Thursday Night footy at the Adelaide Oval. Now, Leo, this
is your one. We We're gonna start with Port Adelaide
sixteen goals, forty one hundred and ten. Carlton eight goals,
twelve sixty. They've done it again, Carlton.

But I want to start on Port and give them
their flowers and we'll get to the disaster that is
George Artist. Lads, he's officially here. I feel like a
few weeks ago, you boys, when he kicked seven against Melbourne,
you were like, oh, I don't know if he had
that in.

Has he got the consistency? That's what I was asking.

He's got the consistency. Five goals is great. I love that.
That is a great output.

But what I really love from Georgia Yard is is
he's so good at identifying where the dangerous space is.
He knows how to get off his man and then
push into that space. And the Port mids they just
trust him to do that every time.

The usual stars for Port they were just they were awesome.
Chef's kiss, they were Chef's kiss. You got Rosie doing
his thing. But as he shook the tag, didn't he

the full of Chincott's. Chincotter went to the bench as
he was tagging him. They both sort of looked like
they were going to the bench, and then but it
goes I'm gonna double back. I didn't think he had
that much brain power Butters, but he did really want
us to shake the tag there, I think more and
then Carlton had to waste a sub so fair play, Yeah.

Fair play and another player who was really good Miles.
So he did a great job on Crips. He limited Crips,
but twenty five disposals and two goals himself. I actually
want to ask a question on this one. Port Adelaide
have been it's all about keeping Butters this offseason and
they need to that's obvious. But Bergman is also out
of contract. How important is Miles Bergman becoming to this

team that they just have to sign him to that
same level that they have to sign Butters.

And I think it's very important.
Speaker 4 (03:24):
Ollie Warren's going to be retiring, You've got Travis Boke
going to be retiring as well. These are the players
that you need to keep around the club. And he's
just an excellent role player. You all on the weekend
what he did with Crips, and he can influence the
game himself.

Yeah, And I think we talked up obviously Harnt Francis,
Rosie Butters and we're like, where's that next sort of
level of player, and he is probably that other than
Georgia Ye, Bergman would probably ran out the top five,
which we didn't know who was in that top five
at the start of the season, so you have to
get his signature otherwise they're going to be relying on
those guys again next season.

If they do lose Bergman, that's massive for them. I
just want to end on port just a few quick
shout outs. Darcy van Jones never lights up the statue,
but he's so reliable, always does the right thing.

Travis Boke get him in all Australian rigman. Travis Boke.

He was so clean, he didn't make one mistake. And
the youngsters of Richard's, Hugh Jackson and Lyddy, they all
brought some energy and their work rate was exceptional. Now
we get to color, we get to the grim stuff.

This was ugly. This was really ugly to watch.

The skill errors were prevalent. The lack of fight in
play was prevalent. They didn't mind a few fights outside
of play stupid, But.

It was their mentality, their effort, their lack of attention
to detail, their care for the detail, that was very,
very poor. And I don't think we've seen that from
them this year. We've seen the skill erarors, we've seen
other stuff. We haven't seen that. So that was the
major sign for me that I'm like, oh boy, this
is this is really bad. It was stuff like not

picking up the ball, you know, not kicking over the
man on the mark, not being able to stick with opponents,
getting burnt by blokes like Richard who are prepared.

To run, prepared to put in the hard yards.

And you have Patrick Cripps come out and defending Voss, which, yeah,
you've got to do that as your captain of your club.
Speaker 5 (05:15):
I thought he spoke really it was either.

Yeah, they got someone inside of the club did it,
but he came out and fair enough to defend him.
He had to do it, and he spoke really well,
this isn't an attack on Crips but and nor really
is it, Voss. But it was just for me that
the way they played it was like they were waving
the flag. It was like they were not playing for
the coach with what I sort of mentioned those reasons.

So is anyone on this panel VOSSI in post this
season or even this season.

Absolutely not.

I think the worst thing about that though, is you
could see not to this extent, but you could see
that sort of result coming yeap, especially playing Kuno arguably underdone,
were doing ugably underdone, and off the back of losing
to North Melbourne as well, you can see it coming.
So yeah, I think there needs to be changed.
Speaker 1 (06:09):
Yeah, I'm vossy out. I don't think it's all on
him because, as you said later, the skill errors were there,
but he's got to go. They need to change, They
need to change Carlton.
Speaker 2 (06:16):
Well, they've got a lot of issues and I just
want to end on this last question.

The Blues. They have had one.
Speaker 2 (06:21):
They've had one of the oldest playing sides this season.
I think it's top four of average age. Finals is
done out of the question. They don't have a pick
until like pick thirty five in this year's draft. Do
we think that the next side that is going to
completely bottom out and rebuild? Are they going to be
forced into that or what? How do they approach this offseason?
Speaker 3 (06:42):
Oh, they have to. I think their windows done, their
Premiership windows done.
Speaker 4 (06:45):
Yeah, that's pretty clear unfortunately for them, And I think
you spoke about they've got a late pick for the
for the next draft.
Speaker 3 (06:51):
All bit with hear the draft class isn't as great
as the.

Previously diluted with the academy picks with the academy prospects,
and look, it has to be done. They're gonna possibly
have to trade McKay jet some get some picks and
try and one something in the next draft or two.

And you look at their defense as well. A lot
of their half backs are getting on.

Yeah they're old.

don't have much footy left in them and a lot

yeah the Blues. Unfortunately for the Blues, that's just it's
not a good season for them. It's just a better

Everyone wants to talk about Friday Night at the SCG
Sydney versus the Western Bulldogs Sydney fourteen goals, twelve ninety six.
The Western Bulldogs get the job done sixteen goals, nine

one hundred and five. What a bloody game this was, Marcus,

For every Friday night game that I normally cover on
a Sunday, it feels like every single time I'm saying,
this could be the game of the why do we
give him the good game? Game of the year, And
it definitely was. But the Dog's triumph in Bonds celebration game.
He's two fiftieth, of course, But it all started a
pre game, before the sign was even blown. It was

They both played fairly well, to be honest, but it
was Darcy who got the first and last laugh obviously
with the Dogs winning, but he got the first laugh
as well because in the first quarter he was unreal.
He was kicking him from everywhere. Kicked two goals early
on one from the boundary. He kicked three in that
was half, and he's just he just looks and he's
going to be some sort of player.
Speaker 1 (09:04):
Some of his players. He's like a midfielder that's two
hundred and ten centimeters, Like that goal from the boundary
is like bon esque. Obviously, Bunch your midfielder, and Sam
Dust is your big tall four. You could play him anywhere.
Speaker 3 (09:14):
So cliche, but not many players can do what he does.
And he's high.
Speaker 1 (09:18):

But it was Sydney who actually they really struggled to
hope with the tall forwards of the Dogs. Darcy kicked
a few obviously and had a great start to the game,
but Aaron Norton in that second quarter in particular, kicked
three goals and he was arguably, you know, one of
their most dangerous threats and presidence going forward, particularly on
the lead. It was good to see him, you know,

at least be accurate in front of goal as well,
which is a bit.

Of confidence as well, which which is good against a
decent side.
Speaker 2 (09:48):
You could tell that Tom mccarton being laid out was
a massive impact of the Sydney team.

Absolutely, And I just think as a neutral footy perspective,
the third quarter was the best quarter of the game.

Was goal goal for and to end in that third quarter.

There were six lead changes throughout the third term and
that was led largely the Sydney. Sydney come back obviously, yep,
they went golf a goal and they hit the front.
Actually when you thought they were out of the game,
it was like it was leaning towards it was going
to be out the game, particularly in the early in
that first half. But you saw Gordon you said he
particularly shine through, didn't you.
Speaker 2 (10:23):
It was fantastic. So he gets thirty for the game.
But that third quarter twelve disposals. I think he had
four interseet possessions as well. One thing I noticed with
Sydney they don't particularly have the best kicks, which you'll
touch on with the set shots, but Gordon's kicking.

It's a class above his teammates.
Speaker 1 (10:39):
And we have goodon and Mills delivering the ball inside
fifty compared to previous weeks when they were struggling. It's
a huge difference.
Speaker 2 (10:47):
And there were a few players as well, and that
there were so many players in that quarterback so two
goal kickers stood.

There was two two midfield goal kickers.
Speaker 4 (10:54):
Yes, one to highlight Heeney. Obviously he's a star player,
we know that. But his equal career high five all
you got them all before three quarter time as well,
and he had the influence on the ball as well.
We had twenty one disposals, I believe, and the Mini
Bon I know it was Bond celebration, but it was
Minibond who stole the headlines. He finished with twenty three disposals,

four goals. He's only nineteen years of age, and boys,
he was pick number forty five against forty five in
that twenty twenty three draft class.

That draft class to you boys, just quickly, the top
ten and in hindsight, I want you to give me
where you would have picked up Fraser compared to the
rest of these players. This was hardly read one. This
is in order, by the way read Cobby mkircher, so
it's a bit small. Jeff Walter, Zane Drsman, Nick Watson,
Riley Sanders, Caleb Winsor, Dan Curtain, Ethan Reid, Nate Caddy,

and ten Choloros, Connor O'Sullivan in eleven and Logan Morris
was pick thirty one as well in that draft.

Raises number one for mine right now.

I was saying before the shot, I think Fraser's number one.
I thought in my head, I'm like, that's a big
call because you're obviously gonna I think Leo, you were
saying maybe in the future, maybe not get a number one,
But right now he's the best player.

And I still think there's players in that top ten
like Caddie, like Connor.

O Sulivan, like the Wizard, Harley Reid. These guys probably.

Have bigger ceilings I think going forward, But right now
as it sits, it's Fraser one.

He one hundred percent being that in that top five mark.
Even you look for future career top five, this draft
ten years from from now, we could still be saying
his number one. I didn't think he had four goals
in him.

That's crazy. Can play and he was playing half back
at the start of the Year's awesome. He's superb can
he can damage anywhere around the ground. Just looks like
one of those players no matter where you put him,
he'll get the job done. You talked about when Sydney
needed people to stand up in the moment.

They didn't.

set shots. We talked about their inaccuracy.

Rory Lobb. So Rory Love just to get back on track. Boys,
Rory Love has progressively gotten more marks in eight straight games,
so that's an AFL record. He's gone one mark, three, five, six, seven, eight, nine,
thirteen thirteen marks. Great effort and he's just progressively gotten

better with his marking every game.

And that's never fourteen next week.

So yeah, if you can have a look at the
markets to jump on fourteen plus marks, I don't know
the market, yeah, the markets. Anyway, that was clearly the
best game of the year, and I just want to
touch on this before we end. No game should be
played at the seg ever again until they fixed their
until they fix their grass or whoever's doing the groundkeeping.
Groundskeeper that was so dangerous. That was players knees popping out.

There was those grassy mud everywhere. Just they almost did
not want they could have been.

It was just it wasn't a great spectacle on TV
with players slipping over. It was the only blight on
what was a fan fantastic game, probably my for mine,
the best game of the year.

let's get into Saturday at the MCG. Another awesome game.
Gold Coast fifteen goals fourteen one hundred and four, Melbourne
twelve goals thirteen eighty five. Now, lads, so much happened
in this game. If you you turn off in the
first quarter because it was thirty seven to one, you're like, oh,
(15:23):
this game is over. And I think a few of
the commentators were like, oh, this is going to be up.
But the one hundred point win, Melbourne storm back at
one point it was fifty to fifteen. They got it
back to three goals obviously only ended up nineteen points.
Just a lot happened. I'm just going to go through
some of the stat lines because it was very exciting.
You got Matt Rowe just signed a contract. I think
Leo you said a bit of a watch on him
during the week.

Yeah, well, it's similar with Chad Warner after he signed
his deal started to play some great football.
Speaker 1 (15:46):
And with row yeah, he was awesome. So just a
bit of a basketball reference. I think he got a
triple double here in this one, lads. He got twenty
four disposals, twelve clearance of eleven tackles. He was doing
absolutely everything. I think he had two goals seats on
his left foot as well, just showing these are dexterity.
I don't think that's the right way, but definitely not
will take it. Sounded cool, but yeah, a lot was happening.

You got inside fifty tackling pressure from both sides. Just
had so many good, good tackles that set up goals.
You got Ben King, he was awesome with the mark
similar to Sam Darcy that no one can reach him
when he gets up there. Three goals too against Stephen May.
Stephen May, I don't know. Stephen May has been copping
a few bass from players that lately. Lads.

Yes, but would you say the move to drop Drake
Leaver worked?

wasn't enough. Yes, spoils being done by Melbourne. They did

midfield that sort of struggled against the Sun's midfield. But
they probably didn't need Jake Levan. Maybe it was a
statement from the coach. What do you guys think?

He's probably fed up and I mean the fourteenth on
the ladder he's been dropping freege, dropping Van Roy and
here and there, So it was definitely a statement.

Yeah, not fair call the one guy I want to
talk about who just randomly pops up and turned into
the goat every now and then. Jake the Snake Melkhake
Malcham had five goals six. He got had the best
game in our lifetime, five goal six. He's a medium
sized forward. He well he has six inside fifty marks,
three inside fifty tackles, eighteen disposals, five goal six. I

love it says twelve scoring moments, but eleven of them
were shot and half of them are points, half of
them on points. It's like that's he was so good.

It was cramping in the third course. He was cooked.
And mac Andy. What are you doing is his direct opponent?
You think after like he's on what three goals for you?

Melbourne this year where they miss a lot of shots.

outside fifty and then he missed one some easy ones,
so it sort of sums up Melbourne how they're going
this season. We had a few collisions he had poor
Harvey Langford. I don't know if you guys saw this.
He copped an elbow to the head from the umpire.

This is what I meant if there is a lot
going on, there's just so many funny things that happened.

three goals. I absolutely love what he did there, even
assist without his boot on another weird things happening in
this game. And then I just want to look at
the Rock match up. Gorney had a few touches and
a goal. But Wwitzy has had a career resurgence this year.
He was in and out of the side a bit
last year, got a few injuries. He had more hit
outs and four more clearances than Gorney and from he's
getting a bit older now, but he's still got it

He's an underrated player is probably his old career.

He's a little bit underappreciated and he continues the year
of the Rocks.

But what I really love from Georgia Yard is is
he's so good at identifying where the dangerous space is.
He knows how to get off his man and then
push into that space. And the Port mids they just
trust him to do that every time.

The usual stars for Port they were just they were awesome.

So he did a great job on Crips. He limited Crips,
but twenty five disposals and two goals himself. I actually
want to ask a question on this one. Port Adelaide
have been it's all about keeping Butters this offseason and
they need to that's obvious. But Bergman is also out
of contract. How important is Miles Bergman becoming to this

team that they just have to sign him to that
same level that they have to sign Butters.

And I think it's very important.

Ollie Warren's going to be retiring, You've got Travis Boke
going to be retiring as well. These are the players
that you need to keep around the club. And he's
just an excellent role player. You all on the weekend
what he did with Crips, and he can influence the
game himself.

Yeah, And I think we talked up obviously Harnt Francis,
Rosie Butters and we're like, where's that next sort of
level of player, and he is probably that other than
Georgia Ye, Bergman would probably ran out the top five,
which we didn't know who was in that top five
at the start of the season, so you have to
get his signature otherwise they're going to be relying on
those guys again next season.

If they do lose Bergman, that's massive for them. I
just want to end on port just a few quick
shout outs. Darcy van Jones never lights up the statue,
but he's so reliable, always does the right thing.

He was so clean, he didn't make one mistake. And
the youngsters of Richard's, Hugh Jackson and Lyddy, they all
brought some energy and their work rate was exceptional. Now
we get to color, we get to the grim stuff.

This was ugly. This was really ugly to watch.

The skill errors were prevalent. The lack of fight in
play was prevalent. They didn't mind a few fights outside
of play stupid, But.

It was their mentality, their effort, their lack of attention
to detail, their care for the detail, that was very,
very poor. And I don't think we've seen that from
them this year. We've seen the skill erarors, we've seen
other stuff. We haven't seen that. So that was the
major sign for me that I'm like, oh boy, this
is this is really bad. It was stuff like not

picking up the ball, you know, not kicking over the
man on the mark, not being able to stick with opponents,
getting burnt by blokes like Richard who are prepared.

To run, prepared to put in the hard yards.

And you have Patrick Cripps come out and defending Voss, which, yeah,
you've got to do that as your captain of your club.

I thought he spoke really it was either.

Yeah, they got someone inside of the club did it,

is it, Voss. But it was just for me that
the way they played it was like they were waving
the flag. It was like they were not playing for
the coach with what I sort of mentioned those reasons.

season or even this season.

I think the worst thing about that though, is you
could see not to this extent, but you could see
that sort of result coming yeap, especially playing Kuno arguably underdone,
were doing ugably underdone, and off the back of losing
to North Melbourne as well, you can see it coming.
So yeah, I think there needs to be changed.

Yeah, I'm vossy out. I don't think it's all on
him because, as you said later, the skill errors were there,
but he's got to go. They need to change, They
need to change Carlton.

Well, they've got a lot of issues and I just
want to end on this last question.

The Blues. They have had one.

They've had one of the oldest playing sides this season.
I think it's top four of average age. Finals is
done out of the question. They don't have a pick
until like pick thirty five in this year's draft. Do
we think that the next side that is going to
completely bottom out and rebuild? Are they going to be
forced into that or what? How do they approach this offseason?

Oh, they have to. I think their windows done, their
Premiership windows done.
Speaker 4 (06:45):
Yeah, that's pretty clear unfortunately for them, And I think
you spoke about they've got a late pick for the
for the next draft.

All bit with hear the draft class isn't as great
as the.

Previously diluted with the academy picks with the academy prospects,
and look, it has to be done. They're gonna possibly
have to trade McKay jet some get some picks and
try and one something in the next draft or two.

And you look at their defense as well. A lot
of their half backs are getting on.

don't have much footy left in them and a lot

Everyone wants to talk about Friday Night at the SCG
Sydney versus the Western Bulldogs Sydney fourteen goals, twelve ninety six.
The Western Bulldogs get the job done sixteen goals, nine

one hundred and five. What a bloody game this was, Marcus,
Oh my god.

For every Friday night game that I normally cover on
a Sunday, it feels like every single time I'm saying,
this could be the game of the why do we
give him the good game? Game of the year, And
it definitely was. But the Dog's triumph in Bonds celebration game.
He's two fiftieth, of course, But it all started a
pre game, before the sign was even blown. It was

little old Papley going to Darcy and make an absolute
full out of himself going on there.

as well because in the first quarter he was unreal.
He was kicking him from everywhere. Kicked two goals early
on one from the boundary. He kicked three in that
was half, and he's just he just looks and he's
going to be some sort of player.

Some of his players. He's like a midfielder that's two
hundred and ten centimeters, Like that goal from the boundary
is like bon esque. Obviously, Bunch your midfielder, and Sam
Dust is your big tall four. You could play him anywhere.

So cliche, but not many players can do what he does.
And he's high.

But it was Sydney who actually they really struggled to
hope with the tall forwards of the Dogs. Darcy kicked
a few obviously and had a great start to the game,
but Aaron Norton in that second quarter in particular, kicked
three goals and he was arguably, you know, one of
their most dangerous threats and presidence going forward, particularly on
the lead. It was good to see him, you know,

at least be accurate in front of goal as well,
which is a bit.

Of confidence as well, which which is good against a
decent side.
Speaker 2 (09:48):
You could tell that Tom mccarton being laid out was
a massive impact of the Sydney team.

Absolutely, And I just think as a neutral footy perspective,
the third quarter was the best quarter of the game.

Was goal goal for and to end in that third quarter.

There were six lead changes throughout the third term and
that was led largely the Sydney. Sydney come back obviously, yep,
they went golf a goal and they hit the front.
Actually when you thought they were out of the game,
it was like it was leaning towards it was going
to be out the game, particularly in the early in
that first half. But you saw Gordon you said he
particularly shine through, didn't you.
Speaker 2 (10:23):
It was fantastic. So he gets thirty for the game.
But that third quarter twelve disposals. I think he had
four interseet possessions as well. One thing I noticed with
Sydney they don't particularly have the best kicks, which you'll
touch on with the set shots, but Gordon's kicking.

It's a class above his teammates.
Speaker 1 (10:39):
And we have goodon and Mills delivering the ball inside
fifty compared to previous weeks when they were struggling. It's
a huge difference.

And there were a few players as well, and that
there were so many players in that quarterback so two
goal kickers stood.

There was two two midfield goal kickers.
Speaker 4 (10:54):
Yes, one to highlight Heeney. Obviously he's a star player,
we know that. But his equal career high five all
you got them all before three quarter time as well,
and he had the influence on the ball as well.
We had twenty one disposals, I believe, and the Mini
Bon I know it was Bond celebration, but it was
Minibond who stole the headlines. He finished with twenty three disposals,

four goals. He's only nineteen years of age, and boys,
he was pick number forty five against forty five in
that twenty twenty three draft class.

ten and in hindsight, I want you to give me
where you would have picked up Fraser compared to the

Riley Sanders, Caleb Winsor, Dan Curtain, Ethan Reid, Nate Caddy,

needed people to stand up in the moment.

with players slipping over. It was the only blight on
what was a fan fantastic game, probably my for mine,

Gold Coast fifteen goals fourteen one hundred and four, Melbourne
twelve goals thirteen eighty five. Now, lads, so much happened
in this game. If you you turn off in the
first quarter because it was thirty seven to one, you're like, oh,

this game is over. And I think a few of
the commentators were like, oh, this is going to be up.
But the one hundred point win, Melbourne storm back at
one point it was fifty to fifteen. They got it
back to three goals obviously only ended up nineteen points.
Just a lot happened. I'm just going to go through
some of the stat lines because it was very exciting.
You got Matt Rowe just signed a contract. I think
Leo you said a bit of a watch on him
during the week.

Yeah, well, it's similar with Chad Warner after he signed
his deal started to play some great football.

had so many good, good tackles that set up goals.
You got Ben King, he was awesome with the mark
similar to Sam Darcy that no one can reach him
