Speaker 2 (00:11):
Go Marcus, I love it all right, tune in check
it out now.
Speaker 1 (00:16):
Well that's almost it for another AFL home and away season.
We've just got one more game to go in round
twenty four. I'm mcwall I'm in for Leam mccacamie. He
is away sunning himself somewhere, probably in Europe, I'm hearing Japan,
I'm not sure. Joined by Marcus Bizano, Leo Mohali.
Speaker 2 (00:34):
Sorry, boys, this is AFL Today Weekend Rap. How are
we I'm.
Speaker 3 (00:38):
Feeling pretty good.
Speaker 5 (00:39):
I'm excited to talk about a few I guess nothing
games turned out to be pretty exciting this weekend.
Speaker 3 (00:44):
Yeah, I'm not.
Speaker 4 (00:44):
I'm not sure whether it be happy or sad that
I'm still going to watch one more game for this season.
Speaker 1 (00:49):
Yeah, it's a bit like that, and we'll get into
all of the games.
Speaker 2 (00:52):
Of course.
Speaker 1 (00:53):

Speaker 2 (01:03):
Guys, we've got to what to cover.
Speaker 1 (01:05):
Should we just get stuck into it?
Speaker 4 (01:07):
All?
Speaker 3 (01:07):
Right?
Speaker 2 (01:08):
Okay, so we're going to start now with you.
Speaker 1 (01:09):
Thursday night, the Baggers got their final winn of the season.
They've been able to string a few together late. They've
beaten the Bombers relatively convincing by about six goals.
Speaker 2 (01:20):
They're talk us through the game.
Speaker 3 (01:23):
Well, the Blues.
Speaker 5 (01:24):
They won their final home and away game for the
first time since twenty thirteen. Now, I found that stat remarkable,
and this game was all about their midfield getting rolling again.
They were plus eleven in clearances, similar result last week
against Port Adelaide. George Hewett, he's outstanding thirty six disposals,
one goal, ten clearances and I reckon he probably locked
(01:45):
up Carlton's BNF with that performance. He's been an absolute
stare wall in that midfield. I also want to shout
out the form.
Speaker 3 (01:52):
Of frank the Tank, Big Frankie Evans.
Speaker 5 (01:54):
Three goals, nineteen disposals, five marks, five tackles.
Speaker 3 (01:57):
That's a really balanced game for a guy that you
know in.
Speaker 5 (02:00):
That half forward role where sort of Blues are crying
out for that type of player. But the main talking
point that I want to touch on in this one
the off season for the Blues TDK. He gave a
very awkward speech. I want to say on the way out,
I just I reckon ball. You might want to end
this podcast is just all the best, guys, all the best.
Speaker 2 (02:22):
That was the weird thing like that, so all the best.
Speaker 1 (02:25):
It was the whole thing was awkward, and it was
like you might as well have just come out and go, hey, guys,
I'm I'm going to the same It was so obvious.
But what do you think was worse the obviousness of
it or the awkwardness.
Speaker 5 (02:38):
I found that it was just the awkwardness. It was
like a scene out of the office. I was just
waiting for someone to look at the camera camera. It
was really weird. The other one I want to touch
on the off season watch for the Blues. Now, this
is an interesting one. Mitch McGovern was one game away
from a contract.
Speaker 3 (02:55):
Trigger about three games ago, three because he was injured.
Speaker 5 (02:58):
That's right, So I want to ask you boys, what
club does he best suit going into next season?
Speaker 3 (03:06):
I think the Doggies.
Speaker 4 (03:07):
I think it works well, and we saw down back
they struggled with the key forwards this week. That could
be an area that they can strengthen down back.
Speaker 2 (03:14):
Don't mind, hard hard to argue on that.
Speaker 1 (03:16):
The other one for me, I look at someone like
North Melbourne that are lacking that experience and they do
concede a lot of score down back, so maybe he
could help with that. And also he offers that swing
man option as well. We've seen him be able to
go forward and do well. But then again, is it
another is it another team like a Melbourne or someone
that again you think they're gonna have to be doing
(03:38):
a little bit of rebuilding coming out of this, so
that experience can help, and having somebody that's a versatile
player because he hits.
Speaker 2 (03:45):
The scoreboard when he goes forward. He was drafted as forward, wasn't.
Speaker 3 (03:48):
He pretty sure?
Speaker 1 (03:49):
Yeah, so there you go. Well, do we all agree
this is going to be a home for him? It's
gonna be definitely sure.
Speaker 5 (03:55):
My vote is West Coast because they could take anyone
at the moment, club that's not in their offseason because
they stupidly have to play another game.
Speaker 3 (04:02):
The Bombers, they weren't able to.
Speaker 5 (04:05):
Get up for Zach Merritz two fiftieth and Wally, I
actually want to bring you in here because you have
a very weird conspiracy on this.
Speaker 1 (04:12):
Look he was Obviously, if there is nothing on the line,
you wouldn't have paid him because he wasn't He wasn't fitty,
He had an injury. He was carrying it into the game.
There was no they can't make finals. There's no need
for them to worry about rolling out their one superstar
unless they wanted him to play his two fiftieth in
front of their crowd before he leaves the cub. Jeezy
(04:38):
look good in brown and gold.
Speaker 3 (04:39):
Don't make me cry Waller, Oh, he would look.
Speaker 2 (04:41):
So good in brown and gold. He looked good in
any strap.
Speaker 1 (04:44):
I think he's one of those guys that he would be.
He would top off a midfield and take them to
the next level for a few years. So it'd have
to be a team that's going to be challenging Sint Kilda. Sure,
we don't have any money left, but like someone like
a Saint Kilda or a Hawthorn that's got a lot
of youth and they are making that search, but they're
just not quite there. I think that he could make
(05:07):
a real impact on And the other thing is even
as a bombs supporter, Marks he deserves some success, doesn't he.
Speaker 4 (05:13):
He does, but.
Speaker 3 (05:14):
Hopefully it's with the bomb.
Speaker 4 (05:15):
I hate to see it anywhere else because he can
secure himself as a club legend.
Speaker 1 (05:23):
And you can you can do to look at Paul
Salmon made both team in the centuries, Essenon and Hawthorne,
so you can do both. You can come and play
one hundred games for us and be a legend of
Hawthorne as well.
Speaker 3 (05:33):
I'm not sure to feel about it.
Speaker 1 (05:35):
All right, guys, let's get into Friday night, shall we.
Let's do it so Friday Night. Collingwood Melbourne. Look, Melbourne
have shown up in a couple of these these games.
It was just a Hawthorne game where they really didn't
turn up. The rest of their month that last month
has been pretty good. I will ask this though, my
my biggest one Marks will go to you for this.
But my biggest thing here is was this more of all,
(05:59):
Collingwood could be back and we're seeing it. This is
how they win games, this is how they win finals.
Or is it they've limped over the line here against
an inferior opposition and they're not going to do anything
in September.
Speaker 2 (06:10):
That's my big question.
Speaker 4 (06:11):
Yeah, I think it all rests on the fitness of
that defense, especially with another one that we're mentioned going
out injured. So I think I don't think it's a blip.
I think it's more showing what they can do working
into September. They probably needed an extra couple of weeks
to do that, considering look, they've just played that game
and now they're going to go fresh into a finals campaign.
But at least they secured the top four. That's the
(06:32):
most important thing for Collingwood. They got the double chance.
They made it five in a row against the D's,
but boy boy, that was tense, especially for Magpie's fans,
because they trailed by three goals in that final quarter
at the start of the final quarter, so they're trying
to come back in the spirit of coming from behind,
which they normally do. But all eyes at the start
of the game, we're on ed Langdon as he went
(06:53):
straight to Nick Dakos for the second time this year.
We'll see how physical it got. Of course, Deaekos got
his fair share of a soft free kick.
Speaker 3 (07:00):
Oh possibly the it's pretty funny, but he was still great.
Speaker 4 (07:06):
He had twenty seven, so you would say that didn't work,
probably for the second time this season it didn't work
ed Langdon on Dakos, although he possibly won't pull.
Speaker 3 (07:14):
Any Brownlow votes because there were some good players.
Speaker 4 (07:17):
So is he still the favorite compared to others didn't
have a great week as well.
Speaker 1 (07:22):
I think I don't think anyone went past him. So
Dawson's not getting votes. Raln Anderson certainly are. But that
being said, you'd think that they all things just even
going into plays and at home, need a big win
to ensure finals. You would think that you could almost
lock in three and two for those those guys, they
are there, their headliners. Bally Smith will probably get votes.
(07:44):
But I think he's had enough of it. I think
he's had enough down weeks and I don't think I think
missed a few weeks.
Speaker 2 (07:49):
Yeah, exactly. I think Daekos will be winning the Brown line.
Speaker 1 (07:51):
And I think that what we see is that you
know how they if you're Underpold one year, you're Overpold
the next year. We see that often. He didn't underpol
last year. I mean, he broke the record for votes
it was just the Crips decided. They decided Crip was
worth forty five votes, So I think that there will
still be this date got injured missed one. Yeah, missus
(08:14):
to someone getting forty five votes like the.
Speaker 2 (08:17):
Beer feeling that maybe so for me, I have him
as the favorite and I think you'll be winning the medal.
Speaker 4 (08:24):
I definitely think so as well. He's the favorite accord
to the odds as well. So fair play. But it
was actually the leaders, the ones with more experience that
actually stepped up for calling the final quarter and one
of my poort out was Captain Scott Penalry eight disposals
all at one hundred, which is just great from your leader.
But it was also about the return of form of
(08:46):
Jordan de Gowie who's formed right at the time of finals.
Twenty six disposals in a goal and that's a scary
proposition for any side that's come on the face Collingwood
and Jordan de Gowie because he's hitting form right right
at the right time of the season. But it did
come with a little bit of a sour and the
result because Jeremy how injured is groin and boys, how
(09:07):
big of an intro impact could that be to Collingwood
finals campaign, particularly if he misses the first fully against Adelaide.
Speaker 5 (09:14):
I think that's a massive impact we've seen now for
I think the last four times he hasn't played out
a full AFL game. I just think when he goes down,
they just lack that sort of interceptor that leader down back.
It exposes Darcy Moore and Billy Phantom a little bit
more so.
Speaker 3 (09:31):
I think it's a massive out for him.
Speaker 1 (09:32):
I think the big concern here so he's probably going
to miss the qualifying final where they travel to Adelaide.
So at least you can you can cover for that
because you go, Okay, we know we're not going to
have him. Then if they let's say they come back
the other way and they've got a GWS or a
Hawthorne on the MCG if they lose, if they win, great,
he will be fit and ready to go for a PREVM.
Speaker 2 (09:53):
My issue at.
Speaker 1 (09:55):
The moment with how is it the potential of him
getting injured mid game? When he went down against Hawthorne,
their back line was in disarray and they got absolutely smashed.
Because Darcy Moore is not a one on one stopping defender.
He is he is there to come in third man up, flotocross, intercept,
(10:17):
get the ball, use the ball out defense few he's not.
He is not your one on one guy to go
up against the big, big key forward. So if he
comes into a game and then injures himself during it,
that's where it's really going to hurt Collingwood and in general,
missing him.
Speaker 2 (10:37):
Missing the guy's a start.
Speaker 4 (10:39):
I think with the double chances, whether you just save
him for that second game, I don't.
Speaker 1 (10:43):
Think you just we've seen it. We see it so much,
don't you don't take the risk. If it's an elimination final,
go at. If it is a premium yep, grand final,
of course, it's qualifying final. You got two chances at this.
Do not whatever you do, do not risk him.
Speaker 2 (11:02):
He's my thinking. So but I would I'd love him
to be fitting fig finals. He's not. I'll tell you what.
Speaker 1 (11:08):
For a team that most people don't like, they've got
a lot of likable people in that side the Pendles.
How these guys are actually they're likable footballers depends on
clubby support. But yeah, you guys, it's like Esen and
Carton fans are probably just looking at me going you're
an idiot.
Speaker 4 (11:27):
Anyway, We'll move to more positive news for the Demons,
in particular to finish the campaign, because I thought Gorne,
Oliver Petrarca and Bailey Fritz who who's had a bad
few weeks, they all returned to form and they played
particularly well during that night. I thought Gorne got the
better of Cameron as well on the night. But what
can we expect to see from Melbourne next season? A
little double prong question, and do we see any Demons
(11:48):
getting all Australian jacket at the end of the year.
So you're looking at maybe Gorne and Cozy of the
two that are floating around.
Speaker 3 (11:54):
There's a lot of unknown with Melbourne.
Speaker 5 (11:56):
I think there's going to be a lot of turnover
with the cart list and I think because of that,
I'm leaning towards a bottom four, bottom four season, maybe
bottom six at best, And in terms of the AA stuff,
I think they'll give it to Gone.
Speaker 3 (12:10):
I don't know. Look, I prefer Grundy in that position.
Speaker 2 (12:14):
They probably played they play two Rush reckon.
Speaker 3 (12:16):
I don't know if they will.
Speaker 1 (12:17):
I don't I honestly I don't think that the most
years the Rucks aren't having good enough years for them
both to be selected. So and yeah, anyway, especially if
you're going to select the that would go into the ruck,
if you want to say it's positional a most teams
don't play two rucks. They play a ruck in a
foward that goes into the ruck, So you don't need
to I'm with you. I'd have Grundy ahead of him,
(12:39):
But yeah, they probably will because he's an interesting one.
I thought they would, but he's dropped off of it.
There's only so much space in that. For one, they're
going to put a midfielder there, so they put like
a mid four Likeeny or a Bond something like that.
Speaker 2 (12:52):
Ranking.
Speaker 1 (12:52):
But I think that they're going to play Elliott and
Ranking probably I agree, and then Cosey misses out. There'll
be two of Elliott Rank and Cosey, I think, And
I use the look I think think.
Speaker 2 (13:05):
I think he has to be Age and then and
then and then Pilthorpe.
Speaker 1 (13:11):
Obviously Jess and Jack Hunston would be the three. So
there are your two keys in your mid size justice for.
Speaker 3 (13:16):
Benking, he's been pretty good this year.
Speaker 1 (13:19):
He has been anyway, anyway, should we look at Friday
night the second game let's do it all right, I
am poured out of a gold coast. Mate, Well, you
saw this coming. Anyone could see this pretty sure the most.
And we had a fair bit of chat in the
office here about this because the most emotional football team
ever in the history of football is Ken includes Port.
(13:42):
We know that it's that it's their whole brand. And
what they did is that they did it again. They
showed up for Kennon, for Travis bog and it was incredible.
Speaker 3 (13:54):
Who would have thought.
Speaker 1 (13:55):
Got some help from from the the process. But mate,
they've held on and they've won the game by four points.
Speaker 5 (14:04):
They did it in an absolute nail by two legends
of well the club and the game, Boky and Ken.
Speaker 3 (14:11):
And I think it was the leaders. You could tell that,
you know.
Speaker 2 (14:13):
Butter's, Rosie Georgiardisi's guys, they just.
Speaker 3 (14:15):
Wanted to win this one. They were doing everything.
Speaker 5 (14:18):
Butter's was superb thirty five disposals, eight marks, eight tackles
and five clearances. And Rosie as well with thirty four
a goal, five marks, seven tackles and six clearances, so
that those two were just everywhere. They really beat up
on Ralan Anderson. I thought as a duo at least,
and Georgiardi's was up and about. He kicked four goals
and he had six marks, and he just had a
(14:39):
real presence every time it went inside fifty. So I
enjoyed his game. And Boky, We've got to touch on Boky.
Speaker 3 (14:45):
He was leaving it all out there.
Speaker 5 (14:46):
He had twenty two disposals and a game high nine tackles.
I thought his run was really good, and he was
playing more midfield because why not. He could just get
himself in there nothing to lose, and I would have
liked it to see him kick a goal with yes
as well, Yeah, I know about the square.
Speaker 2 (15:01):
Do you know what happened though the game?
Speaker 1 (15:03):
The game, there was too much pressure on the game,
so you couldn't set him up. If they were winning
or losing by six goals, they would have pushed him forward,
set it up. There'd be a lot most pressure on
the game, but it was so much more important for
them to win than him to keep goals.
Speaker 2 (15:16):
So I think they made the right decisions.
Speaker 1 (15:18):
Just before we go onto Gold Coast question without notice,
he spoke about Butters. He was incredible mat the way
he plays and throws himself at the football, but the
durability of him is insane.
Speaker 2 (15:28):
If you were pulled out of eating you think it's a.
Speaker 1 (15:30):
Fifty to fifty that he leaves in a year's time
when he's restricted free agent. Would you proactively trade him
now to get a lot for him, and you would
get a lot for him, You're probably getting two first
round picks. Or would you back yourselves in for him
to stay. I think you're back yourself in.
Speaker 4 (15:46):
I think they will get a lot of backlash, considering
from the fans because Butters has already said that post game,
I'll be a platelade next year.
Speaker 3 (15:53):
So if they go and force the.
Speaker 2 (15:54):
Trade, that's only one year. So if they they again,
if they.
Speaker 4 (15:57):
Forced it this year, I think off the back of
those comments to put load, fans won't be too happy.
Speaker 1 (16:01):
If okay, if you're if you're, if you're a port fan,
and they come out and they go, we think he
was going to leave next year, and yeah, this is
this would be unheard of. We think he's going to
leave next year. He's going to leave next year free agent.
We wouldn't get anything, So we're training him this year.
If I'm a fan and my club said that, I'll
be okay with it? Yeah, yeah, I don't mind just
sacrificing him on your lost for one year to get.
Speaker 4 (16:21):
This is the most emotional football club.
Speaker 2 (16:23):
There's no way they'll do it because they're em it is.
Speaker 5 (16:26):
It is an interesting question because I think they got
to try and convince him to stay because if he goes,
the gap in that midfield is too big.
Speaker 2 (16:33):
We've seen Rosie a half back.
Speaker 5 (16:35):
He's been a revelation down there and I think he's
split between half back in midfield. You lose that with
Butters going, you'll have to play midfield. Bergman will have
to play more midfield, which is fine, but again it's
just losing the depth, it's losing the star power.
Speaker 3 (16:48):
I think you have to back him into stay.
Speaker 5 (16:50):
So gold Coast, Gold Coast now they failed the test
and they fail.
Speaker 2 (16:54):
They failed it last week against GWS.
Speaker 3 (16:56):
Could nothing again? Could finals? Couldn't they?
Speaker 5 (16:59):
Or oh look they've they've blown a chance for Top
four as simple as that. They should have won this
game on paper and they should go in and beat Essendon.
And I want to touch on Dimmer because it just
felt like every time they pan to him.
Speaker 3 (17:11):
After a free kick or a port goal, he could
not fathom what was happening out there.
Speaker 5 (17:16):
And to quote him after the game, you're playing for
a finals campaign. If you need me to sit there
and give a motivational speech to want to play your
first finals campaign in your organization's history, then you're playing
the wrong game.
Speaker 3 (17:29):
It's such a good pot Why do we make of
angry Dimmer?
Speaker 1 (17:31):
I loved it that message that is absolutely fantastic. And
he spoke about they know they're building something, they know
they have something there, but they should show it. They
do have something special. I think that they have potentially
have something special.
Speaker 2 (17:47):
That's fine. A lot of teams have. The potential word.
Speaker 1 (17:50):
Is a horrible word in football, and at the moment,
that's what the Suns are. They're potentially a good football
time and they making finals is enough. Like they were
standing at the barrel top four. They need to win
a final and they're not going to They're going to
make the finals. They're going to go to Free and
they're going to get whacked because Fremantle.
Speaker 2 (18:08):
Showed that Okay, no, no, we're ready, We're ready, we
are ready.
Speaker 1 (18:11):
Now they came into the Dog's house and they and
they annihilated them.
Speaker 2 (18:16):
Across across different lines on the ground.
Speaker 1 (18:18):
So I think gold Coast this is just a really
painful drawn out into the season for them. I think
that they will beat Essenon that's going to be just
a horror watch. And then I think that they'll go
to Free and they'll get pants.
Speaker 3 (18:34):
I could not agree more. Oh yeah, I agree as well.
Speaker 4 (18:36):
I think gold Coast the struggle for finals thing, they
needed that top four chance with a couple.
Speaker 2 (18:40):
Of wins, imagine that.
Speaker 1 (18:41):
And the other thing with top four is a guarantee
at least you're getting a home final as well.
Speaker 2 (18:45):
And I think they play so well at home.
Speaker 1 (18:48):
How they're going to be traveling after like playing two
teams that had nothing to pay for except port. Obviously
the emotion got to be better than that, all right,
have to be. Let's get on Saturday's games. Saturday was fun.
It was Saturday was a fine day of footy when
we thought it was going to be like the worst
day because there wasn't any pressure on. It was just
like these games don't really matter that much. They're not
(19:10):
going to affect anything. North Melbourne pushed out of eight.
That was by a couple of kicks. I was by
thirteen points. They pushed out of ade all day. It was
thoroughly enjoyable markets.
Speaker 4 (19:19):
It sure wasn't It means Adelaid's scull their first Miner
Premiership since twenty seventeen. Obviously they made the Grand Final
that year, but we all know what happened.
Speaker 2 (19:30):
Get it back, bring it back.
Speaker 4 (19:32):
But it was the club's best ever win lost ratio.
Speaker 3 (19:35):
So does that mean.
Speaker 4 (19:37):
Coach of the year after what we've seen if you
had to pencil it at the end of the record
overlay season.
Speaker 3 (19:42):
Is he the coach of the season?
Speaker 2 (19:43):
That is a great question.
Speaker 3 (19:44):
It has to be.
Speaker 4 (19:44):
Surely that went for fifteen top.
Speaker 3 (19:47):
I think he has to be just purely on that line.
Speaker 2 (19:49):
But he is.
Speaker 1 (19:50):
He is and you also look at his team and
what he's playing with. He has a good team, but
it's he doesn't have the best list. He's got this
no name defense that he's turned into an all star
back six like that.
Speaker 2 (20:03):
They started no one.
Speaker 1 (20:04):
No one was talking about Warral or Hinge or Keen,
but no one was talking about any of them and
they're just what they've done down there is fantastic. I
actually at the start of the season, Oh, I had
I think and that's I was just you know when
you're just so wrong on something you've got of arf
and I was just so far off the mark on
(20:26):
that outside of Ken of course. But yeah, all right,
so I think we all agree he's been fantastic. They
have been great. They've cured their minor premiership. Back to
the game though it.
Speaker 4 (20:37):
Was it was an absolute shoetout, which we want to
see under the roofs. That's what every game points two
hundred points.
Speaker 3 (20:44):
We had a couple of those this week as well.
Speaker 4 (20:45):
But North actually led the disposal count, they led the
inside of his account, they dominated the clearances. But yet
again Adelaide for the second week in a row, Collingwood
and now North Melbourne and all other major stats go
ahead and win a close game. So but the question
I'm going to post to you boys is like, I
don't think that holds up in September when you're playing
(21:05):
the best sides in the competition. And we asked how
ruthless they could be in the midweek show. Did we
get our answer?
Speaker 3 (21:11):
I don't think we did.
Speaker 1 (21:12):
No.
Speaker 5 (21:12):
I mean well, going to the last quarter they got
up by about thirty eight points and you kind of go,
all right, this is their chance put the foot on
the gas a statement they'll lead him for six or
seven all games. And then North were just like, now
we're going to drop four on in the space of
five minutes and made it a game out of nowhere.
Speaker 3 (21:28):
And I don't know, Adelaide.
Speaker 5 (21:30):
They were in such great form after that Hawks game
and the performance against West Coast and then Collingwood and North.
Speaker 3 (21:37):
They win all three, but not any of them were convinced.
Speaker 1 (21:40):
So where I think that we get to a stage
and I truly believe that there is games that the
piers it's a lot harder to get up for. This
would be one of them because they had top two
locked and all of that. But the Collingwood one, because
it's interesting, it's like a Collingwood back, So then that
was actually a good win. Hawthorne were playing good footy
(22:01):
around the time they went there. They played good footy.
Speaker 2 (22:03):
They got the jump on them, so we know the
Hawthorne win was a good win.
Speaker 1 (22:06):
And Adam I got back over the top of them,
won the game really well. Colinwood was not so sure
whether it was and the other two weren't weren't good
at all. I'm I'm very confident that they are going
to come out and play really well in finals. That
that at I had oval is a nightmare to have
(22:27):
to travel to them play. It's a thinner ground, it's
a thinner longer round, so the dimensions are different, and
their crowd is just relentless up their incredible crowd. It
is intimidating, it is. It's just it's loud. Their abuse,
they boo, they just yell. It's it's right mate.
Speaker 3 (22:46):
It's like all as good as what you want to see.
Speaker 4 (22:49):
And obviously they might have found the answer with Rankling
Rankin's absence, and whether that is James Petling or Ben
Keyes who both kicked three Thriller also kicked three for
the Crows. I think Petelind could be a little bit
of the answer on the scoreboard front as well, particularly
when you're looking for goals from midfield. Keys is already
playing predominantly forward, but I thought Cooper Trembath as well
(23:10):
for North Normlan yet again hat trick at three, hat
trick of three, three, three and three in his three
AFL games. And look, that's going to provide something different
for Ruse fans looking forward next season and it could
just take the pressure off Nick Larky as well as
the man who has to kick bags.
Speaker 2 (23:26):
And I started calling the duck two point zero on
the week go, I'm just on I there.
Speaker 1 (23:33):
Let me ask you this, do we think obviously with
rank and the likelihood is we're not going to see
him and they don't want to be going back through
the long way, so they want to get that win
and then they can just put a.
Speaker 2 (23:43):
Line through this and move on. Josha Shalley.
Speaker 1 (23:46):
We're thinking we'll play the first or second finale. So
then do you need to if you happy, if you're
the Adia Crows, do you go we've got a big three,
we've got keys, we've got Rashalli and then we'll just
rotate obviously Mint through there. Or do you still try
and put a forward focus into someone like Apetling as
another option.
Speaker 4 (24:05):
I think you're still going to put a forward focus
in because he's missed a lot of footyge Josh Rochelle.
You can't just expect him to come back in first
week fours like Atmosphere and then kick two or three
goals and be the X factor that Raykin is. I
know he has that in him, but without playing any
footy for large part of the year.
Speaker 2 (24:21):
Yeah, it's very true.
Speaker 3 (24:21):
It's too harsh on him.
Speaker 1 (24:22):
I think Joshua Schali also has the ability to affect
a game with four or five touches.
Speaker 2 (24:27):
Like at eight.
Speaker 1 (24:27):
You don't need him to be your guy that's just
presenting at every opportunity, having fifteen or twenty in kicking three.
But he can pop up and be that X factor
eight and Peteland can be consistent down there.
Speaker 2 (24:40):
So very very good.
Speaker 4 (24:43):
But what Thoutricians? Jerry was fantastic North Melbourne. You had
twenty five to spoilers. Would he be the Australian ruck
He's put himself, He's put his hand up there in
the last game of the year to be like boys,
did you forget about me? Because he was showing a
bit of fight and energy in the first quarter. He
laid three monster tackles. He had seven clearances as well,
so that definitely does help his all Australian hopes. But
(25:03):
I just think that that suspension sort of killed him.
He has to make the squad there and grund his form.
He probably makes the squad. It has to make the
squad as one of the three weapons in the squad.
Speaker 2 (25:11):
I think it is very lineball between Grundy, Jerry and.
Speaker 1 (25:15):
Gorn, which means they'll probably give it to Gorn. Yeah,
you're right, but it should be Runny.
Speaker 2 (25:19):
Yeah, I agree with that. It definitely should be Grundy.
Speaker 4 (25:21):
But the stand rule, it sort of took all the
juice out of the game, didn't it. Because North Melbourne
were coming they Loki mentioned.
Speaker 2 (25:29):
Was it two piece the stand rule?
Speaker 3 (25:31):
Not sure, yeah, but it was.
Speaker 4 (25:32):
It was the one lad that really really killed the game,
coming four goals in five minutes and Finos Sullivan was
penalized and that threatened another final quarter months to comeback
at Marvel Stadium. So it was on. But then James
Peetling he took advantage of that fifty meter penalty JP
our boy and then be kicked the goal.
Speaker 2 (25:52):
Just the worst rule. It's going to go, It has
to go, it has to go.
Speaker 3 (25:54):
Blood has all right.
Speaker 1 (25:58):
Now, Richmond John Yeah, okay, this this this wasn't.
Speaker 3 (26:02):
This wasn't when we said fun game. We kind of
met North out of la and then and.
Speaker 2 (26:07):
Then at the night there was a bit of a comeback.
Speaker 1 (26:10):
It was a good first half. But yeah, I Geelong
just did what they had to do. They got the
job done.
Speaker 3 (26:17):
Injuries. It can just no injury.
Speaker 1 (26:18):
Yeah, one by thirty nine points. I just just for
we expected they got through their injuries. This looks incredible.
Speaker 3 (26:23):
They are just it's what you want going into finals. Well,
it always looks good when they don't list it.
Speaker 2 (26:27):
Yeah, well that's very very good. But talk us through
this camera.
Speaker 3 (26:32):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (26:32):
So we thought Richmond would sort of fall over the
line going into the off season, and they did in
that first half unfortunately, And it was the usual guys
for the Cats. Bas and Homes in that midfield. They're
run and carry was excellent. I thought Bas with thirty
four disposals, ten inside fifties and Homes with twenty six
disposals alongside six hundred and seventy seven meters gained.
Speaker 3 (26:53):
Look, you can read into meters gained all you want.
Speaker 5 (26:56):
I think he's run and carry homes that he provides
is effective in playing a fun half game. But what
I really enjoy about this Cat's midfield is that those
guys can go out and be the attacking dudes. They
can be the offensive firepower, and you've got Tom Atkins.
They're putting in the grip, putting in the defensive the
hard work that needs to be done, and he broke
Scott Salwood's tackle record in a season, So Scott Salwood
(27:18):
with two hundred and two tackles. Tom Atkins now two
hundred and five. He had nine in this game, and
just love the way he plays it really. Probably they
compliment each other. It's a nice balanced.
Speaker 3 (27:27):
Midfield that they have there.
Speaker 5 (27:29):
And looking at the second half, Richmond did win it,
but he kind of just felt the Cats took the
foot off the gas a little bit, probably just not
wanting to get injured, like you said, Marcus. But for
the Tigers, I will give a couple of quick shout outs.
I really like the game of Sam Banks. Thirty disposals,
ten marks. I think he's turning into a really nice
(27:50):
sort of player going forward for the Tigers.
Speaker 4 (27:52):
Post question, has he been Richmond's probably other than lost it,
has he been Richmond's best? Oh, I think he's definitely
the Taranto surely. I think I think Sam Banks as
well up there top five best and fairest, top three best,
top three.
Speaker 2 (28:05):
Yeah, he will, He'll we right up there.
Speaker 5 (28:07):
He's had a fantastic season. And Tom Brown as well.
Twenty disposals, seven intercept possessions. He's another one that he's
developing nicely for.
Speaker 2 (28:15):
The time part of the future.
Speaker 5 (28:17):
But on the Cats, and I want to have a
bit of a discussion here. So they haven't won against
the top eight side since June seven, that was Gold
Coast at the category.
Speaker 3 (28:27):
They've belted the bottom nine sides.
Speaker 5 (28:29):
And lost to g WS and Brisbane since that date.
Do we think the Cats have been tested well enough
going into finals compared to the other teams around them.
Speaker 4 (28:39):
That'll be their first game in two months against the
top eight side, if they win, if they win, if
they win, So yeah, I just think it hasn't. I
think the picture although you look at it, you like, great,
they've secured the top two spot home qualifying final, but
you also want to play those teams like Gibuus and
Brisbane which they lost against. Yeah, but they want to
grab wins and both of those were at home.
Speaker 2 (28:59):
I'm pretty sure, Yeah, so they were.
Speaker 1 (29:01):
Now, if you look at it from John's perspective, this
is this is it. It presents like fully fit list, flying,
just winning games for fun going into finals.
Speaker 2 (29:13):
Double chance all that. I'll put this lens on.
Speaker 1 (29:16):
It haven't been tested and we don't know Chris Scott's
poked about this, he goes, there's no way of proving
it either way, and he's right, you don't know. He goes,
if we fail, then questions will be asked. If we don't,
then it probably shows that it didn't matter if we
do well. But they're not playing at home, they're playing
on the MCJ, so they missed that. They're playing against
one of the two teams that have beaten them in
(29:37):
this back half of the year. And then on top
of that, the likelihood is they're probably going to cop
a Giants team the following week if they do lose to.
Speaker 2 (29:46):
Brisbane who love playing them.
Speaker 1 (29:48):
So it actually sets up all Hawthorne team that those
games are always tough. So Geelong's path is not just
a winning and it's it's a little bit difficult, and
I would be I think it would be an absolute
shock if they went out in straight sets, But I'm
just saying you can see how it could happen.
Speaker 3 (30:06):
It's a tougher path, for sure.
Speaker 2 (30:07):
It is one hundred percent.
Speaker 3 (30:08):
Going into finals.
Speaker 5 (30:09):
That's like my one just query on the Cats because
they've done what they.
Speaker 1 (30:13):
Needed to feel like they're a professional enough outfit and
they just the way that cub is just run.
Speaker 2 (30:19):
Yeah, I think they'll be fine, but you just don't know.
It's going to be an interesting watch.
Speaker 3 (30:24):
Definitely, lads, do you know what the asex means? Mate?
Speaker 2 (30:27):
Of course?
Speaker 3 (30:27):
And in fact, oh, let Marcus explain, I throw me
under the bustle yo. To be honest, I have no clue.
Oh what a surprise.
Speaker 2 (30:34):
It's actually the Australian Securities Exchanged. Ah.
Speaker 5 (30:36):
Well, I'll speak for Marcus on that one and say
I'm pretty clueless with that stuff.
Speaker 2 (30:41):
Well, lucky for you.
Speaker 1 (30:42):
Stockhead is a free website which gives you punting stock
advice through the AX.
Speaker 3 (30:46):
Where can we check them out?
Speaker 1 (30:47):
Check them out vice stockhead dot com dot you. Saturday
Night West Coast Sydney. West Coast started well and was like, oh,
this is going to be fun, and then first half
was good and then Sydney got rolling and absolutely demolished
them in the second half.
Speaker 4 (31:00):
And look, I think it's it doesn't really hang praise
on West Coast because the school board looks ugly. But
the Eagles, they definitely did show plenty of really good
signs in that first half. They let it the main
break by by seven points, so that they kicked the
first three of the game as well.
Speaker 3 (31:12):
They did.
Speaker 4 (31:12):
Yeah, so you could tell Sydney or off it And
that led Dean Cox to give him a huge spray,
a massive spray and boys, which coach in the AFL
would you most be afraid of copping a spray from?
Speaker 5 (31:24):
To be kings I reckon it's kings He could just
put you just because of the pops, put you in
his arm and.
Speaker 2 (31:30):
Just squeeze until you pass out.
Speaker 5 (31:32):
I think Dimmer could be a shout as I'm angry
DeMar you would not want to get on his wrong.
Speaker 3 (31:36):
Side talking about pipes.
Speaker 4 (31:37):
Look, Beveridge, oh you got a bit angry.
Speaker 2 (31:40):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (31:40):
And also there's a little bit of like I reckon,
it could get a bit unhinged. So it's almost you
don't know what's quite going to happen. Maybe there is
a bit of bevo. But then I was thinking about this.
We were talking about his early off camera and I
was the same. I was like, Kingsley, but is there
a world in which it's somebody that seems like a
nice guy?
Speaker 2 (31:58):
And then he fled like Chris Fagan.
Speaker 1 (32:01):
Fagan, someone like that that you're not expecting if they
actually turned that on you'll be like, all right, all right,
I reckon if Sammy Mitchell lit up the Hawks, I
reckon someone like that. That's just presenting really well in
the media. He's letting the guys Salvi braid. He's embraced this,
you know this, this it's almost like it's a tiptop
(32:22):
culture down at Hawthorne has embraced all that. If they
actually flipped the switch one day and lost it, I
think that'd be scary.
Speaker 4 (32:28):
You know, one thing for sure, it isn't Brad Scott.
But were back on the game, Sydney turned on the gas.
They kicked, like you mentioned ware, they kicked thirteen second
half goals to one in that second half, so and
it was that one hundred and eighteen points they kicked
the Sydney sswes and it was their highest score of
the season. They even chuck Nick Blaker down forward and
he kicked a couple of goals, hit two goals, three
of them. Yeah, so that was fun. Maybe something you
(32:50):
can look forward to next season. Throw the Magnets around
sort of trial a few things. Versatility which can Yeah, one,
he's definitely got the potential to do that with his
with his flare, but I think you'd prefer him off
the half back, but Papley was a big momentum shifter,
particularly in that second half.
Speaker 3 (33:03):
He really took the game on his back.
Speaker 4 (33:05):
He had twenty seven disposals and three goals in arguably
one of the best games of his career.
Speaker 5 (33:09):
He also had a ten center bouts attend, so that's
up on what he normally has, which I think again
versatility for next year.
Speaker 4 (33:17):
When you look at those sort of gals like the Cauzes,
like even if you chuck a Cam Rayn or a
Charlie Cameron Jake Stringer in the midfield, He's that sort
of type that can change a.
Speaker 1 (33:25):
Game going in the midfield. Now, I like it, I
really really like it. I think that he is there
absolute match win, a X factor. He's so explosive and
the way he celebrates and gets the rest of the
team up is a perometer is he absolutely is, and
I think someone like that that can change your game
off his own boot one.
Speaker 2 (33:44):
I'll give him some time through the midfield.
Speaker 1 (33:46):
It doesn't have to be all of it, but if
you can get him through sort of thirty forty percent
of midfield time, it's it's beneficial.
Speaker 4 (33:51):
Absolutely and I think he will be in competition with
Gordon for the best on ground. He had thirty six
and two, but he was great throughout the whole game,
Earl Gordon and look a bit of a sour finish
to the season. And it's the worst ever record one
and twenty two. So that means that the first team
to win just one game for the season since g
B Wes in twenty thirteen. And I think prior to
(34:12):
that it was I think it was around the nineteen
seventy eight. I believe it was the other one game
win in.
Speaker 3 (34:17):
The seventy eight I think so no, no.
Speaker 4 (34:20):
Before no there that was a year.
Speaker 1 (34:22):
Yeah, there would be something there, but in between them,
they could be. There was a there was a sin
Kilda team, there was a fitzroyd the fitz Troy team
that I'm sure the fitz roy team only won one
game before the merge.
Speaker 3 (34:34):
Before they moved the bridge. Yeah, that's a good show.
Speaker 1 (34:36):
And then there was a really bad skills point is
it doesn't happen often.
Speaker 3 (34:40):
Yeah, the bottom point is their craft. You don't want
that record.
Speaker 1 (34:42):
You don't want that record at all, and especially not
a proud, rich cub like West Coast. This is not
they bottom out, but they don't usually like bottom out
of dis badly.
Speaker 3 (34:52):
For this long.
Speaker 4 (34:53):
Yeah, and in credit to the fans, they rocked up
every week, they put up great numbers and well they
won't be repaid by Oscar Allen, who was request.
Speaker 3 (35:02):
To move to Brisbane. Don't have the club requested a movement.
Speaker 4 (35:05):
But although in saying that, it's not all doom and
gloom for West Coast because I think Joe Shanahan will
be more than an adequate replacement for Oscar. That because
he kicked three goals and he's been one of the
eagles best in a dark end of the season.
Speaker 2 (35:19):
No, that's very very good shout with Oscar Allen. Though,
I mean, he didn't do.
Speaker 1 (35:23):
The TDK awkward speech, but it was like it was
the worst kept secret we knew it was he was going.
Speaker 4 (35:30):
I don't know, he didn't have to do the awkward
speech though, so he had those awkward meetings.
Speaker 1 (35:35):
Meetings already got them by the way, I don't know,
I don't I don't know the role that's going to go.
That's Logan Morris's FORLL gone now, so it's had that
he's going to be a support. I hope they're not
painting too much because he's there. He's going to be
there to support. He hasn't been getting on the Parker
on like I don't. I don't know if it's such
a great signing for Brisbane movie.
Speaker 3 (35:53):
Really I think I think it's an excellent sign.
Speaker 2 (35:55):
So you think it's for me.
Speaker 1 (35:57):
It's all about the money and how much they're paying him,
and then the figures that were originally getting thrown around,
which were close to a million. If they're paying and
that I think they're overpaying.
Speaker 4 (36:07):
Well, I think they're still get I think you still
getting out of hip hood. If they're both wiring.
Speaker 5 (36:11):
I think the question mark is whether he could stay fit.
I think I think he can. I know he's had
his issues, but I think maybe a change of environment
could could do in wonders in terms of healthy.
Speaker 3 (36:22):
So next year they're going to be good.
Speaker 2 (36:23):
They're just good every day there every year. What is it?
They just they might be going three a rogue. We
don't know, we don't know.
Speaker 1 (36:30):
All right, Then we get to Sunday and what a
treat we were given on Sunday.
Speaker 2 (36:35):
There was three games that.
Speaker 1 (36:36):
Were separated properly by time you could watch all three
nice little break for dinner between the last two.
Speaker 3 (36:43):
It was.
Speaker 2 (36:43):
It was the perfect scheduling. They finally got one out
of it.
Speaker 1 (36:47):
So we started with Gwos and Kilda and of course
Sint Kilda like made this a game the most thing
ever they nearly got Their Giants were good enough, led
by their skipper. Green is just he is exactly what
you want in a captain.
Speaker 2 (37:04):
He's like, if.
Speaker 5 (37:05):
You're a Giants fan and you're watching that, it's like, yes,
that's my captain. That is leadership personified. So he has
seventeen disposals, four goals, two goals in the last, but
it was his two epic marks. The first was a
specky to have a shot.
Speaker 3 (37:19):
And then I think he missed it.
Speaker 5 (37:21):
Saints take the kickout and Toby Green is just running
back with the flight saying no, this is.
Speaker 3 (37:25):
Not Jonathan.
Speaker 2 (37:28):
Toby.
Speaker 5 (37:28):
It was phenomenal and yeah, it just personifies leadership and
I think your captain has to be doing that kind
of stuff if like you want to be a Series
finals team. So he was excellent and the game overall
was pleasantly fun. Like we go into it thinking, as
you mean, it is a classic Ross the boss master class.
Speaker 3 (37:46):
Making it interesting.
Speaker 2 (37:47):
GWS did jump them though they hit the first four
of the.
Speaker 5 (37:50):
Game, but credit to the Saints, they really came back
in that second quarter to make it an even game,
and it kind of went blow for blow a little bit.
The momentum sort of shit between the sides. One goal here,
two goals there, back and forth. The tsunami did get
rolling at different stages. Tom Green to perb thirty three disposals,
thirteen clearances.
Speaker 3 (38:10):
He led the game for clearances by I think four
or five every week.
Speaker 5 (38:15):
Does it every week, just gets his hands in an
unders and then he can feed the guys like Ash
Windfield and Callahan who again all superb for the Giants.
And with the Saints they did rally. They were good,
they were good, and they were led by Darcy Wilson
who had a breakout game five goals, twenty three disposals
for the Speeds that I did not see that coming.
(38:35):
But it's just another young Saint that you could sort
of give the tick to and they can maybe build
something around these young guys.
Speaker 3 (38:42):
You never know, you know.
Speaker 2 (38:44):
They are putting together.
Speaker 1 (38:45):
I think that people need to look a little bit
closer at the sin killed at least in some of
these players. Players you spoke about Wilson Piers, like Cooper, Sharman,
Win Hagen, these guys, Philip, these players are all potentially
so they have got a lot of them and they're
adding some huge pieces to their team.
Speaker 2 (39:05):
They're they're being able to bring in t DK, re
signing Nas, resigning Nas. They're bringing in Ryan as well,
Liam Ryan from all reports.
Speaker 3 (39:14):
Which is going to Oh yes, Liam, right, I think
you met Luke Ryan.
Speaker 1 (39:17):
No, no, I think Luke Ryan's happy Ryan, who is
a tremendous kick. He's field kicking his elite. So bringing
somebody in at that level and that's what you want.
You want to league kickers that can move the ball
and they have a lot of pace, they will quick
on the ground.
Speaker 2 (39:35):
So Sin Kilda's future is exciting.
Speaker 1 (39:38):
They just it's just you don't want to see the Hey,
we finished off well again an honorable loss.
Speaker 2 (39:43):
You've got to move on from all that.
Speaker 3 (39:44):
It's going to become something meaning.
Speaker 2 (39:46):
Absolutely we're playing finals, we're winning.
Speaker 5 (39:47):
Finals and as you mentioned, Wallely GWS really clutched up
late with four of the last five goals. We gave
plautits to Toby Green absolutely superb. Now on the Giants,
and I'm playing into Marcus's delusion here.
Speaker 4 (40:03):
The evidence is right here, joints, they're coming there.
Speaker 3 (40:07):
I'm telling you.
Speaker 2 (40:08):
Dan Hordle back in the VFL.
Speaker 5 (40:10):
Brent Daniels of course, twenty nine disposals, nine clearances, get
through the game, perfect Buckley test on the weekend.
Speaker 3 (40:16):
Should be back for finals.
Speaker 5 (40:17):
Cally and Stringer were two weeks away last week pushing
for the first week of finals, and as well, just
a question mark on Hogan. He is TBC on the
injury list, but just a little bit of a watch
if he is fit to come back. Are they in
a weird way like a side no other than you,
Marcus Aside that no one's talking about that.
Speaker 3 (40:36):
Can go deep into finals?
Speaker 2 (40:37):
Yeah? Absolute.
Speaker 1 (40:39):
So the thing is for them that they will they
get these players back. This is this is the team
that are going to benefit off this week. By before finals,
they'll be wrapped that the buyers come, they are going
to restock. They will fancy themselves to beat Hawthorne and
we're talking like gold Coast will beat Eston and going
to that right they will be and then they don't
(41:00):
care where they go. They'd be happy to go to Brisbane,
but then if Geelong lose to Brisbane.
Speaker 2 (41:04):
They would be licking their lips.
Speaker 1 (41:06):
Imagine getting to pay Geelong, a team that you have
owned for the best part of five years. Imagine getting
to pay them in a semi to move into a
prelium and then they're happy to go anywhere, and then
they'll be rolling. And you're playing a team that's had
week off, week on, week off, and we know that
there's been you know, it used to be ninety five
(41:27):
percent of teams that won the first week we'd end
up in the Grand Final. It's something like sixty percent
since that buys come in now.
Speaker 2 (41:32):
So I don't know. Marcus. I'm with you, mate.
Speaker 3 (41:40):
He's saying they're making the Grand Final. Are you with
him on that.
Speaker 2 (41:43):
I'll tell you this.
Speaker 1 (41:45):
The winner out of Hawthorne GWS make a prelim, we'll
have every ability to go deep and I will be
supporting from there. So if we lose to GWS, I
will be donning the orange for the rest of ours.
Speaker 4 (41:58):
I'm on board, Marcus orange wolfsuit with me for the God.
Speaker 2 (42:00):
Let's do it.
Speaker 3 (42:01):
I mean, I mean, I'm all orange.
Speaker 2 (42:03):
Oh my god, I want to the world is not
ready to see that.
Speaker 3 (42:07):
It was all orange.
Speaker 2 (42:11):
That's like a mej So there you go.
Speaker 1 (42:13):
But I agree, mad, I reckon that they are a
massive smoky and yeah, it'd be worse places to have
your heart.
Speaker 2 (42:19):
Earned than on them. I'll tell you that right now.
Speaker 1 (42:21):
Alright, Markets will continue on with Sunday Western Bulldogs Frio.
We were hoping for the same level game and Jez
come back. I thought it was nearly on, but fre
I were just too good. They smacked them around the
park early enough, and then they held them off late.
Speaker 2 (42:36):
They were great. They are playing finals.
Speaker 1 (42:38):
I think it was their fifth or six crack at
a last round win to make the finals.
Speaker 2 (42:43):
And they hadn't done it previously.
Speaker 3 (42:45):
They had to do it.
Speaker 1 (42:46):
They had to do it eventually. Yeah, they were so
good they and they have X factors all over. They've
got a strong defense and a leat midfield. The Prans
and Pony just was up and about like that four line,
and they've got they've got their own level of a
three headed monster. It's it's not doesn't have quite as
many teeth as the out of a one, but it's
(43:07):
it's mate.
Speaker 2 (43:08):
They're looking in good shape.
Speaker 4 (43:09):
And they did it against the flat track bullies as
you like to say, Leo, you said that, you said
that they did deserve finals. More over the Dogs in
the midwek show, and they did. Do you proud, And
it continues the trend of no vfl AFL team missing
out on finals with fifteen wins. So what we all
thought could happen ended up didn't happening. So but it
was the Dogs who actually started like a house on fire.
(43:31):
They had the first six inside fifties, they had the
first few scores, and I thought Jordan Croft was superb
all day in that for for.
Speaker 3 (43:38):
A second game, are in a must win game.
Speaker 4 (43:40):
He was just putting his body on the line. It
was ridiculous. So Norton, Croft and Darcy could be one
to look out for.
Speaker 1 (43:48):
If you said, if you if you said, like towards
the end of last year, hey, they're going to have
three really good forward options and Jamari isn't one of them.
Speaker 2 (43:58):
What are you talking about?
Speaker 3 (43:59):
Box?
Speaker 1 (44:00):
But like that is made way and now crofted, I
mean it's it's at too little, too eight scenario because
they're not playing, but Tod be excited about them next year.
Speaker 4 (44:09):
I think it was the full line it's all forward
at the other end, who we've given flak for this
season was actually keeping them in the game and that's
Joy Miss Yeah. And he kicked a great goal from
the pocket at the start of the second quarter. Just
wasn't it to one or two goals and that I
think really just flicked the switch for Freeman le and
then they went on to kick eight in a row,
seven to zero in the second quarter.
Speaker 3 (44:31):
Seven goals to zero.
Speaker 2 (44:32):
The pressure that they applied in the second quarter.
Speaker 1 (44:36):
The last time I saw that sort of pressure and
especially from them was the two thousand and thirteen qualifying final.
They played dann at Gelong and they turned up to
Condinia Park and it was insane the level and that
they ended up. They ended up in the making the
Grand Final through it. But I haven't seen pressure like
that they were. If they bring that, they won thousand percent.
(44:59):
When the press they play like that three four weeks,
you're going to do it for four weeks. We're not
talking about a season sustaining season. If they can put
a performance like that in and you don't need to
play that way for four quarters because you can't. What
you need to do is you need to play like
that to get out to a lead that you can protect,
which they did. Yes, true, because and I'll tell you what,
(45:21):
when you're up by thirty forty points on a prelim
or a Grand Final day, it's a lot harder to
find a way to come back.
Speaker 3 (45:26):
Into the game.
Speaker 2 (45:27):
So I think Frio are another one.
Speaker 1 (45:30):
And it's any any of the eight teams apart from
the goldgo Sons I think can win the Premier Year.
But mate, they they they impressed me. They blow me
out of the water. I was so impressed by the.
Speaker 3 (45:42):
Way and the dogs.
Speaker 4 (45:42):
I just really struggle to keep the impact of the
freo too forwards to nothing. I think Tracy was all
over lob areally.
Speaker 3 (45:52):
I think Lord didn't.
Speaker 4 (45:53):
He's had a great year, fantastic year, Ory lot, but
he just didn't have his best game, unfortunately for the Doggies.
So every time there was a long kick down the line,
he did always get outmarked and Tracy would just Tracy
or Voss. Voss was fantastic. And speaking of Patrick Voss, how.
Speaker 3 (46:08):
Good was that?
Speaker 4 (46:09):
Don't argue but goal from fifty to stop the Dog's
momentum and then he's gone off, he's running.
Speaker 3 (46:15):
Done that and then Kathy Freeman, like he says, he's
loving it.
Speaker 1 (46:18):
Incredible and this they're the players we spoke about pappally earlier.
Voss is there you need a player like that that
energizes the team in the crowd.
Speaker 2 (46:27):
It's not just kicking the goal. I loved it and
it was like.
Speaker 4 (46:30):
How good was the don't argue this is separate one
on Jason Johannison. He's just standing on the boundary line,
just going I've got you covered, bang with ball in
one hand. It was like the superhero with a baby
in one hand and just pushing him off. He knows
exactly how to get it done. But if you compare
that to the other end of the ground, Alex Pearce
kept Darcy goalless and pretty boy, along with Brendan Cox,
(46:52):
who did an awesome job of Narry Norton as well.
No Norton ended up kicking a couple of goals, but
as soon as he ripped the head band off, Norton.
Speaker 3 (46:58):
Lost his powers.
Speaker 2 (47:00):
Certainly did that.
Speaker 1 (47:01):
That Frio back six looked really good as well in
the way and then Clark the way he uses the
ball out of it.
Speaker 2 (47:08):
But there they're good on pretty much everyone.
Speaker 1 (47:10):
If it's just if that forward line can function well together,
there's no reason why they can't go very very deep
Western world. Just as we're talking about this looking game,
they really need to do something with it. They need
a key defender badly, they really do. And I don't
know what the answer is that they don't grow on trees.
We know that you've got to you're gonna have to
overpay for I thought.
Speaker 3 (47:30):
It was Liam Jones and then he just his emergency
for this.
Speaker 2 (47:33):
Yeah, I was the same. I don't. I don't know
why you wouldn't.
Speaker 5 (47:37):
We went with bustling on. He was a fourth game
and he gets subbed out at halftime. I think that
was a missed opportunity.
Speaker 1 (47:44):
And I don't think, like McGovern, you make a good
girl call earlier, Like McGovern is the obvious one out
there that's going to leave and has shown his ability,
But I don't know if that's enough. I think they
need they need to go get like Carthlorn to brassa battle.
Speaker 5 (47:59):
I think they also I need a big lockdown defender
as well, because I don't think they have that on
their list at the moment. Someone like a hard week
or a you know, Harry cunning and for City, they
don't really have that player with a hard edge that
can knock down a small Yeah, that that.
Speaker 2 (48:14):
Is that is a great call. That is so important.
Speaker 1 (48:16):
And as we're seeing that that hybrid small forward that
has a tank that can go through the midfield. When
they go forward like a rank and a cozy picket,
they are so electric that you need that, you need that,
you need that matchup or else or else.
Speaker 2 (48:31):
They just tear you apart.
Speaker 4 (48:32):
And it all found us, I thought in the last
quarter once they brought on Ardie Jones, he was that
sort of playoff for them.
Speaker 1 (48:38):
He was He provided something, didn't he And he's another
one he provided and he got around in celebration afterwards,
and you go, okay, this guy is trying to drive something.
Speaker 2 (48:45):
Look, don't tell me you there was a point we're
all sitting there watching it. Where you go, could.
Speaker 3 (48:51):
They Yeah, definite quarter?
Speaker 2 (48:53):
Yeah, hang on, this isn't over.
Speaker 4 (48:55):
They kicking six of the last seven goals of the game,
seven last nine, sorry, seven last nine goals.
Speaker 3 (49:02):
Of the game.
Speaker 4 (49:02):
But like you said, the margin was two steep once
Freeo kicked away in that second quarter. But when you
look to your leaders in the final quarter and boy
did Bonton Pellis stand up when they were looking at
someone because he had fourteen disposals and a goal from
that season.
Speaker 3 (49:16):
Goal was awesome on the runs.
Speaker 4 (49:18):
On the run, yes sorry he he kicked the set
short late in the third quarter, I believe. But that
means the sixth last seven seasons for the Dogs where
they've had to win on the Sunday to make finals.
Speaker 3 (49:27):
But this time around they didn't reversed almost because fre
I normally failed the last day.
Speaker 4 (49:33):
And that's the first final series the three will be
a part of since twenty twenty two and the Dogs
they will be hoping that Essendon can pull off a
miracle upset on Wednesday night against the Suns.
Speaker 1 (49:41):
That let's feel for the players, the Dogs, so they
can't come mad Monday. They have to sit and wait
until and watch it excruciatingly painful game on Wednesday night
and then they can actually and enjoy themselves. So they'll
be having a Thursday I would have thought, which just
just doesn't quite have the same to it all right.
Last game of the round was the Brisbane Hawthorne game
(50:04):
up there at the Gabba, Brisbane getting it done and
although quite inaccurate with twenty three behind. They did show
why they're the reigning premiers and why well, let's be honest,
the Cup goes through them again this year in whatever format,
You're going to have to find a way to be
Brisbane or beat a team to beat them.
Speaker 2 (50:25):
Yeah, it was a.
Speaker 1 (50:26):
Good game of footy. It was very stressful for those
of us that had a dog in the fight. But
let's talk about this game because it was. It was
an absolute cracker and I think it just gives Brisbane
that tops them off and gives them the perfect tune
up for a finals campaign.
Speaker 5 (50:42):
Absolutely, and the pressure in this one was really finals. Like, Look,
the skills may not have been great at different stages,
but the pressure and the intensity in.
Speaker 1 (50:49):
The app one or the other, and you take pressure
and intensity over skills.
Speaker 5 (50:54):
And the Brisbane crowded it was really behind them, especially
in that second quarter.
Speaker 3 (50:58):
They got loud.
Speaker 5 (50:58):
You could hear them through the screen, so it was
an awesome atmosphere. As you mentioned though, the twenty three
behind for Brisbane, inefficiency is crept in at different.
Speaker 2 (51:08):
Stages this season.
Speaker 3 (51:09):
Just quickly boys, could that potentially cost.
Speaker 2 (51:12):
Them the finals? Yep?
Speaker 1 (51:15):
We saw Freo kick themselves out of a flag in
twenty thirteen early If you remember, the inaccuracy definitely, and
what happens is then it grows in the yip start,
so you need to get on top of that. They're
not at the Melbourne level of producing this every week
or two, but this has popped up a couple of times.
The inaccuracy definitely, because they've got a potent forward line,
they've got an amazing midfield with midfield as a kick goals,
(51:36):
so they have all of the they have all of
the drive to get the ball inside fifty and they
score from a lot of their entries. But the inaccuracy
cannot be kicking. It cannot be at thirty thirty two
percent or whatever it is.
Speaker 3 (51:49):
It's been a theme at the goaver as well.
Speaker 4 (51:51):
And even because they got that double chance, they will
be playing a final at the Gabba.
Speaker 5 (51:55):
So yeah, that is in a weird way, that's the
final that I look at and go that that's the
that's the worrying final for Brisbane because they've been so
good away from home.
Speaker 1 (52:03):
They'll be fine on them, Yeah, they'll be They'll they'll
love playing Gelong on the MC.
Speaker 2 (52:07):
I see that.
Speaker 1 (52:08):
I I mean we'll talk about this when we look
ahead to the actual finals. But I liked them on
the mc J against John. I think that's a great
matchup for you.
Speaker 5 (52:18):
I agree, and I thought in this one a major
difference in the game was the line's mids just bullying Hawthorne.
It so different five to ten minute patches throughout McCluggage and.
Speaker 2 (52:28):
They didn't even have Neil. Let's let's just remember.
Speaker 4 (52:31):
Or Berry, did you miss a dog in the FIP?
Why not tagging mcluggage.
Speaker 3 (52:37):
Nash was on him, but just not around the ground.
That's stoppages. He tried to.
Speaker 5 (52:42):
But McCluggage is just two good thirty two disposals and
two goals. And what I love about Brisbane's midfield is
whether it's Dunkley, Bailey, Rainer Ashcroft, these guys, as you mentioned,
Neil and Berry weren't even in the side. They are
just so bloody good at breaking tackles and just getting
through get the handbll out that now we talk about
the inaccuracy not potentially stand out in finals, that will
(53:05):
stand up in finals. They were able to get through
finals like pressure with ease at different stages. And I
also just want to give a bit of a quick
shout out to Brucey Revel.
Speaker 2 (53:15):
He kicks a very.
Speaker 5 (53:16):
Important goal late, but watching the game live, he's very
clean below his legs. He shows fantastic composure and it
can play sort of half forward, wing half back and
when he's half back. He got Wilmot there as well,
who was superb as well as well. So they've got
some really handy players along across every line. It's almost
like that they're pretty good and this result for him
(53:40):
big ramifications. They lock in top four with the trip
to the g against the Cats. Briefly touched on it,
but ah, they have flag favorites.
Speaker 3 (53:48):
I think so, yeah, they have to be.
Speaker 2 (53:49):
I've got them on top.
Speaker 3 (53:50):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (53:51):
I think for me it's a Brisbane Geelong Grand Final
and I think Brisbane and you think Geelong will come
back the other way of I think Brisbane win the
first five all against them, and I think Geelong do
it the hardway playoff. Yeah, I think it'll be a
ripper ground final because going into this final series, I
think in the best two sides, I'll tell.
Speaker 1 (54:10):
You what, if you're out of eating your win, you
don't want you and approving absolutely.
Speaker 2 (54:13):
Not that it's like them.
Speaker 1 (54:14):
They love paying the gatherings because the ground is shaped
in your part, so it's that long thing round. I
spoke about it earlier. It's it sets up beautifully, John.
They have no issue paying there. They love paying there
because of the experience. They can handle that atmosphere with ease.
They could probably take the crowd out of it.
Speaker 2 (54:31):
I reckon Brisbane Gelong would be a good Grand Final.
Speaker 3 (54:35):
Brisbane jes shut up now onto Hawthorne.
Speaker 2 (54:41):
More over it on to Alethorne.
Speaker 5 (54:43):
Look, as I mentioned, they probably should have lost by more,
but they were ultimately let down by that lack.
Speaker 3 (54:48):
Of midfield depth.
Speaker 5 (54:49):
Statistically, the Lions midfield just had a lot more of
the ball than Hawthorn's midfield, and just when the Lions
did have that momentum, because there were periods where Hawthorne
had it, but when the Lions had that, they make
more of it because of that midfield. They're a bit
more clinical with it. And I want to I do
want to give applauter to Jack Inovan. It did feel
like he was in every altercation a little cheap wonder
(55:12):
Zorka at the start, which I thought was nothing, but
then at three quarter time a bit of a fight
with will Ashcroft which was a.
Speaker 2 (55:20):
Bit interesting, but she's with that crop went down quick.
Speaker 3 (55:23):
He went down quick, he did, and then he got trip.
He got tripped though.
Speaker 2 (55:29):
He runs.
Speaker 3 (55:30):
It was a little brother ye find the flag.
Speaker 5 (55:34):
But Ginnovan, I think he's been one of Hawthorne's best
players since being dropped. He had twenty three and two
in this one and it just feels like he doesn't
miss the twenty disposal marks since he's been dropped. Very
important player in terms of how Hawthorne moved the ball
going inside fifty.
Speaker 2 (55:48):
So I thought he was superb last night, probably Hawthorne's best.
Agree with that.
Speaker 4 (55:52):
Nick Watson was also great with you. He had he
had his moments, he had the ball, he was lively,
had a couple of good tackles, kicked a goal, throw
it against him.
Speaker 3 (56:02):
There's a fist on that one. Play that one back
so fashion set.
Speaker 1 (56:07):
Would you give Nick Watson more midfield time in that
first final given the lack of depth in the midfield.
Speaker 5 (56:16):
I think I'd keep it as the same. I think
his strength is as a as a pressure forward. I
think as he grows a bit more and more preseasons
than we can give them more.
Speaker 1 (56:25):
Would you maybe leave Mitch Lewis out and bring in
another midfielder like a kem McKenzie.
Speaker 5 (56:31):
Yeah, I think that's the move that Hawthorne have to make.
Saying I'm staying firm on my four tall stands. I
think Lewis like, I think he's a part of our future,
but I don't think he should be in the team
right now.
Speaker 3 (56:42):
He did Copper Cork last night, so.
Speaker 5 (56:44):
I don't want to read too much into his game
subbed out at halftime.
Speaker 3 (56:48):
I just think when the ball hits the deck, big liability.
Speaker 5 (56:51):
And I think with the midfield is an area we
struggle in. I just think we can get the same
impact up forward without him and we just need more
guys and then yeah, and.
Speaker 2 (57:01):
I think cam McKenzie just has to pay it.
Speaker 4 (57:04):
I think one of the worst things is if you
do go with the four tools in the forward line,
so one of your other players on the groend gets
injured and you do the bring the sub in, You're
stuck with the four tools for the rest of the game.
Don't have that tactic to bring to bring someone on.
Speaker 5 (57:20):
If the subs Lute Bruce, then it's a player who
again probably doesn't offer a lot of forward pressure. So
you've got five forwards right there that aren't providing tackle
pressure in a front half game, So something Sam has
to consider. And last point on the Hawks most likely
traveling to GWS potentially Perth for Freo. Do we think
(57:41):
that they could maybe get a bit of a run
on the winner of the if they play GWS, could
that game potentially go down a path of a pre limb.
Speaker 1 (57:47):
So if you go GWS, they get to play GWS
team who they beat earlier in the season. It's all
depending on what that team looks like on paper. They
also haven't been amazing on their home deck, so that's fine.
Then the like hood is you're probably going to play
a Collingwood that's lost to adava Aide, who they beat
recently by eleven goals, So yes they can. It doesn't
(58:07):
all work out like that. We know that it's that's
that's fine on paper, but as they say, the game's
played on grass, so it's it's not played on baba
like it's it's.
Speaker 2 (58:16):
Going to be what it is. With that, I'm I'm
I'm not sure with this midfield that Hawthorne can go deep.
Speaker 3 (58:26):
Only they had will Dave Will Dave. But I actually
think it's it's another dude, it's another day.
Speaker 1 (58:31):
I think I think that there's some person and we
don't need to go into Hawthorne's entire list, but I
think there's players in there that I look at that
midfield and I go, there's one here.
Speaker 2 (58:39):
I look and go, you're not winning a flag.
Speaker 1 (58:41):
If that is, like you're number two med and and
and that's that's that's an issue.
Speaker 2 (58:45):
But that'll get rectified in the off season.
Speaker 1 (58:47):
Should we have a look ahead to the most annoying
game of football I can remember.
Speaker 4 (58:52):
That's unfortunately, let's do it, my beloved bombs. They had
the chance to do something hilariously.
Speaker 3 (58:57):
It would be very hilarious.
Speaker 4 (58:59):
And when Day and Deny Gold coast their first ever
finals appearance.
Speaker 3 (59:04):
It couldn't haven't got it before? It can?
Speaker 4 (59:07):
Would this be the greatest finals choke?
Speaker 1 (59:10):
So they were staring down top four and other results
went their way to get top.
Speaker 3 (59:15):
Four, even top two.
Speaker 1 (59:17):
So all they needed to do was beat Porte who
were out of the race and an inferior team who
had and they had injury issues to port were missing
some key pies. Then they beat Eston, so they lost
to port out of eight and it's just all up
in fanes now so.
Speaker 4 (59:32):
And they did lose to g WS as well at home.
I know that's a tougher game.
Speaker 2 (59:37):
If there's a tough one, I just can't think of it.
Speaker 4 (59:39):
So the only one in recent memory, you think Carlton
when they lost a few and the Tropinale kicked them
out of finals. They lost Foreigner, I think a couple
of late on, but I think in the manner of
the teams that they're they're facing them in the season,
Gold Coast there was this could definitely be a big
finals choke. And in saying that, Essendon of lost eleven
on the trot and go Cos won the last three meetings,
so everything suggests that go with an easy victory here.
(01:00:01):
And I think it all starts in the midfield because
Essenon they just really struggled with the physicality of the
Carton midfield last week with Merritt obviously a saw Merit
and Durham laid out. That was a really big laid
out against the likes of Hewett, Crips Walsh, which is
good news to the likes of Real and Anderson, who
were first and fourth in the comp for clearances, so
(01:00:22):
I believe they'll just rack them up and absolutely dominate
that middle of the ground. Essenon the sixteenth and the
comp for clearances yep, goal Coaster third. But I think
the magic number for goal coast On points on the
board is seventy six. If they kicks seventy six points
at least they'll be fine because Essenon have not won
a game this season. When a team has kicked at
least seventy six plus points, they.
Speaker 5 (01:00:42):
Should have that in the first half really realistically.
Speaker 4 (01:00:46):
And one person who can do that in the first
half on his own is Ben King. He can do
that fourteen goals in his last four games. He's kicked
at least one goal in every game this season. Wally,
you didn't mention him in your All Australian four.
Speaker 1 (01:00:58):
I don't have him in my Australian have Riley Tilthorpe
because of his impact around the ground ahead of him,
and obviously Jesse gets picked. I'm just picking the two
two tools, two smalls, a mid size and a mid forward,
and you.
Speaker 4 (01:01:12):
Will float float Gunston in there guns your midsmid forward. Yeah,
and then well, even if he doesn't hit the scoreboard,
I think it's the supporting tools of Ethan Reed. And
even if they want to drift mac Andrew forward, because look,
they don't have many great defensive tool options my bombers
at the moment. In fact, none of them are fit
of Tuming LAVERTI doesn't play this game even still, but
(01:01:36):
Blackiston is the only tall defender in there, and he
was drafted as a ruckman in the mid season draft.
Speaker 3 (01:01:40):
So look, it's he's done well down back. To be fair,
it has done well. He has done well down he's
got he's got his work cut out for him in
this one. He sure does.
Speaker 4 (01:01:47):
So I think, look, it's got gold coast written all over.
Speaker 1 (01:01:50):
It doesn't it certainly does mate it certainly. All right,
let's do a lot of check for the last time
this season. Obviously the top four is fully locked in now,
so we know what those are going to look like.
Adelaide's going to host Collingwood, which will probably the Saturday night.
Speaker 3 (01:02:04):
I believe, Okay, Thursday night.
Speaker 1 (01:02:06):
I think I think that they didn't they say one
v four, five v eight is Saturday, and two three
v three is Thursday or Friday, and then the other.
So the likelihood is if they stick to that colling
would at a aide, probably on the Saturday night yep.
Speaker 2 (01:02:24):
And then you've got that Geeong Brisbane game, which would
you what would you do? Would you have that Friday
night primetime or do you kick the finals off with that?
Speaker 5 (01:02:31):
I honestly would kick it off with Adelaid Collingwood well,
and I'd have the Geelong Brisbone one.
Speaker 3 (01:02:36):
On the Saturday yep.
Speaker 5 (01:02:37):
And because I just think what freo Gold Coast on
a Friday night, I'd rather that on a Saturday night.
Speaker 1 (01:02:43):
So what that would mean is that then you'd have
to play the Friday night would have to be Hawk Giants,
which is that's that's a that's a draw card. That's
what I would do at least very good, very good,
And look, yeah we don't need to go down the
latter too much here, but I think that just a
call out there towards the bottom. A lot of what's
going to be interesting here is all of the swap
(01:03:05):
draft picks.
Speaker 2 (01:03:05):
This is going to be a really interesting draft this year.
Speaker 1 (01:03:08):
So the Bombers, you've got the d S pick, Yes,
Hawthorne's got Carton's pick, there's Richmond's got North Melbourn's pick.
Speaker 2 (01:03:14):
So they're the big winners of this.
Speaker 1 (01:03:16):
They avoided the spoon and as it stands at the moment,
they're going to have the third and fourth pick, as
West Coast will get the extra pick. But yeah, and
then after about seventeen academy picks don't get someone in
the twenties.
Speaker 4 (01:03:28):
And obviously, assuming as as the Dogs are the side
to miss out. And we did mention actually last week
previewing that game, that Dog's Rio game, that it's more
there's more repercussions on the Dogs if they missed because
they have the better list. So yeah, just goes to say,
that's not a great end of the season.
Speaker 1 (01:03:45):
All right, checking the tips now, good round, good round
for the team with it eight? Liam got eight, Marcus,
you've got seven. Obviously we got the Suns to play
on Wednesday, so.
Speaker 2 (01:03:57):
You're on the Sun.
Speaker 4 (01:03:58):
I miss I missed the Dogs. Want to tip the Dogs?
Speaker 2 (01:04:00):
Yeah, fair enough to. I mean their favorite I think
a doll with thirty or something.
Speaker 1 (01:04:05):
So you got anyway, lock results, everyone got that lock
in Swan's win, crom and Cat's top two cromwin too easy, easy,
But the big cause one I want to talk about
here my man Leo two of the three bombers, Blues,
Port Sons, Freo dogs, and I know, putting modesty aside
here that if you had to pick two, he would
(01:04:25):
have picked the two that won in terms of Port
and Freo. So mate, this was there was a great effort,
you sniffed the upsets out and you went with him.
Speaker 2 (01:04:34):
I loved it.
Speaker 3 (01:04:34):
Yeah, and I'll be honest that Carlton.
Speaker 5 (01:04:36):
The one against Carlton was mainly because I just don't
rate Carden, but they were probably always going to beat
Essendon and Port the emotional team against gold Coast, I've
read it like a book and reverse dogs.
Speaker 2 (01:04:46):
I just believed in.
Speaker 3 (01:04:47):
Long mule, which I don't think anyone's ever said in
their life.
Speaker 1 (01:04:49):
So that's exactly right, exactly right. All right, best on
ground for the week, let's start with.
Speaker 3 (01:04:56):
You, all right, one votes.
Speaker 5 (01:04:58):
I'm giving it to Tea Jerry four North Melbourne. I
know they lost, but I just thought his impact on
the ground, the tackles he was laying Clark, I was
loving it. On the sideline he was getting up in
about twenty five disposals for a ruckman, twelve tackles, nine
contested possessions, nine score involvements, thirty five seven clearances. That
is a statute. That's a great statue. Electrician, great performance there,
(01:05:20):
two votes. T Green just absolute clutch from the skipper
seventeen and four, two epic marks in the last and
just got his side over the line and gave him
a chance.
Speaker 3 (01:05:31):
The top four they weren't going to get it, but
gave him a chance. Three votes.
Speaker 5 (01:05:35):
He was the best player last night, the best player
of the round. Hugh McCluggage for the lines thirty two
and two eleven score involvements and felt like a dozen
broken tackles and he got them going. He was the
first guy they kicked eight behind kicks the snap to
get them going in the game and Hawthorn did not
have an answer, and I felt like he was the
(01:05:56):
dominant player of the round.
Speaker 3 (01:05:57):
I like it.
Speaker 4 (01:05:58):
Who's any stiff mentioned. There wasn't anyone that had like.
Speaker 2 (01:06:04):
On top.
Speaker 5 (01:06:04):
Yeah, he was very I think Gold and Papley considered,
but as I considered, and I also considered Alex Pierce
because of his role on Sam Darcy as well.
Speaker 3 (01:06:15):
So they're the honorable mentions.
Speaker 2 (01:06:16):
Very good Marcus full credit which.
Speaker 4 (01:06:19):
I was so sorely tempted to put another loser this week.
I always put a loser in to get one vote.
Who played well. That would have been Saint Kilda, but
so I've ruled it out. I've gone on to use
my head this time.
Speaker 3 (01:06:30):
Yeah, use your brain. One vote.
Speaker 4 (01:06:33):
I'm going to go the b Lions. Just the one vote.
They got the job. They got the job done. There
were big ramifications on that game for both sides. Obviously
the winner would get the double chance, so I think
been more seriously, they came away what two goal winners
they should have won by more, so it's good. I
think one vote is good too. The emotional side I
(01:06:55):
had to had to be pot to two votes Can
and Boki. They obviously it was a game of emotion.
They got up and won that game, as you called out, Leo.
But also it was huge because Goldcoast had a lot
writing on that game as well. They wasn't an easy
beat a national win. So they get the two votes.
And lastly three votes. Can't be anyone else than the
(01:07:15):
Freemantle dog getting the job done. Adding style what I
add against against the dogs, although like the dogs selvage
the school board late there by kicking seven the last night,
they were all over them for the for the second
and third quarter in particular, and it sets them great
for September.
Speaker 1 (01:07:31):
