Speaker 1 (00:00):

think this is going to be the best round of
footy we've seen all season. Leo, what are we going
to talk about?
Speaker 2 (00:07):
I'm all bored ben Keys in this one against the Dogs.
Speaker 3 (00:10):
Look for him to fire up.
Speaker 4 (00:11):
I'm going to talk about Melbourne, despite losing their last five,
actually playing some good footing.
Speaker 1 (00:16):
Really check out the Round eighteen preview right now. Welcome

on Demon time. How we going on Time?
Speaker 3 (00:37):
No, I'm not. I'm actually tipping North.
Speaker 1 (00:39):
Oh, spoiler, you can't be doing sports that eerie Marcus.
I'm loving your shirt, thank you. No, he doesn't wear
the ones that we got. We were madden about but
not on the shows.
Speaker 3 (00:53):
That just shows how much you love us.
Speaker 1 (00:55):
That's all right, I still love you guys. We're gonna
have another awesome show as we dive into all the matchups,
ip stats debates, locks and big calls. Are we gonna
Leo actually desperately needs a lock right this week.
Speaker 3 (01:06):
I need anything I can get you. I'm gone for
scraps at the moment.

Speaker 3 (01:29):
Oh? About this week and it'll be out later today.
Speaker 4 (01:32):
Well, I don't want to spoiler what I'm going to say,
but you go figure it out on figure.
Speaker 1 (01:36):
It out on the social. Yeah, check it out, check
out the social happy man on my angry Man. I
don't know, we'll have to find out to find out,
all right, my man? What is this in? Let's get
into the round eight IM previews before these days talk
anymore about random stuff. Thursday night foot Carlton versus Brisbane
Thursday night, seven thirty at Marvel Stadium. Now, Mark, you've
(01:59):
got some interesting things to talk about about Carlton.
Speaker 4 (02:02):
Yeah, well, look, this Carlton squad hasn't been very manly.
Let's say they've been boys children. But I want to
start off not the Carlton first team. We're going to
start with the Carlton second team here because I think
it's time to reward some form the Carton VFL side,
because they've won four of their last five. That only
(02:24):
loss was against North Melbourne by one point, so they're
playing good footy, they're playing well and boys, you know
who I like to see coming to the side.
Speaker 1 (02:34):
Who would you? Guys? Actually, I want it from both
of you because you've got some points on the VFL.
Leo definitely watches more VFL than most people for some reason.
So if you're going to bring someone in from the
VFL Cartons side to the main side, what would you do?
Speaker 4 (02:47):
Yeah, I'd bring Harry Lemmy. I think it's something that
they've missed the most has been another too forward with
Garry mckaye out. Someone who can run up towards the
wing and take those contested marks carried us to then
further and I think that's coming out in Charlie Curno's
game as well, he's just lacking opportunity in the thirst
and he's been highlighted over the past month and Lemmy's
(03:10):
kicked twenty eight goals so far this season. He's been
playing well, especially recently, and I just think it's time
to get him in there and just had that other
option down the line, and whether it's like or do
you screw it and just be like TDK, you know what,
like you're gonna be leaving at the end of the season.
Speaker 1 (03:26):
You can just go down four. No.
Speaker 4 (03:28):
No, he can go play pretty much eighty percent of
the time down forward.
Speaker 1 (03:33):
Let Pitt in the ruck most of the time because
he didn't work. Pitte's the ones actually hitting it out
to advantage.
Speaker 4 (03:39):
I feel like TDK takes it out the ruck a lot,
but Harry Lemmy has won for me that I want
to see coming yea, All right, Leo, who you thinking?
Speaker 2 (03:45):
Well, you can't spell twin without win caamp Raley. Get
him in the team. He hasn't debuted yet. That was
Lucas earlier this season.
Speaker 3 (03:53):
Was one of them mine. I didn't know who.
Speaker 2 (03:55):
He's gone twenty six, twenty twenty five and twenty five
in his last four ffoul games. I just think if
you're a Calm fan, you want to see the youth.
You want to see if he's got anything about him.
And yeah, like get him against both of them in
put him on the opposite win.
Speaker 1 (04:10):
But that would be pretty cool. You need some ball winners,
especially against the Lions as well, just to get back
on track to the game. Like you actually do need
some big ball winners and he could be one of them.
Speaker 4 (04:18):
And the season's done one not give him a go.
And they're facing a red hot Brisbane team absolutely who
have a fantastic away record. Actually, like a couple of
season ago everyone was talking about their Awa record.
Speaker 1 (04:28):
It's not it's not bad.
Speaker 4 (04:31):
They've actually won fifteen of their last eighteen matches away
from the Gabba. The only loss is coming into Adelaide
and Collingwood and the draw against North Moment the powerhouse
anomally there so weird down in Tazi, but they've won
also won eleven of their last thirteen at Marvel and boys,
I know they're coming off a five day break and travel.
(04:51):
Will that be a factor in this one or do
we still think you know, they're just going to cruise
over the line against the hapless Blues.
Speaker 2 (04:57):
I don't think it'll be factor in terms of the result,
but in terms of how the game is played. I reckon,
we can't hunt the best second half side prison with
that five day break, might just get very very defensive
in that sort of last quarter and the game the
scoring might cease.
Speaker 3 (05:10):
I reckon, Yeah, good, good call.
Speaker 1 (05:12):
Should we get into the tips here, lad, who you're
going to go Marcus after all that chat? Lines? Yeah?
Thirty five points?
Speaker 3 (05:19):
Yeah, I'm going lines by three and a half goals?
Speaker 1 (05:22):
Three and a half goals? You know, only only that? Really?
Speaker 2 (05:25):
Yeah, I think as the scoring will stop, I think,
and that'll keep it semi close.
Speaker 1 (05:30):
I think the X factors of Camray and a Kyle
Loman will have a few Goalsa Bailey Zach Bailey might
have another five. He did it last week. So lines
by forty five. I think it could even be more
that they're going to smash Carson. That's just end of
the day. Yeah, we go, all right, let's get into Friday.
Friday Night foot there's only one game on Friday Night
this week. It's exactly how we like it, gold Coast
Verse calling. It's a very good game. Actually, Friday Night
(05:52):
seven forty at people first stadium. Now this one. What
do you think about this one?
Speaker 3 (05:56):
There is this the game colling would finally drop. Let
me answer that for you.
Speaker 1 (06:00):
It isn't.
Speaker 2 (06:01):
I think, look the pie is this season they've been
the most organized and structured side.
Speaker 1 (06:05):
On both sides of the ball.
Speaker 2 (06:08):
And you're throwing the fact that they've had injuries to
keep players, but they still get that winning result. I
think that proves their structure and how good it is.
And then match with that structure, you just got the
star talent sprinkled in on every line. You've got your
you've got your Jamie Alliy's, you've got your Nick daykosses,
you've got your pendles and side bottoms, you've got your
Darcy Moore's. So's it's a bloody it's our bloody good side.
Speaker 3 (06:29):
That's some analysis.
Speaker 1 (06:30):
The first is our bloody good side.
Speaker 2 (06:33):
So it's going to take a massive effort for the
Suns to get up in this one. I know it's
at home, but Marcus, they do have some tough matchups
following this game, don't.
Speaker 1 (06:41):
They do well?
Speaker 4 (06:42):
Including this one They've got They've got Collingwood at home obviously,
and then Adelaide away. Never a tough, always a tough ass,
sorry at that level. And then they've got the Q
clash against Brisbane at People First Stadium. So it's a
tough three weeks and you'd think they probably need to
at least one win out of those three if they
are any chance of finishing.
Speaker 1 (07:00):
The top four.
Speaker 2 (07:01):
Yeah, I think I think one one win will get
them like into finals, like it can.
Speaker 3 (07:08):
But I think two wins we can go like, hey.
Speaker 2 (07:10):
Like maybe they could win a final, maybe they could
go deep if they win two of these games.
Speaker 3 (07:15):
It's a tough three. That's three top four sides.
Speaker 1 (07:18):
If you yeah, if you be two of us, I
agree with it. It sort of puts them up going. Oh,
we can actually believe in Gold Coast a bit more
because this time of year is usually when they drop
off exactly, and especially the next three weeks, it's gonna
be interesting.
Speaker 3 (07:27):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (07:28):
If they lose all three though, then it's it's a
lot of pressure on them. And one player that actually
has had a lot of pressure this season and I
want to I want to highlight and I want to
response from him is Mac Andrews.
Speaker 1 (07:39):
So David King, the what do they call him?
Speaker 3 (07:42):
The good from you?
Speaker 2 (07:46):
Yeah, that's actually not bad for your Marcus. For a change,
he labeled him as casual, So Mac Andrew is a
casual player. And Andrew responded saying he wants to go back
to playing with a bit of instinct and not really
thinking but doing.
Speaker 3 (08:01):
And I think.
Speaker 2 (08:03):
These three weeks are going to be massive for Mac.
With Collins is fit to return because he had calf
tightness last last week, he'll have a huge role on
my check or McStay Andrew that is. And both of
those forwards have been in great form. I think McStay
got four last week, my check two goals.
Speaker 1 (08:20):
So this is a big.
Speaker 2 (08:22):
Slot again for Mac Andrew and whether he can whether
he can back it up. And then you look to
the other end of the ground for the Suns stats guy,
you want to talk about some key position players there
that are on the rise.
Speaker 1 (08:33):
Yeah, they're on the rise. You've got Reed and Walter,
You've got Ethan Read, Jed Walter, You've obviously got Ben
King killing it. He's going to be a superstar of
the competition already sort of is. But Jed Walter and
Ethan Rey, they just need to step up for more
than one or two moments a game. I think around
the awesome Pis back line, which you've got that can
obviously Darcy Moore, You've got Jeremy How. They can take
in set marks, if they can take some contested marks themselves,
(08:55):
bring it to a ground, just make contests, because I
feel like they go to Benking maybe the mif it is,
possibly go to him a little bit too much, just
because he's so big and such a good mark. But
if they can take some big marks, even just kick
I know, three goals between them, Yeah, that's gonna another
fine and then put it. They'll have to mark them
more more and Jeremy How will have to mark them more,
man mark them more rather than go for intercept mark
So it'll be interesting forward defensive.
Speaker 2 (09:16):
I think it's gonna be really tough for them considering
how like much development they still have to go.
Speaker 3 (09:21):
You know, both second year plays. Ethan Reid was good
last week against the bomb as he kicked three.
Speaker 2 (09:26):
But yeah, we've seen that their consistency with not just them,
with any young players always tough.
Speaker 1 (09:31):
So they've got a huge role in this one. I reckon, Yeah, absolutely,
should we get into the tips of margin, Let's do it.
Speaker 3 (09:36):
Leo, what do you reckon, I'm going Pies by eleven.
Speaker 2 (09:38):
I know Sons are at home, but I just think
I'm not tipping against this Collingwood side until I see
something otherwise.
Speaker 4 (09:45):
Yeap, I totally agree with with Leo Collingwood. Just I'll
go a few points.
Speaker 1 (09:50):
Yeah, I think it's gonna be really close as well.
I'm going to go by nine points of the pie.
We're all in the pie. They lost their last time,
but last year they weren't as good. I think they're
playing a lot like twenty twenty three, where no matter
how they play, they just know how to get over
the line. That's just how they're playing at the moment.
So I reckon that.
Speaker 3 (10:04):
Will give them a bit more credit than that though.
Speaker 1 (10:06):
Yeah, all the West Coast games, for example, like they
didn't play that great, but they're not getting over.
Speaker 3 (10:11):
The line though, are they? They stepping up in big moments?
Speaker 1 (10:14):
I mean in this game, like just say it's really
close and people got all the Sons might be playing
a bit better and then colinwo just just win. That's
my vible. They know how to win close games always.
Let's get into Saturday, the next one at Western Bulldogs
Vest and there's so many good games this week that
it's oh my god, Saturday one twenty at Marvel Stadium.
I feel like every second game is at Marvel as well.
Now these sides actually haven't played each other at Marvel
(10:35):
Stadium since twenty sixteen, the last five in Victoria, I've
been at Mars Stadium.
Speaker 3 (10:39):
What happened in twenty sixteen?
Speaker 1 (10:41):
The Dogs won the flag? Yes?
Speaker 3 (10:42):
Yes, so there's a numerology, is it not?
Speaker 1 (10:45):
Really? It's just a stat man.
Speaker 3 (10:46):
Twenty sixteen is the number?
Speaker 1 (10:48):
Yeah it is. I guess what do you want about
the last adelaide? The Crows and even Western woodos would
be so happy they're not playing at Mars Mars. Conditions
are so tough. It's always freezing. It was hailed very
rocky down there, very what rocky? No, that is not
good anyway, it's going to be under the roof. Do
(11:09):
we think, lads, this could be a huge score or not.
I'm just gonna have some stats for you and then
you can decide. You've got the Dog's number one offense
averaged one hundred and twenty six across their last four games.
Then you've got the Crows of the number two defense.
They've con sided fifty six points across their last five.
So what do we think about that?
Speaker 3 (11:25):
Marcus, you go first, and will this be a shootout?
Speaker 1 (11:29):
It's hard to I don't know. It's hard to say.
I don't know which way to go.
Speaker 3 (11:33):
Analysis lead one way.
Speaker 1 (11:36):
I'll lead towards the shootout.
Speaker 4 (11:38):
I just think the dogs tools are in great form,
and that's part of the reason why I do think
it's going to be a shooter. I think La can
kick a winnable score, but the Dogs can just get
Overlonge with that height, specifically in the forward line. Look,
Norton and I've combined for twenty seven goals in their
last four games.
Speaker 3 (11:57):
Yep.
Speaker 1 (11:58):
So Norton's really been consistent in the last sort of month,
which is good for them and the likes of Mark
Keen in that back line Vadalid, they've been great all
years so far. Don't get me wrong.
Speaker 4 (12:07):
They're ranked number two for defense in the competition. But
this is a really, really big test against two really
tall inform foards.
Speaker 2 (12:15):
It's a big test, but I think they're going to
give him the clamps.
Speaker 3 (12:19):
We keep underrating Adelaide's back line.
Speaker 2 (12:21):
I feel morel is a fantastic play He should be
an all showing conversation. Mcallaney as well. He's been great.
Keenan Butts of the two for mine. I think if
there's enough pressure up field, you can get to Darcy Norton.
I know they've got the height, they've got good ball
use coming in, but I think Adelaide it's going to
be a full defensive effort around the ground, but I
(12:42):
think they can clamp them. And not necessarily a player
that will go to that clamping style, but a player
on the rise you want to highlight.
Speaker 1 (12:49):
Yeah, I want to talk about Dan Curtin. There was
a big, big raps room coming into this season. He's
averaged sixteen in a goal of the last month. I
know that's not jumping off the page, but I'm comparing
him to Murphy Reid. Murphy Reid obviously he's had a
better season. He's up there in the rising star ranks.
But Dan Kern's been really good. I think he only
had nine touches and a goal last game, but every
time he gets it he makes the right decision. So
he'm playing a bit on the wing we're talking about Leo,
(13:10):
but a bit forward as well. Even his goal he
snapped was just perfect. I think every time he gets it,
he makes the right decision. And the depth of Adelaide
like this year the next couple of years is so good.
All their young guys coming through, just getting better week
on week, and you just, yeah, as a Crow's band,
you'd be loving it.
Speaker 4 (13:24):
And I think it's the like of Dan Kurent and
the players you mentioned as well, Leo to specifically to
stop Norton and Darcy is to stop those leading lanes
because I feel like Butts and Keane have body on
those two, whereas with the high if they just stretch
out their arms on the lead Norton and Darcy, they're
going to win a free kick re marketable every time.
(13:44):
So it's up to those players to stop the leading
lanes and you know, make it more of a body
on body pat contest.
Speaker 2 (13:50):
Yeah, wingmen getting back in the whole Absolutely tactical turn
that one.
Speaker 1 (13:54):
Absolutely the dogs. They're seven and one at Marvel this season,
but they've beaten just one team in the top nine
out of Look, they've had a very easy fixture run
this whole season. I've underrated the Crows a little bit
later We've talked about on the show and a few
of the socials. But I've gotta go the Crows. I'm
going to go the Crows by twelve points.
Speaker 3 (14:10):
I'm sorry, mate, the bandwagon's full.
Speaker 1 (14:12):
I'm just rattled by the Crows. Last sess I dipped
the top four. I was one year too earlier. Now
they're good. I'm still rattled by them. Call. I'm doing
some batf well.
Speaker 2 (14:21):
Myself and ep Olivia are on the Chrome bandwagon and
you haven't made the cut, mate, You're going to have
to wait for the next just waiting for.
Speaker 1 (14:31):
North at the station. Yeah, that's that's still a few yea, Yeah,
that's that's not good. What are you guys? Dipping Leo
Crome by five?
Speaker 3 (14:38):
This will be the game of the round for mine.
Speaker 1 (14:40):
I think it could be. Yeah, I'm going to go
to the dogs.
Speaker 3 (14:43):
Two goals, two goals, different tips.
Speaker 1 (14:46):
There's a lot of different tips, all right, GWS first
Geelong is the next one Saturday four fifteen at NG Stadium,
Marcus So a few handy returns.
Speaker 4 (14:57):
There are a few handy returns and for both sides.
You got the major one for GBIWS Locky Whitfield coming
back in the side in his two fiftieth he was
great when these two sides last night. He had thirty
disposals around six hundred plus meters gained. He was superb
And obviously Bailey Smith, who was in the running for
the Brownlow medal, comes back in for Geelong and that's
a big in against a startup at g WS Midfield
(15:19):
that have been playing fairly well recently. Think Callahan had
career games in my opinion against West Coast last week.
But I don't know about you, but I'm really big
on GBS in this one.
Speaker 3 (15:32):
I don't know about me, but you're an idiot. I'm
on Geelong here.
Speaker 4 (15:37):
Really, I'm all about the big, big sound in this one.
I think because the Gbs have the cat's number. They
won the last three meetings and all those were down
at the Cattery Way. Where's this game at though?
Speaker 1 (15:47):
But this game is an energy, it's not.
Speaker 4 (15:52):
They know how to beat Geelong when Geelong have this
so called fortress and home home grand advantage, but they
know how to get them at the hardest place to
play footage.
Speaker 2 (16:01):
Gelong shot themselves in the foot though last time they
played down there.
Speaker 1 (16:04):
They did, but the point two Giants still scored like
one hundred. But part of the puns. They're a sleeping
joint are the fact that they come in They're heading
into this game as major outsiders with the homeown advantage.
I just think just.
Speaker 4 (16:23):
Proves my point because they are peaking right at the
perfect time, and I'm expecting big things to come the
end of the season.
Speaker 2 (16:29):
But they don't have Sam Taylor Jack but Jack sorry,
Jack Buckley is a test. So I think Jess might
outscore g w A himself.
Speaker 1 (16:40):
Who going to plan him? Lak Just worry about Jesse.
Speaker 4 (16:44):
Just worry about Jesse Cameron outscoring Jesse Hogan because he
will do it at the other end of the grind.
Speaker 2 (16:48):
Jesse, you got Suett they're playing. You got Jack Henry
to keep him quiet.
Speaker 1 (16:52):
It doesn't it doesn't matter. Jess kicked seven, j Jes
Jesse Hogan. He don't know Hogan. Jesse Hogan kicked seven
when these teams last minute earlier in the season. Yeah,
that's a good that's a good start.
Speaker 2 (17:08):
That one.
Speaker 3 (17:09):
Okay to one.
Speaker 1 (17:10):
We gave one to mine points to him. By the way, I.
Speaker 3 (17:13):
Will say you're on my side.
Speaker 2 (17:14):
What I will say is Bailey Smith is back paired
with homes and the grid of Atkins. I think that
midfield battle can beat the Giants midfield battle and give
the Cats forwards more opportunity.
Speaker 4 (17:27):
There's just great matchups around the ground because you look
at homes coming off, like the midfield and the half back,
where you've got Whitfield doing that, You've got Callahan doing that.
I just think the small forwards is where the game
is going to be won in this for both sides.
Where you look at you know, Manna Myers close and
then you've got dark giants. We know you like Ryan,
(17:50):
but I think that's where the game is going to
be one and lost, which is why I think GBS
could possibly get out on top.
Speaker 1 (17:56):
Of this one.
Speaker 3 (17:57):
I think I think Geelong will get the cat off
their back.
Speaker 1 (17:59):
Oh wow, the puns in this show, I don't know
if they're good on bad. Let us know. In the
comments you brought up, you brought up both of the
leading goal scorers. You've got Jesse Hogan on forty goals.
Jess is leading the Coleman now by twelve goals over
Jesse Hogan. Is there any chance that Jesse could come
back and how many goals each in this game? For him?
Speaker 4 (18:16):
There is a chance there is there is a chance
if Jeremy Cameron, god forbid gets injured, then will you
look at you look at the trend and.
Speaker 3 (18:25):
Ben King win the colon?
Speaker 2 (18:26):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (18:26):
Maybe maybe I think it's something as King and Georgia
Artis is actually ten goals.
Speaker 3 (18:31):
Welcome to the George Yardis bandwagon.
Speaker 1 (18:33):
Sorry, you can't right this right? I just saw just
laid out that. The second in the Coleman.
Speaker 2 (18:37):
Anyway, Jesse kicks six in this Hogan doesn't touch the football.
Speaker 1 (18:44):
What about you? What do you think they get? Hogan
gets more goals than Cameron?
Speaker 3 (18:48):
What do they get?
Speaker 1 (18:49):
How many? How many goals? Hogan?
Speaker 4 (18:51):
Hogan gets six goals? Cameron gets three goals?
Speaker 1 (18:54):
Seven? Thanks so much answering. You guys are going ahead
to Eddie all right? Who your tipping? I know who
you leos tipping there?
Speaker 3 (19:03):
Yeah, and you know he's dipping as well.
Speaker 2 (19:05):
Well.
Speaker 1 (19:05):
He might change it has been very weak.
Speaker 3 (19:06):
So along by nine, it's along by nine.
Speaker 1 (19:08):
Marcus gb West by forty seven, forty seven, ge a
little bit, I'll get a little bit more Robot twenty points.
I'm going to go the Cats by twelve. They get
a win at NG Stadium next one before you two
just start fighting on the cotch over There is Richmond
at Verse Essenence Saturday, seven thirty five at the mcgleater. Yeah,
(19:29):
what's gonna happen in this one?
Speaker 2 (19:30):
I don't know what's going to happen in this one.
But do Richmond need a big performance here? They've got
losses of seventy two, sixty eight and seventy nine in
their last three weeks. Also like they're just sort of
warning the season to end.
Speaker 1 (19:44):
A little bit.
Speaker 3 (19:45):
Maybe a debut for Taj Hotton can live in them up.
What do we think about that? Do we think that
they need a big performance here? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (19:52):
There you go.
Speaker 4 (19:53):
I think a lot of no, because no, because we
did stay at the start of the season. Once they
got those over mark for the two and a half wins,
they overperformed, over achieved expectations. And if they lost every
game by ten goals, then Soviet they've already I think.
Speaker 3 (20:08):
We said that like half jokingly though.
Speaker 1 (20:10):
But also they've got to be somewhat competitive, That's.
Speaker 3 (20:14):
What I mean.
Speaker 1 (20:15):
They need a big performance, but in a game like this,
possibly this is where I want them to be competitive.
Speaker 4 (20:20):
They can't get blown out of the waters against and
who are I agree.
Speaker 1 (20:24):
I agree, You've got the rivalry, you got the send
injuries and especially their last month and a half, so
I agree with it. They need a big performance.
Speaker 2 (20:31):
I yeah, well I was gonna say I agree with
Olf on Essendon side. Look, we're talking about Zach Merritt
on the Sunday Show being back in that midfield where
he needs to be.
Speaker 3 (20:41):
That's where you want to see him.
Speaker 1 (20:43):
Listen to our show.
Speaker 2 (20:44):
He listened to our show and it was a fantastic
game from Zach. But I want to chat about Sam Durham.
There's been a lot of chat about him this week
in the media. Cane Korn's called him the toughest player
in the AFL.
Speaker 1 (20:54):
Jesus he I don't know about it.
Speaker 2 (20:56):
He's in the top five to ten for mine. He's
got a herds goal that he does okay, and cal Toomey.
He wrote an article about whether or not whether or
not he is essenon'ce next skipper after Zach Merritt as
a resident Bomber's fan and residents of suffer Marcus, what
do we think? Do you want Durham as your next captain?
Speaker 1 (21:15):
No? No, I wouldn't was my next captain. That's not.
Speaker 4 (21:19):
That's not anything against Sam Durham. I love Sam Durham.
It's just I prefer my captains to be behind the ball.
I prefer captains to be defenders really just because they
because they can see the whole ground, they can see
what's happening in front of them, and they.
Speaker 3 (21:32):
Can be a leader in the back line.
Speaker 1 (21:33):
Though they can be. But I feel like off the field,
I've that before. I feel like off the field Durham
wouldn't be like he's not naturally a leader off the field,
whereas on the field, yes, the way he plays the game.
Speaker 4 (21:44):
One person who I would like to see, well, it
is going to be probably Andrew McGrath, which.
Speaker 5 (21:52):
But Sagmar who like to see is joy Cardwell, but
that's not behind the ball you just because it was McGrath,
Because it's going to be McGrath, that's what it's going
to be behind the ball, or i'd have Riddley or
Read always injured.
Speaker 1 (22:06):
What are you talking about?
Speaker 2 (22:06):
I like to my captain's behind the ball as.
Speaker 3 (22:11):
Okay, okay, there we go. We got there in the end,
all right.
Speaker 1 (22:14):
I know what he's trying to say.
Speaker 3 (22:16):
Yeah, I want to go back to you.
Speaker 2 (22:19):
Actually firstly, before we do that, Essendon fans in the comments,
let us know what you think about that that. And
then now I want to go back to your Marcus.
I want you to chat about the offense in this one.
Do you think it's going to be low scoring?
Speaker 3 (22:34):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (22:34):
Sure, yeah, I think yeah.
Speaker 4 (22:35):
I think it's It's pretty obvious that it's leaning towards
that way because these two sides are ranked eighteenth and
sixteenth in the competition for points scored, and historically these
matchups have been low scoring as well. I think a
lot of them have hit the undertotal points mark for
the games as well. So yeah, I think this is
going to be another sixty to eighty sort of.
Speaker 1 (22:55):
Dub yep, no good call. All right, we'll here you
tipping Lud's Lea Din's by five goals, Don's for twenty.
I'm going to say by thirty five. I think the
likes of Caddy and May Will Will that's not definitely
not mean in the middle. Try to trick me. Genuinely,
They're going to kick a lot of goals and the
Dons should beat them pretty comfortable, I believe, yeah, he Leo.
Quick question, do you know what the ASEX means, do
(23:15):
you mean AFLX, No, mate, the AX the Australian Stock Exchange.
Speaker 3 (23:20):
Oh man, I'm absolutely clueless for that stuff.
Speaker 1 (23:22):
Well, lucky for you, Stockhead is a free website that
gives you everything you need to know about punting stocks
on the AX.
Speaker 3 (23:28):
Damn, that sounds pretty good. Where do I check them out?
Speaker 1 (23:31):
Check it out via stockare dot com, dot you and
it's even easy for your little p brain to understand.
Speaker 3 (23:35):
Damn.
Speaker 1 (23:37):
Next one Freeman of Hawthorne at Saturday eights and the
other Saturday night game at Opta Stadium. Freo. I just
can't read them. They're so annoying. They've been annoying me
all year. When I reckon, when I tip them, they lose,
and when I don't tip them they win. It really
frustrates me. They're really hard to read this season, lads.
They've had close wins against North and the Saints at home.
They lost to Sydney as well, like where's that coming
(23:59):
into play? And then I've had they've been Adelaide, Jws
and Gold Coasts. So how they're so hard to read?
Speaker 3 (24:04):
They're bad annoyed that I can't even talk about it.
Speaker 1 (24:08):
Yeah, it's hard to weird. That's because I think we
all I think we all had them top four at
the start of the season on the fringe of it.
They're not going to make that at this rate.
Speaker 3 (24:17):
Well, you don't know.
Speaker 1 (24:18):
Do you still think they're going to make top four?
Speaker 3 (24:20):
Definitely? What a game off top four?
Speaker 1 (24:23):
To answer my question, do you.
Speaker 3 (24:24):
Think they could make top four?
Speaker 1 (24:26):
No, no way, no way. There's there's about four other
teams that can push every team in the top nine
right now, I can make top four. Yeah, statistically. I
just meant for your own personal opinion.
Speaker 3 (24:35):
Oh you want my personal opinion? Yes, please, I think
you're asking.
Speaker 1 (24:39):
No.
Speaker 2 (24:39):
I think I said like, could they like legitimately No, No,
I don't think they think what you're doing.
Speaker 1 (24:47):
Luke Jackson and Lloyd meet the Lord Meek had a
great battle last time. They both had fifteen plus disposals
thirty plus hitouts. We've talked up Jackson a lot over
the last couple of weeks. We talked about their elite midfielders.
Obviously there was a tag last week. I think this
is the w that Shy Bolton needs to step up.
Though he's had the last three weeks, he hasn't had
more than seventeen disposals. I know he's not that twenty
five plus disposal consistent sort of player, but he's played
(25:08):
a lot more midfield minutes lately. He had a quarter
last week of zero disposals, and I just think they're
paying him a lot of money. He should be stepping
up for this team. Now you're a resident Hawks man.
Is the other point we want to touch on. I
talked about free as midfield. They were obviously tagged the
last couple of weeks. What are your thoughts and should
the Hawks your Hawks have a tagging role this week?
Speaker 2 (25:27):
Yeah? I think Nash has to go to Sarong to
nullify his clearance output. Nash is just a bigger body,
is good in the clenches, so I think that has
to happen. So wrong the last two weeks, he's gone
eighteen and eleven disposals versus taggers. Last week against Sydney,
it was a major reason why Sydney, Oh, we were
able to win that game. So I think Hawthorne would
be crazy not to tag in this one.
Speaker 1 (25:48):
Yeah, and then do we think that might open up
a few avenues for Shi Bolden to lift his disposal?
It sort of happened last week and he lifted in
the second half. I just want to fourqutter effort for
Hi him. If they do tag, direcon sh I can
get get off the leash a little bit.
Speaker 2 (26:00):
Well, it's tough to say because he is so inconsistent.
If they do tag, though, he has to play well
because that's why they bring him to the club to
be that X factor player.
Speaker 3 (26:09):
And you've got you've got your best player, arguably.
Speaker 2 (26:11):
Sorong, who might be influenced Bolton needs to stand up
one hundred percent.
Speaker 1 (26:15):
He's one of the highest paid.
Speaker 4 (26:16):
He's probably the highest paid player at Female Joy Bolton
so in his earnest paycheck.
Speaker 1 (26:20):
Yeah, no, good call. Good call. And also for those
who haven't seen across the socials, Leo's breakdown of the
Hawks forwards throughout the VFL. We talked about it on
the Sunday Show. People were just arguing in the comments
and saying who should be brought in for the Hawks?
Should this guy come back in? Because it's a great
problem to add for Hawthorne. They've got so many forwards
playing well in AFL, so many forwards playing well in VFL.
Do reckon any changes this week? Leo or in the
(26:41):
maybe the future weeks.
Speaker 2 (26:42):
No, I think this week they should leave it as is.
You've got Lewis, I think probably needs another VFL game.
He's coming off a six day break if he is
to play in the AFL, which I just don't think
is good considering his record. And I'd actually keep rams
Then in the side because what rams Then offers that
Dear doesn't is like his ability to ruck and chop
out against Darcy and Jackson.
Speaker 3 (27:05):
You can't just have Meet doing it.
Speaker 2 (27:06):
Meek will get like me, will try his hard out,
but it's I think it'll be too much for him.
So I think rams and chop out in the ruck
is needed in this one.
Speaker 1 (27:14):
Yeah, good call. All right, let's go into the tips.
We've got a few different tips again. I don't mind
that I'm gonna go the Hawks by ten points. Like
I said at the start, I just can't trust Freer.
I think their home form hasn't been that good, really
close losses against some average teams. Now they're got to
play the Hawks and there are much better outfits. I'm
going Hawks by ten points. So you got Marcus.
Speaker 4 (27:32):
I'm the docors black goal. I think it's gonna be
another nail bider. I think there's gonna be so many
close games this weekend.
Speaker 3 (27:37):
Yeah, I agree with you, Marcus.
Speaker 2 (27:40):
I just think even though they haven't been that convincing Frio,
there's just something about like a response game after last
week at home, Hawthorne will bring it to him, but
I just think they can hold on.
Speaker 1 (27:51):
Yeah yeah, okay, so you're not going for your Hawks later.
Speaker 3 (27:54):
It's a tough game to tip.
Speaker 1 (27:55):
That's it's the hardest game, right Yeah, this is purely
like a home Grande vandage. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (28:00):
Yeah, that's sort of my raising too good call.
Speaker 1 (28:02):
Next one Sunday Fun Day is Melbourne versus North Melbourne.
I'm already nervous for this one as a North fan, Marcus.
You're covering this one, yeah, I am. And look, Melbourn
coming into this game are one of.
Speaker 4 (28:14):
The worst form teams in the competition according to their
their win loss ratio. They lost five on the trot.
But actually I want to sort of break this down
a little bitfore years because I think since round six
really they haven't.
Speaker 1 (28:26):
Been a bad team.
Speaker 4 (28:26):
They've beaten free Men or Richmond, West Coast, Brisbane and Sydney.
They only lost to their only losses since round six.
It comes against Hawthorne where they were in it until
the final quarter.
Speaker 1 (28:36):
Look sank.
Speaker 4 (28:36):
Kildo was a bad one. I'll give you that one.
Kilda was a bad loss. But then in the last
four weeks Collingwood by a point, they played very well.
King's Birthday, Port Adelaide and in form Port Adelaide at
Adelaide Oval only lost by a few kicks, and they
were in that game. Yeah, Gold Coast as well. Similarly,
they got off to a slow start, but they worked
their way back into the game.
Speaker 1 (28:56):
Three quarters they played really three quarters.
Speaker 4 (28:58):
They played fairly well, probably better than Gold for the
majority of that game, and then Adelaide again at Adelaide
Oval to only lose by a couple of kicks and
look to basically have the momentum swing from that Gold
decision that didn't go in their favor. I think they're
actually playing better football than North Melbourne currently as like
(29:19):
heading into this game, but the form doesn't suggest that.
Speaker 1 (29:22):
So I think it's a weird one because you don't
usually go, oh, they've lost all these games, but they've
had hard opponents and they've shown good signs. Especially they
didn't show a lot of that right at the start
of the season.
Speaker 4 (29:32):
If they play a lot of other sides or bottom
nine sides, playing the way that they are playing, a
lot of these are wins.
Speaker 1 (29:38):
That's true.
Speaker 2 (29:39):
Losses they went to They went to Trager Park and
never came back like cha went to Madrid.
Speaker 1 (29:44):
Oh yes, that's a reference.
Speaker 4 (29:48):
They could get a win on the board here, but
they could be bolstered by Norse injuries and norse lack
of players available.
Speaker 1 (29:56):
Isn't that right? Stuf's going as I hold this, we
walk into this studio, this is this what's going on
at North of the moment. I don't know if you
can see that on the camera. We walk into the
how to you? His heads off? His head is off
in the studio. Who did that? I don't know. I
reckon you. He does not like Elder you wasn't. But
in terms of let me just put that down. In
terms of North's injuries, it's work for at the moment,
the injury list is huge. You've got Jackson Archer out
(30:18):
for the season. We're just talking him up the other
week as coming back in and being a real vital
part of the back line. You've got older you a concussion.
He dominated against Melbourne last time. Got Cherry is a
scare and it was a test, but I think he's
going to be okay, same as Laki, so it still
says test on the injury report, but they should be okay.
And then North, I think Leo talked about this the
other week, not resting the older players. They get injured
and they might be up for a few more weeks.
(30:39):
It's Darling Parker. Common has also just had a lot
of injuries. Yeah, what do you think about that? Do
we think the Norse should have rested a few of the
older players the other week?
Speaker 3 (30:47):
Yeah, ahead of their centenary game.
Speaker 2 (30:48):
I think they should have rested a couple of the
older ones and World War two and all three missed
last week in what was a very important game for
the clubs.
Speaker 1 (30:56):
So great job coaching staff. Yeah not great and yeah
not good And that just sums up North bubblehead.
Speaker 4 (31:02):
It's just like actually put in like a fair contest
in particularly in the first time Melbourne, but it's just
whether they can, you know, back it up again for
multiple multiple weeks. But the most interesting matchup that I'm
looking out for is obviously Jerry Verse gorn Oh it's
always goodly Jerry players which you think you will Jerry
verse Gorn will be one of the best matchups in
the competition. And boys, I want to throw this to
(31:24):
who out of the two of those is your all
Australian ruck.
Speaker 3 (31:29):
Out of the two of them, I'm going to Jerry.
Speaker 1 (31:31):
Oh really, I thought you would.
Speaker 3 (31:33):
Go sneak you watch on Grundy.
Speaker 1 (31:34):
Yeah, Rundy has been in better for than the last
sort of eight games, I'd say, but in terms of
the whole season, I'm going Cherry as well. I think
he's been awesome. He's averaging more heat outs to advantage
which than Gorney this season, which I take is a
really big stat because you can have all the hitouts
in the world if you've gone straight to your players,
which is awesome. More clearances, more tackles. Gorney is averaging
more disposals this year, which is lifted by letting towards
(31:56):
the X Men.
Speaker 4 (31:57):
Interesting because it's likely to be wet. Do you think
it's suits either or because it is going to be
raining pretty much today well at the time of recording
all the way to the end of the week.
Speaker 3 (32:07):
See, I think that suits North, I.
Speaker 6 (32:08):
Know, not clean at the ball though Melbourne can't kick, true,
they can't kick in dry weather, so I think if
North can, I don't know, just win the clearance is
like they normally can play forward half game, so.
Speaker 1 (32:22):
That's where that's where I think they'll falter. I think
especially with Ldu out the likes of Aldu and Wardlow,
I feel like that suits them where the footy suits them.
They're game more mean as.
Speaker 4 (32:33):
In the I mean warlaw sorry, and then they play
well and foot whereas and they're not playing and Melbourne
you've got the likes of Viney Petraca Oliver even Becausey Pickett,
who's slick in the wet, can run through the midfield.
I just think, I know, but I think they will
get first hands on the footy. They will win the
clearance battle, They'll win the inside fifty battle. It's just
(32:54):
they need their fulls to be efficient from there. And
I think against North they win those two clearances and
inside fifty, so I think they can get the job done.
Speaker 1 (33:01):
Fair enough, who didn't or fifteen North he's by forty forty.
Oh yeah, that's a big call. Which later I'm going
to go North bye, I'm going to have five points
it's always going to be close, you guys. Forget the
fortress of mcg exactly, the MCG North too, and oh
we've been in the powerhouses of Richmond, massive club Carlton
not just another massive club. And then the smaller club
(33:22):
of Melbourne will beat them too this week. So there
we go. There we go? All right? Next one, say
Kilda Verse Sydney Sunday three fifteen at a Marvel Stadium.
Some tagging options here, lad, so that we want to
talk about.
Speaker 2 (33:33):
Yeah, this game, for mine is all about James Jordan
versus Nasaiah Wangane Miller and Marcus.
Speaker 3 (33:39):
I want to give you a shout out.
Speaker 2 (33:40):
You mentioned on the Sunday Rap Show about Sam Mitchell's
comments about how he tried to tag NAS multiple times and.
Speaker 3 (33:46):
They just struggled to do it.
Speaker 2 (33:48):
Looking ahead to this game, and I want to ask
you boys, put your coaches hats on for me if
you can. Would you send Jordan to him or maybe
Braden Campbell? What's your move?
Speaker 1 (33:57):
I think you send Brandon Campbell? Really yeah, I think so.
Speaker 4 (34:00):
I think he's done a really good job locking down
those sort of Oh. NAS isn't really known for his
intercept marking game. But if he can just somewhat just
just stay with him, run with him for the game.
Speaker 1 (34:11):
I know it was goa tough ask.
Speaker 4 (34:12):
Obviously Hawthorne tried to put many people on him, but
for James Jordan, I feel, look, you could put him
on because there isn't really that many people to tag
in that Saint Kildon midfield.
Speaker 1 (34:23):
Possibly McRae Sinclair, I'd be Sinklas more damaging than McCraw.
I'd say midfield. I think you just tag nas though
you don't need to tag anything else, and I'd say
you'd put Jordan. Jordan has it more of a tank
like to run with him the whole game. I don't
think it's gonna work, Yeah, but yeah, i'd say Jordan. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (34:39):
And there are some big outs for the Swans in
this one. Obviously Papleyana Mardy and Mardy done for the season.
But the Swans have been in a better recent form.
No coincidence, that's been because Errol's back in the side.
He's been building thirty against the Dogs, twenty five last
weekend against Fremantle. He's just so instrumental how they moved
(35:00):
the football and he's kicking is always first class. But
on the flip side for the Saints, they've lost their
last four. They've been close, like they were close against Hawthorne,
close against Frio, but they just can't seem.
Speaker 3 (35:11):
To kick a big enough of a score to get
them over the line.
Speaker 1 (35:14):
They kick a ninety plus just to just to get
him a win. That's all that. Because they've been playing
world defensive.
Speaker 3 (35:19):
They tap out at seventy always.
Speaker 1 (35:20):
Seventy four, seventy three like around there. It's annoying.
Speaker 2 (35:23):
But they have beaten the Swans in their last two
account encounters, including their comeback performance at Marvel last season,
So that leads into who are we Tippany.
Speaker 1 (35:35):
I'm gonna go Swans Swan's by fifteen. I think I
think it could be reasonably close. A lot of the matchups,
like you said, the Saints have won the last two
or two before that, were also really close. So I
don't think this once can blow him out of the park.
And it's at Marvel's. Saints are too bad at Marvel,
So I'll go spons by fifteen.
Speaker 4 (35:48):
Like I'll be really disappointed of Sidney don't win this game.
So that's why I've got Sydney by five goals.
Speaker 3 (35:52):
Yeah, I think Sydney by three goals.
Speaker 1 (35:54):
Three goals, okay, all right. Finally, the final game of
a Round eighteen is Port Adelaide verse West Coast at
the Adelaide Over four forty on Sunday. Now Lad's Port
have won the last three meetings by an average of
fifty five points. West Coasts they don't like gone with
the adelade Over. They might as well, I don't know,
maybe don't go there. So they've lost their last night
at the adelade Over, which is sad for them. You've
(36:15):
got Butters who could have a huge one again. He
had twenty seven and a goal last time. You got
George Ardis. Leo talked him up before. Actually you could
say this one, Leo if you wanted. Oh yeah, you
love my privilege to say this.
Speaker 2 (36:25):
Twenty one goals in his last six games, and he's
gone for the Coleman.
Speaker 1 (36:29):
He's gone with Coleman. Isn't he still ten behind?
Speaker 3 (36:32):
Don't worry? May kick ten in this.
Speaker 1 (36:33):
He actually could kick ten in this. You've also got
some Eagles had some positives. We've talked up sort of
different players along the way, different green shoots, different sort
of rising stars.
Speaker 2 (36:41):
No, I've had enough of that and I'm done critical.
Oh man, we've been we have been positive.
Speaker 3 (36:46):
On this show.
Speaker 2 (36:47):
Look, the young guys have shown us stuff, but they
don't do it all at once. You get Jim By
one week, you get half the other week, or you know,
you get Harry Edwards another week. I'm challenging West Coast, ye,
I know it's a wait adelaide over where they have
a two terrible record.
Speaker 3 (37:00):
I'm not saying they have to win.
Speaker 2 (37:02):
I'm saying all these young guys need to come together
in unison like the Avengers in Endgame that was a
terrible resence.
Speaker 1 (37:12):
It could be it could be the last on the
bloody lad who's that for Westcast?
Speaker 2 (37:19):
And he's got his five rings, he's got butters, Rosie
Georgiard's horn, Francis that is pretty good. And it's up
to the West Coast and guns David because because she's
like the hero that.
Speaker 3 (37:39):
Weasels his way into being the villain and his really cowardly.
Speaker 2 (37:42):
Cash I don't know whether cashcow is locky, but yeah,
I think the challenges on West Coast players to step
up here. The young players do it all at once
and really scare port.
Speaker 3 (37:53):
I want to be.
Speaker 2 (37:53):
Sitting here on the Sunday Show, being like West Coast,
I might believe, but I don't believe.
Speaker 1 (38:00):
You don't believe. There we go that I actually do
like that latter because we have been a bit too
positive when everything is falling apart. Same as they last
on the line, so and they a last on the
lader who we tip? And I know who we're going
to tip. But what's the marchin going to be? Power
to win by fifth? Power to win? All right, Marcus? Similarly,
I'm gonna go put out laid fifty. Yeah, I'm going
(38:21):
to go buy sixty. It's going to be a huge one. Yeah,
come on, West Coast. All right. That's the Round eighteen preview.
All done, All the games are done here. Let's get
into the lock of the week and the big calls.
There's a lot of pressure on that man in the
far corner because he needs to get a lock right
this week, two in a row that he's got wrong. Leo,
what is your lock but a stony past thirty?
Speaker 3 (38:44):
I'll have you know. Actually, in his last five against
West Coast he averages eighteen.
Speaker 1 (38:49):
Yeah. I think he got injured in one. I think
one of them he got injured.
Speaker 3 (38:54):
And a last is a start.
Speaker 4 (38:56):
All right, Okay, interesting, I'm on so I think that's
almost as certain to happen.
Speaker 1 (39:02):
Brisbane b Carleton be smart. He stole my lock against
Carlton smart lock. It is smart, it is smart. I'm
going to go grundy fifteen plus disposal. He's hit that
in twelve of his last sixteen games, including his last eight.
I think he's averaging about twenty two in his last eight,
So fifteen plus this weekend is my lock.
Speaker 2 (39:21):
And Marshall has Marshal has been great, but he does
give up a few possessions.
Speaker 1 (39:26):
He's more He's sort of constructs on the rock contest
more than the follow up sometimes Marshall. So, I think
Runny could have another big one, next one, the big call,
the big call, This is the this is going to happen. Three,
let me go two or three. Le's going to get
his wrong. I reckon Leo. What's yours? My mine?
Speaker 2 (39:41):
Ben Keyes at twenty plus disposals, three plus goals. He
got twenty and twenty four and two last week against
the D's. I just think the dogs will be so
worried about the three pronged attack of thriller fog and text.
You've also got rank in there that I think Keys
will be left with Bramble or JJ and Bramble or
j J. They're great off rebounding off half back, but defensively,
(40:03):
I think Keys can really get to him. I wouldn't
be surprised if he gets four.
Speaker 1 (40:07):
To be honest, you've actually convinced me a little bit
on that one.
Speaker 3 (40:09):
That's that's goods good.
Speaker 1 (40:10):
I like it. So he's gone, he's gone Keys for
his big.
Speaker 4 (40:13):
Call, and I'm trying to make a Lock and Keys
sort of.
Speaker 1 (40:23):
Reference. I'm sorry, sorry, I should I should have thought
about it a bit more.
Speaker 4 (40:29):
But my big call, boys, I've been in this industry
for a total of one and a half seasons and
you know what, you know what you know? You get
those tingles. Do you think something's going to happen? And
not a good a good kind of thing, but not
about a fl Please to tell me you're going to
talk about his about AFL. It is about AFLD, but
unfortunately for you, it's going against North Melbourne. I think
(40:51):
it's because I just think the Moburn Demons are going
to do an absolute job on on Sunday, and I
think demons by forty plus.
Speaker 1 (40:58):
He's my big call. That is nor the line is
weirdly twenty six and a half. So is that a
big call?
Speaker 3 (41:03):
But yeah, yeah, well yes, forty more than twenty six.
Speaker 1 (41:07):
No, I know, but is it big, like a big
big big, Yeah, it's a big call. No, that we
both grow a few inches and then you can start
talking about a big call. WHOA, that's a bit creepy,
he said. My big call is Grimes and twenty five
plus disposals and two goals. He's had twenty and a
goal in four in his four of his last five weeks.
He had twenty three in a goal against the Wis
(41:29):
last time they played earlier in the season. Now Leo
is annoyed that I always suck up talk up Grime Mice.
Haven't talked about him in a while, but I think
he's gonna have a big one against the Giants.
Speaker 3 (41:38):
No, I love this big call. I'm just people who
don't know.
Speaker 2 (41:41):
Stat's guy talks about grind Myers that much that he's
no longer underrated. In fact, he's overrated by because I'm
sick of hearing about Grimes from stats guy.
Speaker 1 (41:49):
He has a fetish. No, it's not a fetish.
Speaker 3 (41:51):
You've got posters up of his dreads in your in your.
Speaker 1 (41:54):
No, I'm not definitely not gunning. I'm not talking about
for his looks. I'm talking about for his game. That's
that's all I'll say.
Speaker 3 (42:00):
That's all I say about you.
Speaker 1 (42:01):
