proper empathy,
because I can't say sympathy. I've never really felt that
bad at a game of all right, Sin Kilda, tell
you what season of two halves for these guys? Injuries
and out the door and that is gonna leave and
we're not doing well and we can't get King on the.
Speaker 1 (14:21):
Park and to finishing off strongly with a heap.
Speaker 2 (14:24):
Of wins, pushing GWS in the last game and then
NAS resigning. So Saints have had a really interesting year. Marcus,
who's been their best player?
Speaker 5 (14:37):
Oh yeah, look, I don't know. Actually, there's not one
fun for There's not one that really stands out to
be honest.
Speaker 1 (14:44):
Maybe yeah, maybe the.
Speaker 6 (14:47):
Guy that they just paid two million.
Speaker 5 (14:48):
Yeah, well yeah, obviously we'll have to go Wan Unreal
is a generational Yeah.
Speaker 2 (14:54):
That is a that's a no brain. And now young
guns are the opposite of captain. They have a swag
to choose from. Who have you got who's the young
gun we're watching out for me?
Speaker 5 (15:02):
I just think the one that provided the most excitement
for Saint Kilda fans and just AFL fans in general,
was Taru.
Speaker 6 (15:09):
Yeah, I should have got the Viking had him.
Speaker 5 (15:11):
You should have should have. So they've got so many
locks they got. It was only twenty one, isn't he Yeah,
so I think he probably would count. But I think
I'm gone pure young Taru. He he's going to be great.
They've got to They're going to be good Saint Kild
with all the young talents, just now keeping a hold
(15:32):
of them and then pushing that towards more wins next season.
So but in terms of what they need in the
off season, look, they've already all but secured t DK
on eight years after that awkward goodbye speech from Carlton.
Who's another one that we didn't mention in Carlton that
he's leaving. Yes, yeah, but really I don't think that's
(15:52):
what they need. They've got Roland Marshall. But look, it
does that signing was assumed TDK does go to Saint Kilda.
That signing does a Marshall to move.
Speaker 7 (16:01):
Forward and get more forward minutes, and they can both
pay forward, right, So you could literally rotate and go, okay,
well we don't know, can we're going to rotate Marshall
and TDK as Ruckman full forwards.
Speaker 5 (16:12):
I don't know if you want TDK, but it's just.
Speaker 1 (16:14):
It's just eighty twenty. It's the eighty twenty rule. TDK
can rest forward.
Speaker 5 (16:18):
But after all, Marshall was drafted as a forward.
Speaker 1 (16:21):
Marshall kicks goals.
Speaker 3 (16:22):
The other question is, though, if TDK comes, is that
mean Marshall leaves you hope not, you just gotta I think.
Speaker 5 (16:29):
Marshall does love the football club and he does want
to say he's come out if they wanted that's he
came out and said he don't want to stand and
he loves me everything I said. He said, but we
know what they need. Yeah, we do know what they
need for me. It's a bullish midfielder with experience.
Speaker 1 (16:45):
They need a midfielder.
Speaker 3 (16:46):
I think that's just wind Hager in time, yeah, which
which old game has. Yeah, but they need they need
they need an experience. They need what Jack Steel was
and was going to be. They need what Jack McCray.
Speaker 5 (17:00):
This is exactly my point. I said, you can't hope
on Still to return to his best and we just
have a look at the clearance stats. And also I
want a bullish midfielder who can also hit the scoreboard
as well.
Speaker 6 (17:12):
Because they don't easy to find.
Speaker 5 (17:14):
They don't get goals from midfield. So the midfield three
out the bat I'm looking at like a Christian Petrak
who's possibly been rumored to leave the league Melbourne. He's
a bullish midfielder who can hit the scoreboard.
Speaker 1 (17:24):
I how would they are not going to be able
to pay the track?
Speaker 3 (17:27):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (17:29):
If they did, like it would be extraordinary.
Speaker 5 (17:31):
Perhaps could you put Liam Ryan in there who could?
Speaker 1 (17:37):
Yeah, fantastic.
Speaker 5 (17:39):
But we will have a look at the clearance stats
for Saint Kilda this season and because mccrane eat help right,
he finished with about one hundred and forty clearances. That's
forty more clearances than any other Saint Kilda player despite
missing the better part of a month two months of
footy with injury. And the second was Jack Steele who
just about cracked one hundred, who was coming onto the sub.
(18:01):
It was like one of the first captains ever to
be the sub.
Speaker 6 (18:03):
Yeah, so make a good point, but.
Speaker 5 (18:06):
I do think win how you can be that player
and if you want to, but you can't just keep going.
We'll tag him for half the games this year. We'll
get him as a tagger and then we'll have him
as a pul midfielder, so in that you either put
him certified tager or certified midfielder. And if you put
him as a certified midfielder and ross Lyin does want
(18:26):
to persist with that tagging role, I think someone like
Alex Chincotter, who's out in and out of the Carton team,
who was actually proven to be a more than capable
tagger would be the answer. If you want to put.
Speaker 2 (18:39):
Imagine a ross Iim world in which he doesn't want
to have a tagger there.
Speaker 1 (18:43):
So that's a great shout.
Speaker 6 (18:45):
Look.
Speaker 1 (18:46):
I know what you're saying as well.
Speaker 4 (18:47):
There.
Speaker 2 (18:48):
If wind Hager becomes that role and nas is a
full time midfielder next year, they're two players which we
I think we can all agree their progression could be rapid,
so we could We've already seen a huge jump in NATS.
He doesn't need much more of a jump, like his
best is already top five in the comp. If Windega
(19:08):
has a has another good jump this year, maybe maybe
it's not as needed.
Speaker 1 (19:12):
But I just they're still young.
Speaker 2 (19:15):
They are really young, and we're not you're not getting
enough from the others. We're not expecting McCray to come
out and have that many clearances again, are we I
mean he's going to He's going to start to bottom
down stuff exactly.
Speaker 6 (19:28):
I just think they need goal scorers though, like I
gat the midfield points.
Speaker 5 (19:31):
But they do, which is why in my thinking was
because they're going to get t DK Marshall moving forward.
They've got Marshall. I really like h Cooper sh same here.
Speaker 3 (19:42):
I love Koob Sharp signing. If they do get Ryan
is good. They've got Higgins, they need King Fit.
Speaker 5 (19:46):
Yeah, Higgins is one of the best more forwards in
the competition, but I think Kings.
Speaker 1 (19:50):
Where do you play Philipo?
Speaker 2 (19:52):
Where are we going to get the best footy out
of him?
Speaker 3 (19:54):
I think he's starting probably seventy five twenty five forward
mid then your build his base getting out of the midfield.
Speaker 1 (20:01):
Yeah, because that he could also be that player.
Speaker 2 (20:03):
Yeah, maybe not next year the year after anyway. And
great from Ross at the start of the year and
a number of people have spoken about this thing. Aman
Canecorn's talking about it when when he was talking about
the difference between Melbourne and Sint Kilda this year was
the way they set up expectation on their Footy Cup.
Speaker 1 (20:22):
Ross Lyne was very much No, No, we're not ready.
We've got a young list.
Speaker 2 (20:28):
We don't expect it this year and if you think
about some Kilder's year, there has been no expectation. The
only thing anyone's talked about Kilder is nas nas nas
tdk TD and they got both.
Speaker 1 (20:39):
Whereas Melviourn, we.
Speaker 2 (20:41):
Love each other, we're flying, we've fallen, backing up with footy.
Everyone's happy to be here. We're going to be so good.
And then it was expectation. The coach was his job
absolutely so. So it's so important.
Speaker 1 (20:52):
So sin Kilda Grade.
Speaker 5 (20:55):
I think there's a lot to look forward to. So
I'm going to give them a bee, give them be.
I think they're starting to compete a lot more than
especially last year with the bigger sides. They even went
out and they went out and beat along as well
at Marvel, which I know that that is probably like
their bogey Gelong's bogey side it is. But the winning
games that they starting to win, which is like we'll
(21:16):
probably get to with North Melbourne. That's what they need
to start doing, like win games that they should be winning.
And that's what will we do.
Speaker 2 (21:24):
All upset the sace to be honest, it'd be great.
Speaker 6 (21:26):
Al I don't know about that one, poor Adelaide.
Speaker 3 (21:31):
Look the best players obvi is Zach Butter's absolutely ball
in that midfield. You know what you're going to get
to get from him and come to Hawthorne please and
thank you. Special mentioned to Georgiardi, yespecially I did. I
did have to think about it. Georgia Ardis is in
the conversation.
Speaker 6 (21:45):
You know, sixty breakout year.
Speaker 1 (21:47):
Can we call it? I think that we call it.
Speaker 3 (21:48):
But it's also one that he stayed fit for for
like he always has like a niggling injury here and there.
Speaker 5 (21:53):
It's good to see him stay overperformed by an absolutely well.
I never thought he could be a number one het
all thought he was a.
Speaker 6 (22:00):
Number two or three as well. He's proven himself young gun.
Speaker 3 (22:04):
I've gone with Horn Francis because I was thinking about it.
Speaker 6 (22:08):
He is the young gun.
Speaker 5 (22:09):
But it's weird to think that he's still young.
Speaker 3 (22:10):
He's still like what twenty one, twenty two, But if
you look past him, there's not a lot.
Speaker 6 (22:16):
Like I was having a look, there's Jack Whitlock who's played.
Speaker 5 (22:20):
On young.
Speaker 6 (22:21):
I think Bergmann's like twenty three three, So I feel
like these guys like.
Speaker 3 (22:27):
Two three Morays, Yeah many LYDDI I was considering but
Liddy's twenty three as well. So I've got a few
guys around that twenty two to twenty three, not a
lot around ninety. And maybe it is Jack with localled
Joe Berry, but we haven't seen enough of them now
looking at Port in the off season, I think it
should be supported either end of the ground, especially if
they keep Butters.
Speaker 1 (22:46):
Let's just say they keep Butters.
Speaker 3 (22:47):
They've got a strong midfield core with Butters Bergman Rosie,
You've got warm.
Speaker 2 (22:55):
It's a pretty it's a it's a midfield that can
you can win a flag with that meant absolutely, no doubt.
Speaker 3 (22:59):
Absolutely, So I think going back to what I said
for the Dogs, I think Starsvitch and McGovern would also
work for them in that back line. I just feel
like sometimes you don't get the best out of Brandon
Zerk Thatcher and Josh Sin is another one that I
would like to see more from, So I think those
two could come in and be instant upgrades from those positions.
And you look at Bocan really retiring as well, I
(23:21):
just think maybe they want to have a look at
that wing spot and that forward spot respectively, to bring
someone in at either end of the ground as well.
So those are the positions I'd be looking at Port.
Speaker 1 (23:35):
Very very good grade. It's got to be an F absolutely.
Speaker 3 (23:38):
I think the coaching, the succession plan itself is an F.
So they had raps to make finals and they did not,
and it was just a bit of a mess in
the end.
Speaker 2 (23:48):
For what the f did you think was going to
happen when you put two coaches in the box? All right?
Speaker 5 (23:52):
Melbourne Marcus, Yeah, I think the best player obviously again
was another one looks in here between two players was
the Mexic on a Cosey picket. And I've gone with
Max Corne. I just think he's had a more consistent Yeah,
And if you're looking for match winners, it's it's Max
Corn young Gun. They've actually got quite a few as well.
Speaker 1 (24:12):
Actually they do. We saw some exciting things from Melbourne.
Speaker 2 (24:16):
So there, this is why i'd be if I was
if I was an Albourne supporter, I'd be fine with going. Okay,
Gorn's gone gone, stays here until he cannot play anymore.
He's a great leader, He's the guy that keeps his
club together, and he's the best ruckman we've seen.
Speaker 5 (24:29):
So you can say Gorn's not gone.
Speaker 2 (24:31):
Exactly right, exactly right, But others like Oliver Petrarca, Yeah,
they can go and then you may leave all of
them and then you restart and you go, we're going
to build this cub around Cozy Pickett and others and
having harving thing for Cozy Pickett and others.
Speaker 1 (24:49):
Anyway, but they've got a lot of young guns.
Speaker 5 (24:51):
They do, so it was it was hard to pick
up Zavier Lindsay. You've got Van Royin and the forward
line even yeah, you've even got players like John mcviege
and the back line and Jake Bowie who was still
very young but young. Harvey Langford, Ye, he was by
far and away. He was probably arguably pretty stiff not
to be in the conversation for top three for the
(25:12):
rising stars.
Speaker 2 (25:13):
I reckon, I reckon he'll finish fifth. I was having
a look at this. I think he'll finish fifth, outside
of the of the main four they're talking about. Yeah,
so I think I think he'll finish fifth.
Speaker 5 (25:24):
But he's had a fantastic year and he's going to
be a great player as well. So young Gun, Harvey
Langford what they need in the off seasons. For me,
I think it all depends on their outgoings in all honesty,
and there could be quite a few like we've just mentioned,
like Waller even mentioned like all those players that could
easily be offloaded. So the strongest rumors to leave they
(25:46):
are coming out of the defense with May and Lever,
I think they both rumored to leave. So possibly Mitch
McGovern who's not going to get that contract trigger extension
at Carlton. If one of those leave, he could be
the one to come Invanne Sylvanne could leave, but he's
already he's rumored with either the Dogs. He had meetings
(26:07):
with the Dogs of the Bombers.
Speaker 2 (26:07):
If you've been through what Jack Sylvanne has been through,
don't go to You wouldn't want to go to a
club that's had issues. You would want to go I
know that if I go to a Collingwood that every
it's going to be fine, or Western Bulldogs to under
center as well, a Hawthorne something like that, a Geelong
that has just they consistent in terms of their ability
(26:30):
to be able to get back in and compete, but
also the administration of the of the park stuff is
pretty good, and I think that if I was Sylvanni,
I'd want to not worry about any of the stress,
any of the other bs that comes with it and
just be able to focus on my foot.
Speaker 1 (26:47):
I don't think you get that in Melbourne.
Speaker 5 (26:49):
Sylvanni is I think twenty eight as well, so he's
in the prime of his career, whereas McGovern's thirty hour
I believe thirty thirty one, so he's still got.
Speaker 1 (26:56):
Sh Sylvanni be so good at the Dogs A couple
of ye, that's all.
Speaker 2 (27:00):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (27:00):
Also, one thing I think Melbourne do also need is
a key forward. I think that's a yeah, absolutely absolutely
forever having. They're hard to come by, but look, there
could be a few on the trade table this season
because they just provided way, way, way too much pressure
on Jacob van rowin this season, especially moving McDonald back
at the start of the year and yeah, moving him forward.
(27:23):
He just you could tell you he couldn't handle the pressure.
He crumbled a little bit under that pressure. He ben
himself out of the side a little bit as well.
They need someone they could but would want to go.
Speaker 1 (27:37):
He wants to change, You wants to see change.
Speaker 2 (27:38):
He wants to go Gold coast or Sydney fair enough
and and that's the whole There was talk around John
give Mess you know.
Speaker 1 (27:46):
Yeah, I think he just wants to surf. By the
sounds of it.
Speaker 5 (27:49):
I think for Van Ruin's development, he needs to come
in as a second, second tool forward. So you need
a new number one tool that will take the pressure off.
Absolutely that what's their grade, It's gonna be an f
after like you mentioned, all the talk all season they
lose their coach. There's rumored to be a host of outgoing.
Speaker 2 (28:10):
If you sack your coach halfway before the end of
the year, your seasons are fail.
Speaker 5 (28:14):
And they've just finished outside the bottom four.
Speaker 2 (28:16):
So yeah, just all right, Speaking of which, Essendon, Yeah,
it won't make you. I'm not going to make you
relive it, Marcus. You're going to pick essen it up.
Best player Zach Marrett locking in straight love watching him
play football. Just absolutely underrated start.
Speaker 1 (28:35):
He will look so good in Brandon.
Speaker 6 (28:37):
Go absolutely man.
Speaker 3 (28:38):
Absolutely come to Hawthorne, young gun. I've actually I've gone
with Nate.
Speaker 6 (28:42):
Caddy in this. I did consider Archie Roberts, but I.
Speaker 3 (28:45):
Just think Nate Caddy has probably got a highest ceiling
and as a forward, just like he's so athletic, so
great to watch.
Speaker 6 (28:51):
So he's another one.
Speaker 5 (28:53):
I'd love him.
Speaker 2 (28:54):
He's got, he's got and he's got a little mate
down there forward as well, or a big mate as
well in May. So you've got to the Ford line
for the future Essendon with CaCO as well. It actually
looks all right. The Ford line looks like potentially you
could have two genuine tools and a great small forward.
Speaker 1 (29:14):
It's the rest of the ground that's the worry.
Speaker 6 (29:16):
Well, it's funny you say that.
Speaker 3 (29:18):
I still think while you know you've got Caddie McMahon CaCO,
I think they're really great starts for that future forward
line like you're talking about. But they're all still very
very early in their football career, so I don't know
if we're going to see that next year or the
year after, maybe the year after. But I still would
love to see the Bombers go out and get like
a my check. Now the Pies are only off round
one year apparently. I think if you put my check
(29:40):
with Kaddie McMahon, I still think that's a that's a
really good lineup.
Speaker 6 (29:44):
My cha kicks thirty six goals this year.
Speaker 2 (29:46):
That's handy and works, works and works, which I think
would be good there.
Speaker 1 (29:51):
Would you, okay, would you take my check or Fridge?
Speaker 3 (29:55):
I would if I'm Essendon, I'd honestly take my check
because I just think Fridge sometimes times, even if he
is gettable, I think bombers should look at him, but
I just think he's a bit more selfish.
Speaker 6 (30:06):
I think my Check is a bit more of a
team player.
Speaker 5 (30:09):
One, which I probably lean more towards my check. Bigger
tooler body you could take on another one tool. Obviously,
I think Fridge is very similar, sort of not I
wouldn't sa similar, but like we've got that guy on
Langford who missed a whole bunch of foot and Langford
(30:31):
Langford can kick minimum forty goals he's done before, so
and to have him as a third tool would be
would be great like Langford, I mean, so to have
more Check as the number one. Caddy is a number
two and Langford is a number three, and possibly you
could even throw like a McMahon or a may in there, I.
Speaker 3 (30:51):
Think, right, I think, and another one as well, just
off the cuff is just sort of a good ball
user in that midfield. But I think they might already
have that on their list. I wouldn't mind that Archie
Roberts play a bit higher up the ground. Would you
would you consider Roberts maybe he's a half forward flanker
using his kick inside fifty rather than out of the
back line.
Speaker 6 (31:11):
You still got red men down back. Who's a good kick.
Speaker 5 (31:13):
I don't mind keeping Archie Roberts where he is because
I think we've seen so far he's very composed as
well for his age, Like there's clips of him where
there's four players around him and instead of you know,
panicking and getting a panicking ball off, which we've seen.
We've seen the likes of Dylan Chuele who's retiring, he
never he never got that. Archie robers just holds on
the ball like weaves his way through and fallns of
(31:34):
fallings a way out. So I think keep him down back.
Speaker 1 (31:36):
What's your one one last thing?
Speaker 2 (31:38):
Do you need a new coach? Yes, okay, yes that's
the other thing we've spoken about, Piers, but I think
you might ed new coach.
Speaker 6 (31:44):
I don't mind it. Grading I'm giving them a sea.
Speaker 3 (31:48):
I'm just giving them a lead off because of their injuries,
like they were cook. I could honestly maybe sea's a
bit harsh, if anything, like, I think.
Speaker 2 (31:57):
I think C is the grade you give where we
don't actually no, it's like Sydney Sydney pay. Yes, they
finished high, they had a lot of injuries s and
then had even more injuries and didn't have as good
at least, So it's it's it's the same sort of thing.
It's that's C grade that they're just there in the middle.
We don't actually know where they're at because in fantas
high it was just it was just horrible to watch.
Speaker 1 (32:19):
Even I want to be good so we can pay
them and it can be fun.
Speaker 2 (32:23):
And all of that, but they were they just players
kept going down and down. Maybe maybe that's where they
need to spend some money in the soft cap and
in terms of getting some change in that.
Speaker 5 (32:36):
Yeah, well, apparently they're going to Qatar and I believe
somewhere else during the off season they're sending a select
few players over there to to test out that every
year happened.
Speaker 6 (32:49):
They're always taken over these trips somewhere.
Speaker 2 (32:52):
Guitar was like the home of sports medicine. The money
is yeah, well it certainly is about that, all right,
fascinating place to kitar I reckonend going an opportunity.
Speaker 1 (33:06):
North Melbourne.
Speaker 2 (33:08):
Wow, Wow, Wow, North Melbourne, Marcus, this is all you.
Speaker 5 (33:13):
Yeah, best player Tristian Jerry. Yeah, it's got to be right.
He didn't get in the All Australian. Look. There's other
shout outs. Harry Schiazel. Obviously he break a record most
of the vfl AFL game. Paul Curtis was up there.
He missed with suspension and injury as well a little bit,
but he's I really like Paul Curtis. I think he's
an absolute player, young gun who could also be pushed
(33:36):
in this conversation because he had a fantastic second half
of the season. It's Colby mccirche. Now, I think he's
back half of the year. He's having thirty plus every
game off the half back line and another one. He's
a good he's a good disposal, he's a good ball user.
It's just whether you want to persist with him off
that half back. I think he will get pushed obviously
further up the ground in future seasons. So Colby mcirche
(33:58):
is my young gun. Obviously, a couple others that burst
on the scene but didn't quite play enough footy like
the Cooper Trembass and those sort of players. But what
they need in the off season, boy oh boy, hell
how long we have you could go the long run,
the rumor to have more midfield acquisitions.
Speaker 6 (34:18):
Like yeah, what was the Windager?
Speaker 1 (34:22):
They don't get it, They've always been rumored. They don't
get them. They don't get them. They never landed.
Speaker 2 (34:27):
They didn't land Josh Colly, they didn't land Martin. Ends
up spending what's seven hundred and fifty eight hundred thousand
dollars a year on Jared Public and for five years
he played.
Speaker 1 (34:36):
That was it was a bit of a stake. No,
I was part of the year. It's just this is
this is what they do.
Speaker 2 (34:41):
I I have now just gone and again you know
I'm gonna kid on the damn. But at a point
they actually need to improve because potentially is a horrible
word in footy, and they roll it out every year.
Speaker 1 (34:55):
This is this a potentially great team.
Speaker 2 (34:58):
Do we think Clark is maybe just the last few
years has taken too much of a toll and maybe
he's done because we're talking about a guy that reinvented
three different game plans for Hawthorne and one four flags
over a span of sort of a teeny period or
whatever it was we're talking about. It was less than that,
(35:19):
but we're talking about one of the all time greats
throw a period of coaching.
Speaker 5 (35:23):
So this was his third season at North Melbourne.
Speaker 6 (35:26):
Yeah, so I just it was the interrupted It was
the interrupted thing.
Speaker 5 (35:29):
I get that. But even when he was appointed or
I was kind of like, look, I don't think it's
the right appointment. I was happy to be proved wrong,
obviously because he is as proven to be a great coach.
But yeah, in all seriousness, I'd be going, look, if
I was a North Melbourne fan, I'd be like, maybe
time for a little freshened up with such a young group.
Speaker 2 (35:50):
Because the one thing he did have at Hawthorne when
he picked up, Yes, he had some young guns like
Roughhead and Franklin and that come in, but he also
had four years development into Hodge and Mitchell and Campbell
Brown and these sort of players. And then he also
had some other experienced players like Trent Crow and Shane
(36:11):
Crawford coming on, so he had a nice mix.
Speaker 1 (36:14):
North Melbourne it.
Speaker 2 (36:15):
Feels like they had no leadership. Yeah, they had no
real topping leadership. And they had nothing but young guys
and it's sort of been a little bit aimless. The
addition of Luke Parker I think was a really really
smart one, but that's not going to get I.
Speaker 5 (36:30):
Think similarly with Darling was yeah smart.
Speaker 6 (36:33):
They need to make it upgrade on Darling though next year.
Speaker 2 (36:35):
I think, So what are the het We're saying everything,
but what is the answer. If you had the keys
to the North Melbourne Football Club and I said to you,
got what the what are the two things you do
in the off season? What are they?
Speaker 5 (36:47):
I say, in all seriousness, they need a lockdown defender,
preferably mid size, with someone starts experience at a relatively
top successful club.
Speaker 3 (36:59):
See I hear that, and I do agree. But we
also look at Jackson. Archer was injured for a lot
of the year. Is that just him other you're just
resting your soul on another young.
Speaker 6 (37:09):
Yeah, but I think he's proven that he could be
that he could I don't know.
Speaker 3 (37:13):
I feel like I agree, but maybe someone who's a
good kick out of the back.
Speaker 5 (37:17):
We talk about talks about potential, Like we said, you've got.
Speaker 1 (37:22):
Mccirchhey, is is he he can be that?
Speaker 2 (37:25):
Prior that brings the ball out of the back.
Speaker 5 (37:29):
But in saying that, like they were close to getting Maynard,
which I thought would be like that perfect sort of
ill possibly obviously the like money question game they missed again.
But it's defensive minded defenders because for me, they don't
really have that. Like Mkircher, I think he's he's not like,
he's not defense first, he's boy.
Speaker 2 (37:50):
He was the same with fin intimidating, like nobody key forwards.
There's nobody in that back on that and he would
worry anyone. There isn't a Maynard, There isn't a starts
of it there In a hard week, did you go
and engage? Today is going to be a tough day
for me at the office. They don't have those players.
Speaker 5 (38:07):
And look they're starting back six for the final game
of the season. Had Mkircheer, Foss and Powell in that
they all don't have like a defensive brain. Yeah, so
that's why they brought out the back way way too
too many times. So we're looking at options and provide
some options. Now. I think Sean Lemon's possibly at Gold Coast,
who's thirty, who's who's played some foot in a decent
(38:29):
sort of system like markov I don't mind that. Like
at Collingwood because they missed out on Maynard Tom Doudey
who can't get a game at Brisbane. Worth have put
him back there, they have, but possibly he could get
a fresh end withah Andsworth's who's been injured at the
Lions as well, and another one from the Lions. I've
(38:50):
named three Lions here, but Brendon Stacevic has also been
rumored to.
Speaker 2 (38:53):
Leave Iredan starts fishing out of West Coast. Right, we've
thrown his name around it. It's a lot of they're
all good shouts. Markovsen is one. What's their great I'm.
Speaker 5 (39:02):
Going to give them an e because they I think
they were very lucky to escape in f but they
did show the riginal stages the cart and win. They
are competitive against better size. They drew to Brisbane it's
the reigning premier.
Speaker 6 (39:16):
Yeah they did.
Speaker 5 (39:17):
I know that was down and tasi, but they have
pushed a lot of other sides. They had a lot
of close losses, but again what we talked about, they
just need to turn those in the wins. Yeah, so
they just escaped with the knee.
Speaker 3 (39:29):
All right, Richmond Football Club, Yeah, let's do it best
player Nick Boston.
Speaker 6 (39:35):
He's just so reliable down back.
Speaker 3 (39:36):
He's intercepting and leadership ability is so important to Richmond
averages nineteen touches, seven and a half into steps, six marks.
I just feel like if they didn't have him, it's
like another three goal, four goal like added on to
their loss.
Speaker 5 (39:51):
Doesn't he get that all Australian jacket.
Speaker 3 (39:53):
I think the first one has to talked about it
in our all Australian sort of.
Speaker 6 (39:57):
I guess chat in our awards shar. I think he
has the.
Speaker 2 (40:00):
It's been an open enough year where there isn't like
six defenders that you have to have in ahead of him,
so I think you should have arned over the career.
Speaker 1 (40:07):
A young gun.
Speaker 3 (40:08):
I've gone a bit different here. I could have gone
Lawla or Hotton, one of these guys, but I've gone
with Seth Campbell.
Speaker 1 (40:14):
Are you're not going with Smiler who hasn't played yet.
Speaker 3 (40:16):
Because unlike Carlton, Richmond actually have other young guys that
are coming to I really love watching Seth Campbell play
in twenty eight goals this season, most for Richmond.
Speaker 1 (40:30):
Just for a small forward in a bottom two side.
Speaker 3 (40:32):
I think that's really impressive and it's just a bit
of an excitement machine. You saw the backflip in Round
one against the Blues, like something happens when he's around
the football.
Speaker 6 (40:40):
I reckon he's a young gun.
Speaker 5 (40:41):
Yeah, but you saw a bit more from Sam Lawler
in that.
Speaker 6 (40:43):
Open Sure, I wasn't that impressed by that, though.
Speaker 1 (40:47):
Regal the same goals as m more gals. That's enough
said there. What do they need in the offseason?
Speaker 3 (40:54):
I look, I like what they have with the young
talent coming through, particularly in that midfield, and they have
North pick, so they've got pick three alongside their pick two.
I think, honestly think they can't really go wrong. They
could package those picks for a star player, or they
could just take him to the draft like I feel
like either way.
Speaker 5 (41:12):
Is there an area in the draft that the air
on the ground that they look at.
Speaker 6 (41:15):
Well, there's a boy by the name of Cooper duff Titler.
Speaker 3 (41:19):
I believe he's a ruckman, one of the best prospects
in this draft.
Speaker 6 (41:22):
If West Coast don't take.
Speaker 3 (41:23):
Him, I think Richmond should be all over him as
the name replacement for a couple of years time.
Speaker 2 (41:29):
Taking a taking a taking a ruckman at the top
of the draft order, when yeah, it is risky, but
I think when you got.
Speaker 3 (41:37):
Too top, yeah, I guess, yeah, maybe they could they
go honestly prackice, package those up, go later in the draft.
Speaker 1 (41:43):
Or go for a star playing future is so bright.
Speaker 3 (41:45):
I think they've got a lot of like experience, I
think experience.
Speaker 6 (41:49):
Look, I think they've still got it there. I think
you've got.
Speaker 3 (41:51):
Taranto, You've got Hoper, Nank, you know Lynch, Pressa, these
guys Boston and Broad as well.
Speaker 1 (41:56):
Yeah, there is a fair bit.
Speaker 6 (41:58):
There's a fair bit there.
Speaker 5 (41:59):
I think you can you get a key forward.
Speaker 1 (42:01):
And Lynch work with him and get him.
Speaker 3 (42:04):
Yeah, okay, I think with the key forward. So they
have Lynch there, who's probably got one or two years left.
But they do have a I guess, an array of
key forwards that are untested.
Speaker 6 (42:15):
You've got arms Strong fall Sims, these guys force it away.
You've got to wait and see on them.
Speaker 3 (42:21):
I don't mind the idea, but you're just adding another
sort of untested guy into that mix.
Speaker 5 (42:25):
But twenty eight goals as you're leading goalkicker for the season.
Speaker 2 (42:28):
But you've got to remember that they also finished. They
finished right down the bottom of that.
Speaker 5 (42:32):
So I feel like the other clubs around them. North
have got Lakie, West Coast have got Watermen.
Speaker 2 (42:37):
Yep, yeah, we touching up.
Speaker 1 (42:44):
Here's my question.
Speaker 2 (42:45):
Without notice, you're Richmond, You're looking at all this draft capital,
all these young picks. You've probably got the best crop
of young players because Smiley, hot and or Class, all
three of those could be the best part from this draft.
No other team has three options. Other teams have one
or two. They have three players. We haven't even seen Smiley.
(43:05):
He was going to go number one originally and then
the injuries got involved. So you have three guys that
may be the best thing. Pennybody said. Hoton is probably
the best of them and we've seen all he went one,
so they're in a great position. John Long, myyer, is
on the market. Adam Simpson is on the market. Goodwin's
on the market. Ken Ingle is now on the market.
Do you buite the board and go thanks for a
(43:26):
couple of years. Use is not the answer. Let's go
and get a premiership or an experienced coach, because I
know for now there is.
Speaker 1 (43:34):
You cannot look at me straight in the eye.
Speaker 2 (43:36):
And tell me that you would continue with Uzah instead
of getting John long Myra as your coach.
Speaker 3 (43:40):
I know, would it set them back in a way
that like use has this these like relationships with the playing.
Speaker 2 (43:46):
Greckon John long Mora established so pretty buddy, could that's.
Speaker 5 (43:50):
So harsh considering we feel like how good of you
Richmond have had? Can compare it to expectation?
Speaker 2 (43:55):
Question is seventeenth and eighteenth on on on pressure, acts
and tackle.
Speaker 1 (44:01):
Isn't that the one thing they can control? So I don't,
I don't.
Speaker 2 (44:06):
I look at the brand. I look at a very
nice football club at the moment that's not Richmond. There's
no spite there, there's no I'm not worried about Aura.
I don't. I'm not worried about that at the moment,
right I'm not entering that debate. I'm gobsmacked if that's
the answer.
Speaker 5 (44:22):
I just I agree, he's the guy before the guy.
So but he's.
Speaker 2 (44:29):
Rip the mandate off because it's better than it's better
than building it up.
Speaker 1 (44:32):
In three and four years. But the other thing is that.
Speaker 2 (44:35):
There is not going to be this bank of Premiership
coaches available. Adam Simpson who did a great job at
West Coast and then was just sort of like he
was a victim of a two team absolute footy man
town in the end, and a list and and injuries
and all of those things. Adam seems go to be
a great option with John Longmeyer is one of the
(44:57):
better coaches of the last two decades.
Speaker 3 (44:58):
Yeah, I mean, look, it's hard to pass up on.
I'm just skeptical because I just feel like they can build,
like they can do it all again.
Speaker 2 (45:07):
A premiership coach in the future. That pauses your answer,
it is, I just don't know if now fair enough.
I'll make a good points they're great c plus plus
it's so harsh, yeah, I mean they did finish second
last though, they beat there, they double everyone. They get
(45:31):
five wins, five wins, four wins five yeah, five wins. Yeah,
it is probably a bit harsh, but at the end
of the day, it is a bottom Yeah, fair enough team,
but see even the plus there the plus of course,
all right, the last team, the Eagles.
Speaker 1 (45:49):
Disastrous year.
Speaker 5 (45:51):
I really struggled to pick the best player for West
Coast in all honesty, but I went with Lean Baker.
Speaker 2 (45:58):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (45:58):
Yeah, I can see that has just been I know
he's going to miss the last game. He's going to
miss the starter next season with suspension, so true, but
I think he's just been ultra consistent all year for us,
like he.
Speaker 1 (46:10):
Was as advertised. This is what they this is what
they brought in, and he delivered what he delivers.
Speaker 2 (46:15):
He turns up every week. He's a great cup man,
he's a great leader.
Speaker 1 (46:18):
He just did it for them.
Speaker 5 (46:20):
I want to give it. And I thought McCarthy probably
was a mid season draft. He came in probably too
late for the season, but he had another great year.
He had the like of Ryan Marritch as well, who
was was very good. But I want to give a
quick shout out to ruined Jimbi's efforts. I think it's
being out of position, I believe as a key back
(46:41):
often like he was playing in Jeremy Cameron and like
for a player that young, and I think like that's
not his best spot, like injuries and what have led
him to that position for West Coast this season. So
I think still the best is to come. So I
just think pure purely his efforts. You didn't hear a
peep out of him, like he didn't. He didn't look
like he didn't give a crap or like ego, so
(47:02):
one being played our position here. He was just putting
his all in every single game. So shout out to
the room, Jimmy. In terms of young guns, it's gonna
be Harley Reid doesn't that second year, how bloody goes
I know, two year contract extension which just secured into
twenty twenty eight. So West Coast fans, we love him
that he's a promometer. We saw snippets of what he
(47:24):
can see even with the pressure of him being the
guy around in his career at that club, He's going
to be a great, great player. Absolutely what they need
in the off season. I've just mentioned him already been
the guy they need experience, Yeah, to take the pressure off,
especially with the likes of Dom She didn't play basically retired,
(47:45):
Yoh didn't play all year, McGovern force to retire, Waterman
didn't play pretty much all year, Oscar Allen's now moving
away from the club and didn't play the majority of
the season, So they missed the whole scoop of experience there.
So if they all those guys played this year and
they still had the likes of you know, like a
Jack Ray and Aleiam Baker, these sorts of players. Tim
(48:07):
Kelly is still in the side. They would be getting
more than one one win in the season, definitely, But yeah,
with all those out and look like they're getting forced
out with injuries or traded, they definitely need more experience
and an experienced defender.
Speaker 2 (48:22):
In my eyes, it's a great shout. What was the
grade we gave them?
Speaker 5 (48:27):
I gave them an F Obviously, you've win one game
a year, like you kind of has to be. It
kind of has to be.
Speaker 1 (48:32):
There's not many, there's not many one win seasons.
Speaker 5 (48:34):
It was two in me that was like going to
give him an he out of pity, just because of
all the names that he'd mentioned the season.
Speaker 6 (48:42):
It's great, one win season, brutal.
Speaker 2 (48:45):
They they will be fine because they are the biggest
richest cover in the man really I'm not probably not
the biggest, but they're they're the wealthiest, and they have
just they win fags in every decade, one of the
best twenty ten's like they will we find they will
find a way back. So you go, all right, thank you, gentlemen.
