Speaker 1 (00:00):
On AFL Today. The games are done, so the time
for talking starts. Leo, you are up and about this week, mate,
I'm fired up.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
I reckon there's a top four side that cannot win
the flag.
Speaker 3 (00:08):
There's a lot of love for key forwards as well.
They should be getting more votes in the browner Key.
Speaker 1 (00:12):
Forwards deserve all of the love, all of that much more.
AFL Today starts now. Round nine is done and Dustin,
we are no clear on who's going to play finals
this year. Welcome to AFL Today's weekend Wrap. I'm your host,
Alex Donnelly. I am joined by a man who is
fired up. He's got a big take for us. It's
Leo Malali. What's up, Leo, tak fired up, I'm feeling good.
Speaker 2 (00:34):
I'm going to tell you a team that cannot win
the flag and it is currently a top four side.
Speaker 1 (00:40):
That is actually I like it. I like it. That's
actually got me ready to listen to you later on
tonight exactly. And a guy he's he's just suffered. He's
honestly suffered. His team have found new ways to give
him hope but also let him down at the same time.
It is the stats guy Lee McCall in, Hello, Stats, God,
(01:01):
Hello everybody. William.
Speaker 3 (01:05):
I'm just rattled after that North game. But we didn't lose.
You found a way to.
Speaker 1 (01:10):
Way not to win. That's three weeks in a row
where I'm absolutely gutted.
Speaker 3 (01:13):
I'm coming into this show with two points for once though,
but I'm still gutted.
Speaker 1 (01:17):
This is brutal and the whole show. You've just got
two points, yeah, two point yeah, just two points? Well,
definitely not. This has been the best weekend of footy
for a couple of years. I reckon. It's been awesome.
Six games decided by ten points or less with an
average margin of ten point three, with a draw thrown
in for good measure. Now, later on in this show,
I will tell you a team who will not miss
the top six this season despite not winning this weekend.
(01:39):
They even may sneak into the top four. But before
we get into that, make sure you subscribe to AFL
Today on YouTube, follow us on x, Facebook, Instagram, and
TikTok for more footy content all season long. You can
watch the last minute of North Melbourne and Brisbane through
the eyes of the stats guy. He looks very, very
broken at the start. I was genuinely putting it on
and then that was just me. That's just me. You're
sitting on my couch at home like legit. Yeah, just
(02:01):
with all your friends. Yeah. But of course make sure
you do hit the notifications bell and the subscribe button
on YouTube as well, so anytime we do a video,
it comes up in your notification zone. But anyway, let's
rip into the ladder check. After round nine of the AFL,
Brisbane line still on top of the ladder on thirty points,
seven one and one. That draw could come in handy
(02:23):
later in the year. For top four positions, Collingwood's still
in second after a big win on the weekend. Hawthorne
they're and third. They're both on twenty eight. Two teams
on twenty four points are gold Coast and Adelaide. Gold
Coaster's dominant percentage has them up there one thirty five.
It is the best in the top eight at the moment.
And then we have a glutton of teams on twenty points, Dogs, Cats,
(02:43):
Giants and Essendon that fills out the top nine. Tenth, eleven, twelve,
thirteenth all on sixteen points. Carldon down to Port Adelaide, Swan's,
Melbourne and Richmond on twelve points. That's not great. North
Melbourne still second last and West Coast still winless.
Speaker 2 (02:59):
I'm going no one below eleventh and below can make finals.
Speaker 1 (03:02):
That's what they're all crap. They're all crap.
Speaker 3 (03:05):
The Freer is eleventh and they're crap, and everyone below
them is proven to be crap.
Speaker 1 (03:09):
So I'm going no one below eleventh.
Speaker 2 (03:11):
Look, I don't want to pump Alex up, but if
Sydney get their play yeah, I think they'll make a charge.
Speaker 1 (03:15):
Yeah, you've lost the same.
Speaker 2 (03:17):
And don't forget about my beloved Saint Kilda had a
clipping the radar on Friday night.
Speaker 1 (03:21):
They're still there. You're riding off for Sydney team without
their two forwards, the two of their best bielders and
one of their best defenders. That's a that's a bold
core Cotton, but you know it used to being. I
don't forget about North Melbourne. They're about Steve. We've got
that handy two points make us charge up. I think
that just means North will finish seventeenth instead of eighteenth
this year. Anyway, let's get into the round nine results
(03:44):
from it this week and the games Thursday night. OPTA
stadium fraud. Mantle were well on show here twelve eleven
eighty three defeated by Collingwood, who anytime they went inside
fifty decided to kick a goal fifteen seven ninety seven.
Stats guy take it away.
Speaker 3 (03:58):
Yeah, this was my one really fun game. Mainly from
the small this was painful. I liked it because I
like what it was, all right. I liked when as
a Freer fan this would be definitely painful to watch.
They had a lot of inside fifties, but on the
other end, the Pies small is just absolutely dominated. Yeah,
Jamie Elliott was probably given a little bit too much room,
but he was always in the right spots and he
was kicking him from everywhere. He's one of the best
(04:19):
set shots. I'd say in the game you can kick
him from fifty the clutch moments, there was a few
stages where they needed a goal just to get back
in front.
Speaker 1 (04:25):
He was unbelievable six goals. He had Bobby Hill kicking
three goals.
Speaker 3 (04:28):
They sort of have that not that great forward on
Obviously they might check out, but when they have these
guys stepping up their four lines, fine, They've showed that
in the Grand Final a few years ago that because
everyone says their fod lines are the good. Another one
Alex talked about this off screen as well. Luke Ryant,
he's always got to Sibi had one hundred and twenty
and super coach. But he's been absolutely bombing it every
week and it's costing three or so many goals.
Speaker 1 (04:48):
Mate, he forgot that he was meant to be on
Jamie Elliott and let him get out of the back
and kick six Like this was an abomination of defense
from Freeman to actually forgot what their job was. The
amount of Joe Goose out and back goals. But then
you had the four or five goals that went about
half a meter over the lion. It's like, do you
not have depth perception? Yeah? It was weird, wasn't it?
Speaker 3 (05:09):
And like, if you're lowering your eyes Josh Tracy had
Josh Tracy, why did that sound the weird? He had
two goals to start the game. If they're lowering their
eyes every time, he's going to take so many more marks.
And if I'm a Frere fan, it's definitely fraud Mantle. Now,
I think we said this last year about done. They're done.
I know they're only eleventh and they're still close, but
the confidence has gone.
Speaker 1 (05:26):
What else have we got?
Speaker 3 (05:27):
The inside fifties that we talked about not good. Sixty
two to thirty four inside fifties Colin would have fifteen
goals inside fifty sixty.
Speaker 1 (05:35):
Lea, you had a bit of a start on that one.
The six marks, I did, Oh you did? I can
read it out. I think I did. Oh you sent
this to me. Actually, but the Freo key Fords are
three key forwards.
Speaker 3 (05:43):
Oh that's right, two rucks for a total of six
inside fifty marks.
Speaker 1 (05:47):
Real, real worry.
Speaker 3 (05:48):
I was a bit disappointed in free on that side,
and for the pie is just another big positive to
getting this win. Nick Daikos not much impact at all.
They had no effect resting all those players and they
were coming off a five day break like that. Is
a Premiership winning caliber team right there is. They are
the flag favorites right now. Sean Darcy injured again, I
(06:09):
would be finding a way to cut his contract.
Speaker 2 (06:11):
Yeah, him and Jackson? What do we think it doesn't work?
Speaker 1 (06:13):
Just I would. I would be finding a way to
get rid of Sean dark You guys got big on
this because I was never big on Sewan Darcy. Getting
rid of it. I've been big on that for two years.
Who is there a team out there that needs someone
like Geelong? Geelong? Yeah, I think he could go across
He could honestly go across town to West Coast.
Speaker 3 (06:30):
Richmond if an angvertised fair one guy from colling And
I thought really stepped up. He obviously had the try
to keep the match winning goal in the fairy tale
moment last week missed. He had twenty nine disposals and
two goals. Jack Crispy redempt and he was awesome. I
don't know if people saw during the week he recreated
the It was very funny with his wife. Yeah, that
was really good fun. And then I got a few
(06:52):
stats for you.
Speaker 1 (06:53):
I know that I don't know.
Speaker 3 (06:54):
Here we go, So Craig McCrae has yet to lose
when flying West of Australia.
Speaker 1 (06:59):
So he has nine wins and one drop. So west
of Victoria.
Speaker 3 (07:02):
That's I should have said that South Australia. I'm pretty
sure because it's nine wins.
Speaker 1 (07:06):
And just about to say there's no way Colin would
have played ten games Inway in three years.
Speaker 3 (07:10):
No, so there'd be a few Adelaide wins in there.
And then a few wa wins because I had the
draw last year as well. So he's never lost when
flying west, which is a bit of a weird one.
Speaker 1 (07:18):
He loses when he flies north to Sydney though. Yeah.
But the other one we talked about during the week
was Caleb's wrong.
Speaker 2 (07:25):
He had the mouth gut train his mouth guard for
three quarters this week.
Speaker 1 (07:29):
It was great for three courts I think.
Speaker 3 (07:30):
In the other three quarters other than the second he
had eight touches at least in all those quarters. The
second quarter when Colin got a run on he had two. Yeah,
I don't know what happened. There was an idea for
MAMULTI again, I think he needs to I don't know,
he needs to have a four quarter and I don't
think he's done that.
Speaker 1 (07:43):
For most of the season. Mashaw has been no good.
Best supertearch pick of the year Embrashaw over him. Also
the sneaky Brown Hope. But it's the Ford entries. This
is the end of the day for freemen or bad
Ford entries. And we'll talk about more terrible Ford entries
in some other games later later this week as well.
But that Fremantle, that is one they'll just go, that's
not great. You have a look at the next couple
of games free and I'll have GWS, Gold Coast and
(08:04):
Port not in that order, but only one of them
at home. They can be in trouble if all of
a sudden after at the bye they are what four
and eight? Yeah, I didn't think about that one.
Speaker 3 (08:13):
Fan bases three oh free ire like can like it's
be so frustrated yet long year we haven't.
Speaker 1 (08:20):
Talked about him.
Speaker 3 (08:20):
It was a big test for him and again they've
failed with a with a lackluster Pies team.
Speaker 1 (08:25):
Yeah sometimes and coming were like, is sick We're going
to win the flag?
Speaker 3 (08:29):
Yep.
Speaker 1 (08:29):
Yeah, for just to for the flat fans as well.
For the fan bases.
Speaker 3 (08:32):
They've got twelve of their last fourteen games are in
Victoria Classic piles get the fixture very happy.
Speaker 1 (08:38):
If you're a you'd be really happy, and you'd.
Speaker 2 (08:40):
Be really happy if they didn't use that list every time.
Speaker 1 (08:43):
They've all clicked off.
Speaker 3 (08:46):
Yet. Anyway, the Fires fans will be absolutely up and
about and free.
Speaker 1 (08:50):
No good Friday Night MCG for Spuds games since killed
at nine eight sixty two defeated by Carton eleven eleven
seventy two. This was my game. Quick question to the yes,
was this Harry McKay's best game in a couple of years.
Three goals, ten marks, ninety possessions and the match winner
and a shank as well. That's that's me, that's me.
That's mean he's come back from mental hearth issues. He's dominated.
Speaker 2 (09:13):
But that I think that was definitely that was a
game he looked confident. Yeah, one hundred percent. It was
good to see him back in some good format.
Speaker 1 (09:21):
They've got these little bobhead and that's why I put
that Harry McKay bubblehead. I thought he's crips, he's got
a bit head. So we look at this and it's like,
nothing in this game really convinced me about Carlton because
I was watching this game going, I'm waiting for both
of these teams to somehow lose this game, especially second half.
The second half. Well, in the first half there was
(09:42):
thirty two stoppages. In the third quarter alone, there was
thirty five stoppages.
Speaker 3 (09:46):
The most the typical ross line quarter that one they
kicked one earlier reckond Saints.
Speaker 1 (09:50):
And then yeah, there'd be more attacking this year than
third third. But it's like you look at you look
at Carlton, It's like, okay, they had their injuries. They're
kind of bad and kind of just good. At the
same time that McGovern went to hospital, apparently he's all right.
Haynes had hurt his hammy. Yeah, cow And and Acres both
went down. Cown was out for the game, but Haines
and Acres sort of pushed through as well. But like
(10:12):
they're walking wounded at the moment. We know there's not
a lot of depth there and you sort of have
a look around the ground where the matchups. One was
Harry McKay doing a lot obviously, hewittt and Crip's got
a lot of the footy as well as they always do.
I thought t DK and Marshall was a really good battle,
always going to be wondered watch it was really fun.
But should kill to just give Nads the one point
(10:33):
seven million, That's what I was saying to the count.
Speaker 2 (10:35):
Does Shane know though, because he's elite, But I think
there's still some moments in his game that he could
tidy up. That doesn't make him that. He's very young,
but they probably have to give him that to keep him.
Speaker 1 (10:46):
He's going to look good at Adelaide next year.
Speaker 2 (10:48):
They need an elite more than they need him, more
than TDK.
Speaker 3 (10:51):
Right now, Jack, and he's thinking in his head he
watches the showdown, He's like, imagine if I kicked that
the filth.
Speaker 1 (10:55):
Yeah it's not, it's all good, but you look at that,
it's like he's the game breaker that you're watching that game,
Like sin Kilda desperately need a game breaker because the
game was there for them to win it. Whereas Carlton
they have their moments and flashes of brilliance with your crips,
and Hewitt and everyone else stepped up just popping up
and doing little bits when they need and of course
Makay Charlie kicked a couple of goals early, but it
(11:18):
was just it was a grinding result for Carlton, which
is one that they needed to have. But it's Sin
killed you, like they needed they need a key for it.
This is where they're missing King.
Speaker 3 (11:26):
Well, that was the commentators mentioned it a lot. They
were going down the line to Jack Higgins. Jack Higgins
weirdly was putting up good fights down the line, but
you can't be doing that man on the ground.
Speaker 1 (11:35):
Yeah, I did love seeing mataist philipoo back.
Speaker 2 (11:37):
Yeah, the pool he could be that game breaker, but
he needs.
Speaker 1 (11:42):
That's that's after the buyer, once he builds back his fitness.
Would you hate that nickname though? The pooh? No, I
love it. I don't want to be called a poop.
His name is matthaias Mark Philips, Matatos philippoops fine something
about it. Yes. In the end, this is one where
how did how didn't we win that? And cart and
like thank god we won that. That's sort of the
end feeling there. Yeah, I agree, well done. Fan Basis
(12:05):
and Kilder are like bugger, Yeah.
Speaker 3 (12:08):
That was the ones where they could have won, as
it was Spud's game as well. They I think that
was a missed opportunity for them.
Speaker 1 (12:13):
Well they win that, they're in their ninth you know.
And the Jumper game above Carton as well, because they
go to twenty points and Carton's still on twelve as well. Yeah,
and Flaggers like that's good. Oh, can we do it
in Sydney next week? Because Waggers, Oh no, that's a jinx.
Speaker 3 (12:28):
Also, they've finally beaten someone outside of West Coast, Richmond
North and Geelong Golton.
Speaker 1 (12:35):
They beat twelfth. Well done.
Speaker 3 (12:36):
Yeah, but that's that's a win they needed because they
lose those weird type of games. So fair play to come.
Speaker 1 (12:41):
Saturday MCG Melbourne seven fourteen fifty six defeated by Hawthorne
thirteen thirteen ninety one. I saw about seven minutes of
this we needed to see. It wasn't that pretty If
it's all the last seven minutes that was beautiful. Fortunately
the third quarter.
Speaker 2 (12:55):
I want to start this by talking about Clayton Oliver.
So he was introduced into this game a tagger, which
you know copped a bit of flak from a lot
of people, but I thought it was a really good
move by Simon Goodwin. It showed maturity from Clarry as
well to have a task and just be focused at it.
He kept Nuclem to ninety disposals, will only add thirteen
in himself, but I think by playing that selfless role,
(13:18):
it meant Track was amazing. Like Track was, I thought
the best player until time and Harvey Langford.
Speaker 1 (13:23):
I know you're a big fan of him.
Speaker 2 (13:25):
Alex three goals, I think twenty disposals, but what really
stood out to me are his jukes. He is so
good overhead. I reckon just chucking one on one in
the goal square.
Speaker 3 (13:36):
He's go to make he'd make defenders very scary, like
down there's.
Speaker 1 (13:42):
One nine like phenomenal overhead. You couldn't like if he
gets it up there, it's very hard to scoire.
Speaker 4 (13:50):
Wow, he's he's just two centimeters tall than me. I
did not think he was that tall. But the he
just couldn't convert as simple as that. They missed easy chances.
Speaker 1 (14:02):
Bailey Fridge has got to go to the twos. Yeah,
he was.
Speaker 3 (14:05):
He was disappointing. He missed one on the Sighen in
the first four touches.
Speaker 2 (14:09):
He was, Yeah, he should have kicked that one as
well in the first With the Hawks, they just turned
it on in the last, especially the midfield.
Speaker 1 (14:16):
But Alex, I want you.
Speaker 2 (14:17):
To chat me about this old bloody veteransance.
Speaker 1 (14:22):
Who is it Jack Gunston? Like Unfortunately, I was going
to talk up how good his goal kicking is. Oh,
where is this goal? Which it is on the red
But he kicked three goals. Yeah, yeah, he likes a couple.
That's usually six goals one for gungs and because he does,
it's the most underrated thing in football, kicking goals. Yeah,
for sure. And Jack gunst in this season he has
popped up in games like these for Hawthorne in the
(14:44):
last month. What he's kicked twenty three goals this season
equal third in the Beef. He's like fift. No one
would have thought he would do this this year. When
last year was Sar he was in and out. He
had that year in Brisbane as well, but this has
just been Oh, this is another avenue for Hawthorne where
defenders now need to worry about Jack Gunston and he'll
have fifteen and one. Don't need Mitch Lewis. Just Jack.
(15:09):
Listen to it. You feel safe when Jack Gunston has
the footy in his hands sticking for goal except for
the first half.
Speaker 2 (15:15):
Oh yeah, but yeah no, I tend to agree, and
just quickly on on Cicily as well. He got better
as the game went on, but he's still probably not
at his level with a big month coming.
Speaker 3 (15:24):
I think he played all right, but it was against
the worst opposition towards it.
Speaker 2 (15:27):
Yeah, but he needed a game to get back into
a form.
Speaker 1 (15:29):
I don't know if that was it and that was
it was really good thing.
Speaker 3 (15:32):
I was watching the Hawks until the last corter he
didn't play that free sort of style, but your fitness
took over.
Speaker 1 (15:37):
I thought the last quarter was really good. So before
you get to your final point, Leo, Hawthorne will be
in fraud watch in the power rankings. Despite winning, we
will reference in the power rankings. Thing is, Alex, I
tend to agree with you.
Speaker 3 (15:51):
He's the most spessimistic Hawks now, which we will get into.
Speaker 2 (15:54):
That's why I'm going to give you thirty seconds and
why I think Hawthorne cannot win the flag.
Speaker 1 (15:59):
This is to that time. I'm ting you're going to
tire me.
Speaker 2 (16:01):
Look, next five games are going to find us a
lot like I find out a lot about Hawthorne. We've
got the Sons, Away, Lions, Pies, Dogs and Crows.
Speaker 1 (16:09):
Well know then, I just think.
Speaker 2 (16:11):
Hawthorne need to play the perfect game to win AFL.
They have to have everything centimeter perfect. The teams that
bring the highest amount of pressure will stifle that, and
I just don't think it can stand up in the
biggest of big games.
Speaker 1 (16:24):
That was a thirty seconds was under twenty seven.
Speaker 3 (16:30):
So I reckon you're a bit harsh on your own team.
I agree that they're not playing as well as last year.
Speaker 1 (16:35):
The back end of last year. I reckon there's two
teams right now in the top four.
Speaker 3 (16:38):
They can't win the flag. Hawthorne ang just don't have
the love. But yeah, fair call, you made some good
points fan bases. D's fans are like oh Man, goal kicking.
There's enough there though for the DS. I think they've
got to stay fit.
Speaker 2 (16:52):
If they have a few injuries then the depth will
be very worrying.
Speaker 1 (16:56):
Hawthorne fans are either like Leo or they're going to
win the flag. There is nowhere between.
Speaker 2 (17:00):
Leo or Walley, who works in the offense.
Speaker 1 (17:03):
I'm going to win, yeah, exactly. Let's get across the
Marvel Stadium, Essendon eleven five seventy one defeated by the umpires.
We go, I'm walking out of this. One's eight fifteen
sixty three, so I'm going to get it out out
of the way right now. I am a Sydney Swans fan,
as we all know, these are the things Sydney Swans
(17:24):
fans need to be angry about before the umpires goal
kicking get Ford entries than the umpires.
Speaker 3 (17:30):
I'll put the umpires bit further out a third. Yeah,
I'll give you that. I think the other two like
heads above the umpires.
Speaker 1 (17:36):
Yeah, I agree, so out of the way straight away.
So we did talk about it like during the week
leading up to it. Obviously, Jordan going to Zach Merritt
is the way to go to stifle them. Matchup, nineteen
touches and two goals. I'd take that, though if I
was Essendon, you get two goals.
Speaker 3 (17:50):
Would rather Merit having an impact forward than in the midfield.
Speaker 1 (17:53):
I know, Jordan, that's a tick for Jordan. That's a
tick for Jordan.
Speaker 2 (17:57):
If if you're an Essendon fan and Merrit kicks two goals.
Speaker 1 (17:59):
I think in the first ten minutes Zach Merritt had
wanted to the Ford fifteen was one hundred meters away
from the footy. As a Swans fan, I'm like, yeah, right,
Zach Merritt is nowhere around there. But then you sort
of have a look through this game. It freed up.
Nick Martin, Andy McGrath, Redmond Bloody Will said Ifield played
the greatest game I've ever seen him play.
Speaker 2 (18:15):
He's good at his best, he's a good playoff.
Speaker 1 (18:17):
But it was it's like there was a lot of
possessions there and I was sitting with a couple of
Essenon fans and it's like they'd get the footy and
they'd be like, oh, what do we do? They go sideways,
they go backwards, they go sideways, they go backwards. When
Essenon looked at their best in this game, it was
heedless chucks through the midfield, run and carry with handball,
and they looked very good. At halftime, the Essendon fans like,
(18:40):
this is the best half of footy that we have
played all year, and I'm like, that's not great because
you've kicked three goals from fifty penalties.
Speaker 2 (18:47):
Yeah, they did play well, and especially the first quarter
they dominated it.
Speaker 1 (18:50):
Yeah, they did get they did get their run on
when they ran and carried. Nate Caddy, I did not
know he was that agile. I'm a big fan of
Nate Caddy. Three goals, but the way he moved about
a couple of chase down tackles that he did, he
was fantastic. He should be favorite for the rising Star.
Speaker 3 (19:05):
Who are you taking? I think there was people having
a discussion about this, Cadman or Caddy right now, I'm
taking but Cadman, you like Cavin. They're both going to
be up there around the same age. I reckon there
would be really cool battle in the future for a Coleman.
Speaker 1 (19:18):
Maybe under my head right now, caddyk about yea, yeah
would because if you have Caddy in that forward line
with Jesse Hogan, he'd kick even more goals. That's true,
That's true. Yeah. Hays on debut. Oh he's cruel, a
cl for the poor bugger. He looked fantastic to the Swans.
(19:40):
This is a game that once again, for probably the
third time this year, that they should have won. Plus
twenty two contested possessions, plus twenty two inside fifties plus
seven scoring shots, it's eight goals fifteen tells it. Justin
McInerney Matte, you need to go back to oz kick
and learn he's kicking his balldrop was deplorable. Chad Warner
tried to put the Swans on his back. He did
(20:00):
absolutely everything he could. Dean Cox, there are just some
different decisions he needs to make in the coaches box,
like Hamdling cannot play in the forward line ever again.
Speaker 3 (20:09):
Oh yeah, you could tell them's not good for You're
not going to win many games.
Speaker 1 (20:15):
Tell him the first ten minutes they needed to go
back and anger. Sheldrick can never be the sub ever
again he was good your beef bracelet on, He lifted
for me, kicked the goal twelve touches. Where's that in
the shower? Yeah? I don't take it off, mate. My
love for beef is unparalleled. Because I did the guard
of honor, I was I was the only one taking
like a photo of Anger Sheldrick because he ran out.
Speaker 2 (20:36):
I can I ask you a question, yes, would you
rather never eat beef again?
Speaker 1 (20:41):
Or but if you do?
Speaker 2 (20:42):
Chaldic plays every game for the swamp. Oh, and he's
good and he's like not good, like a solid.
Speaker 1 (20:47):
That's fine. I can eat chicken and pork. That's all
I wanted to know. Yeah, And at the end of this,
good on Essendon for winning. But the tension in the
stadium in the last quarter was hilarious. Would have been
like on the edge of their seat we were signed
having like the funniest result ever. But my overall like
take of this is both teams are no good. Well
(21:08):
how many five and three five? And don't think they're
much good. I know if that's the if, that's the
best that they can play. And they relied on seven
fifty a couple of last week against bad free kicks
like and then this one's playing like that falling over
against North La.
Speaker 3 (21:23):
They're kind north like that, that is fall over the
I guess they've got a test against the Dogs next week, Yes,
me test.
Speaker 1 (21:28):
So fan bases Esa like, thank god we won that.
We need to do it again next week if you
beat the Western Bulldogs, I'll be a believer. And Sidney
Swans fan's like, where's Eryl? Yeah, you've missed Errol? Have
you been dreaming about him? Mate? They posted a video
of him running the other day. Oh gott be going.
Made me want to run a marathon. All right, let's
(21:51):
get up to darn stats man. Gold Cost fifteen sixteen
one oh six defeated the Western Bulldogs fourteen twelve ninety six.
What a ripper. This wasn't a.
Speaker 3 (21:58):
Bloody awesome game. The Sun's I will touch on them
up there, the Darwin Sons. We should be calling them
the Darwin Crocs or whatever you want to call them
up there. That is seven straight wins up there. And
who tipped against the Suns on the weekend, Marcus, Marcus
get into him. My whole family and dog, I half
my family's dog. They all tipp him. I was the
only one to tip.
Speaker 1 (22:13):
The thing to say about your family, shout out to
Mark and I love them. I love them.
Speaker 2 (22:20):
No, my mum's smart and on smart North family.
Speaker 1 (22:22):
That's right.
Speaker 3 (22:23):
Dogs kick five goals in the last quarter but couldn't
come back. Are they still contended? I just want to
put that on the percent. That's a great effort I
think as well. If you're going within ten points to
the Darwin Son.
Speaker 1 (22:33):
Technically it was four because King kicked a go after
their still counts as technically, yeah, but no, that's what
I mean. It was a goal. Oh sorry, and he's
kicked the goal after the sire. Yes, yes, yes, But
it also shows to me the Gold Coast like wins
like this are why I'm a Gold Coast truther. Yeah,
because enough. But the thing is, last two years ago,
Gold Coast would have fallen over and folded in that
(22:54):
game when the Dogs got rolling, they had five minutes
to defend and they defended it.
Speaker 3 (22:58):
The Dogs were talking out big time, so that's a
really big win for the Suns. This game has also
lived up to the scoring hype. You had almost both
teams going over one hundred. We'll touch on that later.
But Marcus's big.
Speaker 1 (23:07):
Call was very very close. They both probably kicked could
have kicked a few more goals.
Speaker 3 (23:11):
Was really tough conditions as always, like playing with a
ball in just washing soap as few teams have trained
like Kinging.
Speaker 2 (23:17):
I think he had three goals three and so we did.
Speaker 1 (23:19):
Talk about that if Gold Coast play well, he averages
four goals a game.
Speaker 3 (23:23):
And he pretty much got that because he kicked a
few points as well. The players as well. It is
so tough playing up there. When Ben Kingler took his
shot in the second quarter, he was on his hands
and knees like absolutely bugging.
Speaker 1 (23:33):
It's so tough playing up there.
Speaker 3 (23:34):
A guy that we have talked about but probably not
enough I think one of the best recruits of the year.
Speaker 2 (23:40):
That we haven't put him up in that category.
Speaker 1 (23:41):
Ick we have.
Speaker 3 (23:42):
We've said he's been great, but not the best recruited
at Matt Kennedy he was.
Speaker 1 (23:46):
I've said that he is already, but have we said
the best recruit of the year. He isn't it.
Speaker 2 (23:50):
I don't know if he's the best up there, but
he's in the top.
Speaker 3 (23:52):
Three, top three, three goals, nine in disposals, seven tackles.
He was just like so many people were fumbling. He
would pick it up, goal, pick it up, set up
a goal. He was one of the best on graud.
Speaker 1 (24:01):
One of the best recruits of the season was also
when the other team you can choose between the weapon
John Noble is I think Kennedy has been think yeah,
but you know what I mean is they've been brilliant
as well. Like they've had that run and carry. They
both kicked golf for Gold Coaster as well. They had
twenty odd touches each, like they are bringing plenty to
the Suns. They are.
Speaker 2 (24:19):
I want to give a shout out to Liver as well.
Thirty five touch great, ten clearances.
Speaker 3 (24:25):
Yeah, in those conditions as an inside me.
Speaker 1 (24:28):
But he loves those conditions. It does. It just doesn't
look like a football.
Speaker 3 (24:32):
He's got the weird tats.
Speaker 1 (24:35):
It was like he was back in Vietnam playing footy.
Speaker 2 (24:37):
Yeah, it looks like when you had me running to
the pub, you run, run, check out my straa.
Speaker 1 (24:44):
You should get a libertat how much about me?
Speaker 3 (24:48):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (24:49):
Is there a number? How much hundred bucks? Deal?
Speaker 3 (24:53):
I was going to say more and then you want
to stick. Liver was great, Yeah, Liver was great. The
top four of I believe disposed when as were the Dogs. Yeah,
but the show that the next four were some Yeah.
Speaker 1 (25:02):
So it showed a bit though that the Sun's depth.
Speaker 3 (25:04):
I think overalls are slightly better, slightly yeah, just slightly better.
And that's probably what got him over the line in
my opinion, just because there's other guys that stepp up.
They don't have to rely on the bond liver to
get thirty pass to win, whereas you can have Matt
Real get around that nineteen to twenty and still have
the impact.
Speaker 1 (25:17):
I mean, Gold Coast did have sixty two inside fifties
as well, despite having forty less disposals. Yeah. And then Alex,
you're you've been big on the Dogs.
Speaker 3 (25:23):
You're very up and down. At the start of the year.
You apologize to Bevo and said the dogs are all right?
Speaker 1 (25:28):
What's your call on the dogs? E mate? They will
not miss the top six this season despite losing on
Saturday Night, so they're run home post by So their
last what is it thirteen fourteen games? They have nine
games at Marvel, They've got one at Mars Stadium in Ballarat,
they play a game at the MCG. They play the
Cats in Geelong. They played Brisbane up at the Gabbat
and they travel to the Swans and play them at
(25:49):
the SCG. You can very easily see the Dogs winning
twelve of those games because they're better than the Swan's.
Then give a Geelong a run for their money. Mars
Stadium is like just an absolute fortress for them at
the moment, and they're always good at Marvel. So you say,
maybe they lose it. I don't know who theyre playing them.
I haven't actually looked. I just looked at the stadiums
they're playing at. Maybe the Geelong game. It's like, well,
you bank seven or eight of those wins at Marvel,
(26:11):
you are top six, top four. Well they could even
be top four, like never finished top four on a bever.
That's why I'm not saying they'll finish top four while
they'll be top six. This is Is this the best
I know they lost?
Speaker 2 (26:20):
I feel like we're talking about too much, but is
this the best footy they've been playing on?
Speaker 1 (26:24):
Yes? Even with the yeah, other than flag since the flag? Yeah? Yeah.
Speaker 3 (26:28):
I'm including the yeah fan bases who are want to
touch on that is great.
Speaker 1 (26:32):
We're gonna beat Hawthorne. Yeah. Early, I don't want to
think about that one. The Suns look so good. That's
mean they don't lose in Darwin now like early on
when they were bad they did, and then they don't.
And then for dogs fans are like, all right, that's annoying.
Beltest and the next week at Marvel, please Leo. Leo
(26:53):
asked very nicely for that. So moving on, let's go
to the showdown? Always awesome? Can I say that? Yeah?
Of course, thank you permission. Port Adelaide home game twelve
twelve eighty four defeated by the Adelaide Crows thirteen eleven
eighty nine. So, first of all, is this on everyone's
bucket list of footy games to attempt?
Speaker 3 (27:14):
I said this in one of my mate screw chips.
I was like, we've been together. I've been together and
we've been together around. I've been exact been to I've
been to a Battle of the Bridge.
Speaker 1 (27:23):
I can imagine Heinley Street after a showdown. What yeah,
watch out? So le The big question coming into this
is would Port lift and rast the occasion because they're
an emotional team. He did.
Speaker 2 (27:38):
Yeah, we chatted about that on the Thursday show.
Speaker 1 (27:41):
They were right up for the task.
Speaker 2 (27:43):
So that's what they do for these big games. Port
fans are gonna hate us saying this, but they are
an emotional side. Ken charges them up for these big
games and they do deliver. Connor Rosie he won the medal,
I believe.
Speaker 1 (27:54):
Yeah, thirty two in a joke like Thriller should have won,
said that you shouldn't be allowed to win them. I
don't care if you have fifty touches, you shouldn't be thought.
Speaker 3 (28:02):
I thought Rosie was. He was throughout thirty two disposals,
and yeah, they were up for it. They led the
inside fifty sixty two to forty one.
Speaker 2 (28:10):
And I just think the difference in this game, which
we'll touch on, is the Port's back line versus Crows forwards.
Speaker 1 (28:16):
I watched the highlights.
Speaker 2 (28:17):
Back and it was so often that when Adelaide found
the mismatch inside fifty, it was just the goal automatically.
You got Farrell on Foggedy, you got Burton on Foggity
and Phil Thorpe.
Speaker 1 (28:26):
That's not a good match up that way. And Thriller
was just like, this is all Thriller has to do.
Just stick the stick. The MIT's out. He was fantastic.
Three goals. I believe.
Speaker 2 (28:36):
Yeah, so he was superb and I think that was
the difference in the end that they started the last
quarter Crowsers jumped them and then port were trying to
come back late and I think the right team won
in the end.
Speaker 1 (28:45):
Yeah they did, They really did. Did the rivalry live
up to it? So that's man. Oh absolutely, there's another
five point game. That was a rhetorical question.
Speaker 3 (28:53):
I'm just gonna wall no, no, just that guy. I'm
just there picked behind the curtains. But of course it did.
It's another close game. Again, We're saying this all the
games so far, some awesome games is round and the
Showdown just always lifts. Like I want, like, can we
have three Showdowns a year every single time? Again on
a Friday night? Get it on a Friday nights? Who
(29:14):
at the MCG no marvel. That should never happen out
of that is where it should be. It is the
one of the best games in the AFOL season. You've
got to lock it in every season. It has to
be a Friday night if you want to see Friday.
Speaker 1 (29:28):
I think they used to do it because like Victoria's
last year wasn't on a Thursday or Friday. Maybe it
mustn't have rated well maybe I thought.
Speaker 3 (29:36):
I think it would nowadays because like we're talking about,
everyone of Victoria talks about it nowadays.
Speaker 2 (29:41):
I think it should be a very big prime TINGU game.
Speaker 1 (29:43):
Yeah. Did this game also show why Thriller is going
to be the best forward for the comp in the
next ten years?
Speaker 3 (29:49):
I just the way they're forgetting about Mabia Child though.
Speaker 1 (29:54):
No, I'm not about Aaron Francis. Anytime, anytime the ball
went near Thriller, he was going to clunk it one
hundred percent.
Speaker 3 (30:03):
But I think it's partly because of Port didn't have
someone that could match up on him. You put Sam
Taylor or you put watering on him, He's not going
to dominate.
Speaker 1 (30:11):
I'm back and Thriller.
Speaker 2 (30:12):
I still think he could have a big day on
those key defenders. Yea every time though.
Speaker 1 (30:17):
Yeah, so fan bases are like, oh, this emotion will
come down. Sucks. They've got to play Geelong next week
at home.
Speaker 3 (30:25):
Yeah, this is the one that could have won, because,
like you said, the stats they did well and they
got it down there enough, but.
Speaker 1 (30:30):
The crows folds are too good. And then the Crows
they're like, that's great, we beat Port but next week's
the real one. Collingwood at the G one Saturday, I'm
going to go, oh no, I've oh wait, I've got
my best mates getting married on Friday. I've got recovery
at the Bells Hotel, straight into the I'll tell you what,
(30:51):
every chance we may roll into the G, just we'll
go there. That's fantastic. What a game, what a we
can Sunday back to the MCG. Speaking of the G,
Richmond eleven at fifteen eighty one defeated a West Coast
eleven thirteen seventy nine. Scoreline tells you that this, like
ah close game, was a good game. It wasn't great
(31:12):
like this like close games are sometimes like built up
for being amazing. This was just two teams who aren't
very good.
Speaker 3 (31:19):
They both brought the pressure they both like. It was
like golfer goal in the stand. You bring them pressure.
Speaker 1 (31:24):
You're putting pressure on a less lesser and players who
aren't silky and as good as others are going to
crumble under said pressure. So I've just got notes from
throughout the whole thing. The first thing I found a
bit weird was Richmond fans booing LEEA and Baker like
wait really Yeah, I was like, why would you boo him?
You got pick fourteen for Lee and Baker, which pick
fourteen plus Shade Bolton then gave you three dudes who
(31:47):
all played really well today. He also wont Some like
to forget about that. They want some premierships.
Speaker 3 (31:51):
If you unless you did something against your club and
you've won a pressure.
Speaker 1 (31:57):
Should boo him? Yah?
Speaker 3 (31:58):
Probably, but that's another one. But you should never get
booed if you've won a premiership. I reckon that's a
bit same.
Speaker 1 (32:03):
She've done something. Richmond should have been well in front
of this game at halftime. They had all the footy,
they were going forward with plenty of possession, and just
West Coast, oh, we don't know what to do without
Jeremy McGovern here and they just could not convert and
find a way to do it. Tom Lynch, like I
thought he'd have a pretty decent day without Jeremy McGovern.
He was okay, probably showed his limitations a little bit
(32:23):
as well. But West Coast did get back very well.
They worked very hard defensively and then after sort of
halftime they came out. Richmond started well, but then West
Coast finished much better. They got their defensive setup and
Hoff in the midfield I thought worked really well for
West Coast a few weeks now.
Speaker 2 (32:38):
Yeah, midfield, where was he backpack playing with Hutchinson throwing
him in there?
Speaker 1 (32:44):
They need had just changed it up and I didn't
mind that from mcwatter. Yeah, and then it's like the
Eagles they could sniffle win halfway through the third quarter
and now are on. It's like then you had to
look at some of the stats. In the first half
they only had eight Ford half intercepts. In the third
quarter they had ten, showing the pressure that they were
putting on and just the work right that they got in.
And they changed up their forward line structure as well
because Bailey, Williams and Flynn were down there as well,
(33:07):
alongside Watermen and a couple of others, Like they had
five tools in that back line. So basically Nathan broad
and lost and couldn't zone off and take in a
set mark. It was actually decent tactics, it was. And
it's like West Coast you did all that work and
you still couldn't lead it three quarter a time like
Richmond just sort of they'd find a way just to
just to get another one and get another one, and
then we got the full Harley experience in the third quarter. Yeah,
(33:30):
it happens one one time. One time. He kicked that
amazing goal, then he gave away a fifty meter penalty
the classic, and then he ran too far and then
he decided to wrestle Sam Wall Actually have been tweeted
about that. I don't know if you guys saw Jack
Ginovan's an idiot. Hang on, hang, I knew you sound
like all those old people right now. Yes, he's bad
for that game. I'm not saying he's bad at the game.
(33:51):
I'm saying, Oh, don't don't ping him for running too far.
I'm sorry, Jack, it's a root to football. What changed
the roles just for Harley read? Yeah, we're going to
just change.
Speaker 2 (34:04):
Why can't I say ice bass that up in the
other way.
Speaker 1 (34:06):
He's got an issue. But anyway, so in this last quarter,
this is all about the Tom Brown tackle thirty seconds ago.
Speaker 3 (34:15):
We did a clip on socials if you want to
check that out. Yeah, he stuffed up like was it
a couple of minutes before?
Speaker 1 (34:20):
Yeah, and then he's made up for him down tackle
and Richmond had the foot in their foot half like
eighty percent of the eighty percent of the game time
in the first fifteen minutes that last quarter, and they
just found that they just found a way to win.
Like Tom Lynch came mcaull for all sort of chipping
in with important, important possessions and goals there. But it
was just at the end of the day, Richmond did
enough and they were the better team and deserved to win.
(34:43):
Like I thought, Sam Banks is great, Taranta was everywhere.
Popper got a lot of the footy but didn't do
a lot with it. I love Seth Campbell, Yeah, he
was so quick.
Speaker 3 (34:53):
Even Mansell kicked a few a nice goal from the boundary.
They're small, was like Seth camp On and Mantle can
can put him in good staf And.
Speaker 1 (35:00):
For West Coast, there's enough there where they're like, oh,
they'll win a game this year.
Speaker 3 (35:04):
Yeah, but you'd be gutted if you're a fan because
they need to win those time games because they got
they were really good in the third quarter.
Speaker 1 (35:10):
But the fan base is Richmond just like better than
North and West Coast.
Speaker 3 (35:13):
Well, they're locked in now sixteenth or higher, like they
cannot like North.
Speaker 2 (35:19):
Northward next week. They're only a half game behind them
because they're playing, which probably are true.
Speaker 1 (35:23):
So I don't think they have like Albourn, Alvin Oh
Sydney Gogola, who knows Joe joking? Please West Coast like
hob not great. No, they'll be gutted with that one.
Let's get down a taxpayer park stats manes Gelong fourteen
seventeen one oh one GWS sixteen nine one oh nine.
You had another team who had more shots than the opposition,
and it's a simple rule. Kick more goals than the
(35:44):
other team.
Speaker 3 (35:45):
Yep, God, kicking is good footy. Everyone's been saying that
for years. Waters Ball knowledge right added absolutely bond knowledge.
Speaker 1 (35:51):
Water game.
Speaker 2 (35:52):
This is the pitomizes the great round of footy. Where
was the stud here?
Speaker 1 (35:55):
Fifteen league changes? I had them written down. I had
to look at the worm. If anyone has gone that,
give us right now?
Speaker 3 (36:01):
Yeah, standing worom fifteen Lee changes. Absolutely awesome game. Just
to start, though Chris got had a few weird tactics.
He put jess At to start in the guts, which
I didn't mind because he's been a bit off this season.
Speaker 1 (36:15):
He had a really good impact in.
Speaker 3 (36:17):
The first half, set up a lot of their shots
on goal, but it was all jws in the first quarter.
They started off thirty two to eight. They were absolutely awesome.
Jake Stringer kicked two and.
Speaker 1 (36:26):
Then he's done. The Jake hamstring and the corner. Now,
no good package is not delivered. No, I'm not delivered.
Speaker 3 (36:31):
Unfortunately, Hogan's missing a few pieces. Hogan is the big
talking point though. Yes, we're going to talk about him
again later. Seven snags. He's like Coleman, that's mine voice.
I'll be jumping up the Jack Gunston. Jack Hunstan is
a bit behind now, absolutely awesome. Seven goals, but all
I will say is I've got some angry Geelong mates
as well. Samda Coning was nowhere near in behalf of
(36:52):
those goals. There was a lot of loose I know
there was a few checking loose checking o'saliv O'Connor. Sorry,
O'sellivan as well. It was a bit off him as well.
It was a bit loose. But you gotta kick him
as well. He kicked seven goals to stream the accurate
or seven goals one better.
Speaker 1 (37:06):
There you go.
Speaker 3 (37:07):
He was just I'm just radled by how good that man.
He's such a good kick. He's a little stutter. Sam
Taylor as well. I think Alex especially has been talking
him up as one of the best fullbacks in the competition.
Speaker 1 (37:15):
He showed it.
Speaker 3 (37:16):
He had a clutch spoiled towards the end there which
got him over.
Speaker 2 (37:19):
The line, including getting him over the line.
Speaker 3 (37:21):
Is Jake Riccardi that clutch goal in the glove he
was He was great.
Speaker 1 (37:26):
That's probably one end of the show, Jake ricard end
of the show exactly clok glove, the Travis clok glove.
Maybe he gave him some superpowers.
Speaker 3 (37:34):
He didn't really have that many shots inside fifty, but
he had a few good, nice goals. The left foot
snap for the win was absolutely awesome. Then you go
down the other end just painting people a picture that
didn't see it, blitz up, hits the post. You're like
a sitter, right, yeah, you miss one as well, Stele
miss one. Man I will look like he was going
to break the game open, and he kicked two out
in the fall.
Speaker 1 (37:52):
We didn't have a bit of shawning. Man I wanted
to be the hero for one of them too. Oh
he wasn't. Yeah, Geelong fans would be really really fun
straighted with that. They will gw Wes just go the
g and g MHBO stands for GWS exactly right, because
Green Tom Green as well. Tom Green had thirty six
and a goal. That goal from the boundary was awesome.
(38:13):
There's a bit of beef.
Speaker 3 (38:14):
Between him and Manner and I was thinking, man can't
even Lace was calling him a hero for going for
he was and manass because yeah, you.
Speaker 1 (38:21):
Mentioned with Jesse Horgan only kicking seven goals one, so
leading into the weekend he'd kicked eighteen goals four. He's
so good. He kicked one goal three against the Swans,
which means prior to the Battle of the Bridge he'd
kicked seventeen to one. He's kicked twenty five five this year.
That is not bad. That's Nick we're going to talk about.
Speaker 3 (38:41):
He wishes Boot, he wishes he wishes the Giants. He said,
it's the Giants Parker, whatever we want to call it.
Speaker 1 (38:47):
Down there.
Speaker 3 (38:47):
They've won five straight there, so now they've got the
best current win streaker. Geelong had four straight there, so
now they've overtaken them. Now they're five straight there at
Gelong and four of them four.
Speaker 1 (38:58):
It's five straight wins. I know that for a fact
because we originally had it wrong in the run sheet.
Speaker 3 (39:02):
I promise think it's three in the last though. Yeah,
I didn't say that you've got it wrong.
Speaker 1 (39:09):
He's pre empty. You're getting it wrong. I was literally
about to say four of them were by four points,
but three of them, three of them were by four point.
We got there in the end. Sorry, shout out to
the real stats guy, Barb Sam. Yeah, Bob, thank you
very much for that.
Speaker 3 (39:21):
But they've won five straight there and it's just credit
to them because they bounced back up to a really
tough month.
Speaker 1 (39:26):
Well yeah, if they lost this, I was I was
just gonna. I was actually talking off air with Lockie
McCurdy last night. It's like Gwos actually need to win
this game tomorrow otherwise their season is like in real
danger of slipping away from them. I know they finally
get back to Enjye in the next couple of weeks,
but to lose four in a row at any stage
of the year is not good, especially now when the
(39:46):
ladder is very compressed as well. All I know is
GWS like, if we played Gelong in the finals, can
we play in Geelong?
Speaker 2 (39:53):
Not the Toby Green got asked by Sarah Oi. I
think I saw someone after the game.
Speaker 3 (39:57):
I can't remember what it was, but saying, do you
want to play more home games because they might be
selling some games to the MCG that's right, yeah, and
he goes, we travel enough because they go to camera.
They don't even get to play at the show grounds
very often.
Speaker 1 (40:07):
Like they're all, can we just like delete the easter show?
Speaker 3 (40:10):
Yeah, they don't get to play their home ground, so
but they should play more games of GM because they
love it down there.
Speaker 1 (40:16):
Fan bases Gelong are like, can we not play them
here again? I know, I think you'd be just so catm.
It'd be so annoyed because they had so many chances
to win that and Giants fans just like, can we
need it again? Needed it? Needed it? Do it next week?
Needed it? Loved it. One player I didn't touch on
(40:37):
them before we ended his.
Speaker 2 (40:40):
Class, his eyes and he was just he almost got
him overline.
Speaker 1 (40:43):
He was their soul. Best player by any birds at home, No,
there was none, makes sense. He didn't throw the bird
gws at three gws play free with NG next week
four fifteens. That one big potential. All right, let's do
it just you that's guy, tell you what great product
is the Ninja creamy not a sponsor, a sponsor, but
(41:06):
please sponsors because my fiance and I love making ninja creamy.
Homemade ice cream is healthy. I don't know about Ninja
Stadium though, ninjag as well.
Speaker 3 (41:18):
But what isn't healthy was stats Guy's heart right, No, look,
we're going to give stats guy this game.
Speaker 1 (41:24):
But then he had a massive cry before this you
were broken. I'm happy to you do that. Eleven seventy
one drew with Brisbane ten eleven seventy one. The words
right out of my mouth. It was a bloody drawer.
So joining the drawer is on the ball, let's go,
I thought the chorus, the drawer is on the drawer.
(41:48):
We got to points. The last question we got to ask.
Talk about it on Thursday.
Speaker 3 (41:54):
Were Brisbane up for a four forty trip Tohoe but
on a Sunday No, short answer is no.
Speaker 1 (41:59):
They the first quarter, so another lost for North. There
still could have win and that was my lock of
the round. Oh yeah, it happens. There you go clap
for me clapping the comments. Did get two goals? Was lost?
He did, I'll ever go. Yeah, everyone's happy of it.
You look North. One thing they do well. It's not consistent,
is the clearance stuff. And who led that? That guy
(42:21):
Elliot's talk. Thank you, Tristan Sherry.
Speaker 3 (42:24):
I don't care if you don't want your tdks, I
don't want your Lloyd meets what he's been craped the
last couple of weeks. Ye Cherry nineteen disposals, thirty six
twelve clearances, twelve clearances for a ruck and he was
he didn't come off for the last quarter and a
half as well.
Speaker 2 (42:37):
He's so good and he's just got super powers under
that helmet.
Speaker 1 (42:40):
One hundred percent.
Speaker 3 (42:41):
And who else not the clearances but Parker he got
a few clearances, but twenty three disposes, a goal, eight tackles.
He put the team on his shoulders. It was one
of those guys where we've recruited to be that guy,
to be that leader. He did miss an easy shot,
which was really annoying, but he made up for it
with a goal later and he was just awesome with that.
There's not enough guys in our team that can get
eight tackles. I think he's the only guy really, Phillips,
But yeah, talk about that. But I think North from
(43:05):
clearance were that was sort of what brought them back
into the game lines, found goals when they needed to.
It was just sort of that experience of game management
that they have been so good at this season.
Speaker 2 (43:15):
We also chatted about this on the previous show, Laki
versus Hipwood.
Speaker 1 (43:19):
And their output. So Hipwood three goals, as Alex liked
to say, as Alex likes to say.
Speaker 2 (43:24):
It another non AFL, non traditional. But he's also including
Marvel in that, So make that make sense.
Speaker 1 (43:34):
Marvel, nor would Ninja Creamy Stadium sponsor us? Please?
Speaker 2 (43:42):
Look, he had three goals. I think he missed one
late that could have put this point six points up.
Larkie only the one he missed two easy ones and
the third that he just has to kick that guy.
We have brought your mate.
Speaker 3 (43:57):
He got under my skin the other week when he
said this, but he's been banging on the last three
weeks when the game is on the line.
Speaker 1 (44:02):
Luck, he hasn't been kicking. He doesn't have a clutch
bone in his body. Since that's one's game where he
got towed and he got two junk time goals. He's
being He's been a mythical creat.
Speaker 2 (44:12):
It's been happening for years though, and it's so stiff
to say because he is the most accurate kick in
the game by the numbers, not because North aren't in games.
So he kicks goals when they're down when the game
is pros.
Speaker 1 (44:25):
He does tend to miss a lot of that last contest,
he could have hit harder as well. Yeah, the kick
wasn't to his favor, but yeah, I do.
Speaker 3 (44:32):
Can I say one thing for all the fans out
there at Ninja Creamy Stadium, if he kicked three, everyone
gets a free cheeseburger and he's missed two sets, shots
and kick, he's definitely been paid off that.
Speaker 1 (44:41):
Yeah, everyone deserves the cheeseburger for a drawer because they're all.
Is this where we also point out no Archer, no Curtis,
no Low, no Doors, and no Tucker.
Speaker 3 (44:50):
Yeah I agree with to buy a choice though, Yeah,
buttes are massive out and I reckon he Curtis probably win, probably,
which is I just can't believe that this was a
well Brisbane.
Speaker 1 (45:01):
Yeah, but you know what the last time Brisbane was
involved in a draw at the end of round nine
in the four forty slot, what did they do? I
don't know, won the flag?
Speaker 2 (45:08):
Oh that's the nerdiest thing. You've ever said, guy, that's
my turn up.
Speaker 1 (45:12):
They drew in Round nine away from home in the
four forty slot last year, and yeah, I thought, so, yeah,
there we go. I think it's done. As far as
that's Brisbane fans have been pumped up, yes, feeling Brisbane.
Hearing that. Brisbane fans are like, no one's stopping us.
I'll tell you what. They were very worried about Charlie Carrent.
He was nowhere to be seen again. He's good against
(45:33):
the Suns last week. He's had one good game this year.
Speaker 2 (45:35):
I think he had a delayed preseason. Sometimes it happens.
I'm going to let him off.
Speaker 3 (45:39):
I thought Jasper Fletcher was their best on I think
he set up so many goals.
Speaker 1 (45:42):
He's very good. Yeah, but you can't spell your name
like that his parents.
Speaker 2 (45:47):
I'm not giving him any And North Melbourne fans.
Speaker 1 (45:50):
Are just like, we didn't lose, but we still can't win.
Speaker 3 (45:54):
Three weeks in a row where we genuinely could have won.
The poor one they played, you evident we should have
you should have won, doesn't matter.
Speaker 1 (46:03):
So is this where as a North fan and I'm
asking this to you, and obviously we're a friend of
the show Marne as well, and a few other North
fans that do watch this. Are you concerned that you've
been so close three weeks in a row. You probably
should have won those three games. That next week you
play Richmond and you there is every chance you fall
off the face of the earth and get belted. There
is no chance. I don't want to sud. I don't
(46:26):
think we'll get belted. But I know a flat performance
and coming. Remember last year you played good for like
a month, then you went to Sydney and lost by night.
Speaker 2 (46:34):
They need to win this game and win it semi comfortably.
Speaker 1 (46:37):
Yeah, I'm going to call another draw, as I say,
because after that you play Collingwood. I could see too.
Speaker 3 (46:43):
I don't want another funny Richmond anyway, I reckon that's enough.
How the fan based this feeling performing a stress? You
can check it out on the socials. As we said before,
funny but sad and two points in the bag by.
Speaker 1 (46:59):
Yeah. Let's get to the tipping results of the week.
I got five because I decided to tip Fremantle and
some Kilder. Yeah yeah, tip Sat.
Speaker 3 (47:05):
I think I got seven nice who Fence got eight?
I got six and I might not tip Saints again
because I really thought I will be.
Speaker 1 (47:15):
It is not dipping. Yeah, never tip big core results.
I had Aaron Francis kicked three goals, then he missed
a goal from three centimeters out. He gold of me,
but I thought it was a goal too. I thought
it was a goal anyway. Cameron lnked it he did?
Speaker 3 (47:32):
Was my one thirty and two goals for Nasty got
the thirty, not two goals and two goals.
Speaker 1 (47:36):
I went Lawla and Harley forty plus four goals and
that was that was, Like I said on the show,
that was an outrageous Marcus. He had both teams scoring
one hundred plus in Sons and Dogs. He was literally
four points off. I sucked in. This is your time
to shine, mate, best on ground of the week. You
one two, three order because somehow for you three is
(47:57):
the best work. Okay? Sure?
Speaker 2 (48:00):
Can I give an honorable mention to Zach Reid twenty
seven touches, fourteen marks?
Speaker 1 (48:04):
Did he make it eight intersept possessions? This is why
we didn't mention Zach reed in the talking up of
in the Essen and Sydney game, how good it was? Undrated?
Super coach. No, I don't care about super coach. A
lot of Essendon fans post games. We're finding receipts of
people after that round three going Zach Reeds, Now.
Speaker 3 (48:21):
That was me.
Speaker 1 (48:21):
I said he wasn't good, so kudos to him for coming.
He was about him. Awesome, he was great. Good job.
I'm a Swans fan. I'm still dirty.
Speaker 2 (48:27):
Well, I'm zachar Reied. You get an honorable mention on
AFL today. Good job, one vote. He Jerry my disposals
twelve clearances. Awesome, led the way for North Melbourne in
the middle.
Speaker 3 (48:40):
Great job, Trish. She's made a big now called medium sized.
Though I reckon big O. Didn't player was Darcy fort
so we I was there at the start, wasn't he?
And then Darcy fort Oh, I'm pretty sure or maybe
I'm going crazy. Maybe I'm going keep so I keep going.
Speaker 1 (48:53):
Two votes.
Speaker 2 (48:54):
J Alliott six goals was the difference. I thought up
there six goals in two votes. That's crazy, well.
Speaker 3 (49:01):
Because the person that has three votes, Jay Hogan, seven goals,
twenty two touches and nine marks.
Speaker 1 (49:08):
But on Jesse, I'm sure you're watching this. Good job, buddy.
Speaker 3 (49:10):
IFL Today gives respect to four, he's this gold, Jesse Ogan, buddy,
that's also all forwards and a rock.
Speaker 1 (49:17):
Yeah, we aren't midfield biased here, and a tall defender
was the honorable mention an anti midfielder show. This proves
that Elliott and Hogan should be getting three votes in fairness.
Jamie Elliott got lucky that he didn't have an opponent
for half the game. Yeah, but he kicked him from
like fifty a few of them. He's awesome. Yeah, pretty good.
I'd forget Jamie Elliott's goals that snuck over the line.
(49:37):
Reminded me of Dane Rampy's loss of death perception too.
Oh yeah, that was that was strange. I was one
of there was one that was bad, and there was
the one that went like three meters over and it's fine.
I just wanted to point that out. Stat's gy best
team of the Round full credit, Best team of the Round.
Speaker 3 (49:49):
We do want to like you did Ge Coast one vote? Gee,
the Gold Coast one vote. I thought they were awesome.
Speaker 1 (49:55):
The dogs.
Speaker 3 (49:56):
Everyone's talking them up as the top four dogs is
a good win. It wasn't, and they just know how
to win there. I think they should try and play
more games there because they don't lose their seven in
a row, so they are my one vote, two votes
see Ollingwood, Sea would Collingwood see would No Collingwood. I
thought that was a great win. They had five four
of their best players out, they had a five day break.
Nick Dacos didn't have to shine. Their depths stood up there,
(50:16):
Forward stood up. So that's two votes and then the
three votes they've had a month of how they were.
Stringer did a hammy and they still won. JWS is
my three votes. They were they were awesome. I think
getting over one Geelong at takespayer Park. I don't care
that they've won all those games in a row before that.
That is a huge win, a confidence boosting win that
they needed. They didn't even beat Sydney with no forward
(50:36):
line and then they do that.
Speaker 1 (50:37):
So that's my best thing. I think Collingwood's was a
better win. GW sorry three or frauds frauds one doesn't matter.
They didn't. That's why jedivers and my three votes boo
and bango stats go all right. That is us done
