Speaker 1 (00:00):
AFL Today is around sixteen. A rap is here, lads,
what do we cover?
Speaker 2 (00:04):
I had a great time watching my beloved uncle kick
sevens here?
Speaker 3 (00:08):
Uncle oh, I have the Sydney Verse Dogs. What a
game of footy? And that is that the game of
the year.
Speaker 1 (00:13):
It's not, I think it is. I think it is.

for the Hawks. Egg on there?
Speaker 2 (00:33):
Do you ever get upset? Marcus that he throws to
me for always? Marcus First, this is my handsome friend
Mark single.
Speaker 4 (00:41):
He throws to both of us. He should throw to
both of us, be like the boys on the Boys
and I'm just sitting here like he could have told
me before the show.
Speaker 1 (00:50):
We've also got Marcus the best to last, best to last.
You saved it there said, there we go. We got
another awesome show. We're going to get through all the
Round sixteen review. Make sure you subscribe to the AFL

It's actually Ouzzie rules today all the others. It is
AFL today. Are you And that's for more footy content
(01:12):
all season long. Leave a comment. We need a few
more comments in the on the YouTube as well. We're
going to do some social shorts. It's done a few, actually, Leo,
you got that. I got roasted on. But we'll see
how we go.
Speaker 2 (01:21):
Yeah, you got roasted on, as you said, but I
reckon you. Just pop in a few more and we'll
react to We'll.
Speaker 1 (01:26):
React to some comments in so some love comments instead
the stats guy you really needs.
Speaker 5 (01:31):
I got nothing hates for Leo.
Speaker 1 (01:32):
Yeah, I actually to mind that you want to shout
out your Instagram again? Nah damn. All right, let's get
into it. Let's get into the games. Around sixteen results
Thursday Night footy at the Adelaide Oval. Now, Leo, this
is your one. We We're gonna start with Port Adelaide
sixteen goals, forty one hundred and ten. Carlton eight goals,
twelve sixty. They've done it again, Carlton.
Speaker 5 (01:51):
Oh no, they've done it again.
Speaker 2 (01:53):
But I want to start on Port and give them
their flowers and we'll get to the disaster that is
George Artist. Lads, he's officially here. I feel like a
few weeks ago, you boys, when he kicked seven against Melbourne,
you were like, oh, I don't know if he had
that in.
Speaker 1 (02:07):
Has he got the consistency? That's what I was asking.
Speaker 5 (02:09):
He's got the consistency. Five goals is great. I love that.
That is a great output.
Speaker 2 (02:14):
But what I really love from Georgia Yard is is
he's so good at identifying where the dangerous space is.
He knows how to get off his man and then
push into that space. And the Port mids they just
trust him to do that every time.
Speaker 5 (02:27):
He's so good on the lead.
Speaker 2 (02:29):
The usual stars for Port they were just they were awesome.
Chef's kiss, they were Chef's kiss. You got Rosie doing
his thing. But as he shook the tag, didn't he
stats guy?
Speaker 1 (02:40):
He did shake the tag, so he played the played
the full of Chincott's. Chincotter went to the bench as
he was tagging him. They both sort of looked like
they were going to the bench, and then but it
goes I'm gonna double back. I didn't think he had
that much brain power Butters, but he did really want
us to shake the tag there, I think more and
then Carlton had to waste a sub so fair play, Yeah.
Speaker 2 (02:57):
Fair play and another player who was really good Miles.
So he did a great job on Crips. He limited Crips,
but twenty five disposals and two goals himself. I actually
want to ask a question on this one. Port Adelaide
have been it's all about keeping Butters this offseason and
they need to that's obvious. But Bergman is also out
of contract. How important is Miles Bergman becoming to this
(03:19):
team that they just have to sign him to that
same level that they have to sign Butters.
Speaker 3 (03:23):
And I think it's very important.
Speaker 4 (03:24):
Ollie Warren's going to be retiring, You've got Travis Boke
going to be retiring as well. These are the players
that you need to keep around the club. And he's
just an excellent role player. You all on the weekend
what he did with Crips, and he can influence the
game himself.
Speaker 1 (03:38):
Yeah, And I think we talked up obviously Harnt Francis,
Rosie Butters and we're like, where's that next sort of
level of player, and he is probably that other than
Georgia Ye, Bergman would probably ran out the top five,
which we didn't know who was in that top five
at the start of the season, so you have to
get his signature otherwise they're going to be relying on
those guys again next season.
Speaker 2 (03:56):
If they do lose Bergman, that's massive for them. I
just want to end on port just a few quick
shout outs. Darcy van Jones never lights up the statue,
but he's so reliable, always does the right thing.
Speaker 5 (04:07):
Travis Boke get him in all Australian rigman. Travis Boke.
Speaker 2 (04:14):
He was so clean, he didn't make one mistake. And
the youngsters of Richard's, Hugh Jackson and Lyddy, they all
brought some energy and their work rate was exceptional. Now
we get to color, we get to the grim stuff.
Speaker 5 (04:28):
This was ugly. This was really ugly to watch.
Speaker 2 (04:30):
Now.
Speaker 5 (04:31):
The skill errors were prevalent. The lack of fight in
play was prevalent. They didn't mind a few fights outside
of play stupid, But.
Speaker 2 (04:40):
It was their mentality, their effort, their lack of attention
to detail, their care for the detail, that was very,
very poor. And I don't think we've seen that from
them this year. We've seen the skill erarors, we've seen
other stuff. We haven't seen that. So that was the
major sign for me that I'm like, oh boy, this
is this is really bad. It was stuff like not
(05:00):
picking up the ball, you know, not kicking over the
man on the mark, not being able to stick with opponents,
getting burnt by blokes like Richard who are prepared.
Speaker 5 (05:08):
To run, prepared to put in the hard yards.
Speaker 2 (05:10):
And you have Patrick Cripps come out and defending Voss, which, yeah,
you've got to do that as your captain of your club.
Speaker 5 (05:15):
I thought he spoke really it was either.
Speaker 1 (05:17):
One that spray painted on the walls keep Voss.
Speaker 3 (05:21):
I'm not.
Speaker 2 (05:24):
Yeah, they got someone inside of the club did it,
but he came out and fair enough to defend him.
He had to do it, and he spoke really well,
this isn't an attack on Crips but and nor really
is it, Voss. But it was just for me that
the way they played it was like they were waving
the flag. It was like they were not playing for
the coach with what I sort of mentioned those reasons.
(05:44):
So is anyone on this panel VOSSI in post this
season or even this season.
Speaker 3 (05:50):
Absolutely not.
Speaker 4 (05:51):
I think the worst thing about that though, is you
could see not to this extent, but you could see
that sort of result coming yeap, especially playing Kuno arguably underdone,
were doing ugably underdone, and off the back of losing
to North Melbourne as well, you can see it coming.
So yeah, I think there needs to be changed.
Speaker 1 (06:09):
Yeah, I'm vossy out. I don't think it's all on
him because, as you said later, the skill errors were there,
but he's got to go. They need to change, They
need to change Carlton.
Speaker 2 (06:16):
Well, they've got a lot of issues and I just
want to end on this last question.
Speaker 5 (06:19):
The Blues. They have had one.
Speaker 2 (06:21):
They've had one of the oldest playing sides this season.
I think it's top four of average age. Finals is
done out of the question. They don't have a pick
until like pick thirty five in this year's draft. Do
we think that the next side that is going to
completely bottom out and rebuild? Are they going to be
forced into that or what? How do they approach this offseason?
Speaker 3 (06:42):
Oh, they have to. I think their windows done, their
Premiership windows done.
Speaker 4 (06:45):
Yeah, that's pretty clear unfortunately for them, And I think
you spoke about they've got a late pick for the
for the next draft.
Speaker 3 (06:51):
All bit with hear the draft class isn't as great
as the.
Speaker 4 (06:54):
Previously diluted with the academy picks with the academy prospects,
and look, it has to be done. They're gonna possibly
have to trade McKay jet some get some picks and
try and one something in the next draft or two.
Speaker 3 (07:10):
And you look at their defense as well. A lot
of their half backs are getting on.
Speaker 1 (07:15):
Yeah they're old.
Speaker 3 (07:16):
Yeah, Newman's mid thirties.
Speaker 4 (07:18):
It's got sat as well as early thirties McGovern who's
getting on a little bit dockety as well. Like they
don't have much footy left in them and a lot
of them get injured in the preseason anyways.
Speaker 3 (07:28):
Yep, they just need that something more, especially or half back.
Speaker 1 (07:32):
Yeah, now you here, all right, no worries add but
yeah the Blues. Unfortunately for the Blues, that's just it's
not a good season for them. It's just a better
bit of bottom out and what they looked really strong.
And as you saidlier, the young guys coming through are
very very exciting. All right, let's get into Friday night.
Everyone wants to talk about Friday Night at the SCG
Sydney versus the Western Bulldogs Sydney fourteen goals, twelve ninety six.
The Western Bulldogs get the job done sixteen goals, nine
(07:54):
one hundred and five. What a bloody game this was, Marcus,
Oh my god.
Speaker 4 (07:58):
For every Friday night game that I normally cover on
a Sunday, it feels like every single time I'm saying,
this could be the game of the why do we
give him the good game? Game of the year, And
it definitely was. But the Dog's triumph in Bonds celebration game.
He's two fiftieth, of course, But it all started a
pre game, before the sign was even blown. It was
(08:19):
little old Papley going to Darcy and make an absolute
full out of himself going on there.
Speaker 5 (08:25):
I think it's fair enough.
Speaker 4 (08:26):
I know it's a tactic, but the way the way
it played out when he got he basically got ragged.
Speaker 1 (08:30):
On by all the people to go towards Darcy. Why
he put this molest guy on.
Speaker 5 (08:36):
Because he's the one that he's the past. Yeah, he's
the past.
Speaker 1 (08:39):
I want to see Wizard Verse Papley in the fight.
That's probably smoking.
Speaker 3 (08:42):
Probably they both played.
Speaker 4 (08:45):
They both played fairly well, to be honest, but it
was Darcy who got the first and last laugh obviously
with the Dogs winning, but he got the first laugh
as well because in the first quarter he was unreal.
He was kicking him from everywhere. Kicked two goals early
on one from the boundary. He kicked three in that
was half, and he's just he just looks and he's
going to be some sort of player.
Speaker 1 (09:04):
Some of his players. He's like a midfielder that's two
hundred and ten centimeters, Like that goal from the boundary
is like bon esque. Obviously, Bunch your midfielder, and Sam
Dust is your big tall four. You could play him anywhere.
Speaker 3 (09:14):
So cliche, but not many players can do what he does.
And he's high.
Speaker 1 (09:18):
He's a unicorn. He's a unicorn.
Speaker 5 (09:19):
He's a unicorn.
Speaker 3 (09:20):
Absolutely.
Speaker 4 (09:20):
But it was Sydney who actually they really struggled to
hope with the tall forwards of the Dogs. Darcy kicked
a few obviously and had a great start to the game,
but Aaron Norton in that second quarter in particular, kicked
three goals and he was arguably, you know, one of
their most dangerous threats and presidence going forward, particularly on
the lead. It was good to see him, you know,
(09:42):
at least be accurate in front of goal as well,
which is a bit.
Speaker 1 (09:45):
Of confidence as well, which which is good against a
decent side.
Speaker 2 (09:48):
You could tell that Tom mccarton being laid out was
a massive impact of the Sydney team.
Speaker 5 (09:52):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (09:53):
Absolutely, And I just think as a neutral footy perspective,
the third quarter was the best quarter of the game.
Speaker 3 (09:59):
Was goal goal for and to end in that third quarter.
Speaker 4 (10:02):
There were six lead changes throughout the third term and
that was led largely the Sydney. Sydney come back obviously, yep,
they went golf a goal and they hit the front.
Actually when you thought they were out of the game,
it was like it was leaning towards it was going
to be out the game, particularly in the early in
that first half. But you saw Gordon you said he
particularly shine through, didn't you.
Speaker 2 (10:23):
It was fantastic. So he gets thirty for the game.
But that third quarter twelve disposals. I think he had
four interseet possessions as well. One thing I noticed with
Sydney they don't particularly have the best kicks, which you'll
touch on with the set shots, but Gordon's kicking.
Speaker 5 (10:36):
It's a class above his teammates.
Speaker 1 (10:39):
And we have goodon and Mills delivering the ball inside
fifty compared to previous weeks when they were struggling. It's
a huge difference.
Speaker 2 (10:47):
And there were a few players as well, and that
there were so many players in that quarterback so two
goal kickers stood.
Speaker 3 (10:52):
There was two two midfield goal kickers.
Speaker 4 (10:54):
Yes, one to highlight Heeney. Obviously he's a star player,
we know that. But his equal career high five all
you got them all before three quarter time as well,
and he had the influence on the ball as well.
We had twenty one disposals, I believe, and the Mini
Bon I know it was Bond celebration, but it was
Minibond who stole the headlines. He finished with twenty three disposals,
(11:18):
four goals. He's only nineteen years of age, and boys,
he was pick number forty five against forty five in
that twenty twenty three draft class.
Speaker 3 (11:31):
I'm going to read this. I'm going to read out.
Speaker 4 (11:32):
That draft class to you boys, just quickly, the top
ten and in hindsight, I want you to give me
where you would have picked up Fraser compared to the
rest of these players. This was hardly read one. This
is in order, by the way read Cobby mkircher, so
it's a bit small. Jeff Walter, Zane Drsman, Nick Watson,
Riley Sanders, Caleb Winsor, Dan Curtain, Ethan Reid, Nate Caddy,
(11:54):
and ten Choloros, Connor O'Sullivan in eleven and Logan Morris
was pick thirty one as well in that draft.
Speaker 5 (12:01):
Raises number one for mine right now.
Speaker 1 (12:03):
I was saying before the shot, I think Fraser's number one.
I thought in my head, I'm like, that's a big
call because you're obviously gonna I think Leo, you were
saying maybe in the future, maybe not get a number one,
But right now he's the best player.
Speaker 2 (12:14):
And I still think there's players in that top ten
like Caddie, like Connor.
Speaker 5 (12:17):
O Sulivan, like the Wizard, Harley Reid. These guys probably.
Speaker 2 (12:21):
Have bigger ceilings I think going forward, But right now
as it sits, it's Fraser one.
Speaker 5 (12:26):
Logan Morris too, But.
Speaker 4 (12:28):
He one hundred percent being that in that top five mark.
Even you look for future career top five, this draft
ten years from from now, we could still be saying
his number one. I didn't think he had four goals
in him.
Speaker 1 (12:39):
That's crazy. Can play and he was playing half back
at the start of the Year's awesome. He's superb can
he can damage anywhere around the ground. Just looks like
one of those players no matter where you put him,
he'll get the job done. You talked about when Sydney
needed people to stand up in the moment.
Speaker 3 (12:53):
They didn't.
Speaker 4 (12:54):
They weren't really there. It was four goals ten from
set shots. We talked about their inaccuracy.
Speaker 1 (13:00):
It was they were lucky to get.
Speaker 3 (13:01):
Away with it. Last week againstut Adelaide.
Speaker 4 (13:03):
They finished with seventeen behinds in that game, I believe,
and they finished year I know fourteen twelve still more,
but you compare that to the dog sixteen to nine
and four to ten from set set shots. Yeah, that's
where games are won kicking and they weren't there. But
I love the old school bit in the game, the fights,
the scrap in particular our man.
Speaker 1 (13:22):
Rory Lob, our Man Rory Lob and.
Speaker 4 (13:24):
Aaron Francis just going I think I think I think
it was a play from Aaron Francis just to target
him as.
Speaker 3 (13:32):
Maybe the last corner. Yeah, there was there was nibbles.
Speaker 4 (13:35):
All are the whole time throughout that game, and they
just went off at one hundred meters from the ball.
It was great to see. I want to see Love
Verse Francis, get him in the ring and the Love
the undercard. This the undercard is, but we all want
to see Papley. No, it's that guy and Lexi.
Speaker 3 (13:53):
Mary Love.
Speaker 1 (13:58):
Is great on the on the TikTok. I gotta start.
I got a few stats, but I gotta staff on
Rory Lobb. So Rory Love just to get back on track. Boys,
Rory Love has progressively gotten more marks in eight straight games,
so that's an AFL record. He's gone one mark, three, five, six, seven, eight, nine,
thirteen thirteen marks. Great effort and he's just progressively gotten
(14:20):
better with his marking every game.
Speaker 5 (14:21):
And that's never fourteen next week.
Speaker 1 (14:23):
So yeah, if you can have a look at the
markets to jump on fourteen plus marks, I don't know
the market, yeah, the markets. Anyway, that was clearly the
best game of the year, and I just want to
touch on this before we end. No game should be
played at the seg ever again until they fixed their
until they fix their grass or whoever's doing the groundkeeping.
Groundskeeper that was so dangerous. That was players knees popping out.
(14:46):
There was those grassy mud everywhere. Just they almost did
not want they could have been.
Speaker 2 (14:52):
It was just it wasn't a great spectacle on TV
with players slipping over. It was the only blight on
what was a fan fantastic game, probably my for mine,
the best game of the year.
Speaker 1 (15:02):
Maybe just get synthetic grass, some synthetic grassin AFL. All right,
let's get into Saturday at the MCG. Another awesome game.
Gold Coast fifteen goals fourteen one hundred and four, Melbourne
twelve goals thirteen eighty five. Now, lads, so much happened
in this game. If you you turn off in the
first quarter because it was thirty seven to one, you're like, oh,
(15:23):
this game is over. And I think a few of
the commentators were like, oh, this is going to be up.
But the one hundred point win, Melbourne storm back at
one point it was fifty to fifteen. They got it
back to three goals obviously only ended up nineteen points.
Just a lot happened. I'm just going to go through
some of the stat lines because it was very exciting.
You got Matt Rowe just signed a contract. I think
Leo you said a bit of a watch on him
during the week.
Speaker 2 (15:41):
Yeah, well, it's similar with Chad Warner after he signed
his deal started to play some great football.
Speaker 1 (15:46):
And with row yeah, he was awesome. So just a
bit of a basketball reference. I think he got a
triple double here in this one, lads. He got twenty
four disposals, twelve clearance of eleven tackles. He was doing
absolutely everything. I think he had two goals seats on
his left foot as well, just showing these are dexterity.
I don't think that's the right way, but definitely not
will take it. Sounded cool, but yeah, a lot was happening.
(16:07):
You got inside fifty tackling pressure from both sides. Just
had so many good, good tackles that set up goals.
You got Ben King, he was awesome with the mark
similar to Sam Darcy that no one can reach him
when he gets up there. Three goals too against Stephen May.
Stephen May, I don't know. Stephen May has been copping
a few bass from players that lately. Lads.
Speaker 4 (16:25):
Yes, but would you say the move to drop Drake
Leaver worked?
Speaker 5 (16:30):
No?
Speaker 1 (16:31):
No, because they looked a little bit undersized and there
wasn't enough. Yes, spoils being done by Melbourne. They did
still play pretty well because they got it back to
nine ten points. And I think it was more than
midfield that sort of struggled against the Sun's midfield. But
they probably didn't need Jake Levan. Maybe it was a
statement from the coach. What do you guys think?
Speaker 5 (16:48):
Yeah, I think good.
Speaker 2 (16:48):
He's probably fed up and I mean the fourteenth on
the ladder he's been dropping freege, dropping Van Roy and
here and there, So it was definitely a statement.
Speaker 1 (16:56):
Yeah, not fair call the one guy I want to
talk about who just randomly pops up and turned into
the goat every now and then. Jake the Snake Melkhake
Malcham had five goals six. He got had the best
game in our lifetime, five goal six. He's a medium
sized forward. He well he has six inside fifty marks,
three inside fifty tackles, eighteen disposals, five goal six. I
(17:16):
love it says twelve scoring moments, but eleven of them
were shot and half of them are points, half of
them on points. It's like that's he was so good.
Speaker 5 (17:25):
It was cramping in the third course. He was cooked.
And mac Andy. What are you doing is his direct opponent?
You think after like he's on what three goals for you?
Bere Like I've actually got to like switch on.
Speaker 1 (17:36):
Five goal six.
Speaker 5 (17:38):
That's unbelievable.
Speaker 4 (17:39):
I will still only remember him for kicking the game
winner against Geelong.
Speaker 1 (17:42):
When we were at the Bombers.
Speaker 3 (17:44):
Yeah, when he was at the Bombs.
Speaker 1 (17:45):
He had some random, really good games. But I'm not
gonna say he cost him. But it just sums up
Melbourne this year where they miss a lot of shots.
So he kicked two from the boundary, kicked two from
outside fifty and then he missed one some easy ones,
so it sort of sums up Melbourne how they're going
this season. We had a few collisions he had poor
Harvey Langford. I don't know if you guys saw this.
He copped an elbow to the head from the umpire.
(18:05):
This is what I meant if there is a lot
going on, there's just so many funny things that happened.
Speaker 3 (18:08):
Good good always get into it more.
Speaker 1 (18:11):
Just just get involved in I don't know that jump.
He tried to help the team. You have to whistle
on your fist to your avingis knuckle duster over there
Clary as well. I don't know if he saw him
as well. He looked like Boldemore. He had the tape
going around his head. That was very funny.
Speaker 5 (18:27):
That was before he had the tape on.
Speaker 1 (18:29):
Because his career best games he had twenty five disposals,
three goals. I absolutely love what he did there, even
assist without his boot on another weird things happening in
this game. And then I just want to look at
the Rock match up. Gorney had a few touches and
a goal. But Wwitzy has had a career resurgence this year.
He was in and out of the side a bit
last year, got a few injuries. He had more hit
outs and four more clearances than Gorney and from he's
getting a bit older now, but he's still got it
(18:49):
a fan.
Speaker 5 (18:49):
He's an underrated player is probably his old career.
Speaker 1 (18:51):
He's a little bit underappreciated and he continues the year
of the Rocks.
Speaker 4 (18:55):
Is that is that a determent to Goldcurst? Possibly they
might They might lose then who believe he is also
out of contract? Yes, then Moyl could do a job
at a few clubs. JA leaves get him do possibly.
Oh anyway, I'm gonna wrap this one up.
Speaker 1 (19:09):
Soun's just lifted or whenever the D's were coming back,
the D's miss miss crucial crucial chances, as I mentioned before,
and that's that's probably cost them the game. But Gold
Coast were too good at home?
Speaker 2 (19:18):
All right?
Speaker 1 (19:19):
Oh no? Saturday at Utahs University, Oh no. Hawthorne twenty
three goals twelve is that right? One hundred and fifty points,
North Malbourne nine goals eleven sixty five?
Speaker 5 (19:32):
Good?
Speaker 1 (19:32):
Oh no, don't say good boy? Jeez? So do you
want to reference what's going on between me and Leah?
Speaker 5 (19:37):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (19:38):
Well, how could we forget? There was a bet between
the two boys. Leo obviously the Hawks fair two men, Liam.
Speaker 1 (19:44):
The Melbourne fan, and we were doing it at the
lawn just to make life a little bit easier for
this man was complaining about the line. And then they
went by eighty five.
Speaker 3 (19:53):
The lawn was twenty nine and a half.
Speaker 4 (19:55):
Hawthorne obviously eclips that and did their best of Cholnascurungi
and seventy points last season when they.
Speaker 1 (20:00):
But Leo, you're going to make him. You're you're going
to make Liam your slave? For what are you going
to make him do.
Speaker 3 (20:08):
What are you going to make him do? I want
to see people.
Speaker 2 (20:11):
I don't know if I can say on a PG
podcast I'm going to make him do give costume.
Speaker 5 (20:16):
Maybe let's just say, let's just say rubbing of the
feet will happen, giving me a foot message.
Speaker 3 (20:24):
We did establish on on Thursday show that he.
Speaker 2 (20:28):
Was a big feat manly only when stats guys involved.
Speaker 1 (20:32):
I'm nervous anyway, what happened in the game.
Speaker 4 (20:35):
Back to the game, it was the Hawks more than
Let's be honest, it was a bit of a come
down after beating Carlton the week prior, the weekend prior.
Speaker 3 (20:44):
But they've made it no.
Speaker 1 (20:45):
One consecutive wins that Utahs before the Hawks with It's
the Fortress.
Speaker 3 (20:49):
We called it earlier in the.
Speaker 4 (20:51):
Week's seventy win rate there. So it's excellent record for
the Hawks at that stadium. And it's now seven in
a row against the Kangaroos. So the good record there,
just the one to tick over. But annoyingly for Liam,
it was North's biggest loss of the season. But did
it did it feel like the biggest loss of the
(21:13):
season if that makes sense, like it was the worst performance.
Speaker 1 (21:16):
I don't know if it was the worst performance the
Carlton first time we played, it was the worst performance.
Speaker 6 (21:20):
But I thought this star was over. We've had two
good months. We've looked so good. Our defense looked good,
our offenses look good. I meant like, yeah, we can
get clearances, and it went all out the window. I've
sort of, I reckon, I've lost my vote of just
yelling at the TV on the weekend. Nothing absolutely, I
don't get angry very often, but the RUMs were just
firing me up, and just the defense really struggled to
keep up at the pace of the Hawksley and you
(21:42):
called it on the first station.
Speaker 2 (21:43):
Well, the defense has had two months have just been
awesome for change, and you get McDonald just wasn't up.
We talked about him maybe having another good game, and
the Wizard just ran all over him.
Speaker 5 (21:55):
What a goal. By the way that it was a
very good girl, very very I love that man.
Speaker 2 (22:00):
I never thought I'd be in love, firstly with a man,
but also with someone that's small, someone who looks like
a Taggy's documentary.
Speaker 3 (22:14):
Forget about to forget about the smalls. It was all
it was all the tools.
Speaker 4 (22:18):
In this game as well, kicking bags left right and
center a lark. He kicked five, but it was we
want to finish obviously on the Hawks tour forwards, especially
Jack Gunston in the twilight of his career guns career
high seven goals, crazy.
Speaker 3 (22:33):
He was super.
Speaker 5 (22:34):
Toby Pink he was, He's been so good and he.
Speaker 3 (22:38):
Wasn't at the mc G though, so.
Speaker 1 (22:41):
We should play every game at the G, but also
with partner in crime at Marbil Troll he was.
Speaker 3 (22:46):
Honestly, he was at his best game like Kerry equal
career high five goals for Marbi or Troll. But it
was his chase down on sack Fisher in the corner
of that and then he kicked it from fifty five.
Speaker 4 (23:03):
He was superb super But unfortunately post game it's all
going to be a little bit of tall post game
about about this one as well, because George Wardlaw again
suffering another concussion. He missed a Lord of Footy last
season due to concussion. Are we just going to lose
another young star of the game.
Speaker 1 (23:19):
Oh, I don't say that, but we had Lee Adams
for North a long time ago that I had to
have the same sort of thing, Ben Jacobs, the same thing.
Speaker 3 (23:27):
I know.
Speaker 1 (23:27):
This one was a bit more. It was a bit
more innocuous. It wasn't like he was going really hard,
but a lot of the times he's just I don't know,
he needs to fix his stack there.
Speaker 5 (23:34):
I was worrying that it's innocuous.
Speaker 2 (23:36):
Yeah, I think it looked like it was more precautionary.
Yeh anything, but you just yeah, it's not good to
see because he's such a talented young player.
Speaker 1 (23:46):
Yep.
Speaker 4 (23:46):
I agree, he's going to He's going to be a
star if he plays for years to come. We want
to see those players, and especially I love the way
he plays hard. He's a hard, honest player.
Speaker 1 (23:55):
He's a hard man. Like Micaus always like to say,
all right, Leo wins the bets, I'm gonna have to
be his assist during the week, and let's have a
break with stockad a Leo quick question. Do you know
what the ASEX means?
Speaker 5 (24:05):
Uh? Do you mean AFLX?
Speaker 1 (24:07):
No?
Speaker 5 (24:07):
Mate?
Speaker 1 (24:07):
The AX the Australian Stock Exchange. Oh man, I'm absolutely
clueless for that stuff. Well, lucky for you, stock It
is a free website that gives you everything you need
to know about punting stocks on the AX.
Speaker 5 (24:18):
Damn, that sounds pretty good. Where do I check them out.
Speaker 1 (24:21):
Check it out via stockare dot com, dot you, and
it's even easy for your little pe brain to understand.
Damn Saturday night at Marble Stadium, he's my next one. Collingwood,
West Coast. Collingwood at thirteen goals ten eighty eight. West
Coast with a good fight here eight goals eleven fifty nine.
Speaker 5 (24:38):
LEO.
Speaker 1 (24:38):
This was actually a really good game.
Speaker 2 (24:39):
Yeah, it was not bad, and West Coast brought the
pressure early in this one.
Speaker 5 (24:42):
They forced the Pies to overhandle a little bit.
Speaker 2 (24:45):
I think they may have been a little bit Nickdikos focus,
but as the game went on, the Pies became more
and more classy and really flicked into gear. What I
will say is every time that the Pies kicked away,
except for that last quarter, it was a credit to
the Eagles and how they were able to come back
into it and actually let at halftime so started the
second quarter.
Speaker 4 (25:06):
Look, I'm going to give you a shot out lead
because you did mention in the show on Thursday that
the Pies at Marvel they've always allowed teams to be
in the game at three quarters time, and the case
was again with the Eagles, who played particularly well.
Speaker 5 (25:19):
I love you, Thank you the Daycai. Collingwood fans love them.
They were brilliant.
Speaker 2 (25:24):
Nick was probably best on for mine. His second half
was just simply outstanding. He was everywhere, really.
Speaker 5 (25:30):
Lifted for the Pies. But I want to give you
a shout out now, love no, don't touch you, touch you.
Speaker 1 (25:38):
You were the.
Speaker 2 (25:38):
Closest to predicting Darcy Cameron's stat line as we talked
about on the previous show.
Speaker 5 (25:43):
He was great.
Speaker 2 (25:43):
He ended with nineteen disposals and nine clearances. I think
you said twenty and handful of clearances. You said twenty
five and two, so you were miles off. Yeah, bloody woman.
Speaker 5 (25:55):
But what about this kid for Collingwood.
Speaker 2 (25:58):
Everyone's going to be talking about this kid's superstar of
the competition.
Speaker 5 (26:01):
I think this spy could be a what do you reckon?
It's I reckon.
Speaker 1 (26:10):
I have a start on the young man. We've got pendals.
He's now got one hundred games of twenty five plus
disposals and a goal at least one goal with one
hundred games across his career is pretty incredible. The best
all time is Gary Ablett Junior with one hundred and
thirty six and I just had a quick look. Danger
and Pendles are both on one hundred for that stat line,
So who I reckon?
Speaker 5 (26:29):
Danger?
Speaker 1 (26:30):
Might pick him because Danger kicks more goals, but Pendals
gets more disposals.
Speaker 5 (26:34):
So yeah, I pod and my play for long.
Speaker 4 (26:38):
Though.
Speaker 1 (26:38):
Did you see he's our lightsaber celebration?
Speaker 5 (26:40):
I did that.
Speaker 1 (26:41):
He's got every time he kicks a goal. He's on
a celebration for his kids and kicking more goals because
of it. So maybe should have thirty seven years young.
Speaker 5 (26:47):
Yeah, we love him. I do want to give some
love though. For a few Eagles players, leam Baker was
their best player.
Speaker 2 (26:53):
He rebounded all day, thirty five disposals, ten intercept possessions.
I want to pick up he's turned out to be
for them. Tom McCarthy, Oh, he backed it up twenty
nine disposals. What his debut was thirty one late run
for the Brown look sure mate stuff. Yeah, I don't
know if he's old enough. Actually, oh I might be
(27:14):
too old. Brady Hoff he's developing nicely, big, good, smooth
moving midfielder. He had a goal, twenty seven disposal, six clearances,
And I want to give one last shout out to
Harry Edwards.
Speaker 5 (27:24):
He was really good. He ended with nine intercept possessions.
So Eagles showed some fight, but Colin were just way
too good.
Speaker 1 (27:30):
Yeah, the Eagles were leading a halftime. I was hoping
for the best, biggest upset ever. But the Piers they
just know to win. And we did talk about it
on the Thursday that they've had a lot of close,
closer games at Marvin. It's what happened again. So they'll
be happy to go back to the MCG now, I
think because Marsa I always play the best of mine.
They got the job done, all right, Sunday Funday, MCG.
Speaker 3 (27:49):
Here we go.
Speaker 1 (27:50):
Richmond versus Adelaide. Richmond eight goals, six fifty four, Adelaide
eighteen goals fourteen, one hundred and twenty two. Now, I
just want to touch on this before the game, yeah, Richmond,
which I to get in Adelaide's head a little bit
before the game. They were playing the twenty seventeen Grand
Final highlights, So what about it?
Speaker 5 (28:06):
They should have showed this.
Speaker 1 (28:06):
Power sid I reckon they would have showed the power
stands because that would get into the Adelaide heads.
Speaker 5 (28:11):
But obviously we'll get into text for sure.
Speaker 3 (28:14):
Was his idea would it would?
Speaker 1 (28:16):
We've got Dan Curtain. We've got to talk about him
finally announcing himself on the big stage.
Speaker 5 (28:20):
I think of a curtain raiser.
Speaker 1 (28:21):
Oh my god, okay, dad, career invest disposals, twenty six
and two goals. He was, He was everywhere. I feel
like you're a big Dan Curtain fan.
Speaker 5 (28:30):
Yeah, I'm bigg in on him.
Speaker 2 (28:31):
He's playing the wing role really nicely, but he's got
scope to be a pure midfielder.
Speaker 4 (28:36):
When I want to see him play, I'll open the
curtains if I want to see him play.
Speaker 3 (28:38):
What's a beautiful player?
Speaker 1 (28:39):
What are you drinking on this?
Speaker 5 (28:41):
Open the curtains and another player opened the curtains.
Speaker 1 (28:43):
Four yes, Josh Warrel. Warrel has been really good this season.
I think he's been underrated. You've topped up the defense
as well. Twenty four disposals, nine intercepts. He was awesome.
You've got to talk about the thriller Phil Thorpe he had.
He was awesome again. Monstering marks. He just he just
bugs through packs to take those big marks. Five goals,
sixteen disposals. I've liked he sort of lifted his game
this year to even build this build the disupposals. Yeah,
(29:04):
I couldn't get that one out, but fifteen plus in
a game for the big forward is awesome.
Speaker 2 (29:08):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (29:08):
I think particularly in the second half, they helped him
a lot. They improved a lot Adelaide with their delivery
inside fifty that's where his best start. I think early
in that first half in particular, they were just kicking
the ball way too low.
Speaker 3 (29:19):
There was two.
Speaker 4 (29:19):
Turnovers, inter set possessions, a bit rushed and it just
didn't really play into the likes of thrill his hands.
But in the second half they cleaned it up and look,
all you got to do is just put it on
his head with a bit of there and.
Speaker 1 (29:29):
He's so good. Yeah, he has powers in those in
that beard. It's beautiful. We got goals from elsewhere though
as well there which was a bit of a surprise,
not the usual big forwards for Adelaide.
Speaker 2 (29:38):
Max Micolaney, Oh, I know he had this in his
Like I said, he's normally his lockdown defender does a
great job at that.
Speaker 5 (29:44):
But they swung him forward.
Speaker 2 (29:45):
I think it was a little bit of a negating
role on Boston, which was a great matchup, great move
by Nicks yep, I thought it's credit there three goals,
so that proves that he's got upside as well.
Speaker 5 (29:54):
He's got the.
Speaker 1 (29:55):
Build for either end of the ground.
Speaker 3 (29:57):
One career goal before this game, slots three three at work.
Speaker 5 (30:01):
Yeah, now that the fowards how it's done.
Speaker 1 (30:03):
He absolutely was for the Tigers weird one. They led
the clearances even though they got smashed in the game,
but they led the clearances Crows when they got the
ball with just way more clinically go Dawson just classy.
Rankin was pretty good as well, but also for the Tigers.
I talked him up on the Thursday show. Just a
guy that just continuing great. Four Sam Banks twenty four
disposed is a really nice goal.
Speaker 3 (30:21):
Just there's a few guys.
Speaker 1 (30:22):
From Richmond I think that aren't getting the port its
or things like that because they're down the bottom the ladder.
But he's having a great season. The last year is
probably eight weeks or so.
Speaker 5 (30:29):
Yeah, you feel like they've got players here and there.
Speaker 2 (30:31):
They're inconsistent, but putting the piece together will eventually come
and that's when they'll they'll go back up the ladder.
Speaker 1 (30:38):
Fair Core now adds, I think I'm more fired up
about this than North Melbourne. This is outrageous. This is
a dog act. It was a swinging arm. You can't
be doing this Tom Lynch. He had five freeze against
just two disposals. And when he gets a little bit
angry when he's not playing well, he likes to throw
his arms. He I was calling it an almost king hit.
Speaker 5 (30:57):
Maybe that's a bit hard connected lam like that.
Speaker 3 (31:00):
It was Ken Hinckley doing the.
Speaker 1 (31:05):
I thought I loved you Ken hinkleyould wouldn't have a swinging
arm anyway. He did a swing Butts was okay that
he actually punched Butts sort of in the back of it.
Speaker 5 (31:13):
It didn't fully he didn't fully connect.
Speaker 1 (31:15):
But I don't know what's going on with Tom Lynch.
How many weeks do we think for that. I think
that should be the most we've had in a long time.
I don't care.
Speaker 5 (31:21):
He didn't get.
Speaker 3 (31:22):
Him nothing, but he tried to knock his head off.
He did clip him a little bit.
Speaker 5 (31:27):
I think they're going to give him a week, to
be honest.
Speaker 1 (31:31):
It's such a bad look for the game.
Speaker 5 (31:33):
At least four I reckon the balls.
Speaker 1 (31:34):
Well, he just teaching a lesson. He's He's got suspended
so many times.
Speaker 4 (31:40):
Like three weeks, a dog act three four weeks.
Speaker 1 (31:43):
Like if he connected, he could genuinely have done harm,
not just like a concussion. It could have been worse.
Speaker 5 (31:47):
So that's but you.
Speaker 2 (31:48):
Can't suspend people on Yeah, like I may have caught
like you know what I mean.
Speaker 1 (31:54):
Like this one you can in my opinion, this one.
Speaker 3 (31:58):
No, not even that.
Speaker 1 (31:59):
Just don't don't punch people. It's pretty easy.
Speaker 5 (32:02):
You're pretty easy. What was that? Don't worry?
Speaker 1 (32:05):
Okay, that's all right. The Tigers weren't God enough adelaide
a big score, one hundred and twenty two. They got
the job done there. Sunday up the stadium is the
last game of the round. Freeman or Saint Kilda. Freeman
or eleven goals fifteen eighty one hold On against the
Saints nine goals fifteen sixty nine. Marcus, this was actually
another really good game.
Speaker 4 (32:22):
It was we all thought that this wasn't going to
be a great game to close off the Sunday Sunday action,
but it really was. It was good game of foot
yell lock to start by praising Saint Kilda some of
their players because they were they really stood up today.
They played higher than expected. In particular Max Hall, he
was superb until product.
Speaker 3 (32:41):
Was he was very good.
Speaker 1 (32:43):
Naswangon and Miller was always excellent. He was just running, yeah, everywhere, everywhere.
He was at both ends of the ground. He was awesome.
Speaker 4 (32:49):
And the Viking, oh so he had the most spoils
ever by a saint with fourteen.
Speaker 3 (32:55):
So Spud would be proud of that.
Speaker 1 (32:57):
Once he would we go a bang like.
Speaker 5 (32:59):
I'm for Spud from three two one three to two
one bag.
Speaker 1 (33:03):
I know he wouldn't do it.
Speaker 3 (33:05):
The camera would have been on me too. I can't
tamn it anyways.
Speaker 4 (33:09):
But I feel like in this game, like free men
will Look, they got the win, great win, but I
feel like there's more question marks than than answers, even
though they won six.
Speaker 3 (33:17):
On the trot.
Speaker 4 (33:17):
But like they almost dropped this game and it was
a game, look they normally dropped, but they did come
away with the win.
Speaker 3 (33:23):
They just wanted it more.
Speaker 4 (33:24):
You could tell on that last quarter going a bit
harder and the players stood up when they needed to.
I think sant Kilda in the first three quarters kept
bracial and so wrong, virtually non existent. In the first
three quarters. Bracehaw had eighteen at three quarter times. Song
I only had ten, but in the last quarter they
those two in particular stood up with seven and eight respectively.
(33:45):
Jordan Clarke was superb, shouting him out thirty one disposals
and a goal, a few holding the balls, he won
a few three kicks.
Speaker 3 (33:53):
He was great.
Speaker 4 (33:54):
But it was an absolute arm wrestle of this game.
Wine lead changes eight coming in the first three quarters.
Obviously Freemantle Jack Higgins kicked the first goal of the
last quarter, but Freeman w just kept coming late. And
it was the tall the tall people who got it done.
All people, the toll was Tracy Darcy Jackson, the goal kickers, like, yeah,
(34:15):
they were the ones who really stood up.
Speaker 3 (34:17):
But the rock battle was so interesting. It was Darcy.
He was superb.
Speaker 1 (34:22):
He was a nasty turn back the clock Shrek, they
gone straight down there. I'm pretty sure. Yeah, I've heard
I've heard people called that it's a bit harsh. He's
not that bad like Shrek. But yeah, well, Darcy Jackson
actually actually won the hit out count fifty seven to
twenty six in favor of Freeman, But it was so
killed who dominated around the ball in the clearance, particularly
(34:43):
in those first three quarters. They won the clearance count
by fifteen thirty one to forty six. Marshall's goal straight
out the air Jackie Chan style, kicking it out of me. Yeah,
not many players can do that.
Speaker 5 (34:56):
Of the year.
Speaker 3 (34:57):
I wouldn't know.
Speaker 1 (34:58):
I want to go the round. I wasn't even the
best goal.
Speaker 3 (35:01):
Wasn't the goal around?
Speaker 5 (35:02):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (35:02):
No, Watson's goal, Darcy's goal and.
Speaker 5 (35:05):
Darcy were both better goals.
Speaker 3 (35:08):
It's pretty passionate about this, yes, because.
Speaker 5 (35:10):
This man is an idiot. The man that I'm looking
across from Ryan now is and more.
Speaker 1 (35:16):
He doesn't believe that. He doesn't believe that.
Speaker 4 (35:18):
Well, they did show that having Darcy in the Rock
and Jackson up forward really really still does work. So
though it was a great, it was a great You
probably get more around to Jackson playing him in the Rock.
He's the number one ranked player over the last six matches.
I believe in the competition Luke Jackson.
Speaker 3 (35:36):
But yeah, it was.
Speaker 4 (35:38):
The Rock Battle was the interesting one and one that
I wanted to keep an eye on because Darcy was superb.
Marshall was brilliant, but free meant done well.
Speaker 2 (35:46):
We talked about the Rock Battle on the previous show.
I was on team Jackson, you were on team Marshall stats.
Speaker 5 (35:51):
Yeah, I think you.
Speaker 1 (35:52):
Take the chocolates out of that. Yes, I did say
I'm the idiot. I did say that Jackson would flop.
He didn't have his best terms of rock, but he
wasn't too bad. He's still Jackson kicked two goals. Yeah,
he was still he was still very influential. Yeah, no
one said though, No one said, we didn't even think
he was going to play.
Speaker 3 (36:08):
Maybe on the winner. So yeah, Freemantle they escape and
make it six on the drop.
Speaker 1 (36:12):
Six in a row. The Saints put up a good fight.
I feel for the Saints fans. They're just they got
so close. Even against the Pies as well, they were
pretty good. But I need to look up four though
for Yeah, lots of good young guys, as Leo has
talked about all season. All right, the games are done,
let's get into the ladder. Check now, Pies fans right
at the top. They will be up and about their
two and a half games clear on top of the ladder.
No one's catching them, right, lads, No one's catching the Pies.
Speaker 5 (36:33):
No, they got the mine premier.
Speaker 1 (36:35):
They just find ways to win. They were It wasn't
even the most convincing whim, but they just keep finding
ways to win. We're gonna We still have a clear
gap between the top nine and the bottom nine, so
it's still a good race for the finals, but it's
starting to just yeah, just that top nine because after
that there's some teams really dropping off.
Speaker 5 (36:49):
It's good.
Speaker 3 (36:50):
Sorry, can we have a finals for the bottom line?
Speaker 1 (36:52):
It's just petty finals now. We don't do that. We
don't do that. We've got Carlton, they're clinging onto life,
and eleventh they just how are they eleventh? I think
carld events don't even think there should be eleventh. And
then you've got the bottom four Saints North, Tigers, Eagles
still the bottom four North. Possibly could still jump a
few teams there, but in terms of just the two
(37:14):
point gap there, so pretty interesting one and that's the
ladder check. Let's get into the tipping results. That's up next.
All clear seven we got seven tips or we got
them all right, and Leo got six tips. Sydney was
difficult was that.
Speaker 2 (37:30):
Was I'm behind in tipping, so I want to catch up,
and that was the game that I thought was like
most likely have been upset.
Speaker 1 (37:38):
Well, we don't want about catching up. We want just
tip the winner.
Speaker 5 (37:41):
No, I want to win tipping. We are playing it strategically.
Speaker 1 (37:45):
Okay, well it didn't work.
Speaker 3 (37:47):
Six tips.
Speaker 1 (37:49):
Seven, Yeah, let's go, man, let's go, let's go. All right,
a lock results Leo's having This isn't This is not
a good show for Leo. So Leo will start with you.
I think our lots you. I'll touch on them in
a second.
Speaker 2 (37:59):
What have Well, first I thought Marcus did a fart
because it stinks over here. But it's just my absolute
horrendous call cogenty two plus.
Speaker 5 (38:08):
He killing me foggedy go to.
Speaker 1 (38:10):
We had fill in the comments say that he molted
up our locks. So you've cost him.
Speaker 2 (38:15):
Multi fill phil transfer, Yeah, three bucks whatever you put
on it.
Speaker 1 (38:22):
So, yeah, Leo, that was a bit siff. When they
kick a hundred and twenty two points and he hasn't
got two goals. Oh don't worry, I'm over it next week.
Marcus dares the camera fifteen plus. Good call, absolute absolute lock.
And then I've gone the Sons to score ninety plus,
which I was a little bit worried about. But they
got one hundred and four points, so I.
Speaker 5 (38:37):
Had that like pretty early. And then they kind of
like shut up shop a bit.
Speaker 1 (38:40):
Yeah, the second and third quarter when Melbourne were coming back,
I'm like, oh, that ninety plus is looking a bit dicey,
but they got one hundred four points. They kicked goals
for fun. Big Call results are the same as usual
Big x's. I had Sam pal Pepper to get fifteen
and three goals. He got fifteen sixteen but no goals,
so that was a bit bad Leona. Yeah, the camera.
